The one friend who died had been ill, so this will be an end to his pain, but he was such a cool guy... very, very good to us over the last 20 plus years. We are really going to miss him. I am good friends with his wife, and I hate to see this happen right before Christmas.
They had a marine tribute at the funeral.. always emotional.

dianne, our butcher makes every thing from scratch.
so all you have todo is heat it up?
well, cook it, dianne. we dry grill them.
I make pork schnitzel and serve it with a sweet, chili sauce on the side.
i used to make my own schnitzels. i had my own recipe of bread crumbs and herbs and spices. it was different each time, as i used what i thought went together.
I have these panko, lemon pepper, bread crumbs made by Progresso - they are wonderful.

I bought a tub yesterday (pic on the webpage) and the downpayment for the gas fireplace yesterday too. We have skylights in so the house is not getting wet inside anymore, but it has a lot of drying out to do.

We had a really low-key solstice. We didn't cook or anything this year -- all my regular observances have been left by the wayside because I just can't handle the "one more thing" yet.
maybe next year...
LOL poor kid. My middle-schoolers were pretty well "shot" by Thursday. I didn't ask or expect anything big from them Friday.

I am looking forward to next solstice. We will be in our home again and the garden will be in full swing. It will be a good time to put the sad times behind us and celebrate looking ahead.

I hate it. I have always disliked city living, and although this is a really really nice apartment in a great location, it's not my dream.
it will be ok once you are back home. hope the weather stays nice enough to keepthings on track so you can be there soon
thanks TO -- now that the roof is fully closed in (got skylights in about a week ago) things can dry out. The gas lines are in now, and the electrician will do a walk-through with us on Thursday... should have an inspection by the end of the first week in January. Maybe sooner. But the insulation and drywall and finishing work will take a long time, I have been warned.
At least now it will start getting lighter so I can go out after work and see what has been done. It's too dark after school right now for me to go out there. I really want to have power in so I can be there after dark!
