LOL I had to take my youngest daughter out of public school in her soph year of HS and sent her to a prep school......public school was hell for her, her locker mate was selling drugs there. Hi all -- crossy, are you around?
Mmmm.... anyone have experience with Efudex, the chemo cream?
Thanks anyway.
hi all!
hi uu!
hello uusue!
My husband was on something called Erbitux, but that wasn't a cream - sounds sort of similar, though
hi jill!
Efudex has been used since 1970 for pre and existing cancers on skin. The pain and other side effects are bad, from what I researched, but wondered if maybe those were more extreme cases.... Also wondering if someone tried a different approach.
ah, I don't know much about skin cancer, sorry!
Guess I'm feeling a bit scared about it. UU, my mantra continues to be, Sunscreen ! :)
this is for you, ch1212?
and scared is perfectly appropriate, IMHO!
And my mantra is get your colon cancer screenings as recommended...
boy, that is certainly true, jill!
Yes. I had a squamous cell carcinoma removed in December, and today the doc did two more biopsies, then also prescribed the chemo cream for my hands and arms. (I did have my colonscopy at age 50 :)
Well, Frank would have if he'd had insurance. Had someone today that hadn't had one since -had polyps then, should have been every 3-5. We spent 90 minutes on a 20 minute procedure, found and removed more than 15 polyps today, most of them ugly looking.
*2001
Glad you got them, Jilly! !!!
Well, I sure hope they hadn't spread beyond that, jill!
Oh,I am sure we missed some today. He will have to come back within the year
and we're not sure, since part of Frank's cancer was in his small intestine, whether colonoscopies might have missed it anyway
So do I uusue; most looked pre-cancerous, but one or more may be cancerous.
They do have the "swallowed" camera method now that does screen through out GI tract.
ah, Efudex is fluorouracil; Frank got that intravenously
but I'm sure the cream has a totally different set of side effects
This would be topical, with an application period 2 - 4 weeks. I'm reading that many patients can't take the pain after 2 weeks, and that the full recovery period is around 3 months. Meantime, I would look like a walking dead with the redness, lesions, rash, cracking skin, etc. would do... ick.
sounds awful!
And problems sleeping, possible hair loss, and burning, stinging, itchiness...
Horrible thing to go thru, but if it keeps you alive...
finally nbt/nbs
yay jill!
That's where I'm hopeful, Jilly -- the efficacy of Efudex cream is really good.
phone...bb
ch1212, remember that not everyone gets all the side effects - in fact, probably nobody gets ALL the side effects. You may find that it's not too horrible.
anyway, off to walk the dog, bbl! Will be thinking of you, ch1212!
Also a good point, uu. Thanks! Have fun on your walk!
And on that cheerier no4/4, I'll go start supper.
back..
okay, gotta list at 50

ha, finally got the 9!
nice
Yay sue and hi:)
Swai is South Asian catfish.
Ty Molly.I've never had it
I don't know about the UK, but certain types of fish get "trendy" here. It was tilapia for a while, now it's swai.
By the way Molly, i meant to tell you that my husband and i went to see the bairn's teachers' last week for parents' evening and i was once again a proud mam.3 years in a row...I know she's a cow to me but the teachers love her and say how polite she is and that she works really hard and is doing really well..She get's it from me:)
It's nice to have "proud parent" moments. Good for you. And good for her too.
We get tilapia here, the bairn who loves fish didn't like it, so maybe i would? we seem to like different fish...surprise surprise!!
It was great to have her dad there as normally it is in the Summer and he's away and i could see that he was proud and he doesn't give much away normally but after 17 years with him i know the signs!
I'm glad your husband was there. Sometimes it feels weird to go to those things as a single when all the other parents are coming in double.
Normally it has been more doubles when i've been on my own, this year, it was more singles...go figure
evening all - phantom colonel

((Jilly)) I saw a mug on Amazon today that reminded me of you. I said "Be nice to your nurses...we keep the doctors from killing you." Sad, but true.
Since you have that PhD in WooT, guess we have to call you Dr. Nurse Jilly!
Only too true....I also like the one (though FAR too old to wear it) that says "Cute enough to stop your heart, smart enough to start it again"
Good evening Babblers
Hello wht!!
How are things in Montana, Jilly
That's a good one! My fav t-shirt says "If you don't like my opinion of you...you can always change."
Sunny and spring like...darest I hope??!!
((ruru)) I have been missing you!
guess I should go change my icon....brb
jilly, I wanted to say hello from Helena. We are neighbors!
Way too hot here now---mid-80s....summer closer than I can stand thinking about....
Enjoy it. They are saying that it will be warm on Thursday for the first day of Spring, but then it seems like they are going to put us back in the freezer for later.
We don't have any weather in Phoenix....just heat.
LOL..same here, but we're getting snow on Thursday.
Snow...I remember snow...I love snow...never get to see it anymore. :(
HEllo abetterjulie...I was born in Helena!!
Come on up, we still have some around Boston for you, Mimi. We will even send it to you.
That makes 5 of us in MT now!!
Cool! We live right outside of it in York.
Gotta get back to work...swamped...just taking a break. Have a good night, everyone, and hugs all around.
So Montana must have the highest proportion of Babblers in their population of any state.
Oh, wow! Really? I had no idea. Who else?
Wow, that's a new place for me..had to google it!
lbdawg, harp jane, me and trentsnana...though she is moving back east soon
LOL...I rather doubt that wht...
Does anyone have a clue for ae5?
ae + govt agency
Well having a small population to start with helps.
ty Leslie. Babble blindness was striking deep.
And lots of land to boot!
Going in circles on this grid wht!
thanks, leslie
Now really cool abetterjulie...I am an RN also!!
Many years ago when I lived in New Hampshire and drove cross country through Montana, I remember noticing that Montana had about the same population as New Hampshire but was 20 times as big.
That was a big point when we were back east. Took 10 hours to drive from MA to VA...saw 9 states...you can drive 10 hours and not be out of MT!
And generally you drive a lot faster there than you can here. And drivers here are not known for being slow.
That is wonderful, Jilly. Where do you work?
In the outpatient surgery center here in Hamilton
brb
wht, we went on a road trip w a friend and she drove 80 the entire time. It was terrifying!
