night nan.. we'll go on without you :D
hello ru and how are you?
hi saan.. ok.. happy I made it to the weekend
how about you?
Good! My little boat comes tomorrow - sanity at last
oops
your boat?
pb for saan
phant lotion just because i keep typing it for some reason
it is a 12 foot Davidson, not sure if it's a sailing dingy or not but I plan to row and motor (2hp) around the Inlet all summer
It was a gist
nice.. sounds peaceful and useful
gift
figured that saanich
nice gift
It was given to me by my best friends (she died) husband in memory of all the happy times we had here. Saanich Inlet is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is a small (400( community and we even have our own fire dept.
how nice
I haven't named her yet
400 people. I lived in a town of under 500 people.. I felt like everyone knew my business
we should have a contest her to name her
that is the horrible part of a tight-knit community.
yes. it is
you sneeze on one end of town and everyone knows you have a cold
I probably will call her "Thistle ll" as my first one was Thistle
what was your friend's name? first name
I even had a guy ask if I had changed jobs because he used my loud truck as an alarm and all I had done was change hours
oh oh here come the red boxes
oh oh here come the red boxes
hi, everyone. Ru, you're an honorary Aussie today? No longer Greek?
my last post got blown up by the red boxes. and ru, I also thought of using her name
today I'm a new zealander
that'd be a nice way to remember her saanich
I filed for my passport today :D
there are a number of private reasons why I decided not to
oops! Sorry, NZ - I didn't look closely enough!
oh.. well skip that idea then
it was a good one though
I have to name my car then I guess
Another good reason to change the flag. You Canadians managed to do it without disrespecting all those soldiers of the past who apparently "died for the flag".
and christen the tires with your favourite wine as a good kuck charm the car will keep you safe
I love New Zealand Dof.. can't wait to visit there this next year
my favorite wine costs more than the car :D
Will you come a little further, to Oz? And then a little further, to West Oz??
i like west oz
oh. A decent champagne then and finish the rest - doen's take too much on the tires!
Do you, Josh? Been here? As for me, I'd LOVE to go to Canada!
i have! drove all the way up the coast to broome in...2005 it was
I spent 6 weeks in Australia and wanted to stay forever
and across the nullarbor
I will do Australia someday .. that's for sure.
Too hot and flat and dry here. Your cool weather, snow and mountains (in the west, at least) appeal to me.
after france and Alaska, and northern Italy
i am from a much warmer place originally dofith. southeast USA
aaawow, Josh! I've never done that!
saan, why???
We could do a house swap.
we started in Cairsns and plane-hopped islands and towns down the coast. They offred spaghetti sandwiches for breakfast! But the food was fabulous, My ex was a wine writer and we got the special treatment at all the winneries. Met Max Lake
One of my sons lives up north in a mining town (iron ore) - one day when we visit him we'll drive on to Broome.
I didn't know that saanich
i liked broome a lot. i wish i could have kept going but i was running out of money at the time
actually dof we should think about that seriosly!
My sister and family lived in Vancouver for a couple of years, and absolutely loved it. She'd go back in a heart beat.
I think the Vancouver island area is one of the most beautiful places on earth
Vancouver is a ferry ride away from my place
I agree, saan. My man will retire soon, and we'll be ready for some long trips. Where in Canada are you?
It is ru. I have spent 35 years actively protecting it
Souther Vancouver Island
where are you?
interesting. one of my phants earlier was eerily close to an ac6
You've won me! Plan - we fly to nth west USA, hire car, drive down to about Georgia, across sth east US to New Orleans, up the middle and west to Colorado, across to west coast, up west coast to Canada and then to your house!
I'm in Perth
When we get to your house, I'll lose our passports and will just have to stay in Canada!
what an amazing trip! Would it be a year or more?
And we have a little beach house further south which is where I am today - it's themiddle of winter and we went walking at the beach this morning!
I thought Australia allowed dual passports, but maybe that was a long time ago
Beach House??? This is getting bettter! I live across the lane from a beach
Onl if you have the right to citizenship in another country e.g., many friends with an English parent have dual passports. One of my daughter's in law has 3!
thanks for clarifying that
finally have all the t's
It has got her into trouble. When they lived in the UAE, she'd entered with her Aussie passport; while we visited, we travelled to Oman and she took her British passport because her Aussie one was away getting her work visa rnewed. They wouldn't let her out because according to the passport, she hadn't entered! It was a mess!
and I am going back to the puzzle! Dof we need to figure a way to keep in touch
I will remind you of our pact, saan - leave it to me!
good! I will for sure
colt
Ooops! Sorry!
Greetings Friends

good morning all :)
Hey there, sprite.
hi Sprite
hi peach and flosey and saanich *hug*
and goodnight too all, see you tomorrow
Sweet dreams, saan.
night night
ooh, ahhh, {{hugs}} and xxxx sprite
lol, hello dear rose. *hugs* How are you today?
g'day peach
And to you, as well, Rose.
all good. have taken it quietly today....but...my BP is not good. gp wants a few readings...this morning's before meds was 213/101. i think we have a problem houston...
we sure do, rose. That is very much NOT good. But you already know that. *hugs* Looks like you are asking too much of your body...
and you darling sprite...how was last night?
and peach, how are you, today, hun?
pretty ok, rose. Not too much bad dreams and quite a few hours of good sleep :)
oh, nice, darling. they are long over-due...
oh, and I did the cooking yesterday, made a soup and an oven dish with homemade sauce, and they LOVED it.
Doing ok, so far, Rose. Have had vertigo and a uti that has had me down since Memorial Day.
doesn't sound good, peach :( What is an uti?
of course they did, sprite. you are the best cook.
peach, you are on antibiotics, yes??
lol rose, thanks for the support :) Well, not the best, but I can do simple stuff.
Urinary tract infection. The antibiotic they gave me was one that I am alergic to and didn't know it. Broke out in a horrible rash on the lower part of my body. Better now, still on Prednisone.
oh dear. Am glad things are a little better now, peach. *hug* Such unpleasantness.
sidenote: so close to coitus. How frustrating.
ugh, peach...naughty peeps to prescribe you the wrong meds. you poor darling. are you on sachets to alkanise your urine? as well? and do you have the correct an5 now?
Thanks much, Sprite. Please keep me in your prayers.
I will, peach.
I think so, Rose. It has been very unpleasant. I literally could not get out of bed with the vertigo. Had to have someone come and sit me up and then the vomiting started.....friend called ambulance and spent about 4 hours in ER.
that is very bad vertigo. Poor peach! And yay for good friends.
Amen to that, sprite.
awww peach...not the best day of your life, i am sure. and now?? how do you feel now?
I am just now getting some strength back. I don't get that sick often. Thankfully.
such things take so much out of you. I hope you will take your time getting back to your old strength.
Think I will finish this later.....Blessings y'all.
bye peach, all the best *hug*
xoxox, peach...i pray you will feel better sooner rather than later, hun
any sign of our pugs yet, rose?
nope hun. i am hoping it means she is having a sleep in
yeah that would be great
btw, our canary...he has been decidedly disgruntled the last few days. sitting on the bottom of his cage, feathers all fluffed out. i twigged he was cold, and put his cage cover 3/4's of the way over him.
oh good for you! And did he like that?
don went one step further...and has turned the heater on, at the other end of the house, to warm the whole house....for a bird!!
roflolololllll oh god that man is priceless
lol, bird is happy...
sprite, he is amazing....i mean don, of course.
hehehe I knew you meant Don. And yes, he certainly is. Must be to keep a wonderful woman like you riveted.
i hope pus is okay. just realised how late it is for her.
ughhh...*pugs*
yeah, for her, it is late. But for normal sleep it is still early. So maybe she is having a real good night of sleep.
praying it so, sprite. it would be wonderful, right?
sure would
i keep praying she will get into a "normal" routine. perhaps the combo of working and the meds will get er there.
that would be awesome. She really needs something like that.
*sigh* her...
i really need to cut the finger nails...i think i have typed a letter, and i haven't done so...uuughh!
but that is a very good sign on you, rose :)
*giggle* yes sprite. teeth not connecting with fingernails.
very good. That means that the stress you are under now is purely physical. Not good either, but more manageable.
oh, yes, sprite. exactly.
*hugs*
{{hugs}} back at you.
:)
Ooh a hug party (((Rose, Sprite)))
*hugs zooz* Hello dear friend! How are you doing today?
I am well thank you, Spritey, Are you having hot sunny weather like here?
ooohhh, hello zooz
not really, zooz. We are having the hot part, but it is mostly overcast here. Very muggy.
Cooeee! Rose :-)
how are you, mate? i know this last week or so has been diddicult. how is the mother?
* hangs head* difficult...
---> likes 'diddicult'.
you would, sprite
:D
and cooee zooz
My mother is doing well, she wanted a place for the ashes. So we have made a nice area in the garden for the urn to go..not my kind of thing but that is what she would like :-)
ah you are such a wonderful son, zooz. She is lucky to have you.
I thought you were cutting your finger growth, Rose lol
yeah, i know, zooz. it's so hard. * avoids diddicult*.
am gonna add it to the dictionary
mother mac has been put into two urns....to have father mac added to hers...
How are you keeping, Sprite? Rose?
with the nail clippers, zooz, not the teeth
I am fine, thanks zooz.
My mother did not want the ashes spread about in different places..she said she would prefer her son in one place and where she can speak to him.
zooz, have had a very quiet saturday here...just my shower and re-make the bed with clean sheets to go...oh, and of course dinner.
to each their own. I can understand her wish.
That sounds kind of half-ashed to me
Yes I hope so. Rose, I think like , Sprite, said it is good you are not biting them :-)
lol ruru!
Hello, Ruru :-)
aagghh!! who rattled the ruru's chain?
never mind, a happy welcome to ruru...
I guess mother mac urned that right
Wow, Ruru, is in New Zealand!
LOL you are terrible, Ruru
most literally ashes to ashes, rose
when the ruru hits new zealand...i so hope it is not when don and i are in europe/uk.
Ashes to ashes a great David Bowie song :-)
wany
brb
Ok as you can see I am on the Ws..Very sorry everyone.
Sunny here. ZOoz...:D
ruru, you had better let me know when you plan to be in new zealand.
Just applied for my passport.

*grin*
GN everyone...
it was my neighbour's daughter, to ask if we had any small crosshead screwdrivers. We did.
night night, ruru, sweet dreams
Have a wonderful sleep, Ruru.
sleep well, ruru
I always make sure I have philips screw heads & flat head screwdrivers.
is that what they are called in english? The cross ones? Philips screwdrivers?
ditto crossy. i know. it is a strange statement from a female...but it is true, mate
same for me. I even have my own sets. Because my husband puts his away in different places all the time.
Yeah for some reason..probably because the guy who invented them was named philip..I am not sure though.
i/we have a set of small phillip's and straight screw driver bits.
ok, will try and remember that. In dutch they are called, literally translated, crosshead screwdrivers. "kruiskopschroevedraaiers"
I too have a couple of sets..you can never have too many. I must admit I do leave mine all over the place.
okay, spritey..i will remember that...too
mine are always in the same spot, so I can grab them without having to search for them.
Wow that is a mouthful, Spritey, but crosshead is used just as often too here.
some word to remember, huh rose :D
ah, that is good to know, thanks zooz
zooz, sprite, did you know one of the first presents don bought me....was a set of my own to4s.
LOL really?
oh that is awesome, rose! I bet you knew he was a keeper straight away :)
this was before i introduced him to the concept of NO yours and mine. lol
lol, really, zooz
I like having my own set. At least I can find them when I need them, lol.
yes, i know, sprite. but it is also a good principal to learn that WE share.
Medical question...I have an itchy scalp have had it for years now..I had been given nizoral from the doctors which does not do anything..I have tried itchy scalp head & shoulders shampoo and many many ohters but noe work..Any ideas what I could try?
Sorry doctor said I have eczema of the scalp.
lol yes, true, rose. My love and I have this running gag. In dutch law, when you are married, everything you buy (like a house) is yours 'for the undivided halve'. So we always use that phrase, even for a simple apple.
ouch, eczema, that is not easy to treat
zooz, sounds to me like eczema. ask your doctor for a liquid cortisone solution which you can use.
That is the only place I get eczema thank goodness..but when I am on a bus it sometimes looks like I have head lice or fleas..lol
That is what Nizoral is I think, Rose.
oh, dear...am i right again??
don't wear any hats or such, be outdoors and in the sun often, try to lower the stress levels (yeah right).
LOL yeah right is ..er right, Sprite..I do try but as you know not easy..lol...I do not wear hats though and I do like being outside as often as I can.
and don't wash your hair too often. Especially with heavy duty stuff like head & shoulders, it will make things worse in stead of better.
You are always right, ((Rose))
baby oil for the crusty spots and baby shampoo are recommended.
hmm, sounds like you need a moisturiser. what do you think, sprite?
Ahh I do wash my hair every other day as I can not stand the thought of being un-clean..have a thing about personal hygiene.
*grin* see below for what I think*
in that case, use baby shampoo, zooz.
Baby shampoo could a great idea!.
Many thanks for your suggestions :-)
yvw dear friend
Will give johnsons & johnsons baby shampoo a try.
fireflies at last. Not an easy grid, for me anyway.
zooz...you are NOT unclean...try to extend your times by a day until you reach 7 days.
Congrats, Sprite!
WTG SPRITE!!!
I know I am not, Rose, I will never let me be either..lol
ty ty :)
noooo, zooz...johnson's are not the answer, mate.
But that is a baby shampoo?
the gentlest baby shampoo you can find. Like Zwitsal (do you have that overthere?)
Not heard of it, Sprite?
will google it to see.
yes, mate...i would rather you try a gentle soap.....like velvet...
velvet s a pure soap...
* is *
I can get hold of Dove products which have a neutral PH balance and they do shampoo too?
No, Sprite, it looks like it is just where you are :-(
hmmm, not sure, zooz.
velvet would be ok
I will ask the chemists what they suggest to use..OK will look up velvet.
you could try Eucerin shampoo as well
Geez looks like I can not get velvet either..this country is crap.
OK searching.
Ahh I can get that one!
Eucerin Dry Scalp Relief Shampoo Dermo Capillaire with 5% Urea 250ml £8.99
good :) We used Eucerin with our kids, who had veery sensitive skins and it was just perfect.
yep, that one, zooz.
ok, am off to sudoku and then some housewifey stuff. *hugs* to you both, and to all a blessed day and a peaceful night.
This one sounds great..will go to the chemists today and see if they have any..thank you very much, Spite.
my pleasure, zooz *hugs*
((Sprite)) Have a wonderful day see you again soon.
sprite, i so hope you have a great day.
last load of washng in the tumble dryer...
Then neatly folded and put away ready to be worn when needed.
roflol...zooz...in my dreams, mate.
:-)
ahhh, tomorrow, tomorrow...church, then deacon's footy match...and lunch....
zooz...did you see the pics in my profile?
Will you be on the side lines shouting for him to score a goal.
I saw the new ones the other day..hold on will look.
zooz, he is under 8 years old...if he connects with the ball, i will be ecstatic...
Yes I remember those ones. I like the train one such a wonderful shot.
8 years old he should be a pro soon then :-)
*giggle* zooz. don is a wonderful photographer.
I also like the eye contact between you and the baby.
oh, yeah. braxton is such a person person...
zooz, being a grandma is so much more than i imagined..
Yes I can see that it would be...You would be lost without them you do not realize how much they impact on your lives...and for the good I mean..gives you another reason of why to get out of bed in the morning..lol
lol. absolutely zooz. to have such small kids recognising you as a significant person n their lives is very humbling.
Rose I need to get going..things to do etc..I am sure you will be going so4 too. Hope you have a nice deep sleep and refreshed for the morning..If you are here and Puglet arrives, Say I said hello for me :-)...Toodle pips for now.
*poof*
toodle pips, zooz. i hope your day is amazing, mate
Morning all

oh and I got the B---I couldnt find the other yet and please repeat what it was if you will I lost my paper
and they didnt have just pain B so I picked a stress B complex, will that be okay
yes, pugs. absolutely.
the plain B was all sold out
Rose have you seen or heard from Wor? Iam worrying about him. I wrote him a couple days ago and he usually writes right back and I havent seen him on for four days now
I hope he didnt get worse

pugs, sprite sent all her love and hugs, dear.
and as for worzel...my prayers are joined with yours...praying for his absolute recovery.
outta here...see you all at the flip....
hello anybody everybody
*Checks to see if she is anybody or everybody*
Probably neiter
but Hello Molly
good morning everyone:)
{{crossy}}
((ruby))
trying for half before I crash. These late-night World Cup games are killing meand I haven't even scorred a goal!
poor ruby:(
Do you watch,Crossy?
I think the US is in a nightmarish group. I don't think they have a prayer of advancing
no, i tend to nod off during soccer games:(
not my cup of tea:(
husband feels the same way but needs to comment on the little he watches.
there is generally more excitement in that stands with viewers trying to kill each other than any excitement on the playing field imho
the 1 -0 games are alittle dull, admittedly. But it'snice to see the distinctive styles of the national teams
OK, half andnbs, so it's time for the NYT crossowrd
I honestly wish i could get into it. I see and hear the love of the game from others, the pride in their teams, and the excitement they feel, but, to me, it is a dull as old dishwater:(
{{xxcrossy}}
tc ((ruby))
I guess you don't like baseball either :)
I had a great time one year watching the World Cup final in a pub in Toronto.
Oh, and good morning all
good morning sukee
actually i used to follw baseball quite regularly when the Blue Jays were at their peak in the early 90's
follow
Blue Jays are doing well this year so far.
very nice:)
I hadn't been into it for a while but for some reason this year i decided would be a baseball watching year :)
yup. As with me, the viewing desire ebbs and flows with the years. I watched American football for the entire season once. I only did it because i was rooting for the underdog team that year, and wished to see how far they would get.
Probably because one of the people I meet for coffee regularly is a Boston fan and talks about baseball a lot.
this year I could care less. My mind is generally full with class assignments and if i can do an hour of idle reading for pleasure and some babble, I count myself fortunate
Yes you do have a lot on your plate :)
I tend to put on the baseball game and do something else, like browsing or research or writing.
right now, I am highly enjoying the Matthew Corbett series by Robert McCammon
Haven't read him. Lately I have been reading freebie books on my Kindle :) I have though been downloading a lot of books from the library, last book was The Rosey Project.
Which reminds me, I'll go see what I can put on hold today. It takes about a month to get them.
Okay, I have 80 left. Going to grab some breakfast.
I had to change from my standard first gen nook reader(which still works fine after all this time) to a nook HD 7 inch tablet/reader. I really wanted a good backlight to read at night
enjoy your brekkie

Nice day for walking here Peri, it's glorious out this morning.
I like to get out early on Saturday and Sunday mornings, before all the "weekenders" are out and about. It's very quiet and peaceful at that time of day.
Apparently I should have spent more time with my coffee, since I am talking to Peri and she bbl-ed

I was just wondering what to do with mine the other day. It's been laying around the house forever.
if you can have an exploit, why can't you have a ploit
sorryMLF , i drifted away to another website there for a moment. Stumbleupon can be a curse:)
but i thank it nearly every day for finding babbleland for me
i used to look at that site a lot too:)
i got it though
yes, I also found babble via stumbleupon
I was working when I found Babble. A student worker was playing it. That's it folks
funny thing is that i have never seen it in stumbleupon since that single time 6 years ago
i sucked wht in during a meeting we were both at
i think i was just looking for a word game to play and it happen to come up
I found it through by recommendation from a friend. I hang out with a lot of word people.
Must have been an interesting meeting JMC
i used to play pseudobabble but i am not sure that exists anymore and hard to find players to play it with most times and i suck at it so i gave up
it was during a break. . . wht is a more honorable person than i am. . . i played it during the meeting. . . in fact it was the same boad at which i am attending today. . . .

now here is an interesting thing; been interested in getting some solar panels for your house? here is a handy-dandy solar panel directional calculator. i will let you rotate post mounted panels to that perfect compass heading for each and every month to optimize you power generating capabilities:))

my solar panels are fixed. . .
well, sadly, rotating your home is a tad more difficult:(
oh i c. . . this is a calculation before you put them on so that you maximize them during the time of year that you would use them the most. . .
do you send to the grid jmc, or just use storage cells?
well i have what is called a semidetached house and my neighbors would get pissed if i moved our houses
yes, jmc, best for directional panels of course
we have serveral farms in the area that use them
i send to the grid (and sometimes get money back) in a city that seems to make the most sense since i rarely am without power. . .
several
i have been trying to get my sister who has a country place get solar panels with a cell so that the many times the electricity goes down she is not without. . . .
here, we prefer to send to storage cells since there are often power interruptions in the more remote areas on blue Mountain
A spinning house. It would be like one of those "top of the town" rotating restaurants.
i do think the day will come when house will have solar panels that rotate slightly to maximise the sun. . . but it ain't here yet
We have way too many tall trees around
stats for the last column i's please
i have tall trees but i have a taller house.
not yet. The pole mounted units i see here would use up most of an average town sized back yard, so they are better for those with a bit of acerage

why? they prefer coal air?
no, solar instead
we do not use coal here that i know of.
It's amazing how many people prefer air pollution to view pollution!
lots of hydro-electricity though
Sad but true, Helen.
nbt
and some nuclear
there were lots of wind combines in china i was happy to see. . . and a solar farm
How much does it cost to outfit your house with solar panels
mm seems most of our old coal stations are closed and being converted to biomass
so, nope. no coal thank god
I was pleasantly surprised to read at the supermarket that their waste produce was sent for compositng
with credits and thinks it was about $15,000 i think. . . but my electric bill was immediately cut in half and more. . .
sometimes i get money for providing electricity to the grid
What about in winter when there is less sun
for those who care, here is a list of our power generating stations: http://tinyurl.com/kl8r4p9
so it definately cost money but i figure in about 10 years it will have more than have paid for itself
last ti 5 clue please?
i have the crown ti5
it produces less energy when it is cloudy but there are enough sunny days and partly sunny days that i am usually making money without lifting a finger. . .
here, a good solar setup to storage cells will pay off in ten years, with the panels themselves lasting 15 with 80% generating capacity remaining in the last 5 years
these are about the same. . . and 20 years from now the technology will be better
A lot of generating stations are switching from coal to natural gas - not a discernible difference as far as carbon goes. Especially since our coal is basically non-sulphur.
yes, the panels are getting better as time goes on
Time to phone my son for a chat - good babbling, all.
bye helen
i don't think that is true helen. . .gas is definately cleaner than coal but not nearly as clean as solar. . .and nothing is as clean as not using energy!
now is actually a good time to convert because when the current panels reach ten years of age, we will be into the cutting edge of solar panel development
bye helen
we have several families on the mountain who are totally off the grid:)

I use to love the saturday afternoon matinee's
now, for me it is too loud with the volume in the theatre, the seats are son uncomfortable i almost need a doctor to get out of them after 2 hours and everyone is talking on cell phone with not a care for those who are actually trying to watch the movie:(
last one we saw in theatre was Life of Pi and for half the movie, three women behind us were prattling on about how they could not undersand the lead character.
now, I wait for it to come out on dvd, blue-ray or Netflix and watch it in my own comfy cinema:)
I agree about movie theaters. If it's not people and their cell phones, it's people talking non-stop.
agreed.they will not shut up. it is incredible that they will pay $15.00 for a ticket and yak through the entire movie
worse is that i can hear them clearly even though the sound system in the theatre is destroying my hearing at 120DB
When you can FEEL the sound, it is too much
I don't understand the ridiculous volume in movie theaters. Did everyone suddenly go deaf?
lol, it is not just me then:)
modern theatres should have headphone jacks for each seat. then we can hear it at our own comfort level if we desire and not have to listen to the yakkers or cell phones unless we wish to
i agree i went to see a movie once it had the surround sound etc it was too loud for me so i waited for hubby in the lobby of the theater. I usualy have to sit with one ear close at theaters. Now with my ears the way they are it varies(though i havent been to a movie theater in a while)
nevermind that. bluetooth head sets are widely available and would be perfect for that application
cross but headphones can mess up your hearing just as easily regardless of noise level
no, they would be adjustable as to volume i would hope
I'm imagining a theater full of people wearing 3D glasses and blue tooths, looking weirder than the aliens on the screen.
set it at your own comfort level with volume
sadly, my eyes cannot register 3-d within movies;)
if they added some of that stuff though i would imagine the price of tickets would be more then it is now
so Life of Pi was a letdown for me in more ways then one
I tried 3D glasses when we went to see Avatar. They gave me a headache. I took them off.
okay i give up what are the stats for the last ti4?
last year, when i was fitted with my very first pair of rx glasses the optometrist told me that my eyes had a condition where they operate fully independantly of each other. there is no harm in this , but it makes watching 3-d movies pointless
Cool. Can you look in different directions with each eye? : D
i can
not wuite like a lizaed. it is hard to explain
Weird, Crossy!

phew got the last t word on first column and that letter is greyed
for example, i can aim through a gun scope with oney eye, and with the other i can see you sitting directly to my left with the other eye
i can make my eyes go out of focus
i can do that as well
and i can unfocus just one eye if using a scope, so i do not close the eye that is not aiming, i just unfocus it
i have no idea how or why and its strange i have met a lot of people with my same disability who can also do it. I know you are not cross but it was pretty shocking that i had heard others liek me can and now to meet someone ese who can in general is so cool
it is cool:)
i consider it an asset, not a disability. it has stood me in good stead in many situations
other than 3-d movies that is
yeah i love doing it at times because i dont have to focus on what a person is saying or the expression on their faces under certain circumstances
i can spot wildlife in a natural setting easier, i can aim a gun more accuratly and you stand less of a chance sneaking up on me
it is a sublte thing. Have not though on it in a while. It just is. I imagine i would miss it horribly if i no longer had the skill
thought
it doesnt come as easily to me as it used to i guess i am losing the skill to do it to an extent
is the st 7 a compound word?

i used to chew gum not bubble gum but its been sticking to my back teeth and my jaw cracks so i dont do it anymore

Tough times for you, Scrabs.
So sorry.
what is wrong scrabby?
I wish, Crossy! My car was vandalized yesterday--window smashed and backpack (with purse) stolen at parking lot of a park. Same for my friend's car.
Trying to get mom home and her car was broken into.
oh no! that is not good
so, theives were casing an entire parking lot i take it:((
scrab that is not good. did you put a stop to any credit cards etc that you or your friend has?
Driver license, 2 credit cards, bank card, AAA card, health insurance card, ...lots to replace. $50 is least of my worries.
yes, the cash is the least of the problem when a purse or wallet is stolen
i had my purse stolen once big pain to get all that stuff stopped

We spent the afternoon making phone calls and none of our cards showed activity. My hope is that the thief wanted cash for a drug purchase and tossed our bags away. Then I hope an honest person finds our bags.

Such a pain!

I feel so violated--someone took MY stuff.
i agree with that its hard to shake scrabbler
It makes you feel vulnerable too.

but i will hide it better from prying eyes now i think, after your tale

scrab how long until you get new cards? only a few days i hope
I have a trunk, so I can do that easily.
our good walking sticks i leave in the house but i always carry a pair of antique bamboo ski poles, one for my beloved and one for myself in the jeep at all times

I had my hiking backpack and left another in the car.
it is terrible when you cannot even leave a few items in a car:(
I will get new cards soon.
i gtg will be back after i eat lunch
scrab thats good :)
Drug addicts want cash for their next fix, so I am hoping our bags were discarded and can be recovered, although that is probably not realistic.
It's not the stuff, it's the trauma.
Yes, I feel paranoid and vulnerable.
I have been robbed, pickpocketed and purse snatched in Europe.
Ugh, to deal with theft in a foreign country is even worse!
never lost much, but still a pain.
I once had a little umbrella stolen from my pocket in Madrid.
They say you should put valuables in the trunk of your car. I'm not sure why when thieves can break the window and pop the trunk.
Madrid is tough.
So they're not visible Molly.
I will look into a home security system, but the problem is I live in a rural area and the sheriff's car would arrive after the thieves departed.
My friend's purse was stolen from her trunk yesterday because the trunk latch was popped.
The best thing is Not to leave anything of value in your car.
Home security in the country is a big dog that bites and a baseball bat.
I don't think Scrab's bunnies would like that.
Yes, and I am mad at myself because I held my purse and almost took it with me, then thought it would be safer in the car rather than possibly getting wet during a hike. Stupid me.
There's no telling Scrabs.
I have heard that parking lots at parks and hiking trail parking lots are often where car thieves will strike, figuring you will be away from your car for an extended period of time.
Yes, the perfect crime scene.
I used to leave my purse in the trunk when we walked around the lake. Now I carry my cell phone and my wallet in a hip pack.
Thieves are desperate.
I am thinking that for day trips I may switch to ca canvas messenger bag that can be hidden under the back seat
The fact is that criminals find ways to be evil, and all we can hope is that they make a mistake.
true
Those crooks take their chances here in Phoenix because it seem like everyone carries a gun...and it's legal to do so.
Yikes.
but they love to steal guns most of all.
they are valuable and salable.
It's not unusual to see someone with a gun holstered on the hip. But gun control only controls the law-abiding citizens..the bad people will always find a gun.
true Mimi
I agree Mimi
We just had a priest killed here a couple of days ago. I'm always amazed anyone can get that churned up in this heat.
must go bbl
I read about that crime, Mimi, as a local priest knew that murdered one.
And just for the record, Phoenix is an isolated area in terms of carrying weapons. Americans are not gun crazed gun toters.
I would think the guys who are obviously carrying would really be a target for someone who wanted to take them by surprise, grab the gun and kill someone, starting with the guy they stole the gun from.
Oh, yes, Molly, it truly is the wild west here. But we actually have much less crime than many places with this size population...go figure.
Did he become a holey priest?
in5 clue please?
If you are carrying a weapon and someone can take you by surprise and grab it, you have no business carrying a weapon.
I must admit it is odd to see guys packing in Home Depot
Oh, Ruru.
why ruru?
Mimi, I read things here that people say about Americans and guns and you would think we are all running around with 9mm Glocks on our hips.
not even here for 5 minutes and already oh ruru
There was a big outcry against Target last week because a guy was shopping in the children's dept. with an automatic weapon slung across his chest.

There was a great scene in Saving Grace where she was supposed to go help her friend scatter his brother's ashes and it turned out they were in the beer can she was using for an ash tray.
I read about your car scrabs.. did they get your credit cards and ID too?
I told my kids to scatter half my ashes over Ouray, Colorado and the other half along the 17-mile drive in Carmel. That way, if they want to visit mom, they get a nice vacation!
Yes, Ruru!
How awful, Scrab!!
I want half of my ashes spread around Thirteenth Lake in the Adirondack Mtns, and the other half at the nearby park. My two favorite places.

I'm going with my children to a Father's Day dinner tonight for my ex. Are we civilized or what?!!!
that's unusual mimi
We did and there had been no activity on the cards within the 1-2 hrs of the crime.
We're much better at being divorced than married. We're king of like brother and sister now.
never mind i found it
That is great and exceptional, Mimi.
hopefully it was kids.. you will have to monitor your credit and see if new stuff pops up
sometimes they just want cash
How can you monitor a canceled card?
you go to Experian or one of the other credit monitoring companies and check
i need the oo 4/5 please?
the problem is that the more you check it affects your credit score.
But if the card is canceled, it can't be used.
they can make new ones molly..it's easy

I thought it was weird that they ran my credit when I bought my car
We all get together for Christmas/Thanksgiving as well. There's just no point carrying hard feelings from the past. Our issues were most about being married, so now we don't have those and we can be friends. It's nice for our kids that we get along. He even comes over to help me with household things from time to time. It's great....he does the heavy lifting and then leaves! I especially like the leaving part, I must admit.
ruru they do that here in the US anytime with a big purchase if i am not mistaken

Yes, Mimi left (or may have left, you never know with Mimi) but Judi can still check in with her later.
like I'd be some guy to buy a $50K car under a false name and drive it off
And why would they care, they got their money. Weird.
That would be so gangster!

Oh, well then you're busted Ru.

Drug dealers usually just steal cars. Or drive them off the lot for a test drive and never return them.
And from what you've said, the IRS has sucked your last vein dry, so no worries about them.

You know the irs wants their due no matter how the money is earned
Lucky you ru
the IRS is sucking this weekend again Molly I pay quarterlies
That is my dream. To walk into a dealership one day and when they say "how would you like to finance this?" my answer would be "I'm not financing it". Whee!

Hope you are writing off the car as a business expense, ru.

Yes indeedy judi :D
That's my boy!

that's what I thought judi.. but that wasn't the case

got it ty molly
Aw, poor Ru. I bet you cried right out to that gorgeous car of yours. : P
Perhaps Jubi is my dyslexic twin??
*whimper*
is the sa 6 an extension of another sa word?
And a car that luxurious probably has a little hand that pops out and dries your tears for you.
I haven't found that feature yet :D
LOL. No doubt, Molly.
sp far, the irs is taking 15 percent of our social security
I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop
the irs takes 40% of my income ruby
I've always said that if cars could...well, you know if they could...men would have nothing to do with women.
they have iven me a bill for so much more than I have, altogether, that the 15 percent makes me shicker
*snort* It's only a matter of time, Molls.
I think the car has been easier on me than marriage Molly :D
snicker*
Time to go get some work done. See you kids tomorrow! *POOF*
bye judes
gm ruby
the good news is that the weather is wonderful and there is starting to be fruit. I picked about 3 lbs (after cleaning) of red currants today but there are still 4 times that on the bushes
It is a lot of work, but it's worth it come January when the red currant jelly is a vitamin-rich treat
hard work ruby
I am making apple jam this year
Is anybody else watching the world cup?
I watch "real" football
I've never made anything but apple sauce but since my husband doesn't mind eating the commercial stuff, I don't bother
i am on computer hubby is playing supernintendo
I love making homemade apple sauce
hahah, ru, which one is real?
*Also a "real" football watcher*
We have two apple trees, but since I can't spray them, the apples tend to be wormy
i watch US football
I preferred soccer even when I still lived in the US
but was really a baseball fan
ruby eww on the apples
I'm just becoming Frencher and Frencher as the years go by lol
where did you use to live ruby?
I get great fresh produce from the Amish market near here. I will miss that if we ever move.
we?
I grew up in NYC, then lived in Pullman,WA, Carbondale, IL, Princeton, Europe (a little), Binghamton (a lot) and then Miami
I still have a son living at home Ru.
wow that is a lot of moving
oh.. I didn't know that
there isn't any local produce here, the area is too touristy for there to be farms, just local cheese
wow
I think all that moving is mainly what killed my first marriage
Ha, Ru thought he had tripped into some scandal about me and a live in lover. : D
they seem to be going around theses days :D
"She'll never tell!"
would make for good press for certain players
Yes, I should have just fed the gossip mill.
then I could ghost-write YOUR book, molly
Facebook entry: NOW MOLLY IS LIVING IN SIN!
You forgot to add "that bitch" : P
"does she have any limits at ALL?"
...hang on..
hahahah
i have 69 left will be back
That Bitch probably has a man 15 years younger than her
:D
which bitch? I think I've missed something.....
inside joke ruby
Well, unless you read the Babble Facebook page.
I'm so glad I can't get into Facebook.. it wouldn't be pretty
I didn't know there was one
Really Ruby?
I'm in facebook but didn'tknow
I mostly use it for seeing photos of my friends and my son's "gigs"
That's strange because your Babble name/real name is listed there and that is only supposed to be done by the person whose name it is.
hmmm, maybe I've forgotten At my age, that's surely possible
I just looked at the whole bbabble community and didn't see my name. Where did you see it,Molly?
good morning, all :)
good morning nan
Good afternoon. It's turned into a glorious day
Oh good Bich, it's gorgeous here too.
We deserve it after the rain and humidity of the last few days
Yep, we've had a lot of rain here too. Everything is green and lush.
it's another sunny day here in paradise

hi all, back from a nice time at a small park with a lovely creek.
I better get going soon.. I'm a slacker today.. and have lots to do
any damage to your knees, ru ? ;-)
And so is the story of how we are deprived of Father Ruru. *Blesses self*
It was all the praying that did it nan :D
*Imagines Ru in the confessional, on the priest side*
OH BOY
Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have this intense desire to have sex with every man I meet. My child, you need to come and see me in the rectory for your penance.
Parishioner: Father, forgive me for I have sinned.. I thought evil thoughts about a co-worker...Father Ru: Oh, get over yourself..
* having a hard time imagining a celibate ruru
me too
I'm heading out for work.. later everyone have a great day....
Bye Ru xxxxxx
bye molls xxxx

wonder why sotto isn't recognized -- all those other latin terms are!
Enable is persnickety, Nan.
hate the use of t for a pt - would like to strike that from enable
Also, I don't think sotto stands alone in Italian. I think it needs to be part of a phrase, like sotto voce.
hopefully we will get a dictionary some day that is controlled by a person who knows how to spell
Oh I don't think so. I don't think Dr. God has any plans to upgrade this place.
There are a lot of words that use t for past tense. Blest, burnt, crept, dealt...
the last 3 I agree on, but blest is really blessed
blest be the pure in heart? --- I don't think so!
You could say the same about burnt, it's really burned.
it burned, but it was burnt
Blest is an Old Testament word. It's used a lot in the Psalms.
Burnt and burned are used interchangeably. "She was burned at the stake"
but not the Beatitudes -- strange
It all depends on who was writing and how long they had been fasting in the desert. : )
think we could go back and forth on this all day - no wonder those for whom english is a second language get confused!
It's not just English. Many languages have oddities about them. I can tell you that from experience in my attempts to learn French.
hi all. and just to but in, some languages (like French) have an official board to govern spelling, and when new words arrive, how they will be spelled, etc, but nothing like that for English
Oh, always feel free to but in Gwen. Your insight is appreciated. : )
Is carnail a form of S&M?
and butt in, too lol
people have been trying to start an english spelling reform movement for at least 100 years. there is too much resistance.
gave up on remembering all the conjugations in french --- found out that most french people really don't care if you can speak the language perfectly or not -- they are just pleased that you try to communicate in french. Also found that my broken french makes them more comfortable trying to speak english.
Of course there is. Who wants to have to re-learn their language?
seriously, we should just start pronouncing things all wrong, just to prove that we need spelling reform. Ri-ch-t?
lol - in scotland you would be right with richt!
Nan, I can't count the number of times I said to my husband, "what do you mean there is no translation for that?"
i get a kick out of the name of the actor, Sean Bean. "seen been" or "shawn bawn" but never "shawn been" LOL
cyber, exactly! and richt sounds cool, too
As a person of Irish descent, I have never heard the name Sean pronounced as seen.
to rhyme with bean . . . get it
me neither, but then I am of scottish descent, which is close enough
to 6/27, please?
And if you want to get into a crazy, non=phonetic language, there is Gaelic. Siobhain...pronounced shiv-awn
gaelic-speakers are on their own LOL
to6...like a play thing
i have a welsh dictionary, with a pronunciatino guide, but of course, a lot of letters have more than one possible sound (just like english) so I'm still in the dark with the welsh
ty molly -- keep forgetting that suffix is there
Sorry, any language that uses consonants for vowels is not in my interest zone.
my cousins granddaughters speak gaelic because they are teaching it in the Scottish schools now, but she never learned. Mind you she understands her d-i-l who speaks with a strong Fife dialect -- have no idea what she is saying half the time.
you mean like the w in gwen? yep! 8-)
touche!
LOL Hi All
But isn't Gwen a Welsh name?
welsh is kind of cool to me, since i have a welsh name (no welsh heritage) and now since they make Doctor Who in wales

How are you doing Zoom? I found that the hardest part of losing someone is when things calm down a little and people stop asking after you.
So true Molly.
When the dust settles, reality sets in.
I am doing well thanks, Molly, I do still have bouts of just bursting into tears. But I do not mind as much as I know that is normal..Many thanks for asking :-)
i have the wa 5/18 when you bend your body at the wa***
It's like life goes back to normal for everyone else and you are just like "what's normal?"
blessings on you Zoom.

You are in my good thoughts Zoom. And those bouts of tears seem to happen at the most awkward times...at least they did for me.
right, what is that anyway?
normal is a concept we think other people are :-)

good one Babs
Yes you are so right, Molly I was on the bus yesterday and a lady I do not know came over and sat next to me bless her, as I just burst into tears I was OK about it in the end..just a little awkward..lol
Other people seem "normal" when you are going through something like grief or another intense, personal experience.
that is so true molly
zooz,please accept my condolences.
Those are the golden people, Zoom. I'm glad one of them was there for you.
Thank you, ((T Owl))

Hello babbleworld. 5 1/2 hours putting in veggie garden. Time to babb;e!
Would love to come to visit..but there is no way I could afford to go plus I do not have a passport as it ran out a few years back..lol
Hi Jilly
Hi Jilly, That's alot of work.
Wow you have worked your garden well, Jilly!
You deserve a nice babble break!
Getting it in late this year, but God blessed with a cooler forecast for the next several days. *fingers crossed*
What veggies have you planted, Jilly?
Corn, snow peas, zucchini, beets, lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, carrots, radishes, beans, tomatoes, onions, basil
nice salad
LOL...no wonder I'm tired!
The only veggie left to buy are potatoes. Nice garden.
right!!
wow a nice variety there..I love zucchini or as we call the courgettes :-)

I also love the smell of fresh basil..wonderful.
Interesting...will have to remember that!

Oh my God, the coffee at McDonald's here is awful.
Life is different in Brooklyn
Everything there is delish!
Molly, Not in my part of Brooklyn. Excellent coffee.
Annie, I'm glad they can brew it well somewhere.
Our vegetable garden is thriving. I have snap peas, green peppers and tomatoes bursting forth. : D
me too. definitely. there are 3 mcd's in my area and they all have excellent coffee.
I would love to have a garden. I once tried tomatoes but the wind up here destroyed them.
Blew all the way to Jersey.
:)
:)
Poor little tomatoes.
shriveled little things hanging by a thread.
Good coffee at our McDonalds as well. But now feeling like a nap...
Awww....
jill, you deserve a good rest. work well done.
Annie, you mentioned that about trying to grow tomatoes earlier. I asked my friend who is smart as a whip about growing vegetables. He said that tomatoes need a lot of water and that a lot of wind will dry them out.
Molly, that is exactly what happened.
dehydrated toms
need loads of sun too.

*Pours a shot of Tullamore Dew for anyone who can handle it*
LOL...just attended a craic soodle...for that friends wedding celebration...she's now back in Dublin
ho6,21 almost the same as the st7,28
Good thing Soodle was around to tell you what a craic was before you attended. : D
As they say around here, (terribly politically incorrect), 'You can bate the wife, but you can't bate the craic'. Bate as in 'beat'
True dat! Lots of fun, met all her new Irish family AND got an open invitation to visit!!
*Watches as all the politically correct run from chat, screaming*
And oh yes, true dat!!!!
Jilly, that's wonderful. I'm very glad you had fun. So, when are you going to take them up on their invitation..... You know it would be rude not to accept. C
Had such fun..way too much to drink...the 'biys
were forever refilling me glass...
*Shocked* No lemon water??
I'm gonna set a goal of within the next 2 years!
mm,lemon water. sounds like a wild time:)
LOL, Molly...have had to subsist since then on nothing BUT lemon water to make up for that!
Oh, to be sure. And almonds and lettuce wedges.
Well, Jilly, you can forget your lemon water if you get here. You may put on your drinking hat, and save the lemon water for the morning after!
ty Molly
LOL...will be so much fun!!
Peri, I'm painting my toenails, and you keep popping into my head. (Pandarosa Pink, if anybody's interested!)
:)
I need to redo my pedicure.I have 3 blue polishes: bikini so teeny, sail la vie and endless blue.
the bikini one is a light periwinkle, the 2nd is a dark sky blue and the last is almost a cobalt blue
I have sail la vie on at the moment
I am partial to blues
Oooh! Bikini so teeny all the way! How could anybody resist a name like that? Pandarosa Pink sounds lame by comparison.
I love the color but it is really too light for toes
Okay, halfway...pillows are calling me...nap time!
Snooze well ((((Jilly)))))
I would have thought "I'm Not A Waitress" red for the toenails.
I have a coral polish called Romance that I put on my toes sometime
I don't do pastels on my toenails. Usually some bold red, or a sparkly red.
I've just had a lovely Skype chat with my daughter Sarah. She relocated to the UK on Thursday. I miss her like crazy, but it was a strategic career move. (She got a great job there, and there are no jobs here) i'm happy she seems comfortable there.
good for her Soodle.
I like relocated better than emigrated. Emigrated sounds like she's never coming back.
Girl and Boy child of Soodle will be partying down in the UK.
Wow, how things have changed. She was taken on a Skype tour of her new billet before she committed. I have Google-Mapped where she is living, up and down the street. It's amazing how technology can allay a fretting mother's fears.
Oh dear, you are stalking her on Facebook and mapping her whereabouts on Google maps. : O
And that was before she left, Molls!
another break, bbl
When I think about the misfortunate people who left this country during the Great Famine, or more recently, during the 1950's or '60's, I thank God for advances in technology.

Hardy Har Har Molly! Seriously! I'm not that bad! I'm painfully aware that there are some things that my offspring engage in, that I really DON'T need to know about.
Indeed. And at least you are honest about that. So many people consider their offspring "sainted" with no chance of doing anything untoward.
I'm a 'Need to know' Mom
Funny, I'm a "would rather not know" Mom. Especially after they fessed up about some of the things they did, that I missed.
Once mine got old enough to live their own lives, I let them tell me what, where and when things were going on. All part of my letting go process.
I hear you, Molly. A policeman friend of mine told me about an incident about 4 years ago. My Paul (son of Soodle), and about 10 of his buddies, all 19-20 ish, decided to drive round & round a roundabout in the middle of our town. Nobody could get onto the roundabout, or off it. The little monkeys created havoc for about 4 hours, until the local constabulory arrived & threatened to arrest the lot of them. Not a hanging offence, but they annoyed the whole toe
...the whole town..
And hey, it is no big surprise that you and I have kids that would do something like that. : D
And then, there was the incident when Paul 'acquired' a blue flashing light, and was almost done for impersonating a police officer... Good Lord. No wonder I'm prematurely grey!
Oh damn, this is making my kids and their misadventures look good. (I'm developing a serious like for your son)
But, for all his illegal activity, it was pretty harmless. Nobody got hurt... Intensely annoying, but harmless. You'd love Son of Soodle, Molls. He's a diamond!
I have no doubt that I would get along with him famously. And the other two Gems Of Soodle.
:-)
Good evening all
Hello sukee. Quiet chog this afternoon. Mostly cloudy skies here int he great Northwest but the temperatures are pleasant in the 60s.
It's sunny and warm in Ontario :) Thank goodness the humidity is gone.
You have had such weather the past six months! Time for a break!!
Hardly :) Spring seemed to take forever to get here.
I've known a couple of Babblers from the central part of Canada who moved to BC for retirement years. Evidentally Ontario is a good place to make a living.
This grid is frustrating today.
Too many words and a strange combination of letters on the grid. Some grids are so intuitive and this one is not.
Who know a character from Happy Day would be in the grid :)
Have a good evening. Time to play games with Murphy and then fix dinner.
Have fun

what's with the foot?
no. it still hurts. wondering how long that will last. watched everyone dance last night.
Keeping it up when you can will reduce the pain, and I'd guess for several weeks.
sounded as if it should be gone in 4; why else would dr schedule follow up in four weeks "if i need it"?
4=several...LOL...but downside is if you have any underlying issues like osteoporosis and not healing
dr says osteoporosis is not a factor in healing.

Hello there MollyL!Thank you! I am used to it. I go through this every single year. At least this year I did not have to go get a nebulizer treatment like I have had to do past years.

*Adjusts her smarty pants*
*offers belt to hold them up*
ha xxxxxxx
How was your walky? Are you talking about yourself in the third person now? xxxx
Dylan loves his walkies :D
he doesn't pee as much as une's dogs though
<--admits he talks baby talk to his dog
As long as you don't talk that way to adults, I'll give you a pass.
oh.. not to adults xxxx
Good, because women will think strange things about you if you start referring to their breasts as boobies.
to adults: it's "I am taking the DOG for a WALK*
I couldn't do that to a woman either
To the dog: Does Mr. Dylan wants to go for walkies?
*tail wagging*
I do know why they call them boobs though
...waits for it...
because men who are so focused on them are boobs
One of my favorite Saturday Night Live skits was Women With Eyes Where Their Breasts Should Be.
I never saw that one
I tooled around in my car today with the top down.. sooooo much funxxxxxxx
Female aliens who had evolved eyes on their breasts because that is where men were always looking. : D
ah,..that's funny
Top down, shades on, rolling down the highway...xxx
it is really fun
I shudda done it years ago
mrs. ru wouldn't allow it
think i'm going to lie down for a bit..
