Hi rose :)
How are you today?
Going to start my day, happy babbling all
You too, Chrissie :-)
ugh, sorry chrissie. i missed you. was ov4 answering emails. g'day zooz
Hello,Rose, Had a good day?
yes, thanx, mate. and you and the missus? how was your day?
oh, dear, your day is just starting, right?
I live alone but everything is fine so far..but it has onnlyjust started..lol
Yes..lol
i so need a holiday...my brain is mush lately...i have really had too much happening at once. * sigh *
I understand, Rose,It has been an eventful year or so for you.
oh, mate, and you also...
i am trying desperately to hold onto the shreds of my sanity...between pain and drugs...i thank the Lord everyday for my husband...
Yes it is nice to have some-one there to help you get through the trials of everyday life especially when things start to go haywire.
so, zooz, how is your day shaping up?
Well I am having a nice cup of tea. Then I will be going to the car-boot sales. The one time my dad likes to get out and about very slowly but out non the less. Then I will be making Sunday meal for us all at parents home. Then probably back here to finish babble if I can..lol
what an amazing son you are, zooz!
I don't mind as it keeps me company too :-)
this gives me a lovely snapshot of you, thank-you.
do you ev4 find any bargains at the car-boot sales?
Well my father and I have this thing where we both try and find oil paintings (Nice ones) going for only a couple of pounds. I only have a few whilst my father has about 100 or so now.And they are all hanging up all over their house..lol
I let him win of course :-)
I do like oil paintings but I seem to prefer water colours.
lol....my mother painted...in oils...we think in the future her paintings are going to be worth a packet...
Yes we have a laugh and say one of these paintings could be worth millions.
Then we google the names and find they are only worth about £50 or so..Although we do not mind as the paintings are really nice.
hold onto them, zooz. they will be worth a fortune one day.
I do hope your mothers paintings will be worth a lot of money. That would be awesome for your grand children!
* giggle * zooz. she was a prolific painter...and she was taught by one of australia's leading artists.
Wow sounds like she was professional standards. Did she sell any of her works?
my mum had no particular ' style '. thank goodness. she ne5 sold any of her works...she painted in so many styles.
i loved her realistic style. some people like her 'lead-light style.
Sounds like she got so much pleasure out of paintings. I tried to paint but I stayed at the style of say a four year old..lol
roflol...zooz...i am guessing your paintings are gonna be worth a fortune.
You will have to take photos of some and put them on flickr, Would like to see some of them.
zooz, mum painted scenes all ov4 australia. she also painted from photos.
Have you tried to paint, Rose, You might have her artistic touch!
as a child/te4 my parents took us to a lovely holiday spot called wilson's promontory. we camped in a caravan and tent for so many years.
* giggle * yes, zooz. and dear husband has se4 my efforts, and wants me to paint.
when i retire....that is when i will think about painting again.
Why wait to retire. You can always find a little time to sit and let your hands to some magic over a canvas and bring it to life before your eyes.
zooz, i studied "art" as at a senior level at secondary school. my efforts were ev4 included in the annual school magazine.
We did camping when i was young too, Rose, Mostly around the Cornwall area of the UK. Loved it as a child. Not sure I would enjoy it now though.
Wow sounds like you are very good at it then, Rose, Why on earth would you want to put it off and wait until you are retired. Get painting!
zooz, as i said to my beloved. all mod. cons. dear...nothing less...
Yes at my age now I tend to agree with that, Rose..lol
Some people in their seventies I know still love camping. Not for me though.
nor me, zooz.don't get me wrong..love the great outdoors..but keep me comfy...
I also tend to get cold very quickly and it takes me an age to warm up again.I get that from my mothers side that is for sure.My sister said I must of been a reptile in my past life..lol
lol...i roughed it so much as a kid...now is the time to be cosseted.
zooz?? how is your mum going?
She is doing well now thanks, Rose, Now we have the ashes and a little area made for him in their garden she is much happier.
please know...my heart goes out to her...
great, zooz. something solid for her to hang onto.
Thank you. I have told her several times about how the babble community sends their best wishes to us.And she is thank full.
Yes he had a very rough life in the end, Rose, I think mother wanted him home.
poor darling!! i so wish i could give her hugs and kisses. oh, well, you will have to do!! and that is not a bad thing..
Mother is well looked after now bless her. I know it hit her hard. After all no one wants to see their siblings going before you.
zooz...i am not sure why your bro died...if you would rather, email me.
He was found unconscious by a pathway and was taken to hospital..passed away four days later. We did not ev4 know about it untill some-one phoned us and said he had passed away. It was through drink and where he had been out for a while, he formed blood clots in the legs and they must of traveled and stopped his heart as far as i am aware..So sad. As we kept trying to contact him. But he did not want to know. We live on the isle of Wight and he was living on the mainland in Oxford.
It is hard to explain. but he just would not let us in. We tried we so did try. But you can not live someones life for them even if you can see it is damaging them.
Morning all, Zooz my nieces demise was similar to your bros - she was found 4 weeks after she had died but had cut us all off - it was v sad as well
my sister is still not over it yet - it was in 2011
Hello ((Kazzer)) long time no see. Sorry to hear you have gone through similar. It is sad as you feel helpless to help if that makes sense. I even went to Oxford and stayed in a hotel for a few days to find him and offer help. But he did not want to know.He was not horrible to me.just said I am happy chap and don't worry.
Four weeks is a long time, Kazzer, So sorry to hear that.
hey ya kazzar...and zooz...that is too sad.
kazzar...oh, dear..why do our young on4 so not to want to connect to their history?
IT makes you think that you could do something but if when you reach out and you get turned down it hurts but like you said you can only offer - people have to live their own lives
Exactly, Kazzer, then when the worse happens you start to question yourself if you could of done more. I have come to the conclusion I just could not get through to him. But I think my mother still has her niggles in her mind..what if and so on.
my niece had emmense other mental problems as well - her boyfriend died but he was an alcoholic as well
my sister has been off sick with depression since it happened. She found out the day before her birthday
Sad, Kazzer, very sad.
Has other members of the family tried to chat with her and see if they can help in any way?
Not really - it didn't help that my dad dropped dead 6 months later - that was a shock that my mum still hasn't come to terms with. it made for a very sad 2011
sticking my big nose in: Kaz, has your sister been on anti-depressants? They work for a lot of people
someties they wrk with talk therapy, man time even without.
kazzer...xoxox my dear. it is o hard to lose both parents.
I am a big believer in psychotropic meds
wow once again sorry to hear that, ((Kazzer))
{{ hugs}} ruby, my darling
Hello, Ruby.
{{ro**}} and you're in the grid again!
{{zzoozz{{
she wasn't but she is now and I think she is slowly getting better. It help that the youngest has moved out and she has a mad collie for company
{{Kazzer}} that is all very sad
ruby..of course i am...
When I was on anti-depressants I tried so many different types and non of them worked for me.I am sure they do help many people but it did not stop me trying to end my life three times.
Aww I think having a pet is great therapy..good for her.
he hates me - has bittern me twice but my son loves him and i think that helped him get over the Dad - he lives with them
I take Xanax for anxiety and it gets me through the night (since 2001) but, years ago, during a severe depression, I took anti-d's and they enabled me to work through the whole thing
Little bugger..you must be very tasty, Kazzer *giggles* Just been looking after my sisters's dog..little tear away that one too.
when the dog comes near you, kazzer, sprinkle some hot pepper flakes on his nose
I am very pleased they worked for you, Ruby.
Aww that sounds cruel?
I was fortunate.
He is just being protective of his master :-)
No zzoozz, the dog will just sneeze and might think twice about biting. The other way is to be armed with a waater pistol
Or he thinks he is head of the group..lol one or the other.
I would stick a rubber bone in his mouth just as he tries to take a bite..that would have the little bugger :-)
OK it is almost time for car-boot sales..take care all and happy babbling. ((Rose)) ((Kazzer)) ((Ruby))
okay, no puglet, and no sprite. much as i enjoy chatting with you all, i hope your days are kind to you all. xoxox

good afternoon all - keep wanting to try canoe
LOL...just tried overeach
Oh my goodness! I forgot to share...my hubby and his bro went fishing last night in their new boat.
hi wv
Hubby stood up to cast, tumbled, boat tipped and filled with water...no more boat.
uh oh
How fun...but did they bring home hish!!
oh no !
Crap!
<---obvisiously typed before second post
Lost their boat, motor, fishing gear....Thank goodness they had remembered the life jackets. They used those to lean on while they swam back to shore. I am so thankful that they are safe.
thats the good news :)
Wow, guess old St Peter was looking out for his fishermen!
They went back over in the canoe (that's what made me think of it to share) and recovered the tackle box and their bottle of Southern Comfort and a few other items. They toasted to their good fortune.
car easier to replace gear then it is a spouse, relatives or friends/family
So who is the Saint who watches over boats who was slacking?
We lost one friend's brother that way.
but no this time car
THANK GOD!!!!! AMEN!
Ah, Saint Brendan. Figures, he's an Irishman. Was probably in some Heavenly pub.
What kind of boat was it, may it rest in peace.
the Irish have saints to watch over everything?
are both the ev 7's plurals?
Pretty much Ru. If there isn't one already named, we make one up. : D
oh ok
my mom buried a small statue of a saint she thought would help sell our condo when we lived in va
was that Saint Sotheby's mlF?
LOL
St. Joseph. Weird tradition of burying his statue upside down to sell houses.
i dont think so ruru
I only have one EV 7 and yes it is a plural.
upside i didnt know that part. Was my mom's idea so i let her do it
*note to self... bury ten st joseph's around my old house*
Just got the other one...not a plural
car can you clue it please?
I mean, how weird is it to see "bury St. Joseph to sell your home"?
I can't find one more word
ruru are you trying to sell a house?
the most level
car - can u clue the one that is not a plural
just did
praying to St joseph gets the same result
the one you clued has a plural car
its 4 6 7
thnx - just saw it and got it
i have that one
Nope...superlative ending
I like the idea of burying him more jaxx
most level is not a pl - one who makes klevekl is pl
4, 6, 7, 7
ah ty car
yes 4 6 7 7
But on his head?
whatever molly says to do
That is the tradition jaxx.
who am I to buck tradition
jaxx my mom just took the little statue and buried it but not upside down
that sounds like you dont really want to sell the place you are trying to if the statue has its butt in the air
My American cousin merely prayed to him when we were having trouble selling my MIL's house. it worked within a week.
I don't think it's that way with Joseph.. but a lot of Catholic priests are apparently head first
jaxx that is pretty amazing
ruru my mom is Catholic
Perhaps we were just lucky if I didn't follow tradition. The house had been on the market for over 12 months.
did your condo sell mlf?
i live in nc now ..it sold faster then we thought. The guy who bought it was a jerk.
I updated my pic...please let me know if it needs to be resized.
wow jaxx
Another Saint that I find very helpful is St Jude.
agreed jaxx especially at the hospital for children
The only saints I can keep straight are from New ORleans
:)

Bye Aloy
I need the CE 5/12 and 6/21 x 3 right in the middle of the batch
The 5, phonetically, sounds like Mexican nap
ty molly
Then plural, then a different vowel ending plural, then two vowels at the end.
I hope that makes sense.
wow.. I'm confused :D
Okay, one sounds like basil sauce.
there ya go
But its a plural
I always thought Mexican nap was Nappo
The other one ends Frenchified.
Fireworks! TY Molly!
Anyone need clues before I go do layndry?
Dangnabit...laundry it is then.
I bid you all a wonderful day!
layndry sounds more interesting
I'd probably do my clothes more often that way

ah then no alcohol for you lol
**p dance?
does that work better than the window part?
ah ty trent got it

It appears that our Peri, delicate creature that she is, has had a bit too much sun today : D
but I did use sunscreen and wore a hat and had an umbella
for the E in the first column i have er5/12 er 6/33 and er 4/4 what am i missing?
I got up very early and the drive to and from the beach is long but it was worth it
I spent all day yesterday out in the sun at a Spartan race and was constantly slathering myself with sunscreen [and my g'daughter too]
How long of a drive for you Peri?
about 2 hours each way :(
er8 mlfan
wish I had a place at any shore or knew someone who did
Sunscreen will keep you from getting burned and will protect from UV rays, but it won't do anything about what the heat does to you.
movie can you clue it please?
plural of the er6 mlfan
true. I did have cold water with me
hi, all
I do not have the er6 or er8
I wish my sister did not keep the house so cold
you are supposed to apply sunsceeen every 2 hours if in the sun for a long period of time
It wasn't that hot yesterday and the humidity wasn't that high
peri my husband does that too i am always cold in the house.. most of the time
The race was partly in a big parking lot which made the sun even stronger
thank you so much movie!!!!!!!
the only thing worse than wearing a bathing suit is trying on bathing suits
er6/8 means inferior to something, it's a german word
I will never find them movieman
they use the high point tile peri
ok, I will keep looking. this is for the E in left colum, correct?
I thought the er 6/33 meant fake, not the real deal
nope, bichon
Checking in for the first time today. A big grid.
i just found a 2nd ov 7/40 strictly by accident
as far as I know er6 means not genuine
Hi Scrabs
Hi Bichon, Marco & Polo
hi all
bichon that is what others were telling me and not genuine i could not for the life of me figure it out. The clue i was given to extend a word was the only way i could figure it out
it literally means substitute or replacemment
hi owl
hi scrab
And Owl has arrived. *hoot*hoot*
scrabbler dictionary say: a substitute for the er6
ty mm
Margarine is er 6 for butter
last ac 7 clue please?
For example, in WWII ersatzbrot was 'replacement bread'
there's more than one ac7? damn
Eating watermelon---> will be peeing all afternoon.

love dining out but my friend made dinner last night.
but we went to the movies and then out to diner for late breakfast afterward.
i love to eat breakfast out somewhere
i do as well. had awestern sandwich, it was yum.
i will take breakfast food anytime
just yesterday i had scrambled eggs and tri colored cous cous
yes. i love bacon and eggs, french toast, blueberry pancakes.
yum
breakfast. it's what's for dinner. :)
or anytime
ok. must get moving to something///grilling pork chops and thinking i should pole holes in them and slather with bbq sauce. or marinate them.
just put salt and pepper on them
too bland for me, fan. i need to flavor meat for me to tolerate it.
their are spices specifically for pork
my friend brought a pressure cooker to show me how fast it cooks. i had never seen one. very handy. food in layers in foil packets and place in side. done in 10 minutes.
thats cool
not my kind of cooking but it is interesting to explore other things.
my husband made a mela in a crock pot once
my sil does all the time. she is a teacher but insists the family sits down for a meal most every night
i love that old fashioned way about her
a lot of people still want that for their families
i grew up that way and i think it is so important.
nice chatting with you, but i have to go. happy babbling, fan.
i did too until my brothers got in their teens and had school activities and sports to do instead
you too bye owl
*****FIREWORKS*****
earnest
oops, sorry
HI all. There is an se5/10 I have entered multiple times. Babbles says I have already entered it but it's not in my list. Anyone else?
refresh Sam
that will bring it up
Thanks! That was refreshing!
cute dog in the icon.. I like bassets
silly dogs
Yes, they are. I grew up with a basset/boxer mix who did all sorts of silly tricks, and talked, even knew how to whisper on command.
I had a dog that did that too
I taught him how to smile too
I had a lab/golden mix who would smile sheepishly if you told her she was pretty.
ha
I'm going to adopt a lab next year sometime
good afternoon, everyone :)
afternoon nan et al
hey doren.. your kids back now?
any minute now. i'm sitting out back with Milo waiting for the car to pull up. They cleared customs an hour and a half ago. I've made minted snow peas, moroccan carrot salad, potato salad, honey mustard pork chops in the oven
send the address.. I'm on my way
friends of mine stopped by a little while ago, and got Milo really revved up. He was running and jumping… an absolute beauty to watch
where are your kids coming in from, dorens?
zurich, nan. My son was teaching there for the month of June, and his wife took the kids over two weeks ago.
wow -- are they home for good, or just for a visit?
i'm at their house in Baltimore, and they're home for good. He does this every year it seems, last year Oslo, the year before Copenhagen, the year before Paris. these kids have some amazing passports!
what a wonderful way to see the world, though! What subject does your son teach?
He teaches pharmaceutical stuff at johns Hopkins Med Schoo, is involved in international consortiums on the subject
He sound like a very brilliant guy
he is… i know he'd be a professor back when he was in fourth grade. (he didn't though) when he said he wanted to go to med school at first my thought was, "No, you're supposed to be a professor" But I kept quiet and half way through med school he came up with his plan to go for the PHD as well
you must be excited to see them again -- how old are the grandkids?
they'll be five and eight this week. and yes, it's been longer than usual and i'm dying to see them.
enjoy your visit -- I'm sure you'll have a great time :-)
yup. i'm watching them the next three days while their parents get back to work. I'm sure it will be a blast.
I've had my g'daughter for one week and will have her again this week. She's learning how to swim
I remember you saying she was coming -- Savannah, isn't it? How are the lessons coming?
Really well. She has lost her fear of having her head under water and jumping into the pool
fortunately mine have been through lots of swimming lessons, cause I think we'll be spending a lot of time at the community pool and it would be much harder if they weren't strong swimmers. not sure about the 5 year old but they say he's come a long way.
That's great. I always took a huge rock with me when I taught swimming. Let the kids hold it both out of and in the water. When they saw how much less the rock seemed to weigh in the water, I'd tell them that's why it was easier for them to float if they kept their heads back.
She's having lessons at the town pool. There's only two kids to an instructor
smart
how old is she bichon?
she'll be 7 on Halloween. Her mother [my daughter] had her wearing a life vest for the last two years. She's never found the time to take her for lessons
This year I put my foot down
Our 14 yr. old grandaughter is coming to visit on the 19th. She is taking part in a 2 week musical theatre workshop while she is here. They will be putting on a performance of Hairspray at the end of the workshop.
my daughter in law was a water polo player in high school, always big on water sports and the kids have both been in lessons at the Y during the winter since they could barely walk
I'm hoping to send her to the Y Day Camp next year.
that sounds like fun nan; does she live near you?
two weeks with her sounds lovely. A 14 year old who wants to spend time with her grandmother is rare these days. Congratulations
no -- she lives in southern Alberta -- a 10 hour drive from here.
so your visits aren't frequent, I see you make the most of them!
no -- we only see our Albertan grandchildren 2 or 3 times per year as we don't like driving the mountain roads in the winter and most of them are out of school and have more interesting things to do with their holidays than visiting "old folks".
but I'm not kidding myself -- I think the draw is the musical theatre camp, not us!
3rd ce 6, please?
I see mine once a month, because I drive down here to see them one weekend a month, come hell or high water. Wish I could get them to visit me, but their parents don't seem to want to drive up to NJ. so here I am i'm sure it's a combination of the two… she wouldn't go to a musical theater anywhere else would she?
ce + ****cs are people who can endure a lot of pain
not if I'm paying for it! - lol
Grandmothers are so good to and for the kids!
can't think of the pain enduring people
- oh - nm - got it
Odd, I have never thought of stoics as people who endure pain
We usually see Savannah once a month, but this time we're seeing her for two weeks. In July we are taking her an our Calafornia granddaughter for a granparent trip at the Sierra Club Lodge
I'm sure all of you will have a great time bich - and what a wonderful way for the cousins to get to know each other better.
se 7/32, please?
stoic. one who is indifferent to pleasure and pain (per my scrabble dictionary)
I am back to find more words.
to pleasure or pain that should have read
Thanks Peri, I read the definition. Indifferent to pain is different (to me) than being able to endure a lot of pain. It's semantics I guess.
thought it meant to be emotionless as pertaining to a lot of feelings or sensations
25 V words? and 33 words, at least there are no k or b words
33 C words
I only have 9 V words
se 7/32, please?
don't have it nan
I am ne5,16 going to finish this puzzle.
se4/4 above the se7/32 + italian hello minus "a"
hello, all :-)
hi Une
In the spiritual connotation, a stoic is someone who is at peace. Their spirit is not engaged in the highs and lows of the exterior world. Not emotionless, just not moved by emotional hubbub. Again, it is a semantics, perception thing.
ty une
ty Molly

senecio
Yes
duh - ty jaxx - miss that one more often than not
ty jaxx, I needed that one
I arrive and free words come with me!
Peri, it never ceases to amaze me how people will say one thing and then do another. It reminds me of some old wisdom, "pay attention to what people do, not what they say"
that te6 is a neat word
Indeed. Actions speak louder than words!!
lol, jaxx
It is somewhat like a shrew
need another break, bbs to finish
just finished monkeying the missing ve's -- guess dickey isn't good enough for some people.
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help :-)
congrats, nan!!!
ty une
bye everyone - back at the flip :-)
way to go, nan
later, nan :-)
Hi there -- had to come back to share...anyone who has ever spent time in a "walled city" will love it: "RETARDED" GRANDPARENTS Written by a third grader, on what his grandparents do. After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their holiday away from school. One child wrote the following: We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa. They used to live in a big brick house, but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Arizona . Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like grass. They ride around on their bicycles, and wear name tags, because they don't know who they are anymore. They go to a building called a wreck center, but they must have got it fixed because it is all okay now, they do exercises there, but they don't do them very well. There is a swimming pool too, but they all jump up and down in it with hats on. At their gate, there is a doll house with a little old man sitting in it. He watches all day so nobody can escape. Sometimes they sneak out, and go cruising in their golf carts. Nobody there cooks, they just eat out. And, they eat the same thing every night - early birds. Some of the people can't get out past the man in the doll house. The ones who do get out, bring food back to the wrecked center for pot luck. My Grandma says that Grandpa worked all his life to earn his retardment and, says I should work hard so I can be retarded someday too. When I earn my retardment, I want to be the man in the doll house. Then I will let people out, so they can visit their grandchildren. PRICELESS
cute, nan...
I can find no more words so I am off to read. all take care

ruru is Jack Bauer
who's he?
Bich, are you liking 24: Live Another Day?
No, it's formulaic. They should have just reran the first two seasons
Oh too bad, I'm really liking it. Jack Bauer is the biggest badass ever to hit television. I'll take him in any form I get him.
*waves to Doc*
<---I'm no badass bichon
I always find it interesting how people use that "formula" thing to refer to other renditions of a series. What else are writers supposed to do when they are bringing back a well loved character and series?
And there would be no point in re-running Seasons 1 and 2. They are already available on several web streaming sites so they would not go over on network TV.
*brings out soapbox*
Sorry, I will shut up now.
lol
I don't even know who Jack Bauer is.. I know who Eddie Bauer is
I didn't mean to kill the chat
*sings lowly .. swing low.. sweet chariot.. a comin' a to take a me home.. "

We all are so sorry and you are being sent all sorts of hugs, positive thoughts and prayers!

Seems so little, wish we could do more!

Gotta keep those distractions going!
indeed. We also have tickets to a local baseball game on Tuesday (after we see the oncologist). Going to be an interesting day.
To say the least! You will be top of my list and prayers on Tuesday!
Our minister is coming with us (to the doctor, not the ball game) so that will be good.
Glad for that...just keep in mind all the dozens of babblers who will be there with you in spirit!

Driving rescue dog, it took me 3 hours to go 60 miles . . . HOWEVER today I drove another dog the same distance but took old Hwy 31W and cut it down to 1.5 hrs . . . whew . . . and kinda nice to be off the interstate and seeing grass and trees and fields and horses :-)
