rain rai, go away! 5 days now and two very stinky dogs live here
hello ruby
{{sprite}} who won last night? I fell asleep during the overtime, was too tired from all that pedaling!
Lars Boom is a great name for a rider!
haven't watched, lol
or maybe Lars Whoosh!
It was a great game, but the extra time (2 X 15 minutes) kill me.
ok looked it up, we lost after penalties
I'm surprised but as they say in the newspaper, Holland has the best team that has never won the World Cup.
roflol
The announcers were really admiring of Boom when he led the race and took the stage in the rain and mud. They looked like emerging coal miners by the end of the race. And Froome abandoned
well I can't say I am sorry. At least now there will be peace again here.
More crashes than I've ever seen in one day
good to know you are enjoying yourself, ruby
It is eally my favorite thing; takes my mind off all the rest....

Hello, Crossy :-)
First clue should be no green box for a correct word. Second clue would be no words accumulating in the word list.
it happens
Thankfully I had all those words already.
help with an 8 or 9 pls
Another biggie
yes, zooz. they were small ones and not a deal breaker
I have no 8 or 9s myself, Peri, Must admit finding it hard to find the larger words today.
fi 8/9 type of gun
ty lady
Damn I know nothing about guns.
I know a fair bit about them but still searching
fi 4/7 +?
Compound words Zoom. Starts with flame ends with what bolts your door shut
compound word, flames and what you do to keep things safe. you **** them up
MOlls has a better clue
I didn't know it was a gun either.
Ahh thank you, Bichon, Molly And Peri!
Oh And lady of course!
mm never heard it referred to that way before. we always call them flintlocks but we learn something new everyday
By the way Zoom, nice flush job. : D
;-)
Morning, everyone!
hi Mimi
Hello, Mimi :-)
((mimi))
Hi bichon
((crossy))
Hi, there zooz! Haven't "spoken" to you for awhile! h
How are you?
I am well thanks for asking, Mimi! Hope you are doing well also?
the other 9 is mo - plural of to ridicule, bad clue I know
does it come from the mo 4/10?
I'm good, zooz...just still waiting for rain. It's our monsoon season but we've only had very scattered rain here in the Valley, though up north near the Grand Canyon they've had quite a lot.
Hmm managed to get 4,6 & 7 but not a 9.Will have to look at the ending. Thanks, Lady.
yes
the root word ends in the sometime vowel
ty lady
wish you were here, mimi. going to be a high of 19c today and a gentle breeze is blowing off the bay. A nice little hike planned for later and crossy's home-made beef stew is in da slow cooker and a home made loaf of crusty bead is in the bread box for afterwards;)
I hope you get rain soon then, Mimi. I can send you some of ours if you like.
Thank you, Lady!
ty for the mo 6,7 and 9
....sighing heavily, crossy. I am making a whole chicken in my slow cooker today with fresh brussels sprouts underneath it to absorb the juices and having a bit of herb stuffing.
i probably dont have the right mo 4/5
mmm, sounds tasty
Sounds lovely, Crossy. The smell of freshly baked bread.Yum yum.
I wish someone could send us rain, zooz. We haven't had any real rain for over 4 months.
Annie, I will not mo4 you for that
MO 4/10 Annnie.
Oops.I meant, Annie :-)
it is my weakness, zooz
thanks have the root now
got the mo 9, thanks Molly and zooz
My bread maker is the one appliance I love the most.
and thanks Ladycece
They're finally opening a Panera bakery/deli just a couple of blocks from me in a couple of months. Yum. My favorite bread shop, though, is a two-bus ride from here so won't be doing that until it gets cooler.
Panera makes great bread. And the nice thing is, it's fresh every day.
Hi, Molly! Their commercials make me drool...everything looks so good. The other shop makes the best sourdough I've ever had.
Everything left over at the end of the day, goes to food banks. I like a business that gives back to the community.
gm, everyone!
hi dawg
Hi, dawg!
Thanks for doing that, Molly.I know some people who rely on food banks to get by.And they are very greatful for people being kind.
Hello, Dawg :-)
ceil
oh crap, sorry
I used to work for a place that made food for us to take around in baskets and sell to businesses. They donated all their food at the end of the day to St. Vincent de Paul's kitchen. I really like that idea, too, Molly. I hate waste.
hi annie, mimi and zooz
I'm grateful there are businesses that think beyond their own greed.
I get my CoQ10 supplement from a place that donates to veterans' organizations. Pay a little more for them there but like the feeling I'm helping in some way.
Geez I can not spell today. I put greatful instead of grateful. Tsk tsk
It's only 5 am here, zooz...I'm surprised I can type at all!
coQ10?? will have to google that to see what it is..lol
It's also called ubiquinol.
Coenzyme.Also known as ubiquinone
Wow you are up early, Mimi!
morning all :-)
Hi, Wolvie!
Hello, Wolvie :-)
It is 1:16 in the afternoon here, Mimi.
hi wolvie
It is an enzyme that helps with heart health but also is needed by basically every organ in the body. We make less of it as we age so supplementation is a good thing. I could tell a big difference after taking it for just a week...my energy level really picked up.
It's also good for your brain and they're now believing it helps ward off Alzheimer's. It does aid in concentration capability.
Sounds like I could do with some.
Can you not get it through healthy eating?
I've really been getting into natural remedies and supplements because I don't like the prescription meds they wanted me to take for my heart after the heart attack. I'm now off all prescription meds except for one. Feel much better.
Glad you are on the road to recovery, ((Mimi)), Must of been such an ordeal to go through.
Name that Proper Noun: French comedic playwright
good to hear that mimi :-)
Moliere
Molière
Damn I am always to late.
I did have to google it though..lol
:)
Yay! You win a Bourgeois Gentleman!
At this point with the reading I have done, I think we can all use the CoQ10 supplement. I'm not sure about getting it through food, zooz, but I suspect there wouldn't be enough available that way. Also, my cardiologist is glad I'm taking it.
Yes, it was an ordeal, zooz. But I just won my two-year battle with Social Security and will be getting my settlement money soon...yay!
If anyone is going through chemotherapy, btw, CoQ10 helps with side effects.
wish i had been told about coQ10 at the time:(
Good for you, Mimi, Shame you had to fight for it in the first place. But glad you will be getting it.
morning crossy godthaab lbd and annie :-)
CoQ10 is naturally present in small amounts in a wide variety of foods, but levels are particularly high in organ meats such as heart, liver, and kidney, as well as beef, soy oil, sardines, mackerel, and peanuts.
Good morning!
I know, crossy. How did your doctor visit go?
howdy wolvie
morning, godt
Interesting conversation, was looking up info. Thanks Mimi. Hello all
hi lynxx
good morning, wolvie
Hello and thanks, lynxxx....good info.
Thanks for that, Lynxxx, And hello :-)
hi lynxxx
I also take supplemental magnesium which helps with muscle issues including leg cramps.
Don't mind the fish side of thing but not keen on offal. Yuck.
went very well mimi. all is well and they are kicking me out of the oncology section of the hospital and i only have to return once a year for maintenance appt.:)
good news
I've actually hand-picked several supplements for different reasons including a "green drink."
HOORAY, CROSSY!!! So happy to hear that!
green tea is full of good flavenoids and other good stuff:)
What like green tea?
No...it's a powder that has kelp, seaweed, and the like. I do drink jasmine green tea as iced tea every single day, all day, though.
Talking of tea. Time for to make another cup.
I find green tea an acquired taste, bitter at first as it is usually taken as-is with no mile and very little or no sugar at all
What does that taste like, Mimi, It does not sound very drinkable.
read back and put my glasses on to see "green drink" and not green tea
I found one on Amazon that's quite pleasant, crossy. However, I combine mine with regular orange pekoe for the iced tea and sugar.
I take it you drink the green drink on its own and not with a meal..lol
I haven't actually tried the green drink yet but will be doing so in the next couple of days. The flavor is supposed to be awful unless you mix it into something strong. I'm planning to put mine into Spicy V8. Hope that helps make it palatable.
hello
Hi, ML!
Yes that might be a good idea, Mimi, LOL
morning mlf
Hello, Mlf :-)
morning wolvie
hello zooz
Since I drink the green tea as iced tea, I basically drink it both alone and with food.
How is the grid this time?
The doc I transcribe is going on vacation for ten days as of tomorrow, so I'll have a week off work. Wow--do I lots of projects to attend to! Hope to get at least half of them done!
So far the grid has been fun for me, ML.
get that book finished, mimi:))
About average so far, Mlf, Although I have been finding it difficult with the longer words today. Have needed a bit of help with those.
That's at the top of the list, crossy!
that is unusual for you zooz
hi mlf and crossy
seems a bit slow going for me at the moment
When you are ready to put your book out there, let me know via email. I can help a bit
howdy LBD
hi ibd
I do spend a lot of time doing babble, Mlf, I can be here for many hours just not chatting most of it. I know that seems hard to believe..lol
I'm sure I'll be sending more excerpts for your suggestions, crossy.
lol- my collie is lightly snoring. too cute
phantom: compost
I purchased, Anglesong's, Book about being frugal a while back. Will be interested in having a look at yours when it is finished, Mimi!
Awww....how adorable, Wolvie.
Bless it, Wolvie :-)
zoo i sometimes forget to shut the screen off when i get up from the computer- terrible habit- makes it seem like ihave been here all day :-)
my collie is a good girl- getting a bit long in the tooth like her owner lol
half the time this machine is running from dawn to dusk even though i may be on and off all day long
LOL, Wolvie
It's a daunting task, zooz. Decided to write everything (good, bad and ugly) so it can be uncomfortable. But it's also a bit cathartic. Wrote a section the other day through massive tears.
I tend to pop in and out all day and a lot of the night too.
Third column E?
yes- that is me as well- 10 minutes here, there, and everywhere lol
never mind
Well as hard as it is for you to write the hard times. That is what can give the book its soul, Mimi!
When I finally find my mountain house, I'll be getting another German Shepherd. I miss mine every day even though she has been gone 8 years.
ee6/18 ---more slimier
how about the 5 th column E instead Annie i found the other one?
Aloy was valuable in showing me how I could use it as a vehicle for teaching about overcoming adversity and that really appealed to me as I've always wanted to teach.
en +**d Lang Syne
But it's also going to be really funny (I hope) and there will be lots of fun/interesting/weird stories....I have had that kind of life.

Hahaha thanks for the SU8/70 and SC 7 of course, Wolvie!

Wolvie is it not the SC 8/70 you clued?
of any kind lol
are the two sc 8 words similar?
Only the first three letters, Mlf.
no- sc 8/70 first part sounds like skull (only 1 l) then one who does the sc, then plural of those
tx zooz -- am used to that word spelled with 2 k's
got the sc 5/7/8
Wolvie, do you have the LU8
no- missed that
LU 8 plural of archangel, identified with Satan.
ahhh- ty muchly zoo
tx zooz!!
ty zooz
mm, i have the sc 8/75 but cannot see the 70
do you have the sc 5/22 crossy?
usually spelled "sk" not sc, crossy
You are all more than welcome.. I need to get myself out into the sunshine whilst it lasts. Happy babbling everyone.
cross add a cons after the first letter being an s in the su 4/9 below it
bye zooz
later, zooZ!
ttfn zoo!
aah so it is a 5/22 i seem to be working from the wrong base word
i found a tu 4 6 7
yes- much better than my clue une lol
i am off as well- back in a bit
tu 5/6/7 x 2
sorry -- 4/6/7 not 5/6/7
later, wolvie :-)
i found tu 4 6 7 5
bye wolvie
yep
now i am totally lost, will break for a few and hunt for a sc 5/22 in a bit

hello all....can someone give me STATS for the 9s please?
mo9,. plural
Fi 8/9, Mo9.
ty!
does anyone have ce7?

nope
Not yet.
Plural of the ce6/21.
clue please for the 6 judi?
One who installs overhead drywall.
That's a crap clue, but I hope you get my drift.
i got it...ty
thanks, Judi, i got it
judi it was perfect!
bbs
I have never heard anyone referred to as a ce6, by the way.
i havent either but add an ing to it and it is related to dry wall as well
anyone have ce 6/24?
PHANTOM policies
sigh.. this is not my day for babbling, it seems
why cross?
I head the sonic boom from that ce 7 clue as it passed me by:)
Ce5/6: Sounds like Yiddish greeting.
lol cross
lol, need someone yiddish now!
judi for the ce 6/24?
Could be worse. Could be gaelic.
may as well be sanskrit
or chinese or greek
what about a yiddish drywaller? lol
what kind of yiddish greeting?
have not a clue
i even forget what i was looking for now.. oh yes, a ce7
cross i ased for ce 6/24
may have to google yiddish roofers:)
Actually, it can be a greeting or a goodbye. Kind of like "aloha". Only it's YIDDISH!!! Bwa ha ha ha!
and i asked for ce7
you are evil, judi:)
ce 5/14----starts with greenish veggie ce* and ends with last 2 letters of HEBREW greeting for hello
i dont get it its not even close to the yiddish hello
There is no greeting for Hello in Yiddish
all this and $1.50 will get me a cup of coffee atm;)
ty annie got both
then plural ce 5/14 for the 6
well, $2.00 tim Hortons is expensive
Yiddish, btw, happens to be a very colorful language, the word schmuck co4s to mind
"sounds like", MLF.
I love Yiddish. *Puts the evil eye on Judi for her Gaelic comment*
still need the yiddish drywaller:) may have to save that word for later:)
Shalom! (You schmucks!)
The drywaller isn't Yiddish.
ahh then what is he?
CL 6/24?
Time for the meds cart
or she:)
lol judi
enjoy, molly
personally, I am quite comfortable with my own brand of insanity
whatever turns you on
yup
just got a co 6/7
Ce6/27 & Ce7/32 is the overhead drywaller. CE5/14 & Ce6/24 sounds like the Yiddish hello.
ahh ty, judi
An oyveyhead drywaller would be Yiddish, obviously.
but of course:)
CL 6/24 clue please?
hello?
Don't have that one yet, MLF>
thanks judi.. its hiding:)
cl6 ends in the last three letters of the capital of Italy
ty molly
i will be back soon i am going to eat now
Shalom!
Hi all, back for a few minutes
Hi, Sukee!
Hi Judi
Your clues below were very helpful
Thank you, Sukee. Nice to know someone appreciates my crappy clues.
:)
and now it is time for crossy's tidbit of the day!! Interesting article about george R.R. Martin giving his fans "the bird" http://tinyurl.com/ozs4ke6
clarifying the previous clues was very helpful, judi, tyvm
sukee*
I ♥ crappy clues
all clues are handy one way or another
Every clue is sacred
I don't blam him
lol, now i have Monty Python stuck in my head
Well I hope you are not going to blam him here, in front of everyone
lol. Confusion not withstanding.
Martin? no I do not bame him either. Stephen kings used to get death threats over him finishing his Darktower series lol
Glad none of us can type blame today :)
we can read type, not need to have every utterance dissected for correctness;0
typo
So glad there are no grammar nazis on here :)
yup
Oh, but it's okay to make jokes about typos, right?
though i was taken to task by one for using that term
lol
Singing...."you put a spell on me..."
lol
Yes, some get offended. Those who use it are not seriously comparing anyone to real Nazi's.
People get offended way too easily
well, they do not get that we do not intent to gass 2 milling people who cannot type i suppose
Amen to that.
lol, and my keyboard is fighting me
Amen to what Sukee said about the easily offended.
i do not need to type well; that is what editors are for:)
Dang, Crossy! Gassing would be extreme. A simple crack on the knuckles with a ruler or a pencil in the eye would be sufficient.
ouch! lead in the eye! how cruel!
I used to go crazy with bad grammar and spelling on Facebook but I can now ignore it, and make fun of those who make a big deal about it :)
yes, relaxing with it all is preferrable
Oh you would have to ignore it on Facebook, it's rampant there.
I just ignore facebook
That is why I had to let it go.
We all think faster than we can type. Which often leads to fumble fingers and humorous, mangled sentences.
Somedays I wish I could, I keep telling myself do not read the comments, do not argue, but I do.
I cannot wait till my first excerpt hits the Harper/ Collins site, the coomets will be such that my wife will more than likely have to tie me to my chair
comments
We will all go over there and give you glowing comments to override any bad :)
lol, aww ty, sukee
Yes. Let us know when it appears, Crossy.
I am hoping for sometime next week, Judi
Ok, have to get off. Groceries are almost here.
oile ic
Annie is speaking in tongues : D
So close, Annie.
happens a lot in here:)
and from back of beyond
yes, judi, finally saw it
I create my vary own language several times a day:)

co + most of a tiny rodent
ty river
thanks River, never would have seen that
me either
morewords helped with that one
Finally finished the C words thanks for the help
Annie, it is some obscure word that means hairy. Like we all know that.
Firetwerps!
Congrats judi
Can i get a clue for the fi8/9 please?
Molly, was away from keyboard, had that word, I use it everyday
congrats, Judi!!!
fi 8 = Roast marshmallows over this + you **** your doors at night
fan fi8----compound word for gun
fi 9 is the plural
ty megy
megsy beat me to it, hi megs
yw
now i have nbs
Hi Annie
fi 5/16 THE 2ND one please?
Mornin folks and a great day it is. Humidity gone
pl of fi 4/7
hi bicon
bichon
hi bichon
hi
I only have the fi8 help with others pls. also only fi9 help with other 9 pls
have that oen
one
Some one who FI4/7
mo 9 peri
ty will
back from ex. class. different instructor, tough class but I did it!
megsy is that a 4 or a 5?
is the mo9 a compound?
no peri
no peri it is the pl of to make a mo of
sorry Fi5/16 is someone who Fi**s
Peri is the exercise Queen : D
I do not see the mo9
Molly, Audrey is in deep trouble, will jack save her. Her husband has to die
it must be something else then i have that as well
I now have mu7/36!!
you said the second fi5/16 right ML?
Of course Jack will save her, he's Jack Bauer. And yes, her husband has to die. So does Cheng.
Or the third?
help with the mo9 pls
fi 5/20?
mo9, to make a joke of someone or something (pl)
oh that one ....
Since there are no plans for more "24" I guess Chang will finally die
That one is a plant
mi9 offshoot of mo6, 36
Bich, I would love some closure on this story if there will be no more 24. Jack needs a happy ending.
don't have the mo6/36
Won't ever happen. He is the ultimate "tragic prince"
Peri, you make fun of someone, you mo4 them. One who does is the 6, make that a plural for the 9
ty Molls, took me a while
ML Fi + ***s or swear words
ty megsy
yw
need a break
bbl
Oh, I hope you are wrong Bich. Jack has been screwed by everyone and everything he ever stood for and defended. I would like to see him happy in the end.
Where's his daughter Kim and his grandchild. I thought she's show up
I have not seen Elisha Cuthbert listed as being in this series. There was talk of that, but so far, I have not seen anything to confirm it. That little girl who played his granddaughter in the last season was adorable.
Too bad, it gave Jack another dimension
i am not asking for any clues but are the ic words that hard to find.. the 5 or the 6?
never mind i found them
I love how Audrey, who was once so repulsed by Jack's ability to torture criminals, was like "kill him Jack" when she found out Cheng was alive. A year of Chinese torture will do that to a person.
I never understood why the Chinese did that to her. There wasn't any reason for it.
The Chinese didn't, Cheng did. And he did it because he hates Jack.
Mo 7/36 clue please?
Well there's a reason
Hello all
hi car
Hi car
Hi Car, how is the camper doing?
So much better!!!!!
Oh, I must have missed something. I didn't know he was doing poorly at first.
sooooo homesick
mo 7 is more like a small rodent
Sleep away camp is hard for a lot of kids.
I remember being homesick at camp. I wrote a letter to my Mom asking her to come and get me. But, I never mailed it
bichon as in mickey?
It was horrible for me...but I didn't tell him that. I wanted him to make his own decision.
Mo 7 x 3 right?
yes, as in Mickey
when I was at sleepaway camp at age 10 in TX, i wasn't homesick at all . . . of course, it wasn't at all rustic . . . my favorites were archery and glee club! LOL
Sounds wonderful!
have it sorry thought it was one i was missing gotta keep working on the M words lol
I love the swimming, singing songs and arts and crafts
never went to sleep a way camp but do not think I would have liked it.
i was there for a 6-week session :-)
By the end of the week or two I loved it, but those first few nights were awful.
I was a counselor at one when I was in college and I hated it then. Had to go home once!.
but I came back
I only went for 3 weeks, but wished I could stay longer
as a child, my mom went there and was Ideal Girl -- rowed stern on the War Canoe . . . jeez LOL
she apparently wept copiously when she turned 16 and was too old to go back another year :-)
couldn't she have been a counselor?
I have heard horror stories about sleep away camps. I never sent my kids and they never expressed any desire to go.
She should have bought the camp and run it for life!
my older grand is a CIT and loves camp, my younger one went and never went again
car, she would have loved it! LOL
My eldest grand went for 3 days to Y Camp, that's all she'll go for
the comparative of the su4/10 is a word! but alas not accepted
my mom very generously paid for my daughter to go to sleepaway camp here in TN -- was soooo good for her . . . she was having lots of probs with friendships and socializing in general
Well that su4s
It does accept it peri
ok ty but not with the I in it
And that is not a comparative, so you were right Peri.
ty car lol
:)
I only have one I word
2nd lu 5/14 clue please?
... but su7 isn't a word but don't su4 because the other su7 is
peri some of them took me a while to figure out
dose are you sure about that?
And now we will chat in gridspeak
need a break, bbs
... in fact don't be an su7 because then you'll be su7 more than me before I found the two of them ... ... look at it the other way
I have to go grocery shopping.
LOL
but one is a person who does the other are people that do
but should be extended like the end of su 7/48
... i got a 7/52 going one way ... and two 7/48s going the other
Yes it does peri
yes dose
bichon?
I need lunch
does anybody lave the lu 5/14 the 2nd one?

A Google search "lil abner mammy" explains my clue for those who do not know the comic strip
what's that first oi6?
Grease + what you put tea in
ah! ty :)
Mechanic word? I don't know, never heard it before.
I might have one on the side of my stove to store old frying pan offal before throwing it in the garbage
Ah, that would end in jar in my house : )
holy cow I'm missing lots of re's
or put it in the frige until it's solid
nemo
That is what I do, Ruby. Pour it in the jar, let it cool and then toss it once it's solid. The trash is less gross that way.
my maiden name is in here, li4/7
Bubba found Nemo
half and nbt but no 8's or 9s
Really Ruby? That's kind of Viking of you. : D
and then there's the lu6 proletariat
Actually, I have red hair and horns
hah! conquered the Rs
help with 8's pls. I only have fi8
and what's that then?
sc8
(compound word)
i have sc8 from seeing clues in the chat before which is a word you usually see as sk instead - someone who kinda sneaks around
*sigh* compound words are hard for me to find, looking
another sc8
the sc8 i have isn't compound
and lu8 is a plural
the sc8 means resembling stuff that floats on a pond
ty jj
but what is that fi that periwinkle mentions
that's also compound, using the same suffix as sc8
oops no - different suffix
sorry :)
i was going to say that did not seem possible
fi is a compound word, type of gun
not getting either sc8
i'm not geting the lu
ty peri and that gave me the 9

yw ruby
sc4 of the earth + **** sands throught the hourglass
that is the one I got Harry
oh hey look it does give a 9
what is the other 9 then
good morning/afternoon everyone -- back for another go at this - 148 left
mo9
Oh my, Harry watches Days Of Our Lives
no - bill and ted's excellent adventure :)
socrates says' it
for the mo 9 , just keep adding letters to the first two mo words
all we are....is dust in the wind....dude...
Most excellent
not getting that fi 8 - don't know anything about guns
flame + what bolts your door
to start a fire with no matches you can try fl--- and steel, that will give u the first part of the word
got both sc8 ty
ty molly - would never have thought to put those together
help with lu8 pls
DONE!
another name for the devil
lol, or u can ignore my fantasy word, just had a senior moment
peri - could it be....SATAN???
ty Harry and nan
pl. for the lu 9
got that too ty
bbl
bye all :)
Enable is so fickle. It won't accept Satan, but it will accept that lu word.
are the first two mo words the ones about making fun?
those are the first two that I have -- first five, actually
oh i was just checking because it said add letters for the 9 and i didn't want to waste my time on the wrong words
hello
doesn't copout make as much sense as any other word in this stupid dictionary?

Teehee I am not that bad, Ivesy" well not yet.
Correct, Mlf like colour.

No, Mlf , One is a plural and is not.
And one is not*
i knew what you meant zooz

same first 3 letters?
One is a plural of a person who can arrest you.
The other is an extention of the PO 4/10
i needed the extesnion of the po 4/10 thank you have both now
re 6-7 following puts in folders again?
ty cyber
RE make movies?
I can't get the extra letter thing. It's colour, but not actour. You use s in rase, but not in haze, and I can't even get into tyre and tire. : P
or what the movies are stored on.
ty zoom
if by rase you mean burn to the ground we also use raze
"We"...you are Canadian Nan???
Molly, I can assure you I also have struggled and continue to struggle with many words like these. But alas that is how the language is :-(
Canadians use British spelling
Why?
Our school dictionaries are (or were) Oxford's
Because it makes more sense *Ducks for cover* :-)
lol, zoom
I was born in Oxford, Nan :-)
Because we are more closely associated with Britain than the US and we (ducking here) consider the American spellings to be bastardized english
lovely spot, zoom - enjoyed our visit there and our guide for the university was excellent
It is steeped in a lot of history, Nan, But moved as many people there are not nice. Began to get very rough to the point where you best not look at someone in the eye to say hello, otherwise they would say who you staring at..Sad.
stuck on those last few re's
Loved walking around the universities when they were open for visitors.
I guess, as tourists, we didn't come aross that
No I very much doubt you would as it is was the housing areas where people live not the main shopping or university areas.
Wow, Canadians have a rich history all of their own. It's too bad that they still have to nod to British rule.
RE + to look for something?
Oi 6/27?
Or another word to look for something.
thought the carvings in the dining hall and the stories of Alice characters as being references to real people were interesting
OI 6/27 compound word. Car grease + drink vessel.
ty zooz
yw.
what makes you think we nod to British rule, Molly? -- we are a constitutional monarchy -- not subject to British rule
The British paliament has absolutely no say in our government -- the queen just rubber stamps our laws, the same as she does for the British Parliament. The difference being that our PM doesn't have to have a weekly conference with her.
OL 5?
ol + scrambled word for frozen water :-)
OOh nice clue, Une, I always miss that word!
got it ty une
:-D
back to the re's -- clues for the last two 6-7's please?

Agreed, Nan lol
I was larking around.

Fire
oh good grief. what an entrance.
LOL
Hello, Car :-)
lol car - it has been rather hot around here
hi car :D
EN6?
I know I have my settings for this computer for the UK typing. And it still tells me I am spelling it wrong when I type things like colour and favourite.
hi car
en+vowel+facial twitch
EN + ends with the word for people who have a problem with drinking.
Zoom, you couldn't offend me if you tried. : D
Or what, Bookwomen, Clued..lol
((Molly)

Oh dear! Need me to call for help?
Hey, car, my boss' mother has only gotten 6 reports past me since we last talked...I've been watching like a hawk and grabbing them up!
Yeah...I mean I doubt I'll live to be 120!!
Make sure to slip her some now and then or she may get cranky....but take as much as you can!
Well, as the Boy Scouts say, DO YOUR BEST! Have fun!
hmmm, this grid is nasty.
I had to take as much as possible this week since my doc is on vacation for 10 days as of tomorrow while she has two other docs she can transcribe during that time and also has those same two all the rest of the time. As it is, I'll miss a whole week's pay.
So glad the nickname for elephants was accepted here!
later, all
Name the "ethnic" actor who played Fiddler on the Roof.
nickname for elephants?
Think about their "teeth", peri.
...and pleural it.
No takers on the actor?
Topol
got them, never know it was a nickname for elephants
I cannot remember the name of the actor
Male elephants
Dingity, jax!
Topol
I do not like C words
Iremember 'if I were a rich man'
Too late for me
I saw the show in NYC many years ago. He was not in it
at least I don't think so
Thought maybe it was too long ago for everyone.
That's OK, Molly...A for effort!
Just dinosaurs like me. lol
Many actors have played the part, peri. You probably saw Herschel Bernardi.
Me, too, jax.
Topol was in the film
Yep...but I think he also did the play for a time...not sure.
I'm sure he did
Too long ago? No way, this is an OLD group.
It is about due for a revival
I'm due for one, too, jax....need one desperately.
I think I am beyond reviving. lol
When I had the heart attack, these really cute EMT's and firemen came into my apt. to care for me...that's revive you..at least temporarily!!
that'll
A bit drastic!
Any port in the storm... ;)
Even so!
Actually, when one EMT was putting EKG leads under my boobs, I looked him in the eye and said "I usually get a kiss before action like this." They really laughed. You've heard the term "funny as a heart attack?" ...rim shot.
Ruru should be here for THAT one!
He'll probably turn up soon. He won't be able to resist.
Yeah...I like that about him!
Ooops! I'm in the PB!
: O
Cheer mimi up Molly. You are the queen of refreshments in the PB
Back to work....monkeys broke me out of the PB. Hugs all around.
Why does Mimi need cheering up?
Just for being in the PB, I think, Molly. Cocktail to go?
She put herself in the PB. Her monkeys have now broken her out
Bye, mimi
poink!
I wasn't aware that being in the penalty box was something in need of cheering.
perhaps pampered is a better word
Mimi seems to be living the good life lately, I don't think she needs pampering.
She certainly sounds cheerful enough.
ok, show of hands, how many tried "fickle"?
Wondering why Ru needed to be here.
Not yet but will now - it will become a babble worm
Read Mimi's story of the paramedics
oh no :0
then i probably shouldn't mention popsicle...
I did. Still wondering.
Think she felt Ru would appreciate it in his unique fashion
Because it mentioned boobs?
I should think so. You would have to ask mimi
TO, there aren't two ps so that is a bit different from fickle which appears possible - very possible
it is soooooo close.
A quick update on the Garth Brooks fiasco. The Irish Government have now got involved. They have considered (and rejected) calling on Barrack Obama to intervene.
what?
Hi, soodle!!!!!
How're ya, Jaxx!
Not too bad, and you?
Hilarious
Oh TO, this is embarrassment in the extreme. Google Garth Brooks, Croke Park. Not Ireland's finest hour.
I'm good, Jaxx, thank you. Amd you, m'dear?
I am suffering from an earache (too much listening at keyholes) but otherwise am in fine form
I detoured on the way home from work this evening, to go to the pub. (Strictly of a fact fiinding mission, you understand) to try to guage what the plain people of Ireland fell about the whole debacle. There was much shouting ahd roaring. I exited toot sweet!
Explain why this man can't have shows on five nights, please
If I wanted to hear shouting and roaring, I would have stayed at home...
Oh, of course, you would not stick around and drink with the pub folks. After all, you are the "other lot"
It wouldn't have helped my ear. The parrot screeching is enough for me
equal to one tenth of the population in ticket sales? why?
Population of Ireland approx 4 million. Number of tickets sold for Garth Brooks concert 400,000.
suckier is a word. enable, get with it.
Popular man with the ordinary Irish. Why stop him performing?
Jaxx, some problem with licensing laws..... (Sorry about the ear. Earaches are particularly painful... it's to do with the proximity of the ear to the pain recepticles in the brain, I hear).
the popularity of country music outside the us baffles me. the popularity of country music IN the us baffles me. Were talking slicked up country pop here.
I don't on the left, soodle. HaHa
not roots or alt country
I agree, TO. I have no clue why country music is popular outside the US.
mind you, i am not talking roots. just the slicked up new pop country stuff
The whole Garth Brooks thing is a mystery to me. But.... 400.000 hard pressed Irish people paid approx $100 per ticket. You gotta hand it to the man.
as folks get older , they seem to eiteher go all bashville or smooth jazz.
nashville.
Country music is indigenous to the southern US. I don't get why people in other countries get into it.
I liked bashville better
LOL TO. I prefer the sound of Bashville!
i think there are mjore country fans in NYC than in tennesee
Sounds as if the folk in the pubs were into that as well
Strange
well, there is a mystique i suppose. lots of american indigenous mu5 is loved around the world.
I like all kinds of music and am classically trained in voice and I just have to say I think Garth is the best PERFORMER I have ever seen.
party in the pb! break out the cocktail shaker!
Yep...just can't get out of there today!
I like Garth Brooks, but I wouldn't say he is the best performer I have ever seen.
well, mimi, i will give you oen thing the country performers are among the hardest working, if not THE hardest working in the industry. they give their all in conert.
Molly, your chance to ask Mimi that question
Don't need to
That's my opinion. It's all a matter of taste, though.
What question?
Oh?
uh oh, time to see if my gf will accompany me to concert tonight. later, all
In 20/30 years time, people here are going to be asking each other 'Where were YOU when the great Garth Brooks debacle was going on'.
When I'm performing, I do a couple of his songs. I do a real assortment of styles.
I won't i will be pushing up the daisies
Just read it Soodle...seems odd. Obviously, the President will NOT intervene, as he's in my state fundraising at the moment.
It is hardly important in the scheme of things. A diversion.
I'm really surprised by the whole thing. Garth always speak so highly of his concerts in Ireland...he really loves the people and they apparently love him right back. I gotta agree with Garth on this one.
...and...doesn't the country make a LOT of money from these events?
It was a rhetorical question. Why does Ru get brought up when the subject of boobs gets brought up? Does Tor, does Crosshair?
What is going on that needs Irish people's attention to be diverted?
Oh..I get it, Molly. No...I meant the "funny as a heart attack" part.
Help with the lone U please?
Don't have it, Champ.
The last time I used the word rhetorical my mother clipped me around the ear for being rude. It was many decades later that she admitted she didn't know what it meant so thumped me just in case
It'll be a fish, I'm sure...
i have up4 only
That's a sad memory, jax. :(
OH...I get it! ty
I found it funny, mimi. It was my mother to a 't'
GAHHHHH!
Told you!!! Fish!!!
It cured me of using the word rhetorical
But thank you jaxx..for helping the blind! ;)
Those darn D's just aren't good for anything today!
As I have an earache, it is the deaf leading the blind.
Rhetorical is not a rude word.
When I told my (now ex) husband I was going into psychology, he said it was the blind leading the blind....he may have a point.
I had just learned it in English class so I used it. I knew it wasn't rude but mum didn't, hence the clipped ear just in case.
Yep, in those days, it was "when in doubt, smack the kid."
Today you'd get sued...probably by the kid.
My mum didn't hit us very often but my father did. What really got me was he used to slap the back of your head as you walked past him. Sneaky
What character used to do that all the time on TV?
In this country you get threatened with Childline, the child abuse helpline
How right you are Mimi. Most of the victims of clerical sex abuse have reported that they told their parents about the horrors perpetrated on them, and they were given a slap, and told to shut up, because 'holy priests' would never do such stuff.
Don't even get me started on that topic....not a fan of the Catholic church....apologies to the Catholics here...just my point of view for many reasons.
I don't like organized religion in general...done more harm on this planet than pretty much anything else. Serves more to separate people than bring them together, imho.
To digress....what do you all think about that cheerleader broad who's blowing away animals in Africa..including endangered species?
She is a very ugly person.
I was born in the '60's. (OK ok, the very early '60's - 1960 in fact).Priests were revered, respected and honoured in a way that is hard to comprehend in this day and age. They were let away with the most heinous of crimes. I'll stop now.
It is unfortunate that people only associate sexual abuse with the Catholic Church.
I think people abhor abuse in any situation, it's the coverup that really makes us angry.
hello
Hi, ML!
Well, the current pope is trying to change that.
Not here at the moment. celebrities are being jailed for Historical abuse.
I think you are right Sukee. He seems like a decent man.
Abuse should be abhorred. And so should a cover up of abuse. That is not all that the Catholic Church is about.
I just can't abide killing animals with no purpose. I just don't understand killing for "pleasure." And she doesn't even give them a fighting chance...she's blowing them away with an automatic weapon!
hi mimi
You are certainly right, Molly. As I said, I have other reasons for disliking the church.
i have to 5 ending in a double vowel can anyone help with the other to 5 please?
One of my favorite drinks is in the grid...ki4.
I missed the segueway into killing animals
She asked about the cheerleader.
It was only a segueway in my head, Molly...saw a TMZ discussion about it a minute ago.
Welcome to my world, Molls
Facebook did take down all her photographs.
I'm like a mental Mitch Miller..."follow the bouncing ball."
Anybody?
She actually killed a cheetah--they are SO endangered. Does no one enforce the law there? (Talk about a rhetorical question.)
I have no to5s mlf
Don't have it, ML.
Oh Sorry Mlf. Nowhere near.
bummer ty
Speaking of bouncing (read back)...I'm bouncing out again...hugs.
La, la, la...
I need to get myself to bed. I'm tired and cranky, and getting nowhere fast with this grid. I'm bouncing nowhere. It's the most I will be able to do is to drag my ass behind me as I head for the pit. Goodnight all.
g'night soodle!
sleep well. soodle
Lovely image of soodle pulling a donkey up the stairs :)
