Pugcula
LOL--howdy Mr Ru
you finished at the right time ru
How is that flosey?
oh, you done Ru--then congrats
words I type in are correct but not showing in my word list
15 not showing and they are in Lickety
this happened one night of a large grid, one word wouldn't show
did you try refreshig
yes, and send words to babble, typed it in several times
it was doing that to me and I refreshed the page and it stopped
that sucks flosey
lol
but yes, on a large grid, it does
they're entered now, went out and back in
but that other night, it didn't work
perhaps the tantrum is settled
glad you got it fixed
tks, can be frustrating
yes it can be--not good for the blood pressure-lol
I've given up on babble a few times - always come back
weather has been stormy here and there and I think it plays apart in the trouble sometimes
perhaps
we've had great weather here lately
they had all kinds of storms on the radar yesterday and last night, but it missed us but did get it monday
we are in a cool spell right now but thats my kind of weather :)
easier to work when it's cooler
it is and everything else too-lol well maybe not getting into the river
I've never been swimming in the ocean here
I dont even know how to swim-------are you afraid to
no, it isn't that, just don't bother, we had a pool in Ontario - was nice to have a quick swim to cool down at night
I'm not much of a swimmer either
do you have to worry about sharks there
no, have never heard of any here
my brother was playing golf in Florida and there were aligators on the course
thats about as bad
would be enough to keep me off that course
lol, me too
Ive never tried golf but would like to I think
I didn't play enough to be any good, just enjoyed the peacefulness of the course
there are some pretty courses for sure
I dont know about being good at it either but driving the carts looks more fun-lol
yes
lol, used a cart when with my Dad but otherwise, walked
I dont guess they would like someone zooming about on the course-lol
no, that would be frowned upon
LOL---I figured as much
no loud voices either, mustn't interfere with someone's shot
I could see me and my pug with her goggles on having fun
well they wouldnt have to worry on that with me-lol
I have played croquet and I like that
we had that at my grandmother's
but its been awhile since Ive done that too
I always liked volleyball too and softball but dont do any of that stuffanymore
we had to play baseball at school, volleyball and basketball at high school
we did too and I played softball on a team for a factory I worked for as a teen and bowling too but was not good at bowling
ah, good for you, I did enjoy bowling - even had a trophy for high single game
we had a league at work
thats great flosey--do you still play
no, that was before I was married, haven't bowled since
thats too bad--your hubby dont like it
we have carpet bowling at the local hall here, I did enjoy that
no, he didn't
he was athletic though, was a runner at HS and U
was he good at it
yes, has trophies, he played soccer at U
and also on a men's league
Iam getting sleepy so I might try getting in a couple of hours sleep--if Rose comes on please give her my love and you have a good rest and take care, been nice chatting with you-----thats great Flosey
yes I will, sweet sleep pugs
enjoyed pugs
thanks flosey--gn
goodnight
must get to bed, goodnight, if anyone is still here
g'day from me

hi JBV
Annie - I just missed you yesterday - came in at the end of a conversation about swimming in ocean at Coney Island.... thought of you...
have you seen the latest cover of the New Yorker?
The latest copy I have is July 7 & 14 of the new WTC
here's a link: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/\nculture/2014/07/cover-story-mark-ulrik\nsen-coney-island.html#slide_ss_0=1
mine arrived in yesterday's mail
Then I didnt get the latest copy again...will probably be in the mail this week. I have a link to the archives. will look at it later.
i think the fact that the artist lives in San Francisco says it all
My favorite mag. Have a subscrip for about 50 years on and off. This time on for about 15 years.
Let's here it for The NewYorker
something just happened with my chatbox
I must have been in my early 20's when I read a story that made me fall off the sofa laughing. It was the first Woody Allen story published in the NYer
the text keeps on going past the right margin
any tech help out there?????
Woody Allen still contributes and you know who else
is very funny? Jesse Eisenberg, the young actor
... you may have simply made the display larger ... you might be at 125%
he has Woody Allen's weird sense of humor
I must go back and look for his name
Here is a tinyurl for that link: http://tinyurl.com/qy4nl5q
Oh, now I remember
If I open the magazine online I wind up reading the entire magazine .
My daughter thinks David Sedaris is very funny.
the babble server hates long urls or long test postings:(
The text will continue going past the right margin until the long link below clears the bottom of chat.
oh, sorry, Molly, I had no idea it was my fault!
will avoid that in the future
Great cover, bt I would not swim with my mouth open at Coney Island
David Sedaris - also one of my favorites
Not a problem, it usually flushes in a few minutes. : )
will be back in a bit
Good point Bich : D
that's why I said the fact that the artist
lives in san Francisco says it all
he has no idea
cute picture, though
Roz Chast is one of my favorites
oh, me too, she's brilliant
did you see the one she did about her parents?
funny but very touching
about moving to assisted living
It's strange how some people get that extended chat box and some do not
i'm typing short messages
to keep the chat moving
and "flush" out the problem : )
You are a good plumber : )
right, and all for free
in my next life, I think I'll become a plumber
Yes, that was a masterpiece JBV
speaking of Coney Island, it is now time for Crossy's tidbit of the day! Today I am featuring the most toxic body of water on the planets. Yes indeed. Just standing by this lake for longer than an hour will sign your death warrant!! http://tinyurl.com/crgzfz
more lucrative
crossy, have to cross it off my most wanted vacation destination list
yes, i would, bichon. You get a lovely tan, but you do not get to enjoy it for long
Back again, hi all :)
wb sukee
Molly, "24" is over. But, Jack is not dead, think he'll come back?
colses eyes due to spoilers..poink!
I hope so Bich
What are the two voice level Jack can speak in? Whisper and shout.
I have to admit it was fun, and I liked his CIA sidekick. But, something out of the old mold
Jack MUST come back!!!
I would love a regular summer installment of 24. It's a nice break from all the re-runs.
We'll see. I never thought "The Killing" would come back, but it will be on Netflix next month
That would be good Molly. Is it on Netflix?
No, but it's on Amazon Prime and I have that.

Thx phaeton ;)
yw
good morning! halfway, nbt and nbs :)
good morning friends. It is an absolutely dreadful day here - downpour, thunder, the whole shebang. And I have outdoor concert tickets tonight, naturally....
thunder here too
bummer
I'm loving it - though I should probably turn off the pc
it was so cute this morning - I went out to my garage, and there was the sweetest little toad hanging out on a towel on the floor. NO ONE is enjoying the rain here, it seems
heh - MA weather is supposed to dry out this evening - you should be fine
latest report says not until at least 9....concert starts at 7:30. I don't mind getting wet, but the thought of the lightening is daunting.
yes - unless it's the electric light orchestra
or lightning hopkins
or thunderbolt newman
ooh I'm on a roll
nope - the bad boys from boston themselves, harry!
I am SO EXCITED!!! I love me some steven tyler, yes I do
dream on, trif
I figure the rain HAS to quit - it wouldn't DARE rain on the boys on their home turf, right?
can he still hit those high notes?
actually, I find the secret to being outside in the rain is to instantly embrace that you are going to get very, very wet. Trying to stay dry is pointless and futile. Get WET, then relax.
I never minded getting wet, as long as it's not chilly. But lightning - that's another story
I will let you know tomorrow. Mind you, if the lightening hits the mike stand, he will be singing in heaven
my favorite image is jerry garcia in a wild storm, standing on stage with his long silver hair blowing back
very, very cool. I have seen plenty of bands in the rain. Sometimes it's good, sometimes - not so much.
He can't hit those high notes any longer
he'll have to get a pinch-singer
poor thing....if he needs my help I will hop up there and help out
I have to organize so many things before we go! Tailgate food, ponchos, dry clothes, beer, try to find some other stuff for valentine, etc...but all in good fun
I hope you have a great time. Should be nice and cool, anyway
indeed.
this is when I love having a big vehicle - put the seats down in the back, spread out the picnic blanket, a few touch lights....very fun
I was thinking of trying to get tickets to the tedeschi trucks band - coming in december. They're already almost sold out!
is that susan tedeschi's band?
mean phantom: enamel
21 words left. *hoists up pants* Let's do this.

I didn't know phantoms were mean. : D

need help with pa 7 please. tried what i thought and not spelling it right.
Probably not a good idea to do that at work Judi : D

Mkg, you probably put an "i" where there should be an "e"
still cant get it.
the vowels are messing me up.
FINALLY GOT IT. ty.
it was the vowels.
It is a pa word, there is only one way it can go to hook up to the ending

english is a mongrel language. it has a ton of french in it from when the french occupied england (which was like 600 years or something)

yw lol
hey, i said don't laugh! lol
too bad :)
8-P
that is true, gwen, but I 'thought' we used 'think' or have a 'thought' - not je pe5 or j'ai pe 6
well, it's not in *my* vocabulary because it's nothing to do with heraldry lol

oh, dear, well, i never did study spanish
ty gwen
37 left, bbl
any more afor-n i run away?
same here -- did take french -- at the time I was school aged that was all that was offered here unless you wanted to take a 2nd language by correspondence. Most of us took French as a 2nd language was required for university entrance then.
counting down!
I think a 2nd language should be required for high school graduation ---- it is downright embarrassing that our students are basically uneducated in language compared to their european counterparts.
agree, we should teach languages, but not in high school, by then it's much too late. they should be taught from age 4 to age 7, give or take
starting in kindergarten, certainly
children can learn languages easily at that age. tons of research backs this us
I was lucky, in NYC there was a special program in which I started French when I was 11, in 7th grade. Then two more years in HS, 2 in college and voila, now I am living here! lol
i studies german in high school for 3 years and came away with very little
I couldn't speak much when we moved here, but my aural understanding was pretty good. Now I'm pretty much bi-lingual
but from singing in many languages, and from studing heraldry, i can sort of understand a little of many languages
we lived in quebec when our daughter started school. She had french from grade 3 and was fluent by grade 5 --- then we moved and french wasn't offered until grade 9. By that time she had lost most of it.
sehr gut, rubyfoo!
hmm, hat could that mean? lol, gwen
my third grade teacher was Mrs. Altschuler, and she was indeed, LOL
From watching TV here and looking for films with Fr subtitles (husband is deaf, but can read French), I've picked upsome Germank and can tell what they're speaking about in several languages without really knowing with precision
The key for me is that I don't translate, so can speak fast and understand
the part of the brain that understands a foreign lang is much easier to use than the part you need to speak a foreign lang
I never got better than a C inFr in school, though. My teachers would spin in their graves.....
well, i'm off, unless anyone wants another cloooo
hello
I can't even reach half, so I give up
Good night
hello goodbye, MLF
okay, bye bye
by ruby
bye gwen
can i get a clue for the la 5 please?
La that is
la + ms. peron with a different last vowel
ty cyber
does anyone have all the L words?
*!* ta da *!*
cyber?
what are you looking for, mlf
le 4/4 after the 2 le 5/10's?
never mind i found it
only one le 5/10
was it jay that you were looking for?
lol yes
anything else before I leave?
i am sure i can find something but i wont keep you:)
ok - hagd :-)
you too and thank you
is anyone here?
I'm in and out...
hi amel
*waves* How are you mlfan?
amel not too bad how about you?
can't complain, lol. ~:o)
no use in doing that anyway lol
i am looking for ne 4/5 from the top N on the 4th column?
never mind i found it
indeed not. everyone has enough issues of their own... the one related to tides?
i have no idea what it means
ends in a p
yup.
are you finished?
ales
oops
34 to go. getting ready to list.
i have 19 to go
I came to a standstill earlier and left for an hour or so. *shrug* plenty of time to finish up.
i caem ot a stand still earlier today as well .. havent gotten that much help from others but i mean that in a good way
use morewords for some words as well
that's my final resort but I don't hesitate to use it when I'm down to the last stragglers and my brain quits functioning... ~:o)
my brain dies out on occasions too
do you have either of the AN words?
never mind
nope. I'll look.
yep.
cut back to the left and up.
i found it ty
:)
yvw.
I usually have to list and that's when I realize that the singulars that I've typed didn't take but the plurals did, lol. I type too fast.
somehow we miss one or the other
and, of course, there are those that you saw "take" but didn't make it into the list after all...
I know I'm not the only one that happens to.
or you think you put the word in but didnt. i have found words that i entered and later entered them againi because they were not there
exactly! it's probably just my internet lagging but there are definitely words that get the green bar but aren't there when I go to lickety.
i think it has a mind of its own lol
there is that. AI, doncha know.
its never human error right?:0
nope. that's my story, I'm sticking to it. 0:-P
lol yeah right
i swear i have had so many problems finding 4 and 5 letter words in the past few grids its ridiculous
I feel your pain. Maybe it's babble overload?
I get toward the end and *poof* my eye to brain coordination is gone.
well, i am not on facebook much due to the fact that the computer was hacked from it it has major problems
so i babble more now instead and because i do it more i get determined to finish as many as i can. I had 70 left from yesterday's but the smaller ones i dont finish at all
and my husband doesnt want me on fb anyway coputer is very loud which is because of facebook but long before it got hacked
Ugh! I don't like the small ones most of the time because there are an overabundance of words that aren't words, lol.
amel and so much harder
I haven't had problems with FB but I don't do much out there... pretty much lurk and occasionally share something I find humorous... I find it gets boring before too long.

i used to use yahoo and aol but i cant remember my secret stuff uggh
oh it likes you does it?
LOL! Probably not so much. But that keeps me out of trouble... somewhat... *halo*
did you find the me5?
halo? you wish lol
no i havent found the me 5 yet unfortunately
it's a brawl.
can you break it down?
me +a three letter word for a protected side of a building or cliff or some other large object that breaks the wind
hand-to-hand combat. Ummm... me + the side of the island where the wind is still.
yes, thanks crossy. ~:o)
ok i used Morewords and got a me 5/12 thanks
hi cross

amel how did you get ahead of me??
well. glad the whole of babble has it now, then. On to the next word!
i have 4 left
LOL! Once I hit the list, it usually doesn't take long for me to wrap it up...
so not fair as i have been using the list too lol
yup, and you wonder how you missed some of them
i have one sa 4/5 but i cant find the other one.. the one i have ends in a vowel?
but others.. no way to recognize the strange ones
and this grid had a lot of those aloy
h'mm .. haven't hit them yet
but wouldn't know it if I did, lol
There's only 1 sa 4/5... ?
never mind i will find what i think i need now lo
lol
under the 2 sa 5's ar 3 sa 4' i am missnig one of them and its a 4/4 can anyone help?

FIREWORKS
i am out poof
howdy do all?
howdy jes
hey crossy, how goes?
going well:) always something going on to keep me busy:)
as long as it's busy and not overwhelmed :)
I cannot do overwhelmed:(
and you ? How are things with our resident babble vet?
pretty good; the usual monthly arguing with clients about bills, got 7 raccoon babies to raise, had a heat stroke over the weekend, ya know how it is :)
I owned a racoon once... never again
though they trainv ery easily
oh, these are not for pets, they will be released in the woods later this year
the one i had would sell his soul for a bit of bacon
he was later released as well
I don't need pets that are smarter and more destructive than I am!
that coon could open doors that even i could not get open!
trained him to a litter box in 2 days
but once his leg healed he wanted to move on
well, they latrine naturally, so I imagine litter boxes would be easy to manage. But I've never tried - mine live in outside pens with trees and the rain until they're big enough to kick out.
oh, they are super easy to train, but as you know they love the nighttime and chew on everything
among the reasons that they stay outside and aren't pets :)
as he got better, ours used to like to get on top of the fridge and pounce on peoples heads as they walked by
dangerous. and not so good to let them get used to people and handling either.
then one day he was walking well and we set it up so he spent more and more time outside and some pretty girl raccoon turned his head and he was off
I know. they are never meant to be pets
makes them less likely to do well when you release them, and more likely to get in trouble with an unsuspecting person in the future that thinks they're rabid because they're not scared.
he was back where he belonged in less than a month
we did not have the resources to do anything else and with him dragging he leg like that, it was best option at the time
30 left and I just found the le4 that runs along the bottom row :(
the one time we brought him to a vet.. $200,00 later!! we were told he must have fallen from a tree and hyperextended a few things in his leg and up into the shoulder and time would heal it. Since we could not afford to pay for vet storage time, we kept him till he could walk
Hi Peri. Sometimes the obvious is so elusive. : )
hi Molly, indeed
i'm sure he appreciated it at the time, i just hope it didn't lead to issues with someone else later. I'm surprised the veterinary clinic didn't refer you to a rehabber, but maybe rules are different in canada.
here, it's illegal for someone who's not a licensed rehabber to keep wildlife.
but I did find the Hawaiian goose early on
I do not know of any wildlife rehab centres here exept for one up north for large animals, bears, wolves etc
What? Were there not a dozen "Hawaiian goose alerts"?
I don't know. I did not see then
them, even
maybe at the flip.
29left and stuck
There are many odd words in this grid.
Yeah, sometimes they're hard to find - I'm apparently the only person in several counties that will raise raccoons. But that just means Fish & Wildlife wants them transported to me, not that they approve of people raising them in house.
and since i cannot get a bear to use a litter box, they get all my business for bear issues!
(also, why I have so many)
I wouldn't be surprised if a place that takes large predators would also take 'coons.
bbs, need a snack
I don't have the facilities for adult carnivores.... I'd have to pass bears on to the university
well, the one time was 25 years ago. if it ever happens again, i shall research it
and looks like my appointment is here, so off I go again.
our wildlife sanctuary also has a moose with health issues

I am back with homemade guacamole and pita chips
down to 25 words. monkeys are being helpful for a change
Peri loves her guacamole and chips
I do. and I never buy the store bought any more
Elbowing my way past Babblers to sit beside Peri & shaare chips n guacamole...
haha, Soodle * passes guac and chips*
Ta :-) Slurp!
Ho hum. Break over. Back to cutting the grass. Thanks for the virtual snack, Peri.
18 monkeys are very helpful today.
*Considers hiring a swarthy lawn team for Soodle*
Peri, I hate to break it to you, but there are no monkeys. Just your good imagination thinking of different ways to make words. : P
The swarthier the better, Molly. I fought the lawn tonight, and the lawn won.
AND! (on a trumpet blowing exercise), I made tomorrow's dinner, I wrote a snail mail letter to my elderly aunt, I painted my toe-nails (hat-tip to Peri) and I cleaned the oven.
God bless you, you wrote a "real" letter. That is such a lost art form these days.
She is a nun, Molls. She doesn't 'do' email.
About 300 years ago, I got a caligraphy set. Whenever I write to her, I use it. Proper ink nice paper. I actually enjoy using it.
No matter. I love words and I feel sad that people no longer care to write them in long hand. Or even on the internet. I mean, how hard it is to type out "take care" or "have a good day" to someone?
Ah, nice paper. Stationary. I bet that is hard to find these days.
Well (as usual, for me, there is an ulterior motive). Auntie Ella (the nun) prays for us non-stop. I like to keep on her good side.
Ugh, stationery. See, it's so antiquated I forgot how to spell it.
My kindred soul, John O'Donohue tells a story about a village elder that he asked "keep me in your prayers". The next time he saw her, she said "I have you every morning and every evening". His thought on that was "how nice that someone keeps you in the sanctuary of their spirit twice a day".
i folks
Hi folks
Hi Bich
Hi, all
leaving for vacation tomorrow. We'e taking the granddaughter to California
Hi Jax
New specs are awful. I am going to have to go back to the optician and moan.
After I have been to hospital tomorrow for eyedrops and sarcastic comments
Hey Bich n Jaxx. :-)
soodle!!!!!!
I believe the dreaded meet up turned out quite positive, Jaxx? I seem to have missed ypu online...
'You'
Oh yes, this
We have been interrogated by the SS (appropriate that) and the manager that wants this to be a child protection issue has visited Julie. She complained about the cupboard under the stairs being untidy, a computer being in the living room and the garden being overgrown so Ashley can't play in it!
Then she decided that there should be a meeting with all parties to get Ashley designated as 'vulnerable' which is less serious than the other thing.
Bichon, enjoy your family vacation. Children grow up all too quickly these days so make the most of it
I guess following the Jimmy Saville & Rolf Harris thing all these 'professionals' are looking over their collective shoulders.
Devon County Council was criticised for the quality of their child protection and there was a shake-up of managers. This woman is desperate to impress, apparently. I would rather she didn't do it with my family thank you
Jaxx, at the end of the day, as long as the little person is in no danger, is cared for & loved, job done!
I have mixed feelings about the historical abuse cases. I feel there is an element of cash grabbing in there somewhere.
I totally agree, soodle, but I could do without the worry.
back to the point of babble. I do not like this grid.
An elderly temperamental lawn mower being coaxed & cajoled by an elderly temperamental lady can be exhausting. I'm banjaxed, & off to bed. G'night all.
Night, soodle. Sleep well and I would have loved to be a fly in your garden! Thanks for being a pal
Hello?

hi jac!
Hi harp.x
I'm not here for long so you really do need to ask for clues, those here and lurkers, if you want them.
Not many takers for this! in fact, none.
Just finished major sneezing fit as dawn is about to break in UK. Damn! Another hayfever day.
need 4 to finish- fo5 and 3 fo6
fo + 3/4 of baby cow
fo + baby cow
fo + 3/4 of baby cow + vowel
Hi jimmel. fo5 describes a small pit or depression in a bone, fo 6 is the Latin plural and the next fo6 is the adjectival form, and the next a plural. fo6/36: fo + beef from male calves kept inside in the dark. This should give you the rest of the words.
hey, jac :-)
Hi Une.x How are you?
ok, and you? :-)
Doing okay, thanks.
I like your icon pic, Une.
one of my girls :-)
tyvm Jacula!! Did not look far enough in wordfinder-duh.
:)
jimmel - glad you got them.
No idea what worddfinder is, but glad it helped!
Any more clues needed? My pumpkin coach arrives at 4am!
a2zwordfinder.com
Oh, I know that site, jimmel.
I prefer morewords in a Babble emergency. LOL
Usually go to Lickety at 80% finished then use a2z for tough ones.
I can see the mice footrunners preceding the coach up the drive now. I can hear the rumbling of the coach wheels and hear the lash of the coachman's whip upon the horses...
Good night Jacula! Bedtime for me also. Thanks again for your help.
Goodnight jimmel. Sleep well.
have a nice nite jac, keep track of your glass slippers.
My final elusive word is fe 4/7 in the string of three fe4/7's. Any clues? Please!
