Hi there Rose.
hey ya peach. how,are you? are things settling at all?
Things a better today, Rose. And you?
better here too...days are warming up, nights still very cold....lol
How are you feeling?
okay, i guess. i'm having echocardiogram tomorrow, and see cardiologist the following week.
I'm sending you positive energy, Rose....prayers. Please let us know how it goes.
thanx you so much, peach. and i will be letting people who want to know, what the results are.
Good.
good morning all
Good morning, sprite
hi peach! How are you today?
morning sprite. {{hugs}} have you had a good night?
hi sweetie :) *hugs* Yeah, could be worse. How about yourself? ECG tomorrow, I see. How are the feet?
Doing OK today, sprite. How are you doing?
I am fine! Just dropped off the daughter and the husband and the dog. Home alone!
feet are where i lastsaw them, on the ends of my legs....lol
lolollll and how do they look, darling? Swollen or not?
lol, did you run through the house, screaming..YAHOO!!!...WHEE!!!
feet not swollen, which is good
I got my groceries, went into the house and left the door wide open, unpacked and stored, closed the door and made myself a yummy breakfast :)
yayyy for the feet!
i had a late brekky yesterday, when don and i went to the honey farm. the best omelet with cheese, tomatos, bacon, and mushrooms. and the chef cooked it in....wait for it....butter...oh my. the taste was soooo good.
oh that sounds so delish!
and it was very naughty...
naughty is good. As long as it is the exception and not the rule.
so, if there is a hench man, why not hench?
because as usual the man needs to tag along to everything.
*giggles*
I am having grapes, strawberries, croissant and a donut.
doughnut*
oh, nice. enjoy every mouthful, dearest.
I am :) it is delish.
any yoghurt with the berries?
OK, I'm hungry now.....back in a few
nope, just the fruit
don and i are hooked on greek yoghurt. lol, sorry peach
hehehe go peach :)
I love greek yoghurt. Rob too.
i used to avoid yoghurt because i thought it was full of fats. but it isn't. and it's such a great source of calcium. we just avoid the ones full of sugar now.
it is great food
oooohhhhh cool wind through the house!
oh, sprite, i have to tell you. when we got out of the car at church yesterday, i realised don had combed neither his beard or hair.
oh LOL
so there i was, spitting on my fingers and trying to get his hair to lie down. he refused my offer to spit in his beard...strange that.
oh how odd. Didn't he have a mother?
lolol
my kids go all YUCHHHHH as well when I try to rub away a spot on their cheek or something. And I tell them: it didn't kill you in 16 (or 18) years, it won't kill you now.
nice about the breeze, sprite. will that ease off the headache?
no but it cools me down, which is nice in itself. I am in for a treat these days. They predict thunderstorms at noon, around dinner, and tomorrow early morning. Ah well. Nothing I have to do, I can relax as much as I like.
oh you should have seen them... trying to get the second canoe on the canoe wagon. It didn't fit through the hole. Caya told them to twist the canoe a little, but would they listen? Noooo... Tools out, demolishing half the wagon, still no dice... Caya was standing next to me now, and we both yelled: Twist the darn thing a little. And yes, finally they did, and it fit...
and my lovely girl smiled at me and said: "I am set for the whole holiday, mum. Two guys together, they are gonna be so manly to prove themselves the whole time, I won't have to lift a finger." She is wise, that 'un.
oh i wish i had been a fly on the wall...and nice that the storms are about to break. it will be a relief in more ways than one.
clever caya!!
so true. The netherlands is not a good place to have a hot summer. As soon as the temp goes over 25 C, whoppa, thunderstorms.
she is so smart. Always has been. She could make her dad jump through a burning hoop from day one.
really, sprite? why is that? i didn't think the netherlands were mountainous. but then geography is not my strong point....much to don's despair.
mountainous? LOLOLLLL um no. Flat land, here. Very very flat land. We are actually on the bottom of the sea, you know. Nope, sea climate. Very humid as soon as it gets hot.
I hope it is not a bad omen that there is a broken canoe in the grid...
and that is because the land is so flat? the high humidity i mean...i would have thought the sea breezes would blow the air around, and cool.
not much breeze on hot days here. I think it is because we are a very wet land, rose. We are below sea level. Lots and lots of water all over the place.
that makes sense, sprite.
I am happiest when it is around 20C with a light breeze. I could easily enjoy that from May till October :)
a it cool temp wise for me....but what makes you happy, makes me happy. xoxox
ugh * bit *
we must drive you to the IJsselmeer when you are here.
hehehe yeah you are used to much hotter weather. I couldn't function where you live, I think.
np's sprite, i'll send you to hobart, capital of tasmania.
sounds good! Always thought I have an inner tasmanian devil.
never mind think...i know....you are after all the sister of my soul...
looked it up, looks like a nice climate. But it is far away from you.
*grins* Sister tasmanian devil soul :)
no. sprite. on the ferry and drive straight down the middle, we would be there by lunch-time. but if we flew, we would be there for breakfast.
omg... that is close enough. I would love that. Am trying to prep my love... to emigrate once he gets his pension...
just don't expect me there in winter...too b....y cold.
oh??? that is a possibility??
it might be. I think I would like it.
it would be lovely. and tasmania has some great waterways. rob and caya would love it.
I think caya might come along, or stay here for her study. Don't know. Yes, great waterways, great nature. The possibility to build something the way we want it... room to breathe.
I would love a place near or in a forest.
caya could transfer from where she would currently be studying, to one of our uni's.
I wouldn't be surprised if she would like that.
anyway, for now it is only dreams, but who knows.
np's sprite. about 45% of tasmania is natural forest, preserved by our parks and forests department.
dream on, beautiful dreamer
oh wowwww god I would love to live there. Just a small place, easy to keep clean. With internet, though ;)
:D I will. Dreams are powerful magic.
*giggle* you would be surprised at the fights we, the great unwashed, have with companies who want to log our forests. they lose all the time, but it doesn't stop them from trying. * sigh *
stupid assholes. Don't they know we need forests? To breathe, if nothing else?
by the time you get here, we will have the national broadband network happening, all over australia.
oh that would be awesome. Guess I should inquire whether Rob's pension would be payable in Australia, if we moved.
*sigh* like all big companies, they only see the almighty dollar. but we do win.
am glad you win. Am adding my vote.
if it's anything like the british pension, i am thinking it would.
yes, I think it might.
Rob could easily find out, I think. Nice project for when he is back from holidays :)
fireflies. Friendly grid today. Some really cool words.
WTG SPRITE!!!
I just found out that our AOW (state pension) is payable wherever we live. So that is one.
Hi gals - just reading the chat. Rose, what kind of visa do you need to settle there?
hi Dianne! *hug*
dianne, do you know? i am not sure. perhaps you will find the answer on google.
I have no idea about Australian visas.
dianne, do you still hold US citizenship?
me neither. You guys have 180 different kinds of visa, I just read here.
we have a lot of dual citizenship people here.
well, first thing we should do is save up for a trip to australie, rose. Visit you, and Liz, and travel around a bit in that tasmanian area.
Yes Rose, we have our US "papers".
yes, dear sprite.
I know Rose - my oldest son is one of them :)
dianne, your son is here?
Yes, in
In Brisbane
well that should help you a little, dianne. have you asked him? about the visa? i think you have prove you and hubby will not need support from the government ( but that depends on your ages ) and that you both have enough to support you and pay for your medical/health services. * but don't quote me, please *
Rose, I am not interested in living in Australia. When we retire we will go back to the USA. I was just following along on Sprite's future dreams.
what a shame, dianne. would like to have had you here, too. call me greedy...i don't mind. i like to have friends where i can see them...
thanks Dianne :) My being handicapped is gonna be a problem, I think. Ah well, step by step.
I would love to be able to visit Australia more.
sprite, if you have support from the government over there, surely it would carry to here.
All countries are concerned about people coming and being a "burden" on the government. Look what's going on with the US?Mexican border and all those kids coming to the states.
yeah, it's crazy, dianne.
grannyrose...the immigration laws are very strict in regards who can qualify for residency
yes rose, it might. It is going to be a battle, as far as I can tell, though.
Sprite - you should check on what Rose said. I know some European countries will accept other European countries health plans.
am gonna look into it. Thanks for helping :)
and hi, rolin :) Liz and her husband are beautiful people, it was so great to meet them.
i know rolin...but i would be sprite's sponsor...that might carry on the day.
good morning friends.
and g'day to rolin and trif.
hey sprite...they were as impressed with you it seems..*s*
hi Triffles! *hugs* How have you been?
very well thank you. enjoying the last month of summer
awww that is sweet, ro :) We clicked so well, it wasn't awkward at all.
enjoying sounds good, Trif. How's the love life? And how are the children?
going to focus of rescuing my poor neglected gardens this week.
please pray for my garden. i sent beloved out with secateurs and a spade to cut back the ginger. * rolls eyes * i am dreading going out in the morning and seeing what havoc he has wreaked.
delegate and let go, rose, lolollll. It will get done... at his time and in his way. And that won't be yours, but still ok.
hm the hiccup ate my message. Trif, gardenS no less?
lol, naughty hiccup. sprite i have been so laid back today...just realised i haven't put out my meds for the next week...
wow rose, good for you. There is still time. Laid back is the best. Proud of you.
ok lovely people, I am gonna lie down for a bit. A big *hug* and lots of love. And to all, a blessed day and a peaceful night.
thanx my darling...i am trying to not stress.
xoxox, to my dear friend. enjoy your day, sweetie.
I got the 9 by myself
{{annie}}
I just arrived and couldn't dream of the big ones yet
hi ((ruby))) How's things?
same same, difficult as always
I've been here about 10 minutes, went to put up some coffee, came back and saw words I didnt see before
what are the stats for the 9? At least then I'll know where to look
((ruby)) sorry to hear that..things should be easier instead of harder now but life doesnt always go to plan. Dammmm
this is what I signed on for, so I shouldn't complain. At least I have fruit in the garden and my wonderful pups!
and fabulous scenery and people who love and care
how is Bobby?
He had a seizure last week. He is okay now. He bounced right back. Took him to the neurologist the next day..he said he could go to the workshop so off he went. I worry about that happening constantly but it had not happened 2 years.
*for
was he at home at the time? You must have been very frightened
I think one of the problems with seizures (epilepsy runs in my family) is that nothing shows up in a brain scan unless it is happening at that moment
I was coming back from the eye doctor, got a call on my cell phone and drove straight to the hosp. He was alert so I took him home. All his scans show nothing.
It started when he was 25 years old.
my father had his first and only grand mal when he was past 70. Aftr that, he only had petit mal
good morning everyone:)
{{crossy}}
morning, crossy
((ruby)), annie:)
we actually have some sunshine today!
cloudy here, but looks promising for sunshine later
stats for the 9, pls

rose, what time is it in Oz?
I guess I've never met one.....lol
nearly 9:30pm, annie. i usually turn into a pumpkin 30 minutes ago.

tu pense?
(ya think?_ lol
ruby? she's a smart girl from queens.
((rose))
you uys make me smilem ty for that
and I type like I can't see....
je pense!!!
ruby, grandpere was from belgium...he spoke fluent french as did my dad...unfortunately, not so moi!
hey ya crossy...* grins *
do you know what part of Belgium? I used to go to Brussels and environs at least once a year when I was working.
i actually read francais better than i speak or write it.
i am pretty sure antwerp?? but i am exploring the family tree at the moment.
it's great that you can read it. I can read newspapers and magazines, but haven't the patience to read fiction. In school, I read a lot of Fr poetry
Antwerp is wonderful but I've only been there very briefly
grandpere's surname was de buvry de mauregnault. i am currently exploring the johan de maurenault site. apparently they inter-married with the de uvry's.
* mauregnault *
uh oh, you come from the nobility!!!
I should have known
oh, dear!! most people don't see that connection....yes dear.
i guess i am one of the black sheep of the family...
Good morning
hello sukee!
howdy sukee
g'day sukee
baaaa
* giggle *
isn't Oscar a kind of fish, cichlid, I think
crossy was a little lamb, whose fleece was black as soot, and everywhere that crossy went his sotty foor he put

foot
roflol, crossy....
* gives crossy a gentle shake, and then a cup of tea * wake up, dear...you are on the computer...
I should not stay up until 11:30 and then read for an hour before going to sleep...
mmm...tea...
why not sukee?? whatever turns you on, hun...lolol
It's find until I have to get up in the morning
yeah...name your favourite one, crossy. mine is ea4 grey.
mine is Ceylon Orange pekoe
Crossy had a little lamb, His beard was white as snow, etc.
lol, said beard is now 50% white
half and newspaper time
see you later, kids
hmmm, nice choice. i had proper leaf tea made from ea4 grey tea...i thought i had died and gone to heaven. it was so different from a tea-bag.
tc ruby
just kidding, crossy is just a kid compared to moi
yes mum:)
enjoy your day, dearest ruby.
*woof*
it has been years since I have had proper leaf tea. The choices in leaf are very limited:( On the bright side, I still have my mums tea ball
you can get leaf in the Twinnings brands i believe
nice crossy, will bring you a new one, in case that one falls apart.
Yes a friend of mine gave me a gift of leafed Twinnings tea a couple of years ago.
That was green tea though
the tea ball? I think not; it is shaped like a largish robins egg and perforated with holes on both sides and it threaded in the middle, . It has a small chain with a small metal bar at the end made to dangle outside the teapot. It is much dented but still works fine:)
has to be at least 3 oz of silver in the thing:)
that and pictures are what I have left. Crossy wipes a tear and raises a cuppa to his dearly departed mum
hello
Hi mlf
hi fan
hi sukee
hi annie
g'day mlf. crossy...i didn't say mine could replace your memories. but it will still give you a decent cuppa.
First column O?
os4/4, mlf
ty granny
I am sure it would:)
UN7?
tea is steeping and mugs are at the ready( crossy cannot use dainty tea cups, his fingers do not fit in the handles)
cross you cant even hold your pinky out straight to use a small cup for your tea?
to drink your tea that is?
one finger fits through the hole on those dainty tea cups
besides, crossy is a tad rough when doing dishes, fine glassware does not long survive:9
You are supposed to hold the handles, not put your finger through :)
use a straw lol
true su;kee
lol, mlf. Now that would be a sight to behold
Like I said before, I have a tea cup that is between a mug and a china cup.
crossjust let it get room temp and use a straw who would know?:)
Big handles :)
ride
darn it, sorry
mlf, un7, un + either to tangle or make a nasty noise in anger.
tea, crumpets, little cucumber sammiches with the crusts cut off and big ole burly crossy, sipping tea from a fine bone china tea cup...with a straw

granny umm?
ty for un7 rose
The Google doodle is very cute today
thanks, rose
what is it sukee?
sukee, crossy, i visit charity shops every week...the hospital only provides that thick white china mugs and teacups. i prefer bone china stuff. at the charity shops i can find bone china mugs, cups very cheaply.
It's a tribute to John Venn and you can make your own venn diagrams.

sukee, un + almost all of a trap + *augh, haha
or, un + not north + not south + c**, automobile + *ost and found

mlf, what is the opposite to north, use it's first letter
I guess my clue did not help then?
mlf?? and now??
granny i understood that part but i dont kow what is in between to get to go al or la at the end of the word and i understood automobile 3 letters
un+ what dog does when angry
easy peasy
okay, using the first letter of the wind directions only, un + *outh + *orth + c**, vehicle + *augh, not cry
it was an easy word ot get i was just making it more complicated lol
well done mlf. maybe it was the way i clued. no matter, you got there. well done!!
ty granny

I am so nasally today, have to hit the Neti pot today
anyone have the 9/10?

Don't know if I told you how my eye exam went, if I even told you :) My eyesight has not changed in 8 years, other than me reading stronger reading glasses.
lol, mixie, and g'day dear
crossy, must caution you, i won't be alone..lol
Hello, everyone! I finally have a morning off so am relaxing, having breakfast and getting into Babble.
Hi mimi
good news sukee. i am due for my next eye exam. judging by the way i squint at the screen doing jigsaws, i may be up for a new set of lenses.
Hey, there, sukee!
Glad your eye exam went well.
oh, mimi, good morning, dearest.
Rose, when you do get over here to visit, I will hopefully have my mountain house by then and you MUST come to Arizona and stay with me!
When I told him I don't wear my glasses all the time he wasn't bothered since they are just for distance.
it is ok, bring who you wish, rose. breakfast around here is always a groaning board affair with way too much food. When i really get going in the kitchen with it, most who partake will skip the noonday meal and perhaps pick at a light dinner:)
((crossy))
oh, mimi, not a problem, hun. i am planning at least 6 weeks for the US of A and canada. * please note i said at least 6 weeks *
(9mimi))
Well, breakfast IS the most important meal of the day. They do suggest you have a heavier breakfast and lighter dinner.
Where in Canada Rose?
has always been my way, sukee
where ever i fit...lolol. let's see you, jilli, flosey, joso, crossy....oh, dear, the list is getting longer and longer.
Fabulous, rose...I'll take you to the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley on the Navajo reservation. Who knows...maybe we can even get over to the California coast and really have an adventure!
Well, Kitchener is nice :) Do you drive?
I will take you out on georgian bay for a cruise amongst the islands then a bit of a tour on Blue Mountain
mimi, i now have so many american friends...that is why i need an open-ended return ticket...
come in June-sept. We can all go for a trip on the R.M.S segwun
I'll be looking forward to that same experience soon, crossy...hopefully October.
see my web site for pic and info on the Segwun
yes, sukee, i drive, as does don....such an adventure. when it happens, there are so many places to see, so many people to meet.

crossy, you are one of my short-cuts. link is on my task bar....
You will have so much fun, rose....this is an amazingly beautiful country with so much diversity. I've been in every state of the contiguous 48 except far New England.
you must come here. You have not lived till you have dined and had a tour of the bay on North Americas oldest fully functional steam ship
but really need you in june-early sept
...and Canada is gorgeous as well....Banff is breathtaking and crossy's home sounds amazing.
no probs, crossy. in 2 1/2 years my time is mine...
Banff is stunning in its beauty
cannot wait, but know i must....i so enjoy visiting new countries and places....
have to fill that passport of yours:)
i have had himself on the big plane and the big boat. just the big train ride...and then we will be ready to spread our wings.
I can accommodate the train ride, rose....there's a wonderful trip through the mountains in Colorado!
The great thing about living in Arizona is that you're only hours away from great mountains, the Pacific Ocean, and Vegas.
oh, mimi, have read aout it, and don't forget the one through the canadian rockies. hun...i am talking about the big train ride through our own outback. it is apparently a ride to remember.
darling mimi, vegas is not really on our itinerary, except as a photo prospect. everything else...let me at it!!
I so much want to see Australia and New Zealand...sigh.
ok, mimi does the train ride, I shall take care of the boat:)
well, then, hun, c'mon over. we would love to see you
You simply MUST drive up the California Coast on Hwy.1 from at least Santa Barbara up to San Francisco...just nothing like it. Carmel (just so. of San Fran) is my FAVORITE place.
crossy....boat. mimi...train...who's putting up their hand for the plane?
I can set up a sight seeing ride in an open cocpit bi-plane
cockpit
oh, dear...apparently there is a lot to see in the US of A and canada. when the time comes, you must all email me and let me know what is a must see.
You've done it now, rose---I am SO in the mood to travel!!!
a fella here has a pair of Link trainer bi-planes
Love road trips.
Back in a moment...
wind in your hair and the things crawl across the sky so slowly, you feel like you could almost get out and walk faster:0
mimi, love, if you get here before i get there...please let me know. i have so much to show you.
crossy, oh boy!!! what an experience...
it is a must-do, rose
I highly enjoyed it
bring a disposable camera though; just in casse you drop your i-phone over the side at 5000 feet;)
lol, crossy, no chance of that...dropping the i-phone i mean. and don's camera is super-glued around his neck...lolol
There's a fabulous scene in Out of Africa flying in a bi-plane with Mozart playing....totally awesome.
watching the closing ceremony of the commonwealth games...so good
I never did understand the music for that movie....
alant
sadly, it is a one-at- a -time thing with the pilot in front and you in the second open cockpit. Don shall have to wait his turn:)
SORRY!!!
It's Mozart---what
g'day godthaab
Hi granny!
sorry..cat interrupted......what's to understand?
g
give me something i can use next time, godthaab:)
*gives don first go every time*
The music had nothing to do with the movie. It was John Barry recycling everything else he wrote.
omg....just realised it is nearly 11:30 pm ...and i am having sooo much fun.
Are we talking about the same movie? It was mostly all different classical pieces. But the parts that were original were beautiful, imo. The music was what people were mostly listening to in that era.
Having so much fun this way....can you imaging actually being here with us crazy, wonderful people?!!!
imagine
mimi...never in a million years....i am looking forward to my visit to your part of the world so much.
Yes. I just didn't think the music was connected to the movie. I was really distracted by it. I can see classical in some scenes, but not all. I would have scored it differently.
I'll love being your tour guide!
god, did you see Somewhere in Time? What did you think about that score?
Looking for clues - de 8/55; en 7/36 and un 7/32 please

Seeing lots of rarely used 4 letters...sorta wish I hadn't started...hope I can finish, although after 8 straight hours on my feet, just sitting is pretty nice

My mom says there are two seasons here, winter and visitors.

I learned how to kick back a bit with company, from an Air Force Generals wife nonetheless...I show guests where breakfast items are, and where lunch fixings are. Then I only cook dinner.

Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today
hi Min
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Hooray!
hi min
hi, min
Hey Min, just to let you know, the Flicker photo link is either broken or has been removed. So your descriptions of the Jack photos in your profile no longer make sense.
la5/12 interesting def. other than a woman's name
off to get supper going -- see you at the flip if I'm still awake.
Maybe they were all monks who dreamed of La5
maybe
Goodbye cybernan! I'll see you tomorrow in the chat log.
Thank you MollyL! I wonder how that happened! How can I get my pics back? Has this happened to other babblers?
Min, your pictures should still be on Flicker. They are just not showing up here. As to why it's no longer working, that is a question for Dr. God.
I will give it a day or two and then I will contact Dr. God.
It's been down for a lot longer than a day or two.
As for other people who play Babble, no one who originally had a link to their Flicker photos still has it. It is a site error.
Well I have not been on Babble much lately. Those pics have been in profile for a long time. Any babbler who cared to see my profile should have seen pics by now
True enough. I just thought I would let you know that your descriptions of the photos in your profile no longer make sense. Too bad, Jack is a cute dog.
Yes, he is definitely a cute dog. Thanks again for update
At least we can still see see our profile pictures, which I do change every single day. I like it that you do as well.

Congratulations lbdawger on your fireworks!Good for U!
Hello penquis! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
Min, what are you doing for your short vacation between summer school and the fall semester?
Not much MollyL. Going to VT for a week&I'll be catching up on appointments. Too bad no Babble meetups in Aug.
Both my dog and I have dental appointments. I also need a mammogram and a physical. Also getting car repaired.
Dogs go to the dentist?
Yes, I take my dog to get his teeth cleaned every 2 yrs.
I have tried to brush his teeth, but it is such a struggle!
Yes they do Molly and it's expensive.
I give my two Bully sticks to chew on and it does a fantastic job
How often do you give your dogs the sticks bichon? I have never done that.I think chewing on things does not always to the job 100 percent. My dentist is not expensive and I only do it every 2 yrs. Also only have one dog which makes a a big difference, I am sure.
en 7 please?
clue for ca 7 please
I try to give them it every day. If it's a big stick, I'll take it away and reuse for the next day. This is *the* only thing they will chew on. The Vet does dental work and it costs about $250-$300 per dog, but blood tests for pre-op
