I was almost asleep playing this when my phone rang. My friends' father is coding right now, so she needs moral support via text on her way to hospital.
what's coding?
Hugs to you and your friend and hope her father pulls through.
i hope she is not driving right now Ormal
He is dying.
oh gosh.. so sorry ormal
Yeah bugs, they have no choice but to drive. They are taking their kids too. :( Their kids are younger than mine.
She needs to concentrate on driving alone. I have done that drive myself. I knocked 20 minutes off the regular time and had 20 minutes with my father.
I hope she gets time too
Her husband will be doing the driving.
Keep texting with her then. I was concerned there would be even more people coding.
me too bugs
Well, it's her FIL, his father, but he always drives them.
:) they've arrived at hospital.
I hope they have time to say goodbye but if not, I believe his soul is still there and can hear them.
osar
oops
Lol, thanks bugsaw, I didn't have that yet.
They didn't make it in time. I'll need to cook them some food tomorrow morning.
Sorry to read that, Ormal. Condolences.
I am sorry Ormal but they can still say their goodbyes. It will help.
That is tragic
Yep. I'm okay, but I appreciate your sentiments. He's been sick a very long time. At least he's out of pain now. I will just see what I can do to help them.
You are all nice people; thanks. I didn't mean to kill the chat...
two days of holiday at home...and two good sized grids...yay...
greetings friends :)
Hi there, puglet.
hugs and hi Peach
hi pugs and peach
Hi and hugs flosey
Hi there, flosey.
good morning all :)
(((SPRITE))) love and hugs
*hugs pugs* So glad to see you, dear friend.
same here!! for sure
how are you feeling today?
Good morning, sprite.
well a night of little sleep but other then that okay and you
*hugs peach*
I am fine. Of course the boyo came home yesterday and wanted dinner, lol, and his own bed for the night. But I made him promise to stay away until the weekend, so there will be some nice days alone left
and he didnt throw a fit-lol
am glad the package reached you, pugs. Isn't that tiny coffee cup lovely? And the teensy tiny spoon next to it, lol.
it is! thank you soooo much--hugs
he wasn't much pleased and kept trying to get his way. But I held firm and didn't give in to feelings of guilt. This mum is entitled to a few days a year without children, right?
thats right!!!! good for you
:)
you have done so great this year too! hats off to you, Sprite
havent seen that Mrs Rose yet
thanks pugs :) No, I hope she comes on soon. She'll be glad to see you too.
get this Sprite--I get up sunday morn and i told you about W, well there is a step ladder next to his bedroom window, lol and the front door is open--so dumb
oh what a total idiot :(
my thought as well-lol
cooee and g'day from me. HUGE {{HUGS}} to miz pugs and sprite
hello dear rose :) *hugs*
hugs and love Rose--so happy to see you too
was Wor on over the week end
had the echocardiogram today. get the results next tuesday when i see the cardiologist.
great Rose--hope all is good
keeping my fingers crossed for you, rose
just very briefly the last two days. he seems to be okay. still having issues with the nasty insects.
thats what I was wondering about--I need to send him a flea collar-lol
lolol
phantom: creasote
creosote*
i had to walk to one of the furtherest away theatres twice today. when i came back the second time, my knee was hurting, but i felt pretty good. so i couldn't understand when one of my co-workers kept urging me to sit down at the desk, and she would take over the care of my patient.
uh-oh rose, will you ever learn?
it wasn't until aout 30 minutes later in the tearoom, she told me i had gone as white as a sheet, and she thought i was going to faint.
that was nice of her--but bad bad Rose-lol
such well-trained patterns of repressing pain, sigh.
sprite, i have to keep on trying. i am documenting every thing in my diary, so the lawyer will have something to work from.
what good is all that if you are not here :(
I know, sweetie. Just worried about you. Last thing you need is fainting and then hurting yourself all over again.
ya think, sprite? i have taken endone today for the first time in 3 weeks. and magnesium may as well be jelly beans, the rate i'm swallowing them.
if you are going to faint wait until theres a nice doctor around to catch ya
magnesium can only do so much. Sorry you are in such pain, dear friend.
are you out of your other pain meds Rose
lolol, or a bed to fall into....plenty of those. only problem is...there is usually some lazy patient lying in it....lol....how dare they??
only one remedy then: all get out of bed and curtsy when rose passes by!
pugs still on the regular stuff. but i am trying to not take the strong stuff. i don't want to get so used to them, that they don't work. with all my drug allergies, i am very limited in what i can use.
*giggles* sprite
Rose, you are just going to have to watch and not overdo things--as hard as that is for you---be careful!
i know, i know...i think we have had this conversation before. i just had a flash of deja vu....lolol
giggle! just once? lol
and before.... and before...
not that I am counting or anything
yeah me either--lol
we are not wired that way, are we, pugs. We wouldn't bring it up again and again. Not us.
pfft to you both...;-P
*giggles*
oh, my, roflolol
well if you would do as YOU SHOULD we would not have to go over this every few weeks-lol
but in all seriousness, rose, I know you are doing what you have to do. Just, please, limit yourself so you don't do any extra damage. Nothing is worth revisiting the last year, my friend.
as long as that between takes, is it?? could have sworn it was within the last few days....lolol
nope! I have memory lost anyway and dont recall alot of things-lol
i so agree, sprite...
hello friends....and again, I am not sleeping, but happy to see so many dear ones in here
hugs and hi Tri---same for me as well
hi Triffles, sorry you cannot sleep but happy to see you, as ever.
that is a priceless pic, Trif, on your icon
thanks sprite...it is when wee kitty Nora was recovering from her fall, and tertiare wouldn't let her out of her sight, even at night, apparently!
so lovely. That kitty is saying so clearly: This is MY human!
indeed!
so hey! I have a HUGE job interview today at 10:30 - keep a good thought for me, please? Im so nervous!
g'day trif, dear. poor you, sleepless again.
good luck Tri!
of course! Holding you in my thoughts and prayers. Best of luck to you. Remember they are lucky to be able to hire you.
trif, what sort of work?
same as what I am going now, instructional support at a school, but a GOOD school - I am talking a seriously HUGE step up from the one I work at now, and my boss wouldn't not be the worst tyrant bully to ever walk the earth.
that would be awesome, Trif. Don't worry, they will love you. And hire you.
is that the same as a remedial teacher?
sort of.
im actually not sure which position I am interviewing for today - there are five open. Some will be one on one aides for particular students, which is what I do now. Some will be support for lots of students who only need a little help. mostly taking notes, getting organized, test prep, etc.
do you help teachers do their job better?
I am happy with either job. And yes, I hope to help teachers do their job better
now that would be so challenging, trif. i so hope it all goes well for you, hun. you deserve it.
I have to be honest - the student I worked with this past year was so adorable, and I will miss her something fierce, but I really really dont want to have to go back to that horrible boss
can't make an omelet without breaking eggs, Trif. Go for it.
Its time for me to retreat, ladies--blessings to you all and bunches of hugs--so glad I got to catch you all
thank heavens you break the eggs, sprite. otherwise it would be a very crunchy omelet....
bye pugs, have a good day at work *hugs* and lots of love.
lovely to see you, pugs.
blessings to you as well puglet
might be a whole new recipe, rose... crunchy omelet!
saw that on bear grylls the other night, actually....
see? Great for your calcium levels as well.
what?? crunchy omelets??
yes. Just what the doctor ordered for healing up that knee.
count for the lone e in the fourth column please?
i'm actually thinking the pain was more tendon related. my physio thinks most of my discomfort is stemming from the muscle attachments, rather than the muscles themselves.
es6/18
ess6/18
makes sense, rose. But you go eat those crunchy omelets nevertheless.
lolol...my clue is better than sprites...
hmpffffft
*giggle* loves ya, hun
*insert crossed arms, tapping foot and drumming fingers*
*tickle, tickle. smoooooch*
lol
any luck, Trif, or do you want more of a clue?
i could give her the last 3 letters if she likes...
roflol
as in crying veggie but dropping one consonant?
crying vegetable minus the negative response
or last three letters of crying veggie, switch vowels
*giggle* trif don't mind us, we are being very naughty.
rose is being naughty. I am just being helpful.
*smug smile and wide innocent eyes*
what was that you said, sprite? hmpffffft
yes, sorry....laptop had a tantrum and I had to reboot. thanks ladies!
yvw Trif
np's trif
I cant remember seeing that word before....
it has been in grids before. I consider it a babblet.
if I am not mistaken, it is some obsolete juridic phrase
anyway, thats nbt for me.....just checked on my interview frock, which I had washed last night and hung up in the bathroom to dry...it looked linty or something, so I am washing it again....
sprite, are you enjoying the grid? i had a ball.
I do! Lovely grid today.
Is co-10 related to the ones above? Thanks
and for once I have all the biggies long before the end.
i know you don't use the list. but with my slow brain i do, and i am pleased to say i had nearly 250 before i hit the list.
yes peach, it is.
wow, awesome job, rose
in that it starts with the same 4 letters, yes, peach
Thanks, sprite
Thanks, sprite
What related to the CO 8/55?
yvw peach :) Let me know if you need more of a clue.
don't ask rose, because she is just being naughty
Thanks much, sprite.
hi zooz! To both co8/55s.
g'day zooz. sprite is it okay for me to list just the co4 words which all start with the same 4 letters?
I have them all, so by all means. But I am not sure if peach and zooz want that yet?
OK thanks..looking I have both 8/55 & the 9
Sorry where is my manners...Hello everyone :-)
co4, 7, 7, 7, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 8, 10,
that really helped me, granny!!! thanks!
Hello my babble buddies - hope you are all well
hi Dianne *hugs* I am fine, how are you?
g'day dianne. np's trif
All good here. A freind brought over yummy looking (but hard as a rock) peaches. They would not ripen and were getting all wrinley so I just made peach cobbler.
ah, nice going!
I would love to have it, sprite.....I've tried everything. Thanks
I would love to have it, sprite.....I've tried everything. Thanks
peach: person who ending
peach, co 10, co4/7 + Over Size + vowel + ***ment, cause undue pain mentally or physically
Hi all :)
g'day liz. are you well today, dear?
hiya Liz *hugs*! How are you and your husband today?
Thanks Rose, but I don't know 'over size'.
Great thanks - how are you? Sprite, enjoying the time alone? Rose - how did the appointment go?
Hi Peach, too :)
not yet, alas, Liz. Of course the boyo decided to come home, demand dinner, and sleep in his own bed. But he will leave this afternoon and not come back until saturday.
Not long to wait then ;)
Looks like I keep missing Pugs :(
no :D He made me fight for it, lol. But I kept firm.
next tuesday with cardiologist for results, liz.
Good for you! Strong lady :)
OK, Rose. How are you feeling today?
oooh, ummm, ohhh, errrr,hmmmmm
peach: first 3 of the machine we play babble on, + the ***tman always rings twice + not he or she + either/**
OK - I promised no nagging! I can read between the lines!
nag. She deserves it.
peach, use the capitals, dear
pfft, ;-P
I'll leave that to you, Sprite! But I bet she's been overdoing it! That work thing - no good for anyone!
Sorry, Rose. Were you listening??? LOL!
*grin*
nope, had my eyes closed...roflol
Phew! Think I got away with that comment!
Hate it when I know I've entered a word and it disappears!
too true. And near the end you just don't see it anymore, because you know you entered it already.
Exactly!
i used to enter words tile by tile, nowadays if i see a word i enter it as soon as i see it.
I am still doing that, Rose..lol
sometimes it takes several enters before i realise i am spelling it incorrectly.lol
I always start with a free for all, until the well dries out. And then I go tile by tile.
takes quite some talent to spell it incorrectly, rose
see, i have hidden talents!!
I enter randomly until I'm ready to list. Have 84 left now!
goooooo Liz!
Hi Zooz :)
Nice going, Liz!
yay liz. you are on a roll.
Thanks so much, Sprite and Rose.....finally got it. I think my brain needs to sleep for awhile. Blessings y'all.
No - it's like treacle now!
Thanks so much, Sprite and Rose.....finally got it. I think my brain needs to sleep for awhile. Blessings y'all.
night peach, sleep well *hug*
Sleep well Peach :)
i hope you catch some good quality zzz's peach.
You did better than me, Peach I have given up on those few words for now and moved onto the next tile. Sleep well, Peach.
zooz, mate. i haven't checked in with you lately...how is mum, mate?
Grrrr! Just found the first to 4/4 - never see that cos I think it should have an h on the end!
All is well, Rose, It was my sisters birthday yesterday so we had a little party. The children loved it with over 90 pert poppers popped and a great deal of mess..lol
Party poppers..not pert..lol
Sounds like fun, Zooz :)
zooz: the co10: interco* + a tiny bouquet you wear on your wrist ***y + the guy who keeps a building clean and in working order = jan****.
nice, zooz. i am so glad...it is never easy to bury your own child. my hat is off to her!!!
It was until they popped a few balloons without me knowing and made me jump out of my skin...I hate balloons popping..lol
Liz, you know enable, loves alt. spellings :)
oh, me too, zooz!
Enable is just plain weird!
fireflies
not fond of explosions of any kind...
Congrats, Sprite!
Congrats, Sprite :)
WTG SPRITE!!!
me neither, rose.
Just discovered that I haven't entered any tr words! Missed them completely!
haha well no when you put it like that I am not either.
Can't say I love them either.
16 to find then, Liz, lolol
5 down!
I do tend to be a very jumpy type of person.
poor liz, and there are 16 tr words. happy hunting, hun
Word blind!
Getting there! Halfway!
go go goooo Liz! Try for longer words.
zooz, so am I. And with the darn ptsd, once the adrenaline starts to go, it takes ages to settle down again.
I guess a few with the 3 prefix then.
I understand, Sprite. In fact i am seeing my doctor on Friday about me being over sensitive.
yes Liz. There is a 4-5-6-7 combo and a 4-6-8 sort-of combo.
smart move, zooz. Good luck :)
Have the 4 5 6 7. Looking for the 4 6 8
start with the journey and make them rhyme with the other biggies there.
I seem to be getting a lot of anxiety again..I feel like telling myself to bloody man up and stop being such a stupid bloody whimp. But it does not work like that..lol
Have the journey. Looking further.
Zooz - you are what you are. It is being a man - that you are going to the doctor and dealing with the issue that concerns you.
I seem to be slow today I only have 52 words found hahaha
oh zooz... dear man. The very very first thing you need to do is STOP beating yourself up about it. You are man enough, and not a whimp at all. Anxiety is a disorder, or dysfunction, or something like that. You cannot will it away.
Found the 7
Have them. Thanks. Even though the first time I entered the 8 it didn't work.
the journey kinda-combo goes 4-6-8, Liz
wooot well done Liz! Odd ones, huh.
Just missing 2 x tr now - but they'll have to wait. Time for dinner. Glad to have caught you all. Hugs :)
enjoy your dinner, Liz, and a hug for you and your husband.
Yeah I know you are both right. But sometimes I look out and see everyone getting on with their lives. And I am still stagnant..lol..still back to the grid for me :-)
*hugs back* enjoy your meal, Liz!
zooz, you are not, and never will be a bloody wimp.
zooz, you only see the outside of those people. Everyone has their cross to carry, trust me. And you are doing something about it, that is awesome. Be proud of yourself. See how far you have come since the black pit of depression.
later liz, hun
Very true, Sprite, I am just having a little down moment Teehee!
OK, Rose, omit the bloody then lol
we are all entitled to some of those, zooz :D
no zooz, you are a hero. Nothing less. It takes a damn load of courage to pull yourself out of despair. And you did that.
sorry for the delay in responding, zooz. just answered a phone call from my younger bro re my inheritance from my mother's estate. probate is finished. and i may well be able to retire.
whooooooooooohoooooo! Yayyyyyyyy! Yippeeeekayayyyyy!
YaY for, Rose!
zooz, if the doctor should recommend medication, ask him/her about mirtazapine. That turned the tide for me. Might be very different for you, but worth asking about at least.
Will you not wait untill the insurance pays out first, Rose, Otherwise you might have to foot all the doctor fees?
rose, that is so totally awesome. Am so happy for you. *hug*
LOLOL my friends...you amaze me. enough to pay off the investment property, enough to invest, enough to buy a new car, enough to start planning our 2 overseas tr4s.
yes, workcover needs to pick up the medical bills
zooz, i am seeing a lawyer on friday. i really need his advice.
I am trying not to have any medication, Sprite, I am going to ask him is there anyone in a professional basis to talk to to help me through my mental state.
that is brilliant, zooz. Best way to go.
rose, smart move. Step by step, and not letting workcover off the hook too easily :)
I would not let them off just because you have got some money coming to you.As you said before it has got to last you at LEAST 20 more years.
but you might want to write it down anyway, zooz. If talk does not help enough, this might give you support until you can do without again.
Good point, Sprite, I will.
yeah. At least 20. Make that 40. And yayyy for the journeys, rose. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to seeing you for real. And pugs.
dear friends, I am off for now. A big *hug* and lots of love to you. And to all, a blessed day and a peaceful night.
i am also going to make an appointment with our social services department. they have a completely unbiased advice service which i am eager to tap into.
Toodle pips, Sprite. And thanks for the advice :-)
{{hugs}} and xxxxx to my dear friend. sprite i hope you have a wonderful day, my dear.
Rose, how would the social service department be of help to you? About work cover?
dianne, they have a financial information service. as i said completely unbiased. they will let me know if i am eligible for a disability pension. if workcover will not pay me out for the last 2 1/2 years of my active working life.
Rose, who is responsible for the hospital's neglect for not putting out the "slippery floor" sign. Who is liable for this?
That is a very good idea, Rose!
dianne, the hospital is liable. through their workcover insurance. which is what is keeping me afloat at the moment. between centre link and my lawyers, i am hoping to get all to which i am entitled to receive.
I need to get going. Nice to see you, ((Rose)) ((Dianne)) Toodle pips for now.
They damn well should own up to the pain, suffering and god knows what else they have caused you.
lovely to see you, too, mate. hope your day is kind to you.
dianne, that is why i am seeing the lawyers.
If this wee any other liability situation you would be getting over and above what your are "entitled to" becasue the pain and suffering aspect would be taken into consideration.
i think there is a great fight to make workcover realise i was working, with no problems when i fell. they are going to try and say it is my co-morbidities which are delaying my return to work. my argument is, my co-morbidities were not affecting me before i fell.
They are just doing what they have been told to do, delay, aggravate, delay again, put up another road block, etc.. etc., etc.
what time is it, pls? My babble has taken over the entire screen and I don't know how to make it smaller
yes, dianne. unfortunately for them....i am going to be ready for whatever tactics they want to pursue.
5:25 pm in Hong Kong.
according to bable, it is 4:30am, according to me it is 7:30 pm. lol...take your pick...and xoxox ruby
This has been the worst morning; this is the first time I've been able to sit down! I am frazzled
or you Rose. Don't let them get the better of you. You were in good working shape before this happened and you have tried your very best to get back to that working shape. The hospital is responsible and they need to own up once and for all.
*babble*
aww, ruby...you poor darling.
to start "
My typing sucks today.
Good morning
g'day sukee. are you good today?
Good so far, I'll let you know more after I have had my first cup of coffee.
oh, yeah, that first cup of stimulant is sooo important. lol
interestingly enough, the first word I found was very fitting for a just awake person :)
nope, i give up...which word is that?
It was the name of a novel by Robin Cook
co 4/6 :)
lolol....nice find sukee. yes dear...the book and film held me riveted.
This grid seems a bit easier than yesterdays so far.
sukee, it is a lovely grid. words just flow out of it.
we back now?
Guess so :)
oh, was there a hiccup? sukee, do you need a clue?
I'm fine, couldn't add words for a bit
surprised to find an archaic internet word there :)
dinner on the way. sukee, enjoy the game. see you at the flip. xoxox
have a great day
or night :)
morning all- stats for the top i in the 2nd column please?
and the e in the 4th :-)
Wolvie, in4/4 & es 6/18
ty juniper :-)
i obviously need to finish my first cup of coffee lol
np, & lol... I went to the list with 50 left, and am discovering that I should have got 95% of those. Grrr!
that always happens to me as well- i just started so am far from list- ty again :-)
hello everybody?
hah, my clock is back and I can actually see the time
hi ruby :-)
{{wolvie}}
hi juniper! we've practically neighbors lol
hi ruby; have you sent us this drizzly rain? It feels very continental ;)
we've had at least a little bit of rain every day for about 5 weeks. It makes the garden green, but the dogs and I are getting moldy
Never mind, the autumn wind is just around the corner to blow-dry you all :)
I forgot about that, no more whining from me!
good morning everyone:)
lots of Fr words in the grid: copain, sapin, etc
{{crossy}}
morning crossy!
((ruby)) wolive and welcome aboard, Juniper, tis nice to see some fresh faces;)
Hi crossy, ((hugs)) ... not really a fresh face, used to be city17
ahh, so just a facelift:))
but you could take on a whole new persona -- 6 ft, blonde, green eyes, m'importe quoi lol
It had been ages since I was on last, and couldn't get back in my old account. How are you (all) ?
lol, ruby, I'm not sure I could carry that off, even online.
I am fine and my beloved is fine as always.lots of interesting things going on as usual
I'm actually 25 and a real looker!
Careful, you'll get crossy all wound up ;)
My hot french GF:)
c'est moi! hahahah
and now it's' NYT time. See you later, kids, *woof*
good morning all. I found an 8 all by myself!
howdy, peri
bye ruby, nice to see you again. Hi Peri!
If I'm going to chat I should mention in my profile that I used to be City17 so people don't think I'm being awkwardly over-familiar. Unless no one remembers me anyway, in which case ... it's nice to meet you all.
how long have you been away, juniper?
lol- nice to see you again- hi peri- bye ruby
City17 has the ring of a TV show or movie...
Like Stalag 17, only nicer : )
I remember you:)
Gosh, it's been over a year if not two, Wolvie. BoJazz, it's the arena for the half-life games.
crossy loves the HL2 series, but it has been a while since i have plaed it
played
I also have episode #1 and #2 for it, but sadly it is now in storage
It's been awhile for me, too... my steam account was on my old PC, haven't been back on it for probably the same amount of time as I've been off Babble.
half life games??
i see i am sadly out of the lo4
me too Wolvie
first person shooter PC game, Wolvie
Stands with the out of the lo4ers
other things eat up my time now anyways
shooter game- as in a bang bang shoot em up?? lol i dont do those
Not everyone's cup of tea, but I got immersed in them.
help with the A and the J pls
but tossing around saw blades with gravity guns never gets old eh juniper? lol
i can see that- it is why i stayed away. i got addicted to the birds for awhile lol
and I cannot see the lone E either
48 C words, I am doomed
you had to pint that out, didn't you> I was blissfully unaware... till now:)
point
crossy, I will undoubtedly get dragged back in if they ever release HL3
es 6/18 peri- and the second column a has an ai 4/4, 5th column a has an am 5- i dont have a lot of a words yet lol-
sadly, juniper, the machine i ressurected from the dead that I use now is one up in technology from banging two rocks together and it will not play anything more complex than flash games;)
ty Wolvie, it was the corner A I needed
not seeing the es6 tho
NM found the es ty
cool :-)
my computer is almost old enough to vote!
lol- nice one crossy
I only have the at8. help with other 8's or 9's or even the 10 would be nice.
lol- i now have an 8 thanks to you peri- had not seen that yet
yw
plural that at 8 and get a 9
i dont have the 10
duh ty Wolvie. was so excited about getting an 8 I did not think to plural :)
*)
looking for at8...
8)
just trying out stuff

Time to refuel
Crossy never just "refuels" Brekkies is an event. It is creating a taste sensation using the freshest and most perfect ingredients. it is the one time the family sits together and shares with each other the goings on for the day. The smells; bacon, fresh coffee/tea, bread or biscuits hot out of the oven, the aroma of home made apple jelly and fresh squeezed ice cold orange juice that awakens all your senses as you drink it and drives the last of the night-time fuzziness away. Breakfast is almost a religion for crossy:)
now I am hungry:)

hi diane
well, shut my mouth. Serves me right for wanting to post something and then changing my mind ! Hi, MLF
lol
;-)
lol diane did you need a clue or stats?
Hi zooz
I do like your emblem, Diane. Is it a local one?
No, thanks anyway, MLF .... I never ask for clues
Hello, Diane :-)
Yes zooz.... it is the Alberta coat of arms.
oh ok diane.. i know that icon is an emblem but when you look at it from a distance on this page it looks like an upside down hamburger to me
It represents the grain fields, the prairies, then the foothills, leading up to the Rocky Mountains.
You must be hungry, MLF !!
that is so cool
It is a nice one. Our local flag too is pretty much self explanatory.
actually diane lol i had sloppy joe's already
Eeww that does not sound appealing, Mlf.
one of our favorite things to eat
I do like a good cooked breakfast type of meal too.But not greasy & sloppy. Yuck.
There is a fancier one but I prefer this simple one. The cross at the top is St George's Cross, an allusion to the arms of the Hudson's Bay Company, which once controlled what is now Alberta.
i have co 9 and at 9 what does the other 9 begin with?
and St. George's cross is in your Union Jack, which was our country's flag up until 1965!
Ah yes I just googled it and it came up with the ones you were referring to!
MO 9/60
is it something i should know?
Well it spells a bit like those round combed light chocolates.
i dont know what those are?
if you were a cabinet maker, it goes along with tenon ( the root word, that is ) Google the word "tenon" and you'll come up with a bunch of ideas.
ty diane - I had the 7/8 of that, but that gave me another 8/9
Heaven helps those who help themselves ;-) And now I have to go... playing the piano at the nursing home in half an hour. Good luck with the grid !
got them
t zooz and diane
94 left, and the list is beckoning
Hope it goes well for you, Diane. And enjoy yourself :-)
ty diane and have fun
Thanks.... and bye for now :-)
harry i just got that 8/9 as well
Sorry if I mis-lead you on that one, Mlf. i know the candy I was referring to starts with malt. but was hoping you got the idea :-)
zooz nope i didnt unfortunately
Should get the MO 7,8,9,8 with it really.
yep i did:)
SE6?
Most of the SE 4/5 + word they say for how many times you need to hit the ball at golf.
Zoom, add the fact that we call them Whoppers in US : D
Really??
Teehee!
molly i was looking at some pics of them and i was thinking more like some kind of a disc candy?
OH my so they are hahaha!
Zoom, you were referring to Maltese right?
No. Mlf they are Minstrels.
got the se 6 ty
Yes i was, Molly.
Or Maltesers
Minstrels oh:)
That is the ones.
I thought the clue might lead to, Mlf figuring that one out.
no idea what maltesersa are
They are Whoppers :-)
Ah well, the word in the grid is a woodworking term that not too many people know. Maltesers are a British brand of candy.
i know what whoppers are here in the US
molly once i saw the word i knew it was related to wood
and building
It's amazing how we speak the same language yet have so many different ways of referring to things : D
Very true.
We used to call the snickers candy bar..Marathon.
Plus we do not often say candy we just say sweets.
There were many times when I looked at my Canadian husband like he was from outer space. Like the time he asked if I had any Gravol.
And Starbursts were Opal Fruits
Mi7?
Made to make your mouth water..LOL..I remember the advert very well :-)
marathon bars and Snickes candy bars are very different i think?
what is Gravol?
Not in the UK
And before peanut M&M's there were Treets
Gravol is what they call Dramamine in the UK
Oh gosh yes Treets and if I remember there was one called poppits I think.
ohh i know what that is
isnt dramamine for motion sickness in the US?
Y'all have the cutest names for things. Treets, Poppits, Nappies.
no I thought Gravol was for sickness.
Nappies...where did that one come from..lol
Molly its like Whatchamacallit candy bar here in the US
mi6/7 clue pls?

am learning a number of new words.. not that I'll remember them..
I find I have zero retention for words I don't use. And if I used a lot of the words I learn here, people would look at me funny and back away slowly.
LOL.. so true, Molly
speaking of words i don't use... laughing at mo7/40

Story on CNN - Scrabble is adding 5000 words. How 'bout it, Dr God? Can we get an upgrade here too? :) http://money.cnn.com/2014/08/04/news/s\ncrabble-dictionary/index.html?sr=tw080\n514scrabblewords130pStoryPhoto
good day!
5000 ? !!! wow!

The worker at the mint was drunk and mi7ed all the nickels.
oh - found the ol 4
got them all now
rats, Annie
Molly, do you know how to fix this long long stretched out chat
must be annoying
It won't fix until that long url that was posted scrolls off chat.
cant read most of the postings, just disappears
we can help out, then :)
double drat!
Urls need to be converted at tinyurl.com before they are posted.
Hi mael, How's the baby?
still a lot of blanks on the right hand side of the board
Annie, all the way at the bottom of chat there is a sideways scroll bar.
So
we
must
flush
the
long
url
There, fixed.
way to go, Molly :)
out
of
this
chat
right
now
yay, Molly.. good thinking!
Hey, I can flush with the best of them. : D
Thanks! Molly, sorry for my rant
will know what to do next time
Many people are unaware that most urls posted here will blow the chat width. I wish Dr. God would fix that.
LOL.. well, fw here - and I should scoot , nice chatting with you all.. ci4 for now!
congrats Aloy!
long urls don't affect the chat in Firefox, guess it's a thing with IE or Chrome?
missing one j - have the jo4-5 - the other?
jo 6/36----funny, humorous
mmm - not jocular
close, same ballpark
found it - new one for me -- don't know why we have to have 2 that mean the same thing!
e stats, please?
nm - got it
I'm pretty sure the long urls affect chat in all browsers.
stats for the 10, please?
co 10/91
related to the co 7-8-9-8 series?
yes, nan
yes - got it -- why do people have to make the english language more complicated than it is already?
such teeny little nuances in meaning that it really doesn't make much difference!
Maybe we should form a society for the simplification of the english language!
english is a beautiful language, imho
nbt,nbs at last!
not to worry the kids are working on it with internet-speak. sson they shall be grunting at each other, cybernan
soon
I was hoping to eliminate the cyber-speak during the simplification process
I discovered this past week during my daughters visit that she has lost the ability to verbally comunicate -- and she is not young (has grown children). She spent most of her time here on her tablet - just as her children do. Makes one wonder why they come if they are not here to visit.
I'm all for that Nan. Maybe people will once again go to the tedious trouble of spelling out YOU instead of using U
Personally, I find it rude to be visiting with someone and be glued to your electronic device.
Hey, the English language incorporates all the people who have defeated this green and pleasant land thai is now being covered in concrete. The US have added their share of words while retaining a purer form of English from the 18th century. technology has removed the need for the young to communicate verbally when all they have to do is press a button. Something that has taken thousands of years to evolve will be useless within a generation.
That even
me too, molly -- but figured it wasn't worth the battle that such a comment would initiate
I can appreciate that Nan.
Would she have been able to verbally communicate that she was annoyed?
very disappointing, however
no doubt, jaxx
I hear the microwave has finished defrosting our evening meal. I am off to cook it convetionally. bbs
co 6/24 following the hot beverage?
Hi Folks! Can someone please give a clue for the co/10?
one who pulls things together
Music writers
I often see people in restaurants sitting across the table from each other, glued to their cell phones and not speaking. It's sad.
I think the music writer(s) is an 8-9
pl it nan
Thanks!
Yes, that gave me the 8 and 9.
have that -- looking for the one that follows the plural chanel
as well? do you still need the 10. If so pl the 9
It's me I can't count - blame calculators! lol
The 10 is a printing trade.
The 10 is not a plural it means one who pulls or gathers things together
co 6/27 plus third vowel and a rocky outcrop.
also a type setter
A printing trade!
still looking for that 2nd co 6/24 if anyone has a clue?
Sound a pigeon makes + **e is a visual organ

If it's cheating to get help then I would say 95% of most players cheat. : D
cheating is FUN !!!
well, some players may not think using a search engine to figure the word is acceptable, and to each their own I say. I just wanted to be clear I didn't have that word myself yet and I couldn't monkey it either so I found another way. ;)
tr 6 following the voyage, please?
i woukld NEVER finish a grid without siome help and i thank you all for it heh heh
nm - got it
4 to go
Listing, Morewords, asking for clues, search engines, reverse look up, it's all help. And everyone plays by there own rules.
I agree MollyL
Cheating is FUN...one of the many reasons I love SMom
I consider searching out words a form of fair play. It's how one learns new words and that's part of the game in my book. It makes it interesting.
se 6, please? -- assuming it begins with a unit of time
se6 - unit of time + *** for the course
It's like Molly said, everyone has their own rules, sets personal goals. As it should be, it's just a game.
It's like parsec, with the syllables reversed

Hi just getting started and thinking there is more grid here than I want to tackle but oh well. Dinner is in the oven so my brain might as well fry, too.
What a long grid. Bye all
Hi all. 46 left to find and my monkeys are finding lots of words that are either new to me or I've not seen in a grid before. So many, that I'm going to have to save looking up their meanings until later.
hi all. clue for the 10 please?
mkg co10/91 - old-style type-setter.
ouch. typesetter..........hmmmmm dont know the word i dont think.
co10 uses the first 6 letter of the song writers.
mkg - try this: if you enter something to win it, you are in a co**etition + vowel + to put your bottom on a chair + 'Is she sane ** is she mad?'
what song writers?
mkg - any songwriters! The co7/40 music.
*TheY

Hi bichon. It depends how long you want to spend doing so.
23 left to find here now.
About 40 minutes til I head for the bedroom
Bichon - Probably not then!
How will I deal with this heavy burden of guilt?
ten to go.
I'm sure you'll cope, bichon. ;) xx

ty mkg
I just got a shock, mkg, when you suddenly went from 101 words to find down to 10... then I realised you meant 10 until you're halfway. LOL
For a moment, I thought you'd wired you brain into your computer. LOL
yes ten to half way. now i am half way. just even. need 1 more to quit
now 2 words more than half.
night all.

I have some mi words from that corner if that's what you need.
i am missing the first two mi words...
are they 6/21 words, or are you not using a list ?
they are mi 5 and mi 6....
I have a list, but don't know what comes from what M
one would be mi + an ending that sounds like a health condition. the second one is what causes you to not hit your target.
ty....i used one of those, but i am still missing the first mi 5 and mi 6....the other one you clued i already have...
would they be the "penny pincher" ?
Top left corner can only be MI words
yes, but that didn't help me, lol....
penquis said bottom left ?
i did not say which m....
sorry.... you just said corner... my mistake
one is the thickness of paper.... + not ma ( then make it plural)
I was referring to a clue for phaeton....sorry

You have the birds?
and don't forget the plural to the one I clued
yep...havemi5,6,4,5...?
Yes
the mi 6/21 could come from that M....
i was able to restore lickety...yea!
Wwtg
Mi6/21?
mi + neur**** or psych****....
that was it...ty
yw...
qajaq is being added to the official Scrabble Dictionary. For when you have Q and a blank and no U.
hi, phaeton and penquis
Seain, you must have read the same article that I read. This caught my attention..."One of the new Canadian words creating excitement in hardcore Scrabble circles — “quinzhee,†a shelter made by hollowing out a pile of settled snow — could give a player a total of 401 points (if it is played in the top row of the board, ending on the top right square, through a previously played letter U.)"
Though, that would require adding ZHEE to QUIN, as that's an 8-letter word.
i heard about it on the radio this AM and just shared the article from a friend on FB
hi...
Well, as it says, you would have to play it through an already played U
ah! duh, that makes sense. or a previously played other letter depending on what one is holding.
