WTG Dee and Diz
thx, liz!
I guess i should know by now but what's "nbt nbs?"
no blank tiles, no blank stats
no blank tile, no blank square - I have a word for every square on the bottom left, under the grid, and I have a word for each word length (4, 5, 6, 7, etc).
in 7 x 3
I always thought it was no blank square no bull ****
tx dee!
yw
so did, I, ru... no blank stats makes more sense :) ty, flosey
I always work on one letter at a time so it takes me a while to get to NBT. My rule is that I have to get at least half the words for each tile before I can use Lickety's clues.

Hello sprite!
ty...see you tomorrow.
hiya saan :)
Hi sprite. .
hey ru :)
how are you guys today?
How is pugs doing...haven't seen her
I am tired. ..really lazing around...unmotivated
not too great atm, ru. Down and very tired and drained. In the process of getting divorced. It is all a bit much.
ah, one of those days huh... if you can, just give in to it, enjoy it, tomorrow is another day.
I hear that ...mine has dragged on for a long time
am sorry to hear that, ru. Those things are bad enough without dragging on.
It sure takes a long while to move through it
and you and pug deserve all the happiness in the world, too. I hope things move on a bit for you, so that you can start living again.
Sooner or later it will
no doubt. *hug* Let's make it sooner, grin.
oooo it is a monkey's grid today!
Yeah Einstein monkeys
monkey's reward
Thank you for your list yesterday. I couldn't have finished without it
my pleasure. I had to resort to a2z for a couple of those myself.
ah yes, Sprite, thanks, I would not have finished either, tired now, off to bed, goodnight all
You will need a 2 z...and more words tonight
night night, flosey, sweet dreams, and yvw
day before yesterday had some new words for me. Very obscure words! Interesting though.
I had to look up a few
yeah me too. The fish, for one. And the feldspar mineral.
Off to go read before sleep ...have a nice grid sprite
enjoy your book, ru, and I hope you will sleep well *hug*
another mineral today that is new for me, and another word that looks like a mineral but isn't. Interesting.
fireflies. Very enjoyable grid.
it is fun, sprite -- I'm especially tickled by visions of going ba9 - over hill and dale in pursuit of flop-eared, low-lying mournfulness.
oops - just noticed the time differnce; a mere 40 minutes between remark and response ... that must be a record. ... and since I seem to be talking to myself, I shall depart for showery-er climes forthwith.
hello nighttime friends
Hello from over here where it's 5:37 pm on Thrusday.
duh - Thursday
And hello from here where it is 10:38 am :-)
zooz - any good, juicy scandal from your side of the water?
Sorry, Dianne. Nothing that I can think of. How about you?
just graft, corruption and a few drug busts. Nothing juicy.
The only thing really going on over this side of the water is a Scotland vote to see if the people of Scotland want to go independent from the rest of the UK.
I know that is going on - which way do you think it will go?
Personally I think the people will decide to stay part of the UK. just a hunch mind.
I think so too. I;ve never been there but would like to go.
No I have never managed to go there either, Dianne. But have seen plenty of programs on the place. And it looks such a beautiful place.
It does look beautiful in all the programs I've seen and I love the accent.
The accent is a good one but if very heavy i just cannot understand a word they are saying..lol
That's true - when I hear the heavy accent I think of olden days, lord of the manor things.
A bit like an Irish accent combined with the speed at which some people speak as some can speak very fast.I have no chance of picking up any words..lol
Which is another beautiful country too!
I've never been there either - just visited through tv or movies.
I have 101 left and still no 9s..lol
Oh finally I find one!
I just found a ca 9 want a clue?
Thanks, Dianne. will give it a bit longer..but much appreciated though :-)
good morning everyone:)
Hello, Crossy :-)
Hi crossy
morning all :-)
Hi wolvie
Hello, Wolvie :-)

Good morning
Hello, Sukee :-)
hi sukee :-)
And now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!! Now, I kind of missed this one , but August 12th was World Elephant day, so everyone get out there and hug an elephant!
Ok..looking :-)
Hi crossy
I love elephants :)
howdy sukee
look no further zooz, here's one for you to hug...lol
hey zoo- let me know if you find one
lol- morning rose- not what i was envisioning :D
You are no elephant, Rose, You are a lovely huggable lady ((Rose)) :-)
french cigarette is in the grid:)
*smooches zooz*
and pl
how are you all today/tonight?
doing fine , rose and how are you on this rainy, cool day?
I am well thanks. hope you are too?
doing good rose- hope you are as well :-)
all good here, as could be. spent this morning getting the paperwork ready for the battle with my employer. then 'chilled' out for the rest of the day.
ugh and also good that you could chill :-) best of luck on the battle
ta wolvie. i have the union behind me 100%, so i am not alone.
I ams ure it will be like a cricket match, Rose. they through it at you. You & your lawyer will knock em for six every time!
very good :-)
yes, best of luck, rose. when do you "unleash the hounds?"
*Throw
Words are just jumping out at me today.
You will finish this grid in no time then, Sukee :-)
yay sukee, you rock.
hey- found a 9 all on my own- ba 9 lol
words jump out for me as well...for the first 100 or so:)
Nice one, Wolvie!
now if i could monkey an 8 i would be all filled in lol
I need one more 9 to complete my set of four.
any 8 i mean. have not listed- if there is one today lol
crossy, it is all in the hands of the union. they have postponed the meeting until we can get our hands on the latest independent medical exam report.
extend a SC 5/12 to get an 8 Wolvie.
ty zoo! that ending (ahem) is going to come in handy today lol
woo hoo, got a the ba 9 :)
yes...yes it has so far..lol
Nice one, Sukee!
niceeee sukee :-)
brb- refill of coffee needed
Rose. wonder how long it takes for independent medical exam report to be compiled.
zooz, workcover said it could be up to 28 days. they have a copy, that is how long it can take them to forward the report to me. even my doctor doesn't have a copy...* shrug * go figure
Oh I see. I thought as it is independent. It would go to a third party not from your works.
lol, they call it independent, but you can bet your last dollar, the doctors have been vetted by workcover.
Yes that was just what I was thinking, Rose. probably why it will take so long. They need to go study every detail. Saying all that, I still think they have not got a leg to stand on (pardon the pun) so you will be OK
one thing i would like to be able to say to workcover, find a doctor who is completely au fait with fibromyalgia and central sensitivity syndrome. send me to that doctor and bide by what he says.
you are fortunate you have a union working to get that reports, rose; with my beloved with disability, they took years bouncing it back and forth tween various doctors, then sending incomplete reports that had to be refiled again and again. it too us the better part of ten years;(
I was so lucky, I got accepted for odsp right away, however, I am not disabled enough for CPP Disability :)
yeah zooz. when i went through my papers, i found that on three seperate reports my fibromyalgia is clearly mentioned. yet workcover are claiming surprise, surprise. we didn't know anything about it.
Geez that is waaaaaayyyy to long, Crossy.
took forever, zooz
wow crossy
ugh, crossy, please tell me are she are through the morass of legalities.
got it all done just one year before her eye speciallsit retired though:)
and wow again to rose- unreal . of course here in the gold old US of A- you wouldnt get anything
ignore typos, still waiting on my first tea of the day
* you and she are*
yes, she is ok in that regard now, rose
good for you both, to come through it all, crossy.
is it any better with the new healthcare reforms down there, wolvie?
Wolvie, did Obama not bring in some sort of health care system where it is free for the poor?
snap
Snap, Crossy!
i dont know yet lol- still only half on since not all states signed up- plus it hasnt been here very long. the supreme court really screwed the pooch in its ruling- very political
Oh geez again! hahaha
there has always been a free for poor sort of coverage here- just not very efficient
so, they took a simple idea, and made a big mess of it...
that is usa politics lol
That sounds just like here too!
They should have gone for single payer like in Canada and most of the civilized world :)
should have been single payer- but they had to add layers to get anything passed- eventually it will be single payer and then we can sort it out :D
indeed, sukee
snap sukee
Our insurance companies are still doing well.
we just pay at tax time, but we can all get treated at any time without jumping through hoops
OK so sorry for my ignorance..single payer?
yes, my car insurance has never been more expensive lol
ours would too- but we take corporate recompense to the extreme in this country
LOL Crossy.
... our insurance companies screamed bloody murder and laid off staff when we brought it in ...
universal health care , zooz, paid with lots of lovely taxes
the govt pays for all zoo- like in our medicare for the elderly
Yes, but yet they make billions in profits.
yep dos- ours is doing the same- and good morning
Typical, Doseffing...why am I not surprised to hear that.
but i would rather pay more for gas, booz and smokes and get unlimited health care:)
For sure :)
Thank you, Wolvie.
yes they do- i find it abhorrent to make money from health issues- i think they should just be covered. doctors should make bucks and nurses et al- but not insurance companies lol. maybe for ultra policies- but the basics should be free
not that I smoke any longer:)
hi all
howdy jmc
off my soap box lol

Hello, Jmc :-)

They brought in marriage equity in Canada with no fuss and bother. Yes, some are against it but too bad :)
i bet jmc. :-)
yes, they had to adjust for out of country couples who later wanted a divorce, but overall it went smoothly
well we are in the middle of the last fight of a losing cultural. . . you can smell the desperation. . .

I was hoping he'd like that one in particular
you are a stamp collector annie?
no, crossy, my sister sends me envelopes full of clippings with wonderful assorted stamps. I send them to Bobby.
Oh Annie, that is cool that Bobby collects stamps.
ahh
not me, Bobby likes stamps but he is not a collector. Just keeps them in a file folder. Ruby puts loads of stamps on her letters to him
I used to be a stamp colletor, since I was a kid, and have a lovely collection of US plate blocks and mint sheetts
Bobby?
I should send you one from our Mail-steamship to pass along
A stamp enjoyer then : D
I put assorted Fr stamps on his envelopes, but the US ones my sister sends are much better
bichon, Bobby is my son. He has Down Syndrome. He works in a workshop and takes city transportation to work alone. I love him to death.
There are so many US stamps we never see, since most of us buy the generic type at the grocery store.
I'm his "auntie" 3000 miles removed!
annie, if you email me an addy, I will send bobby a post card with a nice decorative stamp
That's wonderful. I've heard you talk about him, but I didn't know for sure

First BA 6/24?
I see there is monkey food in the grid today.
monkey see monkey do
A timely observation that also works as a clue for MLF!
what do you mean judi?
BA6/24 - monkey food.
mmm, ba6 cream pie...
one of my favorite pies and fruits
I"m not a big ba6 fan. Call me evolved.
I love graham cracker crust
good morning all - lemon meringue pie favorite here
mmmm
howdy teach
I like vanilla or coconut cream/custard pies.
my da used to make me home made custard when i was small. used to hate the custard skin
ba 5/14 right after the baq9 clue please?

Custard = cholesterol. All those egg yolks. Yike!

ty
judi extend the gn 4/6 which is a bug

are there a gh7 and 8 but they are just from the other g or are there not them at all?
gn8 starts like the insect and the ending makes it a mineral
Well I get the first part of the clue.
(not a mineral by definition, but sounds like one... sounds similar to what tennis rackets are made of)
ok, insect + the opposite of black, but minus the w... does that work
That got it done, kje. Thanks!
yw
please when crosshair said about gh7 and 8 was he right that they exist but just wrong about where they start or do they not even exist?
they do not exist
ok
I think Crossy was snorting his tea. There is no gh7 or gh8.
bottom i clue?
in6 and 7 what you plan on doing
ugh ty
tony stewart had no in6 to kill the other driver but could still be charged with a reckless or negligent crime
it is laughable all the i words I was making up!
just passing thru -- BBL :-)
ty une
Good clue, JJ. I don't think they should charge Mr. Stewart with any crime. The other guy should have known better than to walk out onto the track in the middle of a high speed race.
that was kind of dumb
Reckless, irresponsible, suicidal.
sorry for the confusion, joseph, as I said, I think i will leave the cluing to others for the remainder of today
hello again
i still need the other in 7/28 not the one that was clued afer left a few minutes ago or so?

Both welcome :-)
People who love words and language are usually attracted to word games. People who love words and language are usually ones who wish to spell correctly. There are obvious exceptions to that.
i carry around a virtual red pencil (i edit a state newsletter)....but if i misspell a word here that is easily recognizable, i don't correct it....just me, i guess....
my tongue has scars from my biting it to keep from correcting grammar and mispronunciations.
actually , i have a scar on my arm ..............
yet you don't use caps.... ;o)
but THEY dod not have mrs tasker in the fourth grade and i did!!
Mrs. Tasker, what a name
lol....i had Sister Mary of the Good Heart!
questionable name, to be sure....lol....
Oh, bless you Pen. I know from experience what task masters nuns are as teachers
but i do when i speak.. just not when i type........ i used to but having arthritis cured me of having to be perfect
ah...that's a good thing then....i just find that i type faster here without using caps...
So, Marta's Mom doesn't have any kids who say "ain't"
i take shortcuts now thai i would never have dreamed of, even five years ago
as you should...
nmot arount me they don't
I have always disliked abbreviations for words, even before the internet. I always spell out a word, even street and avenue.
i am always amazed at how much editing the writing of professionals with advanced degrees requires...
me too, molly but i am getting lazy in my old age
Well SMom, I used the word lazy in reference to that once here and someone got all pissy with me.
well i admit i have used them in chat....mea culpa....but i will do it again, i am sure, lol....
i proofread a manuscript for a friend of mine a professor at western reserve.. corrected ther spelling ,grammar and punctuation.. she asked me what college i had been to that i could do that as well as i did and i said .. not college, but i DID pass mrs tasker's fourth grade english class unscathed
lol....elementary school is where i learned how to write properly, too....nuns were great at the basics....
i actually liked diagramming sentences, since it was so logical....
For me, it's not so much what was drilled into me in school, it's a love of words and language.
i do love word games, too....and i have always read a lot...
Pen, you liked diagramming sentences? The nuns must have LOVED you.
... but was it the eventual success in the drills that gave you the love of words and language?
we not only learned how to spell and pronounce the words, but the tenses of each word and the word origin
Not really Dose, but good guess.
for me, i think that was part of it...
hi all. any clues for the 9s? dont have any.

i should take a mineralogy course...i might do better here with that....
Really Pen, lots of those kind of words in these grids
my high school earth science class was just not enough!....though i do see loess when it's in the grid... ;o)
... just remember that whenever "ite" and "ate" appear in the grid that you should try them on the end of every word ... amazing how many minerals you'll come up with
true...good point!
snagite
Damn

Everyone doing well this glorious afternoon
fine bichon just bored lol. how about you?
too early to tell!
hi bichon, hi all.. lovely out but very cool
Been busy today. Power hikes in the woods with the fluffs, cleaning [taking advantage of Mr. Bich being out of town]
a wild turkey walked in front of me this morning.. saw another one fly up into a tree.. their population has def. increased
They are not birds to be messed with. They have spurs on their feet and not afraid to use them
plus the put you to sleep!
they
Why is it easier to clean with Mr. Bich away, does he hover?
ok.. I'll try not to antagonize them!
I once saw a coyote slinking away from a field where the turkeys were.
LOL.. that speaks volumes!
Ti 6?
tis a plural
http://tinyurl.com/kcvk986
hi crossy!
hello again crossy
do you have the babblet ti5.10 before it, MLF?

Hi fan
TH8?

Ouzo now being poured at the PB bar, for all you folks who like your liquor to taste like licorice. (Count me out) Opa!!
I love the urban dictionary definition of opa: a word that Greek people use for no apparent reason at all
... the infinite monkeys have lost some of their infinitude ... could someone clue the "sa6/21" please?
mm, seems I have missed a long of gerunds. They are just coming out of the woodwork now.;)
... I think I've counted 11 crossy
sa6, singular of a holy place?
any clue for the sa5/10 that is not the fabric?
Oh, no, it's a plural. My Latin sucks.
Well, since I am most assuredly going to hell, that clue does not help. :)
sa5 comes before Ana winds
... the infinite monkeys .. and I ... thank you infinitely
thanks molly
sa6 like what comes before "monious" meaning holier than thou
But spelled differently
If an infinite number of monkey's pounded away on an infinite number of typewriters they would create Enable...
ty
You have to hand it to this place, old jokes never (and I mean never) die here.
Hello again

Always nice to chat with you Bich : )
Mr. Bich is off in Idaho moving boulders so I have lots of time for Babble and other time sucks
As much as you love Mr. Bich, I'm sure it's nice to have some time to yourself.
I made blueberry cumble for dessert
Yes, of course and to box up all his crap, take it to the garage and actually clean
hello hello
Will he notice his stuff has been moved
hi Annie
hi bichon, blueberry crumble, mouth watering here
It's really easy. Much easier than baking a pie.
Hi, all. I love cherry crumble
Hi jaxx
Do you pit the cherries yourself jaxx, or do you buy canned?
Hi, Annie
I made a coffee ice cream pie this weekend that is way too good to make but once in a long while
Do you just bake the crust and then add the ice cream?
I really need to take the fluffs out. They're squeezing their paws together
It's a chocolate cookie crumb crust with the ice cream, blended with toffee chips.
We have a wonderful cherry tree in our back garden. It was supposed to be a miniature one but no-one told the tree and it is now 30 foot high and produces the most wonderful black cherries. I use those. That is provided I can beat the blackbirds to them.
brb
molly, that coffee ice cream sounds sinful
pie even

hell yes! the first time they cast someone i have actually heard of, and already thought was super. and scottish to boot. OH BOY
Be interesting to see how they develop the relationship with Clara - back to the old mentor type style of the older doctors?
NO SPOILERS please. seriously. i will leave if there are anyu spoilers in here. Thanks
David Tennant was also Scottish but he acts with an English accent more often.
That wasn't a spoiler! I have no idea. I also don't want spoilers. I was just imagining.
yeah, very unhappy that the 10th doctor did not have that nice scottish accent!
not you, i was already typing about no spoilers before you posted that
Watching Tennant now in a UK drama - Politician's Husband. Also using an English accent.
some fool told me when the last regeneration was going to happen. i could have died
hi, all
For me the biggest problem with spoilers is some of my ex pupils on fb in England.
hi...
hi owl, how you doin?
Hi TO
we in the US are looking forward to a show he's in where he's playing an American. I'm going to have to cringe while i listen to that LOL
That would be interesting! What show is that?
hi,liz,hi gwen hi, pen. as 8 the second, pls?
i never go to fan sites or the BBC site, the same problem
I've never understood why they use Americans to play English and vice versa.
let me see, it's a remake of Broadchurch, and I believe it's called Grace Harbor (?), murder mystery
as 8 the 2nd - clued earlier as as + plural spelling of American theatre awards.
Will look out for it.
perfect. ty.
Time to get on with the day. Enjoy your evenings, everyone.
broadchurch was awesome! waiting for season two
bye liz...
Gracepoint. And why cringe because he uses an American accent?
actors can do accents. that's what they do. nothing wrong with Muricans playing Brits, or whatever. Just my personal predilection for a good Scottish accent 8-)
the American accent (or should I say, Midwestern) is cringeworthy compared to Scottish, that's why!
i don't think there will be a season 2 of broadchurch. that was a "mini-series" not season 1 of an ongoing series. but I could be wrong
For anyone who watched Breaking Bad, Anna Gunn is in Gracepoint too.
You live in the Midwest, do you not, Gwen?
You live in the Midwest, do you not, Gwen?
yep, midwesterner since i was three, so i know what i'm talkin' about LOL
That's nice.
right now i'm watching some old VHS cassettes of a British drama made by BBC Scotland. Oh, lots of nice accents to enjoy
Bet if you moved to Scotland you would fall right into their accents.
i like your plan 8-)
