Morning all xx
HI Worz :)
hi
Hiya Liz xx
Hi VMD xx
How've you been, Worz?
Not so bad thanks. Suffering a bit with a pain in my back which I'm pretty sure is going to be another burst of pleurisy so that's something to look forward to. How bout you?
All's good here thanks. Look after yourself!
I will -I'm probably just being over-dramatic anyway lol
and ty x
lol - hope you're right.
en7
back pain isn't overdrama (in my humble opinion) :( it stinks
Dee, I agree.
I'm sure it does! Have you had another pain free day?
on prednisone now for a lower back issue... dreading that the dose is decreasing :(
right time for some caffine *semi-poof*
Do you decrease under doc's advice?
had bearable pain today; got to go to neighborhood picnic, which turned out lovely, with no rain ... yes, this is a decreasing dose regimen... 4 tabs one time a day for 4 days, then 3, 2, 1
can we take steroids and play babble?
So if it becomes unbearable, you tell the doc!
I'm off to bed, goodnight all, 1:35 a.m.
Sleep well, Flosey :)
night flosey
when I take prednisone, I can do anything, especially on high dose days... really don't want to stop... will see what doc decides to do next on the 11th at my next appointment.
Nite, flosey!
Sleep well flosey
thanks Liz and ru and Chrissie, be back tomorrow but no idea when
Definitely, Liz. This time was bad enough, I have been journalling what is going on, so I don't forget.
'night flosey
night Saan
Sounds like a sensible thing to do, Dee. There
There's no reason to suffer unnecessarily.
Also off to get ready for work, hagd all
I am trying to avoid surgery, so I am behaving, but I want to be aggressive in treatment. I didn't realize just how high / tough the pain was until I started the prednisone. Now I realize just how bad it has been.
Have a good day, Chrissie
bye, chrissie
I hope you can manage on the pain killers and avoid surgery.
tx, liz, me, too. My back is crap... afraid once they start, I would be in deep do do. I haven't been on any heavy duty pain meds, just steroid and a muscle relaxant for a couple of days at the beginning. I think a disc or two have bulged and are pinching a nerve.
Aging stinks some times... feel like an old jalopy that has too many things that need fixing LOL...
Ouch! Hugs and sympathy.
ty vm... enough about me, how was your day?
Good - whale watching this morning. Nothing spectacular - sad thing is that we see whales so often, that when they just swim along, we forget how magic this is for people that only ever see them once!
Oh, that would be magic. That is one spectacle I have always wanted to see, but I am sure for you it becomes a bit routine :)
No, not routine! It's always wonderful seeing them but we always hope for a breach or two or for them to come right up to the catamaran and "mug" us as they sometimes do. I do love seeing them and can't imagine them becoming routine.
Really amazing, Liz, and great that you really do appreciate them. Do you whale watch often?
We try to go every week (June to mid-October) unless we're away or the sea's too rough. I'm not a good sailor. They invented a season ticket for us!
So wonderful!!
Apparently, Migaloo, the only albino humpback is due to pass the coast sometime in the next few days - we saw him once in 2009. It would be amazing to see him again.
I would think it would be rare to see him twice!! I cannot believe you saw him in '09.
We were so lucky and I was so sick! I had a sick bag in one hand and my camera in the other!
He's fantastic and when he's under the water, it appears a bright aqua colour.
Yipes. I am not a good sailor, either, not sure I could manage it.
Interesting... aqua... did you get any photos?
I take kwells every time! Yes they were in my profile but the link's not there any more!
Truly wonderful, Liz!
But you can google him to see him.
So it was a fluke you saw him?
Nah! I'm spinning you a tale.
This year, he went through in June - there are concerns about his skin :(
Why is that?
I guess the white skin is prone to melanoma.
They saw patches on the skin.
Hi all - we also live near the coast and often see whales. There used to be a whaling station in Durban. Closed in the sixties. I love that since control on whaling has been strict that people all over the world now see whales regularly. Lets face it in the seventies it was so rare to see them close to land.
Are the other whales blubbering about it?
LOL ru
Hi Ursh. Yes the last whaling station here closed in the 60s. They say the Southern humpback population is increasing by 10% each year - about 18000 now.
Japan does not honorcwhaling laws
LOL, Ru! I can't compete in the puns!
too true, ursh. We did at least make those corrections (for a change) :)
True, Ru. In the commentary, on the boat, they have alluded to this when there
I think Japan has gotten a lot of worldwide bad press over that, too, ru... have seen several documentaries this summer about them being taken to task.
been Japanese tourists on board!
A lot of people woul krill to see them eat
lol!
lol
We saw them eating in Alaska last year! it was on our bucket list!
oh ru, good one
I am really slowing down with waaaay too many left ... hmmm
Hoping to see whales in NZ next year.
Humpbacks are beautiful creatures
Japan also herd and slaughter dolphins because they also eat tuna :((
Me too liz
Perhaps at the same time?
If we're lucky. I am going to be there for 2 weeks
in Japan or NZ?
NZ
Hope you make it. We've booked for 3 weeks - self drive b & b. But a great company to book through. NZ, Dee.
If you haven't booked, I'd recommend looking at relaxingjourneys.nz.co I think.
What a trip, ru, sure hope you can work out the details.
oops - got the co and nz the wrong way round!
Number one on my list dee
ve 7
hubby always wanted to make that trip... but never worked out. Now it would be way too long a trip for me.
That's sad Dee. I always wanted to go to NZ - much more than Aus - and look where I ended up!
No regrets, though.
lol... never know what will happen... no regrets, here, either. We have done so many other amazing things :)
I am going to stop at the solomon islands first to break up the trip
That sounds exotic!
I want to visit so many of the Pacific islands!
I am considering emigrating there someday
NZ or the Solomon Islands?
New Zealand that is
Are you really? How interesting?
! not ?
If it's anywhere near as nice as I've been told, that's a wonderful place to live.
Are you planning to visit Aus when you visit NZ. Rose will not forgive you if you miss her!
We will see. I suspect i wont want to come home
And I forgot the ?
That happened to me here!
No aussie trip planned
Another time, perhaps.
That always happens to me when we go to the Outer Banks in North Carolina... Last trip I talked hubby (cajoled) into staying an extra week. It was heaven!
WTG Dee - good talking ;)

Thanks for these stats! Taking a break. Seem to have got a bit stuck! Sleep well - hugs

I went to Lickety early this time. I stalled really early for some reason.
no small wonder with all the pain you are in
don't think that was my issue, lol, but ty. Lot of words I don't see or use much in this one...
I am going to get going though. Have fun finishing, saan! See you at the flip!
bye for now Dee
good morning all
and fireflies. Bye all.
Any clues for the CI 6/21 & CI 7/32 please?
How about clues for the CO 6/24 & CO 7/36 pease?
Finding the Cs hard today..lol
Maybe 'finding' is the wrong word to use..lol
good morning zooz..I have ci and mixed up Christmas for the 6 and add a vowel to the end of the 6 for the 7
mixed up Christmas in French if that helps
Hello, Westford. That worked a treat! Thank you so much :-)
you're so welcome..nice to see you
don't have the co's though
It is very good to see you too!
cooee and g'day from me
Hello, Rose :-)
co6, co + almost a moose + middle part of where you live
add a vowel for co7
hey ya zooz....and westy!! lovely to see you
hello rose
While I remember, Rose. Puglet sends a message to Sprite & your good self. "Everything is OK" And she is home tomorrow (I guess that would be today)as the message was from last night.
oh, thanx so much, zooz. i emailed her a short while ago.
Not too sure of the almost a moose part?
OH yep got it!
zooz, another word for moose? or the middle part of greeting, h**lo
Thank you very much, Rose!
Not seen that word in the grid before.
clever zooz
Well not so clever as getting it on my own..lol
it is an obscure word, mate. a little help is good.
Thanks to Westford and Rose, I am down to 11 more words to find!
Hope everyone is well?
yes, thanx zooz. and you? and your mum? how is she faring?
Mother is well I am fine too :-)
nice, zooz, mate
It would of been my brothers birthday yesterday. So I bought some fake crocus type flowers to put around his resting place. Was not sure what to do or buy.So thought that was the right thing.Mother seemed very happy with my choice though.
what a lovely thought, zooz. and a very difficult time for you all. prayers and love coming your way, mate.
that was lovely zooz
We do have real flowers there too but They do not seem to last very long. This way they can last through out the winter too!
Well autumn is here now.Not long before we get the golden brown leafs and colder nights.
Which means summer is on its way to you, Rose!
You could do what we have done and plant bulbs around the stone. They last longer and weather better than cut flowers.
i hear you zooz. it is spring here. this year i planted out some tulip bulbs. they have actually sprouted...lol...i didn't kill them.
Well done, Rose. Are they the full size ones or the miniature?
and my king alfred daffodils have stems 3" long.
full size, jaxx. and g'day
Hello, Jaxx :-) Yes we have pots of plants all aound the area.It looks very nice.
Yay I bet they will look wonderful when in full bloom, Rose.
Good morning.
g'day Rose. You have another citizen there in Oz. My great nephew has arrived, Benjamin, and weighing 8lbs
g'day sukee
Hello, Sukee :-)
whoot!! jaxx. welcome little guy!
Congrats on having a new nephew, Jaxx :-)
Filling up on water this morning, having an ultrasound. I have to hold it for an hour too.... sheesh
Well, closer to 1 1/2 hours
He is my niece's first child. She is 44!

Hope it all goes well then, Sukee.
Me too :)
How cruel, Rose..LOL
Just don't run a tap, sukee, or you will suffer 'sympathetic drainage'.
hey!!! i have had 3 of them...
:)
I come from a large family, Jaxx. I am begining to hate it when another one has a baby.I think more birthday, christmas presents to buy...LOL
Hope it goes well, sukee.
good morning everyone:)
Hello, Crossy :-)
Hi, crossy
and i was so upset at the last. i so desperately needed to pee...and the technician said i could go and drain a little off. it was no use, i let the lot out. i was so upset, i burst into tears.
g'day crossy
My husband had five brothers and eventually we gave up buying presents for anything but those special birthdays.
Aww bless you, Rose. But to be honest..when you are desperate for a pee.there is no way you can let just a little bt out.
I have just noticed the time. The fishermen will soon be home from the sea. I must go and finish the housework. I find Babble too tempting, that's the trouble.
* giggle * jaxx.
Bye all. bbl
Have a nice day, Jaxx.Fish for lunch today then :-)
Crossy must be making one of his specila breakfasts :-)

lol. Just had a good laugh. News form California is that new gasoline taxes will make it cost $4.09 a u.s gallon, that works out to around $1 per litre and they are up in arms... We have been paying around $1.30 a litre for two years ow, that is about $5.20 a U.S gallon
now*
lol at ve 7/40 some things that are words are just unbelievable.
and with that tidbit it is scool time for us. tc all and happy babbling
crossy, over here we pay AU$1:60/ litre.

dil makes me work in the garden Everything hurts!
ty rose- and good morning ruby :-)
awww ruby. {{hugs}} my dear.
it is beautiful here, breezy and about 80F
DIL des the big cutting; I do the weeding and edge-cutting
where are you ruby?
It is interesting to see how the holly, one plat of which I panted the first year, now has babies all over the garden
SE France, Harry, in the foothills of the Alps, above Lake Annecy
and himself, ruby?? what is he doing?
oh you're home
I thought you were elsewhere
he went grumpily off to his nap. He is giving me a load of you-know-what over everything
I can't travel any more as husband can't be left alone, even with the hou sekeeper coming in the mornings
lol...hand him a shovel and tell him to use his imagination.
himself sounds like that david james duncan book.
hi everyone, lol rose, if he's grumpy, I'd be afraid of how he might use that shovel
I don't think men can weed gardens. Unless hs is unusually awful, I think most of them refuse to learn which are weeds and which are small perennials
morning flo :-)
hi ruby
and flosey
oh, flosey, my dear. what are you doing up at this time, hun.
hahah flosey. And, maybe, Harry, you're a champion gardener, so I hope I didn't insult you by generalizing
hello TO and Wolvie and everybody
{{rosie}}
rose, it's 8:30 here in Ontario
ruby, my DH's idea of gardening is to level everything with the line-trimmer.
most things are the opposite with my wife and me - I try to keep her away from weeding, laundry, etc.
that is very funny.
oh, good grief, flosey. i have been here almost around your clock.
OK! only one tile left to nbt :)
your day is our night?
harry, which one?
lol Harry- so what do you let your wife do?
{{flosey}} I think I didn't say hello
woohoo! nbt and nbs :)
hi ruby, nice to hear from you
maybe you shouldn't ask.....lol
flosey, it is 10:30pm monday here.
wolvie I let her go earn a paycheck :)
ahhh- smart man :-)
ah, we're at 8:30 am Tuesday morning
well done harry!!
we're all about liberation here in new england
we're at 2"30PM Tuesday afternoon
"Babble circles the globe"
the kids have gone to work, brother is coming over later for lunch
duh, make that tuesday night....si5 i was forcibly retired i have lost count of the days...lolol
lol rose, I know the feeling, I keep a calender nearby but almost went to visit my friend today for couple of nights - it's next week I go there !!!
both hubby and I are long retired
I'll bet she would have been surprised
the kids start school tomorrow - so today they get checked for lice :)
so, flosey, that makes you 14 hours behind me, or me 14 hours ahead of you. take your pick...lolol
eeew
lmao-- harry. u aretoo funny
seriously - there's a long line at school today with all kids getting checked
here too, Harry, but at home (BC) the teachers are still out on strike so there will be a lot of working moms having to pay for daycare
wow- i didnt think they had to do that anymore
evidently lice have become a huge problem. I think with the changing climate a lot of insects that died down in the winter now flourish all year
wow - teachers on strike!
is this a physical check?
fie on teachers' unions. When I was a teacher, I refused to join
yes, they went out mid June and seems to be a stalemate
also with summer camp and world travel the lice come in droves. we have, so far, thankfully, poo poo poo, avoided the problem
flosey - how else would they do it? a virtual lice check?
I don't think it is an option, ruby
I assume poo poo poo is like spitting over your shoulder
had not considered that Harry. wow
yes :)
lol ruby
There are countries in which if you complement someone on how beautiful the baby is, granny spsits over her shoulder (or maybe on the baby lol)
that was my job, many years ago...pediculosis nurse and immunisation nurse....
I had to look up pediculosis
both thankless tasks, grannyrose
I don't remember there ever being such a problem when I was in school - was never checked - but we were immunized at school by the PH nurses
don't even start the immunization issue.
we found many kids infested...some kids had " strings of pearls". i.e. just about every strand of hair had up to 30 nits on it...
some schools do scoliosis checks as well
When I was a teacher, up 'til about 78, there were frequent outbreaks of head lice and pink eye and flu epidemics which would shut down the schools.
oh my gosh, rose, that's revolting
but the union wasn't obligatory and I worked longer hours than were needed, just to get my job done
taking a break- have a great day all :-)
bye wolvie
lol, flosey, not as revolting as having a child step up to you, and you can see live lice running up and down the plaits.
enjoy, wolvie. xoxox
uh oh, doorbbell
*woof*
at least the kids didn't need to bring snacks
ewwwwwwwwww - what a conversation and good morning everyone
i never got the chance to finish or ty rto finish more of the grid yesterday
how would they do a scoliosis check without xrays?
and we had to respect the kids wearing turbans. those we sent home ASAP without checking. we requested the parents to check the hair themselves.
just check the straightness of the spine
have the person bend over and eyeball the straightness of the spine.
scalp itchy, river? hello dearest...long time no see.
That's how I was diagnosed 40 years ago. I finally had someone measure the angle (from X-rays)
that would have been helpful for me, found I had such much later in life, scoliosis that is!
what can be done for scoliosis?
luckily my kids never got lice - was always worried about that when sending them to summer camp. My daughter has the thickest hair you could imagine. It would gave been a nightmare. The camps checked all kids the first day. If they had lice they were not allowed to stay.
100 words found. bbl hopefully. gotta go scratch my head.

Hi, Rose. the fishermen returned with a mullet which is destined to feed the cat. I have completed the House work so it is back to Babble.
my younger bro' is off to thailand again. i wish i could understand the fascination for the asian countries as a holiday destination.
well right now is it safer then other areas granny?
see you all later
roflol, jaxx. lucky cat...
daughter and her hubby spent a fab vacation in Thailand.. a beachfront place for very little $$$
mlf....that is an open question...
that was years ago tho
granny hmm
bye anniebrook. enjoy your day, hun
Red mullet are OK to eat, rose, but the grey feed around sewage pipes to feed so are a bit dodgy.
granny what time is it there?
Add to that they taste muddy. the cat is welcome to it.
after 12 midnight ....actually wednesday morning...
ah i wasnt sure how late
and i have to be up in 7 hours. second magnesium infusion coming up.
what is that for granny?
what does the magnesuim do, rose?
if i was clever....i would be saying goodnight to you all.....ummm...goodnight.
lol silly granny
magnesium is to help with the muscle quivering, and the nausea, and the body-temperature control.
sounds like it's a worthwhile treatment then
some type of disease granny?
i have fibromyalgia. a disorder which affects my muscles and other bits of my body functions.
ah i know other women who have that
that sounds terrible to deal with
mlf, this is relatively new therapy.
i had thought that too much magnesium isnt good for the body after a while?
saanichcat...i try to not dwell on it...otherwise i would be permanently down...
mlf, they infuse 5 grams, weekly over 4 weeks...then cut back depending on the body response.
I really do hope it helps you rose
5 grams seems to be a lot?
thanx saanichcat. so do i!!!
... back, was unceremoniously kicked off the internet for some reason.. granny.. I too hope that the infusions will help - so sorry you have this challenge
mlf...i seem to excrete magnesium very fast...infusing gets it into a cellular level quickly. we have to chart how we are feeling every week, between infusions.
thanx aloy. all positive thoughts and prayers are very gratefully received.
you got 'em !
and from me!
and now....i should say nighty-night. thanx aloyisius and jaxx. xoxox. enjoy the grid.
night rose, see you later
sweet dreams, granny.. ty again for all your help
Sleep seems a good idea, rose. Take care.
oh, darling, nighty-night to you too dear saanichcat

Howdilly doo, neighbors!
hi Judi
First lunch of first day of school :-)
Tater tots? Chicken nuggets? Jello mold?
Ketchup = vegetable?
Mystery meat!
Or worse yet... The Michelle Obama menu.
Erp
what is the MO menu?
All fruits and vegetables, very little meat, no desserts. Like prison food for kids.
wow, no desserts! couldn't do that
could, I guess, but would not choose to
There was a statistic recently released, say that, since the inception of newer, "healthier" school lunch offerings, kids are throwing out 50% more food.
mah, brought left over pizza from home!
Between that and "common core", parents can now be assured that their children will be functionaly illiterate and malnourished.
I would say, having worked lunchroom supervision the past few years, that that % is more like 80% Judi
Oh, but who cares about the illiterate thing. Parents provide their kids with cell phones so all they have to do is WRYT LK THZ
As with most things regarding schools, statistics are underreported. So, I'm inclined to believe you mcurl.
Poor English teachers must be tearing their hair out. Grade school kids are probably counfounded as to why they have to use all those extra letters in the alphabet when they just R-not needed.
they don't teach the "grammar" portion of English any more, they are more concerned with reading fluency than anything else.
Uhg. And I hear cursive writing is going by the wayside. Well, I always thought everyone would be better off printing anyway. Especially doctors.
it got so bad in our district last year regarding the amount of "condiments" the students were taking that the adults had to take over and the kids were only allowed 1 TBS of whatever the condiment was available. If you were having burger AND fries, you got 1 tbs (a 2 second pour) for both items.
LOL. Ketchup rationing! Absurd!
Yes, cursive writing; for most teachers, is no longer on the front burner. The 4th grade teacher I volunteer for REQUIRES all "writing" work to be in cursive and even deducts points if not done that way but she is a rarity
well, signing off for now as my lunch time is done! I'll be back in the evening.
hello
OE7 help please?

i thought it had a diffeernt ending?
clue that co pls
jeff its a co 6/7
to accept and go along with changes or rules..i think thats the right definition?
... co 6/36 ... to carry something across ... to transport something to another ... such as an "idea"
jeff did u get it?
not yet....
... if you change the fifth letter (vowel) you get word meaning a long line of trucks going down the highway
I want to know what is wrong with le 10/70 - most like a fruit drink?
ty
got it now
cyber ending in ist?
... it only has 9 letters
i think i know the word you mean i was wondering the same thing..why doesnt it work?
... but I still would bet that it could have been there
it should count as a word in this grid
right 9/54
... I'd bet that no one has actually used it ... as the adjective usually refers to dishwashing detergent
... and it doesn't work either
possible
we noticed it didnt work lol
... thus ... no words made up for advertising allowed
it could describe a drink or anything with that fruit in i would have guessed?
... you're right ... it could have ... but has it?
may I have a clue for le7/28 please?

LE8: to go easy on someone - like a first time offender.
ty judi
I was gonna ask if you'd gotten that, dose, but have been cluing so badly today that I didn't want to get started again, lol.
... thanks ... that's was the one I didn't have ...
Regarding the le5 citrus fruit + ice. That is an item that is two separate words. Hence, no joy in Babble land.
... yes ... but what about something which has the most le5y taste?
So, stick that in your ice cream cone and suck it.
that's what I was thinking, dos
Hmm. Good point. We must demand comparative justice for le5 conjugation.
... ooh ... I bet all the fe8/60s don't like the fe7/44 word ... ... and it must be an advertising word too
Also, if your le5 is possessed, wouldn't it be le5-ic??
... ... only if it was bitten by a bat and had all the juice sucked out of it
who is keeping the list of words for Dr God to add? LOL.
le5+iest must be added.
updating ENABLE would add a bunch of words.
and thanks, dos, i got two fe8.60 from that
agreed amelu re le5+iest
I just cheated and looked in A2Z for the Oe7. Frankly, I'd rather have le5-ade.\
Latin/Greek wine & honey combo. Ptui!

Most Mi5 pie.
Or mi7 meat : D

Kentucky had the wettest August since 1925 . . . I think we're probably tied with them!
Oh my, we haven't been quiet that bad
it's wonderful not to have to spend every waking moment watering in the August heat BUT I'm really tired of canine storm freakouts! LOL
I'm okay with a wet summer. When they are dry, people start wailing about tons of snow in the coming winter.
:-D
And here comes Little Miss Sunshine.... :-)
soodle!!!!
Hi Jaxx
This is a difficult grid.
I have 76 left - & throwing my hat at it. It's bedtime.

Sounds like it's raining all across the country. Still stormy here, and will be for most of the evening.
Is this a really tough one or is it just my muddled brain?
Hi peri. and car.

it is a tough one, car
Rain missed us :(
I would say this grid is full of more weird words than any one I have done in all the time I have played this game.
agreed, Molly, I was just thinking the same thing
Ugh. Maybe I will pass then.
I am glad for lickety and morewords, as well as excellent cluers like you, MOlls
Not even at 100 words yet
Could I at least have the stats for the left column O for NBT?
or5/12 and pl for the or6

I tried that too
Whew...a flurry of activity! Only 94 left now!

But it's in good company along with afro and chai
chai, that's a good one. yet another foodie thing that simply did not "exist" until recently (i mean, did not exist around here, now it's everywhere)
I prefer the tradional Thai tea....but it's hard to find, even some Thai restaurants (keep in mind I am in Mt) don't have a clue what it is.

LOL...only once a year my dear...
Well then, greetings and felicitations on this, your natal day.
no, not if you're the lead singer at a church where they sing it all the time, grrrrr
well i have found all the in-- words except the in6/24. help!
thanks, molly and jilly
Okay....think Beatles... ♫♫♫ They say it's your birthday, well happy birthday to ya ♫♫♫
brb
I didn't know churches had lead singers. Do you have back-up, doo-whop girls?
not all churches have lead singers. some call them songleaders, or soloists, or section leaders, or cantors. no doo-wop girls here, but there is a choir that sometimes sings backup
once, when we were doing a song where the choir just had to hum, i referred to them as my "pips" -- some of them did not think that was funny LOL
Oh see, I think referring to any back up singers as "Pips" is a compliment.
me too! well, we celebrate difference of opinion at my church, so it was cool
well, i'm off to the kitchen to whip up some grub. bye for now
see you later gwen
