hello friends
hi Triffles :) *hug*
hi Trif
can't sleep again....boo
:( insomnia sucks
Hi Trif - sorry you can't sleep. Like Sprite says, that sucks
I will sleep later. thank goodness for babble!
there are worse things than a friendly babble in the middle of a quiet night
babble is a good thing :D
I think if I started playing babble in the middle of the night, I'd never get to sleep!
How was your night, Sprite?
I does work eventually, lizlin....i think its the quiet repetition of looking, maybe, or the reassurance of friends
Reassurance friends I can understand. But focussing on words would wake me!
just the fact that there is good company to be had, even in the middle of the night... that is great
That's very true.
my night was good. No horrible dreams and not waking up every 15 mins. Thanks :) How are you and your husband doing, Liz?
great indeed
We're fine - he's deep into the house renovations.
That's good, Sprite.
good to hear. And nice, sounds like he has a good speed going.
I'm happy for you Sprite, for the better sleeeps
yes, that is good to hear sprite
Sleep would be good ..
He's pretty determined! He finished our bedroom and is now working on the dining room. Don't know what idiots built that - really poor workmanship.
hi torgone! glad you liked my facebook pic :)
hi torg :)
thanks saan :)
Heyas kids ..
and the mess isn't driving you crazy yet, Liz? And the noise?
SpaceX launch just happened ..
hiya torg!
Little mess and little noise!
wow, sounds like the ideal renovating project
Mostly painting. The noisy stuff - the wooden frames etc. is all outside.
I dont know what that is, tor - explain?
Commercial vehicle resupplying the International Space Station .. Launched from the USA ..
ah! did the launch go well?
Perfectly, apparently
that is good news.
so good to hear....MAN do I wish you and I lived closer! My sisters gave me two tickets to David Bowie Is...on Tuesday, and you would be so great to see it with, Torgone
Bowie would be a fun show ..
torg is checking time tables now
hahaha sprite
Unfortunately, I'm already booked for a trip to Victoria BC on Monday ..
well, whilst I will of course, miss you terribly, that sounds like a fantastic trip! have you been there before?
I haven't, but it looks like I may be going that way some more in the future ..
is this a business trip?
I love Victoria - great place. If you have time and like whales, there's a good trip to see the resident Orcas. There are 3 resident pods there.
Yep ..
that sounds great liz! one of my goals for the last half of my life is to really focus on travel....
Something we've started to do, Trif.
why wait until then, Trif? Go now :)
even if its local, I want to stop just working on the house weekends. that is important, of course, but I would like more balance
Liz traveled all the way to the netherlands :D
that is now, sprite
torg, there any many babblers in and around Victoria
Just me or no Lickety ??
nah, not for another 20 years at least, Trif ;)
To see you - it was worth it, sprite.
no lickety, lexi

gremlinn has a list
boo :(
I loved every minute of it, Liz
thanks!!
Same here :)
"no lickety lexi" is fun to say
Just not really long enough.
hahaha
happy birthday Triffles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I still say you are in the bloom of your life
thanks sprite!!! And yes, I am still abloom
Happy Birthday, Trif :)
for a present, may I please have a nudge for the two single o's?
no, if we ever can, Liz, we must meet for longer. My dream is to travel to australia some day and visit you and rose.
thanks lizlin
Bottom o is od 7, trif - more often with a de in front.
od7/32 for the lower one, od4/5 for the upper ..
bottom one is od7/32
I hope you make that dream a reality, Sprite.
or what torg said, lol
thanks friends! got the lower one....lets' see....
and the top one! nbt for me
it is purely a money issue, Liz. Who knows, if my book sells in america :D
WTG, trif
yay Trif!
That would be soooo good, sprite.
enable has no love for Yoda :)
yeah it would. *fingers crossed*
On all counts - hope your book sells. Looking forward to reading it too.
Also tried Yoda.
of course tried Yoda. Even though it has a capital. Because if an8 is valid, all bets are off.
Bet most people tried Yoda.
hehehe yeah I think so too
I refrained this time, heh
such self control!
Enable also doesn't have the compound word wo8
oh hey -speaking of books...I tutored a girl all last year in French. Two weeks ago her mom shows up at my door, GUSHING over Outlander, and pressing a copy into my hands, saying I just HAVE to read it...apparently she "thought of me" all through it, and just HAD to get me a copy. Okay. So I read it. Enjoyable enough, but steamy! Seriously- "50 Shades of Plaid" could be the subtitle. Slightly confused that this mom "thought of me" the whole time.....
lol!!!! No accounting for the way some people think!!
lol Trif! Wonderful series. And nothing wrong with a bit of steam. Lol @ 50 shades of plaid... and maybe she has a hidden crush on you.
cooee and g'day from me
or, more innocently: the protagonist is a very strong woman... and so are you...
hello rose *hugs* dear friend. How are you today?
maybe....or maybe she wishes I would just touch a rock and vanish?
hello rose!
Hi Rose
{{hugs}} dear sprite. still cruising. another good night and day.
never, Trif
hello trif, and g'day liz girl
And also bye - don't take offence! Time for me to be out of here for a while. Hugs to all
oh am so glad, rose! How wonderful.
But good to read that first, Rose :)
good bye lovely lizlin
later liz xoxox
bye Liz *hugs* for you and yourh usband
i have had just a few muscle tremors in the back muscles, and no pain to speak of in my shins.
wow, that is progress
and i am still cold....whee!
awesome :) Lol I had hot flashes all evening (hormonal ones) and went to sleep with the ventilator on.
so this is the end of day 5. tomorrow is when things have been starting to fall down again. but i feel so good today, compared to the same time last week.
looks like it works longer and better every time
yeah, it would be difficult to differentiate between hot flushes and CSS symptoms. have you had your hormone levels checked?
what is CSS, if you don't mind me asking?
not really, rose, menopauze is not strange at my age, so I kind of take it as is.
central sensitivity syndrome, trif
ty
might be a good idea, sprite. that's when the penny dropped for me, that i was going through something other than menopause. the 'hot flushes' continued even when on HRT.
ok rose, will suggest it next time I have bloodwork done
trif, google CSS, hun. i was surprised at the correlation between the symptoms listed and what i was enduring.
absolutely
are the 8 and the 9 related?
i have the nine....
unrelated
not at all, Trif

g'day crossy. how are you, my friend? and how is the other half?
babble had the most humongous hiccup before.
I am well as is my better half:) and how are you this fine sunday morning/ evening?
crossy, the magnesium infusions are working a treat. i feel so much better, not just physically but mentally/emotionally as well.
I am so glad for you. It is incredible how undending pain/discomfort can degrade our quality of life in not only the large ways but in a wide variety of little ways that we do not notice untill the burden is removed.
unending*
exactly, crossy. for the first time in ages i am thinking clearly, and moving easily. bring on next wednesday...
That's my girl! Kick Butt!

hi there granny, have a wedding to attend at 11:00AM
nice, annie. i'll keep quiet and let you babble on, then.
going to start getting myself in gear
be back later, have a good sleep, granny
Hello, everyone!
So glad you're feeling better, rose!
g'day mimi...and thanx...it's been a long time coming
and how are you today, mimi?
I know exactly what you're saying, rose. I suffered from back pain for years.
I'm really good, thanks. Had a lovely afternoon with my daughter yesterday. She brought me the most thoughtful little gift just for no reason at all....those are the best kind.
that is lovely, mimi. what did she bring you?
Disneyland used to have these little fiber optic wands that changed colors but the discontinued them. The last couple of times she went she couldn't find them and she knew I really wanted one. She found something very similar which is actually better because it's free-standing. Lights up, changes colors, very cheerful.
lol...i bet it gives you at lot of happiness. as you say...the thought behind the gift is what touches us the most. i hope you gave her a big hug.
I had a few things for her as well. I see things I know she'll like and save them until she comes over and then load her down!
For so long I had no money and couldn't do anything for myself or anyone else. It feels good to be able to show thoughtfulness again.
how perfectly lovely to see such a relationship between you two. i am so envious...
She wasn't talking to me for a couple of years....it's good to have her back and have our relationship on the mend. She's confiding in me again, which is what I really hoped for.
that gives me hope for my son and me. he hasn't spoken to me for nearly ten years.
Isn't that just the most painful thing in the world? My middle child (son) isn't speaking to me currently and that has been going on for over a year....I have no idea why either...I didn't do anything. All three of mine have been very harsh with me and I honestly do not think I deserved it. I love them, of course, but not the same way I used to. My love isn't unconditional anymore because they hurt me so terribly. I was actually suicidal there for awhile.
The only good thing about it is that nothing gets to me anymore because compared to that, I can handle anything.
oh, darling....we could be twins. i have tried to understand what is hurting my son....the other two can shed no light either. it is almost as if he thinks it was my fault that the ex was so cruel and abusive. the sad thing is, when i see him at a family do, i think, who is that stranger?
I was always so close to my daughter, especially, and for her to turn away from me so completely was devastating to me...and after a heart attack! One day they'll realize what they did and be sorry...I hope it's before I die so they can make amends.
For their sake, not mine.
Yes, we could be twins! My other two don't understand my middle child either!
{{hugs}} mimi. my sentiments exactly. i have been newly diagnosed with heart failure. i don't want my son to have to carry a guilt because he let me die, without making any moves to reconciliation.
I was raised by my grandmother and she died when I was just 22. I was never mean to her but I was neglectful...she always encouraged me to go and do and be. I never got to tell her how much I appreciate her. I'll carry that regret all my life.
* rueful grin * my dad died before i could tell him i had forgiven him for a childhood abuse. i truly regret that.
OK..here's a woo woo kind of story for you. I'm not religious but am very spiritual. After my mother died, I could "feel" her with me many times. That went on for years and sometimes it was almost like if I turned around really quickly, I'd see her, but that never happened..just the feeling. Then one day I was in the shower and VERY pregnant with my first child and I "felt" her kiss me on the cheek and leave. I never felt her with me again. I guess she felt I was OK now and went on to fulfill her spiritual destiny. I wish my children could have known her.
:-) lovely, mimi. i had a connection with my maternal grandmother. she came to me about 2 weeks after my first born. it had been a tough 2 weeks. i was very tired, and had a bad headache, and there was the little wretch yelling his lungs out...again. grand-ma told me, you have to get up...no-one else is going to care for your baby. she was standing right there beside the bed. i could see her as clear as day. i got up, took care of my son, and fell deeply asleep, as he did also.
That's fantastic, rose! I've never met anyone who has had this type of experience before. We really are twins! I'm so looking forward to you coming to the U.S.!!
All this will be in my book. It's going to be quite a read, I think.
* lolol * it's so nice to meet you too...it's not something you bring up in everyday conversation, is it?
Hi all - hi properly this time, Rose :)
OK....word issue. If you can "retard," why can't you "tard" in the first place?!!
oh, g'day liz girl. xoxox
Liz!!! So good to see you here!
Seem to have missed each other recently Mimi - good to see you too :)
What's this about heart failure, Rose?
Did you hear that I got my settlement award from Social Security?
No I hadn't heard that either - seem to have missed out on quite a bit of news :(
Congrats on the coming baby!
But I'm really happy for that.
liz, i have diastole failure. which means my heart is not pushing the blood through the ventricles as much as it should...hence the build up of fluid in my extremities.
You must be with family while the chance is there. My mum and da divorced in 1972. I was 8 and it was the middle of the night when she left. I got a kiss and a long hug... I remember the smell of her hair spray of all things... and she was gone. it was a taboo subject and never brought up or spoken of during my childhood. One day in 1991 the U.K police tracked me down through my drivers permit to tell our family that mum had died of cancer the week before. it seems that privacy laws prevented this contact until after she had passed. All I have are the memories of an 8 year old boy, the knowledge of knitting which she taught me, and a handful of faded kodachorme pictures and ghostly images in my mind. ... Perhaps let your kids read that.. because sometimes, way too soon, it is too late. ok enough of that crapola! let's hunt some words
Yikes!
does anyone have the lower O
Hugs to all of you - stressful times and memories.
od 7/32 - more often with de in front
thank you
yw
I'm sure that has greatly influenced the devotion you show to your wife, crossy. See...some good comes out of everything if we wait long enough and pay attention.
yes, time fades the hurt and leave the cherished memories behind.
{{hugs}} crossy, thanx for sharing that with us. it must have been tough on that little boy, way back then.
Good morning, in the middle of a nice thunderstorm. The worst seems to have passed.
Such a pleasure chatting with all of you. Now I must get to work. Take good care, my friends, and I'll see you later. Hugs all around.
g'day sukee
lol, I remember those cloth har bands in her head. She was still sporting a jackie kennedy hairdoo in the earlu part of the 70's ... and ladies! all that hairspray and lavander talc powder!! it used to be everywhere!! My da must of bought hair spray by the case!:)
hope your day treats you well mimi. xoxox
Have a good day Mimi. Really glad to have caught up with you even for such a short time. Hugs.

Anyone have a clue for that an9?
Movie: The An9 Strain
Ty, Molls.
Known to star gazers as Cassie's daughter : )
Down to 62 words. Too much work to do to sit around here anymore. *sigh*
Later, chore girl
*grumble grumble*
would love clues for the 8 and 9 if possible. cant get them.
Clue for the 9 6 posts down
ty. didnt see it. but must be spelling it wrong.
got it. i was spelling it wrong. ty.
how about the 8? did i miss that one too?
good morning *splash*
how are you doing, nan?
mmm that an 9 was a strain
now I need to find an 8
dy + the female person of honor at a wedding with a different first letter
good thanks, TO -- almost completely healed now
ty molly
stats for the lone o's, please?
in the right column, od 4/5
ty hpb
and the other one is either oc 7/40 or od 7/32. I don't have it, but that's what's left on the list.
it is the od 7
thanks!
the od builds on the od 4...
is it related to the od 4 before it?
oops, thanks.
no
think Arrid...Sure...Ban....and drop the first two letters...
if you put a de in front of the od 7 you usually see it in armpits
put a de in front of it and your pits are clean
snap ru
not clean actually saan.. just arid fresh
ty everyone
nbt, nbs
true, ru!
I'm making up words now.. this is silly
welcome to my world...
Well, any grid with woody and randy in it can't be all bad. (Note: I'm already in the PB mixing drinks at the bar)
cosmopolitan, please....need something strong for this grid...
*Mixes a girlie drink for Pen*
thanks for randy Molly!
it's weird I would think the woody would be pointing up to the corner of the grid
and here we go….
you just wanted a drink, saani....don't have to post words to go to the pb... ;o)
Poor, bent thing
<---points to molly's icon for saanich
!!!
there are two wo* words...
Yes Pen, we have all three wood words
*off to find a snack to go with the cosmo*....
have wo x2 -- no third -- related?
yes
the four letter word...
like a pecker
I mean woodpecker
Must have been a quick snack hunt
sure you did
I feel like a mo5, can\t find the 9
i am close to the fridge... :oD....carrots and hummus...
well saanich peter piper is over here
thought ruru might have fun with that 4 and 5 ;-)
Right next to Peter Peter
I love having fun with that 4 and 5 nan. I'm a guy
I haven't found one freaking word
grrrr
Teflon, total teflon : D
*pats molly on the head*
how many ledt ru?
27 and I don't see a dang thing
I still have 55, sigh
41 here...
I got down to thirty last night but it didn't help to start over
an 9 strain, ruby -- book and movie
why did you have to start over?
an 9 is also a constellation
I don't know it reset with 36 this morning
babble has been goofy lately
that is really weird
agreed, words I entered last night have disappeared too
I've been playing with the an for a while but can't seem to figure it out
The word list seems to have memory problems lately.
getting old like me
maybe babble didn't like all the an bush puns
I like to wrap up on even numbers or finish so it's weird when you come back and you have to figure out which words popped out
Ruby, do a Google search on "constellation an"
morning all
an + camel start ruby
gm jes
do you want a clue for the an 9, ruby?
ty, I googled it. Had forgotten the name of the movie
an 9.....an + Data on Star Trek was an an***id, mechanical person + a sit com is a co***y + vowel....
The only way to fix the dropped words thing is to copy your word list before you log out.
my clue should get her over the hump nan :D
an 9: word that means plus + largest city in Italy + british father
Oh my God, it's a plethora of an9 clues
I'm, feeling particularly dense today
better than a dearth
No worries Ruby, we all have our dense days
ain't that the truth!
not getting anywhere with the c's -- still missing half of them
I'm missing 7 of them
i'm missing 11, but i started a bit more recently - and answering phones at the radio station again
went to jazz at lincoln center last night ru. same building as per se. ooohhh!
missing 8 now
hi doren
hi dorens
*Imagines Dorens as Lily Tomlin's Ernestine...one ringy dingy...
hi ru, how's Aruba? and La Belle France, rubyfoo?
cr x4, co's for the rest
exactly molly. and i have a headset!!!
uh oh, it's thundering again It's been alternating sunshine and thunderstorms all day.
doren : "is this the party to whom I am speaking?"
Does anybody else remember the old switchboards with plugs?
*Thanks God for people who can take a joke*
morning all
In the words of Bette Midler, when she had a "costume accident" on TV, ..... 'em, if they can't take a joke
hi pini
Look, there's Pini. Hi Pini.
hi hi :)
Exactly Ruby.
hi pini
I "know" of them, Ruby, but never experienced them...I grew up with the rotary dial :)
my first job, when I was 16, was as a switchboard operator, just like lily tomlin
I bet that was an experience!
I loved it and was paid $1/hour
ONE whole dollar? an hour? WOW!
that was the last year of $1 minimum wage. The next year I made $60/wk in the summer
there were still switchboard operators when I was old enough to be making phone calls -- we were on a 4 party line too
* sort of puts network privacy in perspective!
I remember my grandparents had phone numbers that started with "Emerson ###"...never understood how that worked.
finally have the c's.. jesus.. some weird ones there
wd ru
in NY you could tell where someone was by the beginning of the phone numer, e.g Hollis
must be the 8 I have left!
or Buttrfield 8 (Molly's pic)
hey all ((ruby)) how's the grid? I have ten minutes right now...
hiya stid
you'll probably finish, stidmama!!
*passing cup o coffee*
hi stid!
oooh. COFFEE!!! *starts zipping through grid*
*giggle*
just got off the headset... lots of comments since i left. i am going to get a cup of real coffee, not virtual. bbs
hey saanich *picks up saanich after knocking her over on way to grid*
<---Still has a rotary phone
Wow, that's impressive, Molly.
what?
coffee sounds great -- back in a bit
do you fire up the horse and buggy when you go shopping molly :D
I still have a wall-mounted phone that looks like old crank phone, but has a rotary looking dial on it that is actually push-button (wow, hope that image works)...it's a fun phone the kids always loved to play with.
I use the rotary phone when the power goes out. All the other land lines are wireless and require electricity.
We have phones all over the house (no portables) but only one of them works when we lose power. Very weird system
would someone clue the first da 6 please
And I would love to horse and buggy to the grocery store.
fixed socks?
similar to devil, rue
I only have one, odd spelling for a beast of Satan
thanks, pini, i didn't have that spelling
thanks.. missed that d
Hard to notice that D. It only has 19 words that come from it. : P
I mean that sneaky a in the corner with the D :D
Damn those sneaky vowels
storm is too close. Good night everybody
night ruby
g'night, ruby
be well ruby
gremlin's list is helping
half way
I am down to 108 and time to go shopping while I have some energy. have a lovely rest of the weekend, all! *poof*
take care, stid!
Um Ru, Lickety is up
well.. if you can use a rotary phone .. i'll use gremlin's list
quietly enjoying the ruru/molly show
I'll just keep feeding the monkeys!
Oh copy the grid in pencil and paper and really rough it.
how many crs?
4
how about sticks and dirt?
4, nAN
smoke signals
ok - have those, so missing 6 co,s I guess
what time of day does the site have a large uk presence? hello doren.
23 co's
Or if you are feeling lazy, just read over chat. Usually 80% of the words are clued there.
hi owl
getting bored with his -- time to consult lickety and be done
hi TO
after teatime TO of course
i will check back periodically since no one seems to notice.

you calling your fellow babblers weird, ruru?
co6/27: add "** or die" to the end of the co4
a co word that has six letters ewillow
eW...it's the first 2 letters of a word, plus the number of letters in the word
not all of them nan.. just a few .. including myself
ty ruru
click on help at the top of the page, willow -- all is explained there
in this case it's a very large bird co 6
ty - fellow Can - will check it

ty pini
co7 = Chef Cat Co** + hump + ** or not ** be

Trust me, my clues need all the help they can get! :o)
hump, no hump ? -- not sure where it's going
*ties fingers*
co7 = co + co**l reef + one hump letter + ** be or not ** be
co + he *** in the race + first two letters of Canadian city
Nan, think of the letters in lower case
co + scream + vowel
Canadian city where the CN tower is
ty - that did it, molly
(The most major effort for a clue ever)
comontreal
damnit
but it was worth it, Molly...worked out in the end!
:)
it's weird word nan..
damnit is a grid phantom, ru :)
Dammit is not in my vocabulary yet today. The Redskins are kicking some Eagle butt.
I think I'll leave and watch some football.. take care everyone have fun
have a good one, ru! :)
Waves at Ru and says GO BRONCOS
c ya ruru, go steelers go
is cousins the QB today?

ROFL
do + first four letters of a word that means late for school
dotard

Best clue award goes to Saan!!

Lots of drinks, ladies choice.

I've been here too long

*Gets out Greek translator*
ty pini
I got it from my joseph and technicolor dreamcoat knowledge
*putting greek on my online course list*...

en5 = e + it's the **** (not odd)
just monkeyed the correct suffix on the first try
Yeah!!! cuz I was positive I couldn't come up with a step-by-step clue!!!
ty pini
I have no idea how to say green in Greek (waves hi after a few years)
od4 = pungent aroma?
Harry relies on a lesser known 80's musical
is that the 2nd column pini?
second column o is od 7....like Arrid, Sure, Ban, but drop the first two letters...
1970s, no?
ty pen! nbt

I think I'm going to go for a bagel sandwich...(bagel, cream cheese, tomato, avocado, lettuce [alfalfa spouts when in season])...wonder how that would be with bacon, too....hmmmmmmmm
(toasted bagel, of coures)
*course
*Still laughing at "pregnant woman facing backward letter"
yeah, that was pretty good, molly...*pondering - maybe I should revisit how I describe my letters* LOL
Or facing left, laughing too hard to get it right
*Opens the window*
it's either nice outside or you laughed so hard you tooted! LOL
...and on that note...I think I'll take my leave...perhaps be back later to attempt more clues. ta ta until next time :)
Has everyone left?

I came down to turn things back on after a big, nasty storm and VOILA!
Hi Rubes, how are you, dear friend?(!)
It's sue and soodle and hello anybody else
Bienvenu!
long story, I'll have to write. Miss Raffie is outside howling like a wolf.
hope all is ok by you, ruby!
She is the funniest of all our chows -- sleeps in the hedge, not in the house
I look forward to hearing from you Rubes.
That sort of rhymes lol
Sue, how is Frank doing?
he's ok, soodle, just went to take a nap
and how is Sue doing?
I am ok too although the nap sounds rather tempting :-)
Well, could you give him a cuddle from the weird Irish lady you are friends with, please?
good night, ladies. I'll write tomorrow, soodle, must see to that wolf-dog
will do, soodle!
which weird Irish lady?

you can click on LIckety's Babble Clues below the grid and that will give you the first two letters of every word....
is that right ?
yup....and you can enter words at the top in the box...hit return and if they disappear, it means that you found a word in the grid....
it works thanks man
