Tht is so odd, crossy, and what are the Canadians thankful for? I tried to explain the US holiday to les francais without success
no Indians here and barely any turkeys
We switched it up this year. Beef is so fabiously expensive in the last year we have hardly had a drop but for stewing beef bits every now and then in the slow cooker, so for Thanksgiving I bought a old time beef roast. It is about 6 pounds in weight and a thing of beauty. I will serve it with mashed, steamed veggies, yorkie puds and my home-made gravy. Dessert will be a nice dutch crumble apple pie with a scoop or 2 of French vanilia ice cream on the side:)
I sed to make a Thanksgiving feast here, but had to go to Switz to buy an American turkey and the French never "got\' a Thursday lunch!

Not really, they have their own families anyway. My best friend actually lives in a different city.
I have been alone once or twice on days such as this, and I find the best thing to do with yourself is to find someone in need and make that day just a little bit better for them and you in turn make the day worthwhile for yourself.
I usually spend the holidays alone but I don't mind really.
We had an independant mortgage broker in town. For years he has gone out every thanksgiving and every christmas and bought 250 turkeys, 250 small bags of taters, canned veggies and 250 frozen apples pies and gives Full meals away to those who need it. He is a cancer survivor as well and we have gotten together for a beer on occasion. :)
There is a guy in Kitchener who does the same thing.
says it costs him about 5000 dollars. He feeds 250 families for 2 or three days each on 5k. Not bad at all

Molly, not that I know of. She can go to TKTS. You can get discounted tickets for shows that have available seats for that day. The drawback is you have to stand in line sometimes for a long ti4.
