hello there Dee!
hi saan
Hi everyone, just home from bridge
hi flosey!
how are you doing Saan? has this grid been an easy one?
doing just great flosey, how about you? Grid is fun and easy
good thanks, won e/w tonight - first time in a while
well done! How ofter do you play? Same group?
every Monday night, my regular partner was busy tonight so played with another friend
we have quite a large membership but they don't all come out regularly
tonight we had 6 tables, have had 8 but it really fills our little hall
Sounds like fun. Over here we have a 'book club' every thursday night - it veers often from the book under discussion fairly often...
that would be interesting, do you discuss one book an evening?
small communities can be really fun, mostly!
yes, we try!
yes
actually, goofed - it's one thursday a month
so is a title announced and everyone either has read it or does through the week?
ah, sometimes it would be difficult to read that much every week
the host of the club that evening has their choice of books and leads the discussion. Then we drink wine.
nice - are there any negative views on the choice?
interestingly, there are several men who come as well.
so it's a fairly large group?
varies from about 7 - 12, sometimes more, especially in the winter
Sounds like your book club is bound for glory
some of the choices are a bit of a slog though. I admit to cheating and reading reviews instead of the book!
I'd find it difficult to bother reading a book if it didn't interest me
true enough. Time for bed for me, it's been great chatting with you flosey.
nice chatting with you Saan
sweet sleep
thank you, and the same too you.
I'll get into jammies and be back, would like to get a good start on this grid before bed
guess I'm alone here? anyway, off to bed now, 30 for tomorrow

est
cooee and g'day from me
good morning all
{{hugs}} my darling. you are latish....bad night? how was yesterday?
hello my dear rose *hugs* Yeah, not a great night. And I just made a wrong step and I fell. Hurting badly :( Yesterday was fine. Low profile all day.
and you, rose? How was your day?
pay back was today. not the knee...the back muscles. went to physio. she is sooo good.
oh wow that is awesome. Not the pain, but the physio. What did she do?
don had an appointment with her today also. the muscles in his neck and both shoulders are very tight.
for me, she did trigger point massage. i could feel all the muscles relaxing.
sprite?? you fell?/ not good hun...what happened?
I have to get in and out of bed with wooden stairs. Which usually goes well, but since I cannot feel my feet, I don't know when I am standing fully on a step. So I slipped and one leg went all the way down, while the other was still on high.
and i have just realised the cramps began again after i started to take the aldactone prescribed by my cardiologist. i am going to keep on it as the ankles are behaving. and the cramps ARE manageable with the magnesium.
sort of a vertical splits....you poor thing. and don't you feel so silly.
hun, you are obviously going to have to visually watch where your feet are at all times. what a hassle!!
not really silly. I just cannot feel my feet, so it is hard to prevent this. More like pain, lol. Back and hips are hurting, and lots of muscles are stiffening up as well.
yeah, I usually do... only when I get out of bed... no glasses, no light, still a little groggy...
are you able to sit in a warm shower? loosen those muscles ??
maybe the cramps will become less when the infusion therapy progresses?
too much pain to undress and stand or sit in the shower. This too shall pass... ;)
yeah, sprite. i am so looking forward to that time. to be pain free is not something i remember.
is he almost due back?
early november...just over 2 weeks.
Hi Rose and Sprite
pffff two more weeks. Bad timing on his side, rose.
hi Dianne :)
I see you are both dealing with some pain - sorry to hear that.
ooohhh!!! i am a granny again. my beautiful sister sent an email around to all my family members asking about the due baby. sophia grace was born october 17th at 5:15am, weighing in at a hefty 9 1/2 lbs.
xoxox dianne, you are so sweet. thanx dear.
thanks Dianne. Yeah, pain is a pita. But there are worse things. How are you?
Congrats Rose. Glad all is well with the baby.
gratz rose! On the new arrival, grin. Well done sister. Lovely names. And bully son.
ugh...read sister-in-law, married to MY brother. so son simon was able to answer without breaking any promises he may have had to make to eldest son.
eldest son should have his head examined. So childish and so mean. But welcome in this world, sophia grace. May your life be filled with wisdom and grace for real.
i was quite weepy due to the fact that sophia's daddy still seems to hate me so much that he cannot share the wonderful news of his first-borns arrival.
What do you ladies hear from Pug? I haven't seen her on Babble for ages.
pug doesn't have the time or energy to (as they say here) scratch her behind. Very busy with work and keeping up the property and helping her sister.
dianne, she is quite well. she is due to go in for some surgery soon. she is hoping that it will be a day-case only. her divorce is through.
she sometimes emails though. Her divorce is final now. She feels better than in ages.
Good to hear that she is o.k. She is having hernia surgery, right? Glad the divorce is final and that he is out of her life.
we don't see her here as she is now able to sleep better.
*hugs rose* I know, honey. That hurts. Even I informed my father that Tim was born.
Dianne, the guy had the utter nerve to tell her he wanted to come back! Am so glad Pug told him no way.
When you hear from Pug please pass along my regards and best wishes.
will do!
sprite - of course he wanted to come back - he knew he was losing a good thing.
indeed, Dianne. He actually said that 'he didn't like living where he did now'. No, go figure, lol.
Rose. of course Pug can sleep better - she got rid of her "sleep disorder".
am so intensely proud of her for taking this massive step towards a better life.
do you remember that shy, retiring person who couldn't do anything to disadvantage her husband? i, too, am proud of the way this woman has taken control of her life, and said NO!
oh man yes, do I remember. So fearful of him, and of offending God. And she turned around and said enough is enough, and God will understand breaking a vow that has been broken from the other side for ages.
exactly, Dianne, lol!
Well I think the encouragement and support that you both gave her made a big difference in her life.
I hope so, Dianne. But it is her courage and her willingness to change that made it possible for her.
awww shucks dianne...* scuffing dust with toe* it wasn't nothing. we saw what needed to be said...and the rest is history..
pugs just needed some support and help to clarify her thoughts.
don't we all sometimes, grin.
*smooch* sprite...you said it, hun
dianne, sprite and i plus a couple of other babblers, total of 5 in all, have found such support like you wouldn't believe. it has been the most incredible experience of my life.
the babble community is a special and strong one
Rose, that is wonderful. I know you both give a lot of support to Ruby who has a lot on her plate.
our ruby sure has. Wouldn't trade places with her for all the money in the world.
Knowing what you may have ahead of you is one thing but living through it is an entirely different thing.
oh yes. Some things you cannot imagine until you are living them
sprite...i realised today...i simply mu4 take the endone at the moment. i am trying to keep it to a minimum though. i took one this afternoon, and i am now buzzing around like a bee in a bottle....lol
dianne, how difficult would it be to get from singapore to kowloon?
hehehe well that is what they are there for, sweetie. I know you keep them to a minimum. And when your pain doctor is back, things will be different.
I think it is about a 3 hour or 3+ hour plane ride. Direct flights every day.
that's what i thought sprite.
Are you thinking of going to Singapore?
and not too much buzzing around, ya hear? That pain is there to tell you to take things easy... so numbing the pain does NOT mean you can go buzzing around.
hmmm, dianne. next year hubby and i are on our way to europe and the uk. i am planning a 2 day stay in singapore. thought i might drop in...lol
You will like Singapore. Be sure to go to the Raffle Hotel for a Singapore sling.
dianne, raffle's is on the top of my list. i simply mu2 stay in raffles and have a high tea there.
what is a singapore sling?
Well, you should "drop in" here and we can have high tea at the Penisula Hotel.
Sprite - a cocktail with grenadine, cherry brandy, sweet and sour mix and soda water ( I think).
And gin
dianne, looking forward to it...so many things to experience. *wriggles excitedly*
ah ok :) Thanks Dianne.
i am hoping all the other ingredients drown out the gin.
How long a trip are you planning
I was hoping the gin would balance out all the sweet, lol
dianne, we are planning 6-8 weeks. 10 days of which are to be in the netherlands...to meet guess who ??
me me me meeeee! (not excited about it, no)
6 to 8 weeks - wow that's some trip. The longest trip I was ever on was 30 days. Not counting home leave back to the states.
ROFLOLOL yeah right....sprite isn't excited...there is no sedative invented to keep our sprite calm in this situation.
so true, lol. Am already having so much fun planning those days
dianne...this will probably be our first and last trip over there. the next major trip will be to the americas and canada.
yeah home leave is different.
Other than the Netherlands where are you planning on going?
fireflies. Easy grid today.
dianne. fang, my SIL goes over to the UK every year. this year she went to france on the chunnel train, and came straight back to the UK...then had the audacity to say she has been to france...
WTG SPRITE!!!
fang is weird. To say the least. Dear friends, I am off to lie down for a bit. *hugs* and thanks for the lovely company.
That's like ma saying I've been to Dallas because I changed planes there once/
dianne, netherlands, france, spain, italy, england, wales, scotland and ireland.
{{hugs}} darling sprite. i hope your day is kind to you, hun.
Wow - I am turning green with envy. I've been to four of your places.
dianne, i realise my time overseas is limited. i mu4 see all i can.
Will you see Ruby?
Be back in a little bit
dianne, one of the reasons we are going to france.
* giggle * with our 2 day stop-over in singapore, and a visit to kowloon...that makes 9 countries....sort of.
time for dinner...brb
ugh...too much on plate...i am back..
buggie...where in france to do hail from??
ugh...buggie...where in france do you hail from??
hello, hello...anyone here??
Hi Rose. Good dinner?
nice to see you dianne. yes, but too much...roast beef and vegetables.
I'm making chicken parmesan and pasta. with an antipsata to start.
dianne, just where in europe and the uk have you been to?
oohhh...yummy...can i please come to your place for dinner?
Venice, Sienna, Florence, Rome, London, Paris, Amsterdam and a couple of places in Germany.
Flew on the Concorde once and took the Orient Express from Venice to Paris.
okay, dianne. well germany isn't on our itinerary. but i am trying to encourage a rhine cruise with himself...lol. oh i forgot...belgium...my grandfather's place of birth. apparently there is an unclaimed castle over there.
Who ha - an I conversing with royalty?
ummm...yes my dear...our family was part of the belgian royalty...not that you would know it from my branch of the family...lolol
our original surname is a double-barrel name.
o.k. I'm waiting.
somewhere in our dim past is an ambassador. who was a part of the royal family.
try this on for size.. de bouvry de mauregnault
but...if you look at me...i am sooo lower class...lolol
i am trying to research our family....
That's some handle. Can you clue the last ke word? I can't see it.
ke6, ke + double consonant + 2 vowels
Got it - thanks.
nice, dianne. well done
need to make the bed with clean linen...catch you in a few. xxxx

Did they give them all pencils and see which paw they used to pick it up :p
lol. I think they threw them a baseball and took note of which paw they caught it with;)
LOL
Whee...got the 8
They probably are artistic, too. 40% of artists are left-handed. Husband and I are both left-handed but have totally different kinds of brains
Stats please for the lower left corner E? Does it have to do with a female hormone?
Hi ruby!

ir 6/18 ir + not fake
ty
when I was in elementary school, they were very ean if you were left-handed. And my husband (much earlier, of course) was told hed never graduate high school
Yes, i heard that too. They used to discourage people from using their left hands. Had to do with the devil I think
when my wife was in school they still tried to "breal" you of your left-handedness. stupid when you think of it
break
and those teachers have all probably gone to the devil by now
It's OK...I read "crossy"
Hi all - I've found a word that's apparently not in the dictionary: DREY, which is a squirrel's home. Seems nowhere to point this out .... unless on member's forum somewhere?
the teachers usually gave up after the third grade or so
poor squuirrels
Unhomed because they're not in the dictionary!
Ode to the unhomed squirrel.. has a ring to it..
I tried drey, too. The other one they should accept is riad which is a middle eastern small castle
But you can't make riad in this grid....
eastern knights and squirrels, all unhomed;(
I know, but I always try it anyway (the definition of madness)
Got the ES 6/18 fom the lower left corner. NBT/NBS

Ack, should have seen that!

I work one Tuesday evening each month, from 5:30-8, but today the office ran out of appts by 9! So I was asked to help by coming in early.
I don't want to do it but I know it is the right thing to do. I would want a partner to help me out.
TY, Nancy.
Our clinic ran out of appts every day.
We were squeezing them in with a shoehorn.
The on-call doc must stay later to see sick kids so I am helping him today, and I get paid extra.
That helps.
80-90% of our sick visits are to alleviate maternal anxiety. The kids don't need to be there.
wow! Most of ours were well child and follow up visits.
That is pediatrics now--healthy kids with minor, self-limiting problems, but worried mommas.
right, we ahd those too.
They include the "what no antibiotics" moms.
Along with childbirth classes, parents need an Infants and Toddlers class with a whole section devoted to "when to call the doctor and when not to call the doctor"
Remember the good old Dr Spock book?

:D
Hello sammysom
i will say that if you have a problem and i had a PROBLEM,,,,,,,,,, cleveland clinic is the place of choice place to be .. any hospital that has it's own zip code has gotta have losts of folks around who know what they are doing
Walter 2 is a national treasure.
yes indeed molly.... he kept his father from going crazy while i was not here to aggravate him and maintained everything and we were on the phone several times a day
Cleveland Clinic is almost always rated in the top 5. You were lucky to be there.
and cc's big brother was watching out for me all the time
hi sammysmom! I missed what happened to you (had our own stuff going on) but I am glad you are back!
Is Frank home?

tell me that anyone knew the mu 5/16 6/27 combo without either a hint or a clue or some morewords help (like I used lol)! forget about knowing the definition!
If anyone did, I'd like to know why they are so familiar with the rutting season of elephants.

I'm still not sure what "attaining success by the random pushing of buttons" says about this game.

i am not either, molly, but there is no way i would have ever known that word...
Now I'm thinking about the computer in "War Games"
many years ago i saw a sort of horror movie about a computer that took over a building and killed people...
I don't know if Space Odyssey was the genesis of those kinds of movies, or if there was something that came before that. But there have been many stories/films about computers taking over
this was a very long time ago, but i don't know exactly when it was...
st 6/30 please and thank you its the first one
Mix up the next word a little ..
thank you, fish me lol
I think i am eating bbq all week

hello ruru and everyone
evening all
hello jesdraggon
how goes, eWillow?
snowed here today, not liking it at all and you?
could be worse, for sure. though the foster dog is driving me a bit nuts right now, pacing and whining
that would be distracting
hard to tell if she's just upset by the coyotes outside, or needs to go poo
coyotes!! that would make me want to go poo!
except i take her out and she is too nervous/distracted by them to actually do so
coyotes in your yard?
hill behind our house
argh. and pb for me already
too close for comfort still
eh. they're basically harmless
do they bother you when walkiing? or they don't usually seek out humans
not at all. i've never even seen one by the house or on the trails when i go riding, they are just loud.
like our wolves then, always hear them but never enter town
the worst bother is they are a threat to outdoor cats (but my cats are indoor for that, among other dangers)
clue for the KE 6/30 please - and thank you
must be a headache always having to be aware of them and keeping your pets safe
not really, like I said they are basically harmless. I would keep the cats inside anyway for a variety of dangers.
ok, just part of your day then
haven't got it, sorry Jindigo
up until I got a foster dog that's upset by them, yeah :P
thanks Jes - i still have 6 more to find and might be giving up.
ke + double cons. + 2 vowels
just started - have 81 left :)
thanks, torg
tor - are you sure?
yes, use the other double consonants.
ugh - it's getting late. Thank you. I can't go to bed with only a few left.
is the RE 6 a compound word?
any clues for the U word or the I word for top row I?
ty
yes it is - i just answered my own questions
US + the *** a federal agency that funds artistic excellence
dont know artistic excellence agency. sorry
IR + RE 4/4

ty got ir word. never saw it before. ty.

i got the us word. ty. just guessing. ty for clue.

I still don't get it, ru. :P aaand, hi!
ka and a borrower
Well, she said "ka + gives to a borrower".
But she didn't really mean "gives"... she meant to loan. ;)
And that's more of a clue than I should have given you, probably... sorry. But you need to get that fast!
"loans", that is.
3 minutes left! Hurry.
i'm finished.. I am just pulling kje's leg
ohh I see. :P
i finished last night. I like to be a jerk
She'll be walking lopsided now.
One leg longer than the other because you have stretched it out.
