4:50 am

{{rosie}} {{crossy}}

4:50 am

Without 8 hours, I'm useless, but I can often make up the hour with a nap if you-know-who doesn't disturb me

4:52 am

5:14 am

5:15 am

of course, your finance appointment and its outcome.

5:15 am

am worried sick. No family to fall back on. Desperation allover.

5:16 am

that's enough to make anyone sleepless.

5:17 am

5:18 am

aww sweetie. i am trying to work out how i can help you. i wish you would let me.

5:18 am

pretty hateful, I think. And disappointing considering the source

I have not looked at my ranking for ages now.Wonder how many points I have..lol

5:42 am

My ranking is in the 500s :)

5:43 am

Just looked I have just over 2.8 million points..lol

5:44 am

Would like a £1 for every point..lol

5:45 am

5:45 am

5:45 am

Hello, Crossy :-)

5:46 am

YaY found the 9 already!

5:46 am

5:47 am

ah well, crossy, mayhap we are using different search engines. no biggie, mate.

5:49 am

ty sprite;) I have never used that feature in rankings before

5:50 am

Sounds like something is going down. Has something happened..saying that perhaps it is best I do not know..lol

5:51 am

best just to pour yourself a nice cuppa, zooz and happily babble away

5:51 am

5:55 am

Hello babblers :)

5:55 am

howdy biltong

5:55 am

Good day Babblers.

5:56 am

And back with a fresh cup of tea.

5:56 am

Hello, Biltong & Scrabs :-)

5:56 am

What rant?

5:56 am

I intend too, Sprite :-)

5:57 am

Ruru, trouble sleeping again?

5:57 am

Hey, entered a contest online and won a Leonard Cohen lithograph and his new album :) It's in the mail :)

5:57 am

Hello, Ruru :-)

5:57 am

Yay for winning a prize!

5:57 am

Yeah unfortunately

5:57 am

Wow nice one, Sukee!

5:57 am

Hi zooz

5:57 am

I'd forgotten I entered.

5:57 am

very nice sukee!

5:58 am

I have many Lenoard Cohen albums!

5:58 am

Well done, sukee

5:58 am

Crossy, is Firefox working for you? It keeps crashing this morning. Or do you use Chrome?

5:58 am

L Cohen rocks!

5:58 am

I actually bought the new one on iTunes. I guess someone is getting one for Christmas :)

5:58 am

Oh your icon is a bit scary, Ruru!

5:58 am

I use chrome,scrabby

5:59 am

My firefox is working fine over here, Scrabs.

5:59 am

Scary clowns :)

5:59 am

What rant are you talking about crossy?

5:59 am

Thanks, Zooz.

5:59 am

I gave up on Firefox when it kept crashing on me. No problems with Chrome.

5:59 am

not important ruru.

5:59 am

Well sukee it is almost halloween

5:59 am

It's a new problem, Sukee, just now.

6:00 am

Ok cr

6:00 am

tempests in teapots is all

6:00 am

Oh

6:00 am

$200, 000, 000 loss with that rocket blow-up after launch.

6:01 am

. I am just curious.

6:01 am

what rocket blew up?

6:01 am

Yes I saw that on the news this morning, Scrabs!

6:01 am

Sad, not to mention the one they had to scrub because a sailboat was in the way.

6:01 am

Might have been the same rocket.

6:02 am

Unmanned rocket was launched. Florida, I think?

6:02 am

guess I should check the news once in a while lol

it was in virginia

6:02 am

Nope, Virginia coast, going to ISS.

6:02 am

one of ths SpaceX ones?

6:02 am

They warned sailboats to stay away and someone didn't get the memo.

no the other company - orbit something

6:03 am

ahh.. thing was flying awful low for a sailboat to be a hazard lol

6:03 am

NASA rocket, was carrying supplies to ISS. Blew up 6 seconds after launch.

6:04 am

there is an expensive boo-boo

6:04 am

and we think we have bad days..

6:04 am

Supposedly they have to clear the area just in case something falls on the water.

6:05 am

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/

6:05 am

There is a video of it , Crossy if you want to see it.

6:05 am

ty,zooz

6:06 am

What is $ 200 million to nasa.. nothong really. A total waste of yax dollars

6:06 am

Well, they do have to get supplies to the ISS :)

6:06 am

A lot of Americans could get health care and food with that money.

6:07 am

good thing they are contracting more of this stuff out

6:07 am

Whew, I am not finding much this morning.

6:08 am

space will be a good investment in the long run. Mankind will have a place to go once this planet is an uninhabitable toxic waste dump

6:08 am

I get so angry that our military and nasa just piss away so much money

6:08 am

Yes, Ruru.

6:09 am

Would rather the money go to NASA than the military.

6:09 am

agreed sukee

6:09 am

here, here sukee

6:09 am

we all have to stop fighting first

6:09 am

Yeah, that'll happen :)

6:11 am

Someone tell me how the world was helped by studyiny weightless sex activities of geckos. How much did that cost. Where are our priorities in this country

6:12 am

How it might work for humans who have to live in space?

6:12 am

Anyway, have to go and get ready to go to the gym.

6:12 am

Nasa's budget should be greatly reduced

6:13 am

Enjoy, Sukee.

6:13 am

there are SOME benefits, ruru. We learned how to make frictionless ball-bearings. Medical advances have been made and of course let's not forget the invent of Duct Tape which was a result of a need in space. cannot mark it all as a total waste

6:14 am

ruru, the geckos were on loan from Geiko; they got paid well for their time in the air.

6:14 am

Teflon

6:15 am

We need balance--health care for all Americans is essential.

6:15 am

What nedical advances crossy?

6:15 am

scratch resistant lenses are from NASA as well

6:15 am

the ear thermometer

6:16 am

smike detectors

6:16 am

all from NASA

6:16 am

smoke

6:16 am

cordless tools..

6:16 am

water filters

6:16 am

just search the web:)

6:17 am

BRB, must get yogurt for breakfast.

6:17 am

I give up

6:17 am

a big one is CAT scanners ruru

6:17 am

Hello all!

6:17 am

that counts:)

6:18 am

howdy car

6:19 am

looked some up: memory foam (originally named temper foam), freeze-dried food, firefighting equipment, emergency "space blankets", Dustbusters, cochlear implants, and now Speedo's LZR Racer swimsuits. NASA claims that there are over 1650 other spin-offs in the fields of computer technology, environment and agriculture, health and medicine, public safety, transportation, recreation, and industrial productivity. Contrary to common belief, NASA did not invent Tang, Velcro, or Teflon. (and all along I thought ....) The biggest I know of was a surgical procedure on I think the carotid artery that was adapted to prevent TIAs (those baby strokes).

6:19 am

Give up yet?

6:19 am

http://tinyurl.com/knq737m

6:19 am

ugh@Tang.. that would count against it:)

6:20 am

CAT scan equipment was first used in the space program to identify defective parts

6:21 am

ugh indeed

6:21 am

Hi Car

6:21 am

I have used the services of that machine many times:)

6:22 am

All of that jwr does not justify the senseless waste of money that is so greatly needed elsewhere in our country

6:22 am

Hello, Car :-)

6:22 am

{{{scrabs}}}} you have been on my mind and in my heart.

6:22 am

Hello Zooz

6:22 am

I will have to agree to disagree with you then ruru. To many vital things were created as a direct result of the space program

6:22 am

I love spelling your name zooz!!!!

6:23 am

actually it does, if you count it up. Besides, you haven't considered all the advantages of firing the imagination.

6:23 am

I miss my boy. I buried him last evening, just before dark. He and I shared a bedroom so his absence is painful.

6:23 am

Aww thanks, ((Car))

6:23 am

Oh I am so sorry

6:23 am

((scrabby)) sorry for your loss:((

6:24 am

{{hugs}} scrabs. nothing harder to bear than the loss of a true friend.

6:25 am

He was an elderbun--would have been 10 in December. But he was not acting ill. I found him dead which was quite a jolt.

6:25 am

(((scrabbs) so hear to hear about bunny Tucker.

6:26 am

I meant "so sorry"

6:26 am

Up til 3-4 years ago he jumped up in bed with me. He was almost 9 lbs---a big boy.

6:26 am

Hello, Annie :-)

6:26 am

Hi zoozoom :)

6:26 am

6:27 am

hiya, car, this grid is kicking my behind. Scrabs he musta been tired and didn't want to stress you out with being old.

6:27 am

Even more sad when you are not expecting it, ((Scrabs))

6:27 am

He died on his terms. I hate making the decision about euthanasia.

6:27 am

hi Rose, annie, sprite, jwr, et.al

6:28 am

6:28 am

g'day annie, lbd.

6:28 am

hi annie, and car. and dawg and ru and whoever I may have missed

6:28 am

agree with zooz - As you say Scrabs, having to watch him through a long illness and having to decide when to end the suffering is a hard thing to bear.

6:29 am

it hurts so much to lose a dear pet

6:29 am

Hi rose, dawg, jwr, sprite, etal

6:43 am

awright, better get out of here before I start offering bets. -- If you know the game, you know it really is a close matchup. I am a fan; not a fanatic. And I like to see the city happy. But after all, it would be 3 in five years -- make local folks too full of themselves.

6:43 am

Oh! TY crossy. Is the mud pit also ready?

7:47 am

Hey, Sprite, just thought I'd tell you that I've just met Darian.

7:48 am

omg, that is the last 3 books! Wonderful. Did you have a fun journey?

7:50 am

Not the last books! After the Mage storms. Yes, enjoying them a lot tho in places found Mage storms a bit slow. Still loved them though.

7:52 am

yeah I hear you. I found that when I was rereading the series, they were better for me. And Darian... that is the Owl series, I think? I think they end the cycle. Though there is a sidewards offspin that tells about the origin of the Herald Collegium.

7:54 am

Think I'm reading them in historical order of Valdemar. I've read the arrows, winds and storms. Now starting the owls.

7:54 am

Gryphons seem to be next.

7:55 am

yeah, that should be right. And if you are still feeling like it, you will go the the very beginning after that. To the gryphons, yes. Delightful.

7:56 am

Looking forward to all the books. Thanks again for them. Enjoy your day and I'll head back to the owls. Hugs

7:56 am

enjoy, Liz. And *hugs* for you both

10:02 am

By the way I think there are some wonderful carved pumpkins I have seen on the internet.

10:02 am

time to go list.

10:02 am

And I can imagine there are a lot of injures doing the carving also!

10:02 am

Injuries*

10:03 am

My clan did those intricately carved pumpkins one year. Took them hours to do though

10:03 am

I have also had to list, mixi, at 70 to go

10:03 am

I'm all about triangle eyes and jaggedy mouths

10:03 am

hahaha yes that is about my limit on carving :-)

10:04 am

I think it's a fun, festive thing to do, but I'm not into spending half a day carving a pumpkin.

10:07 am

The chidren are not silly round here. They knock on your door..get sweets...go away and change into different costumes...come back and knock on your door...end result twice as much sweets and money from the same house.

10:07 am

Wow, that is some serious trick-or-treating

10:09 am

yes, I have 73 to go.

10:16 am

th7/32, please?

10:16 am

th + c**** firth, the actor + consonant...

10:48 am

actually yes it is a compound word.

10:48 am

???

10:49 am

well, both are in the grid.

10:49 am

Yes, but as used in the 9, that is a suffix

10:50 am

true.

10:50 am

molly as in the ing?

10:52 am

All these Halloween icons inspired me. Checking to see if my icon really did change.

10:52 am

Darn.

10:52 am

no crayola sure didnt

10:52 am

my icon is not Halloween related

10:52 am

it did, just hit F5 to reload the page

10:52 am

can someone clue the 9?

10:53 am

hi buggie

10:53 am

hi hi :-)

10:54 am

and sorry but I don't have that one yet

10:55 am

np buggie

10:55 am

someone said it ends in a suffix

10:55 am

GOT IT

10:55 am

Thanks Buggie.

10:56 am

still dont see it crayola

10:56 am

buggie need a clue?

10:57 am

takes a while before your browser loads the new version of the icon, so you have to hit F5 if you want to see it (to force it to reload now)

10:57 am

not yet thanks, still making my first pass

10:57 am

i just refreshed my page once when i changed it to theicon i have now if you can see it?

10:57 am

lol

10:58 am

I see christmas bread/ring?

10:58 am

yup, I can see the current icon

10:58 am

its a pastry called a Kringle

11:02 am

That's funny, I just tried to describe candy corn (which we called chicken corn) to my husbandabout 10 minutes ago. He had never heard of it!

11:03 am

How did he manage to grow up in the US and never hear of candy corn?

11:03 am

he has never heard of candy corn or chicken corn?

11:03 am

I've heard of candy corn on american shows but have no idea what it actually is

11:03 am

It's like solid corn syrup. I find it very gross.

11:04 am

buggie i dont knwo what it is exactly other then a 3 toned colored candy shaped like a triangle kinda sweet

11:04 am

He lived outside t. Louis 'til he was 12, but he didn't have a normal childhood (no sh**!)

11:04 am

Molly i dont like candy corn either yuck

11:05 am

Well Ruby, I could have guessed that part. : D

11:05 am

why would anyone want to eat a sweet that looks like corn? very odd

11:05 am

but then every country has its oddities

11:06 am

Since I grew up in a candy store, I'm a connoisseur of American candy!

11:06 am

its actually triangular in shape like popcorn as opposed to corn that grows on a cob

11:06 am

lol ruby

11:06 am

<--would kill for a 3 musketeers

11:07 am

Like Shrimp & Bananas Buggie?

11:07 am

Ew Molly, where is that from?

11:08 am

i dont think i want to know

11:08 am

Um...the UK

11:08 am

I've never heard of it before

11:08 am

Halloween is very funny here. I put ghosts up in the windows and put candles outside but very few children come to the gate. And then they're surprised that I have candy for them. They are very polite and say "Merci, Madame"

11:08 am

Oh wait those things, I haven't seen them since I was little

11:09 am

in NY my father once greeted trick or treaters with a stocking over his face and the kids ran away, terrified

11:10 am

Ruby, I don't know how you have survived there this long.

11:10 am

I truly love this place, Molly, both for its beauty and for the people

11:10 am

If I remember right, the bananas taste of bananas, but the shrimps don't taste of shrimps, can't remember what they taste of... I will admit to liking Marmite though :-)

11:11 am

<-- never tasted marmite

11:11 am

Thank God people don't give out marmite for Halloween

11:12 am

Well Halloween is a very recent import over here, most people see it as just acting out what they see on TV, or an excuse for a silly party, there's no real cultural reference to it so most people see it as just a fad

11:12 am

on little pieces of toast -- then they'd really get scared

11:13 am

the French don't like Marmite any more than the Americans :-)

11:13 am

Halloween all goes back to the Celtic Pagans, my people

11:13 am

What is lovely here is that, for the same holiday, families come and decorate the graves in the local cemetery with all kinds of chrysanthemums. It's gorgeous

11:14 am

In some areas or another name for is All Hollow's Eve

11:14 am

and it's followed by All Saints' Day

11:14 am

100 words down and 125 to go;)

11:14 am

i believe you might be right ruby

11:14 am

But our local church is closed as nobody goes to mass, anyway

11:15 am

Oh, the origins do go way back, in fact you can still find famalies in the celtic areas of UK and France that have kept the old traditions alive. But modern Halloween is definitely an import

11:15 am

Remembrance of the dead is all a part of the original Halloween festivals

11:16 am

(btw for those confused I'm an English expat, but been in France since I was 10)

11:16 am

Traditionally you are supposed to make costumes not buy them

11:17 am

Most modern holiday stuff is a "remodeling" of the origins.

11:17 am

I used to make costumes for my son; maybe that's why he's still mad at me....(get over it, John)

11:18 am

very true or we have our own traditions

11:18 am

lol ruby.how old is he?

11:18 am

I always made my kids costumes. I hate the store bought ones.

11:18 am

11:19 am

i had both over the years

11:19 am

see you kids after dinner

11:20 am

11:47 am

11:47 am

hi mlf

11:47 am

i see your usual one

11:48 am

I will most likely see it once I log out and clean my temp files and cookies

11:48 am

the pic is of my youngest grandkids last year.

11:48 am

cyber those costumes are adorable

11:48 am

i just refreshed m y page and can now see the photo

11:49 am

ahh, there we go, now I see it

11:50 am

their mother wanted to dress them up as Mary and her little lambs this year, but our grandson declared that he was not going to be a lamb like his twin sister - he wanted to be a dragon.

11:50 am

i have na 4 ending in a s what does the other one end with please?

11:51 am

i like your grandson's costume idea better sorry

11:51 am

never mind i found it

11:51 am

na 4/4 babblet and na 4/6

11:53 am

I was amused that at age 2 he would have such a strong opinion

11:53 am

kinda scary huh cyber?

11:56 am

cyber when my one niece was two we were talking on the phone about random things. I spoke to her like i would an adult and she responded perfectly to everything i said

11:56 am

usually he's pretty laid back so it was surprising

11:57 am

Little boys usually don't want to be something girly like a lamb

11:57 am

soem kids just know what they want and nothing else will do. Its neat how he wants to be an individual from his sister.

11:59 am

yes - although because they are not the same sex, there has never been a problem with them being clones of each other

11:59 am

Also, I think the whole point of Halloween is letting kids dress up as what they want to be, not what Mom wants them to be.

12:00 pm

that is interesting cyber but that probably wont last too long

12:00 pm

Molly that is the way it should be i know i always did

12:01 pm

TO7?

12:01 pm

I think Jules has always been his own person -- he just has a much calmer personality than his sisters

12:05 pm

cyber reverse the last wo letters of the other el 7

12:07 pm

12:07 pm

its always strange what babble takes and what it doesnt

12:07 pm

12:08 pm

cyber do you have TO7?

to7 - without 'finger' of leg

12:08 pm

12:20 pm

12:21 pm

plural of ja6....a bunch of keys do this

there are 2 ja7 -- one rhymes with hand ornament

12:22 pm

ge 5: french jelly

kallia's clue is better

12:22 pm

Howdy, neighbors!

12:22 pm

12:23 pm

12:23 pm

hi kallia

12:23 pm

12:23 pm

12:23 pm

I'd like that one too

ja7 - without ja4 (singular)

12:24 pm

12:24 pm

12:24 pm

12:24 pm

thank you kalia

Stupid computer. Back after downloading some software. Slower than molasses in January - as my mother used to say.

1:19 pm

Hi Judi

1:19 pm

How did the shot in the back go?

1:21 pm

Hi, Hego. Lotsa pain after the shot. No sleep last night. Better today, still twingy.

1:22 pm

feel better!

1:22 pm

Thanks. I'm working on it. :-)

1:22 pm

:)

1:28 pm

Why is it that you can score great narcotics on the street, but doctors will not prescribe them for legitimate pain issues?

1:29 pm

I have some narcotics. I just don't like to take them too often.

1:29 pm

Molly, I been overprescibed pain meds to the point where I've been flushing percosets.

1:30 pm

Judi, me too.

1:30 pm

Eek!

1:30 pm

And I still have a bunch.

1:30 pm

I know.

1:30 pm

You can mail them to me, hego!

1:30 pm

One Dr gave me 90!!

1:31 pm

Supposedly, you are not supposed to flush them. They might end up back in the drinking water supply.

1:31 pm

That is what I thought, Judi

1:31 pm

We will have a happy town.

1:31 pm

No, that is correct.

1:32 pm

I was amazed after my mother died, the hospice nurse flushed all her meds in the toilet.

1:32 pm

I didn't literaaly flush mine.

1:32 pm

Your pharmacist can dispose of them properly for you

1:33 pm

Cops and pharmacies around us sponsor drug give-backs so they can be incinerated. The addicts all stand around and weep.

1:35 pm

When my boss was sick, the doctor kept changing up his pain meds. His wife learned some very creative (and safe) ways of disposing of the unused pills.

1:35 pm

what did she do?

1:36 pm

We had a surprisingly hard time of disposing of my father-in-laws emergency palliative care drug kit when he passed. it had everything in it--was first time I have ever beheld morphine ampules outside of a hospital setting.. was sad to see them go..;)

1:36 pm

lol Crossy.

1:37 pm

One method is to mix them up with something gross, like kitty litter, put them in a plastic bag and put them in the trash.

1:38 pm

It's ridiculous to see all of that good medicine go to waste when you know there are folks out there who truly need it.

1:38 pm

Remind me to stop snorting kitty litter.

1:38 pm

You can't donate or reuse them.

1:39 pm

I just miix mine with vinegar and toss them.

1:39 pm

Not to mention the cost of said drugs

1:39 pm

Ah. Good idea. hego. No weird chem reactions like bubbling?

1:40 pm

a little maybe.

1:40 pm

I just give all our old meds to the pharmacy now... less hassle that way

1:40 pm

Cool! Science experiment!

1:41 pm

Yes. Most pharmacies will take them back for disposal.

1:41 pm

good idea Crossy

1:41 pm

Oxycontin and malt vinegar! Put that on yer fish and chips!!

1:41 pm

I will have to get rid of the 90 soon.

1:42 pm

LOL, Crossy!

1:43 pm

I have slowed to a crawl here.

1:43 pm

Once you get past the bitterness, everything will be jusssssst greaaaaat.

1:43 pm

I have some dated migraine meds on hand now. Doc gave us 4 free sample packs. it is the kind you have to take when you THINK you are getting a migraine and was not much used for my beloved. Even if they had been the cost per pill was $35!!! no thank you!

1:44 pm

OUCH!!!

1:44 pm

It is obscene what they charge for medication these days

1:44 pm

so, in a sense, I am gald they did not work

1:44 pm

she is so cute, Crossy.

1:45 pm

:)

1:45 pm

My neighbor says "Well, I only have a 20 dollar co-pay". To which I reply "What do you think that 300 dollar a month health insurance premium is paying for?"

1:46 pm

Only 300 dollars a month?

1:46 pm

we just get rid of the middle-man and pay through the nose at tax time...at least it beats worrying about it at a health crisis time.

1:47 pm

Well, 300 was a low ball figure. I know people pay much more than that.

1:47 pm

Does your health insurance screw you over for having pre-existing cancer, Crossy?

1:47 pm

insane

1:48 pm

no, judy. Our health care do not work the way in which you are familliar with

1:48 pm

Ah.

1:48 pm

we have "universal health care" operated by the government, not insurance companies

1:49 pm

we just pay more taxes for everything to cover it

1:49 pm

though you can add on top with blue cross and the like for special things

1:50 pm

That's right.

1:50 pm

What do the 8s and the 9 start with? Anyone? ANyone?

1:50 pm

ey 8, 9

1:50 pm

I will never be screwed over for my previous cancers...ever

1:51 pm

sorry, 7, 8

1:51 pm

ea 9

1:51 pm

as it should be:)

1:52 pm

Good Afternoon, Everyone. Sorry, Judi, I don't have the 8's or the 9; just getting started here. I just wanted to say that when Clinton tried to get "universal health care" here in the US, politicians and insurance companies raged against it

1:52 pm

agree Crossy

1:52 pm

I am sure they did. The insurance companies there had visions of the golden goose leaving the nest

1:52 pm

Nef, I remember.

1:54 pm

Ty. Gottem all!

1:54 pm

you're a whiz, Judi

1:54 pm

What is the other 8?

1:54 pm

We just decided that EVERYONE will need healthcare. the availability of it should not be the sole provenance of only those who can pay big premiums.

1:55 pm

thanks hego for the stats

1:55 pm

I like the thought of privatising health insurance. Free market competition would drive down prices.

1:55 pm

yw

1:55 pm

Feeling special today as I am in the grid.

1:56 pm

straightens tiara

1:56 pm

It's been privatized all along, Judi. That's the problem; and the prices kept going up with less coverage for smaller groups

1:56 pm

You are frequently in the grid, hego.

1:56 pm

Someone who has lived on the street for the last ten years will get the exact same care as i do in any hospital in onatario.. no complex forms, just your health card

1:56 pm

You go, hego! ;-)

1:56 pm

Ontario

1:56 pm

true Judi

1:57 pm

:)

1:57 pm

If you had better weather, Crossy, I'd move up there. lol

1:58 pm

lol, getting ready for the snow:)

1:58 pm

It is not realy privatized in the true capitalist sence, Nef. For example, I have Highmark (f/k/a Blue Cross) in Delaware. I cannot select to seek treatment in Pennsylvania unless it is unavailable in Delaware. Even then, I would have to jump through ins. co. beaurocratic hoops.

1:58 pm

got my flu shot today:) so bring it on!

1:58 pm

I have seriously considered it, no fooling.

1:59 pm

One of the reasons our health care has been tied to the workplace is that initially no one would buy health insurance. Then some insurance company brain took a look at teachers and thought "Hey! Here's a group pf women without husbands (back then you couldn't teach after marriage) who need some sort of care! Let's offer them insurance for 25 cents a month through their association and we'll make money on it!"

1:59 pm

Crossy, you should always get your flu shot.

1:59 pm

I have the last 15 years,hego

2:00 pm

good

2:00 pm

I don't dare miss it these days

2:00 pm

DH and I goe ours yesterday; usually we get it the end of Sept. but it's been kind of crazy here

2:01 pm

ours are almost never ready till mid-late october eary november

2:01 pm

And, I can't currently shop around for the best rates for insurance. My health ins. is provided through my employer. It's a system that seems to work pretty well. Group savings is passed on to everyone.

2:02 pm

Thanks for the reminder to get a flu shot. Keep forgetting. One needle at a time.

2:03 pm

Local drug store offers to stab me every time I'm in there. Vampires!

2:03 pm

time to get it Judi.

2:03 pm

but never forget to see what is covered compared to the previous years. That can be the shocker, Judi

2:03 pm

I am glad we no longer relay on that either. lose your job, lose your coverage:( I am covered working or not working. when you workk you pay for it with the rest of the sheep, when you are not you are still cared for.

2:03 pm

Nef, it's le4 and le4 for more and more money.

2:03 pm

darn typos

2:05 pm

yep, hego, I know. :-(

2:05 pm

"though they are debating a small co-pay to stop the emerg rooms getting filled with stuffy noses

2:05 pm

Yes. I know, Nef. Co-pays may go up. Usually, tho, the cost of services goes up but the insurance company pay schedules don't change. So, the insured ends up having to pay more out-of-pocket.

2:05 pm

Crossy's keyboard ahs a mind of it's own.. :)

2:05 pm

it always has, hego

2:06 pm

mine too!!

2:07 pm

Phhth. Plus, we have a huge amount of illegal aliens that our President now wants to hand green cards too. They all will get free health care. Watch out for massive cost increases then.

2:09 pm

Judi, could you please show me where that information came from? I haven't heard of that

2:09 pm

Wind whipping up. Must be a storm moving in. Gotta go shut windows.

2:10 pm

Brrrr! It's too cold here for open windows!

2:10 pm

2:10 pm

2:10 pm

Conservative talk radio, Nef. Listen to Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, etc. etc. From the mouths of govt. insiders. Green cards being printed by the millions as we speak.

2:10 pm

46F here atm

2:12 pm

Judi I would stick a grain of salt with that.

2:12 pm

biab

2:14 pm

Judi, I really don't trust Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck. They have both got the "Liar, Liar, pants-on-fire" title from Politifact.com

2:14 pm

it's just 40 (F) here this afternoon

2:15 pm

We'll see what happens after the mid-term elections.

2:15 pm

I can see why people don't trust Limbaugh or Beck. I don't get why they trust a President who lies continually though.

I try to read all sides of the political spectrum and sometimes it's mind-boggling to do that. It has definitely made it extremely difficult to want to belong to any political party these days; sometimes it seems there is nothing to be proud of.

2:22 pm

(That's the end of my political mind here)

2:23 pm

and a good point Nef.

2:23 pm

That is why I'm registered Independent Nef.

2:24 pm

I am too this time around, Molly. It's very sad to me to make thatdecision

2:27 pm

hego, it's a good thing you found your to 6/21; II've been looking and coming up with everything wrong (& I find I can't count letters well either! :-D

2:27 pm

do you need it?

2:29 pm

no, you clued the stats, now that I'm looking for a to 6, I'll find it! :-)

2:29 pm

okay

2:37 pm

I give up, may I have a clue now hego?

2:38 pm

small child + female pronoun

2:39 pm

I was just typing that it will probably be really easy too! Thank you! (I'm pounding my head against the wall now, hoping to see better!)

2:48 pm

2:48 pm

2:50 pm

Back, Well, she has food and her litter is okay; she doesn't want a snack or catnip; I guess she wanted some brushing (but only 3 or 4 strokes!)

2:51 pm

Hi nef!

2:51 pm

hi Jilly and flosey; LONG time no see!

2:51 pm

:D

2:52 pm

how are you 2 doing these days?

2:52 pm

Hi Nef, doing great here thanks

2:53 pm

Good to hear, flossy.

2:53 pm

3 people gone from surgery dept, one is a unfilled position, one on vacation, one out on leave....I am tired!

2:53 pm

You both know what that's like!

2:54 pm

(((Jilly))) you aren't working overtime, are you?

2:54 pm

Just short of it! Actually getting call pay on Fridays to be oncall for PACU

2:54 pm

hope that position is filled soon, Jill

2:55 pm

Not looking good flosey. Can only hope!

2:55 pm

oh fun… maybe.Fridays can be tricky where I worked

2:55 pm

No one seems to want to work M-F part time

2:56 pm

Hey Jill, I have a question for you. Is your hospital affiliated with the Rocky Mountain Labs?

2:56 pm

I can appreciate that Jill, when I worked half time, it was 2 full days and a half

2:57 pm

Wow, people WANT to work weekends?

2:58 pm

No, I used to run a private duty department that covered RML needs and the Glaxobu\ Smith Cline operation here. But when RML went level 4 6 or 7 years ago, they run their own.

2:58 pm

Glaxo Smith Cline

2:58 pm

That's good news for you I bet!

2:58 pm

That's why there are Ebola beds in Missoula, to cover RML as they are working on Ebola here

2:59 pm

Actually, I enjoyed that job... easy peasy, lots of people contact and I learned a lot being around them

2:59 pm

The beds are in Missoula? That seems odd to me...

3:00 pm

whoo hoo.. got the 9!

3:00 pm

Which hospital?

3:00 pm

It's only 45 minutes from here now. Our hospital evidently didn't want to put the $$ in to create the rooms.

3:00 pm

St Patrick's

3:02 pm

I'd read a sight that said that there were only 5 or 6 hospitals that were set up for Ebola patients in the US and it listed RML as one of them….

3:02 pm

Good! (I think St. Pat'shas a better rep)

3:04 pm

slightly off....it is for them, but not on sight

3:05 pm

I read up on the history of RML; it's quite interesting to me how the site was chosen, etc.! :-)

3:05 pm

(I was curious how such a relatively small town got such a prestigious research facility)

3:06 pm

Used to be the thought here that there weren't ticks on the west side of the river. Original RML builiding was in old school house, now that's our local theatre building.

3:07 pm

Just blind unluck I guess with spotted tick fever. I have a lot of friends that are scientists there. Been good for our town

3:07 pm

So they preserved the original building? Nice!

3:07 pm

Want another little tidbit?

3:07 pm

yes!

3:10 pm

Glaxo Smith Cline purchased our little pharmacuetical company. It was producing an antigent that makes vaccines work better. Their original thought was they'd buy it, then have the agent, move it's production over to europe, then close this branch. LOL, don't know why, but they were unable to replicate the agent anywhere but here. So now they have built a huge new building here.

3:11 pm

So between RML and GSC, we have 1000+ people employed!

3:11 pm

Wow! That's really interesting!

3:12 pm

I know...that's why I was fortunate to have that program.

3:12 pm

My friend (also a nurse) has a brother who was a doctor and worked in research for SKG; but he worked out on the East coast all of the time

3:12 pm

Pretty good for this little town!

3:13 pm

I was sorely tempted to get my certification in CM and take a job at one of those two places. Would have been a good move...Oh well

3:13 pm

it's excellent for your town! Now I understand why a house you once posted about being for sale cost so much! :-D

3:14 pm

what is CM?

3:14 pm

Case Managment or could have done Industrial health

3:15 pm

Oh! Sounds interesting

3:16 pm

But in the end, I truly love hands on nursing, patient care and nursing skills like IV's....guess I must be where God wants me to be...

3:17 pm

yes. I found that things always go better when *I* don't always get what *I* want; sometimes God's plans are better.

3:17 pm

Whew! Finally NBT/NBS

3:18 pm

The real downside was that when an employee of GSK, you get their meds at cost...LOL

3:20 pm

now that would be nice. I'm trying to get medicare part D now (no one told me that I'd be penalized forever for not signing up for it at the start) because 2 different meds of mine have such huge co-pays and the prices fluctuate every month!

3:21 pm

I don't know about you, but I think resident evil are drug companies and insurance companies!

3:21 pm

1 med I take cost me almost $3.00/pill this month, 3 months ago it was $2.00/pill

3:21 pm

YUP! (my meds are generic too!)

3:22 pm

I am not on drops for dry eyes because they are $250/month. Already paying $800+ per month for health insurance and it only covers generic

3:23 pm

One of hubby's meds is $300 per month, and not covered since it is not generic.

3:24 pm

yeah, I hear you there. my DH's 1 med is over $1200/per month; luckily he had his doc get it reduced through the drug company

3:25 pm

Jilly, write to the drug company (or have your doc call if you can) to get those prices reduced. You shouldn't be going without eye drops (& I know you know that too)

3:25 pm

brb

3:25 pm

No luck, already tried...

3:25 pm

me too, need to put my drops in and give eyes a rest

3:28 pm

(((Jilly))) Dh went for a walk; I though he want down to the nearest street, but No;he went to the other end (his full walk will be nearly 1/4 mile now

3:39 pm

And, actually, the drops don't work for everyone anyway....OTC drops if used regularily do...

3:40 pm

Gosh, hope he's going to make it!

4:01 pm

I walked up and met him and walked back. He has spasticity in his legs, and he thought he could walk it off. He actually walked up to the far corner, then turned and went to the next corner (which is a much shorter block so when I went to look to see where he was; I saw his legs were weak. He uses a cane, and is stubborn

4:02 pm

KNow all about that stubborness!

4:03 pm

There is a slight hill up to the end of our block, so he's worn out

4:03 pm

(Maybe he'll behave tonight!)

4:04 pm

hopefully! (((nef and dh)))

4:05 pm

How's your better half doing these days?

4:07 pm

uh-oh. Grandson is home; he wants to do "science experiences" now!

4:07 pm

It's wearing me out to keep tabs on him paying our bills...we ended up $400 overdrawn two weeks ago. Some concern over his driving plus he is not pulling his weight at home...

4:07 pm

See you later nef!!

4:08 pm

it does weigh you out with stuff like that. Been there, done that with mine.

4:09 pm

Yup! that's why you're so dear to me...you understand

4:09 pm

My DH has now figured out himself that he can't drive outside a well defined (by highways & freeways) area because he gets lost.

4:10 pm

With mine, he has some memory loss on where to go, but so far, only in Missoula and not home.

4:10 pm

ANd we have devised a system of doing bills where we write down the bills for the month *together* and the game is to try to have enough money to do something special at the end of the month. Sometimes it actually works! :-)

4:11 pm

(Grandson is getting his Science testing stuff together; I have about 2 minutes left!)

4:12 pm

I need to hone down our spending; I have a spreadsheet he checks off, the OD was due to him thinking I had a paycheck coming in. But it was also due to him missing our cellphone bill; he said it hadn't come...sigh

4:12 pm

Have fun with that nef!

4:13 pm

We live in an inner suburb of MPLS/St. Paul; he's gotten lost even in his 4-5 square mile borders; so he's more careful now

4:13 pm

6:11 pm

ty jaxx...and how are things with you?

6:13 pm

Not too bad. I survived two fillings at the dentist today.

6:16 pm

Yuck....I hate dentists visits

6:17 pm

So do I. I also went to hospital to have the bandage on my scalded hand redone. they think it will be another week or more before I wont need a dressing.

6:18 pm

Ouch... I didn't know, how did that happen and how badly?

6:20 pm

Scalding hot tea and very badly. the blister that came up was 3 inches long by 1inch wide and about 1 inch tall. It started on the back of my hand and snaked its way around the underside of my wrist. Quite a sight.

6:20 pm

OH wow...so sorry!

6:20 pm

Dentist would rank a distant second to that!

6:21 pm

Ouch. A year ago I dumped hot hot tea on my chest and I still have a scar

6:21 pm

song

6:21 pm

You need to learn to drink iced tea!

6:21 pm

oops

6:21 pm

I was very sorry for myself initially and the pain was awful but I am over that now. It is just a bit of a nuisance to travel 7 miles to the nearest casualty department every other day.

6:21 pm

that's ok jzw....I'm done with grid...LOL

6:22 pm

Yup I do. Funny thing is that my dermatologist said she did the same thing with pasta sauce.

6:23 pm

I make caramels every Christmas...am always scared to death I'll spill it on me...but they're too good not to risk it!

6:24 pm

Anything like sauces and soup are creamy and stick. My husband went to the nearest garage and bought what he thought was water. he didn't have his specs so what he brought back was Fruit Shoot Blackcurrant so I was sticky as well as burned.

6:24 pm

Fruit Shoot? What's that?

6:25 pm

Oh dear!

6:25 pm

A soft drink in a small bottle.

6:27 pm

I am finding that the older I get the dafter i am becoming. the day before I had decided to jump off the bed after retrieving something from the top of the wardrobe. I headbutted the wardrobe.

6:27 pm

Well, after my stroke, the only deficit I had was balance...so I have learned to slow down, even at 56

6:29 pm

Well, dinner time here...any last requests for clues?

6:29 pm

I am a little older than that (68) and I should know better. I have never been good with balance so I can sympathise with you.

how about the 8s?

6:29 pm

One for the 9 please

6:30 pm

for the 9....person from this planet...

6:30 pm

Common science fiction term for those of us on ea5/12 is the 9

6:31 pm

ey 8 is a plural...

6:31 pm

ey8 is plural for what you need in a mask to see

6:31 pm

Thanks, Pen and Jilly. Should have got that.

ty

6:31 pm

se8 is one who does the se6/21 (picks out)

6:32 pm

yw all...happy babbling! *poof*

6:34 pm

does anyone have the le 5/14?....can't find it and it's my last word...

6:35 pm

slang for language as in I don't speak the li5

6:36 pm

ignore me.

6:36 pm

i will, lol....i didn't get that for the le 5...

think of a word for a small s helf, or a rock outcropping or small cliff

6:38 pm

le5, lower limb, strange plural

6:39 pm

ty...i am done... :oD

6:39 pm

Well done, pen

6:39 pm

WTG PENQUIS!!! and g'day from me

6:42 pm

6:42 pm

medical wheels grind slowly.

6:43 pm

it's okay. at least it will be weeks and not months like it would have been if i had decided to go to court.

6:44 pm

Scalded left hand in bandage, Two new fillings, one of which is aching despite painkillers. Grandson has returned home so Darby and Joan are having to talk to each other. lol

6:45 pm

yeah, i read about that scald when you first did it. i am still cringing inside at the thought.

6:45 pm

do you have any oil of cloves in the house? or teething gel ?

6:46 pm

You should see it now! scarlet area where the blister was with dead black and yellow skin around it. The rest of the burned area is starting to peel. Lovely

6:47 pm

I have teething gel - good idea, thank you.

th5 days without babbling and i am bored with 4 left

6:49 pm

I have 90 left TO

i meant 4

i am on a boat, and when it is in the marina there is wi fi. actually no, just needed it once for something.

otherwise, there is always something to do.

6:54 pm

Not yet. They reckon it will be another week before the bandages come off. It is clean and not too deep so they might not need to do skingrafts.

7:14 pm

the PB is locked and i have thrown away the key....for tonight.

7:15 pm

g'day welki

7:15 pm

Oh dear, then how can I drown my sorrows if the wrong team wins. :^)

7:16 pm

hey granny :)

7:19 pm

you want to hear the latest thing dh has done? it still makes me giggle

7:20 pm

Sure, what was it.

7:21 pm

t into our laundry yesterday, and th5 was a brand new bucket in the trough. i called out to him, asking where the old one was. he said he threw it out as the handle was rusty, the colour had faded, and it had a big ho4 in the bottom.

7:22 pm

when i looked at him quizzically, he said, it must have been fragile, a piece of the ceiling i am removing fell out of my hands and went straight through the bottom.

7:22 pm

There is a ho4 in the bucket, dear granny, dear granny...

7:23 pm

*giggling* that is exactly what i just said to him, and he said the straw was too dry

7:24 pm

So did you offer to get water?

7:24 pm

(off to supper, later)

7:24 pm

Wht, who are you rooting for in the Series?

7:25 pm

now i will leave you in peace to babble and watch the game.

7:25 pm

Kansas City

7:26 pm

Wow, I think Ru and I are the only Giants fans in this crowd.

hi welk, new zydeco program on now, stream from xpn.org

7:29 pm

Being from Boston, I can relate to a team that hasn't won a world series in a while.

7:31 pm

Yeah, well you are preaching to the choir as I am an Orioles fan.

7:37 pm

Well, you have something to cheer about now, Molly.

8:06 pm

This is a great game.

8:13 pm

Yes it is.

8:16 pm

Does anyone have a clue for first th7.

8:16 pm

8:17 pm

You? Maybe for Shakespeare : D

8:23 pm

Just singular, Molly

8:24 pm

Well done wht. still working on the sequence of points

8:24 pm

What you draw in the sand, Bugs

8:24 pm

I went from Shakespeare to Euclid.

8:26 pm

This is why it never went over when I tried to hang with the brainy guys

9:12 pm

love those double plays

9:22 pm

I stopped breathing 2 innings ago

9:23 pm

I have no fingernails left

9:28 pm

oh my goodness. i forgot how many stars there are in the sky! (having nothing whatsoever to do with baseball)

9:30 pm

*Puts out an oxygen tank and a high quality glass of wine for Ru*

9:48 pm

I went from Euclid to Shaker Heights ..

9:53 pm

Wine! good thot!

10:08 pm

Ahhhhhhhhh&hhhhhhh

10:09 pm

I love games like this. The series has been pretty onesided each game for the most part.

10:10 pm

I am on the edge of my seat

10:15 pm

me too. Bumgardner is too good.

10:22 pm

of crap

10:22 pm

oh crap I mean

10:22 pm

so close and yet so far

10:24 pm

hey all

10:24 pm

or bugs :-D

10:25 pm

hey stid, now the game is over I can find my last 11 words. How are you all?

10:25 pm

who won?

10:25 pm

I was in the ER with one of Grant's friends...

10:27 pm

the friend will be okay - but I will go to school "late" for me (only a little before I am contracted to be there)

10:27 pm

Kansas lost by one run. It was a very exciting game. Tell me about the friend. What happened and where were his parents?

10:28 pm

allergic reaction, and at work. I contacted the appropriate parental units and was able to get to the ER first. Remember, the "kids" are adults now! LOL

10:29 pm

sounds like a good match... I didn't manage to see a single one of the games this year. :-(

10:29 pm

oh my goodness. you would be a good one to calm him but how old do they have to be to be adults? I can't believe Grant is that old already

10:30 pm

he is almost 20! friend is about a year younger.

10:31 pm

I am shocked! He was holding at 16 in my mind.

10:31 pm

:-)

10:32 pm

He says HE feels about 5!

10:33 pm

oh gods... he has vowed to NEVER grow up!!!! *faint*

10:33 pm

he has the abandon of a 5 year old. Such a good quality to keep as an adult. You go Grant!

10:34 pm

:-) He says he will, and let you know how it goes....

10:35 pm

I will be watching

10:36 pm

I hope the friend bot an epipen on the way home

10:38 pm

yes -- went home with injection of prednisone and prescriptions to pick up tomorrow.

10:39 pm

are you still having fun at school?

10:40 pm

YES!!!! and I was SO happy to get through today. I have only a couple "really feel I must do" activities for tomorrow, and fun fun fun planned for Friday...

10:41 pm

and then I have to spend the weekend doing report cards... and the following week the gauntlet of parent conferences.

10:41 pm

the kids must be going nuts with anticipation of Halloween

10:43 pm

But the kids are such great people and I really think I am "mostly" getting it when it comes to figuring out what they need.

10:43 pm

My 2 tutees have been slacking off a lot and now must face the prospect of having the school inform their parents. They are both chagrined but I hope they become more cooperative fast!

10:44 pm

They ARE going nuts ... fortunately Mother and the other teachers are great at helping me anticipate, and I have strong support for making instructional decisions that take into account their inability to focus (or articulate their feelings)

10:44 pm

My youngest granddaughter is in Grade 3. She lOVES her teacher.

10:44 pm

oh oh.... hope that they can and will turn things around!

10:44 pm

:-D Glad she likes her teacher!

10:46 pm

10:47 pm
