no, not really. Only for the dog tax, and that doesn't make a difference. A dog is a dog and costs a fixed amount a year.
i was wondering if the dogs could be found on the register? you would just need to find 2 terriers living at the same address in your area.
no, nothing like that, alas. The register will only tell how many dogs are registered at a certain address. Not the breed or anything.
ahh. well it was a good idea you have to admit. over here all cats and dogs have to be microchipped.
definitely a good idea. Here, the only microchips are voluntarily and meant to enable bringing dog and owner together in case of a dog getting lost. Vets can do a readout.
we get a rebate on our registration when the animal is microchipped. it is quite substantial, and encourages people to be honest.

i have got so much done over the past 3 days. like i said, lots of rest between 15 minute bouts
very very good, rose. That is definitely the way to go about it. Hard to learn, but once you are used to it... you can do more than you thought.
i even did the handwashing, 4 jumpers/sweaters and the lambskin from beside the bed. it has come back in, dried in a gentle breeze and the sunshine.
and smelling so good :)
it is frustrating though. 3 days to do what i used to do in 1 morning.
yeah well, sweetie, try and let go of that thought. It is not helpful. Things have changed, your body has had to change and now you must find new ways. Which you do, so be proud of yourself.
it's lovely though. bathroom clean, bedlinen changed, manary in cleaned cage, handwashing done, bins washed, washing almost done) just one more load for tomorrow) and all the clean washing, sorted, folded and ironed.

because, technically, at the heart of this particular course, it is structured as an I.L.C course(online studies) however, since the teacher in residence is an approved online grader for this, i can sit in class, bounce my ideas and concerns off of her and have her do the marking and curriculum instead of some disembodied grader hundreds of miles away doing this for me.

i read the reviews for adblock pro for IE. not a lot of good reviews on it. still some bugs, so I put it on chrome. but i also use IE for other sites and malware did the trick for those ads.

My mother-in-law was brutal in scrabble matches. She would haul out old copies of the Farmers Almanac from the 1950's, and pull words out of her hat that would make me squeal in pain:(
My mother was that way before the Alzheimer's.
She would wait for you to smugly place a big long word down that spans the length of the board, then with a sweet smile she would place some small, 4 or five letter word vertically that had a q, an x, and a z in it for a triple word score and a million points:(
How is your Mom doing these days Car? My Dad had Alzheimer's, I know how difficult it is to help a loved one through it.

We went away for a week this summer with my Dad and stepmom. Turned into a nightmare and I was more stressed out and exhausted than before.
So, unfortunately, that is it for a while.

we would need someone to come here, and, yes, there are.
Could that someone come to your place and you go away for a weekend or something.
Yes. the logistics are hard, but it could be done.

That's a pity. My stepdad had Parkinson'd disease that led to vascular dementia and my 5ft 2in mum had to cope with her 6ft husband. he had enormous strength and would attack her with a walking stick. A local charity intervened and he was given a room at a specialised unit while mum recovered.
:( that is so sad.
It is hard on carers. We were carers for my late son and it is so exhausting. You have my sympathy.

The bandages are off but the hand is a violent shade of red which goes maroon when it gets cold. The age spots have gone which is all to the good. They have peeled away with the least of the scalding.

Wherever possible I send my longsuffering husband to do the shopping. We know each other so well that we often double up on things. he can do the shopping on his own and come back with far more bargains than I do. Once I get in the supermarket I just want to get out ASAP.

I use to use them Sammy and you're right, there are normally only 2 or 3 in our big supermarkets and none in the smaller ones.they're just too big and i could never get close to getting the food with other people and their trolleys in the way and it annoyed me so i just go around in my chair and the bairn or hubby pushes the trolley
Perhaps you could compromise, Lilli, and do the shopping on line and then get your daughter to take you out instead. She might hate shopping as much as I do.

Trucked in veggies cost the heaven and the earth and a freezer is no good when the power grid went down for two weeks and you were frantically tossing the contents of your freezer out into the snowbanks to save it all:)

Yes, lilli, as the jar cools the seal settles on to the glass because of the vacuum so bacteria and moulds can't get in.

I have both types of jar; the older with glass tops and rubber rings, and the metal lids with the rubber seal built right into the lid

I prefer the new metal lids, becaus they "pop" when you have a good seal, and there is not guesswork
Green Giant are more expensive but my chief taster (grandson) likes the discount store sweetcorn better. Green giant can reach £1 a can and even more.

Green giant is expensive.I will normally buy the frozen sweetcorn as it is better the the tinned but occasionally i will buy a tin and i quite like the shops own as it still has a bit of a crunch but not as healthy as frozen

I don't like the texture of sweetcorn. It sets my teeth on edge as do pears, another hate.
If you can't find them in your area, try lakeland plastics or one of the top of the market kitchenware shops.
We can buy sweetcorn alot cheaper than that in a tin and a bit more for frozen Crossy but we get more in a frozen bag

I google "Kilner Jars" they are much like a very much older version of our mason jars called "wire-top" jars and only really used for decorative purposes now such as packaging soap, bath beads, etc. pretty they are, but not so sure as the more modern styles
I have a few of this type of jar in blue glass and use them for my flour, dried pasta, ground coffee etc on the countertop
Up north my mum used to use the large two quart size of mason jar with the threaded lids and glass lid for dried goods as they kept the odour of food out of the air and the bears away from the kitchen:))

I have 2 of the jars and i use mine for dried food too Crossy. i do like them so i'm going to have to see if i can get some more cheap.Jaxx said they do them in charity shops but i can't always get to them or in them so i'll have to go on Amazon or Ebay
I find that those jars, with repeated use have a tendency for the wire bails to come apart and I have had to fix mine several time with the use of a strong arm and a pair of pliers:(
Though my set is well over 15 years old, so i suppose I cannot complain too much
They are great for dried food, I agree lil. i even have a tall one that holds two full packages of spagetti;)
I've had mine for years and they seem to be ok, but i also have jewellery pliers and other pliers handy if need be. i do have another one which is similar but just has a thick rubber lip underneath the glass top and i use that for dried food

there is a small gift shoppe near here, lil, that resurrects the real old canning jars such as the beaver brand popular in the 1800's and into the early 1930's and re-purposes them to hold bath salts, bath beads and the like as gift sets. it is really quite attractive
Tou can also get pre-made deluxe miffin and cakes mixes in them now with all-natural ingredients to give as gifts
I used to collect and sell antique jars and cans when i was younger and the old jars and bottles still speak to me and make me smile. used to love to collect the old hair tonic bottles with the corks and decorative glass stoppers
That sounds lovely.I like things like that.I love re-using old style things that we don't use that much now and recycycling them to something we do.I'm a crafty person and at the moment in the UK, things are now going back to the 40/50's style and it is more re-cycle and home decor, which i love

Have you seen the craft of using old interior doors from Victorian homes to make bookcases and hallway benches for hanging coats and storing boots? it is very attractive and does a great job of using that old maple instead of wasting it.

I have a serious soft spot for SF myself - spent a glorious month there one summer, with a doctor student I met back here in the midwest, at the Swiss American Hotel - funky place - old guys playing musical instruments of all sorts in their rooms on our floor, with their doors open so they could play together. One big bathroom per sex per floor, I had mine to myself. Loved the city. Walked all over it. City Lights Bookstore. Jazz, blues, Golden Gate Park... ah, memories. So much fun.
it's a great city.. great food. .great music.. great coffee.. great hiking
