oh goodie, a biggie for the sunday! Good morning all
{{hugs}} my darling sprite. how was your night, dearest?
not too bad, rose. And you? A bit rested up?
oh, yes. church this am, took it easy, didn't stand for too long.
very good. *hugs* I know this was a hard change for you to make. Well done, darling.
oh, honey. on the tv....a program from when i was in my 20's...countdown with 'molly' meldrum. so many happy memories.
oh that is lovely
the music of that time still makes my toes tap.
my favorite word is in today's grid :D
I love it when you tap your toes :)
how are your aches, hun? are they settling after yesterday?
not really. Am feeling rotten, tbh. Might be a virus. Blech.
oh, no, hun!!! start the echinacea right now...
already did, lol. Yesterday.
yay you, sprite
what are your plans for tomorrow?
gp at 11am, then to vote early, as we won't be here for the elections. washing...and the last itty bit of ironing to do.
sounds good. Looking forward to your trip?
soooo much.
what are you doing today?
don't know yet. If I can, I will go meet up with my fellow group members of the eating disorder clinic. But if I keep feeling like this, I don't know.
bo
might be best to pamper yourself today, hun
hi marigold. Happy bo to you too
hi sorry
g'day marigold.hope you are well.
np :) Nice to see you in chat.
so far so good
lovely marigold.
sprite...the grid is a bit of a pig. i was fine until the last 30 odd words.
oh lol, ok, then I know how many real odd ones there are :D
ugh, did i give the game away? sorry hun
*giggles* Not at all, darling, not at all.
dinner in 10 minutes, according to the cook...lol
hehehe what are you having today?
chicken kievs, filled with brie cheese, steamed vegs.
yummy! With bread or potatoes or rice or....
chat potatos....not sure what else...have left it up to don...* giggle * could be anything...
sounds good. Lovely dinner!
i just do the shopping, put the vegs in the fridge....he decides what goes with what.
wow, great deal
how is Don doing lately? Feeling good?
at the moment, yes. we...note the we....are filling out the paperwork for his shoulder surgery. * sigh * what is it about men? they don't recall their own surgical/medical history.
they are manly men. They don't want to remember their weak moments ;)
aha...is that so?
if you realise our systems are still wired as if men go out to hunt and women protect the homestead, it makes sense. Can't go hunt if you remember every pain and illness.
timer going nuts...hang on while i poke him...
lol... nuts timer followed by dinner, I bet
right...dinner here. will you be here in about 15 minutes?
def looks like it, rose. Go enjoy your dinner :) *hugs* for now
later, dearest.
okay...chicken kievs, cordon bleu. oh, my, so delish.
how you doing now, sprite?
wow, you inhaled that!
*giggle* old habits die hard...
I just finished my coffee. It is kinda fighting inside with my meds, lol. But Rob just said he is willing to drive me to amsterdam, so I think I will go.
oh, good for rob. how soon do you leave?
oh not for a while. It is half past 11 in the morning here now. Appt is at 2 pm. Two more hours before we leave.
so does rob have the day off?
only self-inflicted jobs, lol. He wants to work on a paddle. And cook.
*giggle* give the man a gold st4...
keep meaning to ask you...what is rob's line of work?
oh yea. Every day. A friend of mine stayed for dinner on Friday and we discussed relationships... she has a background of abuse, esp. emotionally, and tends to find men who continue the pattern. So we discussed the warning signs, and also how great men and partners behave. They behave like mine! And like yours :)
Rob's job is to help ppl with an unemployment benefit to become ready for a regular job. Especially in the construction market. It ranges from arranging education to learning basic employee skills. Like getting up in the morning, using an alarm clock etc.
i know....and if it weren't for the incredible counselling i received after my first marriage, i am guessing i would have 'walked' straight into an identical relationship.
oh yeah, rose. My first long relationship was with an alcoholic who abused me emotionally and mentally. His girlfriends before and after me, he abused physically as well. I don't get cookie points for that choice either!
The people Rob helps range from young school dropouts to ex-drugs addicts to ex-cons.
though I award myself cookie points for the fact he didn't dare abuse me physically... I must have send out at least one strong and clear signal, even back then.
oh, new babble dictionary word, rose: presib - brother or sister born earlier than you
like it sprite. put it in.
ok :D
brb, potty break
ditto
my potty is broken. Yours?
Crikey - huge grid!
yeah, good size for a sunday, matty :) *hug* And how are you today?
Colidfied and tired (still in bed!) but otherwise ok - how's everyone here? And how's the grid?
a bit flu-ish here, debating whether or not to go meet up with friends later today. The grid is great.
mine is still in one piece. only number ones this time....lol
oh, g'day matty.
hehehe rose. Well, better luck next time ;)
hey where did my post go?
eaten by the hiccup?
sprite, found out the other day that magnesium causes loose bowels. maybe needs to be checked out, hun.
oh dear. For crying out loud, just when you think you have found something that works... Yeah, will have it checked out.
i am taking the equivalent of 10 grams each day. but your dose is much lower.
fireflies. Guess I'd better go hang up the laundry and see how I feel after.
WTG SPRITE!!!
matty, get well soon and take care :) Rose, darling... warm hugs and lots of love, and sleep well. And all you out there, may you have a blessed day and a peaceful night.
i hope you have a nice day, hun. xoxox
good morning everyone:)
Hello, Crossy :-)
Hello, All :-)
how is zooz this fine morning? Tis a bracing minus 5c here this morn and the snow looks like it is going to stay around for a bit now.
Tipping down with rain here, Crossy.Still mild :-)
I am well thanks. Carboot was canceled as of the weather :-(
Hope you are well?
I am fine as is the mrs. and the offspring:)
That is good to hear!
Carboot, I am guessing is something like a mobile flea-market out of the boot of your car?
Correct..Although they just take it out of the boot/trunk and place items onto a table..lol
We move all that sort of thing inside now till Spring:)
Yes this would of been the last one now untill spring time. So no more car-boot sales for us now untill next year :-(
As for myself, after being in the same place now for 21 years, my entire lodging is one great big carboot!. I have no need to add to it!
I console myself by calling it "eclectic" in decoration;)
Even though most of it is crap.We still enjoy going around it all.On the off chance we might find somethng of a bargain.
LOL as long as you are happy with it, Crossy.Plus it is what makes your house a home :-)
My place is full of 'bargains". Tornado could go through here and do $20,000 dollars worth of improvements;)
I would rather have car-booty
LOL funny!
*Rolls eyes* trust you, Ruru..lol
I have some lovely bookcases I have collected over the years and they are bursting at the seams, so all is fine as far as the rest of it goes. My books are the heart and soul of my living space
lol, ruru
That and my oil lamp and inkwell collection. sets it all off quite nicely
I reall do need another bookcase. So many books starting to stack on top of each other and looking a bit like they are going to fall over. But I have not much room for another bookcae :-(
oil lamp coleection..interesting!
yes, i have about a dozen of them, not reall high priced ones, but ones that can be used at need
Sounds okay to me, Crossy.at least they can serve a purpose.
My parent s had a couple of them when i was living at home. But do not know what happened to them, as I do not re-collect seeing them when I go round. Will have to ask them what they did with them.
Do you ever go whale watching, Crossy? Would love to go and see that.
Hi all :)
Hello, Liz :-)
How are you?
Zooz - you need to get over here to go whale watching. We go every week in our winter (June - Oct)
Very well thanks but very hot - how about you?
I bet it is an awesome site to behold, Liz!
Not too bad thank you :-) Still mild here although tipping down with rain
Truly awesome - I never get sick of the sight of the whales - but it's always best when they're feeling active rather than just swimming along.
Damn forgot the fullstop.
We need rain - the ground is very dry and brown. Heatwave this weekend - temps in the mid 30sC
Also forgot full stop!
I do hope there is no bush fires this year for your country, Liz.
Me too - though there've already been reports of fires in the Blue Mountains, ne4 Sydney.
It always angers me so much that some people deliberately set fires and others are just thoughtless.
When it is a natural one that is bad enough. It is when it is human made that I do not understand those ones.
Oh Snap, Liz!
Great minds .... :) It puts so many lives at risk.
I am in central Ontario, zooz. Whale routes are a long ways off for me, sadly
We have blue mountains here as well, liz:)
Agreed. If the person caught doing these things has property. The punishment should be they have to set fire to their hous and let them watch it burn down.As they love fires so much.
We saw whales last year from Vancouver Island and from Juneau on our amazing holiday. I know that's not close to you, crossy.
Ahh Okay, Crossy.I bet you have been to a few though no?
Wish it was. Would love to see the whales.
Blue mountains are supposed to be beautiful - hope to get there some time in the not too distant future. There's so much of Australia that I haven't seen - in fact most of it!
Same here, Crossy.
I hope that you both get the opportunity some time :)
It is a very L-A-R-GE place, Liz :-)
Very true - it's funny though, kids of friends on their gap years, come here and see more of the place than I've seen - and I've been here 6 years now!
I saw a dolphin once and I was so excited, I was like a little kid in a candy shop..lol
Love dolphins too - we often see them when we're whale watching. But I'd love to go swimming with them one day.
Yeah but you have a job, Liz, That stops you doing a lot of travling around.
g'day liz girl and zooz
Hello, Rose :-)
No I took early retirement - but our travels tend to be back to England!
Hi and hugs Rose/
Ooops! Finger slipped!
Have you had a lovely day?
Love anything to do with nature. I love going through the forest near me.Just wonderful to hear all the different sounds.
*giggle* zooz. on our trip to tasmania, we went on a boat ride into the southern ocean. dolphins everywhere much to my delight.
Same here, zooz - in fact it was only when I moved here, I realised what a nature lover I am!
That's a place I want to visit - Tasmania, I mean.
Wow i bet that was amazing to see that.Did you have a video camera with you to record it?
DH said he couldn't see the porpoise in that
Groan - you've been talking to Ru too much!!!!
liz, not much more than church this am, hun.
sounds kinda fishy to me...
What! imagine the delight on your face when you watch it again on a cold rainy day.
There's a time and a plaice for this
LOL, Crossy.
roflol at you two.
Oh geez.I missed it. Now I feel silly..LOL
More groans! Hi matty
we have a whale of a time here:)
ooohhh, g'day crossy
I've haddockough of this.
((rose))
I'm beginning to hate the letter P!
These jokes have my seal of approval
lol, matty!
You're obviously all much wider awake than me!
I need two more Ps liz.
I need 11 more - mostly pr's.
there are a few with double vowel in them.
Have 3 of them.
Just found the magic one! Hey pr 6!

I'm missing both of those myself (plus 203 other words but I've not started on Lickety yet)

yw
Thank you Liz!
whoa- big one today- morning all :-)
I don't have the bottom N though.
I'd love to get halfway without Lickety but I don't see it happening. I don't have any of the 8s or 9s and only 5 of the 7s
g'day peri. nice to see you
ok
and g'day wolvie
NA word for being really horrible.
Hi wolvie
no 8's or 9's here

Thanks also, Rose
en8, en + abbreviation for thanx + abbreviation for another word for road + most of frozen water
ty rose
Great clue. Great word
Thanks, Rose.
As natty said, great clue.
ty rose
pe9, someone who receives a government handout. like...old age pe9
relating to any disease involving tonic spasms, whatever they are at home
Spasms caused by drinking gin????
Or by not drinking gin????
Or by drinking ne4 gin
ty rose for pe9
Could be :)

Hello Wolvie

re 5/12

Doh
I try resit every time - if you fail an exam, you resit it!
Ditto here, Liz
I've tried it more than once
also resat
ty again rose
Good morning everyone.
gm sukee
morning sukee
Hi sukee
I think sneep should be a word. Hi sukee!
They've brought the sheep back to the field above our house to trim the grass for winter, I guess. What a delight
and here's sukee. g'day sukee
That's lovely to see, Ruby.
I tried sneep and resit too
Also tried sneep.
\Last night, when I let the dogs out at midnight, I could hear the bells, but couldn't quite believe my ears.
not gonna lie to you all...i also tried sneep
lol

Enjoy your day, peri

Oh dear Liz, that sounds beastly
LOL :) It happens to us all
We all do it sometimes, anita.
clutzy thats me!
Thank goodness for air con, fans and a pool.
nearly midnight here. DH has just watched a film on the tv...all in captions...ugh
It got close to 40 C this afternoon - that's pretty unusual for here.
I am exactly halfway - I can see Lickety in my future very, very soon. Amongst other things, I need 3 more 8s, 1 more 9, 16 more Ps and 19 more Ss. Argh
Down to needing 4 more ps - but still another 58 words.
how I would enjoy 40C!!! We have not reached freezing yet, but too close for comfort
lolol...happy babbling to all of you. my pillows are calling. xoxox
Have a nice night.
{{rosie}}
Sleep well, Rose - hugs.
It's just gloomy here
It's usually closer to 30 C in the summer here.
nite rose and ty again ;-)
night rose
I think should like in Canada for 6 months and Australia for 6 Months. Avoid winter altogether.
presin - what you do before you are naughty
Yeah, I was out much later than planned last night and I sufficiently bundled and it was worrisome
That's why I like Queensland! Averages around 20 C daytime in winter and 30 C in summer.
Can't afford to get sick before next weeks big interview!
Insufficiently bundled, that is. Silly autocorrect
Stay away from people, pip - full of germs!
Tell me, just getting over a cold...
and, speaking like a mother, don't stay out so late! or have alcohol if you're getting migraines!
55 left - time for bed for me too. Enjoy your days, everyone.
Night.
33 for me and struggling now :(
nite Liz
bye liz
i am off to the kitchen- back in a bit
yay, half, nbt and nbs
time for MI5 reruns
thanks ruby, but it was only 9pm, not late for regular people, just later than planned
9pm is late for us old folks
yes but i just turned 40, I
i'm still a young fry!
forgive me for putting my big nose in, pip
no, i don't mind at all, it's nice to have folks who look out for you
I stated to hit my peak at 40 and it kept getting better for 7 years!
and this was the last of my 5 birthday festivities, so now i can relax
Ruby, I didn't see you yesterday, but you were in the grid, so here is a tiara for your itty bitty head.
we did a late brunch, then dessert, then i had a single cocktail, and then we sang karaoke
does caffeine help the migraines? Is used to get them from birth control pills and at that time, all they prescribed was ergot
A single cocktail? Wow, what a party girl : D
I was in the grid? And I missed it? Fie on me
times have changed, molly. when more than one cocktail means two days of migraines, it's just not worth it anymore unless they are amazing
Well, your alter ego, Naughty Nell
I think there are all kinds of new meds for migraines -- tripto something?
caffeine doesn't really help enough. i think i just need to get out of my job with the crazy doc, hence the need to rock my interviews so I can move to Chicago
uh oh
Is the UP word obvious - am I just being my usual blind self?
Blech, if I had to deal with no alcohol because of migraines I think I'd start smoking pot.
I take triptans, but you can only take them 1-2 times per week, and then I take a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor as a preventative, but it has some crazy side effects and i'm still kind of touch and go on it
sounds like a plan, molly. Is pot good for migraines?
and I can't smoke because that gives me a headache half the time and i'm likely to be tested for school in the near future so it's not worth the risk
up + not front
*Blesses self and thanks God for good health*
blessings for Molly
Thanks Molly!
actually there's some reputable research that says that psychedelics (even at a sub-high dose) can stop the migraine cycle for like a good year or more) so I'm game for that but it's a question of getting some
don't exactly run in those circles anymore
There was a smart woman named Molly, Whose postings were often quite jolly, We bless her good health, And wish her great wealth, And even in stealth, say by golly
*Channels Carlos Casteneda for Pip*
yay!
There was a hot minx named Nell, whose limericks all were quite swell, she had great legs, from eating quail eggs, and good stories that she loved to tell.
<--loves molly
♥♥♥
*woof*
also yay!
one more for pip
50 shades of Babble today?! tw4, up6, and pe5 all in the same grid! yikes LOL
shall i be good and have leftover veggie hummus for brekky, or leftover birthday cake?
both sound delish, pip!
Cake! Cake! Cake!
Cake with hummus icing?
Oh gross. Ixnay on ummuhay icingyay
my friend is a pastry chef, and made me the most glorious 2-tiered cake with a cake "40" as a 3rd tier
wow pip!
it is lemon angel food with lemon curd and lemon meringue buttercream icing. i am a lucky girl
Ah, we should all have a friend who is a pastry chef.
There was a young lady named Pip, Whose postings were often quite flip, Her headaches were bad, But she never was sad, And her cocktails had only one sip
And Une, yes, someone in the grid making department has been reading that trashy book : D
yrs ago my ex had a good friend who was a french pastry chef -- made him an incredible layered banana creme cake for his bday!
trashy novels but loves felines, go figure
yum!
Loves felines?
i have found a couple feline related words in the grid thus far
mmm, cake. so good!
morning
hey sue :-)
i saw an ad on tv for a new memory supplement made from jelly fish, any ideas about it?
I keep forgetting this place is a cat lovers paradise
<<<<<cat liker not cat lover LOL
grew up with bad allergies and warned to avoid kitties!
There is no clear evidence yet that the jellyfish protein does anything for memory.
i need something for sure
can i have a clue for the lone E for nbt and nbs please
good to see everyone -- heading out for 2 transports -- hope precip stays LIQUID! byee :-)
be safe une
ey 4/6
may God be with you
Safe travels Une
ty molly
good luck
oops, my piece of cake might have been slightly too large. too much sweet and tart!
oh please no cake, I have lost 8 lbs in 8 days, but it is hard
i feel bad if i eat two melba toasts
That is not healthy
i was goaded into it by the denizens of the chog!
and it was delicious
lol
i would agree molly, but i am getting 10oz of meat a day, 4 servings of carbs and a lot of vegies
it seems here in the US we eat a lot more then most
No, I meant it is not healthy to feel bad if you eat two melba toasts
oh
on the other hand it is healthy to feel bad if you eat too much cake. but i will fix it by eating some veggie hummus and balancing my taste buds again
i am a habitual eater. I just dont stop. I think it is still from smoking at such a young age. even though i quite 18yrs ago
I'm glad you're happy with your weight loss. I am not a big fan of the HCG diet
me either now molly.
i forgot to take it yesterday and i saw a slight difference in my hunger. maybe the 100% hormone free HCG drops arent doing much
or, maybe the taste is so bad it stops me from wanting to eat for a bit after. either way, onward and downward
clue for the u please?
i can tell my mood is darker
i have up+back end
HCG proponents say the plan only works with the injections
i think you are right molly
I also have ur4
I have a problem with 500 calories per day, as you are basically starving yourself
thanks sue
agreed molly. but i have a ways to go before i am dead from it :) but seriously, i am eating every 2-3 hours so my body doesnt feel starved.

It sounds like what you are when you're clothed, but spelled differently. MLF
http://tinyurl.com/mfzephb

Rhymes with not the worst
oh got it ty ruby
Three CA6/21s. Plus 97 other words, but we'll gloss over those for the moment :)

Is that what they mean when they tell me "Get a Clue Ruru!" molly?

Oh SURE Ruby
Do any of you know the building in China that the locals call "Big Pants". I think it's in Beijing
All 80 and 3/4 pounds of you?
o no, Molly, I'm much bigger than that
I thought the Chinese called the Chinese CEO's who pay for escorts "Big Pants"
not getting the really great clue -- all I can think of is sensational and that doesn't work
It\s a modern building with two parts connected by a several story section, if I remember correctly. It struct me funny
think FA nan
ty ruru
have to look up the def on that one
I think the Chinese have a saying like that
Britches and Bitches
at least that's what I've heard
no def -- so a non word
Charles Boyer never used Teflon either
I don't understand the ca paint and the military place
ca6/21 is an egg-based paint

I wonder at the expression, did the bread lose itself in the egg?
no....just often made with old bread, i think....
ah - it had been lost in the back of the cupboard, then
my mother made a butterscotch bread pudding with old bread, too....
yes, lost its prime... ;o)
like that explanation better, pen
*can relate to it!
the pudding was basically like French toast except it used brown sugar instead of maple syrup...
and it was baked...
butter old bread, cut in bite sized pieces, put in casserole dish....top with a mixture of beaten egg and milk...add brown sugar and bake...i think that was it...
great with ice cream... ;o)
i am done... :oD
going to clean my kitchen...bye to all who remain!

Hot cold remedy, if that makes sense
Lemon flavoured with paracetemol (tylenol) and decongestant

can I get a clue for up 6 ?

Hello MollyL! How are you? I am having pajama day today.
According to your profile, Molly, you're six. Gosh, you have an excellent vocabulary ;)
Molly is a very bright little girl
Matty - thank you for reminding me of 'anyone' and of e e cummings in general - you have set up my reading for the afternoon!
Hi Helen - you are very welcome - I put that on there at about the time I joined...one day I'll replace or add to it
Pajama Days are good for you Min
You have to remember - Molly joined in 2007 - so she's actually 13 now!
Hello helensgirlkid! How are you doing? Welcome to chog.
What a learning experience - education by Babble

Again, this place is full of masochists
(Joke) - what's the difference between a sadist and a masochist?
If you can't join them ...beat them.
A masochist says "hurt me, hurt me," a sadist says "no"
Don't quit your day job Matty : )
Oh, I have plenty more where that came from. This is why I have a day job...that isn't cracking jokes
Drat. I was hoping the second in7/28 would follow from the third in6/18. But it doesn't look that way
Done
But found it - quick as a flash ;)
*Makes Annie a congratulatory hot toddy*

couldn't sleep last night, so was at flip...so hard to continue an already started grid....tend to enter same words
yep
did you at least get to sleep in?
nope. bummer too - we had a half marathon in town today, and a coworker asked me if her family could park in my driveway and walk to the finish line to cheer her. I said sure, changed plans to make sure I would be home== and they never came
do I say something at work tomorrow? I dont' know
sounds annoying
she didn't ask me to change my plans and all....
oh ok
I would Trif, say something that is
thanks molly. maybe she didn't run after all....
still, how hard would it have been to email?
Or call
yup
anyway, I ended up getting a lot done, but I am stuck now - took off the door knob to paint the door between the kitchen and garage, and now can't find where I left it. Who does that???
lol
rod would do that........ bill will do that... ed would...... and m walter would try not to laugh at them
not the one to ask... I lost my glasses the other day and finally found them 2 days later in the cupboard by the ketchup
Can't find your knob? Sounds like a personal problem Trif. : P
I am sure I either put it somewhere to "keep it safe" or distractedly put it down somewhere bizarre whilst doing something else....gone etiher way
hahaha molly
Hi sammysmom! How are you doing/ Welcome to the grid.
i keep my exra glasses in a plant pot.
When (the few times) I am doing fix-it stuff, I have a designated area for pieces, screws, etc.
ok, finally to 50... time to list
I thought I did too, molly
go kje go!!!
Some women seem to lose knobs easily
why do I speak?
I have a friend who wears a work apron with deep pockets so he won't lose stuff like that
Lol
Women are usually better at finding knobs than men are : P
Well i know where my knobs are..
That is a good start
That is so funny trif
i packed my knobs away years ago... haven 't even missed them
I am good at buttons too
remember your grandma's button jar????
Yes
Hi people.

Ends in not west
Button, button, who's got the button?
Jenson.
Jenson has the button? I thought Clint Boyer had it.
Formula 1 driver Jenson Button :-)
ty
Yes, we seem to be fixated on race car drivers here today. : P
There is also Benjamin Button.
And knobs by the looks of things.
Curious case
Ah! Its lovely to enter the parallel universe that is Babble. 'Evening all! :-)
Oh for God's sake, both my teams are stinking up the football field. I need to start drinking heavily.
Hello, Soodle. I like your icon Teehee!
hi all - back again
Watched some of Love Actually this afternoon. I love that movie, but it seemed too early :)
Why, is it a Christmas movie? (I don't generally watch girlie movies)
Well, it takes place around Christmas.
does anyone here have any experience with telestial international phone cards?
I am a real fan of Richard Curtis movies.
I can only watch Christmas movies on Christmas Eve and Christmas
Not me, Nan.
<......... pour molly a shot of jack daniels
walmart is selling live christmas trees already
Well, this one starts off 6 weeks from Christmas. I save Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to watch a Doctor Who marathon :)

hi all, happy to see a big one today. *** dive! ***
Lucky gwen :D
Clearly, Ru has never seen the movie "Diner" and has no knowledge of "the popcorn box trick"
*innocent look*
Sadly, for all teenage boys, they no longer sell popcorn in boxes with a flap on the bottom.
some of us don't need flaps
Must have something to do with knobs
or losing them I guess
I didn't get the dirty movie clue
hopefully no one else did either bichon

*hangs up call to the FBI*
*cancels Amber Alert*
At least she didn't say she needed a knob
Molly, you rude little minx :)
ac
Well L, earlier, Trif posted about not being able to find her knob, and it just kind of evolved from there.
I saw that, but you still you still carried it on.After seeing some of the words tonight on here i could have a field day day but it would be x-rated, i'm surprised Ru hasn't picked up on a lot of it....i think we need an x rated babble chat where others wouldn't be offended
I must just have a dirty sense of humour!
so tell us about YOUR knobs lil
I only have one and sadly don't get to see it very often :(
Which is why i like Ru's sense of humour
Thank you SMom, for having a fun sense of humor. Thank you twice.
I have a fun sense of humour which is why i was joking
I give up!!
By the way Molly, i wasn't having a go at you i was saying that i had seen that knobs had been said and that you'd carried the word on, that is what i meant by what i'd said at 5.07 but i'm shutting up now as every thing on here is always taken out of proportion.
I meant to say 'and' not 'but' at 5.07
anert
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.. so that's where i put the non-word
people. please send goood thoughts to walter.... he is ill... and i am so frustrated because he will not let me help him and he Needs help taking care of walter 1

Sorry Smom, i've been away a while and i'm not sure who Walter and Walter1 is? i have memory problems and forget majority of what people have told me on here and heve even forgotten loads of 'babblets'
Your welcome
I even forgot the word@babblet'
I have to read people's profiles evry day to remind myself, which isn't good if people change them or don't have owt written on them
walter 1 is hubby (age88) andr walter 11 is son who takes care of us
Once i'm back here every day for a while i do tend to remember certain peoples' back grounds, well certain parts. I need Molly's memory
My thoughts are going to both Walters then hin and i hope he stops being stubborn and will let you help him
Sending healing vibes to Walter 11 Smom
clue for last pe 7/40
Ditto, lilli. I so appreciate your asking. I often recognize a babble name and have a nice warm feeling in my heart, but can't remember their background or current postings. I'd like to think most of us share that challenge. One thing I love about our little community is that when something major happens, we all "gather round" with prayers and cyber-hugs.
pe7 is when you gt moey when you ritire
*retire
Sorry, typing crap,pe7 is when you receive money when you retire

There are 3 words from the lower n

you are right, lili.

Ty Ch12, they are the ones i have anyway. If you want a clue phan, just ask
Thanks, molly. I needed that particle one.
thanks, Molly
Molly clued them better than i could have...
Hey Phan, chilly up there in Fredneck?

Hi Diane
Hi lil :-)
How are you doing hin?
I'm doing well, not great, but well ! I've been watching football and baking today, so just playing off and on! Thanks for asking !
What on earth are you doing up at this hour ?
I'm glad you are doing well but hope you do better. What have you been baking? Some days i'm up at this time because i have to sleep during the day,and some days i sleep through the day and then back in bed by 9/10pm.It's swings and round-a-bouts for me
Well, as long as you do sleep at some point !
hi, folks!
There's days where i'm up chatting here at 5 am, but not lately
Hi Welki
I've seen you mention Durham, Newcastle, etc. Is that where you live... in that area ?
Hiya welki !! :-)
That's the problem Diane, with my problems i can sleep too much sadly and miss alot of the day
Yes.We live just outside Durham City
Hello welki! How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid
hi, min - nice to 'see' you :)
My paternal grandma was from Durham.... I still have relatives in Darlington, Red Marshall, etc. Grandma was born in a little village called Bishopton, which is still "little" and much unchanged.
Diane, What did you bake today? Anything we can eat, i'm peckish :)
Hello, Minveryork :-)
Nice to see you here too.Been here off and on all day long
Hi MIn
I baked a date cake, with drizzled orange juice over the top.
Diane, have you been here then to visit
That sounds lovely, i'll have a slice with my cuppa :)
Hello lilliann! How are you doing? Nice to see you here too
Not too bad thanks Min.How are you doing?
No, and I probably never will. :-( Granddad was from Yorkshire, and I'd have liked to visit there as well.
<-- spent about an hour driving around the roundabout in York. thought i'd never get out, was ready to call out for sandwiches
:-) You mean they don't have a sandwich kiosk?!!
I know Darlington and i've heard of Bishopton but i don't know Red Marshall. That's a shame.Have your relatives ever visited you Diane?
was such a wreck by the time i finally made it out of the circle, that i found a pub - the owner, a nice guy, shared his single malt with me. the name of the whiskey? sheep dip *lol* but it was wonderful
I went to York with the bairn in the Summer but on the train as it is alot easier.I couldn't drive around it, it's a one way confusing system, so i'm not surprised you drove around in a circle Welki
I've met a second cousin who is one year younger than I am. We correspond and it's amazing that we are much alike, in looks and in interests, yet never meeting each other until our late 50's.
As long as there was no wool in it, welki, you'd be fine!
My husband drives around there in his coach, i don't know how he does it,i'd get bored after 5 minutes with all the traffic lights for cars and pedestrians. It's stop start!
Welki, i bet you had no trouble driving around York after the sheep dip :)
It's lovely that you can can get on so well Diane, just sad that you both live so far
Yes it is, lil because family and ancestors mean a lot to me.
i didn't drive after that, lil - was lucky to have someone else who drove
Grandma and Granddad never did get back....people didn't travel in those days ( 1908- ish ) like they do now.
I was going to say that i didn't think you'd be able to walk after that welki :) Did you stay in York?
After my dad died, my mom got really brave and went to England ( as a tribute to him ) and met and visited all of his relatives. She had a wonderful 3 weeks in England )
I am doing well lilliann! Not looking forward to wintry mix
home base was a friend's house in dunstable - travelled all over and spent nights in bed/breakfasts wherever there were market days
I do have family in canada, but i'm not sure where. My mam was supposed to be on the ship that got bombed on it's way to Canada in ww2, but my nan took her off at the last minute
That's brilliant Diane
Where did she go Diane?
Dunstable, that's in Kent isn't it?
It was a big trip for my mom, who'd never gone anywhere by herself. She went to Durham...stayed mostly in Darlington. They did many little day trips which she just loved. They even drove down to where my granddad was born, in Yorkshire.
bedfordshire, lil - it's near luton
(and there's a magic roundabout there, too)
There's also a Dunstable in Kent as i've been there when i lived in Kent
I think it's Hemel Hemptead where they have the big rounda bout which has about 7 little ones off if it...I'll need to look it up but i've been around it and it's awful!
Fireworks.... and I'm off to watch some hockey. They seem to play better when I'm watching! :-) Thanks for the nice visit.
'night, diane
That sounds great, i'm glad she had such a good time and got to meet family Diane
we have roundabouts here, now - they take some getting used to, but seem to keep traffic moving (so long as the folks in them know how to maneuver around them)
Night Diane.Enjoy your hockey and sweet dreams and take care
Good night, welki, lilliann.... enjoy the game :-)
We've had them here for years and some people still can't drive around them properly. Some of them can be pains. It depends on how many lanes of traffic are coming onto each roundabout. When they have traffic lights they can be better
i don't think ours will have traffic lights - they put them in our neighborhoods to get rid of the traffic lights. for the most part, there are two lanes around them - just getting people familiar with who has the right of way is the hard part (even though it's in the drivers' manual we're supposed to read before our road tests)
maybe there should be a guy at the entrances who hands out shots of sheep dip to all who enter the roundabout :D
You always have to give way to the people on the right..well here anyway. It's only our large roundabouts and some in Cities and large towns that have traffic lights and some of those only come on when there is alot of traffic, as in rush hour traffic
Aye, we'd probably all drive better around them :)
here, we drive on the other side of the road - right of way in roundabouts is given to the car on the left, the car on the inside of the roundabout
(theoretically, anyway - doesn't always work)
We have two laned raoundabouts aswell and it doesn't matter which lane they are in, we have to give way if they are coming towards us
I heard that round-a-bouts are safer than traffic lights. Do not know if it is true or not. We have a few here in the U.S
As long as it's not to our left, then it would be like bumper cars :(
pssst -- i drove the wrong way down oxford street during rush hour, when it was a taxi only street
I prefer traffic lights as on a round-a-bout you just have to go for it but traffic lights are safer.yopu have to stop, but saying that there are plenty of drivers who go red lights
Omg Welki and you're still here?
Luckily it was only taxis
most of them were pretty good natured about it. one guided me through traffic so i could get back to where i was supposed to be. (between shifting with my left hand, all the traffic rules and driving on the other side of the road, it's no wonder i ended up all kerfuffled)
Some round-a-bouts are more dangerous than anything and shouldn't be there. We have a round-a-bout in our city which has traffic lights which is fine but going to one of the lights we have bus lanes and the cars aren't allowed in them obviously but there isn't much lane left for a car to get into before the lights.the cars want to be in the lanes of the buses and the buses want to be in the outer lanes where the cars are.It wasn't designed very well at all
You needed more sheep dip :)
rush hour lanes and vehicle restricted lanes cause lots of problems here, too
Do U guys have HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lanes there?
ha! yes, sheep dip, the cure for all that ails you
yes
It must have been hard driving on the opposite of the road and on the opposite side of a car so hats off to you Welki
No Min
We have bus lanes
once the initial weirdness wears off, it's not so bad - but it sure is disorienting at first
Is it true that Japan has no speed limits and they have the least amount of accidents? Speed limits are a joke in U.S.
I've driven in France but in an English car and that's bad enough
Nobody follows speed limits&they aren't enforced enough.
I don't know Min, i've never been
I think alot of them use the trains as they have a very good rail service
just googled tokyo speed limit - The typical speed limits are 80 to 100 km/h on expressways, 40 km/h in urban areas, 30 km/h in side streets and 50 to 60 km/h elsewhere; however, drivers tend to go a little over the posted speed limits.
Or is that China, i'm thinking about? Not sure
Welki, you beat me to it!Was about to post the same thing.
Drivers do tend to go over the speed limit in any country
:D
then i'm glad i just didn't blurt out the information, as if i knew the answer ;)
I lived in Japan for seven years. It is quite true, both about the speed limits and over 90% use of the superb public transit. There are also vending machines selling alcoholic beverages along the roadway. However, . . .
Hello jwr! How are you doing today? Welcome to the chog
Hi Jwr and thanks for telling us.I'm not so sure about the alcoholic vending machines though...do they get used?
Did you live there for work Jwr?
Does that mean it is legal to drink and drive in Japan jwr?
However! There are many rules to follow; penalties for breaking them are severe. (Also Japanese go through a much stricter government-run driver training than anywhere else). Many checkpoints, especially at night. If you are caught with ANY alcohol content - License gone, big fine, possible jail term. More
This was posted September 19, 2007
Starting Wednesday, Japan’s tough new traffic laws go into effect, making jail time of up to three years a possible punishment for driving after drinking as little as one beer
So no MIn and i wouldn't think the machines get used much either
(then i wonder what the purpose of those vending machines is - sounds like subtle entrapment)
Unless you're walking and buy one but by the sounds of it you could get arrested for drinking and walking
nah, not subtle entrapment - must be a better term, but i think you understand what i mean
It does sound odd to sell alcohol in vending machines on the side of the road
There is a speed limit, especially for residential areas (very very slow, the latter) but it depends on the safety observed in the driver -- passing, stopping, etc. If you are caught in the slightest form of what might be perceived as reckless driving: License gone (forever), big fine - if you caused an accident: automatic jail term.
Blimey, they are strict!
i wonder what the penalty is for distracted driving
Think that's how it should be here in the United States too
People get away with drinking&driving way too often here
I wonder if i could be done for speeding on my mobilty scooter
Welki, lillian, all - All Japanese, at least all born in Japan, are burdened with numerous responsibilities from the day they are morn. Many of these are social responsibilities. It wouldn't work in any other culture I know of, definitely not in the US where people think only of rights and never of responsibilities (unless forced to).
scooting under the influence
not morn, born
where do you live now, jwr?
Aye, i suppose, it's natural to them
Lol Welki
The vending machines for practically everything (including casual clothing) are available everywhere. You may want to take a bottle of beer home with you, right? So you stop and buy. It would never occur to the driver to drink it.
Even clothing? wow
But why the machines when they have shops?
How can you buy clothes from a vending machine without trying it on first? I never buy any clothing without trying it.
Except for socks and underwear
Saying that shops have closing times
(i ask because i think that your comment, "definitely not in the US where people think only of rights and never of responsibilities (unless forced to)," paints americans with too broad of a brush. american born, i can tell you that social responsibility is not as uncommon as you might think in the states.
I bet U pay alot more for the convenience of the machines
Me? Last 35 years in the city of the US which also has a strong sense of social responsibility to balance its freedoms, as well as a strong Asian makeup.
I'm like you Min, i have to try on first
However, I HATE shopping for clothes so I really do not buy clothes for myself. Wait for someone to buy clothes for me
No, you pay what you would in a low-cost store. You have to remember that in most cases one size would do in Japan.
I don't live in the U.S, so i don't have a clue Jwr
<-- hates shopping.
I hate shopping too.I'm in and out so a machine would do me
Again, a size situation that wouldn't work elsewhere. -- (Lil - San Francisco).
I would much rather go to work than go shopping, any day
me, too, min
I've always wanted to go there Jwr.I want to drive down all teh hills :)
(too, many, commas, sorry, about, that)
Once I got out of jury duty early and I went back to work.I was told that I was crazy for going back to work instead of going shopping for the rest of the day.
Right, i'm diving in as i'm giving myself 15 minutes to get 63 words...nevr going to happen but i can try
You would enjoy shopping in Japan, Min. And a lot of other things. The problem is that it is incredibly expensive for foreigners.
g'night everyone - thanks for the chat, was a nice evening
I got a story of clues in my profile if you wa 4/8 to read it.
Night Welki, lovely chatting, take care hin and sleep well
Come along, Lil - Just don't use a standard shift car, especially if you're from a different-side-of-the-road country.
Ty Min, will do
Goodbye welki!I will see you tomorrow in the chog maybe.
And yes, I lived and worked there and loved every minute of it. Gotta leave myself, get ready for work (overnight job). Babble on, folks!
Lovely speaking to you Jwr, you'll have to tell us more another time.Bye and take care
Goodnight jwr!I will see you tomorrow in the chog maybe.
Ty Min, i got a few words from your story
yw
I agree.. Americans are painted with very broad strokes..
Hello rururocks! How are you doing today? Welcome to grid
hi minver.. I'm doing great.. nice day for me.. how are you.. and is your hubby better?
Better from his Pancreatitis? Yes,he has been back at work for awhile now. Thanks for asking.Glad you had a nice day
he needs to take better care of himself.. that's a pretty threatening condition
and drink lots of liquids (especially water)
<---dr. Ru
He does drink lots of water. Unfortunately he also drinks a lot of beer too. Like talking to a brick wall when it comes to his health. Some people just must learn the hard way.
oh jeez
alcohol is not a good idea with pancreatitis
anything that dehydrates the body is really bad for him
Well, he thinks since he drinks lots of water he is hydrated
wow.. he really is in denial
I told him to not expect me at his bed side during his next hospital visit. Anyway, on that note, I must go to bed. Bye!
does he eat a lot of fatty foods too? let me know if I'm being too personal..if so I'm sorry
He he eats lots of fatty foods, but has cut down quite a bit
wow.. he's a walking time bomb.. i'm sorry minver.. men can be so stupid sometimes
you sleep well.. Thanks for letting me know he came out ok
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I will see you tomorrow.
good night minver
heigh ho
hey hi doren
you are up late
had a long day... started this puppy very late. silly me
oh.. too bad ..it's a biggy.. you need minions
no, i didn't just start now... came on about an hour or two ago but doing other things in between. down to 46
i get my grandkids next weekend.. super excited... taking them to a jazz for kids concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center (in the building that houses Per Se)
big question now is do we go to the Plaza for tea at the Palm Court afterwards, or just go to Bouchon (which is in the building). i think it depends on the weather
the sensible thing sounds like Bouchon is the best option
yes it does... but having read Eloise to Phoebe a year or so ago and promising that one day we would have tea at the palm court (and having LOVED that book so much as a kid) and having nice memories of being there with my kids and dad many years ago............
well.. do the palm court then.. can you do it before?
hmm. it is such excess of food - you know. the full cream tea thing? that I think it needs to be afterward. i just think i can't make up my mind right now. I'm in a weird space.... bad exacerbation of the COPD thing today and it is screwing with my head
COPD?
yeah. i like to pretend i don't really have it, but then crap like this comes up. and there's no way to pretend today
I don't know what it is?
chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder? disease? i don't know. Chronic bronchitis.
ooh.. I didn't know that
I just thought you were breathless with my witty remarks
well, it doesn't fit in with my self-image, so i tend to deny it except when i can't
yeah.. well lots of things about me don't fit my self-image.. get over yerself
need help with anything yet?
had nice long date today starting with breakfast at farm where my CSA boxes come from (had never been there), moving onto the movie Interstellar (which i really liked) then a two hour hamburger at a diner. Punctuated by wheezing coughing fits which were most unattractive. Now have had my codeine and waiting for it all to stop. which it won't for about six weeks
I have had a cough too.. on-going.. especially when I talk on the phone
so I'm indulging in a little self-pity. I'll get over it
nah, not yet.. 34 left
ok.. i'm popping in and out .. going to fire off some emails
ty. i prob will need you
could the phone cough be because you are unconsciously holding your breath?
I don't know..
it's seems to come and go with allergies
rhinitus? not sure if i spelt it right lol
my coughing happens more when i speak too. but i don't know what that means
en8 please?
en + the end of feeling great >> I feel fan...
thanks
<direct cluing is acceptable at this time of night
:D
my mother in law had a cough for months and months, it got worse when she spoke, after chest xrays and everything else she saw a physiotherapist who specialised in chests etc and he eventually told her she was subconsciously holding her breath
what constitutes direct cluing?
that's interesting jacq
it isn't night here it's 5:31 am
I think I'm more likely to have rhinoitis .. since I'm horny a lot :D
LOL ruru
beats me .. I like to do cute clues
<----not even thinking of touching that one
best not to dorens
LOL good idea.. leave it .. keep moving on folks.. nothing to look at here
I couldn't pass up on that joke
course not. down to 14
and nearly half of them are in's
i feel squint this morning
? squint is what i do with my eyes when I can't quite see
the in's are really normal words
what does squint mean?
no squint also means leaning slightly
oh
i feel as if i am leaning
ah, but i am in such an abnormal mood
like vertigo?
are you sitting down?
should I be?
no i'm not dizzy just squint
yes am sitting down
hah! to ru.
yes ruru you should be sitting too
do you have an ear infection jacq?
no am ok but just squint, maybe see the doc today anyway
good idea
that sounds odd
unless you live on a hill or something
like a wee haggis running round the hill lol
ah well, at least the i's are done and yes jac that does seem the best thing to do
LOL jax
jac
god.. doren I found some old photos of me.. I may have to make a copy of one for you
oh yes, please do meanwhile, why on earth am I listening to Leonard Cohen? I dearly love him, but depressing? is this really what i need?
nastic
uh oh.
listen to good old fashioned disco, always makes me happy
2
there seems to be some sort of masochistic streak going here
god my ex loved leonard cohen
I think he is depressing
perfectly capable of playing cheerful upbeat music, but revelling in the pathos
she loved laura nyro too who is even more depressing
well, i would fit in just perfectly in the middle of that relationship. i love him and he IS depressing.
but no, never nyro
well it's down to the up6
to bring up a baby up 6
thanks silly word, but it did bring up the fireworks
sounds kind of kinky otherwise
congrats.. I hope you feel better..
ah, that's just you being ru
I did a joke earlier and it went over like a lead balloon
me too. ty, but unfortunately i know better. these things just always drag on for seemingly ever.
I think it was Nan.. LOL
what was the balloon?
i mean what was the joke?
yes
yes? that was the joke?
she asked for a clue and I said I think Up and ass
the codeine is getting to me
trying to HELP her of course
oh good lord. you are incorrigible
:D.. I have a reputation to uphold
i can send you some tramadol if the codeine doesn't work
I love pulling her chain.. she's got a great sense of humor
usually
hah ru. and thanks jac but i think you'd get in trouble for that and between the ex who is an MD, my kid who is an MD and my own doctor who is a sweetie, I think i should be able to get my own. anyway, g'night all and be happy
night x
oh no. was about to shut computer, but now Suzanne came on. that's just a lovely one
good nite ms. D
