ro4, you are in the grid :D
{{hugs}} dearest sprite. how are you? how is tim?
*hugs rose* Hello dear friend.
I am ok, am getting my energy back little by little. Tim is healing up. Eye is less swollen, abrasions look less angry. I think the op is on for Monday, as far as I can judge things.
when will you know for certain?
Monday, lol. We have an appointment with the surgeon at 8 am, and that is when he will decide.
so tim will be fasting again?
yes. Good thing the surgeon had the appt moved from 4 pm to 8 am. Tim would have had a bear of a mood if he had to fast until 4 pm.
hi again, couldn't sleep so back for a few more words
g'day flosey
aw poor flosey :( I read you were so very tired. How awful you cannot sleep.
hope all goes smoothly from here on, Sprite. That kind of shock really rattles everyone's nerves, doesn't it
mind won't stop churning around, just thought of someone I should send an email to, so here I am again
it does. And it takes a little while to all get settled again, I guess.
I know that feeling. Not at all pleasant.
Rose, how are you today?
sorry hun, squirrel in the form of a don....lol. i'm okay. have filled out all the admission paperwork for new pain doctor.
a little tired still from last night. had a ball, laughed a lot, cried a bit. great fo4.
good job! May it be blessed this time, rose.
do hope you get one who really knows his 'stuff' rose
Hi all :)
{{hugs}} liz girl
Agree with flosey :)
and how did the goodbye dinner go, rose? Did they give you a good farewell?
hi Liz
Hugs to you all
hi Liz :) *hugs* for you and your love.
thanx liz and flosey. yeah, i have worked with this guys patients post-op.
Good that things sound a bit better with Tim, too.
thanks Liz :)
Hope you sleep,soon, Flisey.
sprite, i wasn't allowed to pay for anything. treated like royalty...lol
Flosey - sorry, clumsy iPad fingers.
awww how sweet, rose :) And very deserved too.
another nurse was there who has just been given the same treatment as i have had. she was still very fragile, poor thing.
Sounds. Like you had a wonderful evening. So good you got a chance to have a proper goodbye.
which of your treatments did she live through, rose?
I assumed the work treatment!
hehehe I did assume the same thing, then realised it could have been a myriad of things. Since our rose has been through the wringer so much.
True.
i was given a new indoor plant called an arthurium, and is very pretty. plus a rather nice gift card for one of our larger stores. looking forward to spending it.
what fun, rose
sweet gi4s, rose.
How nice of them.
liz assumed correctly, as you too, sprite. yeah...employer has sacked her.
It does leave you fragile.
although my closest friend at work wanted to actually buy something for me, the girls wanted to give the ot5 nurse a gift of money, and she didn't want there to be any obvious difference.
it does. It is so hurtful to discover that all you have put in is disregarded and your employer only looks at the money, and doesn't look out for you at all.
anja, from work, hand-made our cards which made them very special.
wise decision. And now you get to choose and pick :)
:)
and yes, sprite, she is of dutch extract....lol...which is why i know you so well...
oh, how sweet! Good mementos, rose. of the things that really count... your relationship with your coworkers.
*giggles* Good soil, that dutch soil...
i was stunned. every message was signed with love, and that i will be missed. several times i was called 'darling'. moved me so much
I've got 85 words left and only just noticed I don't have NBT. How weird is that?
you touched many hearts there, rose.
lol Liz, happens to me often! Some tiles are just little devils.
That doesn't surprise me - you were obviously well liked and well regarded.
i didn't realise sprite. i just treated everyone with respect and politeness.
that in itself is a rare thing nowadays, rose. You are a beautiful person. *hugs*
And that's why, Rose.
oh gosh i have to tell you. while filling out the admission forms? i was asked to write in my height, weight and waist circumference. i wrote 153 cm, ***kgs, and LOL, what waist?
roflolololllll omg :D
Lolol
they will laugh so hard there
Good to make them laugh.
are well...i guess i had better measure it before i go in....lol....wonder if i can stick two tape measures together...
Don't exaggerate!
not really pertinent to your issues, rose... let them measure it if they think it matters.
ooohhh, yum, don is home with dinner. combination egg noodles, lemon chicken and steamed rice. * dribble*
Bon appetit
enjoy, sweetie :)
will check in, in between courses. xoxox
Not long for dinner here too - roar chicken.
we might have another -ing grid soon, by the looks of it.
Roast
roar chicken? Roflol.
I love chicken. In almost any form.
I also laughed.
"I am chicken, hear me roar!"
Visions of it roaring as it went in the oven! Gruesome.
Lol
think I'm ready for sleep now, goodnight again
hehehe we have this little dutch song about an egg that talks and begs its 'owner' to not break it for an omelet... asking: "What if it were your little brother that you would slide into the pan?" It ends with the chicken being born, mocking the owner it wasn't his little brother at all... and the owner eating very young chicken with ri4 :)
night flosey, sleep well.
Sleep,well Flosey.
Lol sprite. So warped!
tyty
very much so :)
petri dish are two separate words, right? It won't take petri :(
Won't take looter either - a word we used in science lessons.
Pooter*
but that may be because the P doesn't sit next to the O? Or is your spell checker giving you hell again?
Didn't mean in this grid - just thinking enable doesn't like science lessons ;)
Time for me to go - have a lovely day. Hugs
too true, lol. And bye Liz, have a good evening. Hugs for you and your husband.
firc h
sorry about that :(
ah, not valid anyway. Slightly less sorry then.
back.....
wb my darling :)
how was your dinner?
apart from rice being too dry, yummy fo4. don't think we'll order that again.
bummer about the ri4. But glad you enjoyed the re4, ro4.
what is on today for you?
quite a bit, alas. laundry, shopping, cooking, tim, terra. And tonight, that is the good part, comes my friend Cobi and she will stay till Mondy.
+ an A somewhere
lol....hope cobi can help you to have some time to rest.
yes she will. We can work very well together, and we can laze about together even better.
right sort of friend to have, my darling
she is :D I am planning to watch your movie with her this weekend.
knitting in hand, drinks within reach, feet up, movie on :)
oh, i do so hope you both enjoy it. just remember ....green banans....lol
lolllll
*bananas*
I got that part, grin. Ok, green bananas. No, monkeys, don't touch.
when is cobi actually going to be there?
just emailed her to ask. Somewhere after dinner, most likely.
now to just get through the day without too much frazzlement.
yeah, that will be a challenge. I need something extremely easy to cook, that is for sure. Hm... soup and sandwiches are an option!
that is what I am gonna do. I am gonna make us a huge pan of soup. Pumpkin soup maybe. And buns and nice stuff to go on them. Done.
spahetti, jar of ready made napoli sauce, to which you an appropriate amount of cooked mince meat and extra onion.
ohh yeah. i want what she's having....lol
be a dear, pop an 'add' in there somewhere...lol
also an option. And lol! Next spring/summer, darling. I'll cook you anything you want.
will do, grin
yay, found the running bird!
forgotten plurals galore
well done sprite
fireflies. Great grid.
WTG SPRITE!!!
now remember...as a wonderful friend once said to me...little steps and frequent re5. xoxox and {{hugs}}
hehehe I love ya, rose. *hugs* right back. Sleep well tonight and have a lovely day tomorrow!
enjoy your time with cobi, dear one. hope the boyo can be left to his own devices for a bit.
is anybody still here? My timing has been off for two days.
good morning everyone
crossy? are you here?()or even there?)
Hello, Ruby :-)
{{zzoozz}}
How is the decorating going?
My kitchen is finished, missing only the little hooks, lost somewhere, for hanging one of the 4 cleaned drapes
We got everything put back up this morning : tableaux, decorative plates, etc. and it is beautiful
How about the orange wall-paper.Is it the orange you wanted ? or does it still look too dark?
That sounds wonderful, Ruby.I am glad it all panned out well!
next, the upstairs. But he won't start that 'til next week
So you have a week of respite..lol
It basically looks the same as I haven't changed the color scheme, but it is fresh and bright
That is all good then!
The colors were very complex and carefully planned to go with the granite and the cabinetry, so nobody would even see any difference
As my dear mother used to ssay" So 25 yrs of art school didn't go to waste", teasing me while I did dopey arts and crafts projects
lol Nothinh dopey about doing arts & crafts.
half, yay
Good going, Ruby!
((ruby)) howdy zooz
I have found 162 words now yet still not got the lone S
Hello, Croosy :-)
Crossy*
Snowed in yet, Crossy?
Nope:)) we are in the groove now. Six feet of snow on the ground and it is a winter wonderland, but the road crews are doing a great job and they are frantically grroming all of that snow on the mountain to get the skiiers going.
grooming
Nice when all the services work well.
Yes, when this system first hit it caught many by surprise and I ended up doing several phamacy runs for people in the building whose cars were trapped in the parking lot
I see in the USA I think it is Buffalo has been hit with a hell of a lot of snow a month early.
Yup, Buffalo got the worst of it
You are a very kind man, Crossy!
thats us zooz....snow snow and more snow..plow has nowhere to put the snow in our driveway..i havent looked outside yet , becuz if my car is covered again i will break into tears!
I felt bad for them. You could see th main road had been somewhat cleared, but there they were with snow up to the door handles of their cars.
((Ivesy)) Sorry you are having such horrid weather.
poor ivesy:(
but i have food, heat, coffee and (smokes) .library has been closed since tues....
At least you have some provisions so that is good.Have they said if there is a thaw on the way? Or is it there to saty for a while?
Stay*
supposed to get up to 55 degrees sun/mon..then we will have floods..
Yes i was about to say if there is a thaw on the way I hope the drainage system is all clear.
A bit selfish I know..But I hope the cold snap does not pop over here.
not selfish. i would be hoping same thing lol
and now coffee....bbs
Stay warm, Ivesy.
it would actually be better if our forecasted thaw next week does not happen. Everything is getting organized bit by bit and we can just slide into our full winter mode till April
Thats the thing, Crossy. I can imagine no sooner has the thaw happened then the next set of cold fronts will do there bit and dump snow all over again.
that's
interesting... Today our temp is to drop from minus 10c to minus 14c and the wind chill is set to reach minus 25c...brrr
do not sweat the minute punctuation corrections, zooz, i will not pounce all over you on it.
Wow that is cold..I am greatful our temps are about 14c
The sea beeze this time of the year keeps our coastal temperatures up by a few degrees :-)
lol...wait.. I had it set for Nunavut forecast....
minus 4 c for us but lake-effect squalls are due and will give us 5-7 more inches of the white stuff
Bring it on. The snowshoes are all ready to go:)
Still cold to me, Crossy..lol
I just need some cherry whiskey i can carry in a wine-skin when i head out:))
About the puctuation, Crossy, I know but I am trying to type better puctuation. No where near perfect. But I like to try..lol
LOL Crossy you are mad..lol
We used to always carry cherry whiskey up north then snowmobiling because the stuff never, ever freezes. At need you can squeeze it out like toothpaste
Punctuation* Geez got a ong way to go..lol
Oh I give up.
lol, I am the prez of the typo club:)
LOL that I would like to see.. Whiskey coming out like toothpaste!
at minus 48c it does just that:)
and my beard freezes due to the exhalation of my breath. i once broke my beard by trying to get the ice out of it without letting it thaw a bit first:))
I had a beardsicle:)
lol
So glad we do not get temps like that here.I would not survive.
I say the same to my brother in las vegas. I would die in temps of 115f!
Oh no the hotter the better for me.I love hot weather :-)
anything over... let say 80f and I and a cooked Canada goose;)
hehe I think I prefer temps about 30+
30c+
Finally found the lone S..lol
I swear I tried the correct word several times.
Good morning all.
Hello, Sukee :-)
howdy sukee
Going to the gym today, Sukee?
I am...
Missed it on Wednesday due to the weather
Well you will have to do an extra turn on the rowing machine :-)
cooee and g'day from me. just popping in to say hello to you.
I do not need the gym. If I want exercise, I can just go out and shovel more snow:)
The worst of our storm seems to be over, hopefully all the snow will be gone by Monday.
((rose))
Hello, Rose :-)
oh, my, crossy...saw pics of the latest snowfall over there.
Hi Rose
Buffalo got it bad...
8 feet of snow, I can't imagine
{{hugs}} crossy. {{hugs}} zooz. {{hugs}} sukee
How are you, Rose?
i am praying that you all keep safe, my friends. what a snowfall. pics of cars with 4 feet of snow on their rooves. houses in snow almost up to their eaves.
We escaped the worst of it, got about an inch at the most.
Or maybe 2 inches :)
zooz. i had my retirement party last night. it was wonderful to be able to say good-bye properly.
Nice one, Sukee..Crossy got quite a bit where he is.
also very sad. those girls were my ot5 family.
Awww that is sweet, Rose.Glad you had a wonderful time.Bet there was a few tears though ((Rose))
Yes, where I am we miss the worst of it, London which is close always gets hit harder.
yeah, zooz. lots of laughter and a few tears. one woman in particular i have worked with for nearly 20 years. it was very difficult.
you would think it is summer all year round here, Sukee. Not often it gets below zero C here.
It is good you had that party Rose. I never even got to say goodbye to most people I worked with at my last job.
Okay zoom, I'll come visit next Winter :)
and that is not go4 for you sukee. we need to have closure on important parts of our lives.
Yes I remember you talking about her before.I am sure you have each ot5's address to keep in touch though, Rose.
yes zooz. we move onto the next stage in our lives. friendship which withstands the trials of life...i think we qualify.
But, I do keep in touch with a couple of people from there.
zooz, she is very close to retirement also. just not forced to it, as i was.
Does she live near by, Rose? that would be good when she retires to go to a cafe or something and have a good ole natter and catch up on good times.
unfortunately no, zooz. she lives on an island, which although accessible via a bridge, is about 3 hours drive away. but as i am no longer constrained...
here, as in many places I imagine, it is amazing what a distance of a mere 200k makes in terms of snowfall. Sukee,as I recall is just 180k or so south of me and she got a dusting while were are just a foot or so behind Buffalo;)
Shame..Still if she is tech savvy like you are. You both could always skype!
oh, gosh, crossy.
Well, look at Buffalo. Half of the city got smothered in snow, the rest was barely touched.
Buffalo still takes home the fair-day goose however;)
i have her email addy, zooz, and her phone number. she has invited don and i down to stay.
That's weather for you..lol
that is nice then, Rose!
Yup, if it was the same all the time we would still be complaining about it
meanwhile, we are baking...with a humidity of 80%. *gasp*
Well, I could go without snow :)
Like me you mean, Crossy..lol I always moan about our weather and it is no where near as bad as many many places.
Hi all :)
Hello, Liz :-)
Hi Liz
i am guessing you all have to live with snow too much. for me...it is still a novelty...even at my tender age of over 60....lol
Friendships, I find, are best when they are of a type that you can pick up after a span of days, month or even years apart. When you get together again, you laugh easier, you understand one another, and it feels as if no time has passed at all:)
Brrrr! Snow :(
ummm, hey liz. i'm still here, gi4.
Sigh, I would love for snow to be a novelty.
Getting late there in Melbourne isn't it?
Always good to see you though.
Rose is burning the midnight oil!
exactly crossy. which i am glad to say what exists between lizlin, puglet, sprite, rubyfoo and myself.
I must move there. I should get a discount in every bar:)
lol zooz
I think that is a saying..lol
midnight oil....great band....
Very true Rose - talking of which, I must email pugs before I go to bed.
Yes :)
Oh haha it is a band also!
oh, dear...did i just age myself?
Yes, I like Midnight Oil too - good group. Only heard of them since moving here.
They had a big hit in the 80s
Okay time to youtube them and see what they sound like.
i already did so, liz...email puglet i mean...poor darling..
Didn't the lead singer go into politics?
Yes, he did
Poor Pugs - but then again, things are starting to turn around for her too - hope this continues.
ahhh, of course...peter garrett...yes...he went into politics.
Just listened to them. They sound okay :-)
I liked his voice.
Stats for the bottom corner s pls?
SE 4/5
Thanks, zooz
took me ages to get it.Yet it has been in the grid many times before.I swear i enetered the word several times before it took.
I've now only got 74 left - but finally, thanks to you, have nbt!
Good going, Liz!
Took me a while to remember to spell the yellow colour oc5 the US way!
And to reverse the last two letters :-)
I always miss the odd spellings
True - but I had the UK spelling already - took me ages to think about the letter reversal.
there, now have both versions:)
lol
WTG crossy
okay...have been to the loo, scrubbed the teeth, taken the pills, and now have managed to ease the rings off the finger... *yawn*
So, bright and shiny now?
you take your rings off each night?
oh...and 'jammies on...
Are you off on hols tomorrow or Sunday?
sunday, liz. tomorrow is full on, as you can imagine.
Just seeing the word yawn you wrote, Rose, Made me yawn..lol
Can imagine indeed.
But take it as easy as you can.
oh, dear, zooz
Oooh have a wonderful time on your holidays, Rose!
just 6 nights and 7 days, zooz. but i am hoping it will invigorate both of us.
I have had my wedding band on for almost 22 years now. Would need to cut my finger off to remove it now as i am a tad huskier than i was when i took the vow:)
A different scene is just as good as a rest.
I have never worn any type of jewelry.
good for you, crossy. unfortunately, under my egagement ring, which is welded in between my wedding band and my eternity ring, i seem to develop a rather nasty itchy rash.
poor rose:( My beloved also gets an under-the-ring rash
That
i think some bugs must congregate there, and multiply.
Me neither zoom, other than one period when I loved Swatch watches :)
That's nasty, Rose.
Yuck!
Could it be sweat rash?
Swatch watches wow do they still make those?
I remember the Swatch craze:) I was into the Swiss Army watches at the time
Well, that was in the 80s
no, zooz. when i take it off, i can see some sort of gunge under the stone.
Have you had the ring cleaned - not just water, i mean.
Then taking it off at bedtime sounds like the right choice to me.Maybe get the ring cleaned.
yes, liz. it has been ultrasonically cleaned.
Snap, Liz!
Great minds - again!
zooz, i take it off each night, clean it, and put it back on in the am.
What about some sort of disinfectant - on a regular basis - for the ring, not your finger.
I wonder if a jeweler can remove the stone from the mounting and clean underneath it for you, rose?
i am trying to build up the skin integrity by applying vitamin e cream every night. it seems to help.
Could try a different ring just for a few days to see if it still does it?
nice idea, zooz. but my wedding band, engagement ring and eternity ring are the only ones i have.
If you wear them around your neck, would the finger irritation clear up? And would it recur when you put the ring back on?
Yay I found the 9!..I found the 9!
liz, love...i did that...and tonight after 3 days, and wearing the rings for just today....the rash is back.
Yay, Zooz :)
whoot!!! yay zooz
B*gger!
strange!!! not what i said...lol
lol
good for you zoom
Teehee!
44 left for later. I am off to get some grub.Nice to see you all :-) toodle pips for now!
Have a good day zooz
Rose if I do not see you in the chog before hand.Have a great holiday :-)
zooz...did i tell you? DH has saved up enough for us both to visit spain, france, italy, belgium, holland and the uk?
thanx zooz, mate.
Glad there's enough money for both of you ;)
*giggle* liz...yeah!!
You're going to have such an amazing time.
what would be even more amazing is iif you and the other half could be there at the same time as pugs and i.
That would be unbelievable but it's not going to happen - NZ in the early part of the year - then nothing planned until the exchange rate drastically improves for us!
ugh, liz. well, i'll be happy to meet and greet you both...
45 words left and the other half is suggesting bed! Who am I to refuse such an offer?
roflol...never say no, liz.
I can dream - and I'm sure we will meet.
You'll have to get Pugs over here - Sprite and Ruby too :)
we will liz. it will take some planning but the five of us will be in the same place at the same tims.
ugh...time...
Wow! Stuff of dreams - that would be awesome. Only 10.25 here - but it's that time! Hugs Rose.
now that's a thought, liz...must work on that....
Have a good day everyone else :)
{{hugs}} liz girl. sleep well, dear.
You too - sleep well.
Cleaning rings in gin make them sparkly AND clean!

Hello and good morning to all
hi car
hello car...
re gi** is not a word. I've done it
Rose, I don't know if you are still here but a thin layer of clear nail varnish on the inside of the rings might help. It keeps the metal off your skin. Rubbing your finger with an antihistamine cream might help too.
Hello dear friends.
hello trif and jaxx
Hi Trif!
hi jaxx, Trif

phantom: rhetoric
Yay lunch!
I LEGGED it out to the car and hid it. Then I did tell the principal it happened, just to cover my bases. She was so cute. She said "I think in order to buy my silence you need to surrender the bottle"
What is Fireball?
You can make your own Fireball, it's really good.
cinnamon flavored whiskey, godthaab
Ah!
It's like whiskey flavored Red Hots

Hello from snow country south of Buffalo.

Sorry, I gave a clue for the or 4/5 as a bad ass in LOTRT. It is a bad creature in Lord of the Rings Trilogy
phantom word, rhetoric
I don't know why regift isn't a word...we do it all the time
several people have mentioned that, me included
lol...guess I should read back in the chog
I am sort of snowed in--driving ban in my town. But I will need to shovel snow off my front deck and stairs.
I hope your town gets plowed out soon
One town has gotten 85 inches of snow since Tuesday. We have 22.
That's plowable for your town, 85, I can't imagine. But, how can emergency vehicles vehicles get by
Frontloaders have to scoop up snow, put it in dump trucks, then the snow is trucked away.

Hi RB! How are you?
working hard, 10, 12 hourw a day--for Vol 4--and have to have pacemaker replaced right after Thanksgiving, the battery is wearing down. So a small operation unless they mess up a wire. How are you? (You got my postcard??)
hi all. help with the 9 pls. I have one 8. the en8/50 that I found myself

I bought it, RB. You really don't have to comp me with one, they are worth the price.
I have an re7/36. I hope that is only one
That I don't know peri; I've only found 1 so far
s a fun detail about one of the words I found myself--when PTBarnum found the big top too crowded he put up a sign "To the eg****" and people found themselves outside.
the re7 I have is remorse, is that the one?
good one RB
no, but RB just gave a clu for the re7/36 you need

I hope they have a good place to go, Nef. It will be easier on you. The summer was mixed--good trip to Norway with granddaughter (her abby due in Feb--and another suicide--ex-son in law, but my 12 yr old grandson found the body. So things are a great jumble and much not taken care of.
yw, mkg
Sorry to hear that, RB.
any clues for that 9? or the 7?
Details on both our sides, Nef--I should phone. And will, before long.
the 9 builds on the 7, to go backword. the 9 is the one who does backward.
Yes, we do need to catch upsetter than here, RB
what does the 9 do backwards? i dont get it.
I meant for the clue, GOES backward.
sorry, on the phone there. That should have been catch up Better
Once it's backward, O I don't know what it does. Go back to nappies? Or a forgotten lisp? You name it.
RB, when do you give yourself a break? And how late are you up?
nappies???????huh?
can you just clue this please to me. re and then what? thanks
diapers not in grid.
mkg, re 7 means to go backwards, (maybe like senile?); then the re 9 is the person who does it
nappies are what diapers are in England. If you re**** you might forget your toilet training--or even on purpose, if you're mad about something. Adults can re**** all the time. I'm making up stories in my head.
it used to be that people would be hypnotized to re7 to a certain traumatic event
go backwards as in run backwards? or turn the clock back? i guess i dont see third letter possiblility.
eg 6/24 is eg****. Put an R in front of it for the 7/36
It's the opposite of progress.
ty got it. ty very much/
And I'm sorry, but I need to leave now (broke a tooth, getting a crown put on at 1:20 now)

made vegetarian sloppy joes for dinner. I have made it before and it is very good.
no G&T today :( still no gin. but I am ok without it
I will buy some more soon.
Sloppy joe Peri?
Can you not get the gin Peri?
yes, it is usually a mixture made with beef or other meat and placed over hamburger rolls.
I need to pay off some of my bills, lil. no money for gin at the moment
Oh great> Soodle is dry, now Peri is dry. I guess soon everyone here will be knitting and drinking tea.
I do drink tea but no knitting here
So is it a beef pattie(meat burger)put on a roll? we say hamburgers but we have beefburgers/patties on a roll.Sorry to hear you can't have your gin, if it didn't cost so much to send or could get broken, i'd send you a big bottle
no it is a mixture made with meat, onions, garlic tomato sauce, red/green pepper. cooked and then put over the buns
I used Portobello mushrooms instead of meat
I'm having a small glass of white wine as i've had my tea quota(nearly pb, but who cares) for the day
of thanks lill re the gin. you are sweet. I will manage
of really mean oh
104 left, bbl
i make those Peri either with beef mince or pork mince but i also add mushrooms and herbs
Now i can call them sloppy joes and confuse the bairn :)
No, they are not hamburgers. It is hamburger meat with tomato sauce, onions, green pepper and seasonings. Hence the "sloppy" part of what it's called.
I don't understand the sloppy bit.Do you shape it and cook it, if so, there's nowt sloppy about it, apart from the mixture when your mixing it together
No shaping. It comes out a lava like consistency.
You pour it over a bun.
The eating is the sloppy part.
Very good, though.
Ah, i see, thanks hego and hi
Since you mix the meat with sauce, it cannot be shaped into a bun.
hi Lill :)
I was getting confused with the tomato sauce,as in you make a sauce with tomatoes and other things, like a wet sauce(i know that sounds thick) but i was thinking tomato ketchup or puree which i add to my mixture sometimes and make like patties
kids love these.
I bet they do because it's messy and they won't be told off
The meat is fried crumbled , drain the grease and then you add the other stuff. Simmer for awhile. Put it on a bun ...yum.
people like to make them for parties because you can make the stuff way ahead.
basically, it is how we would make our spaghetti bolognaise sauce
but thicker
Well, i've never had one but would love to try
Ty Story and hi
We mainly use ketchup w/ a dab of mustard here. I spice it up a little. :)
Hi. LOL
And you can make them any way you like, as story just said.
Back. Hi kids.
I like mustard. My favourite is diijon, wholegrain or plain
hi snow lady
Hi Scrabs, nice to see you
Hi Scrabs, how goes the shoveling
I went for a nice walk earlier. I has been snowing for about 3 hrs.
Are you snowed in Scrabs?
MORE!!
I shoveled the front steps and I found my buried recycling container.
The garbage truck was supposed to come Wed but cannot get through yet.
I don't understand the re 8 word, the clue about snakes
When we had 3 feet of snow, the garbage was piling up at our house
No, sloppy joes are nothing like spaghetti sauce
I did re-clue it Bichon and said that someone who draws back in fear
ty lili
yw hin
re - the shape a snake curls up in...sounds like the tin wrap Rwynolds makws
Or Reynolds
Molly, i meant the tomato sauce was similar
It's just culture clash. Here, tomato sauce and ketchup are two different things
Some people here put in chopped peppers and even bacon.we all make things differently.i never follow a recipe completely as there are things i don't like.
I know, i make a tomato sauce out of tinned chopped tomatoes or pasata
pasata?
Bolognese in Europe is very thick with all the liquid cooked out. Not so different from the sloppy joe consistency.
pssato is strained tomatos
It's basically a tomato sauce which isn't lumpy and all seeds drained
*strained
called because it is passed thru a food mill.
no seeds or peels
ok that's tomato paste here
I would say sieve hego :)
it's condensed too
no, our tamato paste is ina tube and thicker
no, condensed is puree
ok then it's tomato puree
my we sure have differences of opinion here about tomatos
I know, i typed the same time as you Bich.yes, tomato puree
You can buy in most supermarkets here under the Pomi name. It's very nice for sauce.
We also call it condensed, well when it says that on a tin, but it normally comes in tube and says puree, which is the same as condensed basically
And you can buy many, many ready made pasta sauces
Americans are not really familiar with passato.
Just strained tomatos really.
Yes, we have loads here too Bichon, but i always make my own
Homemade is best
Yes Hego.I bought some today in a carton for 50p as sometimes i don't want lumpy tomatoes in things
I find that the store made ones have too much salt and sugar
you say tomato, I say tomahto.. let's call the whole thing off.. ;))
I think so, as then i know exactly what is in it and majority of the ingredients are fresh
It's a nice product to have on hand.
Tomatoes are just delicious!
I have made my own tomato sauce as in cooked down tomatoes and sieved but it can be time consuming
lol, hi Crossy
Hi Crossy :)
How cold is it there, Crossy?
not too cold, scrabby, about minus 5 c, and we got a total of 4 1/2 feet of the white stuff
We have 26 inches and more coming down, but warm temps are coming.
warm temps here for Monday as well, but it would be better if it did not happen. everything is organized now and we are in our winter mind-set. last thing we need is flooding
Fireworks! Would anyone like a clue before i go and make some Christmas decorations?
No thanks, fa la la la la and all that

Not "Hilarious" molly. it is quite simple; you take five feet of snow on Friday, and you add plus 14 Celsius on the following Monday and you have floods and roofs collapsing under the weight of waterlogged snow build-up. Buffalo is also bracing for this, not just Canadians:)
Think this grid is a miss for me today. Perhaps tomorrows will be better. Take care all, and happy babbling.

You can always turn off chat if you don't want to see the clues.
oh i know that....but i did want the stats for the 9....
Always good laughs in chat. I often find it amusing when someone doesn't want a clue, and yet clues the word as soon as they get it. : D

fun with a capital F
(needed room for dogs and golf clubs)
no room in this thing
it's tiny
i'd bet that turbo gets you going FFFFFAST

be nice to let it go on the pacific coastal highway

Haven't done that yet. I need a blond first

you already have a blonde with red highlights
she doesn't need to come lubricated
ty welki, I never see that word
*whistles*
that actually sounded worse than what I meant :D

you need to work on that, the 'innocent look,' because from here, innocent is not what's coming across *lol*
I used to like this grid..
not crazy about it either and i have a ways to go

YAY, pen!!! WTG!!!
(And hi again everybody!)
hello friends. How are all your loved ones today Nef? I hope all is well
well, DH is okay; the son pulled a back muscle and the grandson has an ear ache (not infected -yet; had him to the Minute Clinic a few hours ago)
can anybody clue the fi6/30?
And I'm slow; (didn't sleep much with a kid with an ear ache last night.)
earaches hurt so much. I feel badly for you both.
Dan it is a plural of the 4,8 before it.
sorry dan1, I don't have it yet
good evening all!
ty bugs I thought I tried that - 2 to go
hi phand. join the group
and I'm sorry again, dan2. Not sure how I mis-typed that!
hi phan. How are you doing these days?
the go6 after "most silly" ?
a kind of column or old fashioned spooky movie
fo 6,36, please?
Thanks, Bugsaw!
thanks bugs and all cluers - firewords
YAY, dan2bit!!! WTG!!!
fo6/36 ends like a cu6/36 beating stick
or like a hair product
thank, finally saw it.
3/4 of what you eat + hair goop, Bugs
how about cr 5,6, 7 words. I am blind for sure
can't see anything even with MOrewords
testy, add vowel, and testier, bugs
cr 5/12 + when you have tears streaming down your face in sadness
thanks seain looking
oh I get it now!
:)
cr 5/12 = a water cr*** salad
i found those because you posted, so thank you, bugs
and another 5,12 means cranky or testy as Seain told us Nef
still looking, Bugs. I'll find it once I learn to spell what I'm thinking I'm spelling!
you can cr5 it off your list once you find it, nef :)
ain't that the truth!
LOL! I got it finally
I don't gfive the best clues but that was a good one
I think all clues are helpful (unless they involve a foreign language)
shtetl, schtetl, shtetel....
Huh, seain?
looking that up now............
foreign language, three spellings, hard to clue :)
they are that but sometimes the simplest words are hard for me to clue because I kind of think sideways sometimes
another bit of Yiddish found in American English, but with less frequency as that language dies and memory of WWII fades.
and I always think that Yiddish was only spoken in New York and the northeast area. Only heard it on TV here
I've never heard Yiddish here; but then again I don't know it at alll
and I hope that the memory of WWII never fades, seain
Yidish is one of the languages in my family. Though from Bremen, so instead of standard 'oy gevalt' it's 'oy vey fer shimmel'. :)
which translates to....
me too, Nef, but eventually it'll be as distant as the 100 years war.
Where is Bremen?
oy gevalt -- roughly an incredulous 'oh brother'.
NE Germany
sorry, NW Germany duh.
between Netherlands and Denmark
I thot that was oy vey
Thanks. I don't think I've ever heard of it before.
oy vey is regular, oy gevalt is emphatic.
Oy gevalt, the House voted to repeal the Healthcare Act again, while we want for jobs still.
So what does "oy vey fer shimmel" mean?
about the same as oy gevalt, but less polite :)
my heritage is Gaelic. My grandmother called me an eejit child.
when we did something stupid, my great-grandma with native Hungarian and Slovak, would say 'What are you, a dumb condenser?"
we've no clue where she tog that from, but we know what she meant. :)
exactly. Took me years to figure out she meant idiot
LOL bugs
cute stories, you 2! :-)
I thot it was a term of endearment
LOL!
i'm sure it was, bugs, for she knew full well by then most of what children generally would and would not know. :)
I am sure it was too. I called my kids and now the kids I tutor "wee beasties" and they love it.
I hate re words
we were never called dumb or stupid. The worst thing I was ever called was "slow enough to make a saint swear"
I love that Nef altho I would never use it
*I* don't use it either. And it was always just me that they said that about (because I was always the last one; so it fit)
I remember having an arguement with another kid about whether "Hells Bells" was swearing or not. I was sure it wasn't because my Dad said it all the time and he was perfect
LOL!
I'm trying to think about what my Grandmother and Aunt would call my siblings. My younger sister was called "Slamhammer Jones" (she could never close a door quietly), and a brother was called a "Hammer head Norwegian" (his head was kind of long and bumpy); but I can't remember what the others were called
My poor brother was called Speed becuase he was the slowest moving person on earth. I don't he has ever even walked fast.
I like Slammhammer Jones. It has a ring to it.
my mom's initials are LAG an she does.
If we camped in the bathroom too long (ie long enough to miss helping with the dishes) we were called Biffelia, because we were in the biffy so long
We had a weekend together (the 6 of us that grew up together, the 2 half-sibs didn't make it). And she Still can't close a door without slamming it.
that is important too seain. We decided not to call one son Evan Thomas because he would en dup being ET
my mom was born with LAS :)
well, I was later diagnosed with hypothyroid and then (at the age of 21) diagnosed with narcolepsy; so we now know why I was so slow
her and her siblings were LAS, LES, and LAS, now LAG, LES, and LAS. :)
indeed, nef!
You did have it ruff didn't you Nef? wow
I don't think that made life rough, Bugs. It's kind of funny now
it's so nice when we get to the point we can laugh about stuff.
ok now, but then it must have bugged you
and i'm enjoying chatting, but need must sleep.
g'night/day and happy babbling, yall!
good to chat with you again seain. sweet dreams. I have 3 left and will soon be off too
Not really. I couldn't understand why I was slow; now I realize I must have been asleep part time
Niters, Seain. Take Care
Did they let you drive as a teen Nef?
no; I didn't get my driver's License until I bought my first car (at 21, before I was diagnosed)
that must have been scary when you realized you could have been asleep at the wheel
we really didn't have a car that would have passed the driver ed. inspection I don't think
Bugs, I could tell a lot of silly stories; but not here.
clue for the 9/66
I am sure we will meet one day Nef and we will still have lots of stories to share. I am done now so soon off.
The one I will tell is the time it took me 12 hours to drive from Grand Forks, ND to Winnepeg, Manatoba.
Good Nite, Bugs. I hope we do meet some day!
re 9,6 i8s the person who goes backwards after having gone forward
Matches, the 9 builds off the re 7/36
At least you were pulling off the road to sleep to make it last that long Nef. I am looking forward to hearing more. Good nite all
I don't have either 7/36
do you have the eg6/24? add an R to the start of it
eg 6/24 + the way out of a building
(that should have been an = instead of an +)
ty got that
t

got the os 7, now only need the re 7/32 last one
to make a point for your team.... again !!

You're welcome ! I just got fireworks too, my last word being the material that an underslip is made from :-)
YAY, Matches!!! WTG!!!
YAY, diane!!! WTG!!!
Hi to both of you.... and goodnight as well. It's been a long day and I am off to bed. :-)
