Just heard they are going to make homeowners clean the sidewalk in front of their homes in winter. However, I thought that was already expected.
since the sidewalk is a public thing, how do they figure that out?
I thought it was the sidewalk right in front of your house.
mind you...over here we have grass verges in front of our homes....and it is our responsibilty to keep the grass cut.
Here, you are liable if some one injures themselves on the portion of sidewalk directly in front of your home or business
We're required to clear snow, ice, and debris from the sidewalks adjacent to our properties here.
if I were required to clear my driveway I'd move...but then you don't get a drive like this in the city
I thought that was the law here too. Most people actually do though.
but the actual footpaths are the responsibility of our local council
got a feeling if a person slips outside your house that's bad luck but if you clear it and then they slip you are liable
Just the public area has to be cleaned, I think it's just common courtesy. Of course, I live in an apartment and don't have to worry about it.
Unless said sidewalk is in actual disrepair, then you nudity public works and the onus is on them until it is repaired.

Where i live the Virginia Dept of Transportation builds and maintains sidewalks, but property owners are responsible for clear them and notifying VDOT when repairs are needed outside of normal repair schedules.

the one better thing about the tassimo is that you can completely drain them. no way of totally emptying out the reservoir on keurigs
I saw an old one with a drain button, but the new ones don't have that.

heh - i still have my farberware percolator and a couple of stovetop percs as well. they're fine for a crowd, but for one or two cups, can't beat the machine, especially if you don't like to drink coffee that's been sitting around for a while

Fine, TO! My gall bladder has mostly been in hiding since it heard my surgeon say it is going to be removed.. Not had a date for the op yet, thought they did say it might be just before Christmas (but I could reschedule if that was inconvenient). Sad times at the moment for Other Half as his ex-FIL died last week after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Not great times for my daughter, since a fraud gang managed to steal all of her bank savings she'd worked hard for to put towards doing her PhD. Hopefully, the bank will give her the thousands of pounds she was defrauded of back.

I like FB - it kept me in touch with my daughter re the personal, offline chat, when she was away travelling the world and I could see all her photos. It also keeps me in touch both in the private and public parts with many members of my family and old school friends who I might not otherwise see much of.
I think it's a matter of tailoring it to your taste and style. I like being able to keep in touch with old friends again.
