Thanks, Liz. We've had great holidays, amidst a few road bumps. Hubby passed a kidney stone and a favorite uncle died after a long battle with cancer. Had company for Christmas and New Year's, thought, which was great!

How did your Christmas go did you have family around or was it just the two of you?
we celebrated christmas with just the two of us. still a little flat over what happened last year. but boxing day was great. had a lovely picnic in the park with my side of the family. 11 adults, 1 soon-to-be adult and 7 kids. it was chaotic and thoroughly delightful.
It is strange when hearing someone say picnic on boxing day..lol So used to it always being a cold time of the year..Glad you had a wonderful time. did santa bring you everything you wanted or have you been a naughty girl and got a lump of coal?

new years eve - valentine and I went out the the local pub. ran into a casual friend, who is well known for having NO filter....this guy asks us "so hey - does he sleep over your house, like, when you kids are home?" Valentine admitted that yes, he does sometimes, but we waited until we had been dating a longish time, I had discussed it with the kids first to gauge their comfort level, etc. Then the guy proceeds to browbeat with how wrong that is. Very discouraging, really.
Im not sure why it bothered me so much, but it did. My kids had NO issue with it - they like Valentine very much, and their dad lived with his partner for years before they married, so they didn't bat an eye. so why am I so irked?
It's not like you have little kids. Your kids are old enough to understand the situation.

Back in the day we as a eatery supplier used to be able to order "cracked" grade eggs on the cheap. You would get the kitchen help to sit there all day and crack them open into large containers and you would simply blend it all up and pour it out at need. This grade of egg is not longer used.

Sorry, not following the chog with any great precision today. Here in south sound we have drizzle but no flakes, no slush. Fire in fireplace, though.
Fireplace sounds great, stidgemere, but we have a burn ban going on up north. Still though, we have our Christmas lights lit and it's warm and cozy... and my beloved is making beef burgundy in the slow cooker. He is an excellent chef (he taught me to cook :)
The aroma of the beef and burgundy is so nice and rich! We are having a little breeze that keeps those burn bans from being imposed right now.
