Clues are up
hello everyone
Of course. 371 followed by 49. Bah.
Aack ..
From sublime to ridiculous in 24 hours!!! LOL!
49 to go and my computer crashed!!
on last grid
Ouch, Flosey - weird premonition for this grid ;)
isn't it strange!
Very strange and frustrating too, for you.
it was, but on we go - guess I'll finish this one
:)
if only one cons. was a vowel. one more vowel.........
yes, pretty heavy on the consonants
i say make the N in second column, third row into an A.
hi everyone
hi ru
Hi Ru
wow.. if these were all that easy
Very true.
I don't think I've finished one in 4 minutes before
FWs
fw
and now that my puter is up and running again, may I finish the last 49 from yesterday's???
don't know what happened, it was just wonky for a short time, then this grid came up fine
ah well, an early night tonight - quite a change for me
had to leave for 20 minutes and everyone has finished!
*!* ta da *!*
not sure anyone is here, but bye :-)
one slowpoke is still here.....
jeezzz... who shrunk my babble?

Hugs, sprite

Sure are Ro - I saw you're comment on FB! Gutted!!!! LOL! Gutted over shandies right now!
LOL! I finished!
wtg Liz!
lovely....nothing better
It's been ridiculously hot and humid here! I think they'll be glad to get back to Melbourne - even a day late!
Air con working overtime!
But the extra day means an extra lunch - Sheoak Shack here we come again.
ok... so with the frost on the cars i can see... hot and humid sounds good to me.... ive had the front door open for two days.... and theres no heater in the hall at the moment
Brrrrr!
brrrrr ro. But better than humid heat.
yeah... humidity is a pain...thats true
It's really over the top at the moment - yesterday and today.
thanks sprite
ConTel was the local phone company where i grew up. Typed it in w/out thinking. LOL good evening/morning, yall!
on babble... are the three words from the corner c...all cl words?
No, one's a ca
Ooops - might be wrong there!

gotta love monkeys
yw
Deep purple on TV right now - so leaving. Hugs, sprite and have a good day all of you.
monkeys rock
sleep well, Liz, and enjoy deep purple
fireflies. As small grids go, this one could have been worse... it could have been a K grid. Bye all.
49 0n a Saturday? And 6 r's/ they're kidding, right?
huh. that ar6 was unexpected, thank you monkeys.
Stats for that AR6 please, DC?
ar6/21
Thank you Dc43 :-)
yw
oh, sorry zooz, i stepped away. glad the other dc stepped in :)
No problem, DC, I am always in and out myself.Managed to get it in the end..lol
All I need now is a c5 to finish!
Could I get a clue for that ar6, please?
i've got 6 Cs to go, but need must sleep, it's nearly 05:30 and i'm to go hiking at 13.
marc, a small appendage
g'day/night and happy babbling, yall!
Thanks I ot it
got it
Sweet sleeps, DC, And have a great hike tomorrow!
are there 2 ar6's?
No just the one, Marc.
there is an AR4 though.
Marc I would like to apologize for my cluing the other day.I did not clue correclty and gave you lots of confusion. That was not my intention.I was just tired and should not of tried to clue.
No problem, your clues are always great sometime I am just very thick
I have on5 and on4 what are the stats of the 'o' I am missing?
Nah it was me.I said the EN was a plural when it was not.It was the one who does it.But that was a while ago now.Just wanted to say sorry.I know ho frustrating it can be when you get wrong information..lol
ON 5/10; OR 4/4; OR 4/5
Really no problem don't beat yourself up over it.
got it thanks
Welcome.
And finished..YaY..But what am I to do now?
Suppose I had better do the new lot of ironing..ugh!
Happy babbling everyone..toodle pips for now.
see you have a great day
I have cl4/5 and cl5/12 what are the stats of the 'c' I am missing, please?
cl5/12
ty
yw
Can I have a clue for the ar6?
there are 2: one is a diminutive appendage, the other a nut
nm, got it
sorry-the ar6 is the appendage
Happy Saturday all. I was looking forward to a bigger puzzle, oh well.
good morning everyone:)
Hey crossy.
how is sukee this fine morning?
Not too bad actually, and you?
This grid may be small but it's tough
Not too bad. Everyone else is still asleep and I get to babble in peace. I am the only early bird in the house. My beloved and my son are both nighthawks:(
Small ones usually have big sharp teeth
Boo, my cat, decided i should get up.
Same here. cat was licking my eyelids and woke me up
And it's not for food because he hasn't come out here to eat yet.
Mine wanted food, but i think they also get lonely
My mind is not working the way this grid is today :)
nor is mine. I do not think it is your mind
Need more vowels.
I'm stuck on the R on the bottom row. Can either of you clue it please? And, hi, Crossy & Sukee. :-)
Sorry, I don't have that one
Not for lack of trying either.
re5...word that means throw back to an earlier time
Hi Soodle - think old time - like if you had a walkman now it would be re5/10
Oh, for goodness sake!! Thanks Molly & Matty.
Doh, ty both.
howdy, soodles:)
FW
Well, finally a bit more than half way
yaaa for matty!
And all of a sudden a bunch of mo words popped out at me.
And down to 10 to go
Fireworks!
moral
And now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!! A chunk of gold the size of a matchbox can be flattened into a wafer thin Sheet the size of a tennis court:)
And a bonus tidbit that my American friends will get a charge out of... Because it is said so often, "sorry" is legally not an admission of guilt under the eyes of the law in many provinces. sorry about that:))
Hi Crossy, Thanks for the info. I got here just in time.
How is scrabby this fine, chilly morn?
Minus 2 F here but will get to 36 later. My sister arrived from New Jersey yesterday and we will snowshoe everyday through Wed.
ar 6?
ar= not leg+rent
TY, Ro
ty - never would have gotten it
Working on those buns of steel, eh scrabby? lol
im done if anyone wants any more clues
I just end up with thigh muscles of mush:(
Working on weight loss--the eternal struggle.
I just started Ro, thanks.
scrabbler...i have been over weight all my life...and now im not... for me its carbs... low carb diet has been a blessing
morning. how many ar6's are there?
lol, I have lost 5 more pounds since bacon became too expensive about 3 months ago:)
I eat a very healthy diet, I just eat too much. I follow a low glycemic index diet.
One ar6
i have 2 so far
a nut and a small not leg
And one ar4
ac5 and 6
I have lost 23lbs since this time last year
i have 15 more to go
it is always the hardest
I love my fresh baked breads and it is my downfall
but it is working slowly
Yay Sue! Good work.
eat the bread cross, just dont make as much
I wa at a healthy wt for several years in the 80's and in the late 90's or so, then slowly creeped up around 2001 or so.
take away all the big plates, use only small utensils, and chew your food at least 10 times. that is the challenge my nutritionist gave us for this month.
I fail at portion control, so I just keep adding more exercise:)
it is the little things that make a difference.
Sue are you still doing HCG?
Hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, etc
:) lately i am the very opposite
well, no boating atm... too much ice in the way lol
I always wanted to try those little ice sleds with the single sail and zip across the frozen bay:)
on and off molly. i use it as an appetite control when i know I wont have time to eat. I tried smoothies, but I get hungry too soon. I just bought more vegies so i will let you know.
We could go sledding with our kayaks and canoes, Crossy.
Fun, Crossy!
snap, scrabby
well, time to take Wesley to Drum Line. BBL for the last 22. You are all so wonderful. Thank you all for the smiles
mmm, minus 21 with the wind chill, think i shall hold off a bit on the walkies...
tc sue
We are in no rush to get into the woods.
Agreed. i am hoping for some afternoon sunshine and it will be perfect
We are going to the County Forest--not a virgin forest, but most of the trees were planted in the 1920's by the CCC. We will hike for an hour to a cabin where we will rest and make a fire in the wood stove.
Sounds perfect
bring along a deck of cards and a wine skin of cherry whiskey and it will be perfect;)
It is one of my favorite places around here. The trails include many wooden bridges including 2 covered bridges.
We bring "Travel Scrabble."
Up north when snowmobiling all day we used to pack cherry whiskey in thos supple wineskins because it was the only thing that would not freeze solid in minus 40 temps
I don't drink but my sister brought a bottle of wine with her.
Arrrrrrrgh! Can I have yesterday's grid back to finish?!?!?
That would be far more fun, Car!
I have never owned a "travel scrabble" board. just google it. very interesting
This little grid is painful
It is actually Portfolio Scrabble. It has been in airports and places all over the US and in Canada.
Me too, car. I fell asleep halfway through
:(
I miss having a good scrabble opponent my beloved will no longer play the game with me:(
I had no time to return to the grid last night. I had 265 left.
at this stage, I really can't believe we don't have archives of grids...even a week's worth.
My mom, in her day, was unbeatable.
a really good way to diet is to keep out of the PB
Crossy, we can play via FB. I usually have a couple dozen games going, with many Babblers.
Yes, jwr.
I always said(and even proposed to jesse) that in addition to the daily grid, there should be a 10x10 weekly grid of 1000-5000 words
We do have archived grids.
Please add me Scrabbler!!!!!
I will, Car.
I will set up scrabble on FB now. never even thought of it tbh:)
That was only half in jest, Scrabs -- when people start talking about what's in there, the juices begin to run.
Simply can't see the te6 .... Anyone got a hint going please
whoops - last comment to Scrabbler had to do with PB, not games.
Allen, it ends with the er5
great fear - TE 6
these little grids can be a TE6....a nightmarish one!
Alleyn, sorry
ok. all done please add me when you get a chance scrabby
Bye Crossy! HAGD
Bye crossy
So itthe
so is the third letter an s?
No, R
I hate playing babble on my iPad, it autocorrects the words and peoples names
hi all
You can turn autocorrect off
that sounds truly annoying pip
Hi jmc
Got it - Thx - was going in wrong direction!
not going anywhere just yet. I am running scrabble and babble in split screen mode:)
You multitasking genius!
lol I see you scrabby:) lets see what u got!
Srabble, right?
not enough vowels! :(
You too Crossy! Let's play!
ok car:))
Crossy and Car--you can play Scrabble on your smartphone too, if you have one.
that is the only place i play it scrabs
lol, I see how you like to play scrabby:))
my apartment is only 60 degrees today. I am not thrilled
poor pippin:(
No heat?
{{hugs}} pippingeek.....
that sounds good to me pip. . . i generally keep my house at 55
not sure how we got two games going at once though;))
the landlord controls the radiators, and on weekends nobody is in their office
i like it between 65 and 70
Brr, pippin
55, Je!
Brr to everyone
hi bichon
I usually keep my thermostat set at 65 but last evening the outdoor temp dropped to minus 2 so I increased the indoor temp to 67.
I like it about 65 as well. I get almost a claustrophobic feeling if it is too warm and stuff in the house
ouch, that is cold. it's 18 here but that's enough to throw off our heat situation
Grrrrr. My computer decided it was time to update.
i will say, on a tiny grid like this it is super satisfying to find even one word
I always keep auto update disabled. I like to pick and choose between critical updates and crapola
especially when it greys out a tile
Go Pippin, go.
I'm looking forward to flying to the beach in Mexico today. So 70 low for me next week. :)
Nice, JE.
that sounds lovely jmc
It froze so I had to let fo something pip
Oh Enjoy!
Fireworks
Of course that means that the supremes had to finally grant cert on a case I need to write a brief for so I will be sitting by the pool with my laptop. :( it's a hard life being a world saver
HAGD all!
well done car!
Whoo hoo car!
better to work on a laptop on the beach than in your office in freezing weather
can someone give me stats for the c in the last column?
Does this cape go with my bathing suit.?
Indeed pip.
ok I have scrabble chat figured out:)
capes go with everything, always
Good point.
Hi jmc, pip, crossy

:(
ty
yw

and ty corn the cl
poor orphans:)
well at least they were found
er, for the cl - i have no idea where that PB word came from
hehehe
I just did a D&C on my computer this morning. it is amazing how much crud builds up in just a week
defrag and ???
i really ought to do that, mine has been sluggish lately
Every time I do that crossy, I have to log back into all my programs
i would clean my computer but i am always afraid i will erase some critical file that some programmer gave a cute name. . .
lol, it is a play on words on the medical procedure D&C. I just use it as Dusting and cleaning
hey, i made it halfway! now i just have to find an A and an R to get nbt
As do I , bichon but it is worth it
All the prefetch data usually vanishes with a good cleaning
OK you convinced me. I haven't done it in months
which in fact i did about a year ago and now every time i log into my 2013 tax program i have to go into services and start the program from there. . .
MONTHS???!!
ouch
wtg pip
note to self - don't tell crossy how rarely i do any computer maintenance
here i will distract him. . . I haven't done it since i screwed up that file last tax season. . . .
on a weekly cleaning schedule, i can usually removed around 400 meg to ! gig of useless crap and temp files etc and registry fragments
1 gig*
Okay, done
yaa!
hooray bichon!
pip one of the A's is a thing from the oak tree. . . still looking for the R
Yay, Bichon.
whoo hooo bichon!

I am sorry, judi. it is always hard to lose a beloved pet
i know that hurts. Just know you are doing what is best for him.
She is 13. Has doggie dementia and rear leg paralysis. Not in pain, but she cried all night last night. Just beside herself with the dementia thing.
:((
oh yea. it is time.
She is hubby's baby, so he is a total wreck right now.
Hi All!
I feel like we make a promise with our pet family, when it is time we protect them like they did for us.
def time. the quality of life is not there
Judi so sorry

She had a queen's breakfast of scrambled eggs, steak, mac & cheese and tuna fish.
nice judi

howdy, hego:)
Trust me, the animals here eat better than the humans.
You feed your dog steak?
she's taking her last ride today Molly.
Well, little bits of steak.
i have 4 plurals, any more for the c's
There are five plural c's.
Sorry, I don't know the Facebook talk

i'll need it
any clues for the R word in bottom row, third column?
... re5 ... a thing of the past
nm got it. sorry
hi mkg and dose
... g'morning jmc
all i lack for nbt is the upper R. . .
which upper r?
i'm an idiot
hehe so am i. . .nbt
now i understand an earlier clue about garbage stealing critters. . . i is a city girl and so thought of rats and rodents!
... ra5/6 ... furry animal that washes the fish it catches and seems to wear a mask ... and knocks over garbage ails at midnight ... but drop a "c"
... and the double "o"
ty does
ugh! ty dose
you sure have those animals figured out, dos, haha! I might add... washes the cat food I put outside in the water dish, making a big mess of it. :P
... had a pair of them living in the bushes at the bottom of the back yard ... huge things ... looked like they could take on a small car
my sister used have a problem with getting garbage from one side of her house and then marching across the tin roof. . . clank, clank, clank. . . to wash it in the dog water bowl on the other side of the house. . .
they may be cute to some but they are dangerous animals when cornered. . .
... I wouldn't take one on
my sister finally moved the dog water bowl next to the garbage so she could get some sleep. . . hahah
so funny to watch them washing it, though, little hands going just like us, scrubbing away
yes . . . it is cute. . . from a distance :)
we had a mom and several little ones this last year, but they disappeared before winter, not sure what became of them. maybe the local coyotes.
I often fear for the cats I feed, the ones who won't set foot inside. lots of coyote caterwauling off in the woods.
... cats will climb a tree ... not coyotes
plus we have foxes, too.
coyotes have to eat. . .
it flooded here last spring, really badly, and the coyotes sounded like they were right in the park across the train tracks from us. sooo close.
... and done ... must go to the library and see if I can help save the semester for any poor high school non-math student ... ... may I offer a clue for anyone?
whoo hoo dose!
congrats! :)
no thanks dose. . . small enough as it is . . . even if a bit of a challenge
... then i'm off ... remember ... six weeks to spring training ... Go Expos!
i am watching the trades already! go nats!
bbl
My Canadian husband used to call the Nationals the Ex-po's : D
yay, fireworks - had to go to Lickety for the last three, but of course two were fishy and I hang my head... :P
but I would never have thought of the very first c - ca4/5 - like the little fat-makers but without the last part - ca**ries
and with that, off I go. :)
can i get the stats for the T?
please .
I am missing one c5 in the top right.
The t is something going on in the news that there is a War on. The shorter t is a path well walk-on.
walked on.
ty,
That last c 5- I figure if I monkey all day I may get it.
i don't have it either
clon
oops
no, that, isn't it.
Ah. A Fireworks.
Small achievement/
wtg
Little fat makers...we are truly a society obsessed with weight...
I thought a happy meal was a little fat maker?
co 5/14, pls
nm
Diet Coke and french fries please
Yes, the oxymoron
I once knew someone who put peanut butter on her Weight Watchers chocolate cakes.
There's always an excuse when you're on a diet
she didn't want to lose weight too quickly I guess molly
she just saw too many reeses commercials. . . hi all
up to 10 ru. . . you are improving. . .
:D
well, he did get 2 within the first week
Oh Ru, you have another fan. ♥ Ru ♥
yes but when he is hot he can get as many as 2 a day. . . .
that's when he's feeling really punny
It's amazing how quickly new people catch on to the game and the chat
which is always
I should get extra groan points for one of them
there's not much to pun today
little grids make punning difficult
there's always the drink though
co4 and co4
I hate it when little grids show up on weekends and we get monster grids on a busy workday.. ugh
There seems to be no balance. The little grids far outweigh the bigger ones.
ru was that NPI??
NPI?
No pun intended
ah. . .ty
Oh great, another abbreviation to incorporate
is that a texting thing kni?
i have no idea
just a spur of the moment thing then. . . i had never see it before
YWR
:D
<--not good at deciphering texting stuff
i was referring to the monster soft drink and the monster grids
oh.. I don't know monster soft drinks
look it up
<-- actually look at my prof pic
i was told to tell rururocks to sign up for a flickr account
looks like it would make me ill kni.. do you drink them?
alas i would have to reboot to see it enlarged. . . how many ounces?
<---maybe that's what I should do .. reboot :D
not worth it to me since i will be catching a cab to the airport soon. . .
where ya off to jm?
the beach in Mexico. . . my sister won a week in a house right on the beach from a charity auction and there is room for me and the boy. . .
keep your head about you
i will be working while i am there but this is a rare trip where i cannot think of anyway to write off as business. . .hahaha
I wouldn't go to mexico on a bet right now
no ru i prefer drinks that make me feel safer
actually in a few hours i will be in SF to catch the next leg of the flight. . . .
ah.. I think I've seen the Monster drinks (the green can) but didn't know what they were in the stores
ah.. have a safe trip JM.. be careful
there hasn't been much happening on the beaches in the south (where we are going) and the worst is not focused on tourists at any rate. . .
tell that to all the dead tourists
double checked the dead mexican tourists and generally it was accidents and only about one a month last year. . . we probably have more than that in the US each year. . .
but thank you for the sentiment. . . i am a cautious traveler . . .
not true
A guy riding his bike to south America was just killed and decapitated in a "safe" village
just this week
near a "safe resort" area
glad you're cautious
so they found him. . . he was missing for quite a while. . . riding a motorcycle alone cross country is potentially dangerous anywhere. . .
okay gotta go. . . bbl maybe from the west coast. . . 8 left. . .
*poof*
Working...I am so out of touch with Babble people...last I read here JMC got laid off...
probably taxes? Doesn't she do taxes for people and consult?
Not sure. People often say they will be "working" to justify a lush vacation. I' am always happier to hear that someone is getting away to somewhere nice just to relax and have fun.
when you work for yourself.. it's really hard to "take" vacations and not work.. I kind of get that
Still, sad to think of someone getting the chance for a lavish vacation and having to work through it. Kind of defeats the purpose of a vacation.
When I traveled for work, I would try to incorporate weekends for sightseeing etc. It worked out really well, especially in South Africa
And the companies would usually assign someone to show me around
Good for you, Ruby. You have lived a very blessed life.
And now it is time for Crossy's famous quote of the day!!
"We are all searching for someone whose demons play well with ours"--Meghan Coates
My last one that completely eludes me is the co5 after the short story. Anyone?
A reef is made of it
*Wonders how many people know the word by the definition "short story"
OMG! Thx! Can't believe I didn't see it!
Easy to miss, the way it's presented all twisty. Actually, hard to see.
which word is the short story?
The second to the last co5
never heard that def
Neither have I. It's mostly known as an Italian noble.
me too
The short story definition is British.
of course
