Yes, which I hate. I used to use the energy saving bulbs anyways, but they replaced all the socket with these two-prong units. That way nobody can even use incandescent bulbs even if they wanted to. Problem is these fancy bulbs are almost $10.00 a pop and they do not pay for replacements

not the "large" river - the Monongahela that flows up to Pittsburgh, but many of the smaller streams overflowed and covered roads and flooded into houses

Volunteering today at the school and the teacher gave me her grade 12 portion of the class while she went and took care of the grade 11's. I have a new respect for teachers. Yes. Heavy snow on the trees is worrisome. We are surrounded by lots of old, creaky trees with branches that like to come crashing down onto our back lawn.

Last time we flew, I did learn a neat trick for avoiding huge security check lines. We were flying domestic, but got detoured to international check-in (for US Airways). Breezed right through. Little longer hike to our gate, but worth not standing in the cattle call.

People down south are not used to driving in snow. It's really better that they keep the kids home and safe.
We are not getting the large quantities of snow that other areas are getting, but the deep freeze continues with it dropping down into the minus 20's tonight. This is a kiss and a curse because all this deep cold has the entire area of Georgian Bay frozen to the point of 95% or greater coverage. The cold itself has turned off our snow machine:)

I'm not sure why people who opt not to drive in bad weather conditions are considered "wimps". It's not your measure as a good driver. It's all the other bad drivers on the road.
I have the vehicle for it, and even i do not play around out there when the roads get ugly. I leave it to the skiers from the city to play bumper cars with each other. Our little town wrecking yard must have the largest collection of smashed up beemers and audi's in the area:)
