hello granny

i made it 4/5 through before floundering. for me that isn't too bad. not too many unknowns.
do youhave a clue for ho7 please?

ru6, please?
ho7, ho + abbreviation for street + most of to rent + consonant
ru6, alcohol + not out + vowel
thanks Rose

yay you two. well done

choirs sing in un6
thanks all of you sorry I was so thick
* wry grin * not at all, marc.
don't forget to move your clocks forward happy daylight savings time
yes, tks Marc
marc, flosey is that your night that it is to happen. i have to forewarn lickety
right now it is 7:15pm sunday here. when is the time change from now?
yes Rose, on west coast Canada, it is 12:15 am
so, we should be looking at 1:15 am now
ahhhh, so lickety needs to change his ti4 now?
or Dr. God?
Lickety does the clues, Dr.G created Babble
no, lickety is the one who provides the precious list. and he is based here in ozland.
the time changed on my computer automatically at 2 am
to 3 am
ah, so perhaps it doesn't change at midnight then - I'll wait and see in the morning
and you are up at this hour because?? marc?? *giggle*
I'm nuts
co7
flosey, usually the ti4 change occurs at 2am...and changes to 3am.
marc, peanuts, cashews or pecan?
I will not wait up for it to happen - I hope!!
pistacios
ugh co7!!! co + most of the last + geller, the guy who bent spoons.
of course you are, marc. crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside...lolol
thanks
for which???
haha thanks for both
*grin* my job is done.
thanks for all the clues going to try and sleep a little
goodnight Marc, sweet sleep
sweet dreams marc.
Rose, do you have a clue for sh6 please
sh6, sh + vowel + double consonant + sometimes vowel
is that a real word?
or....sh6, sh + beginning of edible shell fish, pearls +you and me
*giggle* apparently
lol, and that is also an odd one
lol, and that, of course, gave me the sh5 before it!!!
first sh6, a scaleless european fish
really, flosey...why don't you know these words....* maniacal laughter here*
hahahah
we had a top notch fishery here - owner just sold out, haven't shopped there since but must try it
actually, I've gone off fish for a while
when we first moved out, we ate a lot of fresh caught salmon - guess I had my fill!
i hear you friend. fortunately i enjoy fish all year round...and my thyroid gland says thank-you.
ah, it's good for the thyroid?
I do love halibut though - as prepared by the fish & chip shops - deep fried in batter
absolutely. any food which puts iodine into your body is good.
oh, ok, I understand - mom was very ill when we were kids, she had to take iodine
and i loooove blue grenadier...grilled....fried...i don't care...just give it to me...* laughing*
never heard of that one
flosey, deep fried....my gut does not like it....
thought grenadier was a guard
well, I should have it occasionally
i am so trying to blot that pic out of my mind....
flosey, just find which fish give you the iodine your body needs.
I just say 'be still my gut because I am going to enjoy this'
oh, yeah?? and how often does it listen to you?
I don't have a problem - and, at my age, I will not anticipate it
mom had that problem when we were kids
Rose, I'm down to 35 so will keep these for tomorrow - will try to sleep now
thanks for the clues and have a good day
sweet dreams my dear friend. xoxox
di6 ready...*nearly got caught*....lol...bbl
i am so sleepy. xoxox sprite.
good morning all
aw poor rose. Sleep well, darling. Sorry to be so late.
a 'grenadier' in dutch is a soldier, one that is especially trained to throw grenades, flosey. So I guess it means that in other languages as well. I bet we stole it from the French, lol.
Happy Sunday all.
hi sukee :)
Clocks went forward last night so I feel I got up too early.
Hi sprite
Now this is a much better sized grid than yesterday.
ugh yes, not fun, going into DST. Let me see when we go.
3 weeks from now
It seems early here this year.
I wish they would get rid of it, no need today.
yes. We usually go around the start of Spring. I hate it. Messed up my system for weeks on end. Even worse now that I have to take all kinds of meds.
Same here, just when I get used to waking up without an alarm clock the time changes.
yes. And you are so right, it doesn't serve any goal nowadays. Sigh.
Watching my cat, lol. Sometimes he seems to walk into a room and forget what he came for :)
lol sukee :) They can be so silly, our pets.
And, it usually involves going to eat :)
chatted with a man when walking Terra and he told me his rescue dog insisted to be carried to bed every evening. When he switches off the lights, the dog lies down, turns his belly up and the man has to pick him up and carry him to his bench, and cover him with a blanket.
That is a spoiled dog :)
lol indeed. But so sweet.
When I don't go to bed on time, Boo sits beside my chair and stares at me until I get up.
I love that story, Sprite, my first smile of the day. Talk about spoiled, I've just gone up and down the stairs at least 20 times to serve husband in bed. I know he does't feel well, but neither do I!
Hi Ruby.
Terra does something similar. He sits down next to the door and starts making tiny sounds.
Hi Sukee
I had one good day and thought I was getting better, but the pain is back
Sorry.
hi ruby! I am afraid your husband does not really realise you are in pain, darling. He is in his own little world, confused and kinda lost. Not easy on you at all.
Fortunately, the housekeeper comes on her days off and makes a fire, feeds the birds and walks the dogs. It is lucky that she lives in the village
That is nice.
aw she is a blessing!
Can you imagine walking two such big dogs at the same time?
No, that is why I have cats :)
A cat.
They love her and are very well-behaved
I see this man out every day taking his dog just out to pee. He has a cane and it is a big dog, sometimes you think he is going to fall.
scary, sukee
I don't even try to walk the saller one. Even though she is good, I can't risk it
I actually see a lot of people in this building with big dogs who don't walk them, they just take them out to do their business and bring them back in. So unfair to the dogs.
In some cases I can understand it, but not most.
very. At some point one will have to decide not to get another big dog. Or enlist a walker service, if available.
smaller* (only 32 kg)
Luckily, we have a big, enclosed garden so dogs can stay out as much as they like. The only reason to walk them is so that they can "read the morning paper"
but the dogs have free roaming of the garden with you, ruby. They don't need hour-long walks to stay happy and fit.
woo hoo, got an 8 letter word by myself :)
lol, snap at that. Your dogs live in doggy heaven, that is for sure.
wtg sukee!
All dogs should have a yard.
very sart, sukee. I have one 7 and that' my biggest but it's nice to sit here and not have to go upstairs again
even smart*
that was one of the main reasons for buying this house, along with the view
I usually only get 4 and 5 letters words at first.
me too. Biggies usually last. But this grid is friendly, biggie-wise. Apart from the odd fish.
fireflies. Lovely grid.
wtg
yay, sprite!
I don't have all day to work on it sadly, have to do some writing that I put off from yesterday :)
have to be off. *hugs* to you both and take care.
Take care
sprite, my favorite puzze (aside from the chows) is pinwheels. Have you been able to locat "Ruby"
Haven't heard of that one.

You take care too.

Oh you were truly delirious? poor scrabby:(
Babble is having repeated pauses for me.
Got a flu going on then?
Not ill, just delirious. Haha. I resisted falling back to sleep for a few hours.
Have lots of hot toddies and massages then.

And now(just for molly) it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!! Quite often we forget just how large Australia is, but this tidbit brings it home a bit. Check out the distance you have to drive to get to town if you are at this intersection on Australia's Gunbarrel Highway! http://tinyurl.com/q3kqm9c

The quintuplets are in the grid
annie you mean di4?
aawww, i have the dolls :-)
really une? how long have you had them?
wow, Une
they belonged to my mom (around 1930) -- unfortunately they were in her unheated/unairconditioned attic and aren't in very good shape
ouch une too bad
i also have her Shirley Temple doll -- it, on the other hand is in pretty good shape
i am still a big shirley temple fan
I had a Shirley Temple doll..dont know what happened to it. Must have been lost when we moved as a child
she and Shirley Temple were the same age and my grandmother curled her hair on "rags" to look like Shirley's locks LOL
i remember watching Shirley Temple movies on TV on Saturday morning :-)
most people did that to little girls back then
My mother used to take me to the beauty parlor for Shirley Temple curls. I had big curlers in my hair attached to this monstrous machine that was attached to the ceiling. But I had the prettiest curls for a day or two.
i have some of the sheet music for songs from her films :-))
awww Annie :-)
une that is so awesome
annie:)
My da live 5 minutes from the Quints home in North Bay. it has been preserved as a museum of sorts. Sadly, the poor girls were taken advantage of at the time, and used as props solely for financial gain.
Oh, I remember Shirley Temple dolls. My sister had one.
FRom what I read, the family became sort of wealthy from the pictures and stories about the girls published in newspapers and magazine
yes they were cross
I am sure they made money, but the cost was high as well.
cross they were abused and made into a mockery
I know. it is well known local history
I wonder if any of the Dionne girls are still alive
I know one died in the 70's but have not followed the others
only two of them are alive now
Annie, those curlers attached to the ceiling was a permanent wave machine. I remember those too.
one was a blood clot the other was epileptic seizures
Yes, Molly, that is what there were. Thank goodness, I wasnt subjected to a perm.
my mother gave me home perms. i had straight bangs and big fluffy hair over my ears....and the bangs were crooked
i have had perms before
she always did like my sister best
ivesy, Is that Grover in your icon? Love it.
yes annie.. i believe he is smoking weed lol
I remember going to the beauty parlor with my Mom and waiting while all the ladies sat under those hooded dryers
lol
that was quite the meeting place molly..
is TE 8 something i would know?
And there was a soda machine there. The kind with a glass door and Cokes in a bottle
i so liked the cola in those bottles. sometimes i can still find them
te8 ends in (think Math) not plus
I had one home perm as a child (Toni) I hated it. I looked like that woman in the Dilbert cartoon :(
good morning all
my home perms were always horrible and frilly dresses.. so not me
Peri, you must have had the same perm I did : D Happy Daylight Savings Time!!!
most likely
yay, longer days
molly spelling it out or just part of it?
Lots of people here were complaining about Daylight Savings Time yesterday. I don't get it. What's not to love about more daylight?
te8 is a compound word, I got it from Molly's clue, ty Molls
I remember my Mom telling me she would take me to a Disney movie if I would get a haircut
ah got it
ty both
The only bad thing I can think of about DST is getting up in the dark to walk the dogs
bichon you had a nice mom:)
hi peri and bichon
My Mom was the best
Morning all. Stats for the pesky E in the 4th column?

Te 8 is the literally the end point. Usually used in the context of the end of a voyage.

thank you Molly
I can think of a few of those...

Sing together
Oops not the first, sorry
oh good -- didn't see unichoir
No I think it is
Ends in not daughter
ty molly
on 7, please?
nm - found it
Good, it saves me from naughty cluing
thnaks Molly, got it from your comment!
don't see the possibility of naughty clueing, though
does the on7 start with a number?
I'm not getting it...

and hello
on 7: o I do this
Hello

Nan, naughty cluing would have been the definition of on7
Great clue, Molly! I looked for the practice, which isn't there, and missed the devotee.
Can't seem to monkey the yo7/7 help?
sorry yi4/7
yi...like the top of a container...a plural..
ty penquis

any ready for their DST nap?
stuck at 84.
sticky grid.
One of the worst grids I've ever seen
I've listed.
i think i will try later, with a list. need 66
it's the sort of grid where you thin you see a word, but not sure, and it DES exist. just twisted. need to fly on autopilot for this one.
arrrgh! keyboard acting up again. time to reboot. later.
i am back....so many distractions....
hello...clue for the first an8/50?
medical thing.....when the blood vessel wall is too thin
ty pen
yw...
i am down to 20...
an 8, first one, please
Good afternoon
just clued it...
ty pen
yw...
well going down the list once, i have whittled the number down to 4....
i think i could look forever and never find the on 7 and the co 7... :o(
need help, pen?
yes!
my arm hurts and i have lost patience...
co*e sit on my lap, mr. ballet dancer, think ... rudolf ***^ev
um....which word is that for?
on + one who worships the devil a sat*****
the co is the one with the ballet dancer
did you asterisk the right letter?
got it....tyvm!
oops - no m - it's co (as in com* sit on my lap)
nope - but you got it anyway :)
np....found it....i am done!
never seen either one of those...
and the ballet dancer was misspelled - that's why i used a ^ instead of a * - you got it
*^*^*^*^
:oD
i've seen the on7, but not the co7 - live and learn
hey, how was restaurant week?
great!....went to three places and all were good....one more to go this week....it's a two week event this year....
tell me what you had
(because, as you know, i covet your seafood availability)
go to Mainerestaurantweek.com.....i went to Solo Bistro...40 Paper....and Cappy's.....will go the Hartsone Inn this week....if you click on the restaurants, you scroll down and see menus...
will do
most places offer three course meals for $35...a few are more (i won't go to those) and a few are a little less (like Cappy's)...
the menus are lovely
ironically, i did not have seafood for a main dish yet....had pork, pasta, and beef....my bro had calamari stuffed with sausage as an appetizer and a baked seafood dish with greek elements as a main course...
had a wonderful appetizer with grilled artichokes and goat cheese...
Clue or the first re6/18, please?
looking forward to the Hartstone Inn.....nephew used to cook there....it's the fanciest place i will go to....
you would be re**** if you forgot your anniversary
that's the 6/21...
i think i like cappy's menu best, so far - but cod with lobster risotto? that's right up my alley
re 6/18...part of your eye...
<-- crappy cluer (apologies)
Thanks!
my brother like's cappy's....it was an interesting menu there this year....lots of choices....
there are fish on the menus that you just can't find anywhere else - fluke, for instance
all the places i went to are within 8 miles of where i live except for Solo Bistro....that's an hour away....my neighbor wanted to go... very nice place...
yes, there are some interesting dishes....
we are lucky that some of our area restaurants participate.....
cod cheeks - here, walleye cheeks are delicacies, but there's such limited fishing for them, you could live a lifetime without ever seeing any
if i came for restaurant week, i'd have to reserve two seats on the plane for the ride home *lol*
... and refinance the house :)
lol....
... we can't get fresh flounder here, either (mr. fluke's cousin)
i am doing more this year than last....but it only comes once a year...
we often see flounder on menus here....not always but often enough....
steamed flounder with ginger and leeks -- one of my favs from mom
sounds nice!
i have to stop looking at those menus! so many restaurants!
i may go to 3 Crow this week, too....3 courses for $25....can't beat that with a stick!
we're having salmon tonight with asparagus and fried rice
that sounds good....i am having stuffed peppers....i did not make them.....had them before and they were good.....
i like stuffed peppers. do you like stuffed cabbage? there's a recipe floating around called 'unstuffed cabbage.' haven't tried it, sounds 'deconstructed,' but that's okay with me. easy is (usuallly) good :)
yes, i have that recipe but have not tried it...
later, pen - have a nice evening
you, too....bye!

That's tough - not as though snow is under your control! All's good here. Just back from 4 weeks in New Zealand - amazing, beautiful place.
Still missing 3 x re :(
And 19 others too!
That is cool Lizlin! Have you been to New Zealand before?
No but will definitely go again. Can't recommend it enough - though I know it's so far from the US.
Have 12 RE words, one of which is in my story of clues 2day
I'll take a look - always enjoy your stories.
Not a very long one today since gave up on the grid today.
help with first an8 pls
Still fun though!
an 8 - weakening of blood vessel wall - often in chest. Often leads to death if it explodes!
ty Liz, I usually see that word with a y instead of an i
hi all, diving in
yw peri
Hi Gwen
Perhaps it's a UK spelling? I know it with the i, not y.
*sets out towels for everyone*
probably
To mop up the blood, Ru??? Or because summer's coming in the US?
what are the towels for?
no.. for everyone to wipe off after BDG jumped in the pool
ah, ok
Missed that comment! Duh, see it now!

I'm fine, hope things are going well for you.
odium, tedium, and other phantioms
I am ok,but disappointed that I lose 3 days of Spring break
Had 3 extra snow days and now we have to make them up
i'm just glad to have some slightly warner weather finally
Yes,me too!I'm so done with this winter! One of the coldest
This winter has been awful. There is a funny (but fake) story going around about a guy in Fargo being arrested for using a flamethrower to melt snow. I'm sure many people have fantasized about that though.
hello, all.
funny -- but why would he be arrested? flamethrower illegal?
Well like I said, the story is fake, but I imagine it's illegal for a civilian to use a flamethrower.
without a flamethrower license
Hi TO and all. I'm cooking our dinner in the oven and getting into the Babble Grid here in the mild temperatured Northwest.
