hello
the time change in Europe today? I'm waiting for th3 doctor
did? I s anybody there?
hello dearest ruby. is doc's visit just routine?
no, nurse came yesterday and it's possible that B. has an infection, although he has no fever. Just a lot of pain
I am beside myself.
And he can't remember where he is or what year it is. That may be the effect of the tramadol plus anesthesia -- I really hope so
pugs had heaps of pain post-op too. besides he's a man dear. they don't have headaches, just migrines
Did your time change. I have to run errands but am afraid the MD will arrive when I'm gone
is he well hydrated? dehydration can cause weird behaviour in the elderly.
can you ring the doc and ask for an about time?
I keep giving him water
he said around noon, but that can mean anything around here
can the errands wait til after? is your housekeeper available for however long it would take you?
She came for about ten minutes to make a fire and feed the birds, but she doesn't work for me on Sat and had stuff to do with HER sick husband and her 3 sons
oh, dear. i don't know what else to say?
I think I'm just having a rough morning. I can run the errands AFTER the doc gets here
I am just frazzled, sorry to vent on you, dear friend
I am just frazzled, sorry to vent on you, dear friend
that's what i'm here for. the good, the bad, and the ugly
ugly it is and I even had the red boxes, briefly
is burt well dosed up on his pain meds? i don't think it is the tramadol. we quite often have probs with the elderly post-op, both sexes.
He is taking tramadol + paracetemol, advil, all of his heart meds and his eye drops. I haven't been bothering with his vitamins
I feel like I need a nursing degree
good for you, ruby, you are doing fine. now go make yourself a cuppa and take a deep breath.
I feel like crying but am afraid that, if I start, I won't be able to stop
a good cry is very cathartic. it helps to clear your mind. try going outside, or somewhere burt can't hear you though...and let her rip. you need to do it.
I just called the local Italian resto and he's bringing Burt's lunch! Amazing!
what a kind man he is! be sure to give him an extra hug...
I love him, his wife and their dogs! They could not be kinder.
AAt least that takes care of part of the pressure
good for them then. now about that cuppa....or do already have one to hand?
sor n
ruby, so very sorry --- sending big hugs your way!
BRB = taking pups out to pee
time for bed for me. g'night to you all. hope your days/eves are kind to you. xoxox

Hi Dan. How are you and the 2Bits doing? What are your plans for the weekend?
good morning all
Hi wv
hello Scrabs
we are well. Ciocia Iza is visiting from Bialystok for a few days
Enjoy, Dan!
are you working this weekend Scrabs?
I am meeting a contractor at the local hardware store to look at bathroom vanities, vanity tops, laminate flooring, etc. Big decisions to make.
I work Easter weekend, including Good Friday, when everyone else wants to be off.
But fun decisions to make
This is the year of home improvements! I have delayed so many projects but now I found a home improvement guy to do the work. I am a DIYer but I just don't have the time, so it is now time to pay someone.
DIY takes time - a lot of it
And at age 55 I realize time matters more to me than saving $ by doing projects myself. So, I will help a young contractor earn $ for his family.
it's good you found someone reliable - we got someone to put on a new roof and are now suing him for not finishing the job - will no longer return phone calls
And I must get going now. I shall return here this afternoon or evening. Enjoy the day!
Terrible, wv!
hagd
good morning all. Snow better melt since I am not planning to shovel any more. it is spring you know!

you should see me wet and bedraggled. and cold!
no thank you - potential for grumpiness :)
just some annoyance to get home and dried out. was truly beautiful snow.
those big flakes can hypnotize you while driving, but yep, they're beautiful and makes for great scenery
the train goes past a huge cemetery. it looked beautiful and serene.

i was between philly and warminster.

the usual radio station friday, with lunch with a colleague.
and all this time i thought the radio station was in philly

welki, love your icon
Peri, all I can tell you is to make sure and hit refresh every time you finish. There is some glitch in this program that causes you to lose words even when you are finished, unless you refresh when done.

hello, trif
its snowing again. been doing so on and off all day. I. just. can't. with. this. winter.
i have 2 J words. both refer to the stone that is green. all clues welcome for other j words.
hello TO dear
unidentified female is called j***
tri, i love your blog here. so are you an inmate?????doubt it! but cute. what state are you in?
unidentified female? hmmm. thinking. ty.
Massachusetts, home of the nine foot snow total
got the unidentified female. ty.
tri, we are in MD and it is 60 degrees today. but yesterday we had snow.
i am from connecticut originally.
a dubious honor Trif.
im really losing it.
I NEED some spring, and soon
Yesterday was the last straw.
tri, with the global warming issues i am happy for cold for now. but then we get some relief with the warm mid days.
ta for now. back late.

ja 4/9 ja + ** and fro
hi tc
hi hego
saw a cute movie last night, which helped - Focus, with Will Smith. Total brain candy
phantom plant: cleome
i had to call of plans Again last night. and maybe tonight. stuff melts then refreezes and the potholes!
ugh; no fun TO
The potholes are everywhere!
and you cannot see them at night then - BOOM!
we were just speaking of this at school the other day - now that the worst of the onslaught is abating, people are beginning to see just how much this winter actually cost - gutters need to be fixed, dents and dings and broken fenders on cars, broken windows, leaks in houses, ice dam damage, perennials, trees, shrubs died....my fish pond is a goner for SURE....
Nasty!
my poor fish....I really do hope SOME of them survived, but I doubt it. the little heater that keeps an air hole open to exchange gasses just could NOT compete with the snow fall
they aren't prize koi or naught - we bought about 20 feeder goldfish 6 years ago for maybe all of a $1.20 and chucked them in there, and they got busy right away, and I had over 60 really good sized fish in there this past fall.
Poor babies!
wow. poor things.
however, if you think it is "fun" to collect up and dispose of bloated, dead fish, frogs, and salamanders on a chilly spring day, then you are wrong. Leave it ONE day too long though, and I swear, every neighborhood dog invades the pond and rolls in the dead things, and oh my god, you. cant. even.
:P
I promise I will stop talking aboutitnow
whew!!
I have to go pick up tertiare at work now anyway....take care all!
omg
Bye trif!!
bye, t rig
i like this grid.
If you see trif again, pls tell her that our ordinary pond fish survived many winters under snow and ice with no heater. They just caoodled to keep warm, I gue, because we started with 23 feeders and, at its peak, had about 300
canoodled (gee, |I've even forgotten how to spell it)
seat
hello :)
Hello. Just back to the grid after lunch and dessert. I made a white cake for a change as I rarely bake cakes, any cakes lately.
I lvoe that americans have white cakes adn yellow cakes
Just egg whites in the white cake.
Did you see the fancy eclipse Atalante?
ahhh, makes sense!
yes, I did! we had 95% coverage of teh sun. it was great
Wow, we would have had clouds and that makes viewing impossible. But, this time it wasn't even in our neighborhood so we just thought about how lucky folks were in England.
some pictures here: http://tinyurl.com/l9t4ofg
The tinyurt site did not come up correctly but thank you anyway.
how annoying, it works for me :(
I put it in correctly and will check it later also.
make sure you put it in the address bar of your browser, NOT the search bar
and you're lucky Atalante, we had thick cloud here, it didn't even go dark...
we were pretty lucky, it was mainly cloudy all morning, it just broke up enough!
!! we just got 3 inches of wet, heavy snow in under 2 hours!.. ugh... Nice that it is spring;)
still coming down:(
And now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!!
A male bear is called a boar or a he-bear. A female bear is called a sow or a she-bear. A group of bears is called a sleuth or sloth.
and a flock of ravens is called an unkindness
A group of crows is called a "murder"
and a group of whales is a pod
a group of teens are called an I-pod:)
lol
i have an unkindness of ravens behind my house. Never had them before.
a group of apes are called a "shrewdness"
ooh like that one.
then there is a "prickle" of porcupines:)
and a "smack" of jellyfish... lol who dreams these up I wonder?
and one I like... A "tower" of giraffes
a flamboyance of flamingos
It's a sting of jellyfish
and a clowder of cats
how do porcupines make love?
Very carefully.
yup
lo 4/5, second one, I'm really embarrassed
I finished my 2014 taxes! I owe $1330 federal and $335 state. Like I didn't already pay enough.
Just make the duck face before kissing...
We had to pay 47 G between Feds and State
A lo4 is used in textile factories to make fabric
WHAT, bichon??
doh
47g??!!
Sorry, 7 G
ty
That sounds better, way better than 47k!
we don't even have $7G in liquid assets
Oh, no! Can you borrow the money?
I do not have that problem. Just before tax time I suddenly decided to go on a trip. I would see all that i could see until I ran out of money... i had to turn back once I got to the mail box at the end of the driveway...
What are these "liquid assets" you speak of? lol
Haha.
Yes, that is hilarious.
The liquid assets are what we could put together in a day
Was the 7K unexpected?
NOt really, it had to do with my mother's death and her estate being combined with ours. I should have paid estimated taxes
I will be paying estimated quarterly taxes starting this year because I am now a business partner.
They are relentless are they not? By the time they were done with my beloveds mother's estate there was $700.00 left:(
I need to do some estate planning and update my will.
After the 2 year horror of dealing my m-i-l's will, I am determined to get a proper one done for myself so my kid does not have to go through that mess
Yes, it is owed to survivors.
The main problem was that half the stuff was verbal, half written down and the last update had been 10 years previous
I'll switch tax payments with you Scrabs
One bit of advice i took away after the 2 years of hell is this: "write it in the will!!!" Verbal bequeaths are not worth the air used to utter them
Yes, Crossy.
Doren, are you being hit hard?
hopefully not
Crossy, I just read your profile. I have always enjoyed your tidbits, or what have you, that you post. You know you can't please everyone, so why not just please yourself?? You are what matters and as long as it's not offensive, whom cares?? Bring it on!!!!
Even though my wife was the only female survivor, the remaining inheritors forced us to sell her mums wedding sets so they could squeeze the maximum cash possible out of the estate. Did not matter a whit that mum said she could have them when she was alive:( anyways i shall leave you to your taxes. Think I shall dive in this grid a bit and see if i can finish two days in a row:)
Ty for your support ,Snags...
I will keep on due to high response and popular demand. i should have never let a few sour apples get under my skin
I stopped counting the emails on this at 167, Snags:))
And they are still trickling in:)
So glad you have reconsidered. :)
There you are, crossy, 167 supporters.
you would be surprised how many very active babble lurkers we have. I got to speak with quite a few of them over the last little while;)
I lurk because some of the babblers can be unkind. I come out to play when I see friendly icons.
see, it only takes a few to ruin a good thing.
I love the early morning babblers. i get to chat with all the aussie, U.K, and euro players
I promise not to let them get under my skin like that again. they are only a handful anyways> perhaps the perfect tidbit will break off thier hard crust one day:)
darn typos
We can only hope.
them?
dyslexic fingers, crossy
My fingers rebel every now and again:)
I believe I've ever seen a comment in the chat about the tidbits.. but then I'm not here all the time either
hello friends. I like crossy's tidbits
Mine do it all the time. The brain goes faster than the fingers
Howdy, bugsaw and ty:)
That is exactly it, jaxx. i am often thinking faster that the fingers will type
And the d*** cursor often forgets to move at all
I agree with jaxx tho. I only come out when I feel comfortable and lurk most of the time.
maybe your fingers are just drunk crossy? :D
I wish... this place is dryer than a popcorn fart atm;(
Hi, Bugs. how goes it?
I look forward to your tidbits, Crossy! Ignore the meanies. If they don't like what they see in the chat they can ignore it. I ignore the snarky comments.
drier
I shall, scrabby:)
*gets image of people skulking around corners and hiding behind boxes*
There is a bit of the green eyed monster in there as well.
things are going better here jaxx. Mr Bugs finally got hearing aids and our lives are transformed! My sympathies to all of you who live with an equally stubborn, tho loveable person.
Glad to hear it, Bugs. My husband takes after his mother who was the most cussed person I ever met
lol, bugsaw. My grandad used to turn down his hearing aid so he could ignore my grammy's calls for chores:) She said she used to get so angry lol
Don't give Mr Bugs ideas, crossy
and he would act all innocent and turn it back up once he knew she was coming into the room
as long as he turns it on when he sees me coming, we are all good
do the new ones still have volume control settings?
the other day he came in from outside claining that blue jays should be banned -- they are too darn noisey!
<---thinking of better turn-ons
easy ruru. Hit the showers:)
one kind leads to another ruru.
Our next door neighbour has 5 dogs and he lets them all out at once. Now that is noisy. Then he had the nerve to complain that the crow who visits our birdtable was too noisy.
Well, he will just have to deal with the birds. What does he want? for you to shoo them??
I love crows. They are smart and remember nice people as well as the cranky ones
shoot
I am feeling inclined to shoot the darn dogs, especially the really yappy one
52 left and I have had enough of this grid. See all of you in the morning. Sleep well, folks.
Corvines as a species are very clever. My sister had a baby magpie that she rescued. He used to answer the phone!
bye Scrabbler
Night, scrabbler. take care and pleasant dreams
I raised a couple of baby crows that fell out of the nest when I was a kid. They ate canned cat food.
We never to see crows in flocks but now the families fly together.
they didn't drive you stark raven mad?
HaHa, Dorens. very good
good one Dorens!
We raised a robin once:)
i remember you telling me that, crossy, when we were trying to raise that baby robin last year
The hard par was regurgitating all those worms...:(
I found a robin's egg once and put it under my pillow to be the mother bird and keep it warm. Problem was that by bedtime I forgot it was there and slept on it. My mother was not impressed
You should have tried mealworms, crossy. All nice and crunchy. lol
trying to hatch birds isn't all it's cracked up to be bugs
lol
What did you feed your robin?
well done ruru
We started with baby formulae and an eyedropper
Mini mealworms. my husband was mummy and the bird came when called.
then it was bugs, worms and high protein dog food as I recall. he used to steal food from the dogs dish
omg crossy. I had to do that with a drug addicted baby once. It took forever!
We avoided all bread products including crackers... used to give him the trotts;(
they should never allow babies to try crack..it's too addicting
Not the bugs, worms and dog food I hope Bugs.
sorry jaxx. He was so uncomfortable all the time he just screamed so I had to time putting half a dropper full of milk on his tongue so he could swallow it without breathing it in. There were times we were so tired that I am sure bugs and worms were considered
Just joking, Bugs. Poor little boy. Why parents do this to their children is beyond me.
I alwasy thot of him when I meet adults or teens who were addicted at birth. No wonder they are damaged
It is a funny old world. There are folk desperate for kids that would give anything to have them. Then there are those who inlict great pain on the chidren they have.
inflict even.
so true jaxx
