good morning all
{{hugs}} sprite dear
*hugs rose* Hello dear friend, how was your day?
all good here. how was your night?
mine was good! Long hours and no bad dreams.
oh, nice.how wonderful. long overdue. xoxox
amen to that, lol. So tell me about your day!
outside very cold and wet so have stayed indoors all day. our car had it's first 'check-up' today. all is well.
fine that the pretty car is doing well. But yuck @ cold wet and indoors.
lollll, and don was so befuddled when he got up he made the coffees in the wrong mugs. his in mine, and mine in his.
LOL! And did you guys try and drink from your own mug and went ughhhhhh?
well i did....don didn't realise until he got home and i told him. he then said .... so that is why my coffee was so sweet..
roflol!
sprite, so what has happened that your night has turned around? surely it can't be because they are away.
I don't think so, no. It just happens every once in a while.
well i am glad it has happened. do you feel energised?
to be honest, no. Am very tired. Even cancelled my plans for today, to meet up with a couple of friends.
awww sprite. but that can happen. your spring has unwound, and you're feeling it.
yeah, that is how it feels. It is no biggie. And it felt ok to cancel, it was the right decision :)
good. are you going to nap later?
probably. I take a nana nap almost daily, grin. Old before my time!
btw, sprite. my LEFT knee is giving me trouble. shooting pains, and every now and again when i walk it gives way.
omg darling. Now that sucks. Could it be you have overtaxed it, trying to go easy on your right knee?
probably, sprite. am gonna talk to doc john.
good idea. when will you see him? Tomorrow?
will ring him tomorrow. i like to try to not intrude too much.
but you were gonna have another treatment this week, right?
supposed to, but he is still trying to source the equipment needed.
ah man. Please call him tomorrow. Both for the knee and for checking how it goes with the equipment.
oh, my publisher is gonna send me the files of my two published books, rose. So that means I can at least start my own translation/rewriting when I am done with my paid one. Still no dice about the official translation and the publisher himself is... you guessed it... on vacation this week.
don't forget that i can proof read for you.
oh I won't! I would very much like for you to read chapter by chapter, if you don't think that would frustrate you too much.
no problems, sprite.
also, I would need you to be merciless... can you? :)
yup, i will be a stickler for correct grammar etc.
thank you :D
am gonna put some more time in my official translating job. I want to start on my own :)
yeah, one thing at a time. xoxox
yes, or things will get me5.
fireflies
WTG SPRITE !!!!!!
oh, and on you tube. there is a clip of a koala walking into the ER of hamilton hospital. it is so funny.
well, no time like the present and all that jazz. Am gonna work on my translation job. *hugs* my darling... enjoy your evening and sleep well.
awww that is sweet.
take it easy, darling. small chunks. xoxox
will do. Checked the vid. Sweet and funny.
*poof*
what sprite said. xoxox
Good morning, everyone:) today is already one of those days; my eyes popped open at 04:45 and that was it. i was up. So i made the best of it and went out and did some grocery shopping. Just getting back now:))
good grief crossy. what stores are open at that time?
We have one big box grocer that is open 24/7
It is a Metro/A&P grocer
They stock shelves at night so they train one of the stock guys on cash and keep a single till open from midnight till dawn
the only stores we have open 24/7 are at the petrol/gas servos. and they are waaaay too expensive.
Guess they figure that if they have three stock guys in at night anyways, they may as well sell some stuff while they are at it.
and the bakery in store has to start at 4 am as well. Got some nice fresh buns that were still on the oven trays cooling:))
Sometimes it pays to be an early bird:))
oh yum, crossy. my absolute downfall. still warm bread.
How are you this fine day, rose?
We are getting a whole string of days in the 20C range and are enjoying it to the max:)
Hello kids.

Geeze, Babble Lite is getting really tiresome
what's Babble Lite?
Small grid...Babble Lite...another joke goes out the lead balloon window...
oh, oh sorry!
Do you know what is the single S in the second column?
se7
Starts like a drug to make you sleep, ends like a condition that describes people who like to have sex with dead people
or people who like... pretty much anything :) lol
thanks
Margaritas, mojitos and nachos available all day in the festively decorated PB bar
I saw people saying yesterday if it was "May the 4th be with you" then maybe that makes today "Revenge of the 5th"
Bless their hearts, those Star Wars people are totally obsessed. : D
*shakes maracas* Buenos dias, amigos!
Alas. My maracas are not worthy.
I didn't know we were rating maracas around here
Only on Cinco de Mayo.
I want to be a judge
No fair, you are used to all those silicone maracas on The Left Coast
true.. they have a different feel.. but I am impartial
I'm like the Tom Brady of Maracas
:D
Saintly, gentleman that you are. *Bows*
*notices Judi has gone deathly silent*
She probably finished this tiny grid in minutes and left. Oh wait, that was you.
:D.. wham bam thank you maam
it did take me longer than it should have molly
I couldn't find the e words until I think someone mentioned it
These grids are getting pretty wham bam.
do you think it's a build up to a gigantic one?
Who knows, this place defies odds
Hello again!
It's!! Car!!!
Hello luv
Uh oh! She has fallen on the keyboard!
Fireworks!
HAGD all
hello 68 to go
sex with DEAD people? Reminds me of the movie Brazil!
nbt nbs woo hoo
sex with dead people? what?
it was a clue for se7...
oh.. the ending I get it
somebody's mind is weird, if you ask me.
Idiot apology, keyboard cleaning mishap
My mind is weird? Well, kind of hard to clue ilia.
Ophelia feels left out now
Kid deviants or sex with dead people deviants.
um, a blood condition where you don't clot? a bone in the pelvis?
that's okay, I haven't thought about the movie Brazil for years!
<---Will wait for Harp to clue the ilia words from now on. Goes to the weird people corner.
I love the movie brazil
De Niro was fantastic in it
I'll have to figure out streaming one of these days so I can watch it.
Do you remember the line, ruru? Care for a little ***********?
no.. I don't... I just remember the scene with his mother that was hysterically funny
One of the great cult movies of the 70's along with Harold and Maude
and Buckaroo Banzai
Harold and Maude was great ..loved that one too
and The Return of the Secaucus Seven
(oh, and Star Wars....)
I didn't like Star Wars
I got sick of it. I was a projectionist and I watched it three times a day for six months. Didn't hold up to the test of time.
when I lived in Bend Oregon.. that was the only movie playing for 9 months in all three theatres
We had a double header with that and Saturday Night Fever. I got transferred to a different theater about the same time as the movies got transferred.....
the only animal I've found so far is a parasite.
any clues for the 7s?
just got ch7/30
Appropriate for Cinco de Mayo
clues for the other 7's welcomed???
se7...first three of drug that puts you to sleep + last 4 of blood disease where people bleed a lot
(Trying not to give "weird mind" clues)
LOVED Harold and Maude!
it's currently one of the midnite movies at our local arthouse :-)
ha7...first three of Angel headdress + The name for the 15th of March
I have returned. Was flipping through channels during lunch. Came across a movie starring Erik Estrada. It was titled: "Chupacabra vs. the Alamo". I busted out laughing.
hello everyone :-)
Judi MacArthur :))
Wonder if that was done before or after C.H.I.P.S lol
After. He was much older. I think it must have been fairly recent.
hey nan, crossy, judi, molly :-)
Howdy, Une
*Hands Judi a soft taco
Yum. Please pass the ch5.
nice cinco de mayo icon, molly LOL
I was inspired by Judi's pinata
:D
Fireworks! Everyone FIESTA!
congrats, mi amiga!!!
grats, judi
Muchas gracias. And now, I shall poof.
Judi poofitos
yo soy poofita tambien!
Andele arriba!!
I am so tired of latin terminology, words from obscure dialects, foreign words we couldn't possibly know, ridiculous spellings for words we do know and non-words that if it weren't for the great company, I would give this game up. (my rant for the day :D)
Good for you Nan, so true. Alas, when I complain about things like that, I get nasty profile comments.
Enable is mysterious and operates on a higher plane:)
I wish enable was like wikipedia, then we could each take a letter and eliminated all those crazy words
The se 7 is a prime example. I doubt it is common knowledge that that word describes a special seat where a holy man parks his caboose:)
Most people wouldn't know all the scientific terminology either
However, it does broaden our language horizons :)
I'm at an age where I don't need any more broadening -- of any kind!
lol
*!* ta da *!*
yaaa!
Having 6 windows replaced tomorrow, so need to get my hubby moving to help take down curtains, blinds and move furniture. Back at the flip - hagd everyone
Broadening for what? Boring people with words they have never heard before?
You never know when you will one day need alternate words for a needle case
Might turn the tides of destiny lol
stats for the bottom right A please?
m
sorry! Hi!
Hello, Enomis :-)
Aa 5/10?...I peeked...
In a typical Zoom clue...double vowel + consonant + double vowel
Thanks, Pen & Molly.
And that was not STATS so I suck and will now go to the corner
That is okay, Molly. Got it!
I never would have found it anyway, lol...
Why "I peeked"? Is it a sin to look at the list?
May i say that was an excellent clue though :-)
Not a sin, but I did not want to list just yet...
Anything for my friend Zoom : D
Okay, sometimes I wonder why people act like "listing" or looking at the list is a crime. It's there for help. And considering the odd words in these grids, it doesn't seem like a bad thing to lean on.
I almost always use the list near the end. I just prefer to get as many as possible without it first. I will ask for a stat in the chat log so I do not look at other stats in the list. it is just a preference of mine :-)
Same here....
I guess it's just me. I figure help is help, whether it's stats from the chat, or stats from the list. Or looking at morewords or a2z, or getting clues in the chat.
Well I have to go study my Chinese. Bbl to find the last 25. Bye!
School day is done:) The kids have their exams tomorrow, then it is on to the final 6 week class of the year for most of them:)
Are they doing well, Crossy?
I am surprised at how adept the 18-22 year-old crowd are when it comes to finishing assignments at the last possible second:) The mature students, on the other hand, tend to use every scrap of time given for each piece and obsess the details.
Drives me nuts to watch the kids laze about till the final day..
most are solidly in the 70-80% range with a few being 90%+
and a few are also coasting to a 55-65%
I know someone who is in University here in the UK and seems not bothered about the work.Just seems to be mucking about. What a waste of time and money.
Now that is sad considering the expense of attending.
Mummy and daddy must be footing the bill...
Yes they are hence the attitude of who cares.
I think it cost my brother just of $50,000.00 to get his degree--and 15 years to pay it back along with his better half's school debt
just shy*
If I were mummy and addy of your friend I would be demanding status reports monthly.
You can get a government grant here as most universty fees are around the £9000 mark. and once you have finished and in the work place and earning a decent wage hen you pay it back.
Then if he does not make an effort he can go out in the word and get a McJob instead
I have no idea how they check up on him. i do not get involved if i can help it..lol
Boy, you are so negative!
wow. That is about half the cost of over here. Minimum. Some degrees can set you back 100 thousand before all is said and done
Not negative. I just would not support my kid if he was not giving an honest effort
Cross fingers for him then ...
University is a privilege, and not something to be frittered away
I suppose it depends on what you are studying, Crossy. Plus these are government backed placements. If you go private then you are talking big money.
Great attitude!
Indeed. zooz. there are may varying factors
here, were have a firefighters college course where just the equipment alone will cost the student $15,000.00
That does not include the cost of the course itself
Wow that is big bucks!
Zzz ...
it is indeed. makes sure they only get candidates who are serious about it
My daughter worked 3 jobs during college, I could not help much, but did what I could, and she worked darn hard and graduated with honors......whereas her roommate's parents paid for her and she ended up flunking out
Your daughter knew the true value and cost of her education
she did, and it served her well
I am not 100% sure but here in the UK they have apprenticeships for firefighters so you get paid very little but you learn on the job and at the end of your exam have a guaranteed job!
So she did not waste her chance
no, but I think when you have to work that hard to get it you appreciate it
indeed you do
I agree with that, Kalea!
Same goes for many things in life
true
The true value of any commodity is not the price sticker, but the sweat equity needed to gain it. i remember my first car--a 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix. Took me a year to save and as I recall it cost me $1100.00 lol
What is car insurance like there, Crossy? Here a young driver getting insurance for his/her car can cost mor than the value of the car..Crazy!
My parents didn't have much money, so I did babysitting and odd jobs and bought my own bike for $25.....man, I took good care of that bike!
I have been driving 33 years and with the new jeep it is running me about a thousand/year with optional coverage for occasional drivers. New male drivers like my 20 year old son can expect to pay 2000-4000 per year depending on the vehicle and the area in which he will be driving
You can save, however, if you leave collision coverage off of the policy.
and if you set a high deductable
Here you can put another person on your own policy. My father has done that with my sister (his daughter)
I will not do that. I have seen too many parents get their nice, inexpensive coverage ruined when their kid destroys the car
So your son is driving now?
Nope. i told him that if he saves the insurance money, I will buy him the car
Is it the same there, Crossy? Here they have to pass a theory test and a practicle test for driving?
Like zooz said, the car is the easy part .
it is the same, zooz
Oh that's good. When kids have a job and live at home, they can often save up money for that kind of thing.
sexual discrimination is still rampant in the auto insurance fiend. However, the stats back them up; many 16-25 year-old males are a ticking bomb behind the wheel.
field
There are at least 5 deaths a year due to teens going too fast and crashing their cars here on the isle of wight. So sad.
the cost drops after 25 years of age.
Time for me to eat my evening meal. Happy babbling everyone :-)
Bye Zoom, have a nice evening.
