hi Sprite
hey flosey :) How are you doing?
{{hugs}} dearest sprite. g'day flosey
*hugs rose* Hello my dear friend. Just sent you an email.
hi Rose, feeling better?
feeling much better. slept til 10am today.
thanx sprite
wow, good for you
wow good job! And great to hear you are feeling so much better.
I do not remember when I last slept that late!!
rose had some catching up to do. All that fever and then a stay in the hospital. Who can sleep well in a hospital??
well i have just been through 10 nights of disturbed sleep. guess i am making up for it.
snap :D
of course snap... lollll
*giggles*
worzel is a phantom today
have spent most of the day lying down, reading. actually ate my lnch with an appetite.
ah, progress is being made, rose. Very wise of you to stay put. It's been quite the ordeal.
helps when you have a good book
sure does flosey. currently reading the judas strain. riveting!
I'll write that one down
written by james rollins
is that from the sigma force series? By rollins?
yes sprite
right, it is. Very good book. Good series actually.
7 to go, maybe in the morning, must get to bed, have to catch the 10: morning ferry - meet with lawyer and after that meet friends for lunch
sleep well, flosey. I hope the lawyer stuff is not scary. *hugs*
sweet dreams flosey
no, Rose, about settling the properties in order that there'll be no hard feelings - one, might be better for me to sell and distribute the money
apparently this lawyer deels in such cases
ah good. Wise plan. Have a grand day then :)
it goes to daughters but that means they have to pay taxes while still living in Vancouver so if it sells before we go, it's just a case of leaving cash for them
the boys names are already on the two farm properties we have
our names just drop off as we do just that
smart thinking. Death taxes is one thing I have never ever understood. So totally unfair.
pays to keep living, Sprite - old age + Canada pensions plus work pensions
plus we don't want to be without your company for ages, flosey
a friend is going to give a talk on dieing with dignity at September's OAP meeting
beautiful theme
don't worry, I aim to beat my Mother - she was almost 94
good! I love seeing you here.
ty Sprite, I enjoy chatting with you and Rose
:) Sleep well and dream even better. Hope to see you tomorrow.
feeling drowsy - best time to hit the sack
{{hugs}} dear flosey.
we'll be back tomorrow night
goodnight and hugs to you both
rose, did you see my pictures?
duh me, i didn't scroll down far enough. what a pity it has to be cut.
it is kinda pretty, isn't it? But imagine how much joy the recipient will have from it.
is it naturally curly?
just wavy, a little bit
i would think a pageboy cut, with turned in layer around your face. perhaps leave it a little longer at the front to curl under your chin.
and it doesn't HAVE to be cut, don't worry. It is just that A. I think I am too old to walk around with loose hair of this length and B. after the surgery, 90% of the women have severe hairloss for a year or so. Thought if I was gonna donate my hair to charity, I'd better do it while there was still something to donate.
sounds good!
Hi and hugs
{{hugs}} liz girl
hi Liz :D *hugs* to the both of you.
How are you both today?
I am fine. Happy to have rose back home and feeling better. Ready to have my hair cut short. And rooting for my kids, who both will be doing English exam this afternoon.
taking quietly still. slept til 10am. spent most of the day lying on bed reading. actually ate lunch with an appetite.
and you and your beloved?
Sounds very good on all counts.
As ever, we're absolutely fine :)
No pics for me sprite? :(
great :D Always when I think of you two, I picture you doing jigsaws and walking on the beach.
oh sure! Hold on, here they come.
Good luck to your kids. I'm sure they'll ace it
And Peter amongst the mozzies, chopping the next bit of fence down, ready for new fencing!
good man, Peter!
I think so.
I couldn't agree more, grin. Though you know him best. But he certainly found his way to my heart in a heartbeat, just like you did.
But I'd say the same about you - Rose and Don too
I keep thinking how very very lucky I am to have met you all
amazing, isn't it? Makes me feel so blessed.
yeah, exactly that feeling. *group hug*
Definitely
{{group hug}} ditto what sprite said
clearly, I came in at the right point... group hug {[{[ }]}]
Hi and hugs jbp - it's been a while.
indeed!
*opens an arm, pulls jbp into the group, squeeezzzzeeee*
g'day jbp. {{hugs}} for you too honey
awwww (hugging y'all back)
how have you been, jbp?
Gotta love babble friends
hanging in.
babble friends make fun times more fun, and bad times better to bear.
my dad's health is failing, so I'm spending pretty much all day every day at his bedside.. not to sound dramatic, b/c it's not like that, really.
but I am glad to find at least 1 good thing for being out of work
That's very hard for you.
also, I get to stay up to a million'o clock with you all
maybe that is why you are out of work now... to give you the chance to be there for your dad and go through this phase with him together.
yeah. it is what it is. I'm grateful for my husband and that my sister and I are close, geographically and emotionally
I like that thinking
well, I don'tknow if theat's the universe's plan for me, but I'll take it. ;-)
hehehe indeed!
well i hope you8 all are well too
we keep going back and forth between early spring and full summer here
kinda zany
I think it has a certain beauty, if someone can die in the company of his loved ones, and there is enough support and love to guide all of them through the process. Not easy. But, in a way, beautiful.
he has his snarky and lucid moments still, but i like to flatter myself that I am giving him peace by being there...
you are doing better than we do here then. We oscillate between winter and spring. It is the end of may and we still have occasional frost at night, for crying out loud.
I'll stay quiet on this subject!
us too
I don't think that is flattering yourself at all. I am certain your company is giving him just that.
aren't you in fall/winter, Lizlin?
Well this is a delightful surprise. I have not seen many of you in a long time ... I normally don't play at this hour. (waving to sprite and all)
lol... Liz has lovely weather?
hey ch! *hugs* How nice to see you.
Can't stay quiet dos you all need to be here. 25 C today and winter begins at the end of the month!
well, my dad and I have always had a rocky relationship (I'm the younger, more rebelllious daughter) so ...my sister and I have lots to amuse us
sounds about perfect to me, Liz!
It's still so hard watching a person fade away.
rebellious, hm... a good thing. Shows you have power and energy :)
anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say hi to all y'all... I wish you all a peaceful night/pleasant day. ;-) will be back to rassle this grid later
thanks, all
Sleep well jbp
have a good day, jbp. And lots of love and hugs for the whole process with your dad.
And from me too
Hi ch - didn't mean to ignore you
ditto. Been where you are, and know how difficult it can be. Light and energy to you, jbp.
how have you been, ch?
fireflies
Well, I'm being checked for some cognitive issues right now. (OH! Congratulations, sprite!) I have an EEG tomorrow and am required to stay awake for 24 hours before, with (this part is the worst) NO coffee.
Congrats sprite. I'll look forward to seeing the pics. Servers playing up right now.
So feeling particularly grateful for babble time :)
Good luck with the tests and staying awake for that time.
wow that is severe. Lots of walking around and taking walks? I hope the test will go well and the findings will be good.
WTG SPRITE!
ok Liz, they will keep :)
Thanks. The MRI showed I have an "unremarkable" brain. Never thought I'd be happy to hear how UNremarkable my brain is. :) Thanks, Sprite. We'll see. My beloved is wonderful.
hehehe in medical terms it is so nice to be unremarkable :)
:D And sprite, how are you? I do think of you whenever I see your name. We share the same underlying current that sometimes tries to pull us under.
yay for good beloveds. We are blessed that way. Rose's Don did great with her illness, and my love is great with my new diet... truly a bliss to have a loving beloved.
It is, isn't it? What diet are you on?
I am doing fine at the moment. Am done with therapy, have been going strong for over a year now without extra help. And you?
carb-free diet. I am morbidly obese and cannot easily lose weight. Am going for a gastric bypass, but need to lose 10 kg before the operation. So we needed drastic measures... am seeing a dietician who suggested carb-free.
That's so good to hear. I'm very aware of managing my depression, and so when my cognitive issues started cropping up, I did a self check, wondering if maybe they were psychological. But there is no underlying sucking going on, and my life is very happy and stress-free. Plus, the symptoms are such I've never had before --- complete memory blanks, burning food on the stove because I forgot, tripping over words, not rememebring certain words or faces. Kind of anxiety inducing, but so far I've got hope for a simply, treatable, outcome.
Carb-free! Those do work, that's for sure.
yeah that could be caused by a load of innocent things, ch. I totally understand the anxiety, but your hope is very realistic.
I will say this about the diet: I feel a lot better since I started doing it. More energy, clearer in my head, sharper and more alive.
Sprite, so glad to know you are doing the diet in a way that's healthy, with a dietician's input. You'll get there. My stepsister had gastric bypass about 10 years ago, and is still doing well. Carb-free does feel better. I've been on it before, and defnitely felt more energy and mental acuity. Mmmm... maybe I should go back on it -- might help my brain, and certainly my enormous thighs.
could very well be, ch. And maybe the doctors already did, but in case they didn't: you might want to have your blood tested, extensively, for vitamins. It is very easy to have low vit D or B, for instance, and that causes the weirdest symptoms.
starting to feel a little shaky. going to lie down for a bit. good luck for tomorrow, ch. {{hugs}} dear sprite. hope you have a good day.xoxoxox
*hugs* my dear rose. Take care of yourself. Sleep well and have a nice, lazy day tomorrow :)
They did check for low levels of vitamin B and for thyroid issues, but I'm fine on those. At this point, we've ruled out vitamins, thyroid, brain tumor, silent stroke, brain plaque ... now I'm hoping the EEG will show mini-seizures that can be treated with medication. My neurologist also has me taking a battery of neuropsych tests to determine the level of impairment. Anyway ... I don't mean to go on about it. It's lovely to see you again. And you too Liz (not ignoring you!) Hello grannyrose, and thank you. {{{ hugs }}}
Feel better rose, hugs
will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, ch. Must be off, alas. Great talking to you. Liz, *hugs* too, for the both of you.
Hugs sprite
I plan to dive back into the grid, so adieu to you all. {{{ hugs all around }}}
20 left for later. Good luck with everything ch
Good morning, doing the laundry so I'm up at the crack of dawn again.
hi, all...ch1212, it's been forever!
Hi Angel
we're just about ready to build an ark in the back yard here So much rain...
We have had a bit, but not much. It's cooled down quite a bit.
we are si accustomed to drought here, it's hard to know how to react when it does rain a lot.
Have to get laundry, then breakfast, bbl
Good morning, everyone:)
morning, crossy
Interesting. Reading that some areas in California may institute "groundwater metering," so even though it may be your well, on your property, this may allow those in charge to slap limitations on how much water you draw from beneath your own. Things must be getting very tight indeed in some areas:( property
mm, posting moved the word property:)
crossy, it's one thing to take water from the property -- but quite another to move the property itself! What are you up to?
move the property? it is not about moving the property. the story was about drilling on your own property and regulating how much water you can extract from beneath your own feet. I am not "up to" anything. Just commenting on the drought out west
My brother is out west and I try and keep track of the drought areas around him is all.
Just joshing you. And yes, the water shortage is severe. It rained (sort of) today for the first time in months -- I call it a "falling fog". Very dangerous because of all the oil on the streets, and all the drivers that drive faster in the rain (what's that about?). You NEED water ... when you have baco.... oops.
HI all. That drought is reaching dangerous proportions.
lol. Do not understand you. jwr. Indeed, scrabby it is getting desperate in some areas.
I am fortunate to live next to a great lake, as you do, Crossy.
We should count our blessings indeed, scrabby
Hey, when it gets really tough - we can trade: I'll give swap you a couple of rashers for, say, a pint ??
lol, prefer our own local bacon, jwr, but thanks anyways
It all evens out. If you live long enough.
ok...
anyways, scrabby, is that naughty wire-chewing bunny behaving today?
Remy is sitting next to me demanding to be petted. As usual.
that is cute. I was always under the impression that rabbits are not really social animals. have never had a rabbit as a pet myself.
They are very social animals. Remy is very bonded to me. He sits next to me on the couch and nudges me with his nose or front paws if I ignore him. He is at the gate at the bottom of the stairs in the morning, excited to see Mama.
lol. It paints a cute mental picture:)
Will they go up and down the stairs at will if you forget to use the gate?
I had a wee Netehrland Dwarf bunny named Sebastian that slept next to me in bed. He jumped up next to me when I got into bed. During the night I would find him next to my head or down at my feet.
Yes, they do stairs easily.
Thought so. I have seen them do some incredible leaps in the wild.
And I had 2 bigg bunnies that could jump over regular gates so I had to buy tall ones intended for big dogs.
reminds me. the other day the mrs and I saw a white-tailed dear clear an 8 foot high chain-link fence on the hill. Was one of those time I wish i owned a quality camera:(
I love watching the deer leap.
it seems they do it almost without effort. the all must have had a good foraging winter as well. They are all well-fed and glossy:)
a few that i have seen are even almost "chubby" lol
The deer here starved through March with a deep snowpack. They were eating twigs and branches.
:(
I need to get ready for work. Enjoy the day.
Hello everyone!
hi car
and by Scrabbler
bye, that is
Good morning from freezing Connecticut
gm, everyone! tadone! fun grid.
Woot dawg
hi bichon!
Hagd dawg
London is blue and sunny today!
hello dear friends. The name of my town is almost in the grid today!
Hi /trif, Alleyn
For the want of an L
the loo was lost
Yaa for sunny London! sunny here as well, but we started the day with a balmy 3C :)
I went looking for "why do they call it a loo" once and got this far..."When people flung their potty waste out of the window, they would shout "Gardez l'eau""...Flung it out the window???
better than keeping it in the house, dear one
Yes, sanitation in those days was lacking
True. Then there were several other explanations, one of them being the toilet was in Room 100
Yes, outhouses were a big step up at the time for many
whenever people ask that old theoretical question, "if you could travel through time, when would you go to?" I always say "some time after penicillin and the flush toilet
... a wise choice
indeed. some of those old sulfa-based meds were nasty. Yaa for penicillin!
Wasn't the flush toilet invented by Tom Crapper
John Harrington made one in 1595 apparently:)
... yeah ... but it doesn't do much good unless you've got a municipal sewage system that works well enough to transport the waste material away
Or a septic tank
I believe crossy is right, and that is how we came to call it a "john"
But like dose mentioned, I am not sure what plumbing and septic went along with it
Bich...I found this...Thomas Crapper is credited with improving the early flush toilet but he did not invent the toilet from scratch.
Oh doody
lol. it is poop day in babble!:)
nbt tra la la
Who invented the bidet. That was progress
The french would be my guess:)
another exciting day at school for me, btw - the fifth day of sitting outside the girls room during state mandated testing, signing girls in and out. zzzzzzzzzzz
bring a good book, trif:)
even that gets tiring after the third hour, crossy
:(
Now don't you wish you had left that bottle of Fireball in your purse?
A decent manager would rotate the "guards"
hahaha - we were just discussing fireball last night! For me, the tiny bottle is a two serving bottle. for my sister and my daughter, it's a one serving bottle, apparently. It was a lively discussion, that is for sure
we were all on our way to boston for Primo's last art show. He graduates college tomorrow----> can't quite wrap my head around it.
