Hi all and so happy you're having a good time in BC, Ru :)

1:17 am

Also that you're enjoying Ru's visit, Flosey :)

1:18 am

hi Liz, we've been having a ball

1:18 am

Babble meets are great fun - the people I've met are so lovely - wish I'd had the time to meet all you BC people 2 years ago.

1:19 am

were you not in our area at all, Liz? or tight schedule?

1:20 am

Very tight schedule - an organised tour with Scenic and then 7 day Inside Passage cruise.

1:20 am

Probably has less free time in Vancouver / Victoria than in some of our other stops.

1:21 am

I love the Vancouver area - my dad worked there for over 2 years in the 70s

1:22 am

lovely clean city

1:23 am

Back in a minute or 2 - domestic stuff calls :(

1:24 am

I'll have to finish up tomorrow, too tired tonight

1:24 am

goodnight all

1:35 am

Sleep well Flosey

3:29 am

anyone here?

3:33 am

Hi flosey

3:35 am

hi Dianne

3:35 am

Trouble sleeping?

3:36 am

had gone to sleep but neighour's dog was barking, he's tied up, woke me

3:44 am

try again, good night

5:18 am

good morning all

Howdy! How's tricks?

5:19 am

hi matty :) All good here, except the ole body protesting a bit. How are you?

Not bad - at the out-laws (Jeff's folks) - sweet people but can be a little wearing so have retreated briefly to Babble and drink a cuppa :)

You don't by any chance have the OT6?

5:20 am

ah good move! A little bit of me-time goes a long way.

5:20 am

um no, not yet, just entered my first few words. Will help you look.

Sorry - jumping the gun :)

I hadn't realised you said hello as soon as you started :)

It's apparently an OT6/18 - I'd swear I've tried every possible combination

5:21 am

*grins* It is the first thing I do

5:22 am

got it. Now to think how to clue it.

I shall await your brain with bated breath ;)

5:22 am

lol

Got it!

Found it with my monkey fingers

5:23 am

let me see... a magical brew, drop first and last letter. Then add the first 2 letters of another word for ocean.

5:24 am

lol! Good for you. And saves you from having to figure out my clumsy clue.

Let's see how' I'd clue it - OT + the operating system for Apple devices + vowel?

Not that clear, and a bit geeky... ;)

5:25 am

hahahaha would have worked for me

I shall go into the kitchen in a minute, have a smoke (Margaret - crazy (in a good way) Irish mother-out-law smokes in there) - the upside is I can smoke sitting down (I don't smoke in my own house); the downside is I end up smoking too much ;(

5:27 am

enjoy her company... and the smoke :)

5:31 am

Good morning.

5:32 am

hi sukee :)

5:32 am

Hi sprite.

5:32 am

how are you doing, sukee? Are the muscles behaving a little?

5:33 am

Not bad actually, the warmer weather makes everything better.

5:33 am

And, we finally had a thunderstorm with really heavy rain.

5:33 am

There was actually flooding on my street.

5:33 am

Good morning, my friends:)

5:33 am

Hi crossy.

5:33 am

ah good. On both counts. Warmer weather is helpful, and a bit less tension in the air as well, I bet.

5:34 am

hiya crossy *hugs* How are you and your lovely Elegant?

5:34 am

Supposed to rain all day today too, but we really needed it.

5:34 am

((sprite)) We are both doing fine, and how are you today?

5:35 am

howdy, sukee

5:35 am

all well here, just back and hips hurting. Otherwise all fine :)

5:35 am

Hi crossy.

5:36 am

I feel bad I didn't ask how you were sprite. Hope the pain passes soon.

5:36 am

This year, with both the wife and I, it is our knees that ache almost constantly:(

5:37 am

dear sukee, don't feel bad. It's all good :)

5:37 am

ugh crossy, that is not pleasant. Such important joints, the knees.

5:38 am

A friend told me to mix water and ginger powder and rub it on sore joints. It seems to work for a little while. I put it on my knees and hips and the thumb that is always sore.

5:38 am

That is why we have embraced hiking the way we have. We are both at the "Use them, or lose them" stage, especially me with my bursitis and the extra pounds that I am carrying.

5:39 am

I'm trying a challenge to walk more, I have a pedometer I'm wearing for 3 weeks. Walking is definitely a good way.

5:39 am

are you taking glucasamine chondroitin?

5:39 am

Abraham Lincoln once said "the best doctor is your left leg and your right leg" :)

5:40 am

Yes, we take glucosamine

5:40 am

walking is one of the very best ways to excercise.

5:40 am

good. Thought you would, but never hurts to check.

5:40 am

Does it work? I keep seeing the commercials with Joe Carter :)

5:41 am

oh yes, it works. I notice as soon as I forget taking them. In a few days, the pain is much worse.

5:41 am

Glucosamine is a long, slow process, but It does help, somewhat, however, at the end of the day, knee deterioration is what it is.

5:42 am

I should ask my doctor about it, as long as it doesn't come in horse sized pills I could take it.

5:42 am

No, they are not that big

5:42 am

it is in rather big pills here. But you can cut them up if you want, they are not time released.

5:42 am

about 375 mg in size

5:43 am

size of a standard tylenol capsule ours are

5:44 am

Not cheap though. best to buy in bulk

5:44 am

I have weird knees, they never developed fully. I always knew I had small knee caps but turns out there is a name for that.

5:45 am

never heard of that before. Sounds unpleasant, sukee :(

5:46 am

Hasn't really bothered me although kneeling has always been uncomfortable for me, even before my mobility issues. They are very easily moved.

5:47 am

I have never been able to kneel either.

5:49 am

We hope we can halt the degeneration, but we shall see;(

5:49 am

It's funny, had all these issues my whole life but never diagnosed until I was in my 50s. Made me fail grade 9 gym and the year because I couldn't do what the others could, gym teachers assumed laziness. Thank goodness you can't fail because of gym anymore. Same as I got criticized for poor handwriting as a child and not being able to tie my shoe laces as quickly as others. It all adds up. Anyway, enough of my story :)

5:50 am

I am sorry you were given such a hard time about things you could not help, sukee. *hug*

5:50 am

A friend got a knee replacement last year, she is very happy.

5:50 am

Come on up sukee. We are hitting an amazing part of the Bruce trail today:)

Can anyone tell me anything about the 4 Es in the fourth column?

5:51 am

Although it took a long time for her to heal.

5:51 am

Sorry Matty, don't have those yet.

5:51 am

yeah, knees are difficult joints to replace, it takes long to heal. Hips are easier.

5:52 am

matty, I have one. The plural letter E.

5:52 am

plural letter S I mean

5:52 am

and you're in the grid today! :-)

5:52 am

5:52 am

5:53 am

5:54 am

5:55 am

5:55 am

6:13 am

6:15 am

ah, found one. Pi8/50. It is a superlative.

6:16 am

ty, sp6

6:16 am

yvw ;)

6:17 am

Actually, since it is your babble name, I feel it can be posted in the chog with impunity.

6:17 am

I agree

6:17 am

since, of course, every time you post, you are putting it out there:)

6:18 am

too true, lol

6:18 am

Found the 8, ty.

6:18 am

wtg sukee!

6:20 am

the other 8 is a verb, which means to combine with nitrogen. Az7/48 and 8/65.

6:22 am

Got them, with the help of wordfind :)

6:23 am

6:23 am

6:37 am

lol Une, me too. It sure looks like such a word.

6:38 am

We're well - and hugs to you too - though I'm not mentioning your name.

6:38 am

I also thought it was to do with hearing - never bothered checking.

I think PIZA should be a word for a PIZZA without enough CHEEZ

6:40 am

love it. Am adding it to our dictionary, jj

6:40 am

It's a good word - like your icon too JJ

:D

6:41 am

Not seeing anymore words this evening - tired :(

6:41 am

*kindly referring all babblers to my profile for the updated babble dictionary and babble idiom list*

6:42 am

it is not an easy grid at all, Liz

6:42 am

63 left here - will struggle on for a bit longer. How are you today?

Hate it when the internet goes down

6:44 am

Rose! Haven't seen you in ages.

6:44 am

Tim's birthday was awesome, Liz. He was over the moon, with everything, the presents, the people, the atmosphere, the attention.

6:44 am

6:45 am

6:45 am

Fantastic - so happy everything went well.

6:46 am

I hope all is well now.

6:46 am

6:46 am

Hi Sukee

6:48 am

6:49 am

sukee... i had drug-induced hepatitis

6:49 am

Aha a Babbler's name in the grid

6:53 am

I was hurting too much to make my breakfast. And poor husband is hurting too so am not gonna ask. Tim is away for the weekend, caya is off to work.

6:54 am

Hi bich

6:54 am

Hi, free clue

6:54 am

7:28 am

Or smell that smell of green and growing as you shuck jumbo sweet pea pods for a nice brunch

7:28 am

7:29 am

lol

7:30 am

mm, fresh cucumbers thinly sliced on bread with creamery butter and a dash of fresh ground pepper and sea salt

7:30 am

ok, Now i want grrns

7:30 am

greens'

7:30 am

aaarrrggghhh.....*fingers in ears...lalalalala*

7:32 am

When growing up, my beloved had a next door neighbour who used to grow a second garden just for the kids on the street. he would plant snap peas, and carrots and romaine lettuce and green beans. The kids were allowed to 'free-range" lol

7:32 am

what a lovely man!! i hope the kids appreciated it.

7:33 am

My wife says she spent many a sunny Sunday afternoon sitting cross-legged in the rows contentedly eating baby carrots and peas.

7:35 am

In exchange, they had to weed.

7:36 am

fair enough. and those little hands and fingers would be very good at weeding.

7:36 am

Was no panic though. If you saw a weed, just pull it and throw it on the pile at the end of the garden on your way out

7:37 am

so the kids took some ownership of the maintenance as well. good lesson.

7:37 am

I thought it was a great thing as well.

7:37 am

Not hard to plant a few rows when you have another full garden going anyways

7:39 am

crossy, love, i think i need to go. it is way past pillow time. but it lovely to see and chat with you. xoxox

7:39 am

It is what i am doing right now

Hiya!!

9:31 am

Nice...

9:31 am

where are you?

ET + part of the laughing doglike animal in Africa (**e*a) plus vowel? Crappy clue, sorry

9:32 am

That's a great clue...tyvm!

9:32 am

good morning all, and my dear CAR!!!

9:32 am

TRIF! It's been ages!

9:33 am

I have bed spins....

9:33 am

Hi trif

9:33 am

it was a good night

9:33 am

Uh oh....

9:33 am

whoppee

9:33 am

Bed spins?

9:33 am

frigging brits :)

9:33 am

Good morning, everyone! Hello to friends, old & new :)

9:34 am

brain damage, EVERY time...hahaha

9:34 am

Hello

9:34 am

are the inlaws here yet?

9:34 am

drinking with Brits is lethal

9:34 am

no, Wednesday.

9:35 am

after the brit party we did a pop in at the school retirement party. The dragon lady would not even speak to me. Barely looked at me. BITCH

Hey guys - in the room! (and only semi-brit, to be fair. But I do have a glass of wine)

9:35 am

Why did you go?

9:35 am

Matty, I have done drinking with Brits many times.

9:35 am

hey there matty. and thanks hego, believe I am up to speed on THAT one :)

9:36 am

That would be a great band name: Drinking With Brits.

9:36 am

felt I had to - I do still work there, and there were several people retiring, and Valentine got to go...

9:36 am

Real Brits, in England even.

Nah - just teasing about living in Britain and listening to you guys 'take the piss' (to use an Anglicism) of brits :) All in good fun :D

9:36 am

Oh dear...the Brit got himself right into the PB with that one.

This grid is killing me today. 37 left...

9:37 am

Semi-Brit...ha...It's lethal to drink with Brits because they drink the devil's drink...gin...

Yes, car, SHE did :) Pass me my pint, please :)

9:37 am

Whoops...sorry

9:37 am

Sorry

9:37 am

Is semi-brit like semi-sweet chocolate?

Semi-sweet is probably accurate to describe me ;)

9:38 am

I did not know that the devils's drink was gin

9:40 am

Stats for the O in the center column please?

9:40 am

count for the lone o please?

9:40 am

For the love of God...

9:40 am

Ot6

9:40 am

ot 6,18

9:40 am

NO WAY CAR!!!!

9:41 am

Wondering how the devil would keep the ice cold in his g & t

9:42 am

good question

Mother's ruin (gin)

9:43 am

What is up with that no ice in the UK thing?

9:43 am

ty..finally got it

9:44 am

clue pls

9:44 am

ot + vowel + sugar ending

9:45 am

Europeans in general do not like to drink really hot or cold things.

9:45 am

ty car.

9:45 am

definition: serving no practical purpose

9:45 am

Sounds like a morning cereal.

9:45 am

Isn't the ot6 in a lot of grids? Or am I imagining that?

9:45 am

Yes, I think so

9:46 am

As for ice in the UK, everyone I know who has been to London says they can't get ice there.

9:46 am

not uncommon

9:46 am

Laundry beckons...

9:47 am

And I don't know about very hot, the tea is always piping hot.

9:48 am

true

9:59 am

My mum when making tea for us when we were young would not only make it strong, but it was generally hot enough so you had to let it sit for 5 minutes:)

9:59 am

She always warmed the teapot with scalding hot water first before filling it:)

10:00 am

My mom called that "hotting the pot."

10:00 am

Hi Crossy

10:00 am

Howdy, Hego;)

10:00 am

Yup, no sense using the tea itself to heat the pot;)

10:01 am

:)

10:01 am

We had wild mint growing in the back yard. Homemade fresh mint iced tea - that means summer for our family!

10:01 am

I still like my tea strong enough so that I must wrestle it for the teaspoon;)

10:02 am

Beat it with the bacon, crossy!

10:02 am

lol&bacon tea

10:02 am

Russian assam tea replaces coffee for me.

10:02 am

googling Russian assam tea...

10:03 am

bbl

10:04 am

$12.95 + tax for 3.5 oz!! lol

hello babblers

10:04 am

See you later, hego!

10:05 am

TO!! Good morning!

10:05 am

http://tinyurl.com/ngnlwxb

10:05 am

tc, hego

10:05 am

Oh, but crossy, so good!

JB! good morning to you! it is already pretty hot today, hope we get rain.

10:06 am

I am intrigued:)

10:06 am

I first had it from a kitchen shop in Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market, from a jar labeled such. But it's available in other blends, too. Are you near a Wegman's?

10:06 am

pe

10:06 am

A balmy 10c here today:)

10:06 am

TO, yes, much hoped for rain. It keeps skirting the city, and we need it bad!

ah, the market. i may have time to visit next friday.

10:07 am

We do not have Wegmans. Will have to order it.

10:07 am

Good catch, hazz!

work is good?

10:08 am

It was at Fosters, which went out several years ago. I really liked that store, too!

10:08 am

Work is no more, been a lady of leisure for several months. Looking for new job, but no pressure. It's been a blessing! (note to self - update profile!)

jb, did you see the story about the art installation on eains oval? only there for the week.

10:09 am

I would love to get another job in Center City, great place to work.

10:09 am

Oh, yes, TO, I'm hoping to convince my husband to go tomorrow. It looks SO cool!

10:10 am

We have lost a lot of our "Home-brand " stores over the years, Woolworth's, Consumers Distributing, and when they obliterated all our Zellers stores to try target stores, it was another big mistake. Now taget has flopped here and they have closed all those as well.

oh, then perhaps you would join me at the noon friday concert? somehow i thought you had one at the new place out your way.

10:10 am

Towers has also been gone for many years now:(

10:10 am

So sorry, TO, my Friday is already booked :(

you are so lucky. it must be seen at night but i will not go sans company at night.

that is ok, there is a concert every friday.

10:12 am

I know what you mean, crossy, so much of what's out there is the same everywhere. You have to have to shop the internet for the different. It's been a great leveler of the local economies...oh, stopping my soapbox rant right now!

10:13 am

TO, I'll keep that in mind, thanks!

i believe i may still have an email address for you.

10:16 am

Good morning, all!

10:16 am

My go to email is now jbsanno at gmail.

10:16 am

Hi, judi!

hi judi

jb, there is local rockabilly early every Sunday as well now. free.

10:21 am

Been long and long since I have been to a good music festival:(

10:21 am

Where, TO? I've been very much a stay at home these past few months.

10:22 am

Hi kids.

glenside vfw.

10:22 am

Howdy, Scrabby

10:23 am

Hello, Scrabbler! Call go well this past weekend?

well, we need to get you out then! perhaps a free outdoor concert. or, this friday, a gallery crawl in new hope lambertville i am attending.

rockabilly sunday begins at 6pm

10:24 am

Only 10C today, scrabby, but we are off for a nice hike on the Bruce later today. Common up and join us:) Will make some Nice home-made vegetable stew in the crock-pot for afterwards;)

10:24 am

Yes, on call weekend last weekend was not too bad at all.

10:25 am

Sounds GREAT, Crossy! I must pick a weekend and come up there!

10:25 am

I already have three different trails lined up for when you do make it up here:)

10:26 am

My favorite is called "Julies Misery" by the local hikers;)

10:26 am

Googling, TO.

10:26 am

Haha. Tough grade?

10:26 am

40 degree incline at the half-way mark:)

10:27 am

needs both poles

the crawl is an event for a social group i belong to. begins with wine tasting.

10:27 am

Tiny steps. Use poles. Take breaks to let heart rate recover.

10:28 am

TO, let's talk by email :)

10:28 am

Yup, small rest poitn at 3/4 point of incline. We all huddle there and gasp for a few minutes

10:28 am

point

10:29 am

I get exercise-induced nausea if I push it too much. Once I even vomited while mountain-biking up a hill.

10:30 am

well worth it though. The canopy at that pout is well over 80 fet above our heads

10:30 am

:(

10:30 am

Hmm, a good reason to NOT exercise! lol

10:30 am

Without hiking, I can safely say i would already be using a cane full-time

10:31 am

et6/27...clue please

now that my burn is healing, i no longer have an excuse to avoid the gym

10:31 am

Sounds like a serious burn, TO!

well, i am overly cautious about open skin

10:32 am

I do exercise, just not outdoors stuff. Have to keep moving so my joints don't freeze.

10:32 am

Cooking burn, was it not, T.O?

yes

10:33 am

:(

10:33 am

How did you get burned, TO? Where and how bad?

10:33 am

Yikes!

arm above elbow, two 2nd degree spots, rest 1st degree. peeling now.

10:36 am

I'm trying, aebmusica, but my brain cannot make a clue of the et, so I'll try direction: go diagonal down right from the t.

10:37 am

Oh, sorry, it's the 4th column e!

10:37 am

Even a tiny 2nd degree hurts so bad the first day.

well, the bronchitis was hot on its heels for causing pain

10:38 am

TO, you must be a very committed cook! and OUCH!!!

no, very hurried and distracted , when around fire it is good to be in the moment.

10:39 am

*puts up disaster zone yellow tape around TO*

10:39 am

Maybe one of those HAZARD signs, too.

you got it. i got lost in germantown friday night and my cell quit. tons of fun.

10:40 am

thanks JBs!

10:40 am

Yowzer. Not a good place to get lost. I carry a backup battery for cell phone just in case.

10:40 am

yw, aeb!

either the phone or the sim is shot

10:41 am

Time for a new phone?

i was at the commodore barry and took a wrong turn. at midnight. it is like a maze there,

10:43 am

Could have been worse. Could have ended up in Camden.

10:44 am

What road were you trying to get on?

10:45 am

LOL, Judi, so true.

well, its a close call.

gtown ave, was going the right way then turned and went the wrong way. i did not realize it was a N-S road.

10:49 am

Whew, that is a mess! Glad you made it safe home, TO :)

10:51 am

Almost done, just noticed our local public transportation system's name is in the grid today, TO!

yes, and it is a word!

10:53 am

Off to nap. Was up far too early to go grocery shopping. Eyelids dragging downward.

10:53 am

Hey, TO =- don't leave home without your flare gun next time.

10:53 am

Sleep well, Judi, happy dreams of Babbling to you :)

10:54 am

And battery backup.

10:54 am

Have a good nap, Judi. Mrs. and I were up at 5 am yesterday, and ended up doing grocery shopping at 06:30 am!

10:54 am

And fire extinguisher.

10:54 am

And GPS.

10:54 am

This is why I don't go out...

10:55 am

I will grocery shop for my mother soon. It is cold and rainy today so I am shopping today instead of tomorrow afternoon.

10:56 am

lol JBsAnno, just tie a sting to your front doo, then fasten it around your waist before heading out

10:56 am

door

10:56 am

Haha.

later, judy

10:56 am

16 left. I have to go organize my pantry.

10:56 am

Myself, i just leave a trail of bacon bits...

10:56 am

148 left

later~!

10:57 am

Of course you do, crossy

10:57 am

That will need to be a VERY long string, crossy, I live on the 14th floor.

10:57 am

:)

10:57 am

mmm, bacon (turkey bacon) bits.

10:57 am

There ought to be a law against turkey bacon:)

10:58 am

Not if you don't eat pork! not Jewish, but have dietary restrictions.

10:58 am

:((

10:58 am

Just means more for you, crossy dear!

10:58 am

I agree. Turkey bacon is hideous. I'd rather not eat bacon that eat turkey bacon.

11:00 am

I once tried making a bacon-bacon burger; I ground up a pound of raw hickory-maple bacon, then added bits of onion, some fine-ground cheddar cracker crumbs, bit of egg and cooked up the patties. the I added strips of crispy bacon on top with a bacon ranch sauce. was nice, but not something I would do often:)

11:00 am

There are a couple of brands that work for me. It's better than no bacon at all. I was baconless for several years, and I'm glad I found an acceptable substitute, whew!

11:01 am

Crossy, you are a brave man.

11:01 am

I am glad you found a pleasing substitute

11:01 am

I go where others fear to tread:)

11:01 am

Haha

11:02 am

You should write a book - Climbing Mount Bacon.

11:02 am

and bacon-bacon burgers cook up really, really small:(

11:02 am

make them twice the size of tour desired finished burger

11:02 am

I figured the shrinkage on those would make them about the size of hushpuppies!

11:02 am

your

11:03 am

and not too thick or they do not cook well:/

11:04 am

I cannot climb mount bacon... arteries are too clogged;)

11:06 am

I am not going to leave the undertaker a pretty body. I am going to fall into that pine box all battered and bruised saying" What a wild ride!!"

11:06 am

Haha, crossy, and with that, I have to go. Sadly, the pantry does not organize itself. Good seeing you, TO! BBLater, all, happy Babbling!

11:06 am

Good for you.

11:07 am

I am signing away any and all parts for transplant or scientific studies, but I fear they may take one look, laugh, and send me on my way;)

11:08 am

I want to be cremated and scattered in my favorite places.

11:08 am

Though the liver is in good shape once more:)

11:09 am

Yes, once they have dug out all they want, i want the rest cremated

11:09 am

and the lungs are nice and clean again;)

11:10 am

Very good.

11:11 am

The innards are good, but the body is a little creaky:)

i wish i knew why i get an awful taste after eating. i just keep eating to try to alleviate it.

11:15 am

Some foods do that to me--onions, garlic, spice.

11:16 am

*spices

11:17 am

I once got a bit of food stuck in my throat. made things taste bad for a while and I could feel it. I ended up burping 3 days later and up it came:(

11:18 am

Was not a comfortable feeling

11:18 am

Yuck.

11:18 am

At least I did not have to have it scoped out:)

11:19 am

Like mum always said "chew your food!"

it is everything. very discouraging.

11:24 am

Reflux, Owl. It occurs with certain foods, if overeating, or if being too active after eating.

11:25 am

i take ranitidine (over the counter) for acid reflux...works pretty well....

wondering if left over from bronchitis. hoping so,

11:27 am

a persistent cough can also be related to acid reflux...

11:28 am

The acid blockers help because what gets refluxed up is at least not acidic.

does not seem to help.

11:30 am

Sinus infection with PND?

did not mention that. who know?allergy season. will try benadryl tonight and see if it clears

11:35 am

dear Temple.....I took Benedryl once because I thought I had an allergic reaction(sniffles & sneezing ) to something. However I had the beginning of a Sinus infection. The Benadryl did dry up the sniffles & sneezing,,,,but it also pushed everything back into the sinus cavity and head.I though I had a 500 lb head. It made my Sinus infection worse and it made me very dizzy. Try doing this at your own risk.

our doctors no longer give antibiotics for sinus infections. you have to ride it out. no exceptions.

11:38 am

Antihistamines have a drying effect. Nasal saline spray helps with irrigating mucous. And a nasal steroid spray is much more effective than antihistamines.

11:38 am

Most sinus infections are viral = common cold. If there is a runny nose and cough for more than 2 weeks then antibiotics can be considered.

the policy is, since the course is not altered by prescribing, they do no longer prescribe for sinus even if secondary infection sets in.

three weeks healing is the same.

11:44 am

I am happy to know that docs avoid inappropriate use of antibiotics. The world, mostly US docs, are behaving this way.

11:45 am

Back in Europe, I kept company with a lot of doctors, and found out the following fact: During WWII, all allergies stopped. Just stopped. Mind was busy with other things: bombs, bullets, etc. If you are wondering about surviving, you won't wonder about hayfever. (Yes, that one, too...) So, direct your mind away from allergies. Don't dwell on them.

great advice, all. time to do yard work.

11:46 am

Interesting.

11:46 am

Excellent point Erda. Thoughts become things.

12:04 pm

I passed halfway. All done. See you tomorrow.

12:26 pm

Molly you're not nancyboy any more

12:27 pm

No, I'm not

do7, please?

I have the first one I need the second one, please?

2:05 pm

The most polka fabric like

2:05 pm

clue for the first one?

2:05 pm

tx molly

thanks Molly got it

2:06 pm

found both!

2:07 pm

Une, those who receive charitable contributions.

2:07 pm

Alas. Une is too fast for me. It's like the Peri thing.

2:07 pm

interesting Erda together with the very healthy - limited-diet. But that doesn't explain why children are born with allergies. I know a little boy who is the most allergic child in the SE of England. Altho I do blame a lot of it on the excessive cleaning we do -. Like a handwash that you don't need to touch to make it give you soap -'in case the previous person had germs on their hands??? You are using soap to KILL germs for goodness sake.!!!

2:09 pm

Erda's comment was in regards to people who obsess about their health. Not about people with true health problems.

2:10 pm

I thought she was talking about positive thinking to help allergies

2:12 pm

We had practically starvation rations during the war but we were ate our healthiest

2:16 pm

Quoting Erda..."If you are wondering about surviving, you won't wonder about hayfever." It's about what your mind is focused on.

sp6 the first one,please?

2:20 pm

Actually, Deeha, soap dispensers have been some of the highest bacterial content surfaces tested in some hospitals, right up there with male doctors' neck ties.

2:20 pm

Most soap is not directly anti-bacterial, and those that are have their own related issues.

2:21 pm

sp+ second vowel + last three of what the sun does in the east in the morning

2:21 pm

Proper handwashing removes bacteria more by physical rubbing than any action of the soap - it's just there to break down the oils that help the bacteria stick.

thanks Molly great clue

2:22 pm

also, howdy everybody :)

2:24 pm

I think that is what Deeha was saying. A hand wash that you don't need to touch...etc...germs from the previous user.

2:25 pm

perhaps I mis read - I though she she was dismayed that this was a concern.

2:31 pm

Also, people who are obsessed with that "anti-bacterial" hand scrub amuse me.

2:32 pm

I don't think Erda was dismayed about anything. Her point was that if your mind is on other things, you are not focusing on health problems all the time.

2:51 pm

Maybe we should switch the conversation to shower curtains.

2:51 pm

LOLOLOL

2:56 pm

Well you know, it's so much more Hallmark and warm and fuzzy!!!!!

2:56 pm

hee hee

3:01 pm

Let us all join hands and sing Kumbaya

3:04 pm

Join hands? Not unless you wash them first! =)

3:08 pm

Ah yes Bea, so true. : D

3:20 pm

I wasn't replying to Erda, Molly, but to Deeha.

3:22 pm

her comment was "Like a handwash that you don't need to touch to make it give you soap -'in case the previous person had germs on their hands??? You are using soap to KILL germs for goodness sake.!!! "

3:37 pm

4:29 pm

Hey Hego, TO & all :-)

hello, soodle.

4:32 pm

Good news for once. My Dad, who broke his hip last week, underwent replacement surgery, and was very poorly indeed, appears to be much better. Praise be!

4:34 pm

glad he's feeling better, soodle

good news.

4:35 pm

Glad to hear about Soodle's Da!

4:36 pm

Thank you. He is 87 - the surgery was tricky. But he was roaring for whishey today. Always a good sign :-)

4:37 pm

WhisKey!

4:38 pm

A true Irishman! I love him!

4:39 pm

Had to part with my 86 yo Dad and am with you all the way Soodle!

4:39 pm

:-)

4:41 pm

It was a very difficult week, Hego. I'm sorry about your Dad. I've been very lucky - in my mid fifties & still have both my parents.

4:42 pm

They drive you nuts, but you still love them to pieces.

4:43 pm

Lol!! Couldn't have said it better myself, Hego! Lol

4:43 pm

Love ya Soodle. Hang in there.

4:44 pm

((((Hego)))))

4:44 pm

(((back at you)))

4:45 pm

First of June tomorrow & I have the heating on, & the fire lit & I'm still frozen with the cold. Very disappointing weather so far this Summer.

4:46 pm

Wow soods. Ireland's cold. We turned off our heat ages ago

4:47 pm

God bless the British Isles!

4:47 pm

Maybe in July it will be warm.

4:47 pm

At the end. Maybe.

4:48 pm

Yep! It's killing me to be burning fuel this day of the year. At least I got a blast of sun in Spain in April, so I'm not too hard done by. :-)

4:49 pm

We've been in Germany in June and it can be cold

4:50 pm

IN the Isles you take it one day at a time. The seasons, that is.

4:51 pm

I have been in Scotland and seen a whole year of weathe in one day.

4:51 pm

hello everone

4:51 pm

My youngest is off on her road trip in 3 weeks.... Starting off in Cologne & trailing round after Taylor Swift through about 6 cities. She is perplexed as to what sort of clothing to bring.

4:52 pm

Taylor Swift!!!!

4:52 pm

European kids have it made.

4:52 pm

We got 8 days sunshine back in April so I guess that is it for this year. Night temperatures down to 6/7C this week. Snow in Scotland too.

4:52 pm

I would give a limb to be young in Europe today!

4:53 pm

Hiya Jaxx!

4:53 pm

Oh Hego - this is her Grand Tour! (Suzie's - not Taylors. ) It's been planned since last October.

4:53 pm

Hi, hego. How are you?

4:54 pm

Hey Jaxx - we had frost last night!

hello, nan. hello, jax.

4:54 pm

I wouldn't brag.

4:55 pm

Hi Nan :-)

4:55 pm

Doing good Jaxx!

4:55 pm

Tell your daughter to remember her cardies as she can always pop one on if it is chilly. I have been watching the French Open this week and the commentators have been remarking on the cold there

4:56 pm

Hi, all.

4:56 pm

Off for a Mediterranean cruise next week.

4:56 pm

Cannot wait!

4:57 pm

She is travelling with Ryanair all the way. Cheap - not so cheerful. Very limited baggage allowances.

4:57 pm

Oh, lucky you. Is there room in your suitcase for a less than little one? I am going to a funeral on Wesnesday and another friend died last Thursday so there will be another one soon.

4:58 pm

Hego - you lucky duck! Whats your itierary?

4:58 pm

makes me feel more mortal than usual.

4:58 pm

Oh my!!

sorry, jaxx.

4:59 pm

Sorry to hear that, Jaxx. :-(

4:59 pm

Cheer us up Hego - tell us about your cruise....

Sorrento. Sicily,

5:02 pm

I shall miss the lass who is to be buried on Wednesday. We had been friends for 60 years. The one that died most recently was my mother's 'toy boy' of 85. My mum was 15 years older than him and he hated the term. He was a real sweetie. My kids regarded him as their proxy grandad.

5:03 pm

Corfu. Bari, Zykanthos,

5:05 pm

Jaxx, my hubbie is 12 years younger than I so I totally relate.

5:05 pm

Hego - for about 10 years, we went to Corfu every single year. It's the closest place to Heaven you will find on Earth. The people, the food, the atmosphere.... Delightful. I envy you with all my heart

5:05 pm

ty Nan

5:06 pm

No et8...there is an et6 though...et + sometimes vowel + first two of bird home

5:06 pm

Wish I could take all of you with me. It would be my joy.

5:06 pm

He did ask mum to marry him but mum said she'd already lost two husbands, which was extremely careless of her, and she wanted her own front door.

5:07 pm

Great experiences are so much better if you can share.

5:07 pm

Jaxx, I totally get your mom.

5:07 pm

We used to drive from Ireland to Venice - took about 5 days - then took a Minoan Lines ferry from Venice to Corfu. Happy happy times. I have nothing but the fondest memories of those trips.

5:08 pm

Tie an inflatable on the back of the cruise ship and we will all sneak in. Easy!

5:08 pm

Sorry, et6 has a consonant between the et and the sometimes vowel. Starts like your country of origin persuasion

5:08 pm

Losing your soul mate is incredibly traumatic.

5:08 pm

Jaxx, wish I could.

5:09 pm

God! i envy Europeans!

5:09 pm

My father was a very difficult man but my stepfather was a real sweetie and in his will he thanked us all for making his marriage to my mother so happy.

5:09 pm

Aw, bless your Mam, Jaxx

9:04 pm

hi folks

9:06 pm

bye folks

9:07 pm

Hi all. Just trying to get a few words on this grid. The weekend has been beautiful and we enjoyed newly picked local strawberries.

9:29 pm

hi all. i can use clues for the 8s please. dont have either one.

9:30 pm

the pi 8, 50 is the suffix meaning the most possible. Uses the pi 4, 6 as its root word.

9:31 pm

pi for possible?

9:32 pm

ty but i dont have the pi's. i have three pi 4s, none close to that in meaning.

9:32 pm

pi for type of jungle helmet.

9:32 pm

ok got the pi. i guess i did have the four.

9:33 pm

I don't have the other 8 word, sorry mkg.

9:33 pm

dont have the six. hmmm. ty stid.

9:34 pm

I'm kind of hit or miss on this grid. Just trying to finish the 4 letter words and finding my brain power not rising to the occasion.

9:34 pm

got it stid. i try to get half way. thats all.

9:35 pm

i just got over that half way point.

9:35 pm

I'm needing 2 more words for completing the 4 letters.

9:36 pm

go stid!

9:37 pm

nbt nbs

9:38 pm

Got the last 4 letter word. nbt, nbs.

9:44 pm

go Mother go!!!!

9:44 pm

hey all

9:45 pm

hello stid ladies

9:46 pm

I saw Jilli this weekend. She is as beautiful as ever

9:47 pm

hey bugs! :-D

9:47 pm

Mid-July good for you? The week after the 4th or the week after?

9:48 pm

you must be very close to finishing now stid. Will you be at the same school in the same grade?

9:48 pm

I need some time to get things cleaned and cleared... LOL or you can show up in the evening of June 12 and help me unpack the car from school! LOL

9:48 pm

And yes! Same everything next year, only better knowledge of the grade/content and kids! :-D

9:49 pm

Glad you saw Jill -- looks like she has been doing a lot of work on her house lately.

9:49 pm

and all that worrying about not being good with elementary kids!

9:52 pm

I just made a note on my calendar for those 2 weeks. We will have to discuss specifics by email. I am looking forward to the summer and taking a break from the routine of the school year.

9:53 pm

I will send you a picture Jill, me and Saanichcat.

9:54 pm

yes, me too! Mostly just glad I can relax with no worries about the new year. I have a lot to do over the summer, but this will be purposeful for a change, and I will be able to focus on one thing at a time instead of all content areas all the time.

9:55 pm

Oh, you saw her too! How is she? I haven't heard from her in ages since we are rarely in babble at the same time.

9:58 pm

*peeking in for a moment* hiya sisters!

9:59 pm

Turns out she and I worked at the same bookstore back in the early 70s and we had the best time getting to know each other again. At that time our lives were on completely different tracks but now we feel like old friends. It was so much fun to meet her.

10:00 pm

Pini! so good you popped in.

10:01 pm

I see you are a grandmother again. Congratulations.

10:01 pm

Thanks...he's a keeper!

10:01 pm

What is his name?

10:02 pm

Always nice to see my bunk-buddies! :)

10:02 pm

"Lincoln James"

10:02 pm

Very classy!

10:03 pm

There are not too many famous Bubbas in the world

10:03 pm

His parents think they'll call him "L J" for short...

10:04 pm

...his middle name is for my dad -- known as "Jim" -- who insists that, although he thinks they should reverse the names, he should be called "Li'l Jim"! LOL

10:05 pm

Someone else suggested they nickname him "Abe" -- that didn't go over well.

10:05 pm

It will be interesting to see if it sticks. I thought my parents should have called my little sister Jim but they didn't go for it. My brother called his boy Jim and he was always the only one his age.

10:06 pm

I can see how Abe wouldn't go over well. Maybe that is why they are considering LJ

10:07 pm

I remember my dad's older sisters calling him "Jimmy Boy" ... he only cringed when it was used by non-siblings

10:08 pm

Oh, and "Linc" is out of the question!

10:08 pm

There are far too many young James', but Jim has class too. Still, Lincoln is a very classy name

10:09 pm

I thnk it's rather classy and not so far out there that it'll work.

10:11 pm

I agree. Nice choice of name. Not common but not odd.

10:11 pm

So, other than that, how are y'all doin'!?

10:15 pm

I am well. Met with Jillibus, Flosey, Saanichcat and ruru this weekend. Haven't laughed like that in a long time

10:15 pm

Mr Bugs was my only bunkmate though.

10:16 pm

OMG...I can only imagine what a fine time was had with such a group! (Glad to hear Mr Bugs joined in, too!)

10:16 pm

He said I snored horribly!

10:16 pm

Glad you weren't there to be bothered

10:16 pm

oh no!!!

10:17 pm

Oh, I'm sure he was just messin' with you...I don't recall such a noise!

10:17 pm

...glad i missed the snoring too...

10:18 pm

oh, hiya ru!

10:18 pm

(on that note...I'll be right bad - have to wash the dye out) brb

10:18 pm

Hi pini.

10:18 pm

hi ruru. When Pini and I were bunkmate years ago there were 4 of us in one room. Lots of noises going on.

10:18 pm

It was a lot of fun. Great people

10:19 pm

get you get my email?

10:19 pm

Not yet

10:19 pm

ok. I sent the pics

10:19 pm

Nope. Nothing there?

10:20 pm

Ugh hopefully none of me

10:20 pm

searching...............

10:23 pm

...and back

10:23 pm

(timing is everything when the timer goes off)

10:23 pm

sorry, wandered off...

10:24 pm

hiya li'l sis

10:25 pm

you saw ruru too??? and flosey?? HEY GRANDMA CAMO-PINI!!!!!!!!

10:25 pm

* giggle *

10:26 pm

Yeah, stid, I'm rather jealous of the get-together, too! :)

10:27 pm

Not meaning to cause any jealousy. It could not get any bigger because it was at Jilli's house and we were afraid of overwhelming her. Plus you guys are at school

10:27 pm

we are watching an old Dr Who... it has been a strange weekend, not what I planned at all, but not bad. Now a week of intense work and push-push-push and then a week of filling out memory books and sharing a few final thoughts and they are off to the next grade. Not me though, I didn't get promoted, so I have to repeat the whole thing again next year.

10:28 pm

;ucky you stid. The more you teach the same grade, the more resources you will accumulate.

10:28 pm

I'd say you're on your way, stid! And I'm not so sure being promoted is all it's put out to be! LOL

10:29 pm

I took pictures on my iPad and tried to send them directly. Now I have tried to send them to my computer and we will see if that works better.

10:30 pm

Oh, and I bought a (very basic beginner) drum set yesterday so I have a pedal bass drum for the concert on Wednesday... keep me in your thoughts that I don't "solo" where I am not supposed to!

10:30 pm

No worries, stid, you're gonna ROCK it!!! :)

10:30 pm

if possible, please share pix with us ALL! :-)

10:31 pm

Maybe... I know all the pieces pretty well except one, and that one if I have to will just pull back on the snare drum syncopation. ;-)

10:31 pm

bon soir, chere une!

10:32 pm

bugs, you can probably "message" me ipad to ipad if you like?

10:32 pm

<-- has an ipad, too! :)

10:32 pm

Except for the onesI took of ruru and Saanichcat who prefer to remain mysterious, I will do my best Une.

10:32 pm

(not sure if that was a subtle hint or not) :-)

10:33 pm

brb

10:34 pm

tx bugs and howdy stiddy :-)

10:34 pm

and yes, if necessary, you can cut out Ruru, International Man of Mystery

10:34 pm

I am trying ladies. They won't even come to the computer 6 inches away right now.

10:35 pm

..mysterious...

10:36 pm

:-D

10:36 pm

International?

10:36 pm

I go see my computre whiz student tomorrow so maybe he can help me figure out what I am not doing this time that I always did before .

10:36 pm

quoting Austin Powers :-)

10:37 pm

ooh. I met an international man of mystery this weekend and totally missed the whole significance!

10:37 pm

well I just drowned a woodtick. That makes four woodticks and a rainbow for today.

10:38 pm

that's "mysterious" is, Bugs!

10:40 pm

Mr bugs is more mysterious than i am :D

10:41 pm

He is just quiet. He had a much better time than he thought he would.

10:41 pm

Shyness can be quite a handicap

10:42 pm

Great. He seemed really happy last night

10:46 pm

it's always good to hear when quiet people end up having a good time!

10:46 pm

Yeah i am shy too

10:46 pm

* blink * huh?

10:52 pm

ok ok ok ... I take it back; I believe you! :)

10:53 pm

back

10:54 pm

ok stidmama, I just messaged you a picture of 3 of us. Did you get it? if so, please don't publish it because it has Saanichcat in it.

10:55 pm

That is a great picture of Flosey!!! Love the smile on Saanich's face. She is such a beautiful person.

10:55 pm
