WTG DIZGRANNIE!!!
Hi and hugs, Rose
Someone help with hy8 please
{{hugs}} lizgirl. how's the weather up there?
Bl***y cold - though a bit warmer than it was.
Actually not bad in the sun - but there's not been too much of that today.
How about down there?
means shallow breathing. hy4 + two consonants + two vowels
b****y cold too. with no let up.
It was down to 5 C for 3 nights - which is really cold for here.
hi Rose
the sun comes out but there is no heat to it.
hi ya flosey
Oh well - that's a difference - in the sun it was in the low 20s but our house is cold - the trees block the sun.
Also loads of clouds today.
how you doing with that clue, ruru? i have thought of another way to clue it.
Not getting that hy 8 even from your clue.
Is the hy 4 the one that's short for an injection or with a different vowel?
okay. hy + sound bubblegum makes when it bursts + most of close by
That's great - thanks - I was using the wrong 2nd consonant.
it's what i do when i sleep.
How have you been Rose - haven't seen too much of you recently?
un7 is a strange, rather dreary word
still resting quietly. get next lot of blood test results next wednesday. * fingers crossed*
It describes the way I felt when I entered that word :)
Hope that they come out well for you.
Are you feeling better though?
lol, but we enter them anyway and ****
thanx liz. and my next infusion therapy is tomorrow week.
True. And if anyone uses the pb any more, that's where I should be!
That should make you feel much better.
yes, liz. feeling better from the hepatitis. but the FM has gone berserk.
seldom hear of the pb anymore
So which drug (well, what was it for) was your reaction against.
FM?
In that case you must be hanging out for the infusion.
fibromyalgia, flosey
ah, tks
A hint for either de 7 pls - not seeing them.
gosh Rose, seems you have almost everything in the book! How do you manage! Amazing
my shoulders, shins and calves are so sore and sensitive. i cringe every night when don has to take off my compression sock.
Ouch - poor Rose
ah Rose, so sorry
*giggles* flosey. up until recently i just ignored it and got on with life. but my past is catching up with me.
I can't imagine!!
flosey, when i see the condition of some people, living in wheelchairs, entirely dependent on others for everything, i give thanx to God and realise i am not that badly off.
Huh! Enable doesn't know about epipens!
Enable does not know many words.
lollll... yeah i know. i tried it first up. most disappointing.
OTOH, it knows lots of other ones. i mean sysop, for real?
And the number of foreign languages it knows ...
Hi grannyrose, when the word "fibro.." went by my antenne went up. I was diagnosed with that a few years back and it was horrid. Looking up the stairs at our house, knowing I had to walk up used to bring me to tears!
Until ARB mentioned it, I'd never have tried that ul 5/14
some of those foreign words like arroyo, are valid at least in American English.
of course, seain. that's the sound you make sipping soup, isn't it?
ah yes, Rose, absolutely
it's a dry stream that only has water when it rains, from Spanish for the same.
Never heard of arroyo - what does it mean?
that was a late response to 1:19 comment!!
Thanks - beat me to it.
maramar, i'm sorry to hear that you have fibromyalgia, that's rough.
LOL lizlin :)
But I got a lot of permenent relief by adjusting my diet and increasing my daily movement. I know every body is different but I am completely better. No therapy and no drugs!!
poor marmar. it is such an insidious disorder. because there is no outward sign, people don't think you are hurting that much.
:)
Hi DC!!!
i'm very, very glad to hear that, marmar :) and hello, to you, long time.
up6 is a bit of a stretch, isn't it?
also lizlin, hello, been a while.
Hi to you too and Marmar
Hi everyone!
that is a bit odd, indeed, flosey
where you been hiding, seain?
Just found that up 6 - definitely odd.
i've been listening to Dvorak's Symphony 9 (New World)
Got to go - 12 left to finish later. Bye all and hugs, Rose
marmar, you are fortunate that that regime helped you.
{{hugs}} liz. enjoy your evening. xox to peter.
also Mendelssohn's The Hebrides.
I know, I have friends that are a lifetime of meds, I hate that!
nice, seain.
be well, liz.
ah, greek temples today, i see.
gave up and used MW for se7, another strange one
FW, whew, some pretty strange words tonight
and goodnight all
WTG FLOSEY!!!! sweet dreams dear
162 or 163 today please?
162
TY Diane the ul6 isn't a word
My list took it.
Sorry - my list took the ul5
While you're on questionable words, I have a quibble with Enable, which said: "melena" was not found in the dictionary, Enable is the only dictionary the word is NOT found in; it is not new, not uncommon, and is in fact the word we use to define the discharge of black, tarry, bloody stools, usually resulting from a hemorrhage in the alimentary tract. Unpleasant, perhaps, but legit. I can't find who or what is responsible for Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon. Anyone know?
that is strange jwr. i have just tried several different spellings of the word, and enable does not recognise the word in any shape or form
exactly
yet, it takes estop and estoppel, relatively uncommon legal terms.
I am more curious, though, as to the origins of Enable and who is behind it. It seems like it was put Out There and left because it doesn't appear to have been updated at any point. Curiosity Gone Wild, that's me.
also, Babble does not use the latest ENABLE.
okay, jwr. you need to contact the national puzzler's league
dc, IS there a "latest" Enable?
rose, is there a national puzzler's league. I have two legs -- could each of you be pulling one?
just google it, jwr
*giggles* how about the leg in the middle?
(I was going to say that I didn't believe in Google -- but I almost got run over by one of their ginormous buses today.
you giggles, I googles
now who's pulling whose leg?? google have a bus??
Google, m'dear, was until very recently, a major menace in our fair city. It got pretty hot, too: http://www.cnbc.com/id/101258693
They have a fleet of huge luxury buses that pick up and deposit their employees in every corner of the city, wherever and whenever they find it convenient. Citizens rebelled - especially ones who where elderly, frail, disabled or just plain impatient becuase the regular city buses couldn't get to the curb to pick up passengers.
*were*
Found the NPL, thanks Rose. I'll send them my Enable enigmas tomorrow. A bit more babbling and I am off to work.
wow!! i didn't know that there were such issues around google. no wonder you are so anti them. it seems to me the company has a lot of cheek disrupting a public service like that.
Now for the OTHER side of the story. Things have quieted down considerably. all of a sudden we have free transit for all seniors (over 65) and disabled ... with income below $100,000 a year! Think about it. It may not last but a few years but the word is that Google is subsidizing it.
Ooops! I'm about to run late to catch the bus to work (not there, no!) Running faster puff puff gotta goooooooooo poof
lollll jwr. you gooooo
Clues are up
hey ya lickety. do you mean the amended list is up?
dinner ready. bbl. xoxox
good morning all
Quick hi and hugs from me but we're about to Skype, so I'm not staying
Good morning, my friends. read that bit on the Google employee buses using public transit stops in San Fran. My view is the solution would be for them to just pay the city to set up Google Inc. bust stops just up a bit from the public ones. The other side of the coin is that S.F is fortunate to have companies that size and the jobs it creates> Remember, all those tech companies using those stops could move elsewhere and i think that many cities that have been losing big business for decades would welcome the inconvenience of them using the public stops now and then.
hi Liz! *hugs* and have a nice chat.
((sprite))
I'm sure we will.
((liz))
((rose))
Hi Crossy
hi crossy :) *hugs*
Our little community has been losing the big businesses for 20 years now. One big glass company moved everything down to mexico after the unions just got too greedy. Now we live and die on the tourist dollar:(
aw crossy, that is tough
I bet if you dig a bit, SF, is paying google the cost of the free bus rides that the people there now enjoy. I do not think they would care to lose google over trifles.
sounds like you are right
Here, everyone over 65 gets the bus free as a matter of course.
{{hugs}} friends. good morning sprite. g'day crossy. wb lizgirl
that is interesting. Here, I think you get a discount over a certain age
hi rose *hugs* my dear friend. How was your dinner?
over 65, it is
very nice. a beef casserole.
sounds lovely
mmmm...beef
how are you this morning dear?
foggy, lol. Caya went to a party in amsterdam last night, with a couple of her friends. I picked them up at 1.30 am and then drove them all to their respective homes, all over the region here. Was back home at 2.45, so I slept in.
nice you could do that. do you feel like you have had enough sleep?
dumb question 995. foggy, rose, foggy. duh!!
I should have, but I don't, lol. Could go back to bed and sleep some more. But not gonna. Early to bed tonight is better.
*giggles*
I'd do a whole lot more just to know those girls are safe. No problem for me to drive around, as long as I know they don't have to go through a bad part of amsterdam, to a huge trainstation, then to several buses or even the bicycle. Nah. Much better to drive them home.
i know exactly how you feel. one would hope the girls' parents would do the same for Caya.
don't think so. They don't even do it for their own daughters. Plenty of money, not so much care. Caya said on the last stretch home, when we were together, that one of the girls has over 25k in savings, done by her parents. But no drive home. And she also said she was happy she didn't feel too good to work for her money in a supermarket. That girl does feel too good for that and at some point in life that is gonna give problems.
good grief!! that poor kid is in for a shock.
is that even good english? To feel too good for something? Or should I say feels it is beneath her?
Hi guys. May I please have stats for the Y and for the E at the top and the bottom of the second column?
yeah she sure is. I am glad Caya feels this way, though. Since we don't have much savings at all, leave alone for the children, it would be easy to feel like we lack as parents.
hiya matty! How are you today?
yu4/7
en6/21
I'm OK - going to ride into Twickenham on the pushbike and get it serviced (I bought it six weeks ago and they do a free first service)
and g'day matty
How could I have missed that Y?!
ah nice, matty. Always nice, a free servic e.
maybe you don't like Xmas either? Like me? :)
Yarp! That must be it ;)
I think, once the kids will have left the house, my love and I will only celebrate Midwinter.
May I also have a clue for the EN6, please?
en6. en + not cheap
Of course - thanks!
en6: make yourself liked
too little too late, lol. Slowwwwpoke!
lollllll. what do expect from someone who is foggy? poor sprite!
too true, dat. Am stalling at only 90 in, grin.
now that wasn't supposed to be a stopper. Where did you all go?
I've got 110 words (haven't listed yet) - would be NBT but am missing the Es in the bottom row, second column, and I don't have the 8
sorry sweetie. i am here. went into a daze.

hy8/65
i haven't had a nana nap today. with the disturbed nights again, feeling a little flat.
new one for me, that hy
sprite, that is what i do when i sleep.
aw yes, rose, I know exactly what you mean. Too many disturbed nights leave you feeling like that... as if the world is at a distance and you can't really bother.
scary, rose. I know the ap variant, but not the hy.
i actually do both. but the ap is not as severe as the hy. that is why i need the CPAP machine.
and thanks for the ep's too
can you travel with it, rose? Or do we have to try and hire one here?
i can travel with it. i also have a plug adaptor. american, european and australian.
awesome. Has machine, can travel.
it is considered medical equipment so i can take it on the plane and it isn't counted as luggage.
ah good. Another thing that won't be a problem then. Now we need you to get your health back.
sprite, have you ever seen esio trot? the film of dahl's book with dustin hoffman and judy dench.
no, never. Don't even think I have heard of it. Esio Trot?
reading back. A year or 3 ago, i was diagnosed with sleep apnea, and have the machine tucked away in the bedroom. However, I lost 50 pounds and mostly gave up all alcohol, and knock on wood, the apnea gone away for now. I hate that bloody cpap machine!
sounds good, rose, just looked it up.
very good, crossy. I have minor apnea and I know that once I have lots a lot of weight, it will be gone. And it is gonna happen.
oh, crossy. well done you. but even i was at my ideal weight i still did it. turns out i have central OSA. in other words the ap and hy stem from my brain. i have been known to stop breathing even when i am awake.
very unpleasant :(
pe 6/24; pe 7/40 clues please
gran, persons.
Not sure I'm going to find the hy or the ep on my own (and we're going out soon...

hi and bye trif
good luck nan! nothing like a new frock to cheer a house up
mr hate is exacting his pound of flesh for the relatives coming to stay with me. I am SO DONE with his shenanigans
pound of flesh?
the price I must pay for anything good that happens
oh
he could have about 10 lbs of my flesh
stupid people are EXHAUSTING. every knows what he is doing, and yet he keeps on, like we are too stupid to figure out we are all just tolerating him.
in this particular case I come out smelling like a rose and looking like a total class act, so that's a plus.
His relatives or yours?
his relatives (HIS TWIN, in fact) are in town, and asked to stay here with me. THEIR choice. His cousin is here on business, and asked to have lunch with me today. Mr. Hate got wind of this and totally made it impossible for the cousin to meet me today.
Wow, his twin would rather be with you than him. That says a lot.
His cousin just lost his dad about three weeks ago. The poor man is REELING. The absolute last thing he needed was to be put in the middle by some ridiculous queen having a tantrum. That poor guy - I feel awful.
mr hate cannot stand it that his family wants to keep in relationship with me. He went to so far as to call them up and demand that their children never address me as "auntie" again. No one took that particularly well.
maybe he should just piss all over his relatives and mark his territory?
anyway.....moving on
hahaha ruru
its a beautiful, sunny day, the sky is blue, and karma is REAL.
there is much to celebrate.
yeah.. let him be miserable.. you change your space
is the bottom row e a weird one?
I guess his family has not accepted his new lifestyle.
Tee hee...Angela strikes again!
Its not his lifestyle they don't like...its his asshole-ish personality
EP 6 and 7
Yes, they are strange words
thanks car. Im actually mighty pissed over this one
You can be, but you have to let it go. His cousin should have stood up to him.
Im not mad at simon. He was in an impossible situation - no car, stuck at angelas, not wanting to be involved....its 100% not his fault
I'm sorry...but, again...
I know, I know.....Im just so DONE with his horseshit
sorry chog
What did you do with that horrid creature from under the pool?
let him go back to his life. not his fault we put a pool there
Oh god....
he will be moving on, now that his house is disrupted.
How were you able to stand there and take a photo? I would have needed medical attention.
I just threw up a little bit again thinking of it
we watched him for ten or 15 minutes. very cool guy. I don't have the same snake issue as you.
YOU can enjoy "you know whats" and I run on water and scream like a girl if I see one. shrug.
Gary is here
I cannot for the life of me find that e word. what does it mean? is it a word I know?
giving a pond update?
E + Holy Father + extra vowel
Fixing the hellish stoop out front which I am truly grateful for
I wouldn't say that I "enjoy" you know whats.
I am so not catholic. took me a good 10 seconds to figure out you didn't mean "god"

Hi all - English hint for se7 please
Got it!
Sorry. I didn't know that people in England were unaware that the US has congressmen and senators.
molly, where's your icon??
We do! It was the ending I struggled with!!!!
clue for un7 please?
Think of the Sandra Bullock move that ends in "floats". Make it past tense and stick UN in front of it.
thanks!!
actually we have representatives and senators - both are congresspersons.
you know, just to be nitpicky...
:-D
FW!! back at the flip :-)
Each state elects two senators. Each congressional district elects a representative. In common usage, congressman usually refers to a representative. If you want to get nitpicky, yes, both are congress persons. But they are rarely referred to that way.
What are the stats for the top E please?

your email, I mean. wow, not a good slip
just read it.. very funny.. I'm going to use that one
It is one of the few jokes I can ever remember.
I can send you some.. I should have told a few at dinner.. but I didn't want Jilli to groan.. she was having so much fun being the hostess with the mostess
yes, I wish you and I had had more time to chat together but you are coming back so I am hopeful.
next time i'm heading up to Campbell RIver area and swinging by Long Beach on my way up
just need to check out the Hotels up that way.. and I want to go whale watching and Bird watching.
I believe the Wickanninish Inn in Tofino is owned by Lorne Priestly and his father now. It is reported to be very nice because they had the money to make something beautiful even better.
well.. that I will check out.. Tofino is beautiful too
Long Beach blew me away last time I was there.. many years ago.
One of my favourite places is Long Beach. Can hardly afford to go now but in my youth it had not been discovered yet so it was often covered in drunken university students watching the beach eat their cars because you used to be able to drive on the sand. When the tide comes is, it undermines the hard pan and cars begins to sink long before the drunks notice.
A friend of mine had it happen and we couldn't even get his little 2 seater sports car out. The insurance lady had no trouble with the reason it was missing.
it was not built up when I went there in the 90's
oops.. maybe even the 1980's
It is still a park but muck busier now. Never can lose that beauty though.
off to work again
bye

Hello stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid.
My last day of school is June 26th & that is without adding any extra day for snow days.So jealous of your 1 week left
Minveryork, the clue is for a 9 letter word?
Well, we started early and don't have a lot of time off mid-year (two weeks in dec, one for spring and a long weekend near president's day)
The un 7/44 is un plus ho5/16 word Marc.Sorry about that
Getting a little bit punchy as it is late and I must go to bed
We made up our snow days by losing Spring break days stid
thanks got it
That was my last clue for the evening. Now I must goto bed
LOL I should turn in too, but it was very warm today and not quite ready for bed (my hair needs to finish drying as I washed it after being in the dusty garden this evening)
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! leaving with 9 words left
sweet dreams dear min
hey stiddy. report cards finished?
swet dreams min
for now, gr. Printed a copy of the comments I was working on and will read them tomorrow evening. The narrative part is the hard bit for me. I want to be honest, but fair -- next year's teacher should know what the kiddo is able to do, but the child needs to know how they grew... and some children grow a tremendous amount but are still well below grade level while others don't actually grow much but are well above grade level. Tricky balancing act.
when i had to write reports for the student nurses i found it very difficult to vary my comments. a failing of mine i guess.
it is difficult
Howdy stid!
JADE!!!!! *faint*
lol!! Been lurking for days..
hmph lurkerier...
:-)
hee hee..... as an aside, Munchkin graduated Thursday, my darling daughter is now officially, a grown up.
woo-hoo! well done, momma-jade!
She's spending the month in CO, with her dad's side of the family before she starts.....*cue foreboding music*....college.
good for her -- big steps!
With big dreams of becoming a video game designer.
I hope it works out for her.
Heh...same here.
well, I have to get to sleep. Early wake-up tomorrow so I can get the room ready for the kiddos. Not sure what the entry task will be... :-)
sweet dreams stiddy. xoxox
Have a lovely week, all! *poof*
Night stid!
