Hi all and WTG rbud :)
hi, rose, hi Liz
Hi and hugs, Rose
{{hugs}} and hi lizgirl
How are you today?
okay. have caught up with all the clean washing. just some folding to do.
Let Don do the folding ;)
monday's infusion has been cancelled. ketamine causes liver problems, so doc decided to wait another week.
Is that what was the cause of all the problems you've had?
But that must be pretty disappointing for you.
ummmmm.... you have seen his idea of folding a sheet. you need a cupboard just for them. he rolls them up into balls and stuffs them on the shelf.
no, liz. the tegretol was the problem.... they think.
Hmm! Not such a bright idea.
Which was for what?
call me anal if you want but i do like neat and tidy sheets in the cupboard... lolll
In that case, call me anal too :)
the tegretol was for the nerve pain, not the FM.
Is there a substitute?
there are plenty of other meds. just have to find one that doesn't upset the status quo in my liver.
Can that only be done by trial and error?
well we do know for certain which ones can effect the liver. my doc will just steer clear of them.
I thought that they'd have some idea of side effects - just have to find what's best for you.
plus my chemist has red flagged my site on her computer. any drugs which potentially cause liver probs will be highlighted.
That's really good - double check
btw, thanx for the great email. the pool area looks terrific. what a great job you and peter are doing.
It's coming along - hubby doing most of it. Rain today so not much done - rain most of the week in fact :(
what a bummer!!
Unusual for this time of year.
clotter - someone who makes clotted cream
that's what i thought too

glad the movie night went well. Did they like the movie? It is a rather good one. Very clever in translating book things to visual ones.
clue for te9? plz
how was your night?? and have you heard anything from ruby?
hi Ishult!
oh,...and a good morning to all
My last contact with ruby was the day before yesterday.
te9, te + large rodent + vowel + *** Y, our children
g'day ishult
got it, ty
yay ishult
my husband and dog just left for a weekend of camping out and canoeing. And tim will leave this afternoon for 2 weeks vacation in spain. Lazy weekend ahead for caya and me :)
oh how lovely, sprite. is caya planning on some time with her friends too?
I don't think so, she has another week of tests coming up, lots of learning to do. But she is gonna go to horseriding lesson, will be gone most of today.
sorry, honey. had to go get some ibuprofen, hips aching.
it is a rotten situation, rose. Am ever so sorry the infusion had to postponed.
so am i !
lol I believe you :D
*sending soothing vibes to your hips*
thanx darling
this grid sucks. Lost my speed at 45 in, now at 71 and struggling.
you must be tired, sweetie. although there are some iccky ones in there.
not a tough grid? Jeezz louise. *tries to shake brain awake*
* hands sprite a cuppa of her favourite poison *
lol thanks! Wiener melange... at long last... god I missed that.
you poor thing..... there is nothing so hard as to stop having something you enjoy so much.
yeah it is a pity. But minor compared to what others have to live through.
halfway, finally
goooooo sprite
are the hips starting to settle a bit?
yes, thanx. at least sitting down is comfy now.
very good. ibuprofen and reiki, golden combination, lol
100 in. Pfff like pulling teeth from a toad
oh, sprite. xoxox my dear.
*giggles* Oh don't worry, I love it. Always enjoy word challenges.
any plans for tomorrow?
so long as you are enjoying it.
oh yes, I do. The only grids I don't like are the short and easy ones. Because they are over too soon and don't make my brain gears groan
Hi again, Rose. Hi and hugs Sprite
like the 45 word grid the other day
hi Liz! *hugs* How are you and your beloved?
We're fine - and you?
I am fine too. Looking forward to a lazy weekend, just my girl at home.
Sounds really good - no stress :)
none whatsoever. And tim leaves for a two weeks' vacation this afternoon, so it is gonna be an easy two weeks here.
Wonderful. He must've been so happy with his results - you too.
we all are, yes. Such a relief.
And his plans?
he is accepted at the university of amsterdam, with chemistry as major.
Fantastic
pretty nice to start off with a 9 out of 10 in chemistry for his finals. I have warned him though... compared to school, university is brutal. Start studying from day one, keep up your notes and go to the classes. Or you will flunk so painfully.
how are the whales?
Very true - lots of independent learning is expected.
Out there! Lousy weather right now.
Might get out towards the end of the week. Depends on the weather.
yeah and in school, they are very helpful. "Jeezz Tim, your grades are failing, is something the matter? Can we help?" No such thing in university. They do have mentors, but it is up to you to enlist their help... and if you don't study, they will kindly tell you to either work or leave, because there are tons of others to take your place. It will do him good, I think.
I hope the weather clears for you. I always enjoy the thought you are visiting the whales :)
Hope so - it's certainly tougher at uni than most kids expect.
I remember my first year. Japanese language and culture. Apart from chinese, japanese is the language that is farthest removed from dutch. It was a kind of culture shock. Around Christmas, most students, me included, were certain we would never be able to learn a single thing.
Wow!
I've heard ?Japanese is incredibly difficult.
yeah. It takes about that long to start building 'coat pegs'... bridges between what you already knew and the totally new things you are trying to learn. Once you have a start, you can start building.
Ground to a halt here :(
yes it is. You have to learn to think differently. They don't have the same sentence structure as we do... no subject, no object, no verb forms, and then the writing of course.
I hear ya! This grid stinks. I am struggling. Have been struggling since 45 in.
Taking another break. Have a lovely, restful day.
sleep well, Liz, and have a lovely sunday
final word U9. Just like me, ending up with a biggie AND a vowel word. Rose, is it a fish?
enjoy your evening lizgirl. love to you both. xoxox
no way it is a fish
ok... in that case, may I beg for a clue, please? I think I tried everything.
it means shaped like a pitcher
rrrrrrrrrrrrright. Um...
ur9. ur + abbreviation for high up executive in a company + not early
pitchershape... not valid. pitcherforme.... not valid pitcherwhatthehecklike... nope
roflollll
thanks darling. Fireflies. That is a new one for me, what an odd word.
WTG SPRITE!!!!!
good grief. Did you look at the def? swelling out like the body of a pitcher and contracted at the orifice, as a corolla. Right. Thanks dictionary, for obscuring that up for me.
* giggling *
it sounds positively indecent :D
oh rose, I think one more week of work on the translation of the dance book. And then I can start with Jirelle, my own book. So looking forward to it!
well done sprite.
sweetie, sleep well and painfree, and hopefully cool enough. I hold you in my prayers. things will work out eventually. The Big Guy knows He is in for it if He lets you suffer.
{{hugs}} my darling. enjoy your weekend. xoxox
will do! To the hilt, grin. Luv ya!

I have that one
Now it is time for Crossy,s tidbit of the day!! Today I wish to introduce you to the ancient Japanese art of "Kintsugi" Simply put it is a beautiful type of broken pottery repair with precious metal that highlights and promotes a traumatic part of the objects life, and makes it a part of its history, rather that something to be hidden away. Seems to me it is like coming out on the other side of a traumatic event with your head held high, and as a person , or an object--you become all the more beautiful despite your scars. I will let you Google this art form, but there is a poem for this that I wish to share with you, since we all have our cracks from life: They Fill the Cracks with Gold He told her she was pottery; a vase with grooves and cracks. The patterns of the history she hid behind her back. Within his words he layered in- like thread upon a loom- The sweetest undercurrent to illuminate that gloom. In certain cultures, he decreed, when pottery is cracked They aggrandize them with gleaming gold to bring their splendor back For they believe, with certainty, once damage has been wrought Those tiny cracks, now filled with light, hold truths that can't be taught.--Sarah Spang
sorry, long one:) Now for a tea, brb

Nipples for all!
I have nipples.

International nipple awareness day:)
And the TE 4/4 is there too!
I saw te4 first, then looked below and saw the ar- words.
Crossy: That tidbit is amazing! I have a urn that will now be Kintsugi-ed. I had never heard of that!
It is a very interesting art form, is it not, Godthaab?
For a beloved piece, it is a very interesting option
finally nbt
It is! What a great idea. I just read a brief history of it.
I have seen repaired pottery--beautiful.
The broken urn now becomes more valuable despite the damage;)
It becomes a story:)
And that is why i do tidbits:)))
I cannot wait to see a picture of your repaired urn, Godthaab:)
hint for the ar 6/18, pls
ru6, please?
It might be a bit of a wait. It is ceramic, and I might need a lot of gold. The base has cracked because of the cold winter. I am still thinking about the process...
Bich, there are two ar 6/18's and one ar 7/28 and all have to do with nipples
I'm at the exact half way point and stuck, time for breakfast I guess.

Howdy RB. Long time, no see:)
ty marc
Can't believe I can't find the ec5/12? Could someone clue it for me?
found an ec4 and an ec 6, but the 5 remains elusive;)
crossy, I play during breakfst--not as good as yours!--but seldom speak up. I watch your lefe with interest--am waiting to hear about your valedictorian speech.
I will post pics and a blurb on my website on the big day RB:)
Same first four letters of the EC 6/21 + letter.
or is it already over. your life, classes, tutoring, helping kids--our current news is our evil givernor is closing the whole state musem system.
He is closing the museums???!!!
clue for the te9 please?
That is almost as bad as the powers that be in P.A wanting to close the public libraries!
zooz don't get the clue it is for a ec5/12 your clue is for a ec7
Let me see, RB, I have the date here somewhere...
that's what he says. its a threat to get his own way, he's one of our billionairres that the dems let in by not voting--and he's after everything cultural with a vengeance--and just may win--so my friends are taking early retirement, looking for other jobs etc
Do you have the chocolate Ec 6/21?
Yes I have the ec6/21
Taking away all that is good. Time to move.
Then just use the first four letters of that word then add a letter on the end.
of course it will save no money--the collections center has to be guareded around the clock, humidity kept constant, tec--and for a state and town that depends on tourism, he's closing all the historical site.
wouldn't a museum be a tourist attraction?
thanks got it
TE9 clue please?
If it closes, you can be sure they will jam all the artifacts into a unsuitable environment just to save money, and that will be the beginning of the end.
that is so ridiculous isn't it cross?
It is.
that's the point--he figures if he shuts everything he can get his awful budget through and then let things stay open--but sunce he a has the power to close anything state--but not the power to pass his budget alone--he is closing everything state. Of course he must know we depend on torism.
without a "reason" to come to any particular area people will not visit
It is so bad in some countries, i read that they are re-burying historical sites because they cannot put aside money to preserve the. They plot it all out, note the damage from the centuries, then bury once moe--they say for future generations to preserve.
sorry for the typos
we also have legal agreementw with the native americans and other froups--we take care of their stuff, they let it be here, and on diusplay, etc. This is affecting 6 museum sites around the state. He's shutting historic ones, too. I should post the poem I'm running next week in my column--saying why quit yet, close the libraries, the rest stops, the state parks, etc--let the tourists pee in the rain--
may as well build a highway bypass hten and everyone can just avoid the place altogether...
all libraries will be closed eventually anyway
looks like it--we've already shut all our branches, where the kids would study after school and use the computers--so why am I writing books? why are you, crossy? No one under 40 now reads--
As a town, we run our own library, even though it is part of the Simcoe County library system, and we went by ourselves to ask for funding, got 5 mil from the Govt, raised 5 mil of our own and built it as we wished it to be built. Now, we do not rely on anyone for funding any longer. We raise funds from within, and our precious library prospers.
round I am not buying one of those electronic book things until I absolutely have to and I don't read that much to begin with
today is the annual huge book sale in front of our remaining library--I need to go just before it closes when you can buy a huge bag of leftover books for almost nothiong--I need then vor my Little Free Library, the kids don't bring back the books they take
Can I PLEASE get a clue for TE9???????????
I write because I must. It is who I am. i am not out to please anybody. it is my own journey of self-discovery> I share it with others, yes, but I would continue if I made not a dime for my work.
ai7, please?
round I love books .. used bookstores are so much fun
TE + rodent + vowel + rub the magic lamp to get a ***ie.
There will always be those who read, roundbarn. if the library sytem is in peril then other avenues for those who read are more important than ever.
ty zooz
Ai7 if you have a pet in a box, Marc, you make these so they can breathe.
i write for the same reason, crossy--and have spent thousands and thousands on the book I sent you--Vol 4 is almost done, but nobody's buying even with great reviews----I have to learn to market. I want to share, is another reason I write--and teach.
I would put a shack at the end of my driveway and put my books in there if I had to;))
thanks great clue
ta et
I have one short story off for approval at Gotham Publishers in new York, RB. I will let you know if they like it:)
oops, sorry
too early yet!!
Howdy, flosey:)
need coffee, and start again
yesterday crossy I went downtown, there was a futurte Farmers convention, we're a great convention city--and I gave books away to the Future Farmers. The kids passed me by, their leaders acceoted with thanks!
zooz does it end in ho 4/5?
Yep.
If books were to never exist again, then what would we clutter up our coffee tables with instead??
Selling books, and the idea of the printed page will be a challange with the new generation to be sure, but, in the end, those who love a good story, one that moves them deeply, will always go back to their roots.
is that Ai not AT that ends in ho4/5?
A musch cherished tale is all well and good in digital format, but there is nothing like having a beautiful printed and bound copy for that truly tactile sensation.
cross I agree completely to me its a part of history and that's what I love about books
hope that's true with one set of g'children, cross--they have their electronci games, get A's in reading but don't read for pleasure. And their mom teaches reading!!
And it is not a new idea. Even back in the "pulp' days, those who write looked for a medium that would display the work as it was meant to be displayed, and that is why Arkham Publishers came to be.
August Dearlth (sp) and ray Bradbury contributed heavily to that small press.
If I had to, I would get a hand crank machine and set my own type;)
I think those e books are a waste of money its just a way to get the eye doctor's richer
Actually, MLF they do help my beloved. she cannot read the font size they use now. The ebook lets her read again.
are any of the A words on the 4th column common?
this is v interesting--but I better got back to work on vol 4--and be ready to go snatch the leftovers from the library sale. (I know what you mean about the small presses. At this point I am my own small press--the Beloit College Press decided to close. I just changed the logo to Beloit City Press--you can't tell the difference! hey, anybody reading all this and is interested, look up www.roundbarnstories.
with one of those cross they made the background brighter so people can read it better it was too dark before
I have difficulty on the computer now because screen is big and bright
Have a great day RB, and keep writing. There will always be people who seek out a good book such as yours.
thanks crossy and good reading, everybody. Some odd words in here, but I quit to chat. Now I'm quitting comepletely. Poof.
I run my screen at 65% brightness level, MLF. it helps avoid eye strain, and my beloveds reader uses E-Ink and is not back-lit but an early side-lit model with light blue leds. Works well for her
hubby has problems with his eyes and wears his regular glasses on the computer he has to use eye drops toos
it is a first ge Sony PRS model and must be 6 years old now. was $450.00 back when new, but if you can get a used one on the cheap I would.
I think like the temperature the changing of the screen brightness would be a battle between us lol
there is a program that will automatically set the screen to appropriate brightness based on ambient light. Featherbed runs it and loves it (Heather Mac). You can contact her via FB and ask her what the program is if you're interested

Ever notice that no matter how crazy an accidental word post appears, you will still give it a try? lol
With Enable, nothing is beyond the realm of possibility:)
not when I notice there's only one h in the grid
I prayed for a second h:)
I got a word out of it... hi4 :D
Every post is sacred
yup, just remove the stutter, and change the end
Love grids like this. Just when you are ready to run screaming into the day and howl at the sky in frustration, it begrudgingly lets you have a word:)
i fell asleep .....sitting right here doing babble.... what the hell>????
HI welki!
*waves to Welki*
Oh, you know, no problem with you, sir : P
can someone give me stats for either 8 please?
no.. and not any lap dogs either
Well, you are amusing at times : D
HA!
*Puts a little pillow under SMom's head
MLF.. with this grid.. i'd really recommend opening lickety sooner than later
I have a few times already not paid attention to the 8's at those times though
thanks for the pillow molly.... i am quite comfortable now

sorry dislexic fingers
wow .. just saw that my rank is 1015 , not 1-30........... must have missed a game but do not remember doing so... is there a way to check and see what day i missed
Smom, you have to refresh whenever you finish the grid. Otherwise you total points will not be calculated. In the way they are calculated here, which is ancient.
You can go to the Archives and see what points you got for any given day.
i do not know how to do that molly
Up at the top of the Chat Box is a tab that says ARCHIVES
It keeps a record of what everyone says here. Some people, who don't exactly tell the truth are unaware of that.
i went into the archives but do not see where i can find oujt if i have not played on a certain day... there were a few days when i did not say anything in the chog ( hard to believe, huh?)
Well, if you didn't refresh after you finished, your word list may have lost words. It is a glitch in the program. Always refresh when you are done.
The archives will show you your total points.
how do i refresh when i am done??
That depends on your browser. It is usually a little round arrow at the top of your screen. Or hit the F5 key.
*Takes a moment to say hi to Stalker woman*
Sammysmom, I just checked for you and on the Wednesday, May 20, 2015 you did not complete all of that days grid.
We would all love it if you would get a life and stop stalking the chat.
thanks zoom... i don't know how to do that and i do not seem to have a refresh button . and it seems that i cannot do anything about anyway.... maybe a glass of merlt will soften my irritation I(or 2)
Wow Zoom, you know just how to monitor the chat arcives.
All I did was goto the archives and click on a date at the top you will have everyones score from 1 point to the max you can get on the grid. I push the keys CTRL + F at the same time and you get a search box come up I start to put your name in and it will highlight your name and score.Did that from yesterdays date untill i got to the 20th may where you did not finish the grid.
Archives
I have had similar happen to me.i was convinced i had not missed any but found I had.
Oh great make me sound like a stalker, Molly..lol
thanks zoom and molly for the help.......... i see it now and can't imaging what happened that day, and i guesss here is nothing to do about it anyway....
Welcome, Sammysmom :-)
now.... what about this stalker,, is it someone i should be familiar with and why would anyone do that anyway. are they sick of am i just naive?
No idea, sammysmom, i know there have been lots of scams go on here and people having more than one account from what I can gather. But I try and stay out of these things.I am here to enjoy the grid and most of the people I meet here are nice people.
hi all. I just spilled half a large glass of water on my keyboard. it was a mess but my keyboard is really clean.

hello everyone
hi nan
wow I would turn my computer off and let the keyboard dry out, Peri.It might knacker your computer if the water hits the electronic parts of the keyboard.
Hello, Nan :-)
it is cordless and I dried it really well. seems fine.
but I will turn it off for a while. bbs
cool glad you sorted it, Peri!
Sorry if I scared you, Peri. But best to be safe than sorry.
Afternoon all! I was given a clue earlier in the morning when the grid first flipped for the te9, but I still don't get it. Any help?
TE + rodent + vowel + rub the magic lamp to get the ***ie to grant you a wish.
Thank you, zoozzoom!!
Welcome, Jade :-)
Can anyone clue the second ha5/12 please

Thanks bubba great clue x
yw
first ch 6, please?
I have the french house nan but I'm not working with a list so don't know if that is the first ch6
ch + 2 vowels + cons + vowel
Nice people...well that can be a scam too. People who lie about who they are and where they live are not very nice.
<casting a stinkeye at Molly, just in case>
She is suspiciously nice...
Thanks JB, but according to the Babble email chain, I am not nice at all. I am evil and horrible and should disappear from Babble chat. Now, ask me if I care about those opinions. : D
mmm - tried all combos that I can see and still not coming up with a word
LOL, Molly, you must be a button pusher!
oh -- missed one - ty judy
Oooh, CJudy, I got it in one! Thanks.
ch 6 following the swiss lodge, please?
I am a button pusher. And there are some very bitter people who can't stand the fact that they are no longer the Queens Of Babble. And that is too bad, because everyone should have their place here.
same word, change second vowel
nan alter the last vowel of the previous one
gee and i thought i was the queen of babble ..ha!
snap uni!!
Oh but Ivesy, you ARE.
me too, ivesy! have i lost my crown? LOL
Ivesy! I bow to you (and Une) always! :) How you feeling?
And Une too. We don't need old Queens.
lol.. i usually play early in the morning and let me tell you i am totally invisible..
need to shine up my crown i guess
molly LOLOLOL
i yam what i yam and thats all that i yam....
Treat 'em all like queens (even the blue purses, you longtime Babblers will get that reference!), I say, then that makes 'em happy, and then we're all happy!
Oh, also, medication.
you want me to make people happy!!!!
Thanks, SO MUCH, ivesy, for putting that song in my head. Mmm.
do my best jb lol
It's easy to be invisible early in the morning. That seems to be ALL ABOUT ME time in the chat log.
if the def is a member of the onion family -- that is sooooo misspelled (not misspelt, you will note!)
I used to pop in early mornings some years back, and the chat was ruled by a group that was very, well, inwardly focused and not willing to play together in the sandbox. I think they also ran with scissors...
oh it is molly... i rarely chat at all....i get a kick out of the people on all sort of medication talking about how much wine they drink
Oh, early morning USA Eastern Time, for reference. This game is round the clock round the world!
exactly jb
ty mo
sorry for the long delays here, but hubby is on the internet and I have to jump up and help him with something about every 2 minutes!
So, ivesy, are you better from your contretemps a couple of weeks ago?
yw nan glad you found it.
LOL, apparently he is not 'cyberhusband'
umm what was it lol...i dont remember , so i guess i am better lol
*Waits for my stalker to chime in with their two cents worth*
not at all JB
You hurt your, toe, I think. And, believe it or not, you were talking about being on medication and what you were drinking. hehehe
what's that about alliums? this chat is very confusing.
Molly, you should hold out for WAY more than two cents!
ohhh yea almost broke my little toe... its ok now, but i can predict rain now..lol .. if talked about drinking i was kidding cuz i dont drink ..
JBs, it's so amusing, I can hang with two cents.
Well, full disclosure: it was also with crossy, and we were more on about tea and coffee than intoxicating beverages.
that i do drink.. tim ho coffee. and i am luck i remember what day it is
Hi, Roses. More chatting than clues right now, hang in there!
I am clearly out of the loop... will go back to lurking.
go 6 please?
Tim Ho coffee? I like that so much better than "Timmies"
something you reach for
thats what we new yorkers call it molly lol well western new yorkers
Molly, I saw your chat with zoomzoom a while back, and I do the same thing in the archives. One of my 'someday' items is to go back in the chat log for some interesting reading!
i do like crossy .. i like the way he speaks of his wife . so much love and respect there
or a farm animal
i agree ivesy
back in a bit -- nice to see you ladies :-)
Ivesy, he's a nut, truly, but such a nice nut. Totally fits in the Babbleverse!
See ya, Une!
go 6/24 please, blah
thats nice to know jb.. :)
I am not familiar with that coffee line, ivesy.
tim hortons? you dont have it where you live?
nan - have you go**** any clues today?
hah good one JB, thx
nan go6 ... past participle of get.
ty JB
Not in Philadelphia. There's a Starbucks here and there, and a Dunkin Donuts on every corner. And Wawa sprinkled in like jimmies. Wawa is this area's equivalent of 7-11.
another non word
YW, :) thereal & nan
when I learned english the participle of get was got
I thought it was a Canadian only franchise. I need to expand my beverage options!
You all are so easily fooled. Bless your hearts. ♥
Tim's doughnuts are not as good now that they've been bought out
i think i've seen tim horton in rhode island
?? Molly ??
we have a tim ho and a dunkin donut side by side lol.. three timmy ho in our small city
we have starbucks on the college campus
Some people lie their asses off in here. Just for the sake of attention. And it works.
i often wonder in the morning if anything being said is true
Oh, okay. Keeping my agreeable face on.
When it seems "larger than life" it usually is.
it's an anonymous online game. Who cares?
I just found out that the only Tim Horton's in Philadelphia is in the sports stadium complex in South Phila. It will be a LOOONG while before I make it there!
Ah, there we go.
If it affects your real life that much, don't pay attention.
And for all the ex pat Canadians there's even a Timmy's in Belfast of all places!
well then thank you new york for our timmie ho!!and your double choc. donuts....
Sage advice from another "fan".
"fan" ??? please explain
this is a tough little grid
And more about TH's - from Wikipedia (think of this as your afternoon tidbit from crossy) Number of locations 4,590 Areas served Canada Ireland United Arab Emirates United Kingdom United States

wendy's commercials are enough to turn me away
most fast food anything is enough to turn me away
My "fan" comment was to Ivesy. But hilarious response.
... yeah ... annoying red-haired Wendy's chick is almost as bad as the old annoying Canadian Tire guy
Canadian Tire or Fountain Tire?
... there was a Canadian Tire guy about 8-10 years ago
Why do you all put tyres on your cars, but it's Canadian Tire?
the brits put tyres on their cars, not us
... only brits have tyres
no rugrat in the grid -- clue for the ru 6 please?

Wendy's always reminds me of Pippi Longstocking.

Interesting afternoon, Babblers, but going to tune in to FIFA WWC soccer. England vs. Mexico is almost over, fyi, England up by one. Back later to finish. See you all later!

Tried reading that new book "Wild" by Cheryl Strayed. It looked like it would be a good story about a woman who did a thru-hike on the pacific trail, but, sadly it fell flat about half-way through. Was not so much about her experiences on the trail as it was a inner stream of cociousness thing on her raving about how her mum had the nerve to die and how it messed up her life. I was dissapointed in it. Book was more a pity-party in the end. A Crosy rating of 2.5 out of 10 :(
I read it awhile ago. Heard the thing on public radio yesterday. I liked the one I read about the guy on the appalachian trail better.
I really liked the one by Douglas Preston about trying to retrace Coronado's trail in the sw us.
I will have to look that one up:-)
"cities of gold"
Suppose I want more of the minutae of the day-to day grnid on a thru-hike and less on what inspired a person to do it. I want to taste the blood, sweat, and tears--feel the triumphs and anguish, and bake in the sun and freeze in the mountains with them.
Grind
I should thru-hike our Bruce Trail and write my own. It is only 880k--small by PCT standards, but still a good, long hike. If you do a solid 8 hours a day, you can do it in a month:-)

I am well enough, bad jaw pain (suspect TMJ) the last couple weeks but wasn't about to miss school. So have an appointment Monday. *sigh* major dislikage going on! But it was sunny and my garden is growing...
I am sorry to hear you are not tip top right now but I am glad that school is over for you. I have a house guest so I must scoot back to her. I will email you with more as soon as she goes home again. We are having fun but I am exhausted. I hate shopping!
Love you, Bugs! Enjoy your guest!
