it is really nasty that you have to wait with the infusion until your liver has recovered from the wrong medication. (((((((rose))))))) So tough to keep on handling the pain, heat and insomnia.

Seriously? ( I never heard of Pie Face..). I will make enquiries in the morning. When my crew were very young, my brother lived in Newfoundland. On a visit home, he brought a stuffed purple dinosaur called Barney for Sarah. He said they were all the rage over there. I scoffed..... Story of my life. :-(

Hotels are great when I don't want to spend a lot of time with stressfull people ruru. Mostly I just want to sit around, drink tea, pull weeds and read books while we talk our heads off.
Before then, I am merely working my way through the boxes of stuff that came back after the fire, doing some research on best practices in the classroom for a couple of specific issues, and enjoying my garden.
Will get enough time on all of that before and after you visit.

Really, come for long enough to feel you have been somewhere else, and leave when you are ready. We can take a trip to the ocean (haven't been there in a while) and Mt. Rainier and/or Mt. St. Helens (haven't been there in a couple years, either).
I quit and used More Words for the last ones, jane. This grid got boring and had lots of strange words.
We could even go play tourist in Tacoma (museums) or Seattle (more museums) if you like. Or we can just sit around the house and I can teach you to play the drums.

I was there about two years after it blew. I'd love to see it again.
I remember vividly when it happened. We were sleeping outside on Denman Island just off the coast here and we thought the boom was someone setting off dynamite at the south end of the island. It was so loud!

St. Helens is making rapid progress, harpjane. Lots more vegetation and critters now. When it blew I remember the grit all over the cars, but we were on the upwind side so it pretty much went around the world before it hit us. My friend in Newport News got ash before we did!
This summer the barge has been ignored while he completely rebuilds an 16' speedboat from the hull up.

I remember that they had to bring in bees after the eruption, to speed up the process. I always thought that was really interesting

Good idea ruru. We did not get ash this far north but we went through the area the next summer and it was still all over the place. It was fine, like baby powder

Just checked that we were 300 miles away from the eruption and we thought it was less than 10 miles away
I read something interesting about the sound. Some hikers on Mt. Rainier report seeing the eruption but they all remember totally dead, complete silence.

One theory is that the sound was so low they didn't hear it. Another was that the sound waves moved in "pockets". Another was that the human brain simply could not process both the visual and the sound at the same time.
By the time the sound waves got to their ears, the brains were overwhelmed.
