thank you lickety!!
Hi all and thanks, Lickety
hi all!! NBT/NBS
Hi Diz and WTG
ty
halfway and off to bed to read -- gnite all :-)
Sleep well, Une
(late arrival here)
HI Ru
hiya liz
50 to go.. bagging it for the night..
off to bed with andy rooney... nite all
good morning all
{{hugs}} and good morning my dearest sprite. xoxoxox
hello my dear friend :) A very good evening to you. How are you feeling today and did you sleep better last night?
so-so with the sleep. i fell asleep easily, but that wretched nerve kept sending out its painful message. i was able to doze off again each time when the spasms settled.
under strict orders from my vicar to rest again today. i was glad to comply. lolll
that makes for a very restless night :( I know how that goes, and it sucks. Am gonna ask the Big Guy for a super peaceful night for you tonight.
how's the body beautiful today?
ah, good vicar
and good rose too, for listening to her
beautiful, but painful.
* gentle hugs * my darling. so sorry to see that. it's so not fair.
no it isn't, lol. But we both know that life isn't about fairness. We will manage.
*giggles* Just realised I missed a great opportunity there. I should have answered: beautiful, bountiful and painful. :D
lolll.
how's the diet going? have you been able to lose any more weight?
just waved and hugged goodbye to my girl. She has a dance performance in an hour, and after that she goes to a schoolcamp to help out with the first-graders. Won't be back until thursday.
hm, let me check, hold on. Don't hold your breath though. It is not likely.
half a kilogram... sigh
well done. that's another half kilogram you are not going to see again. a slow loss is more sustainable.
yeah but it is simply not enough, darling. They won't operate unless I lose 10 in total.
i know sweetie. as i said a slow loss is more easily maintained. i know how frustrating it is for you.
it means I I have to diet at least 2 full weeks for each half kg. Sometimes 3 or 4. So that would mean a year and a half of 2 shakes and one lean meal a day before I reach their goal. Not sure I can do this that long.
and what is more, probably my body will adapt and not lose that much anyway.
something has to give soon, and i am sure it will not be your will-power.
well no, that won't. Stubborn as a mule. But still... I might consider going to Groningen, where Cobi went to. They don't have a weight loss demand. Just a pre-op diet you have to follow. I can do that easily.
whatever works for you dearest, and what you are happy to do.
what would make me happy was for my body to give up the bloody fight, lol. Let go, for crying out loud! I am giving it every reason to.
but still, darling, minor stuff on the scale of life. I am fine and things will work out. Somehow. Will you take an extra lyrica before bed tonight?
can't use lyrica. it makes my feet swell and my lungs start to fill with fluid. maybe a baby dose of valium.
ouch, didn't know that. Thought that was what you were using against the nerve pains. Yeah, valium should work.
gr5t: someone who wants to get everything for free
why isn't that a real word? it should be.... lolll
that is the reason of being for our babble dictionary, lol. All those words that should exist but don't.
put it in, sweetie
will do :D
I love grislam and hormony. Such great words.
roostar - male chicken with a celebrity attitude
yep
squirrel?
nope, potty
lol ok :) No squirrels allowed there.
thank heavens!!
*hugs*
* hugs back * and * hugs front *
lolllll good one
* giggle *
so what's on for today? is Rob chilling out ?
no, Rob is gonna watch the dance performance (we could only get one ticket, alas) and afterwards he is gonna drive caya to the school camp. Then back to canoe club to pick up his tent and stuff.
for me, just laundry, I think. Emptying dishwasher. Low profile.
ah ha !! and then he is going to chill out ?
yay you sprite. we all need a slow day in our week.
shopping and cooking. Poor man, such a full day.
couldn't happen to a nicer person !!
lolllllll
oops ! did that come out aloud ? naughty rose
well he is an angel to pick up the slack when I am having off-days. I offered to shop, but he wouldn't have it. He saw me walk and realised it wasn't a good idea.
*giggles* Bad rose. Lovely friend.
yeah i know. we all have off days and it's nice when the other half picks up the slack.
sure is.
ugh! there goes the timer, dear. catch you later if you are still here. xoxox
enjoy your dinner, darling. I might be finished by then. We'll see though :)
laundry folded, next load hangs, I have used your dinner time in a smart way, lol
and i am back. xoxox
wb dear friend. How was dinner?
yummy. curried sausages and 4 veg
ooo that sounds delish
trying to resist the bag of rocky road candy don bought from the church stall. * sigh *
ugh... not easy. *holds rose's hands and makes her sing a song*
we all live in a yellow submarine ~~~~ a yellow submarine
lolllll good girl! Can't eat while singing... so let us sing... Ik heb een pooooootje met vet... al op de taaaaafel gezet....
hmfff, hmfff, * crunch * hmff, hmff
impossible. Your mouth is singing and your hands are being held. You are not THAT agile, me gal!
using toes....
yeah in your dreams, lol. Don, eat on, finish it before I have to let her go...
didn't say whose toes i was using
lolllll
* licking don's toes * oh, my, look at what i did !! woke the sleeping tiger.... lolll
in the jungle, the mighty jungle, the tiger sleeps tonight...
hush my darling, don't eat my darling, the tiger sleeps tonight..
not any more...
and off she goes.... but the food is forgotten for now
whoot, whoot....
missing 2 Ts and so so not seeing them, lol
te5/12, 6/21?
probably. am missing only 5s and 6s, so it might be a combo.
ah, there they are. The stupid worms. Thanks darling.
lizards, not worms. Pffff stupid anyway
yay sprite. what a woman!! and she's MY friend.
lollllll hardly a recommendation, but thanks for the thought :D :D
um... that came out wrong, I realise now. I mean it the other way around. Ah well, you understand.
* grin *
fireflies. Jeezzz, final word was the life-giving liquid. How blind can one be?
WTG SPRITE !!!
thanks my friend :) It was a nice grid, for me anyway. Flowed nicely without being too easy.
sleep well, rose... really well. Told the Big Guy to send a platoon of angels your way. No pain allowed. Just a long, relaxed, energising sleep.
well i enjoyed it. as you say it flowed well. but some had to be hunted out.
{{hugs}} my dear. i hope you can relax today. xoxox
yeah some stinkers. But that is all to the good. *hugs* and lots of love. Give Don my best too, please :)
will do. and hi to Rob. xoxox
Good morning, everybody:)
Hi Crossy - loved your graduation photos :)
hey crossy. hi all
tyvm Liz:) it was a grand day:)
Hi Peri
Hope the speech went down well
howdy, Peri
hi crossy, Liz, peri, granny
Hi bichon
Funny thing; I took almost three weeks polishing my speech, but once I stood there I found that i could not read from a pre-made text. I put the pages face-down on the podium, got a laugh when I told those gathered that I forgot my glasses(they were in my pocket the whole time) and instead spoke from the heart.
Howdy, bichon
Speaking from the heart was probably the best thing to do - though I don't think I'd be able to ad lib like that! But I'm sure that by doing this, what you said resonated with everyone there.
Made the principal cry--twice;))
:)
so that was all the gauge I needed for it.
A pretty good gauge.
crossy I see great things ahead for you
Did Vicki film it for you?
Ever notice that when you hear a recorded copy of your own voice that you sound like a blathering idiot? lol! I have the entire thing recorded, but it will most likely never see the light of day:)
yes, liz
That's great. It may never see the light of day but you've got it for yourself and the family.
I have a few other pictures, Vicki posted some on Fb, but those on my blog are the best of the lot.
I highly recommend going back to school later in life. It was an amazing experience!
I saw them on your blog - you posted the link and i saw it this morning (I think). Might've been last night!
Having taught for 30 years, I think I'll give more school a miss!
And once I turn 65, I can take university course free of charge!
:) Eternal student! LOL!
That's not for a while crossy, right?
We have one 68 year old who is off to take law
14 years to go. cannot afford university right now:) However, I now have all the prerequsites and can give the entrance exam a pass:)
I have a lot of admiration for anyone who goes back to studying. I don't think I'd have the patience.
The hardest was ENG4U--a university prereq English course.
What made it so difficult?
What surprised me was I really, really enjoyed Othello. The Scarlet letter--not so much
The difficulkty was in tearing apart and micro-diagnosing old english text
In the original old English????? Wow!
Yup
As Shakespeare wrote it.
Micro-diagnosing text at uni (studying German) put me off serious reading for a long time. I still prefer to read lighter weight stuff even now
That would've been incredibly difficult.
I am in love with reading for my own entertainment at the moment. it was a tough grind. I had 20 ENG4U assignments. 15 of those were essays. it too me 7 months to finish.
took
The final exam took a full 6 hours
All in favour of reading for your own pleasure. So, what next?
6 hours with no break? That's hard going.
next?...Well, I am finishing my first novel, have another short story out in the world awaiting life or death on the whim of a publisher in New york, and I am doing some private copy editing foor a few coins to rub together.
I was. i was allowed to take all the time needed, but I was not allowed to leave the room.
I knew about the novel, of course. So private editing. OK, is there much work around?
Ah! So the time was effectively set by you - that's cool.
No, there is not a lot of work around. I did a bit with a internet company selling used items. They needed a bunch of item descriptions rattled off real fast, and I did a copy edit on a book for an aspiring writer.
The time was set by my bladder! lol
lol
I polished it untill i was wiggling in my seat and called it good:)
perhaps the private copy editing will lead to other contracts.
I'd never have lasted 6 hours!
Maybe. We shall see.
Well, good luck with finding work.
I peed right before i went in, and drank no water until the end of the third hour:)
Most of the younger students rammed it off in 3 hours, but i am fussy.
Plus, my typing is not as fast.
think I'd've taken my lead from Greys Anatomy - worn an adult nappy!
lol!
Some of these kids can type in a blur. I was amazed!
20 left - some really weird words that I don't recognise here! I'll finish tomorrow - go and get on with putting together a photo book for a while before bed!
Have a great day everyone.
You have a good night and a restful sleep, Liz
nite Liz
Hiya - normal question - what are the stats for the 8, and should I be able to find them on my own (are they 'real' words?)
ce 8/50 and I would say it's a medical word
Now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!! Do you use the Chrome browser? If so check out the "Momentum" plug in. it is a personal, adjustable, dashboard for your life that comes up when you open a new tab. It is an excellent alternative to the same old boring wallpaper. Use this link to see just a bit of what it can do. http://momentumdash.com/
I have used it for 6 months now:)
it will also, on you command and settings, block out internet distractions when there is work that must be done:)
I use that feature quite often when writing;)
found a nice ae 7/28 that is not seen often in the grid. it is what you use on your lawn to give the grass roots more oxygen. A heavy drum or other device that punches small holes in the turf.
st8 is a real word, but it's a chemistry word so you may not be familiar with it
it is also the mesh bit that is screwed onto you kitchen and bathroom sink taps
ty crossy and Molly. Don't think I've ever heard of that thing crossy
Landscapers use one all the time.
It is good when trying to revive a sluggish lawn or when re-seeding a new one
Thank you to all who are signing my guest book on my blog in commenting on my grad photos. Babblers rock!
I apologize in advance for the Captcha requirement. It is the doing of webs.com and not myself. I guess they do not want tens of thousands of blogs filled with bot postings. they need to know there are real, live people behind the responses:)
That leads into a tidbit. The acronym "C.A.P.T.C.H.A" stand for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart")
ah ty for the st8 molly
still missing the fourth column E
ER6/24 harry
got it! ty montreal
nbt and nbs :)
:-)
and halfway !

bbl - gotta set up for a princess party
gotta go - 51 left for later - happy babblings all and take care - poof
Hi kids. WHo is still here? Hi lurkers. Come on out.
Howdy Scrabby:)
hola - in and out this morning
84 to go
*Pictures Harry in a tiara with a sparkly cape
I'm more the evil ogre
I kind of figured that. But I am amazed at the lengths Dads will go to for their daughters. : D
hah. it's true - if she needed it, I'd put on the gown and tiara.
good morning friends....
Howdy, trif
hi tri
molly, I have to say, in my personal situation I am amazed at the lengths a certain dad goes to do NOTHING for his daughters
but lets not start off on a negative foot....just seemed ironic
very happy to report that it is bucketing rain here - desperately needed, so im delighted. Also gives me a day off from garden slaving
It's unfortunate that a certain Dad is missing out on two great girls. He is the one who will have regrets.
indeed.
your profile pic is HILARIOUS, molly!
guess I need that advice today, eh?
Oh no Trif, YOU never need that advice.
you need sarcasm font, molly, lol
I wasn't being sarcastic. I rarely see you blather on and on and on about you.
well, thanks! I have the sneaking suspicion all the lurkers just majorly rolled their eyes, though :)
st8, please?
heres a fun fact about me: Im tutoring a college age girl later today, whom I adore, but her latest class is KILLING ME - college level meteorology....it's BRUTAL
I think you have to have some deep love for a subject like that to be good at it.
s + what drops out of your eye when you cry + consumed food
Back after a phone call. We had a monsoon here yesterday, Trif, now you get it today.
Scrabbler! How wonderful to see you!
thanks great clue Molly
How much do you know about college-level meteorology, Trif?
and thanks VERY much for the monsoon, which I desperately needed
a chapter more at a time than she does, scrabbler....and that is all it takes.
Trif, I was thrilled to hear that Car's back in better! She has suffered so much.
ME TOO - she sneezed the other day without screaming! Progress!!!
Molly, you are so good at cluing....I bow
I have had sciatica flares 3 times in the last 30 years and the pain is excruciating.
I have had sciatica injuries twice, the first time I shoveled compost incorrectly and fell right to the ground in agony.....and it's awful. I felt so bad for her
Nerve pain is burning, intense, and nothing can distract you from it.
here's a fun story about me, molly - Friday night Valentine and I wandered around looking for some live music, as we are wont to do. We happened upon a place where instead of live music they were having Karaoke. "Oh, let's do it!" I said. "It will be fun!" I said.....for whatever reason, I SUCKED. It was painful. Poor Valentine had to scramble like hell to think of something nice to say after, bless his heart.
It is amazing how many people suddenly think they can sing when confronted with alcohol and Karaoke
I can sing! It just fell apart Friday
It's more amazing how many people think they can sing.
But you did it, Trif, and that is the accomplishment. Now you have a good story to tell forever.
Oh I'm so afraid to ask this, but what did you sing?
I know that I cannot sing. My only musical talent is listening.
Band of Gold by Freda Payne. My go to song for years. Usually it kills, as I can hold that one note for like, 16 bars.....Friday, it KILLED. Oh well
Well, maybe it's time for a new go to song.
I was thinking maybe I am just too old now. Might be time to hang it up....would rather have gone out on a better experience, though
Your singing voice is kind of like any other group of muscles. It gets out of shape if not properly worked out.
good morning, all! And thanks to Molly for the st8 :-)
Hi Sue
good morning uusue
Band Of Gold was in my .45 collection, many years ago
still is in mine
may I please have the count for the lone e in the fourth column?
must be er6/24 but I don't have it yet
I cut my vocal chops on Marilyn McCoo. I adored that woman's voice.
she always reminds me of solid gold...
ah, found it. Let me know if you want a clue, Trif.
I found it as well. nbt, huzzah!
ce8, please?
a rainy sunday morning, a nice, fresh grid, and good folks to chog with....ahhhhhhh
"Chog" always makes me think of a drunk person trying to say "chug"
ce + rodent + robot ending
wonderful definition too!!! hahahaha
Yes, be sure to add that one to your seduction routine
whiny nerd: "Honey, Im ceratoid!"
thanks got it
is the it7 an extension of the it4?
no not really
thank you. I was thinking of you earlier, josephjames - I bet the math involved in a college level meteorology class wouldn't slow you down for tic!
hmm, I never explored meteorology
the formulas are daunting - thetas, and deltas and all sorts involved
it7 usually has re in front of it
again, molly, you RULE at cluing! Thank you so much! nbs as well
it7 roman road + consumed food
BBL. I need to look for some back yard toys for Jax's upcoming 3rd birthday. Water table, sand box, etc.
Happy shopping Scrabs
Grazie, Hego.
:)
Lettuce with candles?
Huh?
Rabbit birthday cake=lettuce
Jax is her nephew
Oh
Jax is her nephew, ru
lol
hi KJE
I can see the confusion, tho.
Knowing scrabs ..she'd have little bunny soirees in her yard
No, she has dinosaurs in her yard.
Bunnies in the house.
Dinosaurs?
Little plastic ones. Very cute.
Did those replace the flamingos?
No flamingos that I know of.
How was your trip?
Great!
Love the Mediterranean.
Very romantic.
Veryscenic.
Oh that Bill!!!!'
Felt like being in the Oddysey with all the modern conveniences.
That's what I said....lol
Found a horse!
Hiya Harp
And birdies
Hi hego
And ruru
Hi animal hunter
I think her husband's name is Tarzan

Again, Crossy congratulations on your big day!

You and the missus look great!
She makes any picture just that much better:)
4th column e?
Yes, she does.
Once again, ty to all the babblers who have posted to my guestbook:)
next year it is my beloveds turn:)
That's great too. Congrats to her!
She will do well, I'm sure.
MLF....er + opening in a fence ....
Hi Penq!

is the st8 a compound word?
nope
odd word...

Hello, T Owl :-)
nbt and nbs
rot i

Correc t
hi zooz
Covering for Erda...no wonder everyone ♥s you
not what I meant
hell o, Erda....
not everyone molly ..
LL Cool Ru
whatever
I am guessing listing is advised ?
I would never advise listing. I have seen so many "personal rules" about when listing is allowed it makes my head spin.
i list when it stops being fun.... ;o)
That makes sense Pen
Well.. I tend to list when I blankly stare at the grid and don't get anywhere
same thing, ru....
even with hints like Rot i
i usually go away for a while and come back first....often helps...
that doesn't help me
Yes Ru, Pen takes "looking" breaks. We dare not ask what she is "looking" at.
Molly - great icon message
breaks FROM looking, not breaks TO look... ;o)
Sure Pen. : P
bojazz....i just found an autographed picture of the Lone Ranger in a hidden drawer of a hope chest that belonged to my mother...
Thanks Bo. All about me people who go on and on about themselves get very tedious.
weeknights at 6 - The Lone Ranger and his trusted companion Tonto. great radio, great excitement
someone pulled the Trigger on the show huh?
oooooh...
Trigger, however, belonged to Roy Rogers, King of the Cowboys
but he makes a great joke for the moment :D
I held that out on a silver of hope. .er I mean sliver
rare form, ru!
roy Rodgers was Trigger happy!
:D
Ru has a great range
better - aeb
hopefully not ready to be put in the pasture yet
doesn't sound that way...
But always outstanding in his field!(LOL)
well.. I had a nagging feeling
Roy was happy to ride hill and Dale
LOL
VG, Molly
Trigger was faster than a speeding Bullet... ;o)
Dale did have a very cute butt
Ru goes for chicks who yell RIDE 'EM COWBOY
:D
Roy (in bed smoking a cigarette): "Wow that was fantastic"
Dale: yes.. but do you always have to yell HI YO
he just sings "happy trails to you...until we meet again..."
good, pen. now ru can rest
he's just fishing for groan to add to his total... ;o)
always
okay - "groooan"
YAY!
88?
yep
.. getting close to my goal and I still have the fall to go
you are apparently much better at eliciting groans than you thought!
well.. I have had a bit of practice
true...
I'm lost in the t's.. I just don't see them
i can relate....i have 7 T's missing right now...
well, having hit a brick wall, i am taking looking break....bbl to hopefully finish....bye!
bye pen
Oh now that your Number One Groaner is back, I predict you will reach your goal sooner than later.
yeah.. erda is kind of hit and miss on the groans
I can always count of Hego :D
I'm all bout goals and records, ru - will do what I can.
well you helped today Bo.. :D.. I've been in a dry spell
Had I known you were going for a groan, it would have happened much sooner...
ah.. lol
it was a pretty lame pun
not so!
Ru, I will be happy when you are getting groans in the proper way, instead of from elderly ladies on Babble : P
*waits for Molly's comment* (Coming)
LOL.. here's hoping Molly
If it's the proper way .. .my typing is going to go to hell !!
sorry about the tyops... ty...ty.......oooooh
Well, you would be the first one here making tyops due to being "satisfied"
*drinks to that*
so Molly.. yesterday was my last day of teaching my nephew how to drive.. he is ready to take the test for his license
it has been a long haul to get him to this point.
I'm sure you gave him what he needs to be a good driver
yes.. I paid for his driving lessons and then we practiced every weekend so that he'd get more practice and see real driving experiences California style.. we've had a blast together doing it.
considering I drive 25,000-30,000 miles per year.. I am somewhat of an expert on the roadways.
He is lucky to have an uncle who takes such an interest in what is going on in his life.
I would be terrified to drive in California
yes.. I guess.. It's been just as good for me
it's a little crazy in parts.. but not most places
That's nice. Mutually beneficial relationships are great
I'm really enjoying spending time with him. He's a great kid
He's going back to school finally and moving on with his life now that he can take himself to school..it's a big start
I am back and it looks like everyone is still here. Can I get a clue for ce6/24, please?
got it thanks
Oh, good for him. Sounds like he's found some independence.
it is hopefully the start of his independence and doing for himself...
same 3 letter beginning as previous ce words + museum in NY
cemoma
damn it
Sometimes young people need a shove in that direction from someone other than their parents.
does the ae7 come off the ae6?
ru LOL
yes.. that's what I think is happening molly
ae7 is "one who"
I've given him another perspective of the world.. and pulled him out of his xbox games
I would have loved to have had an uncle who took that much interest in my life.
me too.. I never had it either
thanks got it
I had an uncle who paid for my college education at a very good private university -- made it look like a scholarship, never told me or my mom (his sister) -- we found out about it inadvertently many years later -- amazing
the MoMA is my favorite museum une
wow une.. that's amazing
have you been to the "new" version??
yes..
I go to see the Kadinski paintings, Starry NIght, Pollock mostly.. I never get tired of looking at them
I'm not a big Picasso fan as a rule
he knew my dad was very jealous and would have refused the money if he had known
Kandinski and Van Gogh . . . sigh :-)
hmmm nice uncle.. did you ever get to thank him?
une, no more ny trips for you?
I was made to promise not to let him know that I knew . .
that seems odd .. although my nephew never thanks me for my help.. I just accept that he has bad manners
I grew up in the day of hand-writing thank you notes and acknowledging people.. but that's just me I guess in my family
neither of his daughters got a degree -- i think he was determined that someone would get one!! Ironically, his son, who was quite a bit younger and for whom he had little affection or respect, ended up becoming a well respected dentist in his community --
Families . . .. jeez . . .
Ru, I was reared to write thank you notes by my mom -- always always always . . .
I tell my nephew.. thanks for today.. and he says "no problem!" LOL
after I drive for 4 hours to give him a driving lesson and take him out for Pizza (his fave)..
My grandmother saved my letters and cards -- I have her cedar chest in which I found a number of them :-)
It is unfortunate that people seem to be oblivious to expressing gratitude. And yes Une, hand written thank you notes are still something I do and had my kids do, when they were still under my thumb.
I wonder if Une's mom knew she was raising a Saint?
Ru, my dad was a jealous, unhappy man -- and my mom, being a 50s housewife, would do anything to avoid upsetting him -- it made me NUTS
oh..
we had that dynamic at our house.. but worse
Ru, it was my MOM who was a saint -- seriously
well.. she did good by raising you..
Oh wow, I have to wonder how many people grew up in a home where you tiptoed around the elephant in the room
I admire your unselfishness une
after my dad died, it took my mom a loooong time to allow herself to do something for herself, something SHE enjoyed
my house was like leave it to beaver from HELL
I was the Beave
sorry to hear that, ru
s'ok now.. 40 years of therapy later :D
(just kidding)
my dad said things like, It's too bad your brain and ambition are wasted on a girl.
:-)
Many women have a tendency to avoid doing anything nice for themself. Somehow, they were ingrained with the idea that selfless was how women should be.
I think a lot of 50's marriages were circumspect
wow.. what an asshole une
indeed, molly
In the 40's and 50's, women got married and had kids because that was what they were "supposed" to do. Many of them then became alcoholics and pill heads because they were bored to tears being housewives.
yes.. that I think is true molly
in my case their alcoholism meant taking it out on the kids
so sorry, ru
made me a stronger person une.. but thanks
I think it is why still today I don't really drink hard alcohol or gamble
late in life my mom told me that when my brother was born, my dad was so jealous of her love and attention toward him, they went to a counselor who said Daddy really needed therapy -- he never ever saw a therapist
Everyone has a choice, to be either a victim or a survivor. You chose well Ru.
so true, molly
i've known a number of children of alcoholics who won't touch a drop
that is likely the story for me.. I like the taste of whiskeys.. but don't enjoy the strong buzz
I especially like scotch
I needed two glasses of wine yesterday to unwind from the freeways on the weekend.. two baseball games NASCAR races, and Gay PRide in SF.. the freeways were a parking lot
California freeways are legendary -- can't imagine trying to drive on them!!
ok, time to take the pups out -- BBL :-)
I was insane to go yesterday.. but I needed to show my commitment to my nephew so that he'd keep going
<--knew a pee break was coming
fe 5/16, pls
fe+the ending letters of someone who belongs to a group of people with similar talents.
sorry wrong word
no it is the correct word bichon!

Hi Pen, jbp
hi, lyn
hi Owl
jbp, there are no 9s but there are two 8s
Hi jaxx. How did you get on with the consultant this week?
Hi, Chrissie. I am to have an operation to remove the half of the thyroid withe most cysts and the two parathyroids hiding behind this on the left of the neck.
I have been given a provisional date of 10th Sept for the op but I shan't hold my breat knowing the NHS.
Sounds like a plan! How do you feel about the op?
After the deaths of two of my friends with MRSA, one at this very hospital, I am dubious. I don't feel that well though and want to feel better than I do at present.
jaxx, wishing you the best.
Get some dettol soap, start using it a few weeks before the op and take it in with you
I will do that. What a good idea. Thanks
I wish you all the best too xx
aww Jaxx - I hope the op going quickly and well and you are home fast and back to your cheerful self. Will be thinking of you.
Again, thanks. My sister wants to come and look after us while I am taking it easy. After our last encounter I suspect that it won't help my recovery one bit.
Can hubby step up to the mark?
Thanks, Lynx
He is a better housewife than I am. He has had a course of physio followed by a spell at the gym and the improvement in his movement is amazing.
taking a break. happy babbling.
bye Owl
Bye TO
You too, TO, when you return.
That's good for him and good timing for looking after you
Exactly! my joints feel gummed up but I have been told excess calcium can cause that. Another reason for the op.
Let's change the subject. How is that gorgeous grand-daughter of yours?
Just had a quick google. Looks like the surgery is usually very successful.
Bye to you both
She's decided that sleeping is over rated - her poor Mom!
Bye lyn
The only side effect is a possible change in my voice as the nerve runs behind the thyroid. I could end up unable to raise my voice or very gruff.
Bye, Lynx. Now the fun starts. babies are lovely while you can put them where you want them and they'll stay put.
But on the bright side, you could get a job as an Eartha Kitt tribute act 😉
Good Evening, All. How are you tonight?
Hi Nef
My 10 month old son's party trick was walking along the edge of his cot, like a tightrope walker. I don't think I would be very good at being Eartha Kitt. I can't sing now and I don't think the op will work a miracle where that is concerned. lol
Hi Chrissie
Hi, nef. How are things?
woahhhh... just monkeyed the 4th column lone E - er6/24 - I really surprised myself there! :o
(((jaxx))) I know you said you wanted to change the subject; but my brother had his parathyroid removed years ago & has done well since then
wtg rbud
Nice, bud! (& thanks)
I have a relative in America that had similar symptoms to mine and she ended uopwith thyroid cancer. I don't think that is my problem as the scans would have shown it up surely?
kept thinking about that moldy rye bread thing that leads to hallucinations, and it just kinda fell out, lol
Sorry, that was rbud but spellcheck didn't like it
ergate
oops, I just found that too :)
Free word :)
I don't mind "bud" - also get called "rb" in here, it's all good. :D
There we are everyone, my free word for tonight. lol
Jaxxx, the scans usually do show it.
strange one, isn't it? no idea what it means, too ennui-filled to look, lol
A worker ant.
(and your free word was a tad late for me; but I'm sure others appreciate it
BBS, I need to check up on DH
In cornwall they call tourists Emmets which also means ants.
hello again....can someone please clue the ce 6/24?

Hi - can I get some help with the 2 fe 7's? Please.

peri - I am so dumb, I can't see either of them.

Hi all - Dianne, you need to add a consonant before the mate
Have you read the book Fe 6's Last Theorem - build from that

I'm doing okay, Liz. I am hoping that Life will settle down again soon.
Sorry to hear that it's been unsettled.

Thank you for taking pity on a frazzled woman.
Also hope it settles for you very quickly.
ti 5/10 - a crown
ty Liz
yw
and done
Congrats, Peri - 5 left
go Liz!! I am leaving so congrats in advance, Liz!
Thanks
It hasn't been "unsettled", just busy. DH has been having lots of doctor & dentist appointments, plus PT 2 - 3 times /week and he doesn't drive; nor do we have public transportation in our quiet corner of the City. I'm tired of driving
YAY, peri!!! WTG!!!
That's very tiring for you - i can understand how you feel. Hugs and sympathy winging their way to you.
Thanks. (It's really cut down on my "fun" time online.
Which would explain why i've not seen much of you recently - though I've been tending to finish the grids "last night" my time, so also not often online at this time.
Are you near Herin? I think she's something like 15 hours ahead of my time zone
Not that near - comparatively speaking. We're in the same time zone at this time of year, but we don't change our clocks! We're north, in Queensland.
Fireworks
But nowhere's really close in Australia!
YAY, Lizlin!!! WTG!!!
So, it's about 10:30 Am your time now?
Thanks
That's right - Monday morning.
About to go and make some bread. Any clues before I go?
LOL!!! We just were at a family reunion for DH's family. Some relatives from Sweden were there; some young 20-something types thought they'd go from the Twin Cities (MN) to the Grand Canyon, DisneylWorld, and New York City this week! (they didn't realize the USA was so big either
No, clues yet; go make your bread. Thanks for offering!
LOL! I made that mistake the first time I visited Canada - a small distance visually on a map - much further to drive in reality - I was about 19 at the time. My dad wasn't happy!
Have a good evening Nef.
LOL!! HAGD, Liz! Thanks for the chat! :-)
But the drive was worth it in the end.
Aww, to be young again! :-)
Bye!
Can I get a push in the right direction for the ce 6/7?
it rhymes with A puppet frog, Miss Piggy's boyfriend?
Nef - thanks so much.
yw. :-)
How are you doing today, Dianne?
hi all.
Hi TO. How are you tonight?
fine, and you? How are you?
trying to relax, TO. I spent over an hour trying to figure out a password for a site I needed to get into; and I didn't drive ANYWHERE today at all (in spite of what DH wanted)
i hate when i forget passwords.stressful
do you have a password notebook?....if not, perhaps you should start one...
Forget the password, then keep trying to get in with what I thought the password was, and locked myself outfor an hour after that!
I know, pen; I was too lazy to look it up (I was *sure* I knew it!)
ah...been there, done that... ;o)
(and felt really stupid after I realized I was trying to open a site so many times I had about 8 windows open for the site!
oh no!
What was the old joke about the computer isn't the problem; it's the person in the chair not reading directions?
At least I can laugh about it now. :-)
Could I have the stats or a clue for an 8 please (not quite half way yet;
ce8/50 c+ a period of time + a robot ending
st 8/40 ... to affect the direction in which a car travels + to have consumed food
thanks doseffing
got them both!
.. glad to help
I keep wondering how all those words come from that C anyway
... there are four ce's which are not common ... but the eight cr's are all fairly common
I have 7 c's so far (2 with your help)
heading out...g'nite all...
DH is trying to figure out what to do with our rhubarb and berries; I picked about 3 quarts of strawberries, raspberries and mulberries today; plus we both picked & cut up about 2 gallons of rhubarb yesterday
nght, pen.
Niters, pen!
do you ever have a word so stubborn you cannot even find it with assistance?
... many times ... which one is hiding from the monkeys tonight
What word are you looking for TO?
there are two. will look just a bit longer. one is a four letter word! grrrrr
gpt the 5. one to go.
and done. thanks for the moral support.
Go, TO! You can do it?
... well done
... need 13 still
Finished? WTG, TO!!! YAY!!!
watching invasion of the astro-monsters. godzilla, rodan and ghidra
Oh My! Is that a movie? With all 3 monsters?
finally half way!)
yes!
and aiens and nick adams, who was quite the heartthrob.
I've never liked "scary" movies, & have never heard of Nick Adams (I'll have to Google him)
the rebel.
Googling him and the 3rd movie he's listed in is the one you are watching, TO. I guess it must be "good" then
it is pretty campy/
... and done .... may I offer a clue for anyone?
I did find that he played Johnny Yuma (but I thought that that was the name of the TV series - it wasn't, it was The Rebel)
YAY, doseffing!!! WTG!!!
yay dos! i have to go, happy babbling, all.
Bye, TO enjoy your movie!
And I'll keep plugging along here, dose; I don't need any clues yet. Thanks for offering
Watching the Glen Cambell tribute on CNN and it's bringing tears to my eyes.
is that the one that PBS put out sometime this past winter (when the story about hi dementia broke?)
This one is sponsored by Lilly (who's doing a lot of research into Alzheimers) and is called "I'll Be Me". It follows his last tour.
oh. Now I don't know if it's the same one. I just remember him singing on stage & the narator & his wife talking to & about him
interviews with him and his family, doctors and other performers. and singing alone and with family.
dueling banjos with his daughter - him on guitar and her on banjo.
I don't know, then. I watched one this past winter & it was a heartbreaker.
keith urban, steve martin, blake shelton, bruce springsteen, john paul white, and more paying tribute
Nope, I don't think it's the same program then
It's such a horrid disease that I think it's okay to have more than 1 show about him.
you're right. and this one is explaining a lot. Glen hasn't lost the ability to play music or to sing, but can't remember the words. his attitude is amazing. he's happy and carefree
I don't know how old you are, but I'm old enough to have had most of his early albums from way back when
Oh yeah. I don't have albums, but I remember all the way back to his summer show as a replacement for the Smothers Brothers.
Okay; then you're another "woman of a certain age" (as my sister calls us!) ;-)
I'm 71 - will turn 72 in August
yep. (funny, you don't *look* old!) ;-)
Neither do you
(should have been an exclamation point after that)
thanks. You do remember when the only ones with blue hair (back in the day) were older white-haired women, right?
Yes - before Marge Simpson.
I don't have white hair; I'm still waiting for mine to turn white (or even salt & pepper like both of my sisters' did). I have impossible hair so I'm hoping it will improve with age
I've been coloring mine since I was 30; it was basically brown, and I've kept it mostly that with highlights. I *think* it's probably all - or mostly - gray. But not light enough to go blue.
One of my dear friends always had dark hair until she retired. She let it go natural then; it's the prettiest white and the funny thing is she looks a lot younger with it white! (she started coloring her hair when she started going grey around 18 yrs old)
This is sad to watch. It must have taken so much courage for the family to make this show. They're showing so many of what Alzheimer's means
*much
It's a terrible disease. I belong to a group that donates money to a research lab here in the Twin Cities and have volunteered to be part of a study for long range memory testing here "The Memory Project" becauseI've seen how terrible dementia is (I'm a nurse)
Good for you. There's so much that needs to be learned about this disease.
BTW, I'm about an hour north and west of Milwaukee, WI, so we're not too far from each other.
Mayo Clinic in Rochester was also involved in this movie.
looks like they're re-running it right now.
Sorry; had a neighbor call about a barking dog & she wanted me to check on it. (she's on crutches, elderly, and on the street behind the house with barking dog
poor dog was locked in a room all day while the family was gone; they came home while I was checking it out.
rotos
Poor dog! (and thanks - didn't have that one)
Ooops!! Sorry!
not to worry
Well, I'm not going to get any more - 70 left - but it's past my bed time. Night, Nef. It's been good talking with you.
Good night Java2. Nice talking to you too!
rotate
Ooops! I'll shut up now
LOL
(Niters!)
69 lurkers sitting in a tree..
I'm trying to finish, ruru
okey dokey
68 lurkers sitting in a tree
how are you doing on this grid
66 now
:-)
(Actually, when you posted at 11:15; I was taking out the trash)
66 lurkers and one garbage person
:D
Someone has to do it; right?
Ah, I should de-lurk? Hello, then :)
Welcome!
Thank you!
Have you finished yet Filomena? I have 24 words left to find; & can't see them
Oh no I rarely finish. It becomes an obsession for me! But I play everyday.
de lurk.. I love it
I used to play every day; I broke that addiction; and can play for relaxation; but now that I'm retired I rarely have time to play or chat much
Ha! Yes, we are quite busy in our retirement. Funny how that happens...
ratso
That's why I don't chat, I get the boxes mixed up :)
(you could give a real word now, you know)
(true, that was silly)
LOL! :-)
ratso is a good gang name
I'm getting the feeling that Lickety & I are playing on 2 different games; even more words is desserting me
haven't yet needed a gang name, I'll remember that if it comes up...
And I'm going to quit at 22 words left. I do not want to get caught in the flip (I'll stay up too lateif I do!)
Good night, and Happy Babbling!
Have a good night!
