yw Liz
thank you lickety!!
nbt
*wondering if diz is the only person here that knows an ng word off the top of her head
I remember it from a few times before...lol
I also remembered it after your hint :)
i dont know that ng word and havent gotten it yet. what language? any ideas?
mkg - follow what Diz wrote with something very very small
a bronze coin and monetary unit of Zambia, the 100th part of a kwacha
so says Enable. Not especially useful IMHO.
it is useful if you are in Zambia
:)
if they still use it there...
how about a clue that might get us somewhere?
Or planning to visit Zambia ;)
I thought I helped at 12.09, nan
liz gave one at 12:09
dont see a hint just the ng5. where is the clue?
12.09
just before my Enable pasting
ty - missed the earlier clue
Repost -mkg - follow what Diz wrote with something very very small
ok the bronze coin. got it.
ty got it.
googled bronze coin zambia.
ch 7 - NBT/NBS
WTG Diz
And thanks again

nm got it.
ty diz

not seeing that ch 7 at all
3 N words??????ouch.
some stupid word? a compound?
Stupid word - not a compound
Might more usually have another vowel in it - adverb ending
not compound just different ending. i never heard it before. must be british.........
is it britsh liz?
Not British mkg
got it -- ty liz
yw
ok.
stupid indeed
nbt/nbw off to sleep.
I guess processors don't rate with enable
Sleep well nan
Sorry - meant mkg
bye mkg
be 7 -- another stupid word
Thanks - will search
Yes, stupid!
But enable is full of strange or stupid words
and inconsistent... amie is acceptable but cher is not
off to watch the fireworks then to bed -- good night all:-)
True - but these days I just accept whatever.
gnite nan :-)
Happy Canada day and sleep well.
Hi everyone, company all settled down for the night, except for grandson, will get a few words before calling it a day
Hi and happy Canada Day flosey
thanks Liz, has been a great one - first time all 4 of our kids have been together with us in 20 years
How wonderful for all of you :)
hey flosey -- know you're enjoying having all the family together! :-)
FWs
tks Liz and Une, it's great - tomorrow is youngest grandson's 6th b'day so another celebration
So lovely to all be together for all the celebrations - quality family time :)
And one spoilt grandson, I'd guess ;)
no, truly not spoilt - well loved but with a certain amount of control
Was only joking!
But special for him to have all his aunts and uncles around, as well as grandparents.
Enjoy your evenings / sleep well all of you.
Sorry Diz - missed your fw - congrats
thanks Liz it has been such a special time for us
wtg Diz, Imissed it too!
Hey all -- Happy Canada Day, flosey!
hi Stid, Thanks, it has been the best! don't see much of you these days
no, I am not usually online during the school year, and rarely up much past 9.
Wish I had more stamina to babble -- miss you!
keep well Stid and enjoy teaching
:-) Thanks flosey -- it was a difficult/exhausting year, but a good one. Already planning next year, and will be able to take a little more time for myself once the kids are back than I could this year. Already carving some time for myself... did you hear I started playing drums in January? :-D Mid-life realization of something I have wanted to do for decades. Wish I had tried it years ago!
wow, good for you, enjoy! Glad you've had the opportunity to realize such a desire - great way to release frustrations!! giggle
well -- halfway and falling asleep. Back tomorrow late to finish. LOL for sure! I call it the best therapy ever... so far it's more fun than frustrating. Take care, and enjoy the family time -- hope to "see" you again soon online! Love to Mr. Flo, too. ((hugs)) *Poof*
tks Stid with hugs
<---wonders what this point in stid's life is cymbalized by this ?
hahaha ru, sure hope we never have a neighbour who realizes such an alternate ambition as you suggest there
I used to have one and he was a terrible drummer and we used to have to call the police to shut him up late at night
referring to the cymbal!!
:D.. just another lame pun flosey
but how frustrating,
famous basketball player in ther gri tonight
not lame, was quite appropriate
from cleveland
oh yeah sammy
was he amazing in the finals or what.. he's unstoppable
my friend and her husband went to one of he games .... that was an 800.00 dollar evening ... for that kind of money the sob had better cook for me and friver mer home too
drive mer
that was probably in the nose bleed section.. the prices here were INSANE
2 seats on the floor in Oakland were $81,000 and someone paid it
yup/.... glad i was never a hero-worshiper..... where i came from, the big shots wee all ove ther place and the natives left them alone........ theyh are just people too
I had some heroes but few sports players are my heroes
yup.. i meant 800 each and that did not include parking dinner.. programs or the t shirts
oh sure.. parking is usually $40..+ other expenses add up to a huge amount
for $81,000 I better have a luxury suite .. an open bar, and several escorts :D
at least
ewer
ooops... welcomer
that plurals too sammy
:D

good morning all
re 6/14 clue please
re + baby eagle ending
Thanks
hello sprite
hey ru :)
this is a fun board tonight
looks like it. Funny setup with the vowels in the middle
{{hugs}} and good morning sprite. xoxox. and g'day ruru
*hugs rose* Good evening dear friend. How was your day?
all good thanx. had follow-up appointment at outpatients today as well. all good. have been officially discharged.
ah I am glad. Liver ratings back to normal?
hello gr
liver ratings?
ratings just above the upper limits.
ok, going in the right direction then.
yeah, rose had an allergic reaction to a medicine and her ratings went through the roof.
ruru, i told you i had had hepatitis brought on by one of my medicines.
no.. you didn't tell me that GR.
what type of hepatitis
when i was admitted to hospital all my liver enzymes were crazy, plus my CPR was 257, normal is below 11.
whoa
i told you in chog when i was well enough to play again, but the flip had just happened, and i am guessing you were also really tired as it was in the middle of the week.
yeah it was rather scary. But all over now, thank God.
was that a possible side reaction of the drug that you knew about?
CPR is the enzyme released when there is an infection or inflammatory process happening. my local doc had a panic attack.
I bet.. those are scary numbers
no ruru, i didn't know. i was also taking paracetamol for pain relief and a sta. tin for lowering my cholesterol levels
* statin *
was it a combination that caused the inflammation then? Pardon me if I'm being too nosy
both of those can cause liver damage. needless to say i am never going to take the tegretol ( prescribed for the nerve pain ).
I would never take drugs that can cause liver damage.. I drink too much :D
the docs don't know for sure, ruru. but i am going to err on the safe side. i have to take the statin as my chol. levels have risen again despite the fact i am on a diet and steadily losing weight.
once the liver is in uproar, every medicine will stress it further, I think. Now that you are off the tegretol, things should settle back to normal.
lollll ru :)
* giggle * my son says i don't drink any more now that guzzling is in.... lolll
wth is guzzling?
a pig in a trough
gulping large quantities sprite
ugh... like a pig in a trough
oh, thanks :) And LOL
we call cars that get low mileage gas guzzlers
right. Another thing learned from babble! Thank you.
your knowledge of the English language is extremely impressive sprite and I'm happy to give you new ones when they pop up
oh oh oh... speaking of losing weight... rose... dietician yesterday... and I have lost 4 kg! 3 more and I will be at the required weight for the op.
thanks ru! For the compliment AND the explanation :)
wow sprite, good work.
op?
I have never been in a hospital to stay in my life.. you two are in there too often of late huh?
yes am preparing for a gastric bypass, ru. Had to lose 10 kg to give the surgeon enough room to work in.
wow.. sprite.. be careful on recovery.. that's a very dangerous operation
not me, ru, thank God. Last time I was in the hospital was when I had to have a huge but benign tumor removed... I think that is more than 10 years back. This is more or less voluntary... I can gain a huge bunch of health from this op.
yes it is. This hospital is center of excellence for this op, they really know their stuff. A long preparation and lifelong checkups afterwards.
I hope so.. I know of two people who've done that surgery.
but so worth it... diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholestorol, joint pains and even depression either disappear completely to the point you don't need meds anymore, or almost.
yes? Bad results?
hi
well.. if those are present.. then yes it is worth the risk. I hope it all goes well
hiya kje :)
??? WHA? KJE?
what are you doing up so late
thanks ru
I thought that when I saw you... kinda late even for you
g'day kje
hi sprite!
hi granny!
I fell asleep earlier and missed the flip.. I get to chat with the late night crowd tonight
I woke up over an hour ago and couldn't get back to sleep
oh
special treat for us, ru and kje in chat
insomnia is a bi... lady dog
it's rare for me
I'm going to goof off this weekend kje starting tomorrow afternoon
lucky you
traffic in SF is going to be impossible out your way
I do have to come to SF Monday.. but going to miss the GG Bridge closure
yes, that bridge is a problem
no kidding.. I think people are going to be nuts on the freeways
and we are suppose to sail from sausalito for fireworks saturday night
sounds like it will be hell
oh.. I"ve done that.. that's really fun .. spectacular on the black water
we may have to take the ferry over
bring a warm jacket
down
right
corner n?
for sure sprite. that bridge closure displaces thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands of drivers to other bridges..it's going to be pure hell
ng 5
I drove to SF last weekend.. we had Nascar races, two baseball games (Oakland and SF) and the Gay pride parade.. it took me 3 and a half hours to get home that in a normal day would be an hour
ouch. That will make for complete traffic jams everywhere else. All who don't have to travel, better stay home.
I know that ng word... it has been in other grids... come on memory, kick in!
ng + little
ty
thanks :)
when is your surgery scheduled sprite?
where did GR go?
it isn't yet. I am in the preparation stage still. Have seen the surgeon, now I am to see their dietician, their psychologist, their internist. If they all say go, the operation will be planned, waiting list atm is about 3 - 6 weeks, so pretty soon.
did you go watch the Gay Pride parade KJE?
i'm here.
oh, rose is easily distracted, lol. Probably a squirrel.
see? :D
oh sure.. she's attracted to nuts
hence her love for babble
*giggling*
kje?
huh?
*warms some milk up for the Doc that needs to sleep*
ground to a halt at 50 left.
did you watch the parade last weekend?
I hate milk
oh.. sorry
*pours kje a stiff drink*
I'm allergic to it .. so I don't have it much
sprite, do you have bl5/20?
no, avoided the masses... was tempted due to the historic SCOTUS decision, but I hate those huge crowds
much better, sprite
the sound word? No, that is 16. Let me try and find it.
scotus?
well.. it would have been the best one ever I'd guess. I would have loved to go just to see the spectacle..
supreme court of the United States Sprite
supreme court of the united states
They passed a gay marriage ruling for our entire country..long overdue
ohhh the legalisation of the gay marriage in all of us? Yeah that is historic, already. Yay for Obama.
some are still protesting
just assholes kje
like ted cruz
maybe tx will finally secede
good riddance to texas
that ruling is toiling it's way through our government now.
lol my daughter said some us citizens were saying they would emigrate to canada. Where gay marriage has been legal for longer... guess they didn't know that.
and they can take those cowboys with them
i think it will die down soon... too many reporters down south looking for drama
b legh
I went to a gay wedding a few years back when it was briefly legal (two guys I know in Saint Helena) and I have to say it was the most moving wedding I've ever been to
sorry about that. It was not a comment. Just an attempt to find that word
nope. try again
lol thanks rose

bl5/20
a bl5/20
bl _+ most of what you do on a keyboard
right. Never would have found that on my own, thanks
you're welcome
ty
I grew up with 9 gay cousins.. so this was a great thing for them
wow
9 out of 53
it's raining!
it is a good message to the whole world, I think. Cut the discrimination crap, get with the times and drag your asses out of the middle ages. We don't burn witches anymore, let's stop pretending homosexuality is bad.
and my windows are open
what?
brb
exactly sprite
wish it was raining here. Not even noon and already 30 C. In the netherlands, which means very very humid heat.

Yesterday got over 36C, Sprite. Now it is 18C and raining here..lol
not yet.. I lost one that I did like.. since my current house wasn't on the market yet.. it did work out ok for me though as we're going to get a lot more money for the house now that the market is red hot
oh zooz, I hope that means we will have rain tomorrow. But forecasts say it will be even hotter tomorrow. Guess I will have to shoot myself.
I should email you a link to my house kje in case pete wants to buy you a vacation house
Or just use a fan, Sprite, less painfull :-)

Okay time to go down and put clothes in the dryer.
lots of changes for me too kiwi.. I'll have to read it
Changes happen ruru it's the way life throws those changes at you and how you react is what matters
yes.. I came out of it pretty cleanly.. but I had guidance to get me through
I didn't come out too cleanly but I've done a lot of things to drag me up the ladder this year and while I'm not out of the hole yet I'm not flat on the bottom anymore

For my first time back I'm already half way. I guess something's never change after all lol
hehe it is nice to get into the zone and find all those words trying to hide from us in the little grid :-)
I've been gone for a good two years zoo lol
Eyelobe?
When I stopped for about a year & half And got back into babble again.I must admit it took me a while to get used to all the babblets again..lol
Google it, Ru bags under the eye if I remember correctly.

Welcome, Peach :-)
I need 2 more to finish: bl5-20 and th5-16. Please.
Bl + most of what you do on keyboard
BL + most of what you do with your keyboard.
Snap!
TH 5/16 is a variant spelling of thane .
Not sure if that helps.
ok back, laundry in dryer, shower taken :)
Or TH + 2nd vowel + **occhi (small dumpling)
Ty zoo.
That is a strange bl word.
Welcome, Sukee :-)
And I'm Scottish :)
Hi zoo.

Well, I was out of the room :)
Sweet sleep, Peach :-)
Not seen the BE 6 & 7 in the grid before.

A little Gloria Gaynor in the morning,
I have to run, time for the gym.
Hi Kaplan
Mornin' folks.
Hi Scrabs, Kaplan
Play that song at a wedding reception and all the women get up and dance like it's the tribal song of the sisterhood
good morning, everyone!
hi dawg, Molly
Good morning lbgnomer
th5/16?
th5/16 ends like the beginning of a tiny, pesky insect
Or the beginning of your icon
ty Molly
looking in wrong direction, thank you.
can any one give me stats for N in top corner - cant think of a word that begins N and then not a vowel!!!
ng5/22
Is it a Vietnamese word?!!
... nope ... african currency
... but I thought of it as a little Vietnamese
Known people with NG as a name! Never knew the correct pronunciation
ty dos
... I've usually hear it pronounced "eng"
Good morning, everybody:)
Sorry didnt thank you I did find it
fyre
I thing Asians pronounce it eng, but Africans, I have no idea
... no problem ... morning crossy ... thanks for sending the sunshine down from the Bay today
No Problem at all, dose. it is a beautiful day here as well and there is lots of sunshine to go around:)
Gorgeous here too. No rain for the 4th
... that's good news ... ... my daughter is going to NY for the weekend and has been fretting over the weather for a week now
Ha ha Grant. There are tyres in Canada, but no fyres : D
... tyres only appear in the UK ... we've got tires just like you ... but we do have colours
no syres either?
Well thank you Dose. I was confused by that as the store is Canadian Tire. However, I have seen Canadians here use tyre. I guess that is because so many Canadians speak Brit.
... must admit to never having seen tyres but I wouldn't doubt that somebody uses it
... we don't have aeroplanes either ... only in the UK ... pity
We are all separated by a common language:) Pity eh? lol
... two Canadianisms in one two word sentence! ... Well done!
In some of my writing submissions they ask that we use the language of our particular countries, but with one exception-- they specifically asked Canadian entries to use american English so no words like colour, theatre etc. I must write as an American or my submissions will be rejected:(
... Americans have never like us ... oh well
However, U.K entries are not bound by this rule.
Interestingly enough, it is a U.K business
... oh well ... they've hated us since 1760
One of the little writing quirks that pop up from time to time:)
there are also american entries for Canadian publications where the reverse is true. they must put out clean copy in Canadian/ U.K English because of the destination magazine or article.
it is usually no problem. just change out the dictionary in Microsoft word and alter everything in edit.
it is one of the things you do not think about going into this sort of job that blindsides you at first.
... did you find that the kids in your classes had much if any knowledge of the Canadianisms?
Since 99% of them grew up with it they knew all the spellings, however, if they had to write a pretend news clip for an American paper, they sometimes ran into issues where they would mistakenly blend the two
honor/honour theater/ theatre were the two that had to most problems with conflicted writing.
bigotry. it comes in all forms.
it is not bigotry. it is cultural differences. it is what it is when writing
... must admit that I'm not sure if my daughters put the "u" in colour and they're both in grad school ... I have a hunch that soon the most common place to find the Canadianisms will be American standup comics poking fun
it is not that at all. you must write as the client wishes you to write.
doseffing ProfileCanada ... oh well ... they've hated us since 1760
haters gonna hate.
If I am told to write american , i write American. If I am told to write in the Canadian/ U.K manner, i write in that manner.
... they have ... didn't know what to do with us when they took Quebec ... passed a censure motion in the House of Parliament when they traded Martinque (or some other sugar plantation island) for that frozen piece of rock that is Catholic and speaks only French.
think I will dive into the grid for a bit.
whatever. i don't hate canada or canadians, as a whole.
... Churchill couldn't tolerate the idea of Canada as a threat to UK leadership in the Empire
... oh well .... can't let history get you down ... gotta go ... ... good luck to all .. and a sunny day
go ahead, you showed your hatred.
morning all, can someone clue me the le 6/24 please?
anyone out there?
here, but have no le 6/24 to share ...
I think I will just work the grid for a bit. every time I speak it starts a war. it is too bad. When writers get together, we take great delight in discussing the nuances of the English language. I am sorry it it created issues.
my le 6/24 is the pl of the le 5/14..........sounds like a book of tallies
Crossy, I couldn't see where you said anything wrong
I do not think I did, however, it was the genesis of the problem that resulted.
Does anyone have the stats for the first row n?
ng 5/22
it is a form of currency, I believe
Crossy, I think you just stated facts about writing. But I guess people have strong feelings about language. ;)
ngew
I guess I got up on the wrong side of the bed. this is the internet, where people are free to express anything without reservation. Including disdain for any nationality or ethnicity.
oops, sorry.
ng and tiny
ngew
sigh..
Good morning, all!
Howdy, Judi.
HI Judi
oseffing ProfileCanada ... Americans have never like us ... oh well is not exactly friendly and is a baseless attribution unsupported by fact. perfect internet rhetoric. case closed.
Reading back in chat... since when does Canada hate the US? I thought we were buds from way back.
hi judi and annie
hey Owl
I am meeting a friend for breakfast, must be going
All I was doing what chatting about interesting writing issues I run into when writing for magazines from various countries. I hate nobody.
exactly. if someone can make a blanket statement, surely the accused can respond in defense. now, i AM sorry to have thrown a monkey wrench in chog, but ot for defending us.
And as i stared, the company in question of from the U.K and not the United States.
spoke directly, not stirring the pot with everyone in chat. now, do we move on or do we make this the topic of the day?
I think it best to move on.
Moving on!
Who the hell is 72 temple owl??
MRP!!!!
Crossy!!!!! Xoxoxo
Glad to see you!
Hiya, MrP! Long time no see!
My favorite Aussie lass!
is so good to see you here!! how you going??
hi judi! long long time no see!
mr. p, what a surprose.
All is well! How's life down under? Ever get any rain?
it is going well, MRP, my "boy" is 21 now! and Big news round this house is my recent graduation. You can see some pictures on my blog. the addy is in my profile.
I surprose so. Hi TO
Life is full and whelming... we get lots of rain here on the coast
I know crossy! been seeing all the wonderful stuff you doing on FB... congrats luv!
So, what is new down under?
need a clue for the LE 5/14 and 6/24 combo
Hiya, Buttonman.
hi judi
Judi, do you have the combo I need help with?
21 already!!? crickey that has flown!
Yes. Le5/6: One/those who have a terrible skin disease.
Judi, it is the one before the skin disease
Oh. Well then, I don't have it!
different sp of a book you keep accounts in
if you find it, let me know....it has me stumped
the le 5/6 sounds like an accounting book
Ah. Ty, Phae & Kalea.
thanks, kalea, got it
yw
most welcome
can anyone clue the RE 6 please?
I think a generic statement like "Americans have never liked us" is a little harsh.
just bullshit really. " this is the internet, where people are free to express anything without reservation. Including disdain for any nationality or ethnicity." ~ TO Unreal!
hi mrp! Good to see you here!!
I sue!! great to see you too!!
Howdy, Suze:)
hi crossy!
i think the intenet is exactly like that. i do not use it for that, but i think many do. i twas surprised to hear a blanket statement that americans do not like canadians. i think that is baseless.
Molly, It is just distasteful and disrespectful. "I think this therefore everyone thinks this"... just ignorant
too right TO.
hi y'all just jumping in for a quick hello to the chog... been a dog's age
hi carlee! Good to see you here!
carlee!!!!! ((hugs))
Howdy, carlee:)
but i am VER sorry to have felt compelled to respond. so i do ask for a bygone from fellow babblers. and speaking of canadians, omg carlee!
hi ya MRP (huge hugs) and Uusue ( Huge Hugs ) too!!!
hiy crossy... TO !!! HELLLOOOOOOOOOOO :)
so what is up in babbleland today ( am just here for a quick chat... am off to stratford to see hamlet shortly)
Hamlet! that is fun!! you have a fella?
nice!
same fella for 2 years now... but he is currently away at a conference.. am going with a dear friend from school
That is wonderful hunny!!
Hamlet. I think that's considered bacon in Canada.
lol
hahaha!
hamlet and eggs, with a side order of home-fries
we're off to the cancer support group in about 1/2 hour; then I have a doctor appointment to see if my tiredness is due to sleep apnea - if not then it's probably just stress (my guess anyway)
on ya crossy! LOL
*Sigh* Once again, there is a shooter gone nuts at The Navy Yard in DC.
thanks MRP... It has been a while since I have been to see... but a fab canadian actor in the lead... I hope I can get SoA out of my head whilst watching this production...
Suze If you have apnea, remember, i have a 1400 dollar cpap machine I am not using:)
oooh.... there you go Suze... I hope is just stress though...
well, it would be a good excuse to come visit, crossy, but I think my insurance would cover it :-)
molly, has that been confirmed?
stress is a bugger
my insurance only covered 700 of it:(
Yes, it's been confirmed. No injuries reported yet.
that sux.
i know that facility well. the time i spent there was just after the bombing.
how are you doing MRP? things coming back to an even keel for you hun?
TO, I'm sure it's bad deja vu for everyone there after the shooter in 2013
Yes carlee... I used to be f**cking stupid, but we broke up LOL
I agree, Molly; I think we underestimate the effects incidents like this can have on people
well I hate to say it... but casein point... aonly ariver separates windsor and detroit... and the major difference is the gun laws... am all for hunting..but damn I am not sure I would ever feel safe entering the USA withtheir willy nilly gun laws how many does a person need?..1 or 2... but not a bakers dozen's by all reports
well... they dont call richard dick for nothing MRP ;)
and man.. am I ever full of typos today.. up too late writing..and up too early to get myself ready
hey mrp!! so good to see you! :-)
HIYA UNE!
Une!!! ((hugs)) great to see you hun!
hey carlee :-))
lol mr p! i've been that myself. a lot.
i enjoy checking out your FB page occasionally, mrp -- nice to see pics of you and yours :-)
Isn't it too real TO! LOL
Thanks une! I do try to keep up with the pics of the very grown up children I have!!
hard to believe we have watched our kids grow and flourish on here.. mine are 23 and 19 now... <gobsmacked>
::tiptoes into chog::
My DD is 17!! going on 40... and my DS is 16 going on purple smelling salts
hi nadine!
hi there EVA!
Purple smelling salts???
Hello MrP! hits carlee!
I know! our kids are all so grown up now... just amazing how fast time flies
I should have said purple unicorn farts
ok.. well nice to say hi... I have to dash... I have to get out the door in 40 mins as I have a 1 1/2 hour drive to the theatre ... and my hair is still dripping wet
unicorn farts?? lol!
<shoulderpunch> to eva ;)
Oh well, I guess that is a great example of the misconceptions people in other countries have about Americans and guns. We are not all owners of a dozen guns and we don't all walk around holstering a magnum.
Either way, that doesn't sound terribly healthy.
evaN!
could I have a clue please for that corner N?
and hello all :)
And don't unicorns only fart glitter?
ng5/22
I know Judi. He is just out there... Can't get him to do anything social
and I don't own a gun. well I have staple gun.
Ng5, Harry.
judi LOL
He is a glitter brain!
And yes, it is a foreign coin.
Harry, I knew you were one of those dangerous Americans. : P
ty une - will sesarch.
Chicks dig dangerous guys.
and ty judi
nbt!
bye, carlee
staple guns can be quite dangerous.
geyser, elegy, leggy, robins. Never let it be said that I don't have an active imagination.
well I suppose that is the perception the US media wants to portray. Any time I see US news from Detroit or cleveland ( we have mostly US channels here on the border) all I hear about for the first 20mins of a 30 min news program are the shooting deaths and drive bys and kids dying from unsecured guns owned by "careful" and "responsible" gun owners... gets tiresome.. but hey if that is how the Media wants the world to see the US.. so be it..it is their broadcasting $
Hi, Doug!
see ya carlee! enjoy the theatre
*waves bye*... toodles
got a meeting. bbl!
That's it, I'm moving to Canada. I guess they have no crime there.
come to australia! we only have crime on the news!
Yes, but they have cold weather and snow, Molly.
i really, REALLY want "elbow" to be in the grid. ::grumble::
Oh damn Judi, I forgot. And that low rent Molsen beer too.
Navy yard cleared. although the CNN reporter did ACTUALY say "normalacy"
( well we do have our crime.. but OMG we have health care too JIC you happen to cross paths with an armed moose along the way)
Australia is looking good. No snow and Fosters.
*nodding* So, I'll stay armed and take my chances here. We only live a short way from "Murder Town USA" - WIlmington, DE.
Too many lethal creatures.
in aus
Australia can be dangerous. Sharks, snakes, cain toads. Oh my!
and don't go to those other places they keep mentioning on the news... Knifepoint and Gunpoint... sound like dangerous places
NASA is recruiting folks to go to mars
The sad truth is, criminals will always find a way to get weapons, whether they are legal or not.
I love shark... tasty with tartare
::icon updated:: Easter-Dino seemed a bit passe...
sharks are on a rampage here in NC - 7 attacks in three weeks. peak vacation season.
I think Wilmington DE is only Murder Town USA because it is centrally located between NYC, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington. The drug dealers and gangs are all incorporated here.
what is DE? pleas
Delaware??
The state of Delaware, MrP.
ah thanks for clarifying that
nice icon, evaN
Sorry, being an Aussie, you might find me asking how long it takes to get from Florida to Miami
I like the new icon Eva. : D
Any animals today?
Whaaaat? You haven't memorized yank geography? For shame!
There's a bird, harp!
and a fish but it is too short.
can anyone clue the RE 6 please?
I think unless you are a geography nerd, you don't know much about the geography of countries other than your own. And some people don't even know that.
re6 sounds like a baby eagle
I am sure a taxidermist can REpelt
Happy Birthday to me!
Happy Birthdya, MLF. Try not to be so secretive about it!
oops I guess I screwed up didn't I Judi lol
happy birthday, fan!
welli am not doing anything special though hubby went to order some pizza for us
After midnight here... time for sleep... thursday has come around way too quick. Nite all! Ill see you all soon!!

No, it was for Buttonman who asked for re6 around 9 AM
mollyL *invisible cluer*
glad I didn't get in the Canadian discussion.. I like the Canadians I just met..
it was a non-event. Maybe the heat mafe people more miserable
:( Glad I missed it too
Gee I thought our American/Canadian relations went great on Salt Spring :D
moi aussi
<---we americans do make Canadians drink more though
how do you figure that? I thought we were all on out bestest behaviour...
oh but you are speaking generally, I see. You have no idea how much jill and I went through ha-ha
Actually, I see a lot more disparaging remarks about America on this forum than I do about Canada.
lol
probably about the same percentage wise Molly
the only Canandians I complain about are Celine and Justin Bieber.. but most Canadians agree with me.. which is why those two live in America
PULEESE they ARE NOT repeat NOT considered Canagian by Canadians anyway
well.. you sent them here..
we can thank you for Ted Cruz too I guess
sorry for bad typing, been watering neighbours' places
Isnt Michael Bolton Canadian grrrrrrrr
is he?
he's doing soap commercials now..
and William Shatner out favourite whale
lOLOLOL
I heard he was sunbathing on the beach in Hawaii and people were keeping him wet and trying to push him back in the ocean
I'd use his soap any time (unless you are talking about William Shatner in which h case I'll pass)
Lolol Ruru
lotta ooomph power there
Oh, news to me. Celine and Beiber are now "magically" not Canadians?
The baby eagle clue certainly worked for me, Molly - thanks.
HA!
Look out for Michael Boltons Secret Passion - he sings arias, he isn't an opera singer but he makes a pretty good go at them
I'm trying to make a batch of phone calls, finish the grid, and catch up on the chog - but must go now, sad to say. Have a great day everyone!
not really, they are non-magic Canadians]]\
bye helen
Did the Canadians decide they weren't Canadian? Good move
At Least with Bolton he still can sing.. not like other "older" musicians who think they still "have" it
Even if he couldn't he is so pretty tho' I preferred him with the hair!!
*bets Deeha would like a dose of secret passion with M. Bolton*
Funny enough Ruru I just got ho5.16!!!
that ho 5 relates to sexophones
oops saxophones :D
Not in this country it doesn't!!
why .. is it spelled hourny?
giggle
:D
nO JUST THE STANDARD 5 LETTERS
oops didn't mean to shout
I thought of ruru when I saw that word too...hmmmm
just making your point cleat Deeha
Its something I like to keep quiet about at my age!!

ribbed salad veggie car.ee
They are allowed as long as their children don't find out!!
Ru, I have to wonder why you have the reputation as Babble's biggest ho4 dog
Yeah...just pulled a Peri and saw it right after I typed my request.
beats me.. I think of myself as a normal guy
There is a momma turkey and her baby right outside my office today...they are so sweet!
And it's not like you are the only male that makes sexual remarks here
has anyone commented on this grids teeth yet today?
LOL TO
It is a bit gnarly, T"O
pardon the lackof apostrophe, stand down, grammar police.
I don't think anyone has mentioned that this grid has teeth. But I can rely on the other 150 times that comment has been made.
*guffaw*
how many neighbors are you watering Saanich?
i do not seem to have a fireworks photo that shows up well in small format. need to change avatars.
I like the one you have
two, takes from 6 am til 8 am every day
wow you get up that early?
ty car, not sure which one you can see. just changed but will change again.

Not always but the mornings are cool and fresh
I like my mornings to be warm and snuggly
Just you and Dylan. :)
I'm not an early rising as a rule

Oh well
he's gonna be pissed when he gets kicked out of the bed :D
*Marks Ru off the "morning man" list
morning Hego
How are you on Canadians Hego>?
I beg your pardon...
:D just a joke
Kind od personal, no?
there was a dust-up earlier in the chat
;)
actually they are really nice people.
uh oh
<--- takes out Swiffer and cleans up dust off cabana tables and chairs...
When you grow up in Ny, NJ Canadians seem super civilized and polite.
I didn't mean Canadians ON you hego :D
Car! good one!
I knew what you meant. lol
if may set the record straight, not a dust up. dos commented that Americans have never liked canadians. i thought that was not true- s0many Canadian friends here - and said so, that it was just hate speech. over and done.
*Cues up "I'd Like To Buy The World A Coke"
no.. I got it TO.. and good on you for pointing it out. IT was an odd comment out of nowhere
Well, I'll go on record as liking all the ones I've met.
*sends Barry Manilow to Molly's house to collet Royalties
Not too fond of Beiber, tho.
me too hego...those BC-ers are great people
who is? what a tool
As far as this forum goes, there is more anti-American sentiment here than anti any other country.
one thing though hego
yes...
it takes a lot of wine to keep them happy though :D
to clarify: the comment was aimed at bieber. early fame has its downside.
It's COLD up here!
Raise your hand if you are surprised that Ru hangs out with winos
LOLOL
Oh, yes the BC crowd appreciate wine.
hands down your point is made Molly
I'm one of the winos. lol
mollly, i think they are called wine connosieurs
saani, right!
Or, um, vintage women who appreciate the grape, yeah
or wine afficionados
I'd be surprised molly I am the essence of modestly drinking
*coughs*
Sorry, I keep forgetting about your state of grace, Guru
damned spell check. why did i even think i could rely on it?
LOL
well.. don't you ever forget that :D
!!!
We'll let that one go Ru.
HAGD everyone
bye, car. watch out for those turkeys.
The essence of modestly drinking....I almost choked on my coffee...
bye
isn't it early for turkeys
never! thinking about a turkey club fr lunch.
Nah, it's lunchtime here.
There are always turkeys lurking about
I don't care for turkey.. But I'm big on stuffing
no comment......
like bread stuffing hego
I can handle turkey on Thanksgiving, but that's it. I don't get people who have it for Christmas and Easter too.
Oh, that...
love fresh turkey. hate gravy reheated restaurant turkey.
i like it for sandwiches with lots of stuffing,
hate gravy in all forms.
and a dab of cranberry sauce
I like biscuits and gravy...
thanks hego
exceptin the south philly definition.
yw
*wavy Gravy protests in the PB*
I have never had biscuits and gravy
oh.. yum
It's very fatty, Saani
it's a Oklahoma / texas kind of thing I think

All over the south, Ru

be6/39 elmer fudd honking his horn
Hi scrabs

*tells grid it isn't its fault*
Clue for the left corner N, please?

Is it something I might know? Well, I know I don't know it.

very crunchy sticks
I have the stalked veggie.
vegetables that take a ribbing
lol, good one
Thanks Scrabbler and rurocks
you off work today Doc?
i have the urge to just take a trash bag and start dumping stuff. going before the moment passes.
No, on lunch hour. On phone with pulmonologist now too--multitasking.
impressive multitasking.
I thought I was multi-tasking by sitting up and drinking coffee
If you're in health care you must be able to do anything with a phone on your shoulder.
Done with phone call. Baby with CF.
so sad
what's CF?
Yes, bad disease, although lifespan and quality of life are much improved over the last 3 decades.
for us laymen
Cystic fibrosis--lung and pancreatic disease.
ugh
My worst case right now is boy that I diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy last year. DMD is a cruel disease.
Poor kid
it must be heartbreaking to see really sick kids
Making that diagnosis crushed me emotionally. I look at him and then think of his future...so tragic.
tough one
It is very tough emotionally, Ruru. We have had 2 kids diagnosed with Stage 4 cancers in the last few months.
Why I avoided pedes
Must go to lunch...later folks
I passed halfway so I am done. See you in the morning.
whew finished bye for now see you at flip
and thanks for the laughs
bye saan
I have to do paperwork.. I should head out too.. have fun all
*Saani...finished...Ru...doing paperwork...marked on the board*
i am finished, too, if you are updating the board... ;o)
*Pen...fiendish...I mean finished...
:oD....running out of knitting projects....getting a little antsy...
Isn't it a little warm to be knitting?
we have had a cool spring....if I am not knitting something large, it's ok...
i had bought some nice yarn in the Outer Banks and was anxious to knit with it....been on a knitting roll....
summer time I knit bunches of dish/wash clothes and scurries. Big stuff is for winter
agreed....though generally, i don't really do much big stuff....
that would wash cloths, and scrubbies
I'm in Texas, so really too hot to hold a big project in my lap
cheers
oops, sorry
i recently bought a book of dishcloth patterns that are very nice....birds, butterfly, frog, turtle, flowers...one on each...
I knit simple, quick cloths and donate them. Nothing fancy
these are not really fancy....very easy....gave the last two to my friend's mother...
Sound too nice to be dishcloths
they are nice, but not fancy....and easy to do...
hand knitted, cotton cloths are fabulous
i think i will make a few for my brother and sister-in-law....
Birds, butterfly, frog, turtle??? Make them for Harp, the animal woman.
ha!
hi all. help with either 7 pls
be + cries....
ch 7....rah + adverb ending...
ty pen, silly word
ty pen, got them both
yw...
Gotta go....need anything before I go?
bye!
Oh no, the helpful cluer has gone. *Sniff*
And now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!
The visual "tail" of a comet has nothing to do with its direction of travel; rather, solar wind pushes it so that it always points away from the Sun.
I'm totally stymied by this n - nthly was my only guess, that made any sort of sense at all, and it didn't take...
the n in first column is ng5/22
is a form of currency
of Zambia
Ng & piddle, Rasta!
Howdy, Sooldes:)
ty, would never have found that. Whose currency?
zambia
Hey Cross & all :-)
And apologies for my inelegant clue!
No such thing as a bad clue:)
hi again all!
Howdy, Suze:)
Hi (((Sue)))
hi crossy and soodle and rasta! Good to see you all!
ng 5 sounds like elmer fudd struggling with his zipper to go # 1
All together now, clue the ng5
I love inelegant cluing
:-)
The word "inelegant" makes me laugh...a lot...
Why's that, Molls?
It's kind of like Eliza Doolittle. Portrayed as elegant, but not really.
Oi'm a good girl, Oi am....
Sue - I haven't seen you for a long time. How's Frank doing?
Hi Soodle, my profile is kind of a blog about Frank - he's doing sort of ok, in "maintenance" chemo right now and will have a PET scan in two weeks to see what the cancer is doing (if anything - it was gone the last time they looked).
He's had a lot of lower back pain in the past few weeks, which we are hoping is just the usual human consequence of walking upright, but when you have cancer you always worry about every twinge
so for the next while we will be chewing our fingernails
Give frank my best, Suze, and tell him to kick that cancers arse!
Gee! Sorry, Sue. I should have thought of looking at your profile. Wow. That is some journey you are travelling. ((((Hugs)))) to both of you.
On the bright side, the cat is doing much better, and is most vocal about wanting more food (which I am not giving her; part of her problem was that she had gotten quite fat)
poor, tubby kitty:(
You should hear her, Crossy - you would laugh! She has pathetic down to a science.
trying to play you, she is.
no kidding :-)
of course our own cats are continuing with the training of humans...
she even eats the dogs' dry food if they don't eat it fast enough themselves
if she starts barking, then you know you have a problem:)
or if the dogs start to meow :-)
:)
Good grief! My daughter has a cat - Dora. Suzie has been away for the past few weeks, so I have been looking after him. (Yes! Dora is a Tom... long story...). He has woken me up each morning recently yowling & howling to be fed. I never knew just how demanding these critters can be!
They run this house to be sure.
breakfast and dinner at a certain time, wet food must be shredded and not pate, water has to be ice-cold three times a day, they need walkies in summer time, brushing once a day, certain type of litter or else.. and on and on
My cats can tell when it is dinner time to within 5 minutes
We do not walk our cats (I don't think they'd cooperate in any case). But meals on schedule (and ours insist on pate and not shredded), and the litter box must be clean or its surroundings won't be, if you know what I mean
Yup. a revenge turd bombing run...
But it was all in a good cause! Suzie was stalking Taylor Swift across Europe & in Glasgow last week, she finally got to meet her. If you google Taylor Swift Suzie Dickinson you can read all about it. They spoke about cats!!!
Very cool, Soodle!
hello everyone :-)
Howdy, Cybernan
hi nan!
Hello Nan :-)
I envy my youngest daughter's passion! I'd love to be as passionate about anything....ANYTHING!
Well Soodle, at least the cat didn't wake you up by barfing a hairball on your face.
OK, my lovely friends, I am off to rot my mind for a while playing video games. Talk to you all later!
True, Molly. But he did put the heart crossways in me by jumping in the bedroom window & knocking everything off the window-sill @ 3.45 am.
Bye Sue. Best wishes to both you & Frank. X
I should clarify - I live in a bungalow....
You people who deal with the cat stuff mystify me. Truly.
hi all, how's the grid today?
Super duper
great!
belony is not a word
just monkeyed the bl 5 -- strange word
i have a bl5, which you hear then the bl*** a naughty word on tv. is there another one?
(then the = when they)
Yes, and Nan is right, strange word
In Britain, swear words are bl5ed out.
okay, thanks all
I'm surprised you had to "monkey" it Nan. It's been clued several times in the chat.
just got here molly and wasn't around long last night
Jaxx! How lovely to see you! How goes it?
And just for anyone looking, the bl5 Nan was referring to is not the bl5ed out word
hi soodle, my toenails are Scandal and my fingernails
are Hi Maintenance.
hello all
hi peri!
help with ge5 pls
Scandalous, High Maintenance Peri. I'm not surprised.
I'm suitably scandalised, Peri!! Good for you!
Gwen, I have some comic books and fashion magazines from the 50's. do you have any idea where I can sell them
((soodle)). I have had the test results and my op is set for September. Otherwise I am fine. We are looking after our grand-daughter's chihuahua. peanut, this weekend.
ge + Robert E. .....
peri: the mags might not have any legs. comic books -- there are comic book stores all over the place -- is there one near you?
ty Molly, I was looking in the wrong direction again
I think there is. Gwen
really about the Mags. I have been holding on to them for a long time :(
maybe the Moore College of Art or one of the other schools might be interested. I should contact them
most comic book stores will buy old comics. if you want top dollar, however, ebay might be better (i hate to send youto ebay but it is a venue everyone's heard of, so you don't have to worry about finding potential buyers)
Jaxx - I'm out of touch .... What op is scheduled?
Jaxx - I'm out of touch .... What op is scheduled?
Sorry for double post..
most mags have a shelf life or 1 to 6 months. old ones usually have no value. there are always exceptions, however.
Gwen I saw other sites on line that buy comic books but I have never heard of them
if they are in very good condition, and have lots of very good quality illustrations or photos, your odds g o up
peri. My husband had a load of Hunting magazines from the 1950s and they sold very well. I think, with the nostalgia thing going on at the moment, your fashion mags would be of interest to both costume designers and historians.
they are in very good condition and show fashions from those days.
you won't be able to sell your stuff online without images and detailed descriptions. if you are in a hurry, better to take them in person to a comic store
thanks gwen and jaxx
as for hunting, that topic is almost always a good seller
where did you sell them, jaxx
someone needs to do a fashion magazine for hunters LOL
phantom bowel
Soodle, the op on my thyroid and parathyroid glands. The hospital lost my test results and I had to go thru' all the tests again. They are going to remove my knobbly thyroid, or half of it, and the parathyroids on the left side.
hope you have a smooth op and get better fast, jaxx
re 6, please?
re6 sounds like baby eagle Nan
We had a stall at a local car boot and the dealers go around before the sale opens. He had some demure girlie mags from the same era which, you understand, he bought for the stories not the girls. They were bought by the same dealer. Local newspapers will point you in the right direction.
ty molly
I will check that out, jaxx, ty
local car boot = flea market (translating for americans)
ty gwen
Good to do Gwen. Car boot makes no sense to those of us in these united states.
8-D
well, i'm off to scrounge up some food. later, buds
A flea market is something completely different here. A car boot sale is a collection of cars with people selling things literally out of their car boots (trunks, I believe to you)
*!* ta da *!*
Brilliant, nan
Same thing. People selling their used items in a public forum. Whether out of their cars, or on a table.
heronry
we don't have boot sales here -- we do have flea markets where you must rent a table or booth. More common are garage or yard sales.
the forest of garage sale signs goes up every FRiday night during the summer
th5 pls
Flea markets are usually indoor markets selling antiques and all things secondhand.
we have parking lot flea markets in some areas
Yeah Nan, they are mostly outdoors here too.
we have indoor and outdoor flea markets and lots of garage and yard sales
th5 ends in the first two of those garden figures that have red hats
I suspect that our carboots and your outdoor flea markets are much the same thing.
th 5 begins with definite article and ends with 2 consonants -- don't know how else to clue it
ah -- molly did!
Like I said, whatever you call it, it's people selling their used/second hand items
ty Molly and nan
A step up from Jumble sales and better organised.
celebrating early are you, molly?
Needed sharp elbows for jumble sales!
I love Independence Day. I celebrate for weeks.
watch the tea stains on that white shirt!
must be off -- kids are back tomorrow, so need to do some organizing. Back at the flip...
i have a fondness for mid century linens and hand embroidered goods. prices have soared though.
To me, Independence Day is the most patriotic day in our country. And the one that we fought for the hardest. No tea stains on my shirt. I would have been tossing the tea overboard in Boston with my ancestors.
<--would have kept the earl grey tea
Always one to please
well.. it would have just gone to waste
although in Boston it'd be OIl Grey
Hello again
I shall send your regards to my fine city

Thanks so much, penquis.

yw...
Is that the european money, pen?
money from Zambia....the weirdest word in the grid today....
OK
the two letters are the ones at the start of the money word....two consonants...
OR....definite article + first two letters of lawn ornament of a dwarfy looking guy.....
Have it now, thanks again, penquis. First time I've finished a grid in a while.
congrats!
See you all at the flip.
WTG peach!!! YAY!! And hello to everyone here
(((Nef)))
Hi stid. How are you today?
not bad. Tired... it's hot and sunny for about the 900th day in a row. Or so it seems. Want to do out into the garden but it's still very much above 90 outside.
Just checked the home weather station. Above 100 actually...
I'm eating a salad & then have to go out & pick berries. I've been running all day -- or actually Driving all day again. (I feel like the car is becoming part of me) :-(
OH MY!!!
And I thought it's been hot here! (80's plus high humidity; although today wasn't too bad)
salad sounds good!
It is good; I have butter lettuce & romaine, red & yellow sweet peppers, zucchini, sweet peas, mushrooms, green onions, & whatever else I could find in the frig.
oh, and some turkey ham & string cheese as the protien
hi nef, stid....
We've been eating lots of salads; we signed up for CSA (community shared agriculture) & also made the mistake of going to the farmer's market last week before we got our bushel share of veggies from CSA.
(I'll have to stay away from the Farmers Market for now)
Hi pen
How are you doing today?
hi nef
Hi TO, how are you today?
ok here....how about you?
fine (just feeling a bit too talkative for the chog tonight!) ;-)
i am fine. going to do a bit of cleaning then sleep.
Ahh! You could come clean my place TO! :-) (I need to go out & pick berries soon)
lept
oops! sorry
And; now that I've found 30 words while eating my salad; it's time for me to go pick berries! Happy Babbling! (I'll be back later if I'm lucky)
bye nef...
bly5/20 anybody?
nm found it - tx rururocks and all cluers - that's firewords
sorry nef, I got called away...
hey all
and YAY dan!
hey stid. How hot is it where you are? I am melting
hey bugs -- inside it's about 82, outside still well above 90 here.
same here. It is too much. I would never last in a desert
hey everyone....hubby said 96 in the shade at our house just 3 hrs ago
I feel the same, although deserts are usually dry -- the humidity is what makes me melt! LOL
hey mcurl --
howdy stild
OMG mccurl! we don't have a thermometer outside for that very reason...
I try not to listen!
good thing we are not in Ontario and other places where the humidity is oppressive. It feels like you are swimming thru the air
Bugs are we still looking at next Tuesday? And if so, do you think you'd be up for a mini-meetup on Wednesday with mcurl?
I'm heading to burlington vermont in just a few weeks, hoping it cools off a bit!
:-) It should be lovely there that time of year, mcurl!
I'll be doing a lot of unpacking but hope to throw in some signtseeing as well.
I am still hopeful stid. The computer sites say that all I have to have is my enhanced drivers licence but the government recommends a passport. I figure if I have my current licence and my out of date by a couple of months I should be good.
I am definately up for a visit with mccurl
Okay, will keep figners crossed! :-)
Yippeee!
Mcurl -- if clutter (and the lingering smell of soot) wouldn't bother you, you could come to my place for tea/lemonade and cookies?
sounds perfect
Government agencies up here don't like answering the phone and it probably depends on the US customs guys anyways. Depending on who is on duty the day I go through I will either be turned around or let thru. I am planning on let thru.
I don't think I look too threatening
I got a passport card that I keep in a handy place (handier than the actual passport) for any time I have the urge to refill at Murchee
dumb figners...
I don't have to "teen-sit" any more since Carm's last day of work was yesterday but I do plan to help her with a sewing project before she leaves
They'll let you through. The lords and ladies of the garden know how much I need you here!
Do you need me to bring some Murchies with me? If so, say what you want
She always has such fun projects -- if a bit involved!
I have to think about it, bugs... I really want to have an excuse to get Tom up there! LOL
It has to be small cuz all her "stuff" is gone! Just a skirt she wants done....think I can handle it.
I understand that our version of a passport card is the updated terrorist approved drivers license
:-D
remind me with an "I told you so" when I complain about how overly particular she can be HAHAHA
Ah -- I am glad I don't travel much. Just to see you, my last few relatives from the grandparents' generation, and ... Nope. That's all so far. I don't like to travel.
I am not a big traveller but I like to see old friends and new things so, every once in while, I travel.
Tom is mucking out his office ... it's supposed to be the designated guest room, but it was filled with boxes, too! Considering I had only unpacked the last boxes from the previous move a year or so before the fire, I am not overly optimistic to think that I will be "all done" this summer! LOL
But I WILL have an office I can sit in again by the end of all of this, and I will NOT have over 100 boxes of unknown materials in the garage! *determined mama look*
In this heat I might just choose to sleep outside on the back porch. Please don't go to any throuble for me. I could also stay at the hotel on the reserve again.
And you should see the classroom, bugs and mcurl! I am making so much progress weeding out and organizing so far. Almost to the point where I can let it rest while they clean the floors and come back in August to do the last organizing and arranging.
good job stid
NO. no trouble at all! You are the purpose to get things pulled together! :-) Please come and stay -- it's not luxury, but it's good enough for family (which you are). I don't have to impress or pretend to be something I am not with you.
Is there anything I can bring for your classroom, stid? I bunged out a lot of stuff for little kids earlier this spring. I should have thought of you....
absolutely. I would so much rather be family than a guest
oh gee -- something small that is from Canada would make the class feel very special. So far I am assigned fewer than 25. If you wanted to bring a bookmark or sticker for each? They would be SO excited to know a friend of mine from a far-away place was thinking about them.
I can do that so easily. What about a puzzle? Do you let them go to work on a puzzle when they have finished their work? It is a good community activity that encourages cooperation and practicing social skills while improving small motor skills without anyone knowing that they are not just having a break from work.... My kind of teaching. Subtle
:-) Some kids like puzzles at this age, others not so much. They are great rainy-day activities though so if you have one you want to donate, thanks! Otherwise, we have lots of materials right now.
ro5/16, please?
I was going to say that this year's class LOVED one of Vicuna's books that I read to them at the end of the year. Had been hoping to do a virtual author's visit, but didn't finish until the last day!
Like a russian coin, Marc
It means a lot to the kids to have the wider world brought in.
virtual author visit whould be so much fun
I am sorry I am looking for re5/16, please?
:-) This coming year I will talk with her a LOT sooner and have my "ducks lined up" in time to get all the tech arranged. If she's still willing to try it.
to put a wooden dowel in again, marc
anyway, tom is making lots of noise so I should go investigate. Bugs, I am home all day tomorrow if you want I can call you at a preset time?
any time tomorrow, I think. I have to make phone calls to tie up loose ends
Mcurl, I am thinking that around 1:30 or 2 might be a good time to visit? The temps should be a bit cooler next week, and if we get together early enough we can easily enjoy some time before the house warms up too much.
okay, I will call probably early afternoon. ((hugs)) See you-all again soon! *poof*
hugs to everyone here, even the lurkers
sorry need new clue for re5/16, please? Didn't understand the last clue.

Guitarist Adrian Belew made it into the grid.
should we write and let him know he has been honoured? :D
I heard him perform in concert as part of King Crimson in 1982. The concert started to the opening of "Waiting Man" from the album "Beat."
where did you see that? sounds like it would have been a good concert, though |I'm not that familliar with King Crimson...
