Hi and hugs Rose
hi and {{hugs}} lizgirl.
am doing good sweety! how you going?
Hi also mrp
Hi liz :)
liz, mrp is a long time player who has been very busy. mrp, please let me introduce you to liz
I've met mrp - a while ago
But thanks anyway for the thought
BBL - time to head out to the gym
oh good. she and i met up ages ago. too long to say.. lolll
yes, with Andree. It really was a long time ago!
lots of water under the bridge, sweetie. do you still have the same mobile number?
Yes I do.
are you home tonight?
I will be home about 7. give me a call?
you can count on it. xoxox
Looking forward to it!
hello prezzie
ruru!!! (((hugs)))
nice to have you back for a bit
nice to see ya old mate!
life is treating you well I hope
hi mrpresident!~!.. nice to see you... are you ok??
*coming up for air --- hi mrp
sorry, was called away for a moment. All is good thanks :)
Hi nan :))
i really must remember to type brb when I leave the keyboard for a bit. sorry
do you still have any of the kids with you or are they all grown up now?
mrp, long time no see :)
Hi seain! ((hugs)) !
I have both kids yes... they are just finishing up senior school. Time has flown!
wow
It is an important couple of years for them... need the good marks to get into Uni
good luck with that
i must off to sleep. Got a lot done today, including annual auto safety inspection and a lovely happy hour with bunch of peeps from high school.
happy babbling, yall!
yeah thanks! LOL!! drama with the daughter keeps me on my toes!
see ya dcs :)

en8
nbt, nbs and crashing -- good night all
night nan too
have you ever beens to GReece, ru?
no.. not me.. my brother has many times
my mom has a lot of family there
there are a bunch of Taxi companies offering tours of Athens - was looking for a recommendation
oh.. what a time to go when they're in economic crisis
tael
oops - sorry
not going until Sept. - hopefully they will have things sorted out by then
god I hope so
sounds like a total mess right now
Just hope they stay onthe euro -- makes things so much easier for tourists
guess they have 2 choices --- cut services or start paying taxes!
* or maybe both
I'm not up on what is going on.. but it sure sounds worrysome
worrisome
I gather most of the populace has elevated tax evasion to fine art and the government has been trying to run with nowhere near enough resources for far too long
ah.. I should read up on it
off to bed - see you tomorrow
night now
that's a wrap
oh my god, I am awake for the flip!!! Can't remember the last time that happened!
hi trif
hey dorens.
can
can
can't sleep?
whoops, sorry
Hello trif.. u are up late
Valentine keeping you up?
hello ruru...just in from a FABULOUS night - a local dance place did a retro disco sort of night - people were all dressed up with some really good disco era outfits, big fro wigs, and all.....it was so fun
and yes, valentine was there :)
disco is not my favorite era - by far - but for one night it was fun to do it up
I didn't care for disco either
funny how a good 30 years or so of remove can make the heart grow fonder
the DJ did a really good job - some great old funky favorites that everyone loves to dance to thrown in, not too much "disco" disco
and when I got home, secondo had arrived back from Vermont, with her college beau in tow, who I had not met yet - very, very nice guy!!!
If i never hear a donna summer song again...that will be too soon
Oh nice.. did you grill him?
lightly. he seems very nice
I was quite nervous, actually
Why was that?
wanted to make a good impression
Ah. Just be yourself
when I get nervous I talk too much....horrible habbit
*habit
valentine will meet him tomorrow, at a late lunch....hope that goes well
That should calm hou xown
You down
hope so. this is her first really serious, non-hometown BF...it's a huge deal for her, and I want to take it seriously
Calling it a nite. Have a great holiday trif
da
good morning all
Kia ora sprites
Kia ora Kiwi! *hugs*
{{hugs}} and good morning dearest sprite.
Geeze spell check u suck
g'day kiwi. xoxox
*hugs rose* Good evening dear friend! How was your day?
lol spell checks are notorious
Hi rose hugs back to you both
today was good. pain levels still way down. out for lunch with don.
oh I am so glad, rose. So good that the infusion is giving you relief.
howwas your night sprite? how is the body beautiful today?
we met the 'in-laws' yesterday evening. The parents of Tim's girlfriend had invited us for a BBQ on the girl's birthday. It was very tasty and pleasant. And now I hurt allover from sitting wrong :( Slept well though!
ugh on sitting wrong. that so awful. are the 'in-laws' nice people?
yeah, very nice people. It was pretty relaxed for a first meeting.
moving to the Netherlands. i want to be paid to sit at home... lolll
as I am, you mean? Took quite some doing and rather serious handicaps.
it's on the news tonight. people are being paid to not work.
in what context?
i just heard it briefly. i thought that was th gist of it.
so kiwi. what did you get up to today?
Hi and hugs rose and sprite.
well I don't know, cannot seem to find it. People who become unemployed through no fault of their own get a temporary benefit, provided they hunt actively for jobs. And people with serious handicaps that make them unemployable get an invalidity benefit.
hi and {{hugs}} liz
hi Liz *hugs* How are the two of you and how are the whales? And (dare I ask) the fence?
Today was not a good day at work I got a verbal reprimand for standing up for something I didn't like had been done so I took the avo off lol
Fine. Wonderful. Getting there!
gooooood Liz :)
Me being concise!
will watch the news in a couple of hours. report will be more comprehensive.
aw Kiwi :( That is so unfair. Good for you to take the rest of the day off.
Curled up in bed and found a meryl Streep movie I'd not seen before and watched it til I went off to the bowling club for dinner
good on you kiwi.
nice going, Kiwi. Feeling better now?
A couple of bourbons and a roast lamb dinner was good enough to calm me
yum!! roast lamb, new zealand style. i am drooling something terrible.
same here
Hey Sprite. It's so hard to believe that in a couple of days it'll be a year since our wonderful day together.
I found photos today rose of your trip

Opps

My first word
That's one of the 8s as well if u expand it lol
mine was al6. Don't know why that jumped out at me. Maybe because I always think it is a girl's name.
sprite, mrp was here earlier. i am going to call her in about an hour.
Pooh! Don't have that.
That's cause it is lol
Do now :)
but it must be something else too, without a capital, or it wouldn't be valid
Tell her I said hi rose that might shock her
rose, 'here' as in near you, or 'here' as in babble?
here as in babble
ah ok
okay kiwi
When I said I met mrp, rose, I meant on babble.
al6, is a plant
a kind of heather maybe?
like a hollyhock
*looks up hollyhock*
pretty!
liz, don and i met mrp when we were going on our first cruise.
I remember you telling me, when we met.

You've met quite a few babble peeps.

Thanks, stats would have been enough though :)
Could I have the stats for the bottom A please

Hell everyone and welcome to the non Fourth of July

you guys, you have to check out this video that the world wildlife fund made, they put a camera on the back of a sea turtle for a couple of minutes. it is sooooo relaxing.
if you just google wwf sea turtle video it should come up on several sites
ok, will check it out
Aussies are in winter and we're enjoying a summer day. So disorienting
Hi peri, hurshy, crossy, lynx, Annie and to all a happy 4th of July and Canada Day
Did they do that on tortoise?
hi bichon
Only if they iguana
That is an amazing video Hursh. Thanks for the heads up.
yw :)
Molly is shell-shocked
i would play the pun game but it's too early, my brain isn't working well enough to think of any
Just taking a peek at the temps round my brothers place in Henderson. going to be 109F this afternoon! Poor bugger!
It is just not manta be yet hursh
Yes they did it on tortoise because there are some right maroons here 'threatening' to allow development which will jeapodize the Great Barrier Reef - but it will be good for the economy (!)
i hope they do not get to do that lynxxx!
hurshy, I just watched the video...just amazing
there are various versions of the vid, the first i saw was only 30 seconds, but then the longer versions have less relaxing parts. so this is how much i love that video - i downloaded the longer on, downloaded an app that let me edit it in quicktime, cut it to the 1.5 mins of relaxing part, and have it running on a loop to the side of my babble window.
there's only one other vid i watch on a loop like that, and that's bub's yule log
I haven't been to the Great Barrier Reef but have flown over it quite a few times...even that is breathtaking...the water looks like vibrant turquoise
i have heard that it is already quite messed up from human activity, lynxxx, and very in danger
like i believe i read something about... coral dying or... something
Most definitely hurshy
so awful
increase in water temps can bleach.. I imagine a lot of corals around the world maybe being effected. But in our case there is a proposal for Adani (in Indian company with an extremely bad reputation) to mine and export coal from nearby the reef. Much protest here and worldwide.
:(
The Web is a wonderful thing - at least everyone pretty quickly knows what is going on and can protest loud and clear. There is even a party of the traditional landowners traipsing around the world to all the financial institutions and like to protest. Our federal government appears to be staying well away from getting involved. This is a State decision - Queensland
well i have got the two left columns grey
i have only 1 7 (ra) and no 8s. :( any helps?

Howdilly doo, neighborinos!
Oh look, it's our little firecracker
Killing some time before I have to take the cat for a check up and a few shots.
Help me settle a bet...what does Mr Judi call what he wears to the pool? A bathing suit, or swimming trunks?
Swim trunks.
Bathing suits are for chicks.
uh5, please?
thought mr. judi would be more of a commando type guy
To the beach?? Hell no. And speedos would be grounds for instant divorce.
thanks found it
Mr. Judi's name is Scott, by the way.
mr. Judi is more fun
Crap. No help there. Big debate at a neighborhood get together last night. My group said only old geezers call them swimming trunks.
Nah. I suppose I've also heard them called board shorts or swim shorts.
*guess I better start calling them swimming trunks*
What were you callilng them, Molly?
You are far from an old geezer Ru.
I've always used the term "bathing suit" for male for female attire.
Ru's just a geezer in training.
*looks down at trainer wheels*
what does Caitlyn Jenner call a swim suit then?
Camouflage
LOL
I think BruCaitlyn would have an embarrassing bulge in her swimming attire
yeah... that'd be a little odd around the pool I would guess
LOL!
As a friend of mine says, she's not Caitlyn until he/she gets it lopped off.
Yep. HE's just a transvestite until the surgery makes it final.
I think he's not planning too.. he's doing the confused transgender thing and wants to be a lesbian
he's not planning to take it off
Oh, poor him. Lesbians don't like his equipment
'm just depressed he has better hair than me. SIgh.
Hi Mag, long time no see
he's really messed up.. but anyone living with those insane Kardashians would likely lose their marbles
Supposedly, one has to go through a year of psych counseling before being allowed to have the surgery of no return.
Maybe he's just out for a test drive with "the look".
Off to wrangle the cat into the carrier. Hopefully no blood will be spilled. Wish me luck.
oh good luck there judi..
ra5/12, please?
ra 5 rhymes with dance
thanks got it
*Calls foul on Ru for insanely easy clue
Hi all! Yes, it's been a loooong time since I've played. I'm back to it now.
Nice to see you back Mag. You have been missed.

Better to be an awesome punner than a vacant worshiper of the unintelligent
I've seen that before; you're d'naan
Sodas what the chat's about?
Soda? Soda bread?... Looking for Molly's lead balloon window....
Yeah, Ginger's ale-ing
I'm so conflicted about soda bread. I make it every St. Patrick's Day. And I know I'm supposed to like it. But unless it's drowned in honey and butter, it's not my thing.
Dough'nt go there, Java....
<---glazed look
Soda bread was invented by the angels, Molly. Slathered with Kerrygold butter, there's no more comforting food on Earth.
with or without currants?
My Irish grandmother's recipe calls for golden raisins.
I've made it both ways and am not sure which I prefer
I'm not conflicted at all about tea. I hate it. It tastes like warm piss. (All my Irish ancestors can roll over now)
Soda bread does not have currants. Curranty bread has currants. Molly - Raisins??? Really???
having not been a connoisseur of piss.. I'll have to take your word for it Molly
lol
Never having tasted warm piss, I'll bow to Molly's superior knowledge.
Correction: I can't drink hot tea because it smells like warm piss. Never had the occasion to drink piss.
No baking soda in my Grandmother's soda bread either. Sour cream. It's the best version of soda bread I've had, but I still don't get the fascination.
Buttermilk is the essential ingredient in Soda bread, Molls.
I've got an old recipe from Fleischmann that calls for caraway seed, baking soda, buttermilk, and dark seedless raisins. (and yeast, of course)
Caraway seeds...blech
And no yeast in soda bread, It is a non-yeast bread.
I kinda like soda bread
No carbohydrates for you, svelte boy
blimey
I knew after all that time in Canada you were going to go Brit
He who shall now be known as Rou Rou
my good friend is Irish and makes soda bread for certain dinners.. it's nice and mild and good
(sorry, got called away). Since the recipe I have is from Fleischmann's YEAST, it would include yeast. I think I have another old recipe that's more traditional.
My Grandmother made the best soda bread. Weighing scales were unheard of in her day - it was a handful of this, a splash of that, a pinch of the other. Her soda bread was to die for.
Those are the best recipes. I can bake pretty well and I have never used a "weighing scale".
I've "got" my grandmother's recipe for home-made noodles: one egg and a half egg-shell of flour. Soodle, do you have her recipe?
You're kidding, right, Java? Until the turn of the century (20th to 21st) - meals here consisted of potatoes, meat & 2 veg! Noodles were unheard of.
I think she meant your grandmother's recipe for soda bread
To this day, my Dad refers to Spaghetti Bolognese as Spaghetti Bollock Naked!
You're right, Molly
(sorry; I'm back and forth trying to make dinner reservations)
Oops! Sorry! I don't think Grandma even used half egg shells as a measure. It was just what fitted into her hand.
Sorry if this sounds corny, but as a child, I used to go out to her yard & collect new-laid eggs, take them into the farnhouse kitchen, where she would boil them & serve them up with soda bread & a big dollop of butter. Far from internet & Babble & worries, those days. I'm smiling to myself as I remember them.
I am in such awe of the women we get our recipes from. They were the trail blazers who tried and failed and tried again until they got it right.
I'm all in on newly laid
*Puts on cornball music as a background for Soodle's story
And these were women without washing machines, driers or microwaves, Molly. Incredible, really.
It is incredible. I have the utmost respect for the women who came before me.
There was an old cock-a-doodle-doo in my Grandma's yard Ru, who used to strut about with all the hens clucking about him!!! Only saying..... Lol :-)
And then, after the exhausting day of washing clothes by hand, hanging them out to dry and feeding a family on a wood burning stove, those women were expected to be all ready to service their husbands.
ah .. the good old days
I'm in on service too
I could skip the microwave
I knew only one of my grandmothers, and she was a talented seamstress. My mom told the story of wanting a particular suit for Easter one year. It was a "walking suit" and had a fur collar. My grandma went to the store where it was on display, looked it over, and went home to make a duplicate. My mom even got the fur for the collar some place and grandma attached that, too. I can sew, but only with patterns.
(oh yeah, this was in New York City) And yes, I'm in awe of those women.
hi, all...in the endeavor to improve my vowel vocab, could I get some clues for the left corner A and second column A?
Oh thank you Java. I forgot to add all the sewing and mending and other such things women in those times had to do in the course of their day.
I am lucky enough to have known my paternal Great Grandmother as well as my paternal Grandmother. My Grandmother gave birth to 15 kids - my Dad being the eldest.
bottom a relates to a Baldwin Brother
corner a starts with AL and part of a cinema
top a is a feminine name: A----- Gibson
You are lucky Soodle. I only knew one of my grandparents and none of my great grandparents. I wish I could have had that experience.
15 kids is outrageous
15 kids comes from all that servicing
:D
Remember, we are talking about Irish Catholics
no fertility issues at chez soodle
I agree Ru, 15 kids is a litter. Not a family. But thats the way it was back then. And, by & large, they all did pretty well!
Yes, Soodle, you are blessed to have known them. Like Molly, I only knew the one. 2 died before I was born and the other grandfather, 2 weeks after I was born.
I knew my grandparents
I wish my grandmother was still alive though
I hear people talk about their fond memories with their grandparents and I am envious. The grandmother I knew was too elderly to really be a grandma by the time I was born.
As I get older, I find myself wishing I had known them all, and paid more attention to the one I had.
You get a lot of wisdom from the elders.
a huge influence in my life from my Father's mother
My Great Grandma passed away 3 weeks before her 100th birthday. Away with the fairies - as Alzheimers was known as in those days, but a charming old dear!
And, that's why I'm trying to be a good grandma to my grandchildren! They are all delightful in their own ways. Now that I'm retired, perhaps I can be there more often.
"Away with the fairies" - that sounds better than "Alzheimers".
You are lucky Java. I would love to be a Grandma...or GranMolly...but no luck so far. I hear women my age say that becoming a Grandma sounds repulsive. Me...I can't wait.
Java, Molly , Ii'm really looking forward to Grand-kids . ... Now would be good. Soodle-kids- take note!
Is it weird to be eagerly anticipating grand-kids when one's parents are still very much on the scene & demanding of one's time?
I wish I had had my grandchildren first to be honest.
Lol, Jaxx!!
Don't you find that the relationship with grandparents is so much more relaxed these days.
Soodle, that would make you one of the "sandwich" folks.
Jaxx, change your Babble-name to Benjamin Button!
Grandchildren are your reward for not having strangled your teenagers.
very true and now my daughter is 37 I still find myself wanting to strangle her.
Whoosh, Java! I sure am a sandwiched person. I love my parents to bits. I love my kids to bits. It gets a bit tricky to cater to all needs, though.
My older son is dad to all 5 of our grandchildren. twin boys (14+) by his first wife and two girls (8 and 6 ish) by his second. They are in the process of adopting an 8 year old boy who came into their lives. My DIL takes in strays, whether 4 legged or 2 legged (grin)
She seems like a nice person, Java. That's good.
All I remember of my g grandmother was this fiercesome old woman who sat in the corner of my grandmother's sitting room, gloweering at us all.
She is. She has a heart the size of all outdoors.
glowering even
Jaxx, I feel sorry for her. I wonder what her trouble was.
God, Java. I just re-read your post.... TWO 14 yr old boys???? Yikes!
She was of the Victorian era where children were seen and not heard.
Yup. And they still give their grandparents hugs in public - in front of their friends. They are wonderful kids.
People who believed that about children missed out on so much joy and laughter.
That's a pity, Jaxx. My grandmother was a big, soft, beautiful woman. She was the ideal 'Grandma'. I still miss her.
It was just how it was then. My grandmother was very much the matriarch and we all did what she told us. No hugs in public there
Well, Java, 14 yr old lads wouldn't be hugging grandparents in public unless they loved them very very much. Huge compliment to you! :-)
Very true, soodle.
Pity. The picture I have of my other grandmother (the one who died 4 months before I was born) shows a woman who did not have a joyful life. Down-turned mouth, mean expression over all. And she died by her own hand, so I think she was pretty miserable.
Thanks, Soodle. They do call me their "cool" grandma - I find t-shirts with funny comments / pictures that they love. They have great senses of humor.
*and Jaxx
My paternal grandmother was in love with her husband's brother but he preferred her sister and he married her. It made my graany very sour faced and her marriage was none too great either.
Sad story, Java. I'm sorry your Grandmother didn't have more joy in her life.
granny.
Just on the subject of Grandmas - if you have a spare 15 minutes, I recommend that you read a short story by Frank O Connor called First Confession.
Wait, Jaxx. Two brothers and two sisters married to the others?
two brothers married two sisters.
not unheard of, Jaxx.
my father was named after his uncle instead of his father which was the family tradition going back 5 generations
Thank you for the short story recommendation Soodle. There are so many other recommendations here that turn out to be...um...blah...
Story noted. I only learned of that suicide just before my mom died. She casually mentioned it one day. Blew me away.
Wow, I can't imagine "casually" mentioning suicide.
Jaxx, Methinks there are many family stories like that in most of our histories. People didn't talk about those sorts of things and kept secrets way more than we do now (where everything is posted on social media).
Have you ever tried to find your ancestors, java? I find it totally fascinating. Don't just stick to the pedigree line but explore the family. Thai is where you find the black sheep.
We were talking about the year I was born and she said "well, that was when your grandmother committed suicide". And I was stunned.
My Dad's eyesight is failing, so I downloaded a few of his favourite books to read to him. I read 'A First Confession' to him this afternoon, the Nursing Home staff thought he was after having a heart attack when they heard the chortling coming from his room.
My typing is pants tonigjt. I am listening to Wimbledon at the same time.
Java, I think there has to be a happy medium. In between not talking about important things and blasting them all over the internet.
See! that should be tonight
Soodle, you are such a good daughter to read to your Dad. He is blessed to have you being there for him.
My niece-in-law has done considerable research into our ancestors. She discovered one who came over here on the Mayflower as an indentured servant. My plan is to write a narrative around that, but first I have to research what it was like to be an indentured servant in the 1600's.
Only here for a minute as am still sick but had to comment. I was lucky to be raised by my paternal grandmother and her 4th husband and was treated like a princess by both. I wish I had gotten to know her better but she died when I was 21 and too young to ask the questions I would ask today. I do know she was both in 1897, married 4 times, ran a boarding house, drove a taxicab and bootlegged on the Ohio River. Women just didn't do those things back then but she DID. Also, her 4th husband was 20 years younger than her. Quite a woman.
Molly, yes there is. And I think it has something to do with restraint and privacy.
Mimi, I wish I knew her, too!
Hi, Mimi. Sorry to hear you aren't well. It seems to me there is a book in there somewhere about your grandmother.
Mimi - that's a pedigree to be peoud of!!!
...proud...
Thanks, java. Very unique women on both sides of my family so I can't help being a little odd myself! I also know my great-great-grandmother on the maternal side had a baby 10 yrs. after her husband died and swore it was the longest pregnancy in history....we don't know who the father was.
See, it's catching
Yes, jaxx, her story is included in my book as well as many other stories of relatives. That's why it's taking so long to write it....LOTS of material.
Gosh - Ladies ..... I'd say that each of our forebears have stories worth telling.
Not really. For Soodle it's just that second bottle of wine being cracked open. : D
Oh, Mimi, I love it! And we think all those people were so pure and not like people are today...
Make it into a trilogy.
Write it all down. Future generations will thank you for it.
Make it into a 10 part trilogy!!!
My grandchildren will certainly know who I am and was as it will all be documented. I plan to be the cool granny, too!
I suspect the reverse is true as life was so hard that folks did what they had to do.
Wonderful! Carry on that tradition.
Mimi, get it archived somewhere so genealogy fans like me will be able to read it.
Yes, Jaxx, and they took comfort where and when they could.
I would like to propose a toast to the Mothers, the Grandmothers & the Great Grandmothers of all Babblers. Bless you, one & all! Clink!!
Unfortunately, my biological father (I was raised with him as my brother) had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Very thankful my daddy raised me instead as he just adored me even though we weren't biologically related. I had an angel on my shoulder to be rescued from my bio parents. Part of the problem was I didn't even know I was related to my mother/grandmother until after she died. Actually, I am my own sister and my own aunt.
Don't we all do what we have to do? It varies from age to age and changes with what's available in terms of advantages, CLINK!
*Thinks maybe that is the third bottle of wine for Soodle
I have a friend whose grandmother walked from Russia to America after the Russian revolution. her daughter was one of the first pioneers and built a turf (sod) house so she didn't lose the land she had been granted. She sent letters home and he has every one of them. A fantastic archive. The irony is that the next generation are not interested.
Fabulous, jaxx. I'm constantly amazed by all the stories of courageous, gutsy women who pioneered that "turf" for the rest of us.
I also have a friend who's parents walked from Estonia across Europe because of WWII. She was born somewhere along the way. They all wound up in NYC, though.
Nope, Molly. Still on #1. But the night is young. :-p
I am trying to get him to get the manuscript archived as it is so rare for such a thing to survive. Your story would come under the same heading.
Great discussion but I"m fading fast so leaving now. Still really ill and no one seems to know why yet. Anyway, must lie down. Have a great night, everyone! Hugs.
I know I wasn't all that interested until I reached a "certain" age. I think it had to do with having children and then grandchildren and realizing the lineage from which we all came. And what will come.
Be well, Mimi - sleep is good.
Look after yourself, Mimi. You have a book to write. Seriously, take care. Sleep well
Finally made the dinner reservation, so I must be off, too. This has been a wonderful conversation (well, two or more, actually). Tomorrow, perhaps. Bye
gets a little tangled sometimes. Enjoy your dinner reservation. Bye, java
Bye, friends (((())))
Bye, soodle. Lots of hugs coming your way too. Sleep well.
((((((((Friends))))))))))
Are you going as well, Mollie? Take care of yourself.

a good time to sleep, Kate -- it has been over 100 here
hi saan! nice to see you!
you too! and thanks for the wave of cluing
I had seen in the chog that many are suffering unbearable heat, I hope you are coping okay.
Thanks to Leslie Ann for the great clues :) Now I must really pop off... it's been a long and stressful week/month
we are well, Kate, thanks -- should cool down again soon I hope. It has been a very dry, warm year. I worry about tomorrow and the next couple weeks while the idiots set off incendiaries, but otherwise should be okay. Sweet dreams, Kate.
the basement is my new home. It's too hot to walk to the beach, a five minute stroll. We are just not used to it. Neither are the plants or animals. We had three major crops - strawberries, raspberries and blueberries - matute 4 - 6 weeks early and all at once! I am terrified, living in the woods, of fire.
we are also too far ahead in crops, saanich. I completely missed the strawberry harvest. So no frozen or canned strawberries. Hoping to catch the raspberries this next week, and grab a few baskets of cherries for later, too.
lotf or work but worth it big-time! Shall we try to return the chog to normal? This is annoying

sweet dreams LA -- have a great weekend!
stid, is this the first summer for your complted house? Did the colours work?
The second summer, saanich - but the first one I have felt "home." The colors are lovely, need to touch up some of the outside, and I have some ideas to add a bit of color inside, but so far, so wonderful! I LOVE the doorknocker you gave us. It is perfecteroo for our entryway. As soon as I can, I will send you some pics.
Let me think...
good good, that sound wonderful! Will send emails shortly, thanks
Was trying to figure out how to change my icon to show you how lovely the blue and white is. But I cannot think straight yet, still 81 in the house.
Need to go turn on some fans... LOL
later...
oh, Tom is doing it for me. :-) He's pampering me because I put my hip out earlier.
ouchie, is it improving
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers!Way to go
Yes, I did it today and he was able to get it taken care of quickly. I actually do a lot better than I used to, but I am also learning to listen to my body when it tells me to slow down. ;-)
hello Min! welcome to the grid!
Hello stidmama! How are you? Came back to enter last 3.
stid, that will be the day that you slow down. hah.
I am not going to finish...
A's Accomplished! 2 left
I am finished! I have fireworks! en8/45 was my final word
YAY Min!!!!!!!!!!
Saanich, I uploaded what is probably a really big pic so you can see the overall front of the house.
Tom just built the little cement block bench for me last weekend.
If you click on my profile it will probably show.
stid thanks will look now
Min, are you done with regular school now and into summer school?
I'll be here off and on for next half hour to clue if needed
Yes, my last day of school was Friday, June 26th. Started summer school Monday,June 29th. No rest for the weary.
Wow. no kidding!
that is beautiful! It all works! Is tha a small closed-in porch or entrance-way? Got to renew passport for sure. Keep as cool as possible, cool hugs
We only had a couple kids opt in to summer school this summer. I never applied to fill the position, so my colleague gets to do it. :-) I am taking a few real weeks off!
What are you doing this summer? No summer school, right?
ra7/36 please?
Saanich, thanks -- the porch is open, we rarely have bug problems. I will try to put a few more pics up over the next week at the website.
We've been doing a lot of work on it.
An ra 7/36 word adds a consonant in beginning of ra 6/24
Is that the color of your house Stid, blue? I like that color
not following your clue, min . . .
yes, Min -- blue with white trim and a lovely slate gray for the gables and garage.
okay, going to change my icon back to something smaller. brb
Ra is like nadal's weapon of choice
Uneaixoise, add a cross in third place of the ra6/24 word
oohhhh thanks!
poor nadal -- things not going well, eh?
No kidding
thanks for that 7, Min!
I wish I could paint my house that color blue, but it would be too expensive!Hate the color of my house, light green
yw stidmama
Hi rururocks! How are you doing today? Welcome to chog
Well, we HAD to have a paint color... so I gave Tom my top five choices from several he liked and he picked his favorite from those.
hey ruru!
any hint for the A in the top left? haven't listed but WAY past halfway.
Quite breezy here suddenly.
al6 plant similar to hollyhocks . . . also woman's name
oh *facepalm* thanks Une! Love mallows!
want to plant some in the veggie garden next year (now that it is cleared out again)
Had a lovely pale rose-colored one down there years ago... when the boys were little.
yw :-)
Well, you and Tom made a good choice. I love that color!
Thanks again!
so charming, stiddy :-)
Well, down to 34 and eyes are tired. FINALLY have NBT and NBS so can call it "done".
