i've been debating baking cookies, but i should probably sleep soon. I'm to be at my mom's house at noon to help her sort out her medical bills.
that sounds daunting, dc
ty5 for nbt/nbs ..
NBT/NBS
it's a triggery task for her. It brings back dealing with everything around my father's death 29 years ago.
nbt nbs good night, stay safe in the flood watch seain!
you're a good man for going and helping her
i'm trying to convince her to sign up for Medicare Part B. That's an uphill battle. Part F if i can convince her, too.
Sleep well jane
g'night jane :)
she should have part b!
her health plan wants her to. But she may not qualify for B since she has full federal health benefits with her retirement.
ah
she was a fed employee?
seain, I know someone who did not have the Medicare Supplement--for one month. What can happen in a month, they said? Well, his share of the medical bills is $20,000. If they had the supplement they would have had NO share.
my dad was, but she was granted 66 and 2/3% of a base secret service officer's salary tax-free with full federal benefits for life.
Federal employees can still get part B. In fact my mom's policy requires it. I think her govt insurance might even pay the premium.
jane, she'll have maybe a total of 3-4k from 2 weeks in hospital and 6 weeks in rehab.
hm. I wonder if i need to talk to DC about that.
Secret Service retire under the DC Police and Firemen's Fund, which is a Federal program.
she has no eligibility until January, regardless. But getting the answers now will make that easier.

I think there should be a ye8 to go with that ye4/8

Good news everybody. My oncologist called to tell me that my cancer is treatable. We don't yet have all the biopsy results, but this is wonderful news.
Great to hear that ruby
withs
thank you
oops...but not a word
Ruby, what a wonderful thing to read first thing in the morning. You must be so relieved.
Molly, I'm sure your candles helped! Yes, it is a great gift. I was truly despondent yesterday. The doctor called after 8PM, if you can imagine!
Well, I'm glad all the good thoughts and prayers that went out for you from everyone were heard and answered.
I imagine I'll be in battle mode this summer, but I am so happy
You are a tough little cookie. I have no doubt that you'll win the battle.
Good morning everyone:) ((ruby)) I am glad you finally got some good news!
Thank you, Crossy, this has been a terrible month but I'm ALIVE!
see you later, folks
good morning all
aw, just missed ruby. Well, I just answered the email... *hugs*
Sprite...as you may have noticed I caught the great news from ruby
retic
it is great, isn't it. She emailed me with it and I think it is hopeful news.
oops again..this is why I don't chat
no dc.. i tried.. not valid :(
don't worry about it. It is the layout of the site that is responsible, not you.
Howdy, Sprite:)

There is a 60's- 70's protest singer in the grid. See is you can find him:)

"I am just a student sir, and I'd only like to learn, but it's hard to read from the rising smoke of the books that you like to burn.."
I am not sure, sprite:)
nothing jumps out at me :)
Phil Ochs

it was great news. have been out with june for lunch.
how was your night? has your pain settled at all?
Where have you been hiding on me, Rose? I have missed seeing you in the chog:)
that for sure, crossy, that for sure. An obstipatious riddle in a mysterious enigma in a wondrous conundrum, or something like that
lol
awww crossy. you have been snoozing away when i was here.
ah lovely! I trust you and Jane had a great time together. No ill after-effects?
yeah, pain is manageable. All good.
no ill effects. bought don a bottle of glen fiddich as his anniversary gift. seeing as he buys himself presents all year i have to resort to a gift as uninspired as alcohol.
alcohol is always a good choice, grin
lollll he quite pointedly put a card and a pretty box on my bedside table LAST night. when i commented he said it's thursday isn't it. i had to break the news that it was only wednesday and he was a tad early.
awwwww that is so sweet
at least he remembered.
yeah, that is the most important part
I am all excited, celebrating my birthday for the first time in ages. And imagine, lots of Tims friends are coming. Guess I must have done something well, grin

Good morning all, happy birthday sprite!

Hi Rose

sprite, you are most welcome. could you please send me a pic? i have to do a review on them.
Ws are always a party. So many combinations possible.

Happy Birthday, Sprite!!!!

Well, I don't have any L6s yet :)

Woof, woof, Bichon.
Now I can't think of a bunny noise
Wiggle your nose a lot.
Or chew on something. Or thump your hind foot.
Marco and Polo were checking out some bunnies this morning. But the bunnies just hopped off
Bunnies are prey animals so they are always on alert.
They have more to fear around my house from coyote and fox
And raptors swoop down and carry them away with talons.

phew - thank god that was not a re** word
down to 100 left and have NBT and NBS - guess it is time to get to work - have a great day everyone.
free clue - one of my fav disney movies = ch6 ch6 bang bang.
good morning dear friends
morning, Trif
its overcast today, and Im really happy - its easier to garden on overcast days
same weather here also, it is also drizzling
drizzle would be lovely! we are down a quart here for sure
no tutoring today
yes, just an hour later, to do some assessments. boy is quite lovely, really.
so, it won't be so bad, except for the money
so here's my fun news of the day: on a whim, I let my daughters talk me into an OUTRAGEOUS shade of red....quite a change! thank god that its summer, and I don't see as many people!
and I bet you look good. did Valentine see your hair yet?
nope.
and nope
hahaha
surprise, surprise!
its just hair. it fade
it will fade - sorry, not fully with the program yet. I gave up coffee for the summer, can you tell"
Yes!
oooooh, nbt was a snap today - tra la la
Do you really feel the effects of not having coffee?
not so much now, but woke with headaches the first couple of days.
Yes, I had headaches when I gave up caffeine. Now I have 2 cups in the morning.
phone, brb
im so nervous chogging now - what if all this time, I have unknowingly been one of the people driving everyone crazy?
Trif, You never drove me crazy. This was a place to unload stuff when you were having a ha4 time. Now you have flaming red hair...that's a good thing.
its a thing, for sure!!! lol. It surely will take some getting used to....think Kate Mulgrew on Orange is the new black....
Do I sound like Martha Stewart?
I never saw Orange is the new Black. Must turn it on one night.
I don't think so. Oh, one of my high school friends posts the most AMAZING transformations on FB - she takes absolute pieces of CRAP from other people crap and turns them into seriously adorable things....
I wish I had that gift
Me too.
she rescued a rusty, disgusting pair of garden chairs this week, and I can see they have great bones, but I wouldn't have looked at them twice. By next week they will be worthy of a museum
Does she sell the things she rescues and transforms?
im thinking the key is knowing when something really IS too far gone to save....I have tried a couple of these rescues, and they never really come together
no, she has this wicked adorable beach house that was left to her by her grandfather, and she is using the pieces to outfit it, slowly.
im quite sure patience is the other necessary ingredient. she works for HOURS with wire brushes, paints, etc....
It is pouring here but get windows closed.
ive "picked" some winners from the trash, for sure - in particular a very lovely mirror I have hanging in my living room, but I don't do much to them. Just use in what state I found them.
That's what I do to, Trif. Take them as I get them.
After 22 years in the same place, we spend out lives trying to get rid of stuff that has built up over time. Now we seek only to reclaim space:(
our*
hi crossy, and good morning bea!
Howdy, trif.
I have been doing that too, crossy, or trying to replace things with better quality ones, as I can. My dining room table is the bane of my existence.
Morning all.
sadly it means driving by all those flea markets, antoque shops and yard sales. My rule of thumb now is that for every one thing that comes into the pace, two must go:)
I have that same rule, crossy! wow
place.. My fingers are rebellious today:(
I have been in purge mode. I have hauled so much stuff out of the house.
crossy, I have been following the chog conversation on FB, and I want to publically apologize if I have ever been too negative or less than a productive presence on here. I feel AWFUL, and terribly embarrassed.
good for you, bea! please, for the love of all that is holy, don't give me your address!!! lololol
Good morning, all!
good morning judi - cute icon!
It is tough, Even though a thing may have not been used or moved from its storage spot in years, it is still hard to let go. I must judge everything on its ascetic beauty, usefulness, its history or memories, if any, that are attached to it, consult with the mrs. and reach a unified agreement. then, and only then can a bit of extra, unneeded decor be purged.
hello everyone! what in the world is going on?
in which part of the world, TO?
:-} THanks, Trif!
um...in babble chat?
Trif, you most certainly never need to apologize to me. You are a Babble jewel. If I said anything to indicate otherwise then it is I that am ashamed and embarrased!
I tend to unload, though crossy, and certainly this might not be the appropriate place to do that.
Where has all this controversy been happening?
And hello
hi ruby
I am king of holding forth,Trif. You have nothing to apologize for, ever.
I've been so self-absorbed I haven't noticed anything
Hi, Ruby!
This is the most supportive and wonderful place!!!!
mostly on FB - a conversation developed over how the chog has taken on a more negative tone lately, and I felt quite convicted, as I tend to whine a bit. making an effort to be more positive, which is nicer for everyone, of course. And a good lesson for me!!!
I can speak for all here i am sure, when i say you are a please to talk with in here, and babble is often a lesser place without you.
Hello ruby, Judi, crossy, TO and Trif
Howdy, Bichon
I'm surely the whine queen!
morning bichon
pleasure*
Babble: The cheapest psycho-analysis available in the world.
on the babble page?
But no more whing from me, I am just so grateful to be alive to fight another day!
thanks crossy.....really though, it was a good lesson for me. I need to reminded of it, again and again through my life. Filters are GOOD. it is not necessary to express every emotion I am having every time I have one. :)
(that was a portmanteau word combining whining and whinging)
ruby - "portmanteau" always makes me chuckle. It should be a shorter word, surely? Like "Abbreviation"
What is babble chat if not a sharing of friendship and life? It is much, much more than just coldly pushing words back and forth, as it should be. babble is unique in thiss regard, and I would not for one moment do anything which would interfere with it in any form. ((trif))
(((crossy))) - now enough, or elegant will chase me with a rolling pin!
perhaps it is me who should apologize, since I tend to ramble and , as my beloved says, my tongue is hinged in the middle so it can flap on both ends!:)
it is I*
lol. Another quality that makes you fun at parties, Crossy.
hmmm, a disembodied tongue
whoops, that is all the babble time for me this morning - off to educate I go! The poor kid is going to pass out when he sees my hair today.....
In fact, I love Babble and those who dwell here so much, that I made a standing offer to Dr God that if for any reason he needs to abandon the game and the server it runs on tthat i would step up and keep it running as legacy ware for those who love it.
lol, Judi
RUBY!!!!
off to the race, literally
lol, Judi, you just want me to host another cheese fondue/toga party...
Duh. Yeah!
Copious amounts of booze, music, cheese fondues, bed sheets arranged in interesting ways to form clothing, things to skewer and dip in said burbling cheese. What more does one need:)
Bacon?
i don't think talking about problems and illness is the source of the negativity.
mm, bacon/cheddar fondues...
Heavens no, TO. It is natural to seek out others who have had similar life experiences (bad or good).
i think of babblers as our very own library. All the experiences of many, many lifetimes are here to draw upon should the need arise. The knowledge gleaned here is often very useful and without cost. it is an amazing thing sometimes.
if Babble was nothing but a word game, i would have left long ago.
For that can be had anywhere on the net.
You can't leave. Who would make breakfast?
lol...mmmm breffast...
I need some breakfast...Trying to figure out what is handy that I can get to in my chair and crutches...
Today, btw is junbo brown eggs scramble in creamery butter with diced sweet yellow and red peppers, served with home fires and crunchy toasted english muffins.
***** drooooool *******
bring your own heart meds:)
anyone find any wr words?

there are no wr words
ty
ty
hi all. any 9 clues?
Last one - re 7/44 clues please
May I have a nudge for the i? Hello to all - Crossy - breakfast sounds yummy - though I'll pass on the home fires ;)
re7.44 think Chubby Checker
don't understand lyn
Thanks and finished!
Bichon - are you so young?
It/5. Much like or's partner.
congrats Gran
no, I just didn't understand your clue, sorry'
so what did Chubby Checker sing about?
Is Ruby still here? Just wondering how she made out on her big decision.
Chubby Checker wrote a song that created a dance craze.
oh doh, ty
Judi, she was here and sounded optimistic
I don't know if she made a big decision
Good,good. Thanks, Bich.
what decision is there to be made? i have been remiss in checking in.
Goodnight all
To move her husband to a nursing home.
night, lyn!
oh, that is so hard.
She also has a tumor that may or may not be operable.
I stats please?
that lst clumn bottom t is taunting me,
oh no.
owl huh?
So, she has a potential decision regarding treatment.
fan, looking for last column, bottom t
you mena 4th column don't you owl?
TO, like money you commit to a church, but use the sometimes vowel
fan, don't trouble yourself. it will pop out eventually.
I need the last column e as well lol
Crap. My AM radio station signal just got staticky. Must be sun spots or weather.
time to go. later, all.
Seeya, TO!
still don't know it molly
Weather report says strong thunderstorms and a possible tornado this afternoon. Well, there's something to look forward to.
yes, going to run errands now, then batten down the hatches.
judi have their been tornadoes near by today yet?
Et 4, 5 & 6, MLF.
down to 98
No, MLF. Not that I know of. Front coming are way from the west.
ah I got et 4/5 on last column e ty judi
i need the 4th column i and the last column bottom t stats please?
*our* rather.
maybe things will slow down before it comes your way judi?
oops i meant i onn 4th column sorry
I'm not too worried about it. I just don't want any hail to hit my car.
lol yeah that is not fun we have had two storms with hail recently some of our roof came off because of it
okay lets try this again .. i need last column bottom T only found the others?
I'd rather have a tornado carry the car away. At least the insurance settlement would replace my car.
ti 5/12 is a church donation, take second letter and use sometimes vowel for ty 5/16
yeah but tornadoes can cause damage to homes as well. In that situation would you get the value of the car as it is now?
Ty5/16?
Last column, bottom T...to commit money, like 10% to a church, use the sometimes vowel
My car is a 2014 Subaru. I would hope to get full book value if it ever got totaled. Let's not think about that!
lol sorry judi but don't worry it wont happen
i love subaru's
i have to go wlll be backi
I came real close to getting a Subaru Outback in 2013 instead of my jeep. it was close right to tht end.
price was not an issue since both were similar.
Any clue on the ar7 (the first one, not the fancy French painter)
AR7/28: most gifted painter.
mix up the last three letters of gifted painter
anybody have the lone T?
ty5 alternate spelling of giving a tenth
ty pab. nbt!
yw Harry
halfway! bbl
good morning, 250 to go....
morning harp
153 down, 153 to go. nbt.
hi jane, le 6 is an animal for you
A type of African antelope, related to the Waterbuck. see it it all the time:)))
it is hidden from me for now
quoina by noreast is awful
No wonder it is endangered; thing is too adept at hiding:)
I am still not getting the bottom t on the last column can I get a break dwon clue please?
hello cross and ruru and annie etc
quinoa from truroots is wonderful
thanks crossy
dorens does it cook up well? the one we had was very hard and sticky
hi fan, ty and As ___ World Turns
I wasn't he real thing had flavoring packet
Quinoa is over rated. I liked it at first. Now it's just meh. Had some quinoa pasta the other day. It was awful.
bottom t is alternate spelling of ti5/12. Giving to the church. Look at the stats, high scoring letter. and yes, I just had it last night and it was perfect.
trying to cook quinoa is like trying to cook lint
lol ruru
and it is also like eating lint
I don't like any pasta that doesn't contain wheat. But quinoa is great if you mix the right stuff in it. and ru, I disagree, respectfully.
no wonder the Mayans died out
* tosses quinoa onto the crap pile along with kale **
you don't think the conquistadores had anything to do with it?
Agrees with Judi and Ru
lol judi
what is trueroot?
I cook the quinoa in my own vegetable broth and it is very flavorful.
dorens we didn't make anything with it
I think the Mayans tried to cook their quinoa over an active volcano. Oopsie.
Truroot is the brand of quinoa in my cabinet. Pretty sure it came from Costco.
it's too messy to cook for me doren..
harp Ithink its a brand name
oh, thnaks
dorens yes I know its ty but I don't have the ti 5/12 either
Chop up scallions, cucumber, tomatoes, walnuts, feta cheese, and whatever vegetables you have around -- mix with vinaigrette. It's delicious.
I suppose if you grind quinoa into a very fine flour, it would be acceptable to use in bread or pasta.
walnuts will kill me
MLFan, you give ten percent of your income to the church.
well, the walnuts (as well as everything else) can be optional. It's just how I like it.
fan, I clued that ty at 9:52 for you
dorens too much stuff for us lol
ty + "As *** World Turns"
ty trent
herbs too. i forgot them. at least italian parsley if you have nothing else.
no idea it was called htat
Same clue as Annie's
herbs are good for lots of things:)
I do a barley salad that is similar to that and barley is easier to cook
trent yes I forgot it was ty so I was confused not her fault though:) ty trent and annie
Ruru wears a big medallion around his neck. It says, "NO NUTS".
YW fan
Judi, that one deserves a "groan"
i've never liked the flavor of barley. dating back to the Kasha Varnishkes they used to try to make me eat. and I love farro, which a lot of people describe as like barley. Go figure.
it makes sense I am allergic to nuts doesn't it judi
There is also a Ti there
my husband cant have any nuts or popcorn anymopre
Farro is yummy. Groats are also good. Nutty flavor.
well ru, if you're allergic to nuts, what are you doing here in the chog? It's full of us!
*Stifles comment about nut allergy*
any one here?
Ru has the best farro recipe, Judi!
Ruru lives in a no-nut bubble.
I got the he 8/9 nbt and nbs
phaeton are you kidding?
ahhh...my chog was frozen. Wasn't getting any of the chat
oh! okay. since there were like, 12 posts in the last minute before you asked. Frozen chog... I get it.
I use faro in my stuffed peppers. Nom nom!
i had farro as a salad. did not like the texture.
I can deal with the "nuts" here doren.. because I'm not eating them :D
I got a couple of turnips in my CSA box yesterday and have no idea what to do with them. Maybe roast them and add to faro with some other stuff?
speak for yourself ruru lol
is faro a root vegetable?
so you don't have air-borne nut allergy? Sometimes in school a kid has that, and can't eat at a table if someone else has peanut butter.
No, it's a grain MLF
you can roast them with some parsnips and carrots doren with balsamic vinegar and onions
Farro is a grain, MLF. As for turnips... crap pile.
help with the ec's please?
judi lol I know what a turnip is and have heard of faro just didn't know what it was
Turnips were what was used for the original jack o'lanterns.
I know judi, my first thought was who can I give these to. But I'm thinking roasting them will improve them.
they're better mixed with other things doren
I have a pork and turnip / parsnip recipe that's pretty good
Not a fan of the skunky tubers.
really molly?
harp one is ch 5/16 add a vowel to the front of the ch word I just mentioned its the only one I have found so far
I try to avoid any vegetable that is only edible when mixed with other things:)
I mostly use turnips in soups
I have other things to mix them with. I just found out that you can roast the greens that surround the cauliflower. Plan on trying that today too.
not big chunks doren
i love cauliflower
judging by this turnip, it would be hard to carve into a jackolantern. think I'll stick to pumpkins. Like the color too.
surprised you got a root veg so early. roasting does make magic.
Make sure all of your windows are open when you roast cauliflower. Otherwise, your house will smell horrible.
just got my oven fixed this morning... the igniter was broken so I haven't been roasting much of anything.
I've roasted cauliflower zillions of times... with Indian spices often, and never smelled it. Suppose if I walked out and back in again it would be different.
<---agrees with Judi
sulpury smells
dorens with indian spices it probably very strong
I agree with Judi too. Kind of that "dirty socks of someone with stinky feet" smell
my ex..loved for me to roast cauliflower for her. I didn't like the smell
do you grill? that is god for vegetables.
this grid has got me so crazy i am missing the common words
my nose can ignore lots of smells... sometimes i think i lack sensitivity, but then something random will disgust me, reminding me that I do have a nose.
Barbeque religion?
I have a hyper-sensitive nose
Harp, I just listed a little while ago and it made a huge difference. I don't grill as often as I probably should.
(sp) on that sorry
Grilled fruits are good. Peaches, plums. Yum!
I love grilled apricots and peaches
especially in salads
Pineapples are to die for!
yes, and grilled pineapple??
snap Judi. to die for for sure!
Delicious, Dorens. Try it.
I'd have to dole out pineapples on a budget
Canned ones work well.
Okay, now I need to get busy in the kitchen. Also making radish leaf pesto (don't laugh .. I've tried it before and it is scrumptious). There was a huge bunch of beautiful radishes yesterday too. haha ru. good one
radishes you have to wash and wash
lol ruru
Another vegetable for the crap pile.
i can wash and wash. not beyond my capability. I never liked them before Judi, but am getting a taste for them now.
Although, I didn't know radish leaves were edible.
*sees judi in the vegetable aisle in the store.. crap, crap, crap.. ok...crap... crap.. ok
lol. Pretty much, Ru.
judi i don't eat many veggies either very particular here
I eat a lot of veggies
I've found that lots of leaves are edible. Roasting them often brings out a nice flavor. Started googling various ones depending on what comes my way, found out about the radish leaves and I love them.
Just made it to 100
I could be a vegetarian about 88% of the time.
Down to 37 and the veggies are calling me. Later gators.
I eat lots of veggies. Just don't like certain ones. Like broccoli, but not cauliflower. Hate parsnips, turnips, rutabaga, cabbage.
my nephews will hardly touch veggies
i have 205 to go
Also hate peas and lima beans. *runs screaming*
225
I think I will list.. I'm getting nowhere
judi peas i can deal with but lima.. eww
the y gets a workout today.
my husband loves all kinds of beans not me thank you
I'm down to 103. Need to rest my eyeballs. Will be back after lunch. Ta!

I'm up for 28 hours until an eeg, so taking my time with this grid. Also having a Harry Potter marathon. The only downside (except of course, no sleep) is NO COFFEE. So if I get crankier as the hours go by, that's why ;)
ty Molly, have all 8's now
Why are you having an eeg, ch?
It's a re-check at this point. My theta waves are slowing in wake, drowsy, and sleep states, and they haven't figured out why yet. So I'm having a second one. They already ruled out brain cancer and dementia. So that's excellent news.
how all goes well and they do not find anything serioius ch1212

hope all goes well
Hello all. Best wishes for good results, Ch12.
Thanks. I really feel fine. Just some mild cognitive issues. In my humble, non-medical opinion, I don't think anything is particularly wrong. I think I'm just weird. I was born breech, tested ambidextrous, have O negative blood, abnormally low bp ... :D

I'm sorry for your friend, Soodle. No one should have to bury a child.

I'm sorry, Soodle. What a tragedy for both you and his parents. {{ gentle hug }}
Thank you Molly. & CH. They gave him a wonderful send-off. The music was most un-funeral like. A saxophonist played 'You Got a Friend In Me' from Toy Story. Very moving.
Sounds like a true celebration of his life and spirit.
The Irish give good funerals.
For sure. It was a celebration of his short life, done tastefully. Sorry for introducing sn air of gloom to the chog.....Please resume normal happy chatting!
No gloom. Just a slice of life as it is for you now. No need to censor the chat. Things aren't always sunshine and roses.
We're a community here. We share sorrows as well as joys. You honor us with your sharing.
Amen, Molls!
And Ch!
It's time for me to take a break. Be back soon.
My thoughts are with your friends, soodle. The vicar at my son's funeral said at the moment there is a rock in the way but gradually that rock will move to one side and life will go on. It won't be the same but it will be bearable. Trust me, I know!
On a happier note, Sarah, aka Daughter of Soodle #1 is coming home tomorrow. She hasn't been home since Easter, so fair wRning to all fatted calves!!
Yay for prodigal daughters and fatted calves.
That is no way to talk about your legs, soodle. lol
'Warning'. & Hey Jaxx :-)
Actually, Jaxx, sadly, it is!!!!
hey, soodle. 'ow are things? A mix of happy and sad, it seems
Just like my ankles since i fell in an uncovered drain.
Good in parts, Jaxx, as the curate replied to his landlady after she served him a bad egg & asked him how it was!! Good in parts!
I have had an incident with my grandson. he has an awful temper and I bore the brunt of it tonight. I am fairly laid back but I will not be spoken to how he spoke to me. I ended up sending him home with no tea.
Oh no, Jaxx. Not another misfortune befell you?
I have told him straight that the next time he throws things about and yells at me I will have his trousers down and tan his bum. Abuse or not.
Awkward, Jaxx. How old is he now?
10 on 4th July.
Young enough for that sort of carry-on to be nipped in the bud. You were right to take him to task. At 16 or 17 it would be a lot harder.
He has been abominable at school and is on his last chance. Meanwhile he has a red card he can wave when he's angry. Grandma was angry as well, perhaps that is where he gets it from.
Apologies in advance for being politically incorrect, but Red Card my ass. A swift kick up the arse is what he needs. Again apologies..
I've seen very little success with the "wave the red card when you're angry" approach to anger. It's just not what someone wants to do when they are mad.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. he had a friend with him when he came home and after he banged the door so hard it was a wonder the hinges were still on, I shot outside and said friend moved extremely quickly to get away from the pink haired, red faced angry person.
... One simply being nosey suggestion is ... when he behaves in particularly objectionable ways to ask him how he feels ... if the only thing he says is "angry" ... then give him some more words to describe his feelings ... if the only word he knows is angry ... then he will behave as he as seen angry people behave and that's how he'll behave all the time ... if he can learn to express frustration or fear or frightened or lonely or misunderstanding or something else ... then he could learn other behaviors for those other words ... ... if it's applicable or in any way helpful you're welcome to it
Boys on the verge of puberty can be just as explosive as girls are in the same circumstances.
... only too true
We have attended psychiatrists and psychologists and all sorts of behaviour specialists with little or no effect. I think we have spoiled him as his two siblings are both 18 and we felt he may have been overwhelmed. We have not hit him or been nasty with him yet he tried to strangle his best friend last week.
That is serious behavior, a child attempting to strangle someone.
Very well thought out Doseffing. However in the throes of a tantrum, or 'wobbler', it's very difficult to get the kid to think rationally. Jaxx - it must be terribly difficult.
We know that. I am not sure that his alternative behaviour of throwing scissors at teachers and locking the principal in her office after flooding the school loos is any easier to cope with.
Jesus!!! Seriously, Jaxx? That is very extreme behaviour.
Seriously, soodle. Since the family moved to the big house at the beginning of the year he seemed so much better but he has deteriorated this term.
... oh it must be done at the right time and in the throws of a tantrum isn't the right time but right after we've all calmed down may work ... ... but as you've described his behaviour his parents had better interwene with something right now and that may mean serious psychological or psychiatric counceling sooner rather than later ... ... I've got a 16 year old nephew who could have been dealt with fairly easily when he was three but now is one stupid word away from an explosion and jail time
Oh I feel for his parents. My son had serious drug induced problems. This child gets glowing reports as he is a clever boy and yet the devil gets into him and he becomes the child from Hell
clever boy or not, Jaxx, threatening teachers with scissors, that other stuff you referred to - Doseffing is right. This kid is a time-bomb. Diffuse it/him right now. Whatever it takes. Seriously.
... this kid's just lazy and self-centred and focused only on the moment that he is in and his presence in that moment ... ... his mother still refers to him as baby boy and one day someone who is bigger and tougher and meaner than he is will do serious damage to him ... ...
... oh well ... two thirds done and outta time for now ... maybe later ... luck to all
My daughter seems to be totally separated from reality and won't accept there is a problem. When I phoned her to send him home she said 'Oh I know, he's like that with me'. Quite frankly, I don't want to know how he is with her, I want her to accept something is wrong with him and get him the help he needs. We have been through hell with my late son, my daughter's drinking and two bouts of trouble with Ashley; I don't think I have the energy to start again. I am waiting for an op in September and I am not feeling well. I don't expect life to be easy but a few years without meetings and appointments would be nice.
I agree with Soodle. The child is a danger to himself and others and will end up seriously injuring someone, or himself if something is not done to help him.
good afternoon all, and love and hugs to jaxx
Molly, I don't think I have the energy. Sounds defeatist but it is how I feel.
((((Jaxx))))) just a drive through hug :)
Jaxx - why are you being left to deal with this shite? Have you support from anywhere else?
It's not your job, it's his mother's job. If she refuses to acknowledge his serious problems, I hope there are some kind of social services that will intervene on the child's behalf.
Hi, Chrissie. have you read the chog? Chez Jaxx seems to be back to square one.
I have jaxx. So sorry to hear it
The social services were involved but all they want to do is take him into care. The chairwoman of the child protection team was really awful and most unsympathetic.
it is my own version of Grounhog day, namely Groundhog decades.
I don't think you have any choice in the matter at the moment. You are unwell and can only put that first
I have taken a long hard look at the past 50 years and I cannot see what I could have done differently.
oh, jaxx, I am so sorry you are having to deal with all this!
I keep thinking we are over the worst and I have no more dirty linen for the authorities to pick over and then off we go again.
Jaxx - there comes a time when you must consider your own health & well-being. you have health issues. You must get yourself well before you can help Ashley. Please consider yourself in all of this. I'm only saying....
Soodle, I appreciate all your concerns and I am grateful for the chance to talk it all out. I shall give it all some thought. meanwhile I am going back to the grid and take my mind off it and to stop boring you all rigid. Thanks
(((((jaxx)))))
Thanks usue, just what i needed.

Didn't realise I had that one sue. Monkeys must have slipped it in while I was chatting, lol
If things go on as they are with Nicola Sturgeon and friends, I can see he will need a passport to go on these trips. I can't warm to the woman.
Soodle, sorry for the loss of your young family friend xx
Thanks, Chrissie. Shit happens. :-(
Thanks, soodle.
Anyway - i'm off to hit the hay. Jaxx, you & yours remain in my thoughts & prayers. The rest of ye....g'night & God bless!
