I discovered yesterday, by accident, via Twitter and LinkedIn, that a redundancy isn't always a redundancy. Less than a month after I left someone has been hired into my exact role. Furthermore, I ended up staying in the job longer than I might have done to try to save it as one client wanted email expertise. I was told they loved what I did, but didn't want to pay for it. This clearly turns out not to be exactly the truth.

Well, I spoke to ACAS and my next step is to write a note to HR to find out exactly what's going on. I can then choose to take it further with a mediation service. In the UK (unlike the wild west that is the US) being made redundant means your job no longer exists - they're not supposed to hire someone in your place within three months

Bugs, Matthew came over and we made progress (of a sort) hauling things out of the garage, including that awful bed frame. And Tom and I have a plan (of sorts) for getting the wellhouse that you fortunately never saw cleaned out and made more useful by the end of the summer. And I realized that if I do NO MORE planning of ANY kind until the week before school when I must be in the building anyway... I will be a month ahead of where I was last year. So... pressure off and suddenly I feel more productive. :-D

Well, we still have the cat we inherited from DH's aunt when she died 4 years ago; and right now we are also "blessed" with our daughter's cat (who is now sick & isolated in the downstairs bedroom) until our daughter gets her own home.
(She did make an offer on a house yesterday! WOOT!)

Sorry, we are watching a show together. My children will make their own way in life, their own decisions and their own mistakes. They will find their own successes, and hopefully their own happiness. I am glad they are growing up, but like any mother bird watching the brood test their wings I am anxious on their behalf because their life experiences (fortunately) don't give them reason to be anxious! :-)

Me too. First we had to confine her for a week & put ear drops in every 12 hours; now she has a bacterial gut infection & is now on oral antibiotics (liquid) every 12 hours; & remains isolated from our cat for another 5 days.

Me too, cos. I'm mad at my dtr that she isn't being more responsible about caring for her cat. But I did tell her she had to take her in both times & she did pay the vet bills. This is a Manx cat; they have a double coat of fur; *I* am allergic to cat dander; so this cat has been here for 3 months now & I'm really in need of a break for my sinuses.

Claritin & sudafed are my friends right now.
I've done okay with our cat and when my son lived here with his cat he shaved it; but this cat -- not fun. (Plus she pees & poops in the bathtub instead of her litter box!)
my cat poops on a specific spot on the couch every day.. its gotten so tiresome i dont even sit there anymore lol
just once a day at the same exact spot..

i did buy puppu pads today for elly so i have that
(this cat pees on puppy pads; and if we use the special (expensive) litter for her, she pees & poops in the box but then lays in it!

This isn't new behavior, cos. The vet gave us all of the usual suggestions (puppy pads, special litter, training, etc)

My daughter raised her from about 3 weeks old because the mother rejected this kitten. I had her littermate brother from about 2 months old until we had to put him down at 18 months (poor cat was a 3rd generation "rumpy" --tail less Manx); he started developing neurological issues , rear end paralyzed, he had no feeling in his back legs, etc.
He'd done well up until things went wrong. So we had to put him down...

This cat was thrown head first into a wall when she was about 4 - 6 months old by daughter's boyfriend at the time (and she dropped him right away after that!
she shld have prosecuted for animal cruelty but good for her for dropping him!
so maybe she's neurotic and brain damaged. She's definitely imprinted on my dtr. though; and I wouldn't be surprised if that is part of why she's getting sick: she's missing her owner

She was a college student at the time; no money to prosecute him; but I think that he did get beaten up when he did it
