Crossy, we have played Scrabble next to many ponds and lakes, often hearing loons wail, and two days ago we watched sea planes take off and land on Seventh Lake, while we sat at a picnic table next to a fire in front of a lean-to. We always have the dictionary with us for challenges.
You should also air brush a scrabble board on the hull of the kayak. That way you just have to carry a bag of tiles :)

I see those lean-to's often in your pictures. Wish we had things like that. they must come in handy
More often that not, I end up stringing a large tarp overhead to stay dry long enough to set up the tent when the weather is foul ;)

{{scrabbler}} we used to go to the Lake George area on vacatins when I was a kid.
I have driven through Lake George Village but have not stopped there--too busy and commercial for me.
Although the northern part of Lake George is quieter and I think about going there someday.
My uncle owned a house on Trout Lake which was above Bolton Landing, not commercial and very pretty (but of course, that's 100 years ago --lol)
I prefer the quiet, remote lakes that do not allow motor boats.
I think Trout Lake was like that. We used to fish there and I learned to row. Also, caught frogs for my father's bait.

Though the Bruce is not a overnight camping sort of trail system. Some do through-hike but that is rare. Most just pick a chunk of its 800k for a day hike.
I think my hiking days are long past
it is small in comparison to the Bigger trail systems in the U.S

Yes, ((ruru)), that's what they think was happening. My spinal canal at L4 was extremely narrowed so they "opened it up" by attaching another fusion to the one I already had at L5 plus putting screws in the side walls. I can walk now but my legs want to give out quickly.

Well, Frank just got out of the hospital again (with M.S., a small infection can paralysis him; and as soon as the infection clears, he's better again
Ronald is in 1st grade & it's amazing watching him change! :-)
How is book 4 coming along?
too slow, too many interruptions, too many things to finish off, check off. I am not weary of the material but of the work. Just fort back from Nev where my 8 mo old gr-grandson was visiting from Paris. Very very bright and cute. Laurent talks French to him, Gil.lian English, so he'll be bi ligual.

I'd patiently peeled the dry outer covers off the ground cherries this afternoon; I'm not sure how he could spill them; but he did and and then he squashed nearly half of them. It's so funny: I said "don't move; I'll get them!" and he backs up and sqish!

Ground cherries are a relative of nightshade I think; they look like mini tomatillos and are very sweet

My zucchini and pumpkins and squash didn't produce anything, I got a fair amount of tomatoes; bok choy, Kale, and herbs; but I couldn't keep up with it and then the critters had fun out there.

birds aren't bad; it's the red & grey squirrels, the chipmunks and rabbits that have ruined our garden
in spite of the big F (focus) I agreed to review a history of Lithuanians in Spf;d for 100 years. Due soon. So this chat is an indulgance--gotta go to bed and read. Actuallu it's sorta like my saga--you can open it anywhere, and she's gathered stories and history from all over. I don't know how to review it--say just shake it and everything you can think of will fall out. Just don't step on the ground cherries.

I'd like to come this fall but it won't happen. I'll get as far as Delavan and see Ellie and kids. They are not doing well. Too much trauma. But I can ahng around a few days and be grandma furniture. (Get Topsy Turvy on net flicks for a great show--abt Gilbert and Sullivan.
