Hi Rose.
That sounds great, Ruby!
awesome, ruby. You deserve it so much.
Hello, Rose :-)
I am trying to gain weight, but so far, can't reach 40
hey ya zooz!!!
give it time, ruby. You had an uphill battle there.
rose: it was great! Very good volunteer, fun man, interesting conversations.
My neighbor brings me treats. Yesterday she made a fruit cake; I thought they only came in tins. LOL
And she brought figs from her garden
good. i did mean to ask you if the volunteers are de-briefed after their shift?
nice, ruby! Make sure you eat from it. Wait... you must have stroopwafels. Will send you some.
ooh figs & custard yum yum!
Volunteering where, Sprite?
their reports are checked, rose. Not sure if they are routinely debriefed or only if there ar complaints or issues
My other friend brought me curds and whey
They call whey petit lait
ruby: at a telephone help service for people in need
You are perfect for that, Sprite
Agreed.
Food is here. XX everybody. Rose, I owe you a letter!
she is, ruby. with all sprite has been through, the experience will show.
bon appetit!!
I hope so. I can't wait until I can start for real. Won't be long... soon I will do the conversations with a mentor listening in.
Enjoy your meal, Ruby :-)
enjoy, ruby :)
xoxox ruby. enjoy my darling
We have something like that here, sprite.they are called the samaritans.
good name, zooz. Here they are called Sensoor... which is a play on words... sens for sensitivity and oor = dutch for ear
Morning all! In better news, it looks like we've made an offer on house that is likely to be accepted, and my credit rating is better than I thought it would be. Woop!
Nice one, Matty!
awesome matty! I am glad to hear it. Two out of three isn't too bad, is it?
I like that name too, sprite :-)
Does anyone have the stats for the lone O? And or for any of the E above the S in the fourth row, fourth column?
os4
os4/4 matty
ec4/6, 5/14
another ec4/6. and an es5/12
phantom: fiesta
Good morning, everybody:)
Ah as soon as you said es5 I got it!
our help line is called life line.
Hello, Crossy :-)
good morning crossy :) *hugs* How are you and the lovely Elegant today?
morning crossy
Mine was :Curtails, Sprite.
Hi Crossy.
A good name also, Rose :-)
ah thanks zooz, now I have that one imprinted on my retina as well ;)
I like that name, rose
all the names are good. they mean something to the people who need the help.
((sprite)), Sukee, Zooz, et all I am fine and my better half is still abed. Only 06:00 here. Will give her another half-hour :)
((rose))
Sorry about that, Sprite NOT lol
ceca
*giggles* Luvsya, zooz!
*giggle* like my darling don says. sometimes i wake up grumpy...sometimes i let her sleep in.
lol Don
you are generous, crossy!
Had anymore cats sitting on your face, Crossy..lol
I hope that did not sound too rude.it was not meant to be.
name that proper noun: prize for movie related stuffr/people
huh??? crossy has had a pussy sitting on his face?? i hope he didn't complain.
Every morning, Zooz, every morning:(
I am certain crossy didn't complain
*explosive laughter*
Bad kitty
lol
OSCAR
I just could not think of that name..damn!!
gimmie something I can use, rose;)
Made Italian style cheese bread last night :) it is going to go down good all toasted with butter and apple jelly and a cuppa tea :)
Great now I am having somach grumbles.
Stomach*
:)
hokay, need to find my jammies and meds. brb. xoxox
I think we have lost, Sprite.
Squirrel sprite?
back. So sorry. Windows update decided to fully autonomously reboot my system
I had that yesterday. Very annoying.
I often find, that with breads, the best recipe is the simplest 1/2 cup of warm water, 5 tsp of dry yeast,3 tbs sugar, mix and let steep for 5 min/ 2 cups of warm water 2 tbs salt, 6 cups of flour, knead the hell out of it and do 2 rises of an hour each. bake for 20 min
dingdingding for the oscar :)
I'll try that someday soon, crossy
it is so easy sprite. i just bake on flat tray to get the long loaves
I am way too lazy I will just go to the shop and buya loaf. Will admit though it will not taste anything like fresh home made but it is a lot quicker :-)
sounds good. How many degrees C for the oven?
bread, even on sale here, zooz, is expensive at two loaves for 5 dollars. we are a loaf-a-day family so that is 30 loaves a month. making my own cuts that cost exactly in half
400F
200c or so
ugh, ok, let me find the celcius for that
sorry my entire life is metric except my old stove
204.4 c
hehehe just converted it too. Thanks.
True, Crossy. I live alone so it only costs me about 80p for a small loaf. and that will last me a few days. But I can see why you would make your own when you use a lot of it.
We( my generation) are the last of the measurement hybrids, Sprite. Canada went metric in 1978 and for the most part I can think in both. After our generation passes things will settle don . I still think of beer in pints for example :)
:)
but flour has become so expensive.... is it really worth it crossy? (unless you stock up on the pre-holiday sales)
hiya Kate :)
That recepe will get ten parge loaves out of a 5 pound bag of flour. The jar of granulated yeast will last for two bags.
Hello, Tk :-)
I get two 5 pound bags of flour for 8 dollars
hiya...mid-sleep lurkiong.. going back for the rest fo my sleep soon
phantom: crucifies
so it is very much worth it cost wise
hi zooz, nice to see all you early morning babblers I haven't seen much oflately. MY FACOURITE BUNCH!
All my favorites are on this time of day, kate ;)
*gives Kate a hug*
sprite... you're close... anterior cr ligament...
Another good phantom, Sprite!
me too.. except I haven't been here at this time lately. circadian rhythm is out of whack again :(
thanks Kate
{{{ sprite }}}
So as long as I can get flour for undera dollar a pound, it is good
not easy to keep the inner rhythm in sync with the outer world, Kate
very true sprite...
Though I do not buy cheap flour. it is Robin Hood or 5 roses every time
I have never heard of those.
I never used to have this problem, but last 5 years or so..my dy/night won't stay regulated no matter what I do, what I try..even what drugs I try...
Well, just pick a big name brand on your side of the pond and you will be fine :)
being menopausal maybe, kate?
kate. i am down to 4 hours a night on average and thankful for that. sleep meds only make me foggy all the next day, so i avoid them
they are more popular brand name foulrs this side of the pond zooz
yes sprite, mental pause has ruined my life :(
I have no excuse, I am just mental :)
that stinks, kate :( Not easy to bear when our hormones are out of whack.
Same here, Crossy :-)
((Kate))
lol crossy. we know!
These woman thinnk they have it hard.Try being a man.
:)
<----Runs for cover
You are asking for it, Zooz
being a man is easy. Constant hormonal levels all through life, except for puberty.
I was desperate enough to try clonazepam... though supposed to be a 12 hour thing it lasts 16-18 hours in me...and I can't pass my personal standard of alertness on it (even small doses) I call the sudoku test... if I can't do them, or struggle on an easy, I am non compis mentis...
good test, Kate. Have you tried um... darn it... oh yeah, melatonin? Natural sleeping stuff?
what's wrong zooz? why run? I think I would have rather been a man, growing up in the era I did...
The ratio of women to me in Babble is about 98% to 2%. You are playing with fire, Zooz old boy :)
to men*
*giggles* gently kicking zooz's heinie
LOL
I see Freud is in the grid too today
Hey what s up Crossy, cluck cluk you chicken..lol
Sometimes a grid is just a grid :)
ya.. melatonin of no use what-so-ever... tried extra strength 1/2 instant & 1/2 time-released to keep you asleep... desperate enough for triple the dosages... still up for hours in middle of night.
I have been well trained over the last 24 years, zooz:)
lol
*grins* I love you, crossy
((sprite))
ugh Kate, too bad. Wish I knew something that might help you.
besides, it is kind of nice having girlfriends in 18 or so countries....
platonic ones, crossy :)
ah.. but testerosterone levels do drop off too in men as age marches on... and they all have prostrate things to worry about... but too scared/ashamed to go see doc
:)
Have oyu spoken to your doctor, Kate.Maybe they can help or suggest a specialist in that field?
I call ruby my exotic french GF :)
I suggest a rubber hammer, Kate
eeww
lol crossy! And what do you call me? Your cheap dutch date?
Kate, i have had the big c three times. if something odd is going on with my bod, i never hesitate. I have been well trained there as well
I wish you did too sprite... it is literally ruining my life... it is coming up to 6:30 AM, but I am ready for the second part of my sleep now... could not possibly function if I stayed up now :(
lol, Never Sprite :)
yes talked to docs til
in case of doubt, always see your doctor
When I had my prostate checked the Dr stuck his finger somewhere I did not like at all. Will never do that again.
*hugs kate* It really stinks!
I had tome big german woman tell me to bend over and cough...was not pretty
yeah well, it is the only way he can feel it, zooz. Please make sure you are checked once in a while... the alternative is much worse :(
some
although prostate cancer is a very slow cancer in men. you can have it and still live out your full years
I must admit, Sprite, If i think something is wrong i will always go to the doctor :-)
I have no sympathy for you men... we have endured pap tests all our adult lives... it is no worse..you're jsut wooses..maybe they should start prostrate exams on men at 18, then it may not be such a big deal...
that is great, zooz. You are a wise man.
My seminoma though, unchecked would have eaten me up in a year:)
lol Kate
am glad you got it in check then, crossy. We need our crossy!
and we need him alive :)
((Kate)) wise words :-)
So I get the tests on time and only grumble a little bit'
there are decent blood tests for prostrate now..so physical exam is secondary.. though the physical is quicker and more accurate starting point
grumbling is healthy
Zooz and I will be here a long time yet to testify for the guys ;)
Tell my stomach that, Sprite. It grumbles a lot :-)
amen to that, crossy.
Here here, Crossy :-)
hehehe it means you need to be nice to it, zooz
I am.. i give it chocolate...crisps...biscuits..tea..Wh\nat more does it want tsk tsk!
fireflies. Good grid, quick start, then halfway it became a lot harder.
chocolate and tea... heaven
Hey i have been here much longer than you at this grid and I still need 33 more words!
Congrats all the same :-)
cjongratulations sprite...
a big warm *hug* for all my friends here. Have a wonderful day (and Rose, sleep well, darling)
I think, Rose took her meds and then dropped off to sleep.
I think I sould todle off for now too, having managed to find 30 words :)
kate, all the best. I hope you can sleep soon. And that your hormones will settle real soon.
Bye for now, Sprite.Have a great day.
WTG SPRITE!!!!
bye spritey, hagd too!
Bye for now, Kate.Try and get some shut eye.
desperately trying to cool down. and my hips will not give me any respite either.
will do zooz
The meds are not helping then, rose?
hi grannyrose... once again, we are but ships passing in the night (or day, in your case)
Hi kids.
Hello, Scrabbler :-)
usual meds don't include analgesia. have taken that seperately. it looks like the cortisone shots haven't helped.
Howdy, Sprite :)
xoxox kate, dear. hope you can sleep sweetie.
Sorry to hear that, Rose :-(
gm, everyone! coooeee, Rose!
Poor rose overheating :( tis 4C here atm
*giggle* cooee lbdawger. hi ya scrabs
Hello, Dawg :-)
just below 30C here and it is nearly 10pm. ugh!!
Oh great rub it in, rose, why don,t you! It never gets that hot here in the middle of summer LOL
i have the a/c on, but i think i need the fan also.
*smirk* zooz
Like i said to ruru yesterday my A/C is opening the window and closing it..lol
Poor, Rose.
And we have snow predicted for Sunday!
First of the season already, Scrabs!
Yes, we always get some snow in October although it doesn't stay on the ground for long.
Ah no need for the snowshoes just yet then.
Yup, we have had 3 frosts now, so it is only a matter of time
Have the snowshoes ready to go :)
It was about 7c/ 44f here this morning. so it it getting lower and lower :-(
We embrace the seasons here. Winter is so long, and with so much snow, it is best to surrender and find a hobby or exercise that uses it to its full advantage
We always hope to snowshoe/ski before Christmas.
Good attitude to have, Crossy!
Yup. We live or die by the run coverage on Blue Mountain ovcer Christmas break
I thoroughly enjoy winter, especially snowshoe treks, and always mourn the arrival of spring.
I admire people like yourselves. I just can not keep warm in the colder months no matter what i wear. Ski type clothing or not I just freeze.
I am thin as a rake so that might have something to do with it..lol
Our canuck blood is as thick as a nice bowl of porridge :)
and i am a tad "husky" myself.. see pic on my blog standing beside our tiny Flosey :)
Layers are the key, and hand warmers--small bags of chemicals which are exothermic reactions upon exposure to oxygen. They heat the hands (or any body part) for 8 hrs.
Well you are fro a place that has harse winter conditions so your body has adapted to it i suppose, Crossy.
lots of layers that breathe
I like the idea of the hand warmers will have to google them to see .
And being active generates heat and sweat withing 20 minutes. I end up wearing surprisingly little clothing to snowshoe, just windproof gear. And I return to the lodge soaked in sweat.
I used to always have gortex clothing but they are very hard to come by now.
In full winter i generally run with a modern style of long-johns, my clothes, a fleece outer garment and a ski shell.
Yes I could not agree more, Scrabs.I do not do much activity when it is acold accept go from A to B so that is a big factor.
The inside of my shell is soaking after a day outside
ஜ۩۞۩ஜ F.I.R.E.W.O.R.K.S ஜ۩۞۩ஜ
a good wool/synth blend of socks as well
Yaa for zooz!
hokay. bed made. and the perspiration is dripping off me. i think i'll go and sit in front of the fan before i try to sleep. xoxox to all my friends.
Yay Zozo. I have found just 25.

WTG ZOOZZOOM!!!!
Hope you can keep cool for a good nights sleep, Rose.

Never mind
Got it!! Once I stopped assuming that there must be two Cs I was better :)
you can never be too ca6 about that :-)
just found out Enable is colorblind too. It doesn't even have fuschia in its dictionary.
There's no H in this grid...
And it's spelled fuchsia :)
Ah - ty matty - first part isn't applicable since I was just monkeying at the time and it came up "not found in the dictionary" - but my misspelling is. Heck, it's a hideous color anyway
True!
the correct spelling could lead to embarrassing pronunciations if someone was unfamiliar with the word.
hope you're all ready for an enjoyable day (or night, as the case may be) - I'm done -- with my half-plus-one -- and gone. G'bye
hello...stats for the U? pls

strangely!!
h,, it appears there are at least two of those stats in tr
the sixes i have are plurals already. ty, i will keep babbling
oh, ok, it will make 2 pans 9 x 5 or 3 pans 9 x 4
and I'll add that now
ty. i tried a new banana bread recipe, with oil vs. butter and only one egg for a large loaf. since eggs are so dear, it is good
clue for the cr8, pls?

ty flosey

/I'll
cr + the last 4 of what a sexy woman does to a man, she se7 him (lures him to have sex with her) Then extend that cr word with consumed food for the 8
or you could just clue the cr8 as a ligament that many athletes tear, lol
Thanks! Got one...working on the second clue...
Oh silly me. Sorry for the crummy clue.
;) LOL
ty, Therealblah. reminds me a bit of the old Harry Potter torture curse. :)
...of course pulling that particular ligament amounts to pretty much the same thing ;)
Hmmm,can't get that ligament:(
yes crossy! someone earlier used that as a clue.
hello friends

Good Afternoon, Everyone. Lately it seems like I'm not *loving* quite a few grids these days; but I've just been here a few minutes; so maybe I should withhold judgement for a bit?

hi lynxxx
I agree, this is a toughie. I am 85 words in, and still have two blank tiles
I have 2 blank tiles too, but am just 45 words in.
now that is a dumb word! ca6.33
thanks, lynxxx

hi all
thanks, lynxx
hi Owl
Hi TO
hey lyn, nef.
and lynxx, it would probably help me if (when I type) I put letters in the right order. even with that clue I realized I was putting the letters in the wrong places in the word!
How are you feeling today, TO? I think you were a bit under the weather the last time I saw you (?last week?)
got to run - bye all
nef, i think i am feeling better but i run out of steam by afternoon. feels like a head cold.
bye lynxxx
bye lyn!
I'm glad you're feeling better. It's funny how a *simple* (?) cold can wear a person out, isn't it?
by this time of night my head hurts. how are you tonight?
I'm ready for bed myself & my only excuse is my grandson was here & had way too much energy today! :-)
yes. that can be a challenge
he let something slip that I'll need to talk with his Dad about. His Dad plays board games every Friday night with other computer nerds; & Ronald said that if he acted up enough then maybe I wouldn't have him over and *He'd* be able to go play board games too!
how old is he?
6.
i am feeling a chill sitting by the picture window and it is drafty.
My son's job is with a small computer program company and he sometimes has long hours; plus is raising Ronald as a single dad (the mom is involved - at times - but she's bipolar & not a good influence, nor is she dependable; so I don't begrudge my son for a night off every week.)
grab a nice warm qu 5/16 and curl up with it
i am sure it's nice to see him.
it is the headache. i rarely have them; there is always a reason
most of the time I ove the boy; but lately it's a bit harder (I'm having a knee replaced in a few weeks; pain is wearing me out)
I love , my typing is bad tonight
quilt
hoping that goes well.
me too; I have a surgeon who is reccommended by other medical friends
not even half way so far...but a clue for the su 7/40 would be most appreciated.
Kate people who excel are said to be su******ful
these su words seem tobe murder...only 2 found so far..
ty mel :)
don't forget the Kama Su 5/12 book, Kate
ty nef!
just one mor su word.. just before the one Nef clured...
Beach Boys were into su** ing music?
Double consonant of the 4 before it
(I haven't listed, so not sure if that's the one before it or not)
I have beach boys wave su 4/8 su 5/12 ???? karma su5/12
su5...double consonant in the middle of the 4 before it
su 4/5, dble the cons in the middle
ty nef and molly, got it!
I was sure I just said that twice.
hello....
you did, Molly, but the su 4 is both the wave and the one before that. the su 4/5 is the word she needs
hi pen :)
hi pen.
speaking of su words...any clues for the su 7/44?
nm
i will leave that clue to the nurse
bbs
thought I had it, but don't :-)
But Kate said she had all the s words but one, so it had to be the double consonant one.
the key to su 7/44 is lots of hard work
that's the su 7/40...
the su 7/44 is a different word...chemical term....
sorry. penquis is correct
thanks, Nef, snagged it!

ga6...clue please
did something change on this site that I see word completion choices in the "add word" box, or is this something which I inadvertently changed on my browser?
nvm I found it!
harry, sounds like you may have autocomplete on
or on a cell, predictive text
It just started today - how do I turn it off? I'm on chrome - I looked for it on advanced settings, but didn't see it
settings, type predict in the settings search bar and uncheck "use prediction services..."
if that is it... just a guess ;)
or it could be the autofill in the advanced settings...
I think it's something that was loaded with my auto updates last night.
it's really annoying.
sounds like it... I use firefox :)
google is just trying to be helpful :)
I can't take any more help...
if it could help me get the last 82 words...
Off to bed. Good luck with your predictive text.
good night gobias. ty for trying to help
woohoo Mets are up by 1
good riddance S's
ca6/33 please?
what mom has in her minivan - a ca6 of kids
tx dan -- FW!
or, be ca7 and drop a middle vowel
woo hoo Une! fw here too! fe5 vigor was my last
It is happening to me too Harry and I don't like it either. Also on Chrome
https://support.google.com/chrome/answ\ner/142893?hl=en
has some instructions for deleting autofill info or disabling it all together
or just google for 'disable autofill chrome'
thanks dan! I will give it a go
good luck! I hope it will work
that should fix it
:D
are you all done, ru?
yep
I thought I'd clear the chat so it wouldn't run off the page
oh, poo, all the clues I was reading disappeared
You can see the entire chat if you click the icon to the far right at the top of the chat log.
