hi Rose
hi flosey
((((((rose)))) great to see you!!
wow.. are you done rose? congrats
{{{{{{dee}}}}}}} lovely to be here.
thanx ruru.
How are you doing, rose?
i have been in a pretty dark place, dee. but coming up for air now.
thanks again Dee, got them
nice, flosey, yw
really glad to hear of improvement, rose. How is your pain?
i had the denervation, dee. 2 weeks ago today. after first 2 days when it was still numb, the pain is starting up again. :-(
crap
nice and succinct dee. and the wretched cortisone in my right hip hasn't done the trick either. left hip is terrific.
have a friend who is having a similar, chronic nerve pain down one leg... had surgery 3 ye5 ago, and will be having surgery again the 1st week of November
Can they try again? Recently had same shot in my left knee, but I think it is starting to wear off...
it's so scary dee. my knee gives way, when i never expect it to do so.
i'm not sure how frequently i can have them. it is cortisone, and i buzz like a bee in a bottle.
That is how I fell twice in last 9 years, so I understand that fear.
I think at least 4 times a year.
So interesting how cortisone affects everyone so differently.
When is your next doctor's appt.?
so every 3 months. i might look into it. the second doctor used a different method on my right hip. i am wondering if that was why it hasn't worked as well.
pain doc next wednesday. and we have started the fortnightly infusions of magnesium.
could be. Unless they hit the right spot, they do nothing.
Does magnesium help you?
magnesium helps with the FM. i really don't want another infusion of ketamine.
Bad reaction?
weeellll. when i had the denervation, they gave me ketamine in conjunction with propofol, an anaesthetic drug which knocks you out.
it was like i was in a kaleidoscope. all pink and apricot, and it kept exploding and coming back together again.
sounds like a 1960's LSD trip. Maybe ketamine alone won't do that?? Not sure, I know very little about that med.
the nurse was saying...open your eyes, and i am going...nope, no way!!
LOL
I hope your pain guy can get on top of everything. Really baffles me how quickly pain can appear... seemingly out of nowhere. Truly strange with RA and FM
Rose, you sure have been through one Hell with all the agonies you've endured
yup!!!
oh, flosey, de4. maybe i should keep my mouth shut. i ne4 to learn to not rant here. i hope i haven't upset anyone.
Hi, I'm rarely on this time of night (am in Calif). Couldn't help but note the FM and magnesium connection, since I just downed my mag before bed... it helps my muscles not ache so badly and cuts out the leg cramps.
We wouldn't ask, rose, if we didn't want to hear. We care how you are.
Good to hear, Kam.
You have to get it out sometimes! The pain can be overbearing. I saw doc today and his advice was " with your body, all things in moderation."
thanx dee. and i hope you all feel comfortable enough to tell me take a long walk off a short pier...
Cannot see that happening, Rose. Have certainly heard that same phrase, Kam... just frustrating at times, and overwhelming at others.
Rose, I'm sorry you hurt, it sucks. I swear by the magnesium - and morphine!
Really absurd diseases. Friend of mine just was diagnosed with RA. They cannot get her inflammation or pain under control yet... really feel badly for her.
g'day kam. yes magnesium is great for FM. with my FM it is the muscles which are mostly effected. they are in a constant state of quivering. the magnesium stops that progressing to spasms and cramps.
Rose, (just stepped out for a minute) No, please understand, I care and just wish there was some way your doctors could aleviate the pain you've been suffering for such a long time
G'Day Rose!
Have they ever tried neurotin for your FM, rose?
thanx flosey. you all are such lovely people.
no dee, i will ask doc. when i see him.
If it's morning for you, I'll bet you're not feeling so well...the first 3-4 hours of the AM are not good for me. Then, the meds kick in and I finally wake up
It is being used in America for the nerve / muscle shaking.
Neurontin and I didn't get along well at all, but a friend with FM loves her Lyrica, which is pretty much the same thing.
ahhh, it's generic name is gabapentin, and it made my ankles swell and my lungs fill with fluid.
Each and every med affects each and every person differently. I think it is the trial and error of the process that gets so maddening.
absolutely, dee. the ketamine infusion over 10 hours works really well, but i have an addictive personality and don't want to push it.
So true, Dee. I hope you ladies don't mind me popping into chat...I should be in bed, but hubby was watching a movie, so I was babbling...<grin>
Great to hear your input, Kam.
kam, it's lovely to meet you, honey.
I can understand that, rose. Wise to wait as long as you can.
Thanks, hi everyone!
A ketamine infusion is unheard of here in the States - the docs are so afraid of giving pain meds! I'm lucky to have a doc that understands that I try alternative means on top of the pain meds - I use essential oils a lot, but it takes a lot of research to find the right ones
Too bad US is getting so absurd about great meds because of a handful of abusers. Pretty ridiculous, actually.
We've all been on a long journey to find what works best and then make do with what the docs will give us
it does kam. are your pain docs trained anaesthetists too?
Dee, you have no idea - unless you suffer pain. They've made it next to impossible to get pain relief!
I understand, Kam. I have Rheumatoid and FM
Rose, my old docs were, but they figured I was stable and ran me off to find someone on my own when I moved from San Francisco to a rural area (only place I could afford a house).
Rose, our pain docs in this area usually are anaesthetists, too.
I just have OA, so lucky it's not RA, but I have psoriasis to deal with too. Not painful, but ugly - another immune thing
All immune diseases - really believe all of these are related to all the chemicals we drink, eat, and breathe. We have contaminated this earth.
OA is just as painful, unfortunately.
So, Dee, you do understand. Why are docs so stingy with meds? Because the stupid DEA and FDA and all those other agencies come down on them and threaten their licenses. Not fair to them when they have patients in pain!
431 wowzers
The docs here don't like it any better than we do. Most say it has worsened with Obama. Hopefully, soon, the legislators will wake up.
I agree about the contamination - I used to be able to eat almost anything - now I can't handle pork, gluten, sugar....my diet is pretty weird now, but I just try to eat fresh.
ditto that
don't your pain docs attend seminar on the latest treatments? that is why the docs over here have finally realised how to treat pain with multi-modal techniques.
Yes, Rose, but with Obamacare, the "rules" have changed. The docs don't want to be fined or jailed, and the new laws are pretty absurd.
It is going to involve heavy lobbying and a lot of other political manipulations to get a balance. Meanwhile, we all go nuts.
that really sucks big time, dee
how about an on-line petition?
Definitely. Even getting tramidol now is a big ordeal. I think they just want to shoot us old folks here...
I was in pain management at Univ of San Francisco pain clinic for years, but now love 120 miles and 3 hours of traffic away. They were up on the latest and greatest since they're a teaching hospital, but I can't get over there now.
so sorry to hear that, kam
LOL, Dee, I SO agree! And, if your profile is up to date, you're younger than I am!
I like my doc, he listens. He even researches things I tell him and gives me his opinion next time I see him - he likes what I'm teaching him about alternative medicine.
Not love, LIVE!
Just had my 60th birthday. Was diagnosed in '94. I have really been disappointed / saddened by these recent changes in healthcare. All autoimmune diseases are affected by stress; none of this helps!
UCSF had a good pain center
Dee did you see that FM has finally been accepted in the mefical community as a real disease?
when was your 60th dee?
Sounds like a great relationship, Kam. Is he a rheumatologist or internal med doc?
Exactly! I'll be 63 next week. Whoop! Too tired to celebrate!
Absolutely, Mel. Thank you, Johns Hopkins :)
<---older but not wiser than Dee
9/18, ru
Practicing as family medicine, but I think he's an internist.
I actually screamed when I read it.
Happy almost birthday, Kam.
I am sure wiser, ru :)
Thanks :)
I didn't celebrate mine either kama
LOL, mel. I completely understand that. I lost my doc of over 20 years lately, due to some insurance company issues. I was livid. Now trying to start a new relationship with a new dr... very frustrating.
At least FM is officially "real." As if we didn't know already! I was diagnosed ages ago - in 1989.
My daughter arranged a surprise dinner for me... I was so no into celebrating, I didn't wear make up; walked into restaurant, and thought (scuse my French), oh, shit.
i was officially diagnosed in 2006, but unofficially over 30 ye5 ago.
no = not
Nothing is more frustrating that trying to get to know a new doc! And where I am, they come and go too often, but I think my current doc has put down roots here and will stay for a long time.
that's not fair dee
No one cared, but me. Thankfully, we didn't do pictures, but dinner was fantastic.
My insurance all of the sudden will not cover my dermatologist appointments irregardless of the fact that I have already had skin cancer, have 2 types of skin diseases that are high cancer risks, my GP is mad and mystified
Fingers crossed on that, Kam.
Can't beat a fantastic dinner! Sans pics would have been good for me too. Pardon all of my typos...
Completely ridiculous, mel.
news here is that the government is legislating to make medicinal cannabis legal.... finally..
my doctor is at UCSF too kama
Several of our states have, rose, not in Indiana, yet. Mel, in what state do you live?
Oregon
Pot isn't legal here..but we pretend it is in California
Yep, every time I talk to him I check...he likes the rural area as he is a horse person, and he really cares about his patients. He's so popular now that it takes a month to get an appt! So I make mine WELL in advance!
lol, ru
Marijuana is legal here but you cannot get pain meds if you are a cannabis user.
Pot isn't Federally legal - but if you have your doc letter/card/whatever, it is legal in CA for personal medical use.
Mel - in CA?
Or if you have a card,
No Oregon
Interesting, mel. Sure hope your doc can figure out what the issue is with dermatologist...
I used to live in Oregon for 5 years.. nice state
I don't think it is legal at any level now (in Indiana)
Other drs and insurances might allow it, but mine doesn't
I never heard of insurance covering medical marijuana before
hmmm.. we'll have to change rose's name to grannypothead
LOL what a hoot!!
Only thing it ever helped with with was migraines...
finally tired enough to sleep, 100 for tomorrow, goodnight all, heppy babbling
(if granny starts listening to reggae music.. we'll know then)
night flosey
Not the insurance they WON'T cover your pain meds, tramidol, hydrocodone etc if you are a medical marijuana user.
Sleep well, flosey!
Night flosey
Nin Flosey
haha ruru. not likely mate. sweet dreams flosey.
Mel, that is crazy! I already lost track of what state you're in...
(mails two tie-dyed t-shirts to Australia)
ooohhhhh, ta so much, ruru.
Hi everyone - we have 20 minutes before we need to get to our gate for our flight from Prague to London. Heading back to Canada tomorrow :( Have had a wonderful trip - good weather for the most part -- loved Turkey and Greece, but still prefer Paris to all.
hi nan
too bad you didn't respond to my note before you left nan
Hiyeas Nan ((hugs)) cant wait till you get home so you can tell us all about it!!
safe journey nan. looking forward to hearing all about it. safe flight, honey.
Friends or ours just returned from a Turkey / Italy trip, nan. How cool! Safe travels!
(the only Turkey I want to see is at Thanksgiving)
I must go sleep now...nice to meet you all, and thanks for the conversation and understanding, especially Dee and Rose, was nice chatting with you!

xoxox kam. i hope you sleep well, dear
before leaving where, ruru? -- didn't see your note.
I offered to be a personal assistant and tote your bags :D
Very nice to meet you, Kam! Come back!!

Many thanks, Kam, you, too!

Highly organized, OCDish, perfectionist, blah, blah...
yep
it's in your sign dee
you don't have a choice
:) control freak...
ah
oh I bet that surprise party sure went over well at first
loyal
I'm going to cut out to bed.. have a nice night everyone
I literally had no clue. My birthday week was bizarre - new house being built next door; contractor cut our cable line, so we had no TV or computer for almost 2 days; finally gets fixed; same day our a/c went out and we had to spend 10K for a new a/c system (in a 9 year old house grrr); brother came to visit in midst of all that, so by the time we were supposed to go to dinner, I was worn out.
sweet dreams ruru. btw, did you check out my new icon?
oh wow dee
Nini Ruru Sweet dreams
I did.. looks like you guys had a good time. Kiwi is a hoot I bet
Probably good that all happened, so I didn't focus on the number (which has me freaked out)
Great photo, rose!!
she sure is ruru. you are gonna have to look her up when you get to NZ
my brother asked me what I was doing for my birthday and I said I was going to sit in the corner with the lights out :D
thanx dee. ;-)
yes.. hopefully someday when I can get away for a month from the biz
I totally empathize! YQW, rose! Had a freaky week last week... a friend of my husband's, his son, a basketball coach at a nearby school, and race car driver Tony Elliott (all from our small town) were killed in a freak airplane crash.
they were flying from Warsaw to the Notre Dame game at Clemson; crashed one mile from airport.
that is terrible dee. too much heartache all at once. xoxox
wow.
Pilot was my hubby's friend; impeccable record. Neared airport 5 miles from Clemson; controller told them to get into holding pattern (too much rain / water on runway, so other planes were not taking off quickly). When they banked to turn to "get in line", windshear from mountains made plane spiral downward and crash.
Tony and his wife lived in our daughter's neighborhood. Wife didn't want him to travel (had an intuitive feeling)... deaths are impacting our small towns pretty severely.
I honestly did not realize how famous Tony was. Charlie had been a banker for a bunch of years and was really well liked and known by many.
Definitely puts life in perspective.
finally fireworks :)
dee, putting those families and communities on my prayer list.
Wow Dee nice, grats
WTG VOLLEYMOMDEE!!!
Congrats, Dee
Back for a while before going out - so hi again
{{hugs}} lizgirl
Ty, Mel. That would be great, rose. They all would appreciate it. Funeral viewings and funerals have been full.
So sorry to hear your news, Dee - a tragedy :(
Thx, Liz. Went pretty quickly, until my last 100.
Thx, Liz.
I'm at 112 - will try to get a few more now and finish tomorrow.
Good luck, Liz. *poofing with hugs* .. busy day tomorrow.
Funny how a break helps - just found 2 simple 4 letter words!
Sleep well and hugs, Dee.
Well done!
Hugs, Rose - sorry missed your greeting.
Definitely not ignoring you.
((liz)) ((rose)) ((ru))) (((mel))) others...
sleep well dee, honey. xoxox
Haven't really chatted for ages, Rose. How's life been treating you?
Nini Dee ((hugs))
Brb
not so shabby, liz. seeing pain doc next wednesday for next magnesium infusion. no ketamine...
That's good - is it really 4 weeks since the last one? Where did that time go?
How's the knee doing?
it's only been 2 weeks. i am now on fortnightly magnesium without the ketamine. knee is being a right ***.
So the denervation didn't work?
doesn't appear so. :-(
:(
Did you hear about my little mishap?
Goodness, this grid should keep me busy for a while. Not bad, as Jeff is out today
Hi Matty - did you get the house and the job?
House yes, job no
no liz, spill.
That's what I did!
So back to the drawing board with the job, but lots to do for the house - early days yet!
Slipped on a wet patch on kitchen tiles - bruised ribs.
Great about the house - b**ger about the job.
oh no liz. anything broken? or just your pride?
Kitchen floor is very hard!
Neither! Felt lucky that the glass bottle didn't cut me!
and you wonder why i want vinyl tiles....
Incredibly sore though!
did you fall on your backside?
couldn't work out why hubby was telling me not to move - then i thought about the glass!
No, left hand side - broke the fall with my arm.
are you using arnica on your bruises?
No - just using paracetamol.
Down to x2 a day.
darn, there goes the timer. dinner ready. maybe i'll see you after. xoxox
Going out tonight - so maybe tomorrow. Have a good evening. Hugs to you both.
WOW, yhis is huge!
Hello, if anybody is here
Just add ers er ed est to every word you see that will take care of about 200 Ruby :)
Hello mel, nice to see you!
Oh and plural too :)
Hello Ruby!
or the Y as well. Hello to you both
Hiyas Lynxx Hugs to you both
{lynx}
winter is here!
how did you go with your tests Ruby?
Hmmm who would of thought the sh
5/12 word meaning shallow water could be past tense
And I just learned if I hit the spacebar twice on my new kindle it is the same as the enter key lol
Add er to that sh word too
Everything is stable and the blood numbers have all improved. The lingering problem is fluid in one lung and I don't want a puncture as it fluctuates and results are not assured.
I can live with being short of breath.
That mostly sounds terrific..and now that you can take it easier I am sure you get even better
I'm eating better. so that should help. I have to break the habit of eating standing up in the kitchen
because you were rushing about?
grabbing a minute here and there when Burt was still here
I understand. Now you can set a lovely place for yourself and enjoy your food and read a book or magazines over a coffee - or wine even
For some reason, I've lost my taste for alcohol. It might be the morphine but it's odd, not having a cocktail before dinner
maybe something sweeter?
good morning all
hi Sprite
Before all this, I craved salt. Now I eat cake
{{s[rite}}
cake is good - get some weight back on you
*hugs lyn and ruby*
Ugh food talk making me hungry, hiyas Sprite ((hugs))
Morning!
hi mel :) *hug*
I eat French toast with two eggs and maple syrup every morning. Lots of butter, too
Morning Matty
Oh my word Ruby you are killing me here! Now I have to go find food!
wow - I wish I could eat like that Ruby - I love french toast!
hi Matty
I'm sorry, Mel.
Hello Matty.
This is so much fun with nothing I have to do except let in the food lady and wait for my friend to take me to the nursing home at 1"30
you were due a bit of peace, ruby. Overdue even :)
that wasn't supposed to be a stopper
Extradead ---> what a zombie is once you've blown its brains out.
lol :D Adding it.
haha
On a more serious note, would I be right in thinking some of the longer words may start with those first five letters?
no idea yet. My longest are 8 letters and don't start with that word.
matty...the ho words - yes
hello grannie
Ho words?
nothing bigger than a 7
hey Ruby
hi dizgrannie

my lucky day!! {{hugs}} and cooee dearest sprite
where did sprite go??? * bewildered look* oh well. *shrug* maybe i'll see her tomorrow. *sob*
Good morning , everybody. We went to instant winter last night and today. Started with hail last night, and now we have a snow squall warning issued for the rest of today with 10cm (3-4 inches) on the way :(
Not that it will stay, because the ground is still too warm, but is still great fun :)

Am I being very thick? I have the first four EX words, including the 10 but cannot see the last three at all...
No you are not being dim. They are weird words.
May I please have a clue in that case? They're driving me nuts
They involve letters at the end of the alphabet
I guessed they might, given I know what the first four are...

Good morning, all! Egads! It's Gridzilla!
Yep, and until I get to know the grid these clues are beyond me right now.
hi scrab
hi judi

i had to find the te5 first

not alive + monster ending...
plural...
ty pen///would never have got that
yw...
Hi folksies, sorry I don't understand the te 11 clue. I do understand the monster part
bichon...a synonym for tight...
te 5....+ monster.....te 5 rhymes with funeral car....
The te5 is defined as concise, curt, brusque
ty Molly, rolin
terseness
exactly... ;o)
Thanks, suzy!
hello all. help with de9 pls
Suzy, those are the best clues. TY. I truly mean that.
hi Scrabs, peri, Judi pen, suzy, Molly, rolin
peri, de4, 6, 8, 8, 9
hi...
Hiya, Bich!
Suzy, I toss out free clues every so often. Babblers deserve them, especially with big grids.
I have a de4/6 and two 8's all to do with not alive. looking for the de9
and continues on after de9, de6, 7, 8, 8, 10, 5
they all come from that root
ok, still looking
I have 9 words that build on not alive
this
is
2 8's to do with not live?
great!!!!
yes rolin
oh dear... back to the grid..
that word just keeps on giving.....surprising for a "not alive" word... ;o)
Hurshy loves giant grids, especially on a weekend!
especially the morning after i passed my biology test and have a feeling of freedom!
Rolin one is monster neding the other ends like someone not telling the truth :-)
ending*
Yes, it's been a while since we've had a brain sucking grid this large.
Yay, Hurshy!
there is another de8 in that lineup it extends the de6/24
so theres 3 x de8 for not alive..got them
Time for breakfast. 178 left!
About time we had a reasonable sized grid :-)
ty all
I had a brain-draining week at work so this grid is quite relaxing.
ah, got the de9 ty
I don't understand the de clue for not telling the truth
4 de8s
i have 10 not alive words....
I have 4 de8
missing 2 of the 9's
anything particularly brain-draining that you want to talk about scrabs?
bich....it was meant as a "sounds like"...
ok stop you lot...lol
early chat says there is a re7/9 help pls
I see your de4 and raise you some zombies.
to do with the colour, peri
'morning, babblers! nice grid for a saturday!
re 9 builds on the color...
could someone clue that, the not telling the truth
^5 welki!
We have had 2 kids die in the last 6 weeks--3 yr old by drowning, 4 yr old in pick-up truck vs tractor-trailer.
oh, that is awful, Scrabbs
oh how awful! i'm so sorry.
The 4 yr old died this week. Father is in a coma and does not know yet.
when you say 'we'...scrabs??
oh man
aw scrabbs - we had a similar farming accident this week. three young sisters (11 yr old twins and 13 years old) - fell into a canola seed bin and suffocated - i don't know how you do it
Plus it is sick season and mothers become irrational about runny noses and coughing so when a kid dies the minor stuff is, well, minor.
(not similar - don't know how that word popped in there - must need more coffee)
Oh, no, welki. Terrible!! A soon-to-be father died in a similar farm accident last year.
so many fewer children die these days than they did historically, for the parents who DO lose kids, it must be even harder and harder to find support and people who understand what it's like
Welki, I am heartbroekn for those parents, for their overwhelming pain and sadness.
three kids at once..you'd be inconsolable
Hurshy, which is why so many parents see no reason to immunize their children.
for what it's worth, they're part of a very strong and caring community. but i don't know if they'll ever know a 'normal' life again
:(
No, even losing one child leaves an empty hole forever.
sorry for bringing the chat down
shudder...i haven't seen one of my kids for a year...and the other for two years.. cant wait for dec.
stats for 2nd column e, pls
I am already sad, and, welki, just open the newspaper or read CNN, real life is sad. But their are stories of goodness too.
bichon.... plural for the name of a letter....
yeah like this one this morning about a 75 year old army vet who protected a bunch of kids from a man with a knife who came into a public library yelling that he was going to kill people
EY 4/6
es5/10...plural of a letter
no TWO knifes
ty rolin
name that proper noun! painter who did like, melting clocks
dali
ding ding ding!
I always find them
:)
I might not remember where my keys are, but always remember trivia
And I saw a story of 5 elementary school boys that befriended a lonely classmate with CP--they sit with him in lunch, play with him after school, etc, and protect him from bullies. It made me tear up.
i often have trouble when other people do them. i don't know if it is because they give harder clues, or i am just not good at my own game
nice, scrabs!
BRB, I need breakfast.
ad 7/36, pls
i am indulging for breakfast today... LOTS of GRAHAM CRACKERS! (i love them!!!)
Oh Hursh, my new favorite snack food is Cinnamon Teddy Grahams.
oh i do not go for the te5s. just the classic honey maid. cinnamon would be extra indulgent tho.
Alas, they are too pricey so I only get them when they are on sale. I keep the regular grahams around to make s'mores with.
they now sell them in squares - "perfect for smores!" - i saw this and was like, because it was soooo hard to break them in half
ad 7/36, pls
i can't for the life of me think what else to try for more non-alive based words
I know Hursh. People have gotten incredibly lazy.
hursh.....do you have the one that means people who make sound softer....
i keep hoping one of these marketing trends will fail cause they've finally underestimated people
I have seven not alive words.Do not know how many there are though.
um, i have de6 and past tense 8 where you make sound softer - but that's not exactly people who
so i people who it and plural that
yes...
ok thanks!
yw...
somebody said they had 9 - was that including the root word?
the 9 is the plural of someone who...
oh....there are 10 not alive words...
the last is a plural.....
ok so one more... hmmm
got it
dumb word...
I now have 8 of them. how many more?
the one i was missing was the last 8
there are 10 in all....
Thanks.
I need one more of the not alive words then
yw...
one's a quality, using the loch monster
I have that one.
one is like, the cobra is de8 than the asp
idk if that is true i just picked some things...
That's the one. TY.
ad 7/36, pls
Don't have that one yet, Bichon.Sorry.
Past tense of to be confused
that's the 6, 7 - same first 3 plus take a break
Thank you!
Sorry, I was excited when I found the ad6
They all help, Scrabs :-)
need a break, bb in a bit
Bye for now, Flosey.
by the way, if anyone hasn't seen "the prestige", it is quite an interesting movie
no idea what brought it to mind just now...
It is nine years old that film and I still have not watched it yet..lol
it jumps back and forth in time a lot, which can be a little confusing, but, it's quite good overall
Is that the one about magic?
yes
I don't go to the movie cinema anymore--too too loud--but I will occ watch a movie at home.
yeah i had gotten it on netflix
i don't watch movies often, but that was a good one. i also liked the marigold hotel and another that, for the life of me, i can't remember it';s name
it was about another hotel - murder, a train, nutty music, artwork
who was in it?
hursh, i've been sitting here trying to think of names - i can see faces - i think william dafoe might have been in it
ah! the grand budapest hotel!
:)
thank you, hurshy - and google :D
welki that movie looked good when i saw the previews on tv. i thought the soundtrack was pretty awesome
luminosity, here i come
not sure i deserve thanks for asking who was in it, lol, but i'll take it
Time to attack the re- words.
i need 7 more R's :(
the plot could have been a lot of different movies is the real problem with it lol
it was so quirky and had very dry, but hilarious, humour - and you're right, the music was great (i think it won an award for it - an oscar i think)
i only have 7 r's
and yes, if you hadn't asked specifically, i wouldn't have been able to put the name to the face - so thank you again, hurshy *lol*
sometimes well filmed movies ie scenery types are not always good plots or scripts
just found la 7/36
Wow! Fast and fun.
You're done, gramma?
phantom: odyssey
true, mlf, but if all i want is an hour or two of entertainment, and the movie seems interesting, i'll watch it. i just have a hard time sitting still for that long
Yep and I'm off to close up the camp.
Congrats, Gramma!
I need 20 be be at halfway.
See you all tomorrow.
hi gramma - one of my kids lives in bennington - just a couple hours away
bennington!
yes!
I love New England and the Northeast in general.
does anyone have tr8?
me too - put it on the ocean and it's heaven
no, not yet, mlf
More specifically, the Adirondack Mountains are my heaven.
ty welk

Yes, people have their happy places.

I finally passed halfway! So, time for a walk to the park, then a fire in the backyard. I want to sit next to the heat.
I never log out either.

Enjoy your day, Scrabs!
A lot of people never log out. Who's Online is deceiving.
HAGD all
bye car
Very true, molly.
You too, Car.
i amgoing ot watch a college football game with hubby at noon
Just walked around a bog while dylan was at violin...it was beautiful
Sounds nice, Car. I like the violin.

Hope you enjoy it, Mlf :-)

ty zooz me too
Found a 10!
vi6
?
Nice one, Car!
woo hoo car!
congrats car
hi dan
vi 6/30 is the past tense of the vi 4/7 before it
put in a tiny bottle
hi MLF
gotta find that particular 4
the tiny science bottle
I have il4/4, stats for the other i?
il 4/9
I found an 11!
congrats again car
It is these small victories that help me make it through the day.
ty car
Same here, Car. still looking for the 12 though.
ho6 9 10 12
thank you car!
how lucky, i happen to be doing H's right now
MLF there is also a ho7 with the same root
I am on the L nest to the H lol
next*
dan ho 7/40?
aye
i have it
well i don't see a thing
wht are you looking for hurshy?
Found 'em!
those long H's
I think the HO 12 is a stretch for a word
think of your voice when you need to clear your throut
thraot
throat sorry
car doesn't seem like it should be a real word if it actually is or not?
aha, ok, so 6, 7, 9, 10, 12 ?
Thanks, Mlf :-)
yes hurshy
yw zooz
exactly
so the 11 is something else entirely?
yes
te
Yes
te 9 and 11
they go together
ah i see, same deal, i hadn't pluralled the 9
Put the loch monster on the end of the TE 5/10 before it. then pluralise for the 12
Used in a very ungrammatical sentence: Everyone had laryngitis so there was a lot of ho12 in the room.
there WERE a lot of ho12
for the 11 sorry.
there WAS a lot of ho10
just got to 200 words ..231 left
:)
Yeah, but that seems to work better with the 10 not the 12. The 12 is just dumb.
just got ne 6/7
The doctor could not deal with all the ho12 caused by the throat infection. (Still dumb)
lol
I just shouldn't be a word
sure it should - y'all just don't write like dickens, that's all
:-)
:)
wow...found all the N's. Let me know if you need any of them.
i ne4 one of them but i do not have list so you would have to guess
The only strange one in the bunch is NE 5/10 which is a plural without a single before it. All the rest are normal words with various extensions
ok thanks that helps
so besides the ho10, what are the other 10s
Dickens was a fine writer. And relevant to the time in which he wrote. But no one speaks like that anymore. (Nor should they)
I have a DE 10/84
well i still mostly read 19th century stuff so it all seems normal to me :)
it builds off a DE 4/6, 6/24, and 8/50
ex10 too
so there are ELEVEN not alive words!
Well Hursh, that is because you are a wannabe Brit. : D
Wow...I only have 6...
thank you ruru
With a grid this big, you can't trust what people say in chat about the number of a certain group of words. You really need to consult the list for accuracy.
ty ruru
let me see now if i can find one more word...
ok i have passed 90%
well done
Found the EX 10...tyvm
Does it build off the Ex 5/20?
yes
Thanks.
Found it.Thanks, Ruru & Car :-)
I have all the V's and Y's too if anyone needs one of those
i need 2 of the Y's
Just for the record, co12 is also a word. Thanks Chuck.
Is it really? How strange.

Hot water bottle is cheaper :-)
"why do we have to live in this drafty old house anyway?"
the game is supposed to be on a main channel they are showing a different game instead. the score was 7-14 Baylor is winning so far...
not really. the heat is going right out the window
and gas is costly
new windows pay for themselves

hello everyone
hi Annie
al + medicine amount
hi bichon

hi annie
kje, can I ask you a question?
damn it
hi annie
hi ruru :)
sure
kje, I had the shingles vaccine years ago, got shingles 4 years ago, not too much rash, got it again..practically no rash...I am taking Valtrex..can I also take Aleve to help with the pain
yes
have you tried tylenol?
thanks for the advice...hope this doesnt last long
can't believe all the people I know that have come down with shingles. you got it AFTER you did the vaccine annie?
Is tylenol better than Aleve?. kje
ruru, yes I had the vaccine and about a year later got shingles.
wow
tylenol doesn't work well if not taken scheduled - it doesn't work well once the pain is really high. You can take 2 extra strength tylenol 3 times daily safely (that is age adjusted) and it works well as a basal pain reliever. Than take alive as needed in addition.
I was just thinking the same thing, Ru. What is it with so many people getting shingles all of a sudden?
so much for the efficacy of that vaccine
<---Doesn't believe in vaccines
I got my vaccine at 60.. so far so good
You should not take aleve longer than two weeks. It is contraindicated in older adults for long term use
kje, thanks for the help
yw
I would do Jack Daniels and oxycodone for the pain annie.. just like everyone else around here :D
okay, kje
(note to lurkers... that was a JOKE)
ruru, I have the Jack Daniels. I have to scrounge up some oxy. Will asked high placed friends. :)
so in general, not knowing your other history (so if some reason not to use tylenol for example) I would recommend two extra strength tylenol (1000mg) three times daily until the attack is over, then aleve only as needed for pain above that
if you only have regular strength tylenol at home, you can take 3 regular strength (975mg) three times daily - scheduled, not only as needed, scheduled like a blood pressure med, etc
isn't the build up of acetaminophen bad for you too though Doc?
I gave her the recommended dose based on her age
I'm sure you're right.. but I've been reading such terrible things about Excedrin and Tylenol etc
Im okay with Tylenol. Aleve seems to work better though. Will start the Tylenol regimen.
I very rarely need anything for pain and when I do I take aspirin. Salicylic acid derived from the willow tree.
I have pain meds.. but only for headaches usually
and so, does anyone have a clue for el 6 ?
el + vowel.. plus most of not alive
that is why you should take it scheduled for a while, annie - tylenol works better to relieve pain before the p fibers are maximally firing, so it works better to prevent pain than treat it once revved up. We commonly use SCHEDULED tylenol for post op hip fracture patients after day 1 as their primary pain reliever and they do well - as long as done scheduled with something for breakthrough pain if needed
thanks
will do, kje and thanks again
I bet you're a great doctor Kje
I still have ten oxys the were prescribed after my last oral surgery that I didn't take. I'm thinking of trying to score some street cash with them if I need some extra money. *JOKE*
hope you feel better, annie - shingles truly suck
thanks, kje...once was enough....twice is overkill
I'm such a weenie with pain .. I feel for you annie
ruru, thanks for the sympathy
I have a freakishly high threshold for pain.
It was so bad I didnt babble for two days and that's sayin' sumthin.
wow.. that's something
Annie, I have heard that shingles are incredibly painful. I think it's strange that they are afflicting so many people lately. It's like The Plague.
al 6/21, pls

{{gentle hug for Annie}}

Hello Nef
ad7/36...not subtract + what you get when you lay down and take a nap (clue tailored to Car)
It's a beautiful sunshine day with gorgeous fall colors and 64 degrees here in southern Minnesota
tyvm Molly
Hi therea and car.ee
Looking Nancy....
ho6/24 i have is plural of ho514, to keep too much of something
but i'm sure there are others on this grid
There is a ho 6 & 7 combo further down on the list
that's a lot of ho's
hehehehe ruru
lol ruru
lo 5/10, pls
It's helpful if when you ask for a clue for a grid this big you indicate which word, in reference to the list, you are asking for.
car, can you clue them please
The first or second LO 5/10, Bichon?
I'm still trying to find them!!!
lo 5/10 comes after two lo 5/12's
first car
LO + L*** is usually more
ty car
lo + loch monster minus the first letter...or the **** clue Car just posted
ty Molly
Got the HO's! HO + LA 4/5 (meaning fat) ; plural for the HO 7/36
or LO and second vowel and a couple SNAKE letters
yeah for car and tyvm
not to be confused with chair letters or hump letters
Oh, those damn snake letters and hump letters
I have completed ALL of the HO words...good grief!
thank god for hump letters
that's as close as I get these days :D
that and the ho's?!
exactly
there's a sh4load of ho's
shitload is almost in the grid.. wonder if enable would accept it
think of all the points for shitloadednesses
LOL
ha!
Shitloader, shitloaders
ruru's in a comedic mood today.

And today would be different from some other day...how?
hi penq..welcome to the sanitarium

Yeah...I realized that after I pressed enter. Forgive me, I haven't been very active in the chog lately.
Scared of where Pen went to school
yeah.. they are Donald Trump's sisters
hah!
*redshoes is forgiven*
somebody picken on my bro??
I shouldn't have started this grid before noticing the size of it. Yowser! I'll never get through this one!
hi nef...
well you have another 8 hours net ;)
Hi pen, how are you today?
*nef
everyone here will tell you grid size doesn't matter nef
fine thanks....just got back from the opera....
re 6/24, second and third pls
therea; do you really think DH would leave me alone long enough to finish this grid?
did you walk there and back Penq. I hope you got some fresh aria
<groan> ruru, that's bad!

haven't listed yet, bichon....no idea which one you seek....probably ones i don't have....
hahaha, ru.....

you are a smooth opera-tor, ru....
LOL!
therea, your spell check is possible correcting it (I am very familiar with that problem myself)
re 5/14, third one pls
I'm sure it softened pen up today.. in a sense tenorizing her mood
up, i am tenorized!.....
bichon...i only have one!
To not subtract again and what your face does when you blush

re 7/32, pls
ahhhh...thanks Molly. I got confused as well.
our neighbors across the street are having their annual outdoor party with live music. not so bad now but not good when you are trying to sleep and it goes on a long time
thank goodness it is only once a year.
hi all
re 7....i have state of being a certain color....
re 7/32, pls

i want to get down to 100 before i list....need one more....
Sounds like a fun party.
ty pen
we were not invited so not much fun for us having to deal with the music
thx pen that was a 3 for the price of 1 hint!
my bedroom is in the back of the house
I am stuck with 165 left
yw, blah....
It's kind of hard to clue, or ask for clues with a grid this big if you haven't looked at the list.
very true!...i found my one word, so i have just listed to find the last 100....
One word?
yes, i wanted to get down to 100 before i listed...a personal goal, you might say....
Oh, I can't keep up with all the "personal goals" here
i can make a spreadsheet of personal goals if we need it
you don't have to....my rules are flexible....goals change depending on the size of the grid....with a big one, i don't want to be working on it all evening....
You don't have to, Molly; they are our own goals; not yours
and also personal rules for playing
ty, blah!....lol.....
e.g. not listing until a certain percentage is reached...
I try to get at least 1/2 done each day and 1/2-2/3 before I go to the list.
ouuu!.....i found out that there is an 11th not living word....
had missed that one!
I only have 10 of those, will look
oh dear. I only have 3 not living words.
11 not living words? Yikes!!
there are definitely 11....
up to 6 now
I don't need a spreadsheet of personal goals. And I don't need to keep up with them, I know they are other people's goals, not mine. My comment was due to the fact that I didn't understand Pen's post about "one". But thanks for all the input.
stuck at 7
did you add the monster syllable?
my personal favorite - de7/36. hard to imagine...
yep have the not living monster
how about to mute sound?....there are four of those words....
plural that, blah
ah thx! nonsensical but good for a tenner!
re 5/10, second one, pls
to turn on the lamp again?
pt...
ty
11 zombie words! ding ding ding!
damn, I do not see the 11th one
peri would that be the 1st of 11 or 11th of 11?! ;)
I don't know, not listed yet
one is a comparative word.....and one is a simple plural of the root word....
jk…assuming you have the 1st as it is the root
2 are comparative, more and most
I have the first and the last I have is the de10
you are missing the last....i just clued it....
wait 3 are comparative
I have 3 comparative. I will list soon, down to 138 left, but was out most of the day. I do not want to sit here all night.

121 left here and I am getting tired
lol...yes perry its a long haul with this grid
love your icon pic of her.
all-day kindergarten has been an adjustment, but she loves school while she's there
finally got the last de8!
wow, all day? that's a long haul for a little kid.
Do you still call her Button?
most little kids are in daycare/preschool all day nowadays
I can understand daycare and preschool, but kindergarten use to be the first step to real school...with teachers and big kids!
true, it was for me…as i recall we still got put down for naps in kindergarten. that's how long ago it was lol
i have no idea what it is like now…are they filling out college applications?!?! ;)
wish we could put down for naps at work
i know right? mid-afternoon zzzzzzz
would help for the longer days for sure lol
at Patagonia, you can leave work to go surfing....
oh nice!
wonder when 'power naps' become 'nana naps' ?
there is rest time for miss2bit, but they shorten the time as the year goes on & the kids adjust.
they do push them to achieve a lot that used to wait until 1st grade, but I am not worried there on her part
her teacher is awesome - 3rd year at the school, so knows the ropes but not yet burned out :-)
FW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay Une!
hey lynxxx ;-)
congrats!
back at the flip :-)
i am down to 24...
YAY, Une!!! WTG!!!

re 6/21, pls
any hints for the 10s, 11 and 12?
add ammunition again, bichon

1 of the 10's is an extension of not alive; I haven't an idea what the others are
TY Nef!

ok
re 6/21, pls
dan2 clued the re6/21
yes i was responding to bonkler....
(at 5:04)
ty dan
TY Penquis, monkeying away now
yw....
Nice to see those imaginary monkeys still get their credit
they are like slave labor...
No, not really. It's just you, finding words that don't seem to make sense in your vocabulary.
does it matter, Molly? it's fun to enjoy our imaginary monkeys slaving away, isn't it?
Oh dear, I thought my monkeys were real!
No Nef, it doesn't matter. Not at all.
Someone keeps eating the bananas, lol
1 ten and the eleven down, monkeys going crosseyed
got the 12 and another 10... monkeys panting for air
There's a lot of stuff we say here that is just plain old fun. The penalty box actually became a semi-real *place* once upon a time; the monkeys *help* us type nonsense words; the cabana boys just are all figments of our collective imaginations. That is part of what Babble is & was to many people; it's just a fun thing to chat about.
What are the stats for the 11 please
WTG, bonkler! I'll have to list before I find them I think
te 11/88....
well i went through the list and i still have to go back for my last 10....
Thanks pen, looking....
thanks pen
think monster again...
Thanks, that did it
Only 242 more words to find :)
Yes Nef, I've been around here for quite a while. I know about all that stuff. And I think it's all in good fun. I just never really got the monkey thing. But hey, if it works for some people, so be it.
down to 6!
Go pen!
Go, go pen! You can do it!
i think the monkeys are an extension of the infinite number of same that would eventually reproduce shakespeare, my take anyway
i think using monkeys is another way of saying that one is trying to finagle words out of letters that don't seem to mean anything....
question.....do the last three ex words start with the same prefix?
i don't think they do....
Sorry, pen, I don't have them all yet
i will now stop punching in 'u' words.... d'oh!
No Pen
ty molly....
to monkey around (to finagle something) is a common term, not just here. Related to mcguyver i believe ;)
I found myself doing that earlier too bonkler
Thank you blah, I understand the definition. It is not used that way here though. People post like there are monkeys typing for them and they are feeding them bananas.
therea, I didn't know that. Thanks

You're very welcome, Molly. I don't read it the way you do, at all.
Don't know who mcguyver is. I thought the same as bonkier with the shakespeare connection
To each their own
Anyway, who cares?!?! It's an online word game, we
we're having fun.
Whee!!!!
Don't know if I'd call this grid fun - daunting springs to mind 😞
The chat is fun though
It's tedious. I'm finding that I don't really like the huge grids.
i am done....
Me neither
Woowoo, congrats pen!!!!
If another 700 plus grid shows up I am not even going to start.
i actually liked this grid....lots of word families....easier than i thought it would be...
it is all supposed to be fun. no need to pick at it. if it is not your thing then do not join in.
ty!
Well done, Penquis!!!!
very busy grid:)
Chrissie - McGuyver was a popular tv show here (US) in the 80's, i believe. The central character was famous for finagling solutions. Thus the faux verb 'mcguyver'
Molly, I don't know you at all or anything about you. I do like your input and help and often I enjoy your comments in chat; but sometimes it appears as though you are very sarcastic or you make a lot of passive aggressive comments and some people are offended by them.If it bothers you about comments about monkeys (or whatever; ignore them
I loved McGuyver :)
Thanks blah
me too crossy!
YAY, penquis!!! WTG!!!
ty!
No Nef, I just made a comment about the monkey thing. And if you want passive aggressive, look to some of the other posters here. I am straight up and say what I think. Nothing passive aggressive about me.
I can't remember the actor's name, altho I can picture him...hope he gets a royalty every time someone uses mcguyver as a verb ;)
Sorry molly, but I agree with Nef
Not surprised about that at all, Chrissie.
We used to have a laugh till you turned on me
I agree as well. Sorry
st 6/18, pls
st of Gibraltar
Kids, I've seen the comments you make in the email gossip line. None of you are sorry. But thanks for making it sound like you are.
ty blah
well chat works both ways....if one doesn't like a comment, ignore it....
Kids?!?!
thanks there, I was drawing a blank on an example
true pen
What is the email gossip line?
i have no idea
this is true, penquis, but we end up with a once vibrant chat empty with 90% lurkers
so clearly my comments have not appeared there, lol
Also true crossy
it's possible to have more than one conversation going here....see that all the time....
I don't really want to get involved, but I do agree
i think i will leave it as well now, but had to agree and not let the others stand out there after voicing a valid opinion.
yes but there's no need for snark just because others play the game differently
i agree with you crossy
184 to go. Starting on the O's now
yaa for chrissie
:)
and molly, what you don't seem to get is that what you say often puts down other players
Good job I moved on from needing to finish!
go, Chrissie!
And I'm almost halfway, 4 until i get there...
:)
wow, nef.....go!
I have a long way to go on this grid:)
yay chrissie! i am miles away

You can do it bichon! You're so close to FW!
It has all melted now, chrissie, but we had 2 inches on the ground at one point :)
YUK, crossy!!
Just a reminder for everybody to get their winter tyres ready
The migrating geese are here early from Russia so it's predicted that the bad weather will follow soon
That sounds like a line from a corny spy film, lol
We are getting ready to send all our geese down to Florida :)
Are you packing their bags :)
lol. They can poop on our snowbirds to remind them of home :)
Time for me to call it a day. Night all
Good Night Crissie! Sleep well
Wife went to Largo many years ago. her parent had a little place down there that they wintered at. She said it was horrid. sirens going 24/7 and a fine coating of soot over all the outdoor furniture every morning.
gn Chrissie
sirens and soot in Florida?
DN, peri, I have never been there. just what the Mrs said
though with the temp at around 75F, she had the pool to herself:))
I have never been to Florida so far. DH & I have always thought we'd travel after retiring; but he seems to get sick almost every time we plan to go. At least we had a nice trip this past August (with our son & grandson along)
I am sure there are amazing parts of Florida, but this apparently was not it. :)
several of my friends and one cousin have retired to florida
i want to see Maine. More of a woods fella than a beach fella :)
21 left and tired of sitting here
head out east here and just dip down for a bit
in a lodge in the mountains here in WV - cold and windy and had snow today on and off - but enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace and just looking outside

Howdy, teach :)
hello crossy
Hi teach. It was beautiful here today; sunny and around 60 degrees. My grandson was here & we picked milkweed se 5/12; I took thethem off the fluff and he had a blast letting the fluff fly in the breezes
had snow here as well, teach
watched the leaves being blown off the trees along with the snow - but this is up in the estern mountains of WV - two ski areas within 10 miles of here

husband is here for a conference - i just sat in front of the fire and enjoyed chatting and knitting - and on the computer babbling

Oops. But not a word.
clue for te 9/54 an te11
lol. I went back to a old pay- as -you-go phone I had sitting in the kitchen junk drawer. tossed a new sim card in it, activated it and put time on it --all for 30 dollars. what i am not used to yet is having 5 days of power instead of running out in half-a day on an I-phone :)
sorry, Matches, I don't have them
the quality of being te5/10
TE 5,9 , 11 - 9 and 11 have scottish lake suffix
ty teach got both of them
streak remains unbroken
thank you teach. Took me a while; but (once again) those are words that I've never heard or used before. (are they that arkane or am I just not reading the right books?)
i have heard TE 5 - byt many scottish lake suffixes today - new to me
I have heard & used te 5 before; just not the whole scottish lake ending on it either, teach
Good morning all - 76 to go.
any clues for the 11 or 12? ty.
ho 12 - plural. Your voice might sound like this if you have a cold.
The end bit contains the Scottish lake monster
Hi and thanks, Lizlin.

Hello again
Morning, Lyn
nice grid for the weekend
Certainly is - even with having gone out last night.
hey lyn
hi Owl...all over your migraine/headache?
ty for asking. i don't get migraines. it is a head cold or sinus thing
Hope you feel better soon, TO
Happily I have not any sinus issues - they are agonising from what others say
however, i am doing reviews and the bad acts i am listening to will eventually make my head hurt. :)
