hi all, happy Halloween to those who note such things. :D
we're always ready for the shellout but don't expect any kids now that the young tots next door have moved away
*plans to trick and treat at flosey's*
lol, you can help me eat it - I always get the kind I like
i am so sad...
whassup Sammy?
oh S'smom, why
we don't usually have anything to do with Halloween, but this year our 15 yr old g/dtr dressed as a ghost and gave lollies to the 3 kiddos next door who all have varying types af autism - they thought it was fantastic.
for the first time in my life, we will not be giving candy out from my house... our neighborhood has changed so and there are so few small children , and with wakter 1 being so frail we feel that it is nit a wise thing to do
ah.. best to keep safe then sammy
yup
i'll give out extra candy here for you
we will have a little family thing with all of the great grands in the afternoon and then they will go to events or parties... no door to door any more
thanks ru.. appreciate it
not seeing any 8's or 9's
I only have two 8's nan and one 9
they are hidden
I have no small children around either so we do trunk or treat in the church parking lot it is a lot of fun.
hidden from me certainly

I sure don't see the el 8

good morning all
{{hugs}} and good morning sweetie. can only stay for a few minutes. dinner nearly ready. xoxox
hello my dear friend *hugs* Enjoy your dinner :)
and here it is. bbs
and back. how are you, honey?i have had a quiet day, only did a little pile of folding and sorting of clean washing.
that was quick.Yay you for taking it easy today. Are you feeling ok?
yup. i'm okay. i still can't slow down when eating. *sigh*
lol. Give it time... you will learn. I am sick :( Coughing, fever, pain all over, general feeling of YUCK. And couldn't keep my food down yesterday.
sounds like the flu
did you have your flu vax this year?
some cold virus probably.
yeah got my shot6
and my love is rather fed up with being a caretaker... can't handle an additional sickness like this. So I am on my own, sigh.
pffft, tell him to step up to the mark right swiftly. and what about when you have been so sick and still taken care of him and the kids and the house?
I know. Seems they don't realise. They don't volunteer any help and when I ask, I get attitude. So I don't ask, can't handle much attitude when feeling so lousy. But I think next time one of them is ill... you get the idea.
yeah i know. but you are the mum and wife....
yeah... so probably I will take care of them anyway... we mothers/wives are weird creatures, aren't we?
absolutely....so long as you know that how you are feeling is quite okay.
yeah :) Had a fight with my love over this yesterday. Can't make him see. Makes me feel lousy. *insert pistol on temple and POOF*
what a pity, sprite. you really shouldn't have to fight for your right to be looked after when you are unwell.
yeah. It isn't the first time though. So for now, I am gonna accept it as is, don't have the energy to spare to fight it. It is just a severe cold, nothing serious, so it will pass :)
fireflies. *hugs* my darling. Am back to bed for now. Sleep well :)
{{hugs}} my darling. hope you feel better soon. xoxox WTG SPRITE!!!
Good morning!
Hello, ((Ruby))
{{zzoozz}}
things are looking up here! I may have succeeded in getting husband into the best (private) nursing home in Annecy. I'll know more next week.
Oh that is good news, Ruby. I hope he will settle nicely in there. I also hope it helps you to get yourself fit and well :-)
Actually, he settled in very well at the temporary place. Everybody likes him as he is very sweet during the day. It is only the nights that are the problem, when he gets agitated and falls a lot
He walks a lot, with and without his walker, and seems to be a favorite of the crazy old ladies
Then I am sure it will be the same for this new place!
That must take a load off your mind knowing that he can settle into other places. How about yourself? How are you?
The gov't people are being wonderful to me. From what my friends here say, it is unusual for them to be so nice
Then take it while it lasts lol.
I'm OK but struggling a little. The pain is under control most of the time, but the cancer will probably have to be treated as a chronic disease, rather than a curable one.
Try and ask for all the help you can get, Ruby. No point in just coping when there is help out there to make it easier for you. There must be organizations who help people with this type of illness?
Yes, zzoozz, believe me when I say that |I ask for and receive lotsof help, both from agencies and friends.
When a neighbor offers to help, I accept
((Ruby)) Excellent I told you you were strong! Now time to try and get better day by day!
Of course there will be lots of times when you do not feel like being strong but then talking to friends helps even if it is babble friends!!
I feel very lucky!
you (as in people) make your own luck most of the time so it is only what you make it to be. You have worked hard at this and you will come out better as a result of your determination, Ruby.
Thank you for your kind words.
I don't feel like a strong person, but more like a talented juggler
Life is a juggling act, Ruby, we are all constantly juggling with Children..homes...food...bills..insura\nnce...holidays...birthdays...cars...il\nlnesses...bills...other people...bills...etc it is how you cope with all these things that makes you a strong person :-)
Sorry for the delay the babble freeze swallowed my posts into a void!
Oh I am very sorry I seem to have made the chat box all skewed!!
Not sure how? I did not post any links?
Looks like, Ruby , has gone anyway :-(
Hi Zoom. When you post one big long phrase, with no spaces, the chat expands. Your post with the "..." instead of periods and spaces was the culprit. : D
aha. I had the red boxes
Hello, Molly
Hi Ruby
Ah Thanks for letting me know, Molly. I will remember that in future!
It is a coding error that inserts that \n after 30 or so characters in a row with no space. (Not sure exactly how many, I've never counted)
Well I will not be doing that again lol
See you la***, kids, need to lie down
Bye for now, Ruby :-)
Not a problem Zoom. The chat flushes it eventually.
tela
whoops
tela
Hey! I thought you were going?
lol
It's the meds, sorry
Gone!
Yeah yeah heard that before :-)
It's Halloween on a Saturday here, so a big party night.
I like your halloween icon, Molly!
Yes as it being on a Saturday I can see it being very busy tonight with all the door kKnocking that will be going on!
In the Pagan/Celtic tradition is Samhain, the day on which we welcome the darkness of the year.
A festival of the dead.
Or Summers end. I think that sounds less morbid lol
Well, I prefer to think of it as the time in which we turn within and cultivate the self. Much the same as the Earth goes to seed and cultivates itself for Spring
Although there is merit in honoring the Ancestors
I sometimes wonder how the ween got hallo?
alec
It is a combination word of All Hallows Een. Een being an older word for eve.
The Pagans and the Celtic have great respect for those who came before them.
I keep seeing words that are one letter short of being actually there
I have always had respect for my elders. It is a shame that seems to be disappearing.
<---Making idle chit chat to flush the chat
All flesh is grass
abet
Isaiah 40:6
Yes it still has a way to go though, Molly :-(
The original jack-o-lanterns (made from turnips, not pumpkins) were made to ward off evil spirits on All Hallows Eve
Well at least you could hollow out a lot more being much smaller :-)
I can not make my writing go underneath like yours,Molly?
Use ctrl+return or shift+return Then you can make poetry style lines
I will try and see If I can Make
Enter or back space?
I am feeling dense here lol
Floppity flappity flip the mouse went round the mobius strip The strip revolved The mouse dissolved In a chrono dimentional skip Shift + enter
Hello Ah I got It. I did CTRL & En5 And that Did not work.
Oh I did like your little poem, Matty!
:D I've known it since uni days - way back when
And thank you for telling me how to do the poem style Text :-)
Do not did sorry :-)
Probable, possible my black hen She lays eggs in the relative when She doesn't lay eggs in the positive how Because she's unable to postulate how
an 7 plz
Shift + return is easier then you can make your lines of chat shorter
Oh, Matty I really like them. Is there somewhere I Can find more?
Sorry, Ivesy, I do not have that one :-(
Probably - but I don't have a link off hand. Back when I was at uni in 1985 we had VAX/UNIX machines (made by Tektronix, hark). When you typed 'fortune' into the command prompt, it gave you little gems such as those two
i have thr book but i'm not at home and can't remember title. those 2 are the best ones. will find on monday
np zoo
actually, just google first line

Hello, Sukee :-)
Hi zoo.
The chat is flushed! Long live the flush handle!
ty molly!
LOL
Never let it be said that useless, and irrelevant to most people, Celtic Halloween trivia doesn't come in handy sometimes. : D
that's the one zoos
Thank you, Jayk. I will order it from amazon.
I have been spoiled by Amazon. Their shipping is freakishly fast. I ordered from another vendor recently and my item took over two weeks to get to me.
A. E. Housman wrote a lot of that type of poem I just found out by google.
I ordered a book from amazon and it was with me the very next day.I was amazed!
Most items on Amazon ship very fast. They really have cornered the market on the quick ship thing.
Most of their prices are hard to beat as well. I had dropped my prime membership because I felt like 99 dollars a year was too much. But they ran a special for 67 dollars so I renewed again.
Jayk Or Matty. Here is a link that gives you many more lyrical poems by A.E Housman if you are interested. Just click on the links on the page and it gives you them.
http://tinyurl.com/28dd9h
Ta - thank you!
Most welcome :-)
I agree, Molly. They are very very good.
If you ever have a problem with Amazon, be sure to let them know. I have gotten many a 5 or 10 dollar gift bonus by doing so.
Oh! I did order a book by Angie Sage from amazon but when it arrived it was in German. There was no indication on the front cover that it would be in a different language. And i being in the UK was expecting it to be in english. I sent it back and got a replacement. But no gift card/bonus :-(
You need to send a note to customer service. They usually apologize for the error and throw in a gift bonus of some sort. I even got my Prime membership extended for one year once.
Oh now that is a gold nugget of information.I will put that into my memory banks for next time. Many thanks!
Finally made it to half way.
Oh gosh I have been chatting at looking at links so much I have only gotton 76 words!
Off to have some breakfast :)
And not at
Enjoy your breakfast, Sukee :-)

can we please reclue the word entirely?
lol
si7/32 - si + 1st 3 of head pest li4/5 + last 2 of the frozen thing
first 3 of not gold, and ending of the long thin icy hangings from eaves
I saw that word in morewords but its not working in the grid

ty Uneaixoise!
yw :-)
what the hell is that an7?
the br7 ends with US spy agency, and if you double the consonant in that, then, you should be able to get it
off to pick up rescue pup . . . meeting driver near Loretta Lynn's ranch :-) byeeeee
bye une.. save travels
did Loretta lynn do stand by your man?
Apparently an7 is another name for an aardvark
to use a babble word... i am a NONFAN of this grid
wow.. who knew
not finding that a 7 either
No, Tammy Wynette
I"ve never seen the an 7 before
oh..
I get my country singers mixed up
i've just realized that when i try to picture what an aardvark looks like, the best i can do is Arthur
And The Blues Brothers : D
I loved the blues brothers
too funny
what a band they had
Minnie the moocher
she was a low down hoochie coocher
The movie is my favorite. I have that "Jesus H tap dancing Christ, I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT" scene cued up for whenever I need a laugh
that was great in the movie too.. love cab calloway
i love the jeeves and wooster bit with that song
clue for the an 7, please?
picnic pest + yogi
just clued below nan
Clue for an7 at 11:34

Oh, ever the succint typist you, Hursh
yogi is a smart clue
ty une and molly
smarter than the average clue, you might say
and hurshy
and ruru
Or succinct
br 7/44, pls

that's a word I rarely use.. succinct
br + vowel + last 4 of fo* bread (type of flat bread)
nobody is laughing at my yogi joke :(
I don't know what it is with expert, but I never see my icon changes -- hope you do
my phantom today was etcetera
nope.. same icon nan
that's two words, et cetera
oh.. really?
yeah
not according to the dictionary
it's supposed to be a pumpkin - probably changed it after you logged in
well then i guess it has become acceptable as one word in these latter frivolous days
probably spelled both ways now hursh
ty blah
because et is latin for and, and cetera is latin for... whatever it's latin for...
I see the pumpkin. Expert has a million flaws in it.
cetera means remaining in latin
et cetera means "and other things"
I am loving taking it easy today
et is "and" in Latin, as in "et tu Brute"..."and you Brutus"
I would love to be able to take it easy on the weekend. Alas, that is the time I have to cram in everything I can't get done during the week when I'm at work.
ce 6/21, second one, I put in centai, but Babble wouldn't take it. Anyone know what it is
nm, found what it is
ce4/5 + mr. gore
change last vowel to cons
ty blah
need the first ce 6

*puts up flosey count on the chalk board*
ohohoh ce9 was one of my biology words!
what does it mean hursh?
hurshy clue please?
it's a structure in the cell that lines up in a certain way for doing meiosis
ce4/5 + last 5 of red bird
start with middle and end with spanish cheer
ce 9 is the offspring between pennies and Baltimore birds :D
that might as well be greek hursh, lol
i never did do well in the science classes
ty ruru
ty
I hate these c words
just need the first 3 cl's and no ideas
singlular plural
cl4/ and 5
i have CE 9, EL9, and LE 9 - which 9 am i missing?
I think part of the reason I enjoyed our trip so much is that I didn't struggle with unheard of words for 6 weeks
all related, sounds like word for priest or minister
br 9
lol - a very welcome break Nan
nan that probably reduced your stress significantly!
no cleric, so am lost
change the last consonant

Hey, I saw Al Pacino in the new David Mamet play this week. He was amazing, but the play still needs work.
oohhh cool! :-)
you know, I think one of if not THE favorite role of Pacino, for me, was in Angels in America -- he was just phenomenal
I love him in just about everything. But this play, which is in previews, is just a showcase for his talent. Only two characters in the play. He's on the phone a lot with various different people, going through different emotions... all over the place. I think the play will probably get panned, but it was a thrill to see him live!
I can imagine -- lucky you! :-)
And yes, he was phenomenal in Angels in America.
good to see you, dorens -- back in a mo

hello all ((bugs))
hey stiddy :-)
Hey stid. My annoyance is at a party so I am glad to speak up to old friends again
bon soir, chere une -- comment ca va? et les chiens?

rofl... poor bugs!
only had one set of 3 kids here hor Halloween this year. I give up.
thanks for the br
no kids at all here -- will take my candy to the guys at our soup kitchen on Tuesday :-)
we didn't get any, wasn't really expecting any though so didn't have any candy to waste
next year I will get 5 large chocolate ba** and hope no one comes at all.
oops, mean thanks for the be. A little tired today!
i always buy some "just in case" LOL
soup kitchen is a good idea Une. I give mine to the kids I tutor but they already have so much.
we are too far off the beaten path, and even the newest neighbors apparently went elsewhere. :-)
My son and his girlfriend have moved to their own house now so all is quiet here.
I take lots of snacks to the guys in the kitchen and the ones who set up and take down the tables and chairs :-)
Yes, it used to be about being outside at night but it was a neighbourhood thing. Now it is about greed so the kids bypass our house to get to all the duplexes in the subdivision down the road.
yep, I agree, bugs -- it's not much good
here in Nashville most kids now go to parties or to the mall -- all the stores hand out candy
aahh and add a vowel to the be7 for an 8
stores in town do that here too Une but it never looks like much fun for the kids. They are just in a live taking treats, not interacting with us old folks about their costumes and how wonderful they look.
i agree -- doesn't look like much fun
when I drove home last night through the small town I teach in, the kids and their families were all out promenading. The cuteness overload was so intense! I didn't have any holiday-specific nonsense in the classroom, but in deference to the distractedness of the kids kicked it up a bit in the classroom Thurs and Fri (and will finish Monday) a unit on BATS! :-D
clue for ce9 please?
I think the kids honestly had a lot more fun, and felt greatly relieved to know they were safe and at least one thing was normal, ie, grumpy old Mrs. S!
:-)
same first 5 letters of the word before it + ending of a kind of bird or baseball team, or****
merci bugs!
glad you got that. I was not sure if it was clear enough
tx bugs
orpelicans
damn it
there are some truly weird words in here
hey ruru
nice to see you again
hi bugs
hello ruru
hi stid
love that baseball team of the pelicans
well.. it was a stab in the dark
do you have a house yet ruru?
no.. not yet.. looked at one Friday.. but no yard
there isn't much on the market right now.
dogs and their boys need a yard. Are the prices coming down as you had hoped? lots of people wait until spring so their homes look more cheerful
prices have leveled out.. but there is multiple offers on homes driving up prices
hmmm. not the most hoped for scenario
I hope you are happy enuff where you are now
exactly
it's ok.. I'm comfortable where I am.. I can be patient
nice. I was wondering if you were worried about the whale watching boat that flipped near Tofino. It was a refit and was WAY too top heavy.
no.. not really.. but it is sad that people lost their lives.
i'll investigate our boat a little more though.. just in case :D
Of course I'd give you and saanich my life jacket
it is so sad but that company does not have a good safety record. Mr Bugs has already okayed the boat you want to ride on.
oh good.. he'd know better than anyone
you mean you wouldn't have a moral dilemma over which one of us gets it? A clue that my first husband would eventually become my first husband was when he said he would give it to his mother and hope for the best with me
I would rescue the other :D
ever the diplomat. You are a quick thinker
I rescued a guy in a lake in Oregon once
he'd been drinking and tipped his canoe over
well done ruru! Does he still send you presents?
it is hard to get back into a canoe, especially when there is only one of you and you have been drinking. You did a good thing
no.. he staggered off with his family who did nothing but watch him almost drown
my mother would say They deserve each other.
I don't even remember them saying thanks
I am finally done and need a cup of tea. Does anyone need any bad clues before I go?
hello bugs and ru
how sad. hey Dorens
hi doren
decaf tea?
ok, hugs all round to everyone I missed and all lurkers
i need a clue for re6/21 please
