have a hard time believing si4/11 is a word
it's archaic for viscous, related to seize.

Santa's in the grid!!
good morning all
Morning sprite!
hiya matty! You are right, it is a Xmas grid :) How are you today?
I'm ok - worried a bit at how much there is left to do before both our daughters come - cranberry sauce, smoked mackerel pate, sausage rolls, a trip into Richmond to swap a shirt...crazy crazy! How about you? All ready for festivities?
we are not really celebrating. Not much to prepare, just shopping groceries. I hope you can do all that and still be in shape to enjoy your days!
Having said that, I am still in bed ;) We did all the grocery shopping yesterday (it was like the end of days in Tesco yesterday)
yeah I know, people go crazy when the stores close for a day. Especially for Xmas.
And I'm listening to this at the moment: https://goo.gl/ziyBo3 (I am a Jethro Tull fan)
And I am not progressing well on the grid
oh wow, sounds good
It's a good song ;)
sounds piraty!
Hah!
I had trouble getting started, then got into the groove until 50 left. Now it is slow going.
The grid really isn't flowing for me. I feel like I should see -ize and -ise words, but they're not popping out at me
I hear ya... my phantom is agonise/nize.
Do you have stats for any Y or any Z?
Ooh, got a Z
Got both the Zs now
good job
Have you any stats for any Y?
yi4/7
Thank you! I now have nbt, though nothing bigger than a six

I just heard that the entire Beatles catalog is going to be available for streaming, I think today.
sorry to admit, but never was a big beatles fan. some good songs mind you, but never a big follower/fan.
But it is good to know when I have the urge to hear a certain song I can :)
that's true, never thought of that. I certainly don't use the computer as much as I could for entertainment. Music is usually in my head without outside influence.
too bad Santa is not accepted :)
I just got new wireless speakers and trying Spotify premium for 3 months for $1.99.
Oh well, last column blanked out.

woot, sukee!
It is great. It is the size of an iPhone but has amazing sound.
I picked them up on Cyber Monday with the money my sister had sent me for my birthday. Saved $40.
I'm amazed at the size of things today. tiny little things putting out sound or images to beat the band! just amazing.

I would think there would be even more to say about a goose!
As for Alzheimer's, my mother was in denial as well. It took a call from the neighbors to clue my sister and I in to how bad my Dad had gotten.

To be honest, I don't have Alzheimer's and I have trouble with names of people. . . even close friends. . .

at one of my barbecues I tried once again to bake and my guests told my son to tell me to throw it out! it was that bad!!!! haha no skills
TY for ad clue
yw mlf dumb word. . . .
yw scrabs
what does a british drink mean besides tea?
that is what it means mlf :)
i was being coy since its plural is in the grid
oh coffee or milk will do:)
apparently the ad5 means the inner sanctum. . . .
i make a mean cup of joe. . . milk and sugar are on the counter. . .
milk is fine

i was bored but i came to babbleland to play. . . not as wild and crazy as when we had the hottub parties and cabana boys. . . . but better than just sitting. . .
clue pls?
lots of company tomorrow scrab?
It's not seize, is it?
there add a vowel to the 4 before it at the end
i need to make my corn bread for the dressing for tomorrow. . .
we still need to bake cookies and pies for tomorrow...
and wrap presents...
and fill stockings...
I am bringing food to my mother's home in the morning, so I will cook it soon, then heat it in the morning and bring it up.
latin plural scrabs
how does xmas creep up on us every year, lol
everyone comes to my house on Christmas. . . pretty much everything else happens at my sisters. . . .
I have to wrap presents too, visit 5 homes tomorrow, and I would like to visit a critically ill kid and her family in the PICU tomorrow at the CHildren's Hospital.
but even when i plan the dinner my sister decides i need some of this and that which i didn't plan and we end up with too much food since she eats like a bird. . . .
you are a good human to do that scrab
we don't do anything for xmas
True, blah
you are a saint scrabs dear. . .
not a partaker mlf?
does anyone have all 4 as words?
I just feel an obligation, for the parents. The kid has been on a ventilator since 12/13. Horrible accident.
I would be if my husband would be
how sad. . .
we hardly have anyone to send xmas cards too
oh how awful
23 months old--she drank kerosene before the grandmother filled the stove.
I love xmas
scrab eww
oh Lord, how awful
that is terrible scrab. . . is she an only child?
Just awful,so bad. The kid then inhaled the fumes, passed out, then vomited and aspirated kerosene. So she has chemical pneumonitis.
There is a 4 yr old brother.
the grandmother must feel terrible also
my husband said he saw a funeral van and car drive by a few hrs ago
i do it for myself mlf. . . when the boy moved out and didnt come home one year i didn't get a tree at first but then it looked so forlorn to me i bought and decorated one at the last minute. . . .
there was a funeral at the arminian orthadox church this morning. . . it will make christmas rough for a long time for someone. . .
certainly puts things in perspective when my biggest worry is when to bake cookies :(
we cant financially do some things. we have a fake tree and one that lights up but cat likes to eat it or attempt to do so
so true blah
my mom put up a tree and isn't even spending xmas at her house
I would send you a paper tree to put in your window if I could!
mc my cat would love it!
The Mercy Flight helicopter was in a farmer's field on my way home from work this afternoon.Turns out a guy working on a roof fell off and was being airlifted north to Buffalo.
or maybe a wreath would be better *gets out green and red construction paper and sissors*
jmc we have one but apparently hubby didn't think about nor did I(thinks we may still have it?)
life goes on or not regardless of the names and customs we place on days. . . . I remember my first Christmas without my hubby, . . actually new years was harder. . . .
it's not too late mlf!
halfway!
wtg harry

my husband says my mom is always welcome here but he didn't mention it to her and we don't do anything for it so.....
it's ea** to let these things slip pass. . . .
jmc my dad hasn't not been gone that long either..
*listening to Marcus Mumford's sweet singing voice*
if i left myself to my own devices i would almost never leave the house and speak to people. . . i invite people over and force myself to go do things so that I can stay alive and lively (but not baby alive!)
I am highly introverted too, jm. I would live alone in the forest if I could.
living alone in the forest sounds really really nice.
I'm quite fond of nuts and berries
I agree that if I lived alone, I would decorate for Christmas. And not in this lifetime, nor any of my other lifetimes, would a man tell me how to keep Christmas.
Have you always been that way, jm?
yes. . .believe it or not i am actually very shy. . . but i can overcome that if I need to . . .if there is a structure like a speech. . . but I am terrible at parties and informal events. . . .
living alone in the city is for me. . . .haha. . . i am clearly a very confusled person. . .
Introverts hate small talk--such a waste of time and energy. We are deep thinkers.
No, you know what you need/want.
*puts on thinking cap*
I'm awful at parties and small talk. It is such a valuable skill though.
most of the time scrabs! haha
I panic in urban settings.
me too. I have had to consciously work on making small talk at gatherings (without overserving myself to compensate)
I still would rather email than talk on the phone, unless it's a very short call to make plans e.g.
my hubby was fabulous at it. . . i was envious. . . if we went to a function with 100 strangers he would leave with 95 close friends and 5 acquaintances. . . i would leave with an acquaintance if i was lucky!
i LOVE texting blah. . .
and emails. . .
I have learned to let other people talk about themselves. I sort of interview other people. I find it fascinating to act like a psychiatrist with people. That is how I relax in party settings.
I'm not a chatterer...when I see people out for walks or errands with a cell glued to their ear I can't fathom what (or how much) they have to talk about
yes texting too, esp. for making plans or checking in
Introverts prefer writing over talking--we need time to prepare our words.
I have forced myself to be better about it because saw too many people alone just fade away. . .
good point scrabb, most people love to talk about themselves!
and yet i give great extemporaneous talks scrabs. . . as long as i have total control of the microphone i am fine!
yes, and to make sure we have the absolutely precise word called for... :)
gotta go make supper. 52 to go!
Yes, blah, I need to edit my writing.
bye harry. . .
here i am (she says with no modesty whatsover) http://tinyurl.com/huswt6n
i gave that talk with no notes. . . and only one or two sentences make me wince. . . haha
I've gotten better, but I used to agonize and craft lengthy emails responses that really required 1-2 words lol
haha brevity is the soul of wit!
I would truly faint or puke before I could do public speaking.
hi folks
for some reason i actually thrive doing that. . . i faint or puke doing parties. . .
howdy welki!
merry Christmas. . .
Hi welki
jmc, i can tell everyone that we stayed up just about all night a few years ago, talking and talking, and never ran out of things to talk about
I avoid parties whenever possible too, unless it is less than 6-8 people and involves close friends. As I have gotten older I just don't do what I don't enjoy any more.
well that wasn't a party. . . and we were both drunk. . .
*giggle*
Haha
i concede :)
I am just the opposite i think scrabs. . . i do what i don't enjoy if i can see the value for my long range happiness. . .thus I am going to a part tonight. . .
me too scrab and less caring about appearances or what other people might think
good times welki. . . good times
I watched the first 44 sec of your video and love it so far.I will watch the remainder later. But you already intimidate me with your calm speaking demeanor.
i like her use of 'the pause'
haha i have never understood why i intimidate people. . . i am a pussy cat! *purrs*
Because you can do something that I could never do.
trust me scrabs you do a lot of things i could never do. . .
but, in a sense, you do do public speaking on a daily basis - and in a setting that, i think, might often be fraught with panic and worry
welki are you in nj or the snowy north?
Blah, a huge benefit of aging is feeling liberated. So I no longer do things because "I am supposed to." I say no to many social events because I would rather be home alone.
good point welki. . . talking to patients must be very difficult. . . i find it hard enough talking with clients and i am only tlaking about money with them. . .
snowy north, literally
I watched one of your speaking tapes once, JMC. I think you relate very well to an audience and I don't find you intimidating at all.
i am glad you have found your freedom in that scrabs. . . that is crucial. . . being happy is what really matters. . .
ty molls. . .
it was in the 70s here today welki. . . eat your heart out. . .
One on one with a parent I can do, and that make me uncomfortable when a parent challenges me (when they are disrespectful or rude), but it has gotten easier as I have aged and gained experience.
can't ride a snowmobile on a lake when it's 70, jmc - well, you shouldn't :)
JM, actually I am a teacher more than anything.
true scrab (about feeling liberated)
it would be dampish welki. . . possible drowningish as well. . .
that is a wonderful talent scrabs. . .
especially to parents who are frightened about their kid. . . that is much harder than being frightened about myself. . .
so there - the consensus, scrabbs, is that you don't give yourself enough credit for all you do
It depends on how a doc defines their role. I see myself as teaching parents and kids about health and safety. I teach parents about how to prepare their kids to be respectful, responsible, kind adults. And I teach kids to focus on those 3 words, among others.
*ding, ding, ding* welki and i agree. . . I return to my earlier comment about your sainthood scrabs *looks in cabinet for halo*
*doing a curtsy*
well i really must get my cornbread on the way. . . that dressing won't be the same without it!
Well, there are the illnesses and injuries, which typically are not serious, but mostly we focus on creating great adults and parents need help although they don't always want it.
bbl maybe. . . love and kisses to all. . . .
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
bye, jmc - good to 'see' you :)
guess i should get busy, too - bye for now
Well,I have to at least pass halfway
Good evening, everybody:)
Crossy! I have been alone, trying to pass halfway, and this grid sucks. And my laptop is going to die soon, so Merry Christmas to you, Elegant, and the boy!
same to you, Scrabby, and ty for your post. I wish you and your family a very merry Chrstmas
YW, Crossy.
darn typos, I retain the crown till the end it seems :)
Good thing I only write books for a hobby or this typing thing would be annoying :)
I am going to cook my mother a ham tonight. Do you have any cooking hints?
Hams are dead easy, but do you like pieapple and brown sugar?
pineapple
I won't eat it. I have some brown sugar here.
I am not sure if I have canned pineapple.
Sorry, forgot you were a vegetarian there. I should have remembered that
Add a sprinkle of brown sugar and pineapple--if you have it
add oven roasted and herbed baby taters
and some nice baby carrots cooked in vegetable broth
yummers :)
I have yams, white potatoes, and will make roasted veggies (butternut squash, carrots, Brussels sprouts, and dried cranberries.) And tomorrow morning I will heat everything, make biscuits, then bring it to mom's 30 miles away.
mm, sounds good
yummy
I love roasted root veggies
And visit greatnephews, nephews, sister, 2 friends, and I want to stop downtown at the Children's Hospital to see a very sick patient.
those veggies, you can "pouch" them once cool inside of tinfoil with a pat of butter. when you get to mums, just pop them on a flat tray in a hot oven for a few minutes
I always make yorkie puds
In this house, it is not a special meal inless yorkie puds are in there somewhere
unless
Yorkie puds?
Yorkshire pudding
Yummy
secret is proper pan prep and a nice, hot oven. get them a bit hollow inside and crospy on top
crispy
oven at 450F, pre-heat the pans, coat in peanut oil(bacon fat is traditional) and they rise up nice and high:)
Alright, I am ready to start cooking. You have motivated me, Crossy. I will see you in the morning.
As kids at Christmas dinner, we used to open them up and fill them with sweet peas and a obscene lump of creamery butter :)
Tc scrabby, and merry christmas
anyone have a clue for the second sa5/12
I think it is the plural of the "spoken" word before it, if you can dig that
hi annie. not listed yet, i see a plural of spole

I'm done with baking. I do need to make the holiday Rice Krispie treats, for my eternally 5 year old sons though.

raspberry almond shortbreads are next up.

We got these "gourmet rice krispie treats" at work that were really kind of gross. There is nothing quite like the traditional ones.
how healthy sounding TO!
i have finshed tassies and light ginger cookies.
<---lazy slob
I only have one bourbon ball left. . . gave most of them away this year. . . that is my idea of a cookie!
Hi all
you guys are shaming me
Prawns defrosting. Potatoes peeled. Carrots scraped. Turkey resting in fridge. Ham cooked and smelling blooming delish! Sprouts sitting mutinously in pan. Soodle relaxing with a particularly nice bottle of red.
lol jmc, i will save some for you and drop them off if i go to MD
Happy Christmas to all those celebrating in babble land :)
hi lizin happy Christmas
I usually make cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning too. But my time frame has been moved up this year to Christmas lunch, instead of Christmas dinner so that had to drop off the list.
ty liz! i wish you good cheer.
hi soodle happy Christmas
soodle, you snuck in! sounds yummy, i am craving ham
ah. . . we have christmas dinner at about 2 pm. . . until whenever. . . with a round or two of boggle in between courses. . .
There is a big slab o'beef tenderloin in the fridge ready to be roasted tomorrow. My favorite meal of the year.
must go put out some butter and eggs for another round. brb
i am a guest tomorrow, i do not know what is on the menu, except i better show up with cookies.
Hello JMC. It's been a while! Hope you are well. Temple... Ham is the piece de resistance in this house. Several attempts have been made to attack it, but I am guarding it....
i'm doing turkey because i never get good southern dressing at thanksgiving. . .
Fireworks - last 10 words came easily with the list!
*hands soodle an antique rolling pin* that will do it
Have a lovely evening / night everyone.
whoo hooo lizlin!

night soodle
same to you ,soodle.
same to you soodle. . . see you soon
Every year I swear I'm going to wrap the stocking stuffers before Christmas Eve and every year I fail at that.
I figure the stocking wraps them enough. . .i wrap a few santa claus presents but not even all of those. . .
i am going to wrap now, then bake. so tired. poor planning cost me three hours today.
Wrapping them is a tradition from long ago that has hung around. It is my worst wrapping of the season, probably because by that point I have dipped into the Jamesons.
it feels like summer. i don't mind, it's just that my skin and hair is acting like it is
wrapping everything was hubby's tradition. . .santa leaving them in piles unwrapped (no sense wasting money on all that paper with five kids) was my family's. . . I compromised and wrap some of them . . .
my parents put us to bed then stayed up and put up the tree and wrapped the gifts so we could see them when we awoke, like magic.
my Ex was a pro at wrapping gifts.. they always looked perfect and crisp
our local tv showcased a guy trying desperately to wrap a gift. i cringed because that is me.
my brother used to make me wrap my own present. . . he gave it to me in a bag and then I wrapped it. . . .
lol my christmas cookies are in the grid!
It used to be a big debate in college whether presents from Santa were wrapped or unwrapped. I am in the unwrapped camp.
et 7 ??
Merry Christmas SMom. And to the whole SMom clan as well.
hi sammysmom merry christmas

da7 starts with your name and ends with you might want to mod...your kitchen if it becomes outdated
