Yes, it's hard on everyone. I fear she didn't tell me about a couple, because when my grandson was on the way, she didn't tell me till she was quite well along - we live over 400 miles apart. I wish we were closer so I could see the kids more often!
At least it isn't farther than that!! Thank goodness also for skype and facetime; they certainly help close those awful miles.

My mom was in Florida, and we were in IN. Somehow she managed to bridge those miles, and we barely had email back then.
Skype is great for getting together when distance is so great

My eldest nephew is 30 now & his folks were in Newfoundland when he was born. No Skype in those days. My dad used to post over casette tapes to him, telling him Irish folk tales. The kid was about 4 before he realised his Grandad wasn't a tape recorder!! Lol
