i helped make a move for the Baltimore 48Hour Film Project on Saturday. We shot all 75 scenes for our 7 minute movie in only 12.5 hours. A good day, despite two hours of outdoor scenes in the heat.
wtg, dcs!
the V is easy today.
thanks, aloy. It was fun as always. I was the Gaffer.I'd set up a scene for evening only to be informed it was now a daytime scene. Happily, that was change one light, and voilà .
I just got here when the grid changed; unfortunately, I can't stay & chat because I'm too darned tired. We're getting our floor refinished & some friends came & helped us move furniture & stuff; I'm going to bed in a few minutes.
WTG, dc! That sounds interesting'
enjoy the "new" floor, nef, and rest well.
This in the 8th 48hour film project i've done with most of this crew. Various competitions in Washington, DC and Baltimore through some years now.
major disruption, Nef, but thankfully temporary
Good Night & Happy Babbling Everyone!
sleep well!
Hi all :)
g'day, liz :)
Clues are up
Hi dc and thanks, Lickety
tyvm lickety!
and hi to Liz

oops, sorry..
Hi Aloy
ta, lickety
g'nite all
Sleep well, Aloy
good morning all
Hi and hugs, Sprite
Lovely to see you - bit early though, isn't it?
*hugs back* Hello Liz!
Sounds like you had a lovely birthday. You are rightly very proud of Caya.
it is 7.40 am here. Just waved off my girl, who is going to help out on a bicycle trekking week organised by school.
she is amazing
That's early! I'm sure she'll have a lovely week.
oh yes, she is gonna have a terrific time.
how are you and your beloved?
We're fine - going out to see the whales again tomorrow, though I doubt it'll be anywhere near as good as it was last Thursday.
that was something special, Liz, wow. Thanks so much for sharing the picture.
It was perfect! Hubby missed the shot, so I was doubly happy with that.
really tough to take a picture at exactly the right time. Good thing you both were trying.
You end up sitting with your camera poised, looking just ahead of where you last saw the whales, hoping you've got the right place, where they'll next surface. We sit like that for the whole trip.
And don't get distracted by dolphins!
hahaha I couldn't do it. I would be too busy looking all over the place
only if you do it on porpoise liz
You wouldn't because you see the blow from quite a way off, then the boat heads in that direction, so you do have an idea where they'll be.
but but but dolphins!
:) - too sleepy to think of a quick comment back, Ru.
hiya ru :)
hi sprite
what kind of whales are you looking for Lizlin?
I know. I love the dolphins too and the flying fish! Don't see them too often though. Turtles too.
Southern humpbacks, Bugs.
one day, Liz. One day I will go whale spotting with you and your beloved.
We'll have about 18 - 20,000 pass through here. We're right in the middle of their migration, so we get them swimming north and south. Long season here - June - September are the main times though.
Awesome, Sprite - love taking friends out with us.
I just saw my first humpback this spring. Ususally we see orcas
hiya Bugs :)
Fantastic! I love orcas too - saw them when I was in Canada.
(saw the same humpback Bugs saw)
you are so special, ru, being able to recognise their facfes
faces* even
Saw humpbacks in Alaska too - they are just amazing creatures.
finished
hello to everyone here.
wtg ru!
it's really a fluke if you can recognize them sprite :D
Congrats, Ru.
LOL ru
the 9 is a doozy
I had to look it up
ruru, you are a speedster
I guess I will too, then.
that doesn't bode well for this notoriously biggie-blind babbler
it's a really tough word.. means hoarfrost
thanks, that will help
A lot :)
what does it start with, please?
hello, all
cr9
hi harp
Hi Harp
thanks
I love finishing before midnight... I sleep better :D
hiya harp!
is it a compound, ru?
cooee and g'day from me. {{hugs}} and xxxx to all who would like them. ;-)
no
thank you
Hi and hugs, Rose
sounds like a cross between a bird and the german army
*hugs rose* Hello dear friend. How was your day? Your flowers are amazing! As are you.
hi ya liz. thanx for your lovely pic and greetings.. would you believe it? neither of us remembered. we had so much to today that we didn't actually see the date.
I had to look that word up - would never have found that.
yw Rose. Hope you're having a lovely day.
Thanks for the help, Ru.
yqw
day was busy as we both knew it would be. i am so pleased you like the flowers.xoxox
no egrets on that one :D
they are orange. It is like a fire on my table. So beautiful.
lol ru
:)
still looking for the 9. Guess it is time to use a2z
and deacon won an award for the way he played his game today. coach had him in centre. tall kid on same team would knock down the ball to deacon who would catch it and run like heck for his goal.
I kind of clued it sprite
It was a good clue - well, when I knew the word!
I noticed. Am being stoopid here though
wooooot yay for deacon!
Like Ru said, most of a bird and German empire almost/
WTG Deacon.
boy can those kick a ball now !! all those little legs pumping like crazy to get the ball and kick a goAL. i laughed and laughed.
How old is he now?
oh empire! I read army. See, am really being stoopid today.
LOLOLLLL and they STILL pile on top of each other on top of the ball and just about every time deacon is the one on the very botton, clutching the ball.
liz, he has just turned eight.
awwww bless his soul
I have no understanding of Aussie Rules at all.
and your point is, liz?? *giggling*
i only watch because they wear those itty-bitty shorts. and accidents DO happen...
No point. Just a statement but the short shorts are cool! Not on Deacon though - well not for me.
i was talking about the big boys games, liz. the kids... i watch because they are so earnest and sweet in trying so very hard to play the game.
I know that! And you only watch the little boys because of Deacon.
*giggles* Didn't take you for a cradle robber, Liz
Definitely not!
no, i'm the cradle robber. himself is 2 years younger than i am. he had to be to keep up with me. well... that was back then
Mine is 2 years older than me.
found it. Thanks to the enable list in Lickety's resources. For crying out loud, that is an odd one.
mine is 9 years older than I am. Guess he robbed the cradle :D
very strange one indeed sprite.
I found it in more words. Down to 21 now but rushing to finish because of the whales tomorrow.
should have told me it was Scots, lol
I guess that might've worked too.
nah just kidding, I would never ever have found it without looking it up
But when you know the word, Ru's clue makes so much sense.
true!
Well...it does
it does. It was me being dense, not any failure at the side of your clue
Pictures goose-stepping cranes
that one went right over my head, I am afraid
halfway
Nice
now for the tougher halve
2nd half is definitely tougher.
have just taken an endone so please excuse me if i drop out of chat. i will try to stay alert.....
lol rose... sure, sure, blame the endone. *cough cough BOURBON cough cough*
Hope it helps, Rose.
hahahaha sprite. nope none in the house tonight.
*grins* Just kidding, rose. *hugs* I know you are in bad pain.
Fireworks - with help from Ru and more words
*grin* thanx you two
wtg Liz!!!!
WTG LIZLIN!!!
Thanks. I'm off to sort out stuff for tomorrow - charge camera batteries, dig out jeans and loads of layers! Have a good evening Rose and feel better and enjoy your day, Sprite. Hugs.
*hugs Liz* Have a grand time, Liz!
enjoy your evening dear liz. counting down on the sleeps to go.7 now.
let's hope Liz doesn't use up all the whales in that time
Also counting and I'll speak to the whales tomorrow and tell them to be ready for you next week!

I have had babble blindness for the past few days
These days, with life as busy as it gets, I am usually happy with halfway, NBT, and NBS

'morning, babblers
Howdy, Welki. :)
cross you mean wolvie's?
Hi kids.
scrabbs - the things we sign up for
I am still in shock. But for the next 5 days I am in the Adirondack Mtns and can my head ready for what lies ahead. And make phone calls, do emails, etc.
years ago, i took in a young cousin without any notice - even though i had three small children at the time, it was still a huge disruption to my home. so try to keep your wits about you when things are nutso and you're questioning your sanity. if anyone is up for the task, it's you. the boys are supremely lucky to have you in their lives.
The sad thing is that they will return to life with one or both parents, certainly their mother, and it will never be ideal, but I want to remain involved forever.
i get the feeling that, even though your situation changed quickly, the scenario had been building for quite some time. and during that time, you managed to maintain a relationship with the family (because you were able to spend time with the boys) - keeping that relationship, after the boys go back, will be more difficult, but not impossible.
I need to maintain a positive relationship with my nephew and with the mother of the boys in order to remain involved with my grandnephews. I must be seen as a helper and not as an enemy.
which will be incredibly hard to do - when you see kids on an occasional basis, you notice 'things,' but they don't seem as huge as when you're with them every day and realize that there are big pieces of the puzzle that have either been lost, broken or ignored altogether. i'm sure you see what i'm talking about on a daily basis in your practice, but when it hits home, it feels like you've been punched in the stomach
Scrabby, you are a blessing for these two boys. We all support you 100%, and know that those children are in good hand indeed. :)
The problems have been building for years and this is actually a good situation now, a serious wake-up call for the parents, although neither recognizes themselves as the problem and just blames the other.
I love them deeply, Crossy, and have tried to protect them from birth.
Welki, it is so difficult to feel helpless to repair a situation completely, but to only be there one or two days weekly to be a sane person for the boys. Now I will be a daily presence for them, even if just for 4 months.
You will have two enthusiastic helpers for the rabbits :)
my hope with my cousin was that she'd learn what 'normal' felt like and could keep some of that feeling, that life didn't always have to be frenetic and fragmented. i didn't have an ongoing relationship with her family, so when she left, she was just gone, so i had no continuity
(on the bright side, she ended up graduating from a good university and is living a good life)
(on the bright side, she ended up graduating from a good university and is living a good life)
sorry for the stutter. really, what i want to say is that the boys have more life opportunities with you in their lives than without you, so this time together, while intense and exhausting, will help them more than you can imagine
I just don't want the parents to push me out. I want them to keep me in the boys' lives, to know that I want to keep helping.
Good morning everyone
We are patiently waiting the news of the birth of a niece or nephew!
No birth. I am the legal guardian of my grandnephews, Car! CPS delivered them to me on July 6th!
there'll likely be resentment, no matter what you do to include them (things tend to get turned around over time), but you'll do the best you can to keep them in the loop (so they'll consider you an asset, not a liability) and, with a little luck, it'll help
Howdy, car :)
you have them now scrab?
I know! I am so happy for you and for them!
Hi all!
good morning car.
scrabs, i think car was saying she's awaiting a birth :)
Yup!
i have in4/4, anyone got the other i word?
It's in5,12 hurshy
thank you monkey!!
has scrabs been two-timing George Clooney's wife?
i think i'm missing the point of that joke, ruru
oh.. I thought that scrabs thought that car asked if she had given birth. and since George Clooney is her secret lover.. I put two and two together
No, Ruru, I am over George.
oh.. sorry then scrabs
another Hollywood cast off for scrabs
I must get going, kids. Enjoy the day.
we're only talking about nephews and nieces, no sons/daughters, anyway, haha
((Scrabs))
ok then hursh.. I give up and say uncle
hehe
I think a lot of women who were once into Clooney are now over him.
really? i like him more now that he's married a really impressive woman.
I definitely like him LESS now.
he did marry a very impressive woman
I love the bit that tina fey and amy poehler did at the golden globes kidding him about it.
Fireworks!
Congrats!
Clues anyone?
I'm more into Matt McConaghy
There are some really weird words. I was stuck on the si words for a while.
clue us up some weird ones then :)
Yes bichon, Matthew is waaaaaaay hotter.
Yes, I am trying to find the second S word from the lower right corner.
si5 is how a New Yawker pronounces the metal that is not gold.
i don't find him attractive at ALL, yuck
great clue, monkey, ty
Then add consonant to get the next two si6s
tyvm! That was driving me nuts
or is is a company that makes a quality compass
I'm an ex-New Yorker and the only time a New York accent comes up is when I'm around someone like Anniebrook
Have one of them myself :)
I don't mind that accent and didn't mean to offend with my clue, just thought it might be recognizable.
I think it is really more of a Boston accent
I have a southern accent myself,, and I say y'all all day.
I say "Y'all" too and people give me guff. I think I must have been southern in a past life because I have many "southern" sayings in my normal vocab.
stats for the 9 please?
I can't get used to a Boston accept even though it's only 100 miles from me. But I do like to say "wicked pisser"
cr 9/78
"pissah", Bichon!
y'all is a useful word... one of the few "Texan" words I use
ty cross
I don't particular enjoy a heavy Boston accent.
kje, it starts like the juice cocktail
cr 9/78 and don't try monkeying it
car I forgot pissah

Scottish hoarfrost, of all things...
Well I'm going to the beach now, it's wicked hot now.

Have a great day! Enjoy!

And not toxic to people.

The are quite teeny.

Yeah - that distinguishes these little guys as much as their gorgeous colours.
they look like little crabs
I think the three most poisonous creatures in the world live in australia
helen pretty doesn't always mean nice lol
Lucky Australia! I'm sure they'd prefer to live without most of them.
As long as it's just in a photo, it does!

Ro 6 the french spelling of the end of a joint of weed
Ruru, I swear I tried that! (the spelling, not the joint) LOL! Thanks!
Would zee like anothuh heet?
Ch1212 and Bill clinton didn't inhale
LOL! I live in Washington state where it's now legal for recreational purposes. There's a shop up the street with one of those inflatable dancing tubes colored green with reddish 'ash' bits on top. Along the side is the word "MARIJUANA". Still makes me do a double take.
..And on that high note, it's FW for me and I'm ** poof **. Have fun all!
hey all. howsit?
hey jes
hey stid :)
:-D
so that owner i was telling you about the other day, that is refusing to pay for boarding? she came back, it gets better.
okay...
came in and swore up and down that she was told 11/night, not 18/night, that we were lying to her, and that she was going to get a lawyer and call the BBB
ugh
we repeated what we'd told her in the first place, and she stormed out... and apparently stormed straight to city police, because an officer called to ask what the ado was from our side.
*rolls eyes*
Said she wanted to file fraud charges against us!
frack...
so receptionist explained what was up, and officer said that (as we all know) he has no authority over what a business charges for their services and he'd tell her that if she wanted to dispute it, she'd have to take us to small claims courth.
court.
at this point i hope she does it, it'll be effing hilarious to watch the judge stomp her down.
your receptionist deserves choclits...
you deserve a halo!
i am unceasingly amused by people who think I will be immediately frightened into caving to unreasonable demands by the word "lawyer"
like the conversation if she called one wouldn't go along the gist of "so you are refusing to pay them for services you requested? you... uh... you do realize I'm going to be expected to be paid for services, right?"
Can I assume that before an owner is allowed to drop off an animal they have to sign paperwork that outlines the basic charges?
That's what we have to do here...
not generally, no. We don't typically NEED a written contract for boarding services. We do written estimates for surgeries and such frequently but boarding? no. On the other hand, her dog's "medical chart" currently consists of like 3 lines about the dog and 4 pages of notes about conversations with her nuttiness.
ah -- That makes sense.
And wow... I know it's important to document everything, but .... wow.
that's a lot of documenting!
yah. If it's not in writing, it didn't happen.
oooh. down to 25! I can list! :-)
yay you!
i have 66 left
it won't take you long. This is not as challenging as it seemed at first, although a lot of words are not too common, they are easily monkeyed.
how goes your weekend outside the grid? allergy issues going away?
allergy is continuing to subside, thanks -- I can be in the sunlight again (although Grant asked this morning if I knew my nose was peeling... *sigh*), and I am comfortably able to eat my favorite foods again. :-) But it has been rainy, and I have been getting over two days of a lot of activity -- meeting kiwi Thursday and then an art party at my house Friday. Fun, but exhausting!
So, just sitting and enjoying today. Being quiet feels nice.
art party?
Yes, I have some silk and paints, and had friends over for a few hours to play with them. It was fun.
sounds like a blast
it was great fun
We'll do it again, and have something nice to look forward to.
did you scarf down any food stid?
LOL we did, ruru -- sandwiches for most, salad for me.
food sounds good...
you know, I may be "learning" something about food and myself: if I take some time to prepare the veggies in bulk when I bring them home, then I am more likely to make a salad or a soup or a side dish rather than letting them sit until they go bad...
I just buy enough fruit and veggies for a couple of days at a time.. and buy fresh more often
but it is just me here.. not a whole crew
We live a LONG way from a decent grocery store: most of the year we buy veggies from a local CSA and get delivery once a week or once a month. I just don't have the energy to drive in to town to shop for groceries because it's an extra hour of just driving to get there and back...
I did organizational stuff around the house today and some cleaning and made a quiche for breakfast .. I am now just chillin'
If I lived in a town or city I would probably just drop by and get things as I wanted them.
oh.. didn't realize you lived in the boonies
oh, I love quiche! :-)
I live five minutes from Whole Foods
that would be so convenient!
it is.. but WF is really expensive
true -- although for just one person, probably manageable?
yes.. more or less
how fishy is the 9 if I have the 5 that comes in front of it?
jes.. let us know if she takes you to small claims court.. some people are just idiots
it is far from Fishy stid
hmmmm. a nudge please?
beginning of a bird + sounds like the german army for the second part
cr9
okay, thanks *thinking*
the 3rd ... etc
hitler's third ... ?
eh. she's going to small claims court one way or the other I think - I expect she's going to ditch and not come back for the dog, and I'm'a take her to court.
hah
I would pulverize her for being such an irresponsible order
owner

firewords
hi all, congrats to Jesdragon and all
Good evening, everybody:)
I remember "Guitarzan," Gwen. I was the geeky kid who used to order all those cheaply made K-Tel off the ads on T.V Guitarzan was on the "Goofy Greats" collection of 22 songs as I recall. :)
K-Tel records*
The reason they were able to get 11 songs on a side was because they cut the grooves so tight for each song, your stylus had to be in perfect condition, or it would skip like crazy, and you would be forced to tape a stack of pennies to the top of the tone-arm :)
i was reading anotehr website, back now
oh, yes, i remember the days of putting coins on the tone-arm. we would usually use a quarter
I was always broke from buying records, so it was pennies for me. Was a used record shop near me where I could get 45's for 25 cents and used 33 1/3 LP's for a dollar :)
Sigh. Gone are the day of buying an entire record or cassette for just one song you HAD to have. :)
Gosh. to ruru! I wasn't lurking. How is it lurking if you sign on and just play the grid without reading the chog? That might be antisocial in the eyes of some, but all I was doing was playing the game! Sheesh ( a word I've learned from reading the chog, which I certainly do sometimes)!
Tada!
Yaa for Dorens!
YAY doren!
finito! and good night all *poink*
sweet dreams gwen -- here to clue if anyone needs it?
