What did you cook?
I was craving pasta and made Chicken Alfredo.. and man was it rich.
I feel like a blimp
:) - love pasta. Don't eat it often enough.
Bet it was fun at the time though.
i haven't been eating carbs and i just really wanted some pasta
I totally understand that - also don't eat much carbs, especially not in the evening. Sometimes though, pasta, rice or potatoes just call out!
Now i feel heavy
yay nbt nbs!!

I'm sitting outside as it is a lovely day and a man is strimming all the grass outside the school and he's stopping and starting and now getting really annoying.Plus the parents have started to arrive to pick up their kids who can't walk up the street to where there is off street parking and the little/big lovelies will walk past in about 10 minutes shouting, swearing and throwing their rubbish everywhere and the coaches will be coming and going! What joy!!I think i might go in until everyone's gone.
sounds like a fun neighborhood lillian
It's lovely when they are in school or on holidays!
of course :)
I'm hoping it's tomorrow
but that's not the weekend Lillian?
does anyone have jo8?
No, but they have teacher training days before the holidays normally so finish mid week.My bairn's school finished last Thursday but she finished 3 weeks earlier after her exams. My next door neighbours grand daughter finishes today.
Not yet, but will look
oh that's good so It might quiet down a bit?:)
never mind Lillian only a 7
It'll be lovely for about 7 weeks. Now some man went to park in front of my gates even though i have a big red sign saying disabled access needed.I just gave him such a look so he reversed and is now parked outside my neighbours gate instead. Some people are just so ignorant!
Have you found it Mlf? I'm still looking
why do people park in front of gates??
no jo8 Lillian forget it
hello, hello, hello!
no i meant the jo7
yes I have the jo7
can you clue it please
its a last name a pl and extend jo 5/7
hi eva
Ty.I didn't have the 5 either
Hi Eva
yw lillian
I have 87 left will be back
so back from the last checkup before i head out to vacation. doc says things look great + little nugget is healthy. yay!
Good morning, all!
Sorry, was chatting to neighbour. That sounds great Eva and i hope you have a great holiday.
Hi Judi.
It's very muggy here today.we have a slight breeze but i'm still sweating buckets.I have all the doors and windows in the house to cool it down but it isn't doing much.I shouldn't complain because apparently we're getting more rain tomorrow.
*open
glad everything is going well eva have fun on your vacation
hi judi
lilliann... opening the windows too early is the mistake most u people make..
*uk people
why is that rolin?
It puts fresh air in the house aswell Rolin but i'm sat outside in the shade at the moment.
Saying that i'm getting all the flies in the house too
its as hot sitting in the sun as it is sitting in the shade here
but the air is still warm/hot... as an aussie... i close the house down after 8am... trapping the cooler night air inside... close the blinds against where the sun is which for me is the front... that keeps the house cool til the time the air cools and then open all the windows particularly to take the air out from upstairs
we keep the windows closed all the time
Thanks Rolin. I do close all the blinds in the rooms that the sun comes into. It's the back for me.
Central air conditioning is a beautiful thing.
as long as it can keep up with the temps outside judi lol but better then not having it at all
and of course there's always the standing fans... central airconditioning in houses is not an option here Judi.... it gets hot so rarely.. and very very rarely for any longer than two or three days together
judi maybe we should move where rolin lives?lol
Central heat/air is essential here in the mid-atlantic region of the U.S.
I have a standing fan which i have to have on everynight and all night because of hot flushes, but that doesn't always help if the air is still warm because it's just circulating it.
oooh hot flushes are SUCH fun in this weather aren;t they?
Lillian that does not sound good
You wouldn't like it Mlf as it's too cold and wet.
lilian oh that is the alternative?
Yes, i'm just loving them Rolin....NOT!!
Would love to visit the UK but couldn't live there. Too rainy. It would not be good for me as I am prone to seasonal depression.
seasonal depression?
We do get some nice weather but everything is so green over here because of the rain.
well apart from the three year break of HRT... ive been dealing with them for ten years
I visited London for 8 days years ago at the time they had one holiday.. Mum's Day
Yes alot of people get SAD here in the Autumn because the dark nights are starting earlier
hello
green is so pretty
Hiya, TO!
mlfan.... england is beautiful...but in the larger picture...the weather sucks...
Lillian American's get affected by time change
This is my eleventh year now Rolin.I had to stop the hrt and now do herbal and stop eating certain things that make me flush
rolin I think It was cloudy most of the time, and we had rain only once
However, we used to live in upstate NY. Weather was very similar to the UK and Seattle WA. SO glad we moved. Don't miss the snow either.
looks like we're living parallel lives Lillinn
hi judi! waiting for the ac man, no ac since Sunday
owl go to a hotel they have a/c
Uhg! That sucks, TO. Always seems to happen when there's a crushing heat wave, doesn't it?
sat under a tree reading for a while. then went to library, my laptop went crazy. not sure if it was the pc or the net.
I would love to live somewhere hot and sunny.I'm normally a sun goddess but i must admit since menopause i can't sit/lie in it as much as i use to
judi, when hubby and I lived in our condo we had no a/c on hottest day and no heat on the coldest day
well, judi, with the weekend prediction it happened at the best time.
It does Rolin :-)
beautiful 20C (70 American) here. We generally fling the windows open by mid-April, and do not close them again till the snow flies. fans only No a/c or central a/c
it's not the heat, it's the humidity.
yes humidity is awful
ok.. taking a break...bbl
bye rolin
bfn Rolin
Yep. Humidity sucks. If we ever retire to another climate, my choice would be Arizona. Heat but no humidity.
owl why did your computer act that way?
Yes humidity isn't nice
i don't know, fan, but i'd better get moving on a new one
i have a friend who says she and her husband want to retire to sc from the Washington metro area
owl i guess wi fi is the way!
DC metro? Hope they like gridlock traffic.
judi she is still there i am in another state now but its just as hot here as it is there
and traffic is definiitily not fun there
that's because all the yankees moved there
bbl, laundry.
lol. Sure. Blame the yankees.
Phantom: Mohair.
<----is not a yankee
That's a good one Judi.Mines mirror
my phantom is horror
<---------------- Still a yankee. Although we are now just spitting distance to the Mason/Dixon line.
judi:)

Looks like he enjoyed his car ride.

Was he going to PA to be adopted?

yw Ru
I meant ty
back -- hey, judi -- he was going to rescue in PA, then will be posted for adoption :-)
Which rescue, Une? We got our dog at La Mancha in PA.
gone again -- back soon :-)
I hope it doesn't take long for someone to adopt as he looks like he could be a good family dog
La Mancha!!!
Ha! Small world! They are a wonderful organization.
lilliann, he'll be adopted quickly -- in any case, until he's adopted he'll be living with a loving foster family :-)
Our husky/border collie mix came there via Kentucky.
There you are Judi.Do you want another dog?
lol. No thanks. Have the dog and three casts. House busting at the seams.
Cats rather.
quite a few dogs come thru TN and KY heading in that direction :-)
ok -- BBL :-)
Speaking of dogs, ours got sprayed by a skunk AGAIN last night. 2nd time in a month.
That's good Une.I'd love to be a foster animal carer but can't walk the dogs and i don't think my cat would like anymore feline friends as she goes on guard duty every night to stop other cats coming in her garden!
Yes, it does sound like you have your hands full Judi.Husky and border collie is quite a mix
imagines a big pile of snow sleds rounded up by the dog at Judi's house
She is such a love, lilliann. Is quiet and calm and so well behaved. We really must break her of this skunk attraction though.
Oh nice!! Not!! I take it he had to have a nice bubbly shower
lol Ru
She got doused with white vinegar and rinsed off. Otherwise, she's due for another vinegar treatment and bath tonight.
You would have thought after the first time she wouldn't have bothered again.Perhaps she likes the smell :D
Why white vinegar. Will dog shampoo not do?
I blame my husband. He left her unattended in the SUV - with the gate open - while he ran inside to grab something. In that short amount of time, Pepe wandered by and Luna decided to jump out and investigate.
Shampoo doesn't even begin to neutralize skunk smell. Need something astringent.
I'd make him do the treatments
Poor thing what with smelling like a skunk and then a fish and chip supper, i don't think anything will go near her for a while!
Oh, believe me, he gets to do all the doggie related chores.
We have a young couple that walks by here every night with 2 beautiful huskies. One of them always sticks their heads through my gate either looking for or at the cat but it never barks at her.
I love Doggy related chores
She definitely does not like the smell. She's gotten in full in the face these last two times. Rubs her face and body all over the ground for quite a while afterwards. I would imagine it stings when it gets in her eyes.
Yes, i would think that could be really painful.Do you have a lot of skunks near you? isn't there something to deter them?
Seems to go in cycles. Some years it seems like they're everywhere. Other years, we hardly see or smell them at all. I don't know of anything that deters skunks. They know they're badass.
We have a lot of skunks here, especially by our bedroom window (((
Unfortunately, they seem to be abundant this year.
hello friends. leave out day for Ireland - I am a nervous MESS
skunks and woodchucks and chipmunks
Oh my!
You're going to have so much fun
What's a woodchuck Bichon?
why nervous?
I'm not such a good flyer, and being the only adult is making me wicked nervous
Trif - you will do fine. You are going to have a blast and so will the kids.
plus the world has been....unsettling lately
Hi Trif. You'll have a great time.Don't you like flying?
take a Xanax trifoso
I don't
I got Benadryl!
I love flying.. hopefully you'll bring a nice book and read that
Have a couple of stiff drinks and have a sleep.
How long is the flight Trif?
7 hours, I think?
I'm guessing the worst part will be security lines at the airports. An unenviable slog.
I just got Global Entry, goodbye lines
we leave from boston, fly to new York, and have a five hour wait between 6-11. we keep joking we are going to sneak into tonight's performance of Hamilton, but in reality we will probably be waiting in line all that time. Which is FINE with me - PLEASE, check each person CAREFULLY!!!!
You will not be waiting in line that long. Ditch the luggage and hang out in an airport pub and watch TV.
You can fly non stop to Ireland from Hartford
That's a canny wait but yes, i'm with you Trif, i'd prefer to be in a queue, knowing that everyone is getting checked thoroughly than go through too quickly
Off to lunch. Bon voyage, Trif. Have a GREAT time!
i normally get checked longer than my husband and bairn but they do have to pat me down in the chair and then swipe the chair
Bye Judi.Enjoy your lunch
Are you flying to Dublin or Belfast Trif?
shannon
thank GOD too, as mr hate is flying out of Dublin tomorrow. ugh!
his mum passed away last week, and he would not pay for the kids to change their tickets and go over a few days earlier, and "strongly felt" I should not attend her services. So the kids and I are doing our own private thing for her while we are there.
Nice of him! That's probably better, that way you don't have to see him
seriously....just when I think he has done the lowest thing he can do, he always proves he can go one level lower.
Some men are like that! I take it you will be seeing Soodle while you are there? How long are you going for?
we are just going for a week, because that is all a) we can afford and b) primo and his love could get off work, as they are both new in their careers. I AM meeting Soodle!!!! I am SO EXCITED!!!
Tertiare is bringing her beau too. Secondo has to earn school money, so she is up at school already, working at a non profit and waiting tables. She thought about going, but made her decision with integrity, so I support her.
taking a shower...brm
brb
Ah, it's a shame she couldn't go but good and sounds like a level headed hard working young lady.i'm sure she'll get there one day. I bet Soodle's is too. You'll have a great time!
*forget about the good bit, i started typing something else and hadn't deleted it all.
Getting headache.bbl to finish.Have a wonderful time Trif and i'm sure your journey will go smoothly.take care.
if trif is still here. bon voyage.

Hello, Annie :-)
Hi zooz
Been nice and hot here today. how about where you are?
We had a few days over 90 degrees, much nicer today. Nice breeze passing through.
Yes it is around 91F here today...Love it!
That is too hot for me. But good beach weather.
I live in Florida on the Gulf coast. Water temperatures have been running in the low nineties.... too hot to be inthe water.
I do enjoy the hot weather as it only lasts a few days here in the UK lol
i can't imagine being in water that hot.
I only go outside to get in the car or walk to air conditioned store/office. Sun is way too hot. You start sweating the minute you leave thr a/v.
a/c
Water is hooter than bath temps
hotter
Yes I can see where there is high humididty and you are sweaty even after you have showered ten minutes before could be a bined that's for sure.
That is the weather we had for the past 3 days. Humid and hot. Stay cool, zTink. Zooz, you would like it in Florida. Hot, hot, hot.

Hi Babblers. :-)
Hi Soodle :-) Trif was on earlier and not looking forward to the journey to your lovely Country but she's really looking forward to meeting you and i think vice a versa
hi soodele, hi all
Hi Peri
(((Lilli, Peri))) yeah! Been chatting with Trif! Hopefully, Monday's the meet-up day! Cannot wait!
And, Lilli -I'll be back in the UK in early August. My sister is taking her 3 kids to the Harry Potter exhibition in London & I'm tagging along!
It'll be great. You'll have a lot to chat about.
It's great having stuff to look forward to!! 😊😄😊
If only you could come up north Soodle.I can't do London...Too many tunnels..
Lilli - I'm feeling very positive right now..... Anything is possible.
Hubby has been to Northern and Southern Ireland alot the last few months, and the bairn and i could have come over but flights went to quickly and that was a couple of weeks ago.
How long are you here for ?
Plus, the flight's too short for me, as i get dizzy taking off and sleep for a couple of hours, so i told hubby not to bother.I'd prefer him to take us when he's home for a while and we can go in the car and on the ferry
I'm better with long haul flights as i just sleep alot :-)
We're leaving Mon 1st August - back the following Thursday. My niece is 14 & nephews are 12 & 10. It'll be a busy few days. I'm really looking forward to it. I believe the WArner Bros Harry Potter thing is great.
Plus!! During this current heatwave, I persevered in my kitchen redoration. In 29 degree heat, I was still slapping up paint! I deserve a treat!!!
Redecorating
Aye, i think hubby has taken tourists to it.I know he's spoken about it.
Yes you do hin and i bet the paint dried very quickly!
It sure did!
my bairn is up in Scotland at the moment with her Grandad. He wanted to go to Aberdeen as he wanted to go over the bridge(his words) but they went over 3.They went on monday and come back tomorrow lunch time.
Nice to sit back now & admire the fruits of my labours! So... You home alone too, Lil?
She keeps him going bless her and has done since she was born.
Hubby back tomorrow night for a few days which is a luxury this time of year.
Aw, Bless!
I must confess.... I was very a
Apprehensive when my youngest took off for the Summer. But I find I enjoy my own company very well!
Without her he'd probably be dead now in a gutter,(my husband's word's) as after his wife died he went out drinking all the time and would fall over in the street and people would help him home. When i had the bairn it gave him something to live for.
Mine is going away to college in September and will be living there 5 weeks on and 2 off and i'm a bit apprehensive about it because she's not good at making friends and still young
I hear ya, Lilli! But - she'll be grand!!
She's been bullied alot in her life because of her hair colour but as i've told her and friends have said, she'll be with older people and others her age who are away from home.I really hope she makes some friends.
The problem is Soodle, she's so down on everything! I've never met such a pessimistic person in my life and her dad and me aren't like it.
She said that she'll be a loner as always and isn't there to make friends but to learn.I don't know where the hell she got that from!
shit. That's difficult, Lilli.
sometimes people react against what their parents are like.
there is such a thing as shyness and introversion. it is born in us, one cannot just snap out of it
I just don't know what to do.her dad,my parents' and friends' have spoken to her so i hope she's listened and will just relax and hopefully make a couple of friends atleast. The problem is she also judges people from the first time she sees them, which doesn't always help and i've told her never judge a book by it's cover
She's like me as she's quiet first when she first meets someone but after that she never stops talking
She's a moody teen which doesn't help
People who are somewhat shy and careful about who they interact with, usually make better friends in the long run. They don't believe in every yahoo they meet.
my daughter is definitely not shy or introvert TO
Very true Molly. She is very much like that. The problem is when she was younger she was very friendly but then when the bullying started she became withdrawn and didn't mix so much because she was scared of re-jection and even now she's had friends at school but wasn't in the mix so much.
I think that's the problem...she's afraid of being rejected
perhaps things will work out differently when she is there. no sense worrying now
So, if she's on her own, no-one can reject or ignore her.I'm really hoping that at college that will change as she won't have me nearby to keep her company, but there is always the phone.
We are all afraid of being rejected. Your daughter sounds like she has a strong sense of self. That will take her far. "Being accepted" is not all it's cracked up to be.
I know TO.Fingers crossed.
i told a mother not to worry :/
She is a strong character and won't take crap from anyone now which also leads to people not wanting to talk to her as she can be quite scary...she comes across quite moody aswell
Aye, i'll stop worrying when i know she's settled :-)
first impression. important but not insurmountable.
going to see about dinner, now that the AC is back on. hope it holds out, cannot afford the replacement at the moment. will be first dinner in three days.
Well, hopefully all will be great. I'm not normally a worrier as i always say, 'there's no point in worrying until something happens'. I should listen to myself!
Glad it's working again To.Keep cool hin :-)
Enjoy your dinner too.
it is going to be brutal for the next week at least.
you like sun but you would NOT like this.
I don't like humidity like it was here today. Fingers crossed it keeps working for you as it's not nice to be hot and sweaty!
Lilli - my youngest was exactly as you described your bairn. Introverted, self sufficient. She was forced into being outgoing - and n
is reaping the rewards now
It took a lot of effort on her part, but she is in a happy place now.
Good for her Soodle, hopefully my bairn will be the same, but she has to stop being angry at people first.
st 6/27 please?
think WWII fighter plane move
thanks Une!
yw :-)
I wasn't seeing the possiblility of using that vowel in the 4th position
tr 7/32 please?
tr* prefix for 3 + c**** de menthe is a green liqueur
and c**** brulee was my mom's fave dessert :-)
thanks so much Une, that's fireworks for me. Hubby breathing down my neck to use computer so I had to finish quick :-)
congrats!!!
that is a good dessert
thanks
any clues needed quickly before I have to surrender the computer?
I'm good, thanks :-)
ok then good nite
gnite:-)
hello everyone - late getting back to this today
st7 the first one, please?
first one I have are people who have not sinned and therefore can throw rocks
That is the later one
You guys! who was it that pointed me toward Jigidi the other day? it's fabulous, thank you! :)
There are two st7/28 and one st7/44, I need the first st7/28, please?
what is jigidi?
a free jigsaw puzzle site
puzzles my cats can't "help" with :)
oh -- I go to a different one where I can make puzzles from my own pics and have up to 500 pieces
any of these clues for the st7/28?
you can make puzzles in jigidi
you can do that at jigidi too (i haven't done so, and therefore have no idea how easy it is)
its easy
but i used to do puzzles all the time, and now have no space to lay them out and if I did i'd have cats running off with pieces, so i haven't done any in years...
st + sound of hesitation + craggy hill
so it's really nice to have a way to do them. I don't know why it never occurred to me to look online but I'm glad it got mentioned here :)
thanks

Howdy babblers
howdy
lady! I haven't seen you in ages
Heyas kids ..
Hi tor
Good Evening Everyone; how are you doing tonight?
Hi herin
OK Nef, how about you?
doing okay, trying to stay cool (like so many others I guess right now)
hi
Hi Jess been busy
HI Origami and Tor
hi herin. :-)
It has been remarkably cool here ... in the mid to upper 80's. Very unusual for this time of year. Usually over 100.
coming up for air --- hi tor, nef, herin
SoCal weather has been most pleasant lately as well ..
Hi. Cyber/
Hi cyber
It was 86 (F) today, which doesn't sound bad, but the humidity was somewhere around 75% & the next 3 days are going to be worse.
Don't you live in the land of perpetual 75 tor?
Ugh Nef ... "at least it's a dry heat here." Which doesn't help much hen it's 110.
We have heat warnings; they say that it will feel like it's 110 tomorrow with this heat & humidity
blech!
Yeah. Not looking forward to it either
Yes, 75 except when it's colder or 100+ ..
I really didn't think it got that hot there Tor. I guess we should enjoy it while we got it :-)
*!* ta da *!*
yay nan!
good night everyone - see you at the flip
We had high 90's and 100's here the last few years in July and August ..
We're in the middle of having our floors refinished; & I just bought some end of season perennial flowers that I need to plant; but emptying the rooms for the floor refinishers has kept me from putting in those plants.
