Bye Zooz
How is your mother Glant? I remember she was having lots of issues
she passed away at the end of May 2014. Thankfully she was ready to go.
we have been trying to sell her house ever since, may have a buyer at the moemtn but they need to sell their house first
Gosh its a long time since I have spoken to you.
yes, I stopped babbling for a while - there were things going on in the chat that i didn't enjoy :-)
now I am semi retired and can babble on days like today while I am minding grandchildren
There are!
still?
maybe a tad better.
You must be a different person now - you were crazy busy before
i haven't seen any since i came back recently, perhaps it's a 'time fo day' thing. I tend to babble in the mornings
I am so relaxed these days I can't believe it. I work part time in a castle, and am quite enjoying that, don't need to think about it when I am not there
I know exactly how you feel
minding the grandchildren about 18 hours a week, which is a bit of a tie, but enjoyable, they are lovely little people
how many? The childhood part goes so quickly so nice to have that bond
i have 6 altogether, but mind 3 of them on weekdays, either before or after school - girl aged 12, boy aged 8, girl aged 7
they are the ones who lived abroad all their lives, moved to my town about 15 months ago
wow!
Good morning, ladies
i used to visit them 2-3 times a year for a week or two when thye were in Germany & Cyprus
Hi Ruby
hi Ruby
ah yes, its coming back to me
The sun is shining but I think toay will be the hotest of the summer
NY is having a heat wave as well
I love the heat, bu worry about the fluffy pups
Yesterday was really hot here Ruby, today is sunny but not quite as hot (so far)
I think it was over 35C, rarely does that here
The Tour de France will be around this part of the Alps for 3 days, including passing one of my friends' houses, but it's better on TV
That's really hot for Wales!
we were melting :-)
I put ice cubes in the dogs' water

Good morning, everyone :)
Hello again. 147 this morning.
Is everybody OK?
morning, all :-)
another day with heat index of 100 degrees -- ugh
bonjour, une
salut, ruby :-)
C'est vraiment le canicule ici!
"dog days"
Crossy, is it too hot for a hug?
We are having a summer respite. It was in the mid 50's last night and low humidity
omg, bichon, that sounds heavenly!!
Yesterday, today and tomorrow will be like this. Fri. heats and humifies up again. Next Thurs. I leave for NoCal and a break in the weather.
good morning everyone
Glantarell, are you still here?
hey flosey! :-)
Hi Flosey, just come back
we spoke quite some time ago about hubby's grandmother coming here from Wales as a teenager - we have finally found some relatives in Wales and have communicated by email
brilliant - remind me of which part of Wales they are from?
will have to wait until hubby gets up!! he has the information filed away - contact was a few months ago - also found some living in Victoria and we've visited them
That's good. My son and I visited Palermo, Sicily a couple f years ago and knew that two of my great grandparents came from the city but had no address to look up :-(
They were on their way to the US, but realised one of them was ill and would get turned away at Ellis Island, so they got off the ship at Liverpool, England.
wonderful - would be great to find them - here we have a 'Canada 411' system where you can enter a name and town, is there any chance that you might have similar?
Nothing like that Flosey. We have 10 year census documents going back from 1911, but you really need a city district as a minimum.
I know what happened after they got to England, just don't know where they lived in Palermo, or what they did there.
hope you will be able to find them - or find someone who has known them
My mum did lots of work on the family tree, but Italia records are very hard to find. She went right back to the 1500s for one branch of the family, but came to a full stop with a male who had been placed in a Nunnery. Apparently this was usually because the mother was a servant and the Father was somebody important who was not going to acknowledge their child.
But she could find almost nothing about the Sicilian branch of the family - the Politti family
hi all. any clues for the 9 out there? ty.
ah, how sad Glantarell, that child must have grown up not knowing either parent?
not here, mkg. i'd love a clue for the middle row R though
mkg the 9 is very cross ending with a monster
root word is an5/14 mkg, then 7/36, (more so) 8/50 and 9/66 (most)
i will try ti find root. ty.
Yes, that child grew up knowing neither parent, and was trned out of the Nunnery to make his own way aged 15.#
oops, the 8 is most, the 9 a matter of feeling
thanks Flosey!
middle row r is a person who regrets something or the regrets themselves
yw jbp
that's from a different R, glantarell, but thanks
there are two associated words and one of them is from that r
or are they from top left r?
it is to set up sails again
if you mean both are ru 4/5, then i have 'em
re5 the act of being a king/queen
ty kje
i had it but didn't know which one it was
got that one also, but not from that R
yw
cant find the an words. is it an 5 14 that is the root?
the feeling, yes
an*** as a bee, mkg
an*** as a bee, mkg
i have the 8 but not the nine. ty.
ok well i have some of it but not the 9.
oh, a saying we don't have here
when i am so mad and can't do anything about it, i wallow in my an&&&****
the state of being mad
look it up on morewords mkg
i'll have to come back for that R... haver a good rest of the day, all!
the middle R might be re 5/10---piney stuff
the lone R is to set sails again
i think vowels are messing me up. i have the 5. then a 7 and 8. for the 9, i assume ends like the loch monster but i dont see two Es in the grid.
9 doesn't have 2 es but does end in monster
it has an i in the middle
mkg, the 9 only uses one E
ok got the 9 from more words. i never ever heard or saw that word. thanks for all the clues.
use the first 4 letters of the an8
you got it, good
oops i only got an 8 from that one. darn.
see my clue at 7:47
now i have two an 8s. both are 8/50. ugh.
ok i finally got it. the 9 i mean. ugh. ty ty ty. it did end as i thought it would. ty much
yw
more words was so not a help. but ty all cluers.
regin
oops sorry
re middle row is not either of the words clued. i dont have it yet but i do have the piney stuff.
well i dont see that middle row R word and have not gotten it. off to work now. back later.
lone r=re+oil r**
thanks, movieman

beth what type of problems are you having?
I made it to 100 words:)
do any of the mu7's have a double cons?
... got one plural
hi dose
... hello
have 4 with a double cons
ty dose and cyber
... I'm still missing two m"s but with the double "r" I've got mu 4/5/5/6/7
I have a mu 7/36 ending in an e:)
.. well that's one I'm missing
double cons dose:)
ther are 4 that sound like some form of the eye drops
... that gives me six with the double consonant ... but I'm still missing an m ... but I'll find it
I have another mu7/36 that is pl
cyber does one end in e?
yes
... I've got to "mu"s with double consonants that are 7/36 ... and you've mentioned both
... two
same spelling for another one minus an r and a pl goes with it
dose yes they are the two of the three mu 7's that I have
Oy. This Pokemon shit has got to stop.
judi I know I don't get it, and this morning on the Kelly show they said the word Pokémon is in the dictionary now
judi ???
... must admit that Pokemon does not make me look forward to the return to school
Brainless people gaping at their smart phone screens, walking into traffic, tripping over curbs. Ridiculous!
i have never played it and i never will
judi not any better then texting
I think phones should go back to being phones, not mini computers
People are also doing while they drive. How stupid is that?
... too late for that I'm afraid
dose and it probably shouldnt
cyber my husband and i have said it repeatedly, phones can do anything but make a phone call.
anyone caught texting or talking on a hand held device while driving up here gets and automatic $250 fine
*an
as they should but it wont stop them from being careless or any such thing as that
Same laws here, nan. Not that anyone pays attention or abides by them.
... nice commercial about distracted driving being aired here ... ... kid reaches over to answer a text and the airbag opens ... ... next scene has the kid sitting in a wheelchair ... brain dead ... with a nurse talking to him and turning him toward the window to let the sunlight in ... ... not likely to have much affect though
mind you, I think talking to someone on a remote mike while driving is just as distracting
every once an a while the police go on a campaign and do a crack down
dose none of them do but their are some good ones out there
they need to get wi fi so they can talk hands free
It's like everything else - we can make the laws but it doesn't do any good if we don't have enough police to enforce them
i just recently saw a person walking around wearing a headset while talking to someone on their cell.. not something i have seen for quite some time now
We're all in "the cloud".
the problem isn't really the police its the people who do it, it just doesn't register in their heads. Pay it and move on/do it again.
not me -- only cell phone I own is a flip phone and we only use it in case of emergency while on a road trip
that is awesome cyber
... well ... down to 60 ... finally ... and I've used up most of my library computer time getting there ... ... must force myself back to the books ... somehow ... back at next break ... ... luck to all
Smart phones are making us dumber. And less attentive, and more distracted. Hang up and see the roses.
bye dos
fr 7/44 please?
Don't have that one yet, nan.
judi we need more cell phones that make phone calls and don't do anything else
Well, I do admit to loving my GPS app. Saves me from having to buy a separate device.
judi that is true
wouldn't want to do that mlf! - our kids might actually speak and spell the language!
scary thought cyber?

Good Afternoon Everyone; how are you all today?
Just peachy keen
fine, nef and you?
Fab thanks Nef, greetings from sunny Somerset!
hi mummy
Hi
Hi Mlfan
I'm fine, staying inside due to heat & humidity today (& the rest of the week)
It was only 32 here today...
ta 5/14?
We've have perfect weather yesteray and today and will have tomorrow. Low humidity. But that won't last after tomorrow
ta7/28 pls
mummy, was that temp (C) or (F)?
ta 5/14, when something is very sad, it is *****c
ty bichon
New money,! C
not getting your clue, bichon
It's 90 (F) here, but the high humidity (60%) makes the heat index of 108 & we have heat warnings for the rest of the week here.
ta5/14...most of the store with red and white circles in its ads

hi wv
I've just come back to get my last 80.I need to read through chat so i can catch up on clues and husband home for a few days after nearly 5 weeks away but i don't know when he'll be back again...
bye annie
good afternoon all
ty teach
Yw and Hi
open chat you might find a few
hi lilli & wv; how are you doing today?
Hi Nef and Teach
enjoying a relaxing day - out late last night with grandkids
Fine thanks Nef apart from the fact that we're sweating here. It's humid and we're not used to it!
third mu 6/24?
enjoy your day then wv. were you out partying?
wv another free concert with free beer?
no their parents were out at a concert - i was stying with the two kids (5 and 10)
who went to sleep first wv?
mlf, pl the mu5 with a vowel on end
the one I have doesn't pl?
Enjoy your relaxing day then Teach, sounds like you need it :-)
unfortunately we (all three of us) we still awake when parents came home at 1:30 this morning - we had negotiated to turn videos off at 12:30 and I was not watching the tim and they weren't going to remind me - luckily we could all sleep in this morning
Then change the vowel Mlf
mu + able cons is a 4//6, 5/14, 6/24
wv that is too funny!
that was DOUble consonants
got it
both
they should have been exhausted - they both do gymnastics and had a classs from 5 - 8:45 that evening
Teach, being a parent, you should know that bairns will always play that game...i always sat on my dad's lap and had a cuddle so he'd forget the time, but my mam always remembered!!
they were probably wound up
They probably were but they with you and enjoyed their time doing things with you and also getting away with a little bit more than they probably would with their parents.
I knew that nothing was scheduled for today - and hope that they would sleep in so their parents could get smoe sleep - and I also cancelled what I usually do for today and slept until almost noon
3rd mu6 please?
noting wrong with sleeping in wv:)
my grandson does the same thing, but I found that if we're in his bedroom (when he's here) we can quietly talk or read & he falls asleep pretty fast
My 8 y.o. grandaughter is going to a wake for her great grandmother. I am so afraid of her reaction to her deceased body
Grand parents always let the bairns off a liitle more than parents and have more patience than they did with their kids...I know my mam and dad do.
bichon sometimes they are not phased by things like that
Nowt wrong with sleeping in Teach.I hope you enjoyed the lie in.
bichon, if you go with her; she doesn't have to go see the body OR you can remind her that the body is there but her spirit is gone.
their parents also let them stay up during this ssummer break - their mom often works until 9 so they like to be together when she gets home - and then they all just sleep in
She will be, they were very close and saw each other every day
its a part of life bichon
Bichon, is it an open coffin?
I think 8 is very young to see a deceassed love one
I must admit,i agree with you Bichon
Of course it is open. The Ukranians do it that way. We Jews don't do that. I remember touching my parent's bodies and feeling how cold they were, I got hysterical.
My son (who is now 37!) still has never seen a body at a wake (even when it was a close school friend); he just stays away from that end of things. My daughter was about 4 when she saw my uncle at his wake & she figured out that the body was just the container for the person
My g'daughter is very emotional
third mu6 please?
I hope that her parents prepare her for it then.
3rd mu 6 that I have ends in a gerund
I think a child should remember a loved one as they last saw them, but saying that, that might not be a good thing depending on how that person died.If they died from natural causes and wern't there they shouldn't see them in an open coffin
I don't know how you can be at age 8 to see that.
thank you nef finally got the M words done
Lillian I think it depends on the situation
My Mom died when I was 8 & we weren't allowed to go to the funeral (it was in a different state--long story) because of time & cost, etc. I never *really* believed she died.
I was 10 when my grandmother died and wasn't allowed to go to the funeral. I just hope this works out ok.
I did not attend my dad's funeral my mom wanted me to go in the car with her a sibling and my aunt and uncle with the coffin I told her no
May Please have a clue for that 2nd column "R" please? I still don't have NBT
and it was out of state as well
nef I think both are ru 4's
I must admit i was 8 when both my grandad's died within months of eachother and my brother was 12 and we weren't allowed to go to the funerals and we've always been upset about that, b ut i wouldn't have wanted to go and see an open coffin with them in it.
its a time ot really say good bye lillian

I take it my clues haven't helped Marc, sorry
they helped me lili, thx! :)
Sometimes people don't respond when they ask for a clue.
yw and i'm glad about that :)
That's true Molly, but mostly that's because they don't get the clue and don't want to ask again.
Marc is not logged in anymore. Sometimes people ask for clues and then move onto to other things. Perhaps they get the clue if they read back over chat later.
Ah ok.
I've been trying "turgid" all day lol
my phantom is signature....
Also clues given from Us Brits and our friends across the pond are also different because of words, sayings and names of all sorts of things that we eat and use for health purposes are different.
good one pen
m9f9l said that aswell Pen and hi :)
Swede, digestive biscuit, today fr6 was clued as bangs...I get the fact that terms are different in different countries. Not to mention all those extra U's in words.
hi...
good point lili, although it's fun (to me anyway) to hear other words. I have a bit of an advantage because my mom/mum grew up in England and she was always quick to point out that 'US English' is not the REAL English ;)
Swede biscuit, i take it that is your bangs and our short hair cut on forehead?
She's right Blah :-)
Where did she grow up Blah?
Plymouth...she was the only one of 6 sibs to emigrate to the US
So you have loads of family here?
That's oo-aw accent
Yes, although mostly in the Purton area now
what area are you in, Lili?
Like Somerset...'i can't read, and i can't drive but i can drive a tractor'.But writing it here isn't the same as you need the accent
North
Near Newcastle
i can't read and i can't write but i can drive a tractor
My Nan lived in Somerset for years and she is from Northumberland
Do you get to see them Blah?
I haven't in ages, but I'm on facebook with most of my cousins and my aunt...nice to be able to keep up.
I have a great pic of me in the local pub in Purton...the landlord and landlady had never seen an American before and they insisted I come behind the bar and pull a pint
Then when I went back a couple of years later they chided me for not bringing the pic with me! Like I was a local celebrity lol
lol, but did you pull it right?
One the United States colonists defeated British rule, they changed their language a bit to reflect their freedom from what is referred to as REAL ENGLISH.
Is Purton in wiltshire?
That's why the changes in spellings and words then. I can understand why they did it as they wanted to be their own Country and have nowt to do with British rule.
Nice of you to say that Lil. To this day, there are still nasty posts on the internet on July 4th (US Independence Day) that say HAPPY TREASON DAY YOU UNGRATEFUL COLONISTS, which some people find funny. I don't. Many people died in the fight to make my country free from British rule and I find those comments offensive.
and what do your Native People call July 4?
Well, i suppose that's the same with English people here that fought and died because they thought your country was part of ours and they were told it belonged to us and that's why they fought for it.I'm glad we all have our own Countries and independence
Hi Lyn
hi Lil
That's a good question Lyn
Native Ameicans had the shortest straw!
*American's
Ah, there is the bitter pill
Do you not think so Molly?
That's why i don't normally get involved in History and Politics....I don't want to argue about it.We all have our opinions about our own Countries History and politics
Good evening, everybody :)
Hi Crossy :)
Lil, I have a deep understanding and appreciation of the native people of all countries. The Indians of my country, the Aborigines of Australia, the Inuits of Canada. They were the First People and they were taken over by others.
I didn't say you didn't Molly, it's just that we/our different countries took away alot of their independence and way of living which is a great shame
A thousand times a thousand years will not undo the damage us "colonists did to our own First Nation peoples. They were here first, and this was their land--not ours. It is our shame. Perhaps, one day, our FNMI peoples will forgive us.
There's no true words that mean the the same Crossy!
I just type too slow, so took me longer, lillian :)
On tablet :)
What you said was right Crossy :)
No problem Lilliann. You indeed didn't say I didn't.
The problem with history is that we don't always know the truth...we hear of what happened but no-one is here to tell us now so supposedly happened and when we are told something historical we might or might not believe it
Sadly, in many cases, history is only written by the victors...
Do we believe or not? I want to believe in some things but without the evidence and that might not be true...so to me history is what we believe in as individuals
So true Crossy
I don't know about other countries, but there is a lot of great Native American history written by those who first inhabited my country. And I have great respect for that history.
I am happy that our current government has taken steps to include FN representatives in the highest levels of policy and decision making. Leads me to believe we are progressing.
I'm glad that it has been documented about the Native Americans' Molly
I was talking about so many eras Molly, not just about the Native Americans
FN Crossy?
First Nation
What does that mean?
FN First Nation, what they call the indigenous Indians in Canada
Yes, First Nation/ Metis/ Inuit
And Lil, I understood that you were talking about so many eras. That is why I mentioned other countries and the First People there.
Oh ok. Great!
Oh ok, sorry Molly
