Doesn't like sunnies! I wore my sunnies, when I went whale watching this morning!
Liz, whale watching where?
Clues are up
Off the Gold Coast - we go pretty much every week in the season. We were actually out with Migaloo last Tuesday.
Thanks, Lickety
thanks Lickety
oh flip! LOL YAY Lickety!
hi Stid
Hi Stid
pa8
Thanks, Ru. Looking.
hey all
hello stid
hey ruru -- how
how's life in sunny CA? It was really hot in Ashland when we left on Friday...
nice here today.. but we've been having hot weather.
glad it was pleasant today -- too many warm days in a row and I find I am pretty useless. More so, even, than normal! ;-)
in the 80's here today.. very mild
finally NBT. :-) It was cloudy this morning, so I am not sure we broke 75 here at home. Inside it stayed below 73.
in 8
ah.. my missing 8
I'm still missing yours!
little hint towards that in 8?
You might live there?
Compound word
I'm sure you'd think of a much better clue
FWs
Congrats, Diz
ty
YAY dizgrannie!!!!
Clue for that pa 8 pls?
can't seem to find that in 7/8
in 7/8 in + dw 5 & pl
not colored passages pa8
wow... I am still trying to figure out the in 8 clues. :-) should probably finish tomorrow. Going shopping with Mother in the morning and need to be awake for that!
Contains an unusual letter combo for the 3rd and 4th letters.
in + reside
thank you.. done now
OK- I was trying not to be too obvious!
Congrats, Ru.
YAY ruru!
in + what elmer fudd fell in :D
Thanks for that pa 8
:)
huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh
Possibly a groan sneaking out there!
I love finishing grids on the early side
I can't do half groans.. :D
OK - have a full groan!
YAY
too tired, though I am sure the clues are good... thanks for the conversation. have a great week, all! *poof*
Sleep well Stid.
bye stid
Also taking a break. No more words coming now. BBL or tomorrow to finish.
*sigh* yep. Got it finally -- on the way out. LOL *real poof*
Elvis. has. left. the. building.
nobody around to hold my hand?
{{hugs}} my darling sprite
hello sweetie :D Glad to see you. My girl has gone. In tears. Ugh.
oh no, you poor love. here snuggle up to grannyrose and here's a tissue... in fact take the whole box.
Caya was in tears. I was strong. Mostly. And now I don't know what to do with myself, lol.
*cuddles up to rose*
it's a big change for both of you. and rob as well.
yeah, but Rob is with her now, helping her move. His moment of truth will be tomorrow evening when he leaves her there.
oh boy that has to smart. poor man. i hope he will be okay driving.
yeah he will be. We are strrrrrrrong parents. We can do this.
*soft chuckle*<---- pulling a wry face.
*grin* Fake it till you make it, right?
i saw your email. i can't wait for the next chapter.
so... how are you, my darling?
oh! Glad to hear it! Will work on it every day I can
not too bad sweetheart. i am more concerned for you. this has to bring on those ghastly nightmares again.i have been sitting with feet up for better part of the day.
my left ankle actually fits into my other shoes again.
oh, sweetie, one thing... could you please do your editing in another colour or underlined? It is a little hard to find your valuable contributions this way. And please, be as pedantic as you can be :D
I am so proud of you. You are taking good care of yourself. I know that is tough. Glad the pain isn't too devastating atm.
np's sprite. this is my first time as an editor.. do you want me to send them again, marked appropriately?
oh if you could? Yes please!
np's. will do it later, after you have gone. xoxox
all good, no hurry :)
i seem to have a triangle of pain when standing and/or walking. between both hips and my lower back. i really must get my act together and have the MRI for the orthopod.
after babble, I am gonna do some moving of boxes etc to Caya's old room. I am gonna sleep there. It will be lovely to have a bed on the floor, in stead of one I have to climb in with a ladder.
oh! Yes you do. That is a rotten triangle.
oh good lord, you have had to climb a ladder to go to bed? how awkward.
yes, my bed is actually hanging from the ceiling. Quite the space saver, but with my body it has been kinda hellish to get in and out of bed.
when she comes home on the weekend will she be okay with using your old bed?
nah when she comes home, I will move to my old bed and let her have her own.
fw and off to bed, has been a busy weekend, goodnight all
wouldn't want her to feel her place here has been taken
night night flosey
maybe for the first few times sprite. but Caya also has to learn mum and dad are moving on. it would be good for her to realise what you have sacrificed for her. and don't hide behind but, but, but.
sweet dreams dear flosey
maybe. We will see. For now, it will be a huge difference to use her bed on week nights. She will be home every weekend for the next 6 weeks because her work is still here until that time.
inlaw is bugging me. Needs a dash, I take it?
roflol. just went out for a drink, gave don a quick hug on the way past to which he responded help i'm being molested again in a tiny voice.
when i laughed he added... please?
lolollll lovely man
yup sprite apparently it does. never mind the hundreds of words enable says don't need an hyphen, and i jolly well know they do need one.
enable is arbitrary as can be. Gotta love it though.
well i have learned a lot of new words in other languages. so it can be very educational.
true. Makes me feel so eclectic, to know all those crazy words
strange... no dutch words... or icelandic...lolll
not sure how enable would translate a grunt
oh there are a few dutch words in there too. Like 'kaas' = dutch for cheese
and 'haar' = dutch for hair
oh so there are...
of course, words like 'apartheid' and 'kraal' are dutch too, but made it into the english language through south africa
so is the double a pronounced like ar as in hard?
no it isn't. It is a longer sound. You don't have the equivalent in english. If you say BAAAAAA and open your mouth as wide as you can, you are making the right sound
so more breathy?
hm yeah I think so, and with more power behind it
i can see himself and i will be on a very strong learning curve when we visit.
it will be such fun
we finally received all our held mail today. form in it which was supposed to be returned by the 30th July... like that is gonna happen.
ugh no. Darn administration. The energy it consumes... yuck.
they weren't to know we weren't home. ah well, will take my time, get it right and call into the office in person
it will work out
did i ever tell you how much i hate filling out forms??
you may have mentioned it once or twice *cough*
lollll... love ya
*grins* I know how it is... it drives me batty too. My brain resolutely shuts down and refuses to come up with the answers
you and i are going to be like liz and i...endlessly talking and laughing together
oh yes. we won't start yapping until after the plane has lifted off again
ikr?? i was trying to do a sudoku the other day... brain shut down. don was amazed when i threw it to the other side of the room.
I totally understand. They have no idea how frustrating it is when your normally sharp mind goes AWOL
it drives me nuts. on e minute i am totally absorbed in what is happening, the next... glazed eyes and non comprehendi
I hear ya. Bugs me no end.
our poor spouses... we do try them to the most ut!
to the very most ut
lolll you understood what i was saying... gosh... you are so amazing.
*grins*
mind you...if you have never watched the Jetsons you haven't lived.
amen!
roflolllll
flippin' pa8 had no singular... how is a simple dutch girl to know?
and a simple aussie girl...
she neither
hmmmm...
especially as there is no definition !!
ahhh, a different spelling of wise as in sidewise
it means "vertically -- in a vertical direction; "a gallery quite often is added to make use of space vertically as well as horizontally""
really ???? how interesting...
english is a fascinating language
yes it is. my darling grandfather opened my eyes. he was an amazing teacher.
fireflies
he died just as i was able to quote the english poets.
WTG SPRITE !!!!
what a shame... you'd have loved to have him around for longer, I bet
sprite, the darling man went swimming in port phillip bay when he was 88 years old.
amazing. Love him already :)
i knew you would love him.
sweetie, I am gonna do some physical lifting etc to get my mind off Caya's leaving. *hugs* and lots of love. I hope you will sleep well tonight.
{ hugs}} darling. just make su7re you rest in between chores. xoxox
I will :)
<---- holds sprite close.

gm, clue for the in7, plz?
nm found it
Good morning all
Oh, for the want of a T.
lays
oops
halfway! could somebody clue the top E (fifth column) please?
eo5/10 and 6
is a common word in our grids
ty rd :) nbt
it's also a common word for me to miss
I still don't have a 7.
I have no 7s or 8s :)
just got here
pa 8/75
I have that one but don't know what the other 8 is yet.
is that one a "normal" word?
not that I have heard but it is a compound if that helps
got it!
and a plural but no singular
and no singualr!
and no definition!
clue for the in7 plz
inlaw should be accepted as a word....ugh
I don't have any 7's yet but will look
pa8 . . . googled meaning of pa4: heraldry term: a band running vertically down the center of a shield
hello friends! River, you and I have something VERY wonderful in common now!!!
so pa8 must mean "in the direction of" the pa4
hey trif :-)
do tell Trif....do you have a art school graduate by any chance?
no - I met soodle!
and, yes, I DO have an art school grad, so I guess that is two things!
ty une. those heraldry folks have a word for everything.
oh that is right.....I saw the picture. That is wonderful. She is the best!
hi une
:-)
she is AMAZING. I was tickled pink
We talked for hours as if we had known each other for years.
we only had the pleasure of one hour (she was at work, and graciously took a long lunch). I can imagine a looooong night chatting if we get another chance
having an 8 ad no 7 is making me very uncomfortable. It feels like an unstable configuration of my screen.
she charmed the absolute hearts of my children in an instant, as she hugged each one with great warmth and exclaimed "Hello! I'm you auntie mary!"
they BEAMED
I was very luck she came to Galway while I was there and met me at my hotel. We enjoyed a couple drinks at the bar and then took a cab to a very nice restaurant. So yes I was lucky to have several hours with her.
got a 7!
she is the first babbler I have met, other than those I am related to, of course
she is a very warm and loving person
my first babbler too and last year I had the pleasure of meeting carleekat
my youngest daughter was convinced I was nuts for meeting a "stranger" from the internet, and was sure we were all going to end up in her freezer. BOY was she wrong! But apparently soodle's kids said much the same!
does anyone have the in7?
my daughter thought it was normal because she has been doing it for years meeting her flicker friends.
have a nice day all
still don't movieman
my kids apparently don't think anything I do is "normal" - nothing like a week's vacation to underscore THAT
they are very lucky you took them along
to be fair, they did pay their own way....I had to do ALL the driving, being the only one old enough to actually drive a rental car. 1255 km in six days!
oh poop - PB for me
and its not easy to drive there.
I actually found it fairly easy, once I got used to the left side factor
the GPS was a lifesaver, that is for sure
left side is weird especially when you enter those roadabouts
I was thankful I didn't have to drive. I was on a bus tour and that was scary enough in some areas
having a giant hedge an inch away from the car most roads was the biggest hassle. might have found a few (!!!) stray leaves in the mirror now and then....
Good morning, everyone :)
good morning crossy
good morning crossy dear!
I have to get to work now - have a great day everyone
take care river
that's my babble time up for this morning. good luck to all my babble friends

pa8 - light colored + methods
it is a plural with no singular if that helps, ruby
I was trying greyhound -- been away too long
I tried greyhound first also and gave up for a bit when the other came to mind finally!

I'm hanging in/on

She passed away, ruby.
OMG!!!
hi ch
That is horrible! She was so much younger!!
When id she pass?
She had heart issues
hi mlfan!
I knew she wasn't healthy, but I had no idea.....
She was a babbler I never had met in person but truly enjoyed chatting with. We are both medical transcriptionists, so we shared a lot of stories
She was very smart and funny, but I never got to know her beyond a few e-mails
wu 5?
And she always had big pl***
mlp, add the sometimes vowel to wu4
yup
wu5 ... add sometimes to wu4
why did I think of doing that, didn't try it and didn't "see" that it would work? duhh ty
... not to worry ... I tried the other two vowels at least five times before I thought of the successful way
hello car and all
Hello TO
hello TO
hi TO :)

hi owl
good morning everyone - crashed before the flip last night so just starting out
Hi Cyber

hi ruby, ch, car, fan, nan
anyone in here at the moment live in Pennsylvania?
fo 5 clue?
dance Bob
ty ch
:)
what do you need fan? nj is close
thought dance bob ended in ey
nothing important owl but ty anyway
not that it matters - got it from the clue :-)
Cy, Diane does, but not Bob
Or rather Dian does (no e in her first name) :)
I would have thought that fo5 was a proper name?
or is a proper name
still have 2 blanks -- right e and lone n
It is, but maybe it also means something else.... (I've wondered the same thing but been too lazy to look it up - lol!)
cyber I have two na words and an nu word
it
ch you and me both lol
Cy, the lone n ... often found in a church
it's easy to get tired of looking things up when there are too many unknowns
like the grid has a su 7 letter word but it doesn't work
I meant 6 letter word
ty - almost always found there --- any church I've ever been in at any rate
it's a proper noun mlf
since i cannot be of any help, i will go. bye now
hi blah I didn't think of it as such but fo5 is a person's name and that is fine?
i did offer.
bye TO
owl are you ok?
Fo5 is a moat
hi dp
fo5 means a ditch or trench...but i also think of bob...
Good point, cy! I usually think of a 'church' as a place of worship for any religion, but you are right -- it's defined as primarily Christian worship. I need to rethink my use of the word. :)
ohh ty
found the eo 5-6
and the ice cream su6 ends in an E, not a Y...hence the difference...
ok English lesson has concluded :)
lol!
Time to cook dinner for the pups. How to you get into another day's chat?
I think some of us failed lol
hints for the far-right S?
ruby, go up to ARCHIVES and click. That will give you each day by date.
and I'll make a toast to Mimicat in the pb!
su 5/12, 5/16
I was always pretty good at English...science and math, not so much
su5
TY cyber
ty cyber
un words help please?
just as good as in-law?
un4/5, un5/12, us4
oops last the first part of that!
ch I just need the un words clues please?
oh, sorry. un + 2 vowels, then plural.
my point was that if we can have thro or thru, why not inlaw?
ty ch np:)
babblet(s) that end in 2 vowels for the un 4-5 combo
I gtg
bye mlf
hints for the corner W?
anyone have stats for the 7?
He's a real wu4, eva... which makes him wu5
wu 4: ineffectual person
it's el7, cy, but I don't have it yet. looking...
multiple mr whitneys + bond's fleming
ah, thanks cyber!
just read your profile ch1212 - do you live anywhere near stidmama or stidmere?
I do! In the greater Seattle area. We haven't met up in person yet.
hubby and I met with both of them, husbands and stidkids 6 years ago when we were on our way to China for a cruise. We also have friends on Whidbey that we met on that cruise -- small world!
I haven't been a stranger to Bellisfair either!
Indeed! Speaking of cruises, I took my first one a few months ago. Beloved and I sailed to Alaska.
not one we have done yet, but plan to one of these summers. Did you take one of the small cruise ships, or the 2000 passenger + ones?
We sailed Norweigian, which is considered mid-size, I believe. Not too much walking, lovely ship, excellent service. I didn't know what to expect, and now I'm sold on vacation cruises.
we
we did an Adriatic cruise with Norwegian last fall -- loved the on shore excursions, but didn't like Norwegian -- felt like we were being nickle and dimed to death with all the extra charges for everything. We have always done all inclusive cruises with Viking before and would do that again. Also, we love PBS and because Viking spends their advertising dollars there, I would choose them over any equivalent cruise line
Whidbey is a ferry ride away, and we take off for the day to browse the shops and enjoy the views. This past weekend there was a 3 hour wait for the ferry at one point, so we stayed on this side of the Sound.
when we visited our friends there, we went over by ferry but came back on the bridge and headed north to Vancouver
Mmm... I haven't heard of Viking before, but will definitely look into them. Because it was my first-ever cruise, we saved up to have a lovely penthouse suite, and everything was included for us, with priority boarding and all that. I told my husband, "This was probably a mistake on your part because now I won't want to go for less than first class!" lol!
i've seen Viking's ads on PBS!
I can identify with that -- we save up for business class flights if we are going to europe -- 9 hours is just too long not to have a flat bed, lots of rooms and decent meals. With viking, any of the veranda cabins are good --- you really don't spend that much time in your cabin anyway, other than to sleep! Viking does both river and ocean cruises now, so we may do another one yet.
Yes, we went to Italy for 3 weeks several years ago and flew economy. NEVER AGAIN!
It's been wonderful to chat this morning, but breakfast awaits. {{{ hugs to all }}}
bye ch1212
need a break - back in a bit
la 5 please?

hi lyn
Hi - is your heatwave over?
yes.
it broke on maybe friday?
now we are in danger of flash floods
from rain/storms?
rain. the air is tropical these past three days. no lightening, just heavy downpours.
we danced zydeco in the rain Saturday evening.
how is your weather?
that sounds like fun, rain is OK when temp, and the music, is hot. We have been having a really cold Winter, good snow up in the hills, and quite a lot of rain
did you ever find any zydeco music there?
no - I think I told you that one I found has disbanded.
I think a few bands that are around only get together for the occassional small festival and the like. Nothing regular
i just found one, rockin zydeco, but they did not have a zydeco beat. not even close!
i see psycho zydeco is touring
mmm mainly NSW but will loook at the Wangaratta one in Oct...my husband maybe interested too - Thanks! BBL got a roofman (finally!) so need to do a few things
i played uncle bud, which is a well known song. it seems a bit lacking but then again most recordings of the music are. it is really something to hear live.
the other sample was def not zydecco.
