hehehe no, time flies, honey. I didn't have shifts in july. Have been back into the shifts since the start of august.
ugh.... that's not a nice picture. having done 10 hour night shifts for 5 continuous years, i feel for you.
sweetie, it is volunteer work. It is my choice to do this. They are shifts of 4 hours for telephone, and 3 hours for chat. I try to plan them well, with the day after a night shift free. I am fine.

Noticing the wave of the future here in the schools. the learning centre I used to volunteer at now has ONE teacher instead of six or eight. All courses are now in a computer module format. One big room, one teacher, and 50-100 students taking ten or fifteen different courses all in a single room. :(

yes, there are still "online" teachers for course-specific help, but only one teacher in the flesh as it were
18-25's mostly. Kids missing credits for graduation or needing college or uni prep courses

Two retired, rest transferred. I think the two were close anyways and saw the writing on the wall.

I feel bad for the kids, but i am sure they will adapt. personally, I am glad i got my college and uni prep course in a more traditional classroom setting before it was gone for good. I think it was a case of transfer, quit, or retire. I do not think they had a choice as to the transfer location.

Additionally, many of the computers are donated models that were given to the school board by large corporations upgrading employee towers/laptops. they are sent to a refurbishing company, they given to the schools in the area.
I am still a little sad over the loss of all those teachers :(

For my university English prep course, I had the option of doing the entire thing online, but I did not do so. For me, environment plays a large part in writing of that sort. I felt that I could do better with the human touch--an actual living, breathing teacher to bounce ideas and concerns off of.

but also get that feeback as well
I took two classes that way: EWC4U and ENG4U. I must say the experience is not one that I will soon forget, and it has changed the way in which I write in a very positive way.

Actually, I did all of it on computer; the research was online, and the writing itself was done in Microsoft Word.
But the important part was having a teacher present.
I have some nerve damage to my hands, so writing it all with a pen was not an option for me.

Both were a full and proper courses. It was just my medium for the assignment was a computer instead of reams of lined paper as in years gone by.
In a perfect world, there would be room for both teachers and computers. :(

The two most important things I took away from those English course was understanding the intricacies of APA and the perfecting of reference pages in that format, and secondly, of all things, stream-of-consciousness writing.

They normally do school work throughout the year and other trips.they actually take bairns to the school near us every day.The coaches are always dirty and the drivers wears t-shirts and jeans!.Hubby has been to your country loads of times this year but he drives a coach with Insight tours on it(Which is part of Trafalgar, which is actually a South African company)
Saying that, i can't put they're drivers down as i don't them and they do other tours through out the year and do dress better.
