3:28 am

3:28 am

i know that. you know that....

3:29 am

be sure to let him know that too, sweetie. This is not good for you.

3:29 am

and sprite... gp appointment is for....

3:29 am

thursday

3:30 am

okay.. thursday... but why are you consulting the gp?

3:31 am

lol sweetie... see 3.24 am ;)

3:31 am

ahhhh,okay

3:31 am

;) distracting, isn't it, a yelling person

3:32 am

your reaction to ....

3:32 am

is the yelling over yet?

3:33 am

artful artier

3:33 am

sorry

3:33 am

*grins* hi marigold, are you on another grid than we?

3:34 am

just a little mixed up

3:34 am

today... i have ironed, folded, and sorted clean washing.

3:34 am

:)

3:35 am

and done the kitchen table

3:35 am

and sorted stuff on the kitchen table

3:35 am

exactly my darling friend

3:36 am

has Don calmed down or removed himself from the room yet?

3:37 am

kitchen table is still being a problem

3:40 am

wow, tiredness had just hit me, going back to bed. goodnight all

3:40 am

sleep well, flosey

3:44 am

found the 10!

3:45 am

I hate rowdy groups of people. I am antimob.

3:46 am

love it, zooz, adding it :) *hugs* dear man... how are you, and how are your parents?

3:47 am

I am well thank you, Sprite. Father had collapsed yesterday and mother phoned me in a panic bless her..It turned out to be another passing out but he could of banged his head and could of been hurt bad or wordse!

3:48 am

I have told him before if he feels like he is going to pass out...to sit down quick...but no he insists he could make it to his chair or bed.

3:48 am

Worse*

3:48 am

today the usa will vote.. no matter who wins we are screwed lol

3:49 am

headstrong, isn't he... bless his heart. I am glad he didn't hurt himself too badly.

3:49 am

Yes it is in the news a lot here, Ivesy. I will wish you all the best over there!

3:49 am

very true, ivesy

3:50 am

There are two other candiates in the race too I believe.

3:51 am

shame that these candidates actually got this far.sad sad.

3:51 am

candidates*

3:51 am

yes zoo.. quite a few people are going to vote for those, becuz the main ones are horrible

3:53 am

I am hoping that one of them will not be as bad as everyone is making out. And that she will do a good job but if the other one gets in...who knows what will happen.

3:53 am

He might even surprise everyone by being excellent?

3:53 am

if the other one gets in, people are moving to canada loll

3:53 am

not bloody likely

3:53 am

not a chance zooz

3:54 am

LOL thought not, Jayk :-)

3:54 am

that man should have never got this far.. what is wrong with people !!!woe is us, woe is us lol

3:57 am

I think people are fed up with all the lies the politicians come out with and when someone from not a political background comes along and talks 'kind of' anti establishment talk people like that I guess?

3:57 am

yes zoo.. i think that it is exactly..if he wins they will be wondering what happened to his promises

3:58 am

off to get coffee...bbl

3:59 am

I have tea and it is lovley :-) Just saying.

3:59 am

You still here, Sprite>

3:59 am

good idea, back soon with coffee

4:03 am

Well he did not have too many promises that I saw in the first place, Ivesy, the ones I heard him say was to build a wall with Mexico and to lock Hillary up which is not exactly a policy. He must think being the president of the USA is a doddle...Sorry everyone I will get off my soapbox now. And back to the grid.

4:05 am

back with coffee

4:05 am

Ivesy, I agree that Americans have been given two horrible choices to vote for. I predict a record high non-voter turnout today.

4:06 am

he scares me to death and she is a horrible liar. Am so glad I don't have to vote.

4:07 am

you're going to br surprised molly

4:07 am

Well, no one has to vote. Personally, I can't have a vote for either on of those people on my conscience.

4:08 am

I don't have to vote since I am 'murican

I don't think Clinton is horrible. I think she is a politician (and therefore with all the flaws that entails). However, looking at Politfact, she is actually more honest than many other career politicians. I think she is suffering from being female - she is held to different standards from her male counterparts. Her husband was (in my opinion) a good president (though a less good husband - he really needed to learn to keep his pecker in his trousers) - but his sexual misconduct is not her responsibility. It's all not helped by the partisan nature of US politics and the press and web - we tend to see the sites/opinions we already kind of agree with (and I'm as guilty of that as the next person).

4:08 am

Oh, after the past two presidential elections, I think my "surprise" factor is all worn out.

4:08 am

isn't voting compulsory???

4:08 am

you still got, Gay Johnson, Jill Stein and Evan McMullin, Molly :-)

However, whatever one thinks of Clinton, she is far, far better than Trump, who is uncommonly narcissistic, ill informed and inconsistent.

It, to me, says something when I, a confirmed Liberal, think Bush (any of them) seems like a better alternative

4:09 am

Trump is scary as hell

4:10 am

not in the US, dizgrannie

4:10 am

Gary not gay oops lol

4:10 am

You do not have to vote here either if you do not want to.

Unfortunately, even if Clinton wins, it will be a difficult few years. Many Republicans have already said they plan to block anything she tries to do and many will try to rake up as much mud as possible. It won't be easy sailing either way.

4:11 am

nor here. But in Aussie you do

4:12 am

could I beg for a clue in the midst of these political discussions? For in7, please

4:12 am

Yes I saw that on the news last night, Matty. Sad state of affairs really.

4:13 am

have 40 left but am too interested in what you guys are saying

4:14 am

To receive money from a deceased relative, Sprite?

4:14 am

awesome, thanks zooz

4:14 am

Welcome.

4:15 am

Makes a change for me to give you a clue lol

4:15 am

*grins*

4:16 am

Hope Rose is okay..The last I saw posted was that Don was shouting about in the room.

4:16 am

yeah. After that, things got a bit unclear.

Anyone have the 10 yet?

4:17 am

Sprite does.

4:17 am

he 10/77

4:18 am

let me know if you want a clue

I will. :) I shall have a look first (though I don't have much confidence). Just one question - is it a work I'm likely to have heard of?

4:19 am

Yes

Happy days. Looking :)

4:19 am

yes, it is a relatively normal word

4:20 am

Phantom : Hibernation.

4:20 am

you are thinking in the right direction at least, zooz

4:20 am

*Moves Zoom halfway to the PB : D

Found it! Thanks

4:21 am

Oh crap have I done it again!

4:21 am

I am really sorry babblers.

4:21 am

*giggles* Gooooo zooz!

4:21 am

It's okay Zoom. Always nice to have company at the PB bar.

4:21 am

don't feel bad, zooz. Can't be a babble chatter without doing this every once in a while

4:22 am

Ah found it. My father has this.

4:22 am

*Clink* cheers, Molly!

4:23 am

Talking of which I had better go and see how they are doing. Happy babbling everyone!

4:23 am

found a bird I didn't know and now a scots verb I didn't know. My new words learned for today

4:25 am

bye zooz, have a grand day *hugs*

4:36 am

fireflies. Anything I can help with before I go?

4:39 am

ok, off with me :) *hugs* and hagd all

4:51 am

Phantom Babble friend in grid: swimbo :)

phantom: abomination

ooops

5:47 am

good morning all. help with st9 pls

5:50 am

Hi all. Sorry Peri - can't help.

5:50 am

np

5:51 am

Good morning, I hope

5:51 am

I'm on tenterhooks!

5:51 am

Hi Ruby - hope all's well with you (not speaking about politics!)

5:51 am

hi ruby, so far so good here.. Have not voted yet but will do so so.

5:52 am

Do you vote ruby?

5:52 am

Please report back on the visible mix of the voters, Peri

5:52 am

bbl

5:52 am

Have a good day, Peri

5:53 am

I should have, but was too enmired in my paper tsuris (sp?) to do so this year. If hillary loses by oe vote in Florida, I'll have to shoot myself!

5:54 am

Hopefully that won't be the case!

5:54 am

That's not a good ecuse (asgamed)

5:54 am

ruby, thinking of 2000 in Florida, we maay hve to exile you from Babble

5:54 am

Exactly!

5:57 am

First (light) snow today, but there are still roses, aconitum and sedum in flower and "my" trees are still colorful

5:58 am

Hope you can keep warm.

5:58 am

<wearing 5 layers of clothes and sitting by the fire -- not so bad!

5:59 am

I look like a little kid in a snowsuit or the Michelin an

5:59 am

And I guess you can cuddle the dogs!

5:59 am

It's still pretty mild during the day here. 65 today

5:59 am

No, they're wet from thr snow

6:00 am

I'm keeping very quiet about the weather!

6:00 am

My son is in NZ and has had a lot of rain

6:01 am

We desperately need some rain. There were storms all around us today but they missed my area completely.

6:02 am

we are in a rain shortage too. It's global

6:02 am

Hope he's enjoying his time in NZ despite the weather. We loved it there.

6:03 am

It's hard to imagine miving in a place as vast as Australia! Europe is so small, every country (aomost) is less tan 5 hrs away

6:04 am

He and his wife loved Sydney and are enchanted by NZ

6:04 am

I think you should probably compare it to America - it takes 5 hours to fly from the top to the bottom of Australia and about the same across.

6:06 am

It's like Texas, where my son livs, a whole day to drive across

6:07 am

It would take about 18 hours of solid driving to drive from where I am to where Rose is, in Melbourne.

6:07 am

Take me to N, now!

6:07 am

NZ, that is

6:08 am

I hope we get back there one day.

6:08 am

They had ooriginalluy plabbed on Melbourne instead of Sydney, but couldn' gett seats

6:09 am

I felt so far away and it would e nice to be there now

6:09 am

I prefer Sydney but like Melbourne too.

6:09 am

NZ and OZ are on my bucket list, but it's too late for me

6:09 am

OZ?

6:10 am

But I like Queensland better than either Melbourne or Sydney.

6:10 am

Oz - where I live.

6:10 am

Is that the name of the town?

6:10 am

Difficult grid for me. Brick wall with 50 left.

6:11 am

No, alternative spelling for Aus.

6:18 am

Is it too slangy for foreigners to use?

6:18 am

Don't think so.

6:19 am

I'm very cautious in French, not wanting ti offend or be conspicuous

6:20 am

I understand that but Aussies abbreviate everything.

6:20 am

XSaves time LOL

6:20 am

:)

6:26 am

Not seeing any more - back tomorrow to finish.

6:26 am

bye Liz

6:27 am

Hugs, Ruby.

6:39 am

hint for the st9 please

6:40 am

Hello Alley. Half, but nothing bigger than 7 'and only one of those!)

6:41 am

THIS is a nasty grid

6:42 am

The first 100 were finhe, but now -- pffft

6:50 am

Good morning and hello everyone!

6:50 am

I give up -- no nbt or nbs -- toonervois to qsit stuill

6:50 am

hi car.

6:50 am

goodmorning car.

6:50 am

((annie))

6:51 am

any wordon the composition og the voting lines?

6:51 am

((ruby)) When Bobby comes home we will vote. Bobby is very anxious to vote in this election. It is very important.

6:51 am

Just started...a few lined up and ready to go.

6:51 am

I voted last week. It felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

6:52 am

I havent turned the TV on yet. Too early.

6:52 am

car. That is exactly how I will feel once I vote.

6:52 am

I thought...how sad. I should feel proud, not relieved it was over.

6:52 am

This race is giving me too much anxiety

6:52 am

Me too.

6:53 am

I'm not "into" politics...never have been. The past two years has been a shining example of all that is wrong with this country.

6:54 am

Egos, money, lies, corruption....gross.

6:55 am

Ok..that's my soapbox. Sorry.

6:57 am

...what's the use of having a soapbox if you don't stand up on it from time to time? ...

6:58 am

Storing soap?

6:58 am

:)

6:58 am

... that's all in plastic bottles nowadays

6:59 am

I agree, Dose, but having stood on mine last week and having made some enemies, now I'm quiet

7:02 am

... that's what's truly wrong with America and most of the rest of the world now ... people of good faith and sound reasoning are no longer permitted to disagree ... there can be only one opinion ... the one that the speaker holds ... ... a sad state of affairs

7:02 am

All I can say is thank goodness it is nearly over. To be followed by months of boring Brexit!!

7:02 am

AMEN!

7:02 am

It drives me crazy, doseffing.

7:02 am

double amen!

7:03 am

Good luck today, America. Today is the end of the world.

7:03 am

I once heard there are 2 things to avoid in civilized conversation: Religion and Politics

7:03 am

Annie, that's so cool that you and Bobby will be voting together!

7:03 am

a good policy, redshoes

7:04 am

... hey ... I raised two poli-sci majors ... one of whom works for a provincial ministry and the other at city hall of the fourth largest city in North America ... you ain't seen political argument

7:04 am

I definitely agree about the inability to civilly disagree. Perhaps we've just lost civility in general.

7:04 am

dos LOL!

7:04 am

And hello all. :)

7:04 am

Good grief! Family dinners must be pleasant at your place.

7:04 am

hey :-)

7:04 am

HI redshoes

7:04 am

I think disaagreement can be therapeutic, less boring than being part of the herd

7:04 am

agreed ruby

7:05 am

bonjour une

7:05 am

My French friends are as worried as I am

7:05 am

They fear for Nato and the whole world

7:06 am

... fortunately I live in a relative small bedroom community east of the Toronto ... and they live in Toronto ... only see them for family birthdays, Christmas and Thanksgiving ... and when they dump boyfriends

7:06 am

I fear for the Supreme Court

7:06 am

It's also healthy and part of growth. If there were never dissenting opinions or differing views, we'd still be in the darkness.

7:07 am

... true ... but I fear the slipping back into darkness that seems to be happening

7:07 am

Also, I've had so many typos to correct this morning that it may be best for me to stop typing for now. :)

7:07 am

Yes, women's rights are at great risk

7:07 am

agreed dose

7:07 am

I fear a lot of rights are at risk -- including the right to disagree.

7:08 am

My generation fought long and hard for equal pay (neveer succeeded) etc

7:08 am

And as for harrassment on the job? snor

7:08 am

Supreme court and women's rights definitely teetering on the cliff :-(

7:08 am

ditto Ruby

7:09 am

snort*

7:09 am

I feel as though younger generations who haven't had to fight so hard for things like the ability to vote simply don't appreciate the beauty and privilege of doing so.

7:09 am

listening to a report on the news from Nashua, NH. Gentleman just said that he voted for the lesser of two evils. Pretty much sums it up.

7:09 am

(including mine)

7:10 am

I for one wont be staying up to watch the results!!

7:10 am

Agreed car.eeyore. There are just differing views on who is the lesser of two evils.

7:10 am

I think women in France didn't get the right to vote until the late 40's

7:10 am

must run deliver food to soup kitchen -- crossing fingers and toes for a good result today!!!

7:10 am

Deeha, I don't think we'll truly know for another week, possibly.

7:10 am

I have a feeling we won't know tonight who won

7:10 am

Look at what happened with the GW Bush/Gore election. That took forever to resolve.

7:11 am

Ok...sorry to stray from the topic...but I need stats for the i in the right column please?

7:11 am

What time do the polls close on the EZast coast?

7:11 am

I think 7.

7:11 am

7:00-8:00

In the UK, polls close at 10.00pm. Gives people far more time

7:12 am

I'll probably stay up all night

7:12 am

I voted a week ago.

7:12 am

Plus, Trump already said he may not accept the results, whatever that means. Probably means some sort of fight and drawn out hullaballoo if he isn't declared victor.

7:12 am

9 hours 47 minutes until the polls close

7:12 am

matty, we've had early voting for weeks.

7:12 am

See instant results here: http://www.politico.com/2016-election/\nresults/map/president

7:12 am

I think they close at 9 in NY

7:12 am

But pubs open in 3 hours and 15 minutes....

7:13 am

That's very sccary, redshoes

7:13 am

... but democracy isn't about having elections ... we should all have learned that when there was the "first" elections in Afghanistan and Iraq ... democracy is about the loosing side accepting the winners right to govern and the winning side not doing things to prevent the next election and the peoples' ability to choose the other side ...

only if we have elections we can trust

7:13 am

Not really any excuses to not find a time to vote. Plus, a lot of employers actually allow for voting time on-the-clock, as it were.

7:14 am

but look how Congress and the Senate hogtied Obama....

7:14 am

... but what kind of election can you trust? ... only one where you know there will be another in some period of time where you can vote the bums out

paper ballots, hand count, citizen oversight

7:15 am

I'm having a Wine, Cheese and Chocolate Pampered Chef party tomorrow night with "plenty of red and white spirits to soothe your blues."

7:17 am

If only I lived closer I'd be round!!

7:18 am

I think the US system, closely monitored by both parties, is fair.

7:18 am

... you can stuff a paper ballot box just as easily as an electronic one ... and you can debate whether a ballot marked with a check is acceptable when an "x" is specified ... and how much time do you want to spend counting 170,000,000 ballots located at polls spread over 6 or 8 million square miles? ...

7:18 am

... ah well ... if I had answers I wouldn't have exciting family dinners ... later days

7:18 am

I worry about people being intimidated into not voting

7:18 am

http://16sucks.com

7:19 am

Okay, I'd best get ready and head to work, myself. Have a wonderful day all!!

7:19 am

bye dose

2:15 pm

do you think more people are voting than usual?

based on my polling place (which is very small, like most) I would say no. but that's not a statistically signifcant sample

this is an ordinary workday, and i assume a lot of poeple will be voting between work (5pm) and closing of polls (8pm) and it's only about 3:30 now, or earlier for the rest of the country. Long way to go.

2:48 pm

6:10 pm

hi penq!

6:10 pm

hi...

6:11 pm

just trying to get nbs, nbt, and halfway here...

6:11 pm

i am down to 39...

6:12 pm

haha, 125 here

6:13 pm

well i was here this afternoon for a while...

6:13 pm

Ah, I was running around doing errands and whatnot

6:15 pm

then I have to go to an election watch party later - I am on the ballot so feel some obligation (running unopposed for county board so no suspense there)

6:16 pm

ah....cool....good luck!

6:16 pm

thanks :-) early voting in Illinois started at the end of September so I already had a number of people tell me they voted for me :-)

6:17 pm

yes, i voted with an absentee ballot....

6:18 pm

here we can vote in person, 7 days a week, starting Sept. 29 through Nov. 7 - only at a few places in each county, though

6:18 pm

here you can vote there or take it home and mail it in...

6:19 pm

Oh dammit, I thought UUSue was running for President and I missed out voting for her. : D

6:19 pm

Nice.

6:19 pm

Haha, I am not that much of a masochist.

6:19 pm

i wish...

6:20 pm

Yes, but you would be a far better first woman president than the one we are going to get.

6:21 pm

maybe. It's a pretty complicated job. I do appreciate the support, though :-)

6:22 pm

If Clinton wins, people are going to consider it a striking gain for feminism. I consider it a smack in the face to all the women who have worked so hard to make women an accepted influence in politics.

6:23 pm

Personally I would have preferred Warren.

6:25 pm

I'm still living in the past and complete denial. It's lovely here. Colin Powell was the first African American President and he's doing a bang up job. La la la.

6:25 pm

He would probably have been good.

6:27 pm

Well, I must say, I am quite in awe of people who can finish these grids on their own, without lists, hints, and Morewords (I say this because I just got the im words with the help of all of the above)

6:30 pm

I don't know how anyone finishes these grids without those things.

6:30 pm

Anyway, thanks to Lickety and Morewords, I now have nbs, nbt, and am more than half way. This is the point at which I declare victory and go do something else :-)

6:30 pm

See you all tomorrow!

6:32 pm

bye...

6:33 pm

My new deal is to find as many words as "I" can, according to the rules of the game. Ergo, I don't finish many grids.

6:34 pm

i often finish, but don't have to....

6:40 pm
