Yeah, I'm still here. . .
How long did it take you to get things worked out so you won't be in the poorhouse?
Hi Everyone
Over a year.
hi nan.
SSI is living hell. If his group home expense is more than the $733 max, and of course it is, they pay him less!!!!
Wow; that's pretty good though!
Finally this year a Medicaid supplement was added to meet the group home expense. By law, the state can supplement his SSI, but I can't!
His group home is > $1000/mo. In short, I was on the hook for 500-800 a month to fill in the gaps, buy his clothes, bus fare, allowance, etc. . .
(I'm trying to figure out if I want to tackle this grid over the next day. It's huge enough that I'm not sure I want to try it)
The thing is, as a young person, he will never get to live beyond subsistence, from check to check, or to save for anythign special, since benefits are gut if he has assets over a measly $1500. It's humiliating.
What state? MN has some pretty strict laws
Me, too. I'm aiming for nbt and out.
4Ss 3 Ts 3Is 2 Rs, that's almost half the grid just four different letters. That can be aggravating!
Ohio. They are strict, too. My son has schizophrenia.
In MN, We'd have to spend down to just $3000 in checking, savings, & any other accounts (IRA's, etc.)We can own the car(if it's paid for)& the house. Then everything else goes to the home care & his medical bills
And people think that "welfare" is a hand out. :-)
The rules are different since this is my child and not my spouse. His assets are limited, but mine are not, other than my situation being modest.
Hi all
I was in Germany two summers ago. It is a high tax, high wealth nation with a generous social safety net. We look insane from over there.
Hi Lizlin!
hi Liz
that is so unfair nef and melon
I can imagine. The USA is insane when it comes to long term care, etc.
It is, and I suspect it will get worse. Word is the House of Reps plans to repeal the ACA, but implement the repeal after 2018 midterm elections! Min"fool"ery of the worst sort.
I worry about burdening my kids. My dad, his mom, and all his siblings had Alzheimers. I'm hoping I take after my mom's family, who had their wits into their 90s.
hey, rur!
hi melon
ruru, people's perceptions and what really happens are totally different. And with the Republicans in charge, it's definitely not helping the poor or the chronically ill
Unfortunately, I'm about to hit the wall soon because I'm too tired to think and more.
nbt.....nothing over a 7
mo 8
Take care, Nef.It was good to catch up with you. I'd best do the same. I see the Julliard Quartet tomorrow nite!
Good Night; & Happy Babblining

good morning Sprite
and Hi there Rose
*hugs rose* Good evening my dear friend, how are you today?
hey ya flosey. here' some for you too. xoxoxoxoxox
hi flosey! *hugs* Good evening to you too. How was your day?
did something silly today.
ahhh so nice, thanks Rose and to you as well
facepalm silly or silly haha?
ah, and what was so silly?
i went with don to do the weeks shopping.
silly stupid
ugh... sweetie....
two supermarkets later and i was so sore. :-(
a little bit of overestimating your capabilities?
i really wanted to find out if i could do it. simple answer... NO.
oh my!! hubby and I often shop together - he tends to plow through as fast as possible
so I just make sure I have a list and don't leave before I have it all
ah, I see. Darling, it sucks to be in so much pain afterwards. But the only way to know where the limits are, is to overstep them. You did the experiment and now you know. It's ok, not silly, just painful
you can say that again...
*hugs rose and sends soothing vibes to all the sore parts* Don't berate yourself on top of the pain, ok? You did well. You have to know what you can and can't do, so soon after infusions. And now you know.
flosey, and how about your day?
twas a quiet one thanks Sprite - we had our first snowfall
quiet days can be so very pleasant. Is that late in the year for the first snowfall, flosey, or about normal?
I wasn't outside at all! but always enjoy seeing the first snow - we don't often have snow here so it's exciting for me
we had long Winters in Ontario
not much snow on the coast but we had lots of snow back in Kimberley BC, ski country
I love the first snow. So very pretty, both when it falls and when everything is covered. But as soon as people start driving through it and salting everything... or when the resulting slush freezes over again... the fun is more or less over.
No snow here! - Hi guys!
it is quite rare here, so always exciting
hi Sandyloo
sandy! omg that has been ages! How are you? And your sister?
is there ever snow anywhere in Australia?
phantom: qu4mire(s)
oh yeah flosey. the top of our alps can be 10feet deep with the stuff. great for skiing
I haven't been able to get on the internet with much success but we have now got a satelite dish on the roof
oh that is wonderful, sandy
glad you're able to be back sandy
Flosey there are snow fields here where people go skiing but they are in the east - No snow here in the West
Yes Sprite it is very good
wow rose, that sounds good. Nice if snow stays where it belongs, lol... on mountain tops.
I am glad too but it is a terrible waste of time - It's a trap! However it is quite relaxing
ah, here most everyone has at least an occasional snowfall, rare on the coast but lots of skiing in parts of bc
internet is a time sink for sure. But a nice one.
I am sorry you are not feeling too good rose and I hope the rest of you are feeling chipper!
sandy, it was self-inflicted. tomorrow i'll be good as gold.
all well here, thanks sandy
*gives rose an extra hug*
That's good rose.
Have you finished yet Sprite (I expect so)
make sure you sleep well though, tonight, sweetie. If it takes an endone to ensure that, take it... don't punish yourself by saying it was self-inflicted and all that nonsense.
lol sandy, not by a long shot
good advice, thanx sprite
:) luvsya
a few more minutes before I have to leave for intervision group from the volunteer job.
okay honey. just yell as you leave.
yell! :D
xoxox m y dear. luvsya back!!
*hugs to you all* Rose, sleep well and painless, and have a great day tomorrow. Flosey, sleep well too and enjoy the snow. And sandy, great to have seen you again. Hope you will have a lovely day.
thanks Sprite and you have a great day
bye sprite

It's really hot this evening - humid too. Not very pleasant.
I had my 3-month scan yesterday and everything is stable!
Good to hear, Ruby!
That's really good news, Ruby :)
... a centimeter or two of snow in Southern Ontario overnight Sunday but it was effectively gone by dinnertime Monday
No the humidity is a nasty one , liz :-(

Glad it did not settle for you, Doseffing..but I think it is only a matter of time.
I'll share with you too Dos.
So I'll be around for a while but as the oncologist said, "Watch out for buses!"

You are taking your time, Liz...still waiting....?
We might get more snow tonight :)
When we first arrived here, 18 yrs ago, there was much more snow.
Looks like, Sukee is looking forward to the snow.
God no :)
Last winter, there wasn't even a hard frost
With my mobility problems it just adds to them
No, the heat's not leaving, Zooz - sorry!
We have had a couple of days with hard frost here so far, Ruby. i am hoping that will be all.
I just don't go outside much

the ci 7 is part of the word for the anti mosquito candles. those candles end in ella. this is the first part of the word for those candles. they smell bad and chase away bugs.
ty broll
thanks broil
yw
isnt that a ci 7/32?
mlfan, did you get the ci word? if you dont want bugs you light this candle and the smell chases away the bugs. the first part of this candle stuff is the ci 7
the ci 6 is singular, the 7 plural.
mkg I know what that word is, but am trying to get the rest of it
I already have the ci 7/32
is there a ci 7/36 and is it similar to the ci 7/32?

Hi HGK

Hi aeb
hi all!
It's the best red maple leaf I've ever found! tx
helen really?
Yeah- that twist, as if it's blowing - neat.
that's very true helen its a perfect capture of a moving leaf
Hi Scrabs
afternoon, all!
Hi bichon and Eva! Eva, you had your baby! What is his name?
why doesn't enable accept seagrass??
hello again eva
hello Dr Scrabs!
It doesn't accept seahorse, either!
lil man will be 11 weeks tomorrow! his name is Kieran Leto
makes no sense does it helen?
When was he born?
It sure makes me wonder how it put its list together!
helen do you have the se 7?
9/21, 4:23am!
helen we always wonder that don't we lol
Not yet - I'll have ago.
eva 4:23 am! OMG
Wonderful! I have been a bit busy as foster mom, so have not been here much since July 6.
tell me about it, MLF -- water broke at 3:15am on 9/20 + we finally went in to get him the next morning. :)
wow long labor!
ty helen
How bad was labor, Eva?
just found the budweiser horses -- maybe if I was a beer drinker I'd have found them sooner!
Clydesdales are in the grid?
i gave it the good ol college try to have him vaginally, be his noggin was just too big. he barely descended at all. so we finally opted for the c-section we figured id have anyway...
scrab I don't see it lol
oh - lol - I guess not -- thought they were mo 6's
scrabs -- it was...not pleasant. :)
Go back to your word that Enable doesn' include, and substitute a belt for the first four letters of the plant!
not into horses either, obviously
eva and after tha many hours no choice but to have c section geez poor you and him
Poor Eva.
alls well that ends well. :)
Yes, at least there is an alternative way to get the baby out.
helen it should end in gr 5/14 exactly?
250 to go and I am done here at the Indian Reservation. Now I shall get some inexpensive gas and go do some shopping. The boys will be with their mother til 7pm so I have some free time for myself this afternoon.
all in all, it wasnt so horrible...but then in the month after, i went back to the ER twice with kidney stones! yay!
my daughter had kidney stone during her pregnancy. They put a stent in
Oh, no! Poor Eva!
yet, without the plural, of course!
Bye, kids. Enjoy the day.
yes - not yet - better take a break
still don't know it
given the choices, i think id take labor over stones...
given the choices, i think id take labor over stones... at least with labor, the pain ebbs + flows.
on 6 please?
Eva what is the story behind the name? It's very unique.
on + the first 4 of a word that ends in "culture" and means farming
as for Leto...well, Nugget still didnt have a middle name when i was getting ready to turn in the paperwork + leave the hospital, so i said "we have to agree on something or he gets no middle name!" hubby made a list of names he liked, most of which i hated. "Leto" is a character in Dune (by frank herbert), which my husband loves. while i have no interest in Dune, i thought it was a pretty cool, unique name, so i agreed to it.
weird. my whole explanation for Kieran disappeared!
basically, hubby wanted something japanese, like a name from anime cartoons he watches. i hated all of them, so he jokingly threw out "kirin, like the beer" and i said if he let me spell it, he had a deal! (i knew it was a real, lovely, celtic name)
ty molly
so very close to one of my favorite video games from high school: asteroids
I'm glad you stood your ground about the anime names. I love Celtic names.
100 to go
Popping in for a minute or 2 before we go out; just read what you posted about your son's name, EvaN. I had an uncle named Kieran; He was really a neat guy! :-D (& yes, we're pretty much Irish)
i think we came to a nice compromise. :)
(we were the minority in my home town, 1 Irish family in a town of Germans & French Canadians.)
So, your baby's name is Dune Kieran? Very different & usual.
(that was Unusual)
Kieran Leto
?Leto? (I missed that part of the chat I guess. So is Leto an anime name?
Leto is from Dune
I'm glad it's not Dune Leto. That sounds too much like something from Star Wars.
My grandson is Ronald Paul (guess what his parents' political stance was). There aren't many Ronalds around here; but there are at least 4 Colins & Caylibs & Carters, etc. around here now.
First time I met my uncle, I was confused about his name; I thought he said Karen; then he spelled it: Ki- Er-An. (I was 8 when I first met him, after my mom's funeral).
AND; I haVE TO GO!
my MIL is Karen - people asked if we named hm after her!
lol - I had a neighbour once whos sons' names were Kevin Barry, Peter Crowley and Patrick Pierce - now there is a reflection of political affiliation
last or 6 please?
time to get off my butt and get some groceries in -- back later to finish
Oh drat, poor Wee Evan is probably going to go through life with people thinking his name is Karen.
i have or6, heart, lungs and others. and sex with a lot of people.
80 to go
me too!
wow, you've really been working, moo!!
had a good run going, slow now :)

anybody see the news about some swiss boy who'd been so helicopter parented that he couldn't function in a school because he could not do a thing for himself at age 7, court ordered him to be taken from his parents and put somewhere to learn things. i thought europeans were more sensible than that.
Nope did not see that. Sad state of affairs. poor child.
cu 7 pls?
ci7/36 plz
CU + vowel + most of what you cut with a lawnmower.
Ci 7/36 has a robot ending.
Europeans can be just as "un-sensible" as any other people.
I do not see it as areas I see it as humans.
Although the way some people act they do not even deserve to be called human.
I agree Zoom. How much common sense you have has little to do with where you live. More to do with how you are raised.
se 7 pls?
SE 7/36 word meaning surrounded by the ocean.
Oh, and here I thought it was spandex for the ocean : P
LOL

TY IVESY!!!!!!! GOT IT. yeah!
yw lol
so what is the clue drugs? ugh. ty.
Good grief. Two centimetres of snow grinds this country to a halt. Two feet of snow would render us catatonic. I sure don't envy you folks. Oh and Hi, Lynn, Nan, ivesy, Dose, Judi and assorted watchers/lurkers :-)
... A-rod ... a baseball player who used steroids
hi Soodle
hi soodle
we don't even bother shovelling 2 cm, soodle
hi soodle.. schools will close, library will close..(yea.we get paid anyway) will be a driving ban, but worse of all tim hortons will close.. nooooooo
but then we all have all weather or snow tires
tim hortons?
... old story of a driver from here who got to the interstate in Texas only to discover that the state police had closed it because of impending snow .... he begged that he had to get on ... so they looked at his license plates ... saw he was from Ontario Canada ... and said okay you know who to drive in snow and let him go
better make a donut run now, ivesy :D
famous coffee shop lynx. great coffee lol
... tim's never closes ... that's sacreligous ... the country would explode
i know.. get a couple spare cups of coffee.. but alas, am not able to eat more donuts. my a 1 c was horrible.. sigh
don't like their tea or coffee, but timbits are another story
... a step up from Dunkin' Donut but not up to Starbucks
ah, the chains don't do so well here. We do have many many coffee places here - it's a bit of a thing
i dont think they would close, but there will be driving ban... does going there rate an emergency.
starbucks has great coffee. rather expensive
... I'm not sure if Canadian's know how to make coffee at home any more
not doing so well with the st's -- still missing the 8/45, 8/50 and the last 6
Understandable with 2 foot of snow, Ivesy. But even the lightest sprinkling here means everybody downs tools & goes home. And, Lynn ... We have Tim Hortons here. It's good, but I am a Bewleys Coffee fan. Personal taste!
st7.36 & 8.50 and old fashioned term for what movie 'types' used to aim for
living in western ny. this is normal in the winter. unfortunately.. they will ban driving until snowplows get through.. i am lucky, i can walk to work
have those ty lynxx -- it's the ones after that that I'm missing
perhaps the ones that end in frozen stuff
st 8/45 the 8 that comes after fame and before the flower
then the last st 6 and the last st 8
found the 6
I'll but out as I haven't listed as yet - sorry
no - appreciate your trying to help
st 8/50 is the last 8 and comes after latin layers
keep looking for striated
... st 6/21 ... not moving or stationary
st8/45 ... make the end look like frozen waters
dos it comes after begins?
I had a meeting in the city today & fondly imagined that I could do all or most of my Christmas shopping on my way home. Think again Soodle!! To buy stuff for my impoverished student 21 yr old daughter - a doddle. But the 26 yr old son & 24 yr old daughter???? Both have well paid jobs, so, if they want something, they buy it. Scratching my head here....
... that's right ... there's an st4/4 ... a type of number like ERA or RBIs
st8.45 st & vwl & ***** says 'put your hands on your head"
yay lynxxx - tyvm
listing now - hah!
... if you ever come up with something Soodle let me know ... one kid makes almost double what I make ... the other more than triple
did you know that word? -- if so I'm impressed!
I just got a nice cable knit pullover for mine
nope - when I list I also invariably do Morewords
poor everyone I gift to now - kitted, sewn or baked - thats it basically. I get pleasure out of making them anyway and hopefully they will be useful/delicious
knitted that is
the last st8.50 ends in the ***** that laid the golden egg less an O
never did learn how to knit, but did sew a lab coat for our 4yrold granddaughter to go with a veterinary care play set I got for her
ty lynxxx
Good afternoon again. My kids are pretty happy with gift certificates AND some baked goodies that their Dad makes (*I* am not a baker!)
Thats wonderful Lyn. Those are gifts to treasure. Sadly, my talents do not lie in creativity... :-(. Dose, I am clutching at the straws of personalised golfballs right now. Like you, I crave inspiration.
taking a break to mix up some cookies -- back later
Hi (((Nef)))
bye Nan
... yeah ... they no longer pay any attention to anything I get them so the stocking just gets gift cards from clothing stores, a mess of candy, and a toothbrush
love the toothbrush!
Hi Soodle. Did your kids love some special food or baked goods you made them when they were small? I remember once that when I was asked what I wanted for Christmas; I asked my aunt to make me some Olive Ann cookies. (I loved them as a kid; esp. with a nice glass of milk)
You can't go wrong with a toothbrush! Nef- my kids are weird!! When they were small, they dreaded Sunday Dinners as much as they dreaded the dentist. Son of Soodle was very creative in hiding mashed potato under broccoli! In recent years, whenever they come home - a Sunday dinner is top of their wish/demand list. Weird kids!!
We gave our kids some electric toothbrushes a couple of years ago; I'll bet they'd appreciate a gift of new heads for them! (I like that idea too)
I've been noodling round the internet & found stuff like personalised bathrobes, golf markers, calendars etc. Between that tat & some gift cards, I reckon I should be ok!
Hello all. What is an Olive Ann cookie?
Kids sorted.... Now to find gifts for octogenarian parents... Jeez!
Or is that your aunt's name?
Fleece lined slippers with hard soles!! I wear mine outside even :-)
a gift card for a High Tea - with you of course!
Good idea M9. Even better idea, Lynn!(I benefit!!). Lol
that robot end is used quite a bit
m9, it's a refrigerator cookie that's pressed into a small bread pan, then after refrigerating It's cut into thin (1/4") slices & baked.
So, it doesn't go into the oven at all, Nef?
Why is it called an Olive Ann?
Oh! I "gave" my daughter a gift of a painting class (with myself) for her birthday! She liked that a lot!
Today is my younger girl's 21st
what a lovely gift Nef
As in you both went to a painting class together? Or you gave her lessons?
It's baked after you cut it into slices, Soodle. And I don't know why it's called an Olive Ann cookie; it's a recipe of my Grandmothers' (I've never made it -remember, I'm not a baker!). Maybe she knew someone with that name?
Must have. 'Cause it sure doesn't come up on Google LOL
Thats lovely Nef. And a very happy birthday to the minor M9! 21 is a wonderful age (as, indeed is 56!).
m9, we both went to a class together. She wants to do it again soon (so it might be a Christmas gift this year)
I'm going to attempt a rolled cake today... wish me luck! I have to wait until my older daughter is done in the kitchen though.. she's baking 4 cakes for her husband's holiday white elephant exchange.
Ah.. but now that she's 21..she's not a minor any more! :-D
m9, I'll dig through the family recipes & post it in my profile later tonight. DH says we have to go to Costgo but needed a nap first; I'll post it probably after 9 PM or so. Okay?
Going to an art class together sounds like such fun!
Oh..thanks!
My girl and I went to a paint night together. That was fun
Name that Proper Noun. Tenor player with Monk
It was fun! We had lots of fun; teased eachotherand ate supper afterwards together (in a way; it was a blessing because DH was in the hospital at the time & I need the break from being there at his side all the time.
Hmm.. I don't see Charlie or Rouse..
One more.....
Herbie.. Fields...
<---Philistine. Knows no tenor players.
We have several of those wine & art paint night places around here; but we actually went to an art class instead. It was just3 of us in class for the instructor, so lots of personal attention.
G--- G----
Coltrane..
Sounds like the perfect antidote to your worries at the time Nef.
Give up?
I surrender....
Almost Gordan.. I give up
Gigi Grice
Gryce ?
Oh........ sorry........
No wait.. BIRTH NAME: George General Grice Jr. According to wiki!
It's all good :-D
godthaabs questions are a LOT harder than Hurshy's!
And I know nothing about jazz.. I just like to look things up.
Bless Wiki!! Ladies & gents, it's been a pleasure spending time in your company. Another busy day awaits tomorrow, so I will adjourn for the night. Adios all X
sweet dreams Soodle
Good Night, Soodle!
And I just learned something new while figuring out how I'm going to make this cake!
Two things actually.
what did you learn, m9?
Ok.. three: 1. Recipes for using a box cake mix for a jelly roll use SIX eggs. 2. You can make stabilized whipped cream by adding a little sour cream (I wanted a sour cream filling anyway..but cool!) and 3. A thing called GOOP pan release as a substitute for the spray that has flour added. It's just equal parts flour, oil and shortening, you can keep it in your fridge too.
I don't like sprays :-)
Hmm... what should I make for dinner?
I don't like sprays either; but you can buy a bottle that you pump up and then spray oils with works well & no extra chemicals.
Bye all
Yeah.. I have that..but I think flour would clog it.
hi again - first batch in the oven
This GOOP stuff you can brush on.
Whatchya makin'?
2nd batch in - smelling good around here --- ginger cookies with dark chocolate centres
*!*~*!*
can clue until the buzzer goes
Hi all.
hi jelle
*jellen
Hagd everyone -- will leave some cookies in the pb
I'm sad. I talked to the PC repair guy and he said my PC isn't worth saving...
Bye, nan
they always say that
computers are considered old so fast now that if it's out of warranty then it's probably "not worth saving"
True
well, this is a hard grid
i haven't found any 8's, much less the 10
me neither
maybe some with -ist endings?
aHA i found one - fame = st7, then plural
ooh another st7/8 combo is a flower with quite small blooms
i know them in purple, not sure if they also come in other colors
mo7/8 combo - hole that you cut in a joint to receive like a peg-type piece from the other piece that is forming the joint
nan those cookies sound really good
back to find my last 122 words
hi all
Good evening
car, one of my neighbors has a blow up eeyore on their lawn along with other christmas. I think of you everytime I see it :)
other christmas things
Fun! But I don't think I would go THAT far...
several of my neighbor have blow up things, including a purple hippo. I do not like them. But I do enjoy looking at the lights.
agreed
help with the cu 8/60 would be greatly appreciated!
what you do to your lawn
se7 pls
Sing with me now...."Christmas in Hollis!"
don't know the words, car
Its the tune Run DMC did on the very first "A Very Special Christmas" album
st8 pls
Hi all
Hi :)
hi liz.
I don't listen to much christmas music
I have st 8 x3 - which do you need
the 2nd one pls
st + vowel + man's name
thanks periwinkle! Sorry I haven't been able to help you...just getting started
yw
OK...off to work I go. HAGD/E everyone
You too, car
not seeing it liz
Remember the kid's rhyme - about the simple guy who met a pieman? That's the male name.
I remember, ty liz. new word for me
yw
Me too - I also got it from a clue earlier.
Quite a few unusual words in this grid.
there is a 4th st8 too
which was also a new word for me
I'm missing one then.
do you me to try and clue it?
Could you clue it pls?
first 3 letters of the word above it and then word for mate of a gander minus a vowel
:)
Thanks - as you said, a new word for me too.
yw
25 to go.
45 left here
I've found this a difficult grid.
me too, I liked yesterday
yesterdays better
Me too
on 6 pls?
on + what the A stands for in USDA
good clue harry, I had no idea how to clue it
still 149 to go here.
Thanks - once I'd googled USDA :)
go Harry!
sorry liz - we need to stop assuming everybody in the world is american :)
Not a problem - sometimes I know and at others, I use google.
ga6 or ga7 pls
ga + consonant + robot ending. Another new word for me.
ty liz - I had NO ga words :)
ty and for me too
short break, bbs
The other ga word is ga 4 - babblet.
Enjoy :)
yah - got that :)
No other ga words
140. bbl perhaps.
Have a good evening
i am troubled by that clue for a fourth st8 - first THREE plus gander's mate (5) minus a vowel (4) = 3 + 4 = 7
should be first FOUR?
I added a vowel after the first 3 - didn't make sense otherwise.
yeah, i just was trying to puzzle it out without the list, so didn't know what was above it
Or as you said, first 4
does anyone have the 10?
Want a clue?
Or stats?
depends how weird it is. if it's pretty normal a half-clue like "it's a compound" or something would probably be enough :)
i mean, stats of course also
ar 10/70 - builds from the word before. ar 6, 8, 10, 7
thank you!!!
Phew! 8's finally complete :)
yw
i really just want one more s from the second row, then i will be happy, at least for now
10/13 is so much nicer than 9/13
I agree - so many s's though. I'm not sure which come from which!
well a lot of the 2nd row are plurals of things where the singular comes from the 1st row
some just go straight down tho
Have you got sa 8/45 - my last 8?
looks like not
i keep wanting like, sardonic and other -ic things that aren't there
Add person who does to the word before - sa 5/12
sa 5/12 - which ends in what you use to go fishing.
aahhh thanks did not have that 5 either!
so that brings me up to 12/13 for that S!
yw
4 to go - all t's, though can't imagine why seagrass isn't accepted.
Fireworks - last word tr 6/24 and pl.
BBL - enjoy your evening
go
help with last ST 8/50 pls
nm
the se7 plz
hello....
The se7 was clued earlier as Spanx for the ocean
Hello penq
Clue for the first ci7 please
sorry, don't have it yet...
the ci7 ends with the robot ending
hmmm....
penq, there are a few consonants before the ending.
ty...i will try again...
got it...ty....
i am not enjoying the last of this grid...
I am still finding runs of words that I should have gotten before. But with 68 to go, I am hardly near the last of it.
well i have 80 left....it's a large grid!
i don't think i will finish this one...
I just have hit the or's. Ruru must have had fun with these.
hah...
yes.. it was just about naked ambition to finish this grid
*he just appears out of nowhere*....
All you have to do is have a risque thought and it brings him out of his lair.
hah...
ah.. i'm always poking around
Mostly I'm just bumbling around.
I just found a cu that I just don't believe is a word
i gave up on the cu words...
you will not believe it when you find it
should be IF and not WHEN... ;o)
Well there is the cu5/6 combo that ruru would be poking around. And there is the cu7 that describes your lawn after you have mowed it.
oh....ty....figured that was two words...
didn't take seagr***.....
ha..i missed the best or word
The first cu7 is the one that is hard.
I think I hate this grid
don't have that one...
cu + a phonetic spelling of what a gramatically challenged person might say that they would be a jerk.
i do, too.....enjoyed the first couple of hundred words....
hmmm...not sure i understand that clue...
it's ... um.... grammatically challenged... ;o)
cu + vowel + consonant + butt
it's cu 7, right?
Yes it is, penq
It is a kind of armor
oh...i see it now...ty...
Sometimes you can only understand my clues if you know the word.
my brain is a little fried...
<---down to s's only (smug look)
Do you have the first st8, ruru?
nope.. working on the si's
i do....
Could give me a clue, please.
it's a plural....of a word we don't normally make into a plural....
st8/50 word is plural of the st 7/36 (referring to celebrity)
Sorry, I have that one. Itis the second st8 I am missing.
weird word....st + vowel + man's name...
i have never seen some of these words...
I can't find the first st 8/45
It is what the contestants on American Idol dream of.
I cannot figure out the man's name.
that's the 8/50.. I need the one after that
ru...it's a plural.....state of being a celeb...
That is the one that has stumped me. The only man's name I have found so far is Igor and I can't make that work with the clue.
think st. peter....
or maybe that's not right....lol....
gerald mcraney played a brother on a pi show years ago.....
or the game ***** Says....do this...do that...
This might be helpful - the st8/45 definition: (in ancient Greek drama) a choral ode, especially in tragedy, divided into strophe and antistrophe: usually alternating with the epeisodion and, in the final ode, preceding the exodos.
ty. I was not looking at that s on the left.
Or not. I'm leaning towards 'not'.
Why didn't you say so earlier, JBs. That would have certainly given it to me.
Or not.
TY, pen, it was the American Idol reference that gave me the word.
anyone have the last st8/50?
LOL, wht, right?!
s's done. How can I still have 18 t's.
Starts like the st5 before it and ends like the gander's mate mising a vowel.
i still have 35 left...
thank you wht
done finally.
what a grid
Hi folks
wtg ruru
hiya ori
congrats, ru.....
hi ori....
I have a job interview tomorrow. Wish me luck!
good luck!
congrats ru!
hope you get it origami
Good luck origami. May your inteview be easier than this grid.
Fireworks finally.
Thanks friends. It would be a good move financially for me to retire from where I am and take this job.
The final ts's were a tstruggle.
congrats...
Oh, no, just starting and there are ts's :D
Does anyone need clues before I go?
too many to ask for...ty....
TY for your clues already, wht, I'm getting there!
** finito ** last word AD 6/24
Congrats teach
WTG teach
Good night all. And happy babbling.
Funny, my last word was st5/10. I ended with the beginning! And I wish you all good night, thanks for the clues and chat. I hope everyone finishes
congrats JBs
what's the new job ori?
Hi again. I wasn't going to do this today because I didn't think I had the time (which - I didn't)but got sucked into it in spite of myself. I have 210 left; I know I won't finish again tonight!
can someone clue st 7/28 please?
The new job is the budget and personnel manager for the dean's office of arts & letters at sac state.
I don't have it pen, but I'll help you look
ty....
plural of last st6,18
duh....ty....it was my last word...i am done...
oh.. nice ori
that sounds like a nice change of pace
YAY, pen!!! WTG!!! And also everyone else who have finished this grid!!
It is pretty much what I do now. But at a higher level, with lower pay :-)
can you take your pension and have this job too?
ty, nef....
if so, will you adopt me ? :D
Yes I can ru. That plays into the plan. The salary I would earn would be gravy so I could pay off my car and save some bucks.
good for you.. this would be a smart move then
Of course, ru. Consider yourself my adopted son.
hA!
Except I'm older than you :D
i am heading out...goodnight all....
Adopted older brother? :-)
Night pen
that works
night penqqqqqq
Good evening to all babblers! How is everyone doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
hi minver
Hi Min
Hi min
I may not make the flip.. had to get up really early today
Busy day today; or just couldn't sleep?
I DEFINITELY won't make the flip. Have to get up too early tomorrow morning. What time is really early 4 U rururocks?
i got up at 5:30
I never make the flip. 5:30 a.m. rising time doesn't allow late nights
that's normally my best sleeping time
5:30 am every day would kill me
It's rough. I could change it to 6:30, but I need a bit of quasi-awake time in the morning to actually wake up.
ugh
i normally get up at 7:30 that 4:30-7:00 zone is my best sleep
If I get the new job, I am 10 minutes away. A big difference.
my commute is ten feet :D
Grrrrr ... maybe I can be your adopted sister :D
I drive to work practically half asleep (1+ hours commute).
oh wow minver.. that's awful
Oh, Min! That isn't safe!
I can't imagine living that far from work!
I can relate Min. I live 19 miles door to door, but it usually takes me 45 minutes in the morn and 60 after work. Yuck.
And on Fridays it takes me 1.5 hrs home if I leave at 5.
oh.. i bet on fridays
i hate the sacramento freeways on Fridays.. it's horrible
I usually just take at 4. Then it only takes 45 min or so.
*leave at 4* rather
It does not help that I stay up babbling at this time of nite.
(Believe me; after nearly 41 years of working evenings & nights; I don't know how I got home sometimes after a busy shift. I've had to pull into a park justness than 2 blocks from home for a short nap because I really couldn't go even 1/2 block more.
we're better than a commute minver :D
Oh, Nef. That sounds awful.
That's for sure rururocks!
It was, ore. What's worse, is that I often got in my car & fell asleep in the parking lot without even starting my car sometimes.
Ori. Sorry
Whenever I stay up late I kick myself the next day. Unless it's a Friday or Saturday. Then I pat myself on the back for staying up until 11. I can't wait for retirement when I can stay up as late as I want.
I have pulled over to take a cat nap on my way home from work before also Nef. I usually do it on Thursday or Friday when my lack of shortage has finally caught up to me.
Oh, Nef. I have never fallen asleep in the parking lot.
Want a good laugh at me? I once got in my car & fell asleep & when I woke up I couldn't figure out what was wrong -- I thought stole my steering wheel! (I'd opened the back door of my car & didn't realize it when I got in.) :-/
I have done stuff in a parking lot but never slept there :D
I meant shortage of sleep has caught up with me.Guess I'm getting a little sleepy now since I can't even type anymore
Although, when I have to go to the Bay Area where I manage a warehouse and where the headquarters of UC are, I dread driving home even when I am rested. I have almost fallen asleep a couple of times. Driving in the SF bay area is no picnic
i drive the bay area freeways every day basically
I have driven in the SF bay area once; way back in 1980. It was crazy back then & I can imagine it's much worse now
it's horrible now
if I leave SF after 3:30.. my 1 hour commute changes to a 3-4 hour commute
YUK!!!
I wouldn't like to drive there at all if it's that bad.
the peninsula below sf is even worse
So I guess I should not complain about the commute I have
without traffic palo alto to where i live is 2 hours.. the other day i did a staff training and got out at 3 and i didn't get home until 8
what i don't understand is, with all the land there is, how has california not built more major roads between major cities?
ori knows what i'm talking about..it's almost as bad as LA
Bay area traffic is wretched. People I know who live in the LA area, where traffic is epic of course, say the bay area is almost as bad
LA is the worst absolutely
Apparently I do ru, as we posted the same thing.
That totally sucks ruru! Makes you think U should get paid for that time since you wouldn't have been driving all that time if you had not done that staff training for your job.
no funding hursh.. and also a lot of environmentalists stop freeways
Gotta head out and do some laundry and meet my bedtime. See ya'll.
Well maybe President-elect will build more freeways since he is certainly NOT an evironmentalist rururocks.
to be honest.. we don't need more freeways out here.. we just need less people
Or better transit?
we have ok transit.. but it has a lot of delays and breakdowns so people prefer to drive themselves
Rururocks,Trump could help there too if he deports all the undocumented immigrants he says he is going to deport.
that's kind of likely to happen i think minver.. it's going to have a huge impact on California
Min, by looking at who he is choosing for his cabinet members & how he's acting about his companies, etc; do you really think he will helpUS?
unlikely.. i think the 1% are back to having a field day with the economy
same here, ru. :-(
Actually Nef, I was being sarcastic. Don't think he will help anyone except the rich, charter schools, & private schools.
my tax bracket may drop some.. and the burden is squarely going to drop on the poor and the middle class
I'm even wondering if he will even help that many, Min. (I felt you were being sarcastic with the first post; but not too certain on your second post about him)
(I think the only people he will help are himself & his close family & friends.
i have to do dinner dishes.. really nice seeing everyone and having a pleasant discussion for once
Bye rururocks!Enjoy the rest of your evening. See ya soon!
Have fun doing dishes, ru. Take care & sleep well tonight
Still here, Min? How's life treating you lately?
Life is busy Nef.I am In the process of getting estimates on painting & redoing my floors to get the house ready to put on market. My house needs a ginormous amount of work!
Oh, I feel for you! I just had our floors redone this past summer; and besides having to move all the furniture out of the rooms; I decided to paint the rooms before we did the floors.
(that was back in July; & I still don't have all of the furniture back in place! I just got tired of doing everything).
Darn. Tardis isn't a word either!
We also have a lot of other work to do on the house.Wish I could sell it as is. Not going to make any $$$ on it anyway
really? that's too bad. We aren't going to sell our house for a couple of years yet (IF DH would stay healthy, we'll stay here longer; if his health keeps failing; we'll move sooner)
Hello again.
And we're close to paying off our mortgage too; so that helps
Hi m9; I didn't forget; I just need to find my recipe.
No worries! I just ate cake! :-)
The very first word in this grid is a last word. That amuses me.
Hello m9f9l! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log.
Your are so right m9f9l! I never saw it that way. It's ironic.
That is funny, m9. I hadn't noticed that either
Oh! The word 'ironic' made me think of something funny!
It doesn't start with ironic though...it's starts literally: http://tinyurl.com/zgqzm8r
It is soooooooo way past my bedtime! Goodnight babblers!
g'night!
Niters, Min!!
cu 8 ? please
m9; I'm still looking for the recipe for those cookies, & I've gone through my recipe box, & am working through the 3 ring binder that we have of family recipes. So far no luck; but (if nothing else) I can call my sister tomorrow & ask her for it. I was sure I had the recipe card that my grandma wrote, but Not sure where it is now.
nm found it tx
How did your cake turn out?
oh no. I hope you find it, that sounds like a treasure.
super yummy :-)
I don't know how people get them to roll super circular though.. Mine was kind of oval.
Probably the cake was too thick or the filling.
*stealth hugs and choclits*
[hello all: not playing, just checking to see who's here]
Sorry I missed your request for help, ursh. I have been trying to find a cookie recipe for m9 that I said I'd post in my profile tonight.
Hi stid. How are you feeling today?
Hi stid!
I am okay -- tired, but determined to make it to winter vacation. Hope you-all are well?
That can't be that long, right?
So far, December is much better than the past 2 months.
is your hip better?
Would you consider Brownies to be cookies or desserts?
desserts
though they are sometimes included in cookie books.. a bar cookie?
Well, I've found a bunch of cooky recipes in the HUGE dessert section of my18" long recipe box. So I'm hoping that that is where I will find the Olive Ann cooky recipe
Sorry all-- watching the tube with the "boys" tonight. My hip is awful this month, the allergies are barely (and not always controlled), and the exhaustion is not yet diagnosed... LOL on the positive side, I am tougher and meaner than the ailments, the students I get to work with are A-MAZing, and I have wonderful, supportive colleagues who daily restore my faith in humanity.
Sweet! (literally :-) )
That is a Looooooong recipe box, nef -- you must have some great ones!
anyway, have a long day ahead tomorrow (concert in the evening) and must to sleep. ((hugs)) be well, drive safely in the snow/ice/-and if lucky, sunshine; have a great rest of your week. *poof*
I'm sorry your health is suffering; and I'm glad you are so happy about your kids! :-)
Yeah! I don't even usually use recipes, let alone have a collection. That's so neat!@
Desserts and cookies and such is when I use recipes.
I have recipes from DH's grandmother & his aunts; & also from my side of our family. But some of these aren't signed by who the writer was & I think I should write who wrote these because my kids won't ever remember that
That is a GREAT idea!
Mark your photos too!
My family hasn't been much of one for passing things down :-(
I have to rely on other people's heirlooms! :-)
And it's really finny to see recipes for thing such s Peanut butter cookies. I have 1 (from hubby's aunt) with just 3 ingredients & another one (from my sister) with 9 ingredients & another one from an aunt of mine with 12 ingredients!
Ah.. peanut butter cookies are one of my fave, but they give me heartburn now. I like the kind of chewy ones, but most recipes are kind of dry.
These are some of the only things we have; no inheritances, or heirlooms, just memories & fading hand-written recipes
85 words. Don't think I'll make it in 5 minutes
You might like DH's aunts' recipe then: 1Cup peanut butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg. Mix together, spoon onto a cookie sheet & bake at 350 (f) for 8 - 10 minutes. (makes 2 dozen cookies)
I've heard of that one, but haven't tried it. I'll give it a go
They are soft (unless you burn them)
