I try not to spread myself too thinly

talking about buttering up... which side do you hit the carpet on...

1:40 am

I don't know that saying

1:41 am

bad grid. cant get these words. any clues fo r the 7s?

1:41 am

the chance of the dropped toast hitting the carpet butter-side down is proportional to the cost of the carpet.

1:42 am

Oh

1:42 am

That would be crumby

1:46 am

i am walking like i haven't for the last 4 years. also back on the stationary bike.no pain at all..

1:46 am

Oh great. I am glad to hear that GR

1:47 am

europe is looking better and better.

1:47 am

That would be great for you

1:48 am

my lower back pain has been present for over 30 years. and no fusion needed., it also makes my north american/canadian trip look good too.

1:49 am

I'm going to Canada again in July

1:49 am

suffice to say, my admiration for my pain doc has grown.

1:50 am

No one needs to suffer in pain. I get it

1:50 am

two more years dear friend... i hope to visit you and see your wonderful country.

1:50 am

That is great they are finally helping you

1:51 am

i now have to build up my tolerance of activity.

1:52 am

Yes. Just don't overdo it and keep building strength

1:53 am

i was so afraid of a spinal fusion. these injections have helped me.. with no drastic intrusion into my spine.

1:54 am

They are developing new technologies to avoid spinal fusion and often it doesn't help anyway

1:54 am

ruru, there is something about intrusion into the spinal canal. i really did not want to end up paralysed.

1:55 am

ruru... there are now injections, where the docs use cement to fuse the bones together.

1:55 am

Rose, that is such fantastic news!! I'm so happy for you!

1:55 am

That is what i read about

1:56 am

kam... {{hugs}} and abundant kisses.,

1:56 am

I'm still refusing surgery I was told I would be paralyzed without...25 years, and my chiro is my best pain reliever, along with the prescribed stuff, that is..

1:57 am

everywhere i go, people tell me it is wonderful to see how i am able to walk and move.

1:57 am

So great! Now you have to keep exercising to get those muscles back in shape...and keep them in shape.

1:58 am

what i have had is a chemical denervation.

1:58 am

kam, back on the stationary bike. and in a few days, i am going to factor in walking too.

1:58 am

Someone else I know had that done and is very happy with the result. He's walking a lot better, and doing a lot more - like building a new house!

1:59 am

I hope you have good reading for the bike sessions. Walking is so much better because you can find things as you wander...

2:00 am

Well, maybe not better, but a lot more fun!

2:01 am

kam...i need to build up my tolerance. bike first. it is so much easier...then walking. don't forget i suffer from fibromyalgia.

2:03 am

I know, so do I. Magnesium is good for muscles to heal and keep on moving - I take mine every night. I try to keep walking as much as possible to keep my legs strong. My neck is what is a mess, but so goes life. Go slowly, my dear.

2:08 am

kam i am going slowly. with the FM i have quivering muscles. any exercise exaggerates that, which is very painful.

2:10 am

You'll get there, just do what you can, then rest up. Every day you'll be able to do a tiny bit more. I hate the "I overdid it" shakes.

2:12 am

oh yeah, they're the worst. particularly when himself does not understand.

2:12 am

he queried me about the fact i sleep 11-12 hours every night. i asked him, what about the hours i am awake between 2 and 6am?

2:14 am

he asked what do you do then? i said i lie there staring at the ceiling in the dark. he asked... why don't you turn on the light and read? i said... i don't want to disturb your night's sleep.

2:14 am

he did have the grace to look ashamed.

2:16 am

Mine understands. Unfortunately, he has Parkinson's, which is somewhat similar, but a lot worse, I think.

2:17 am

My father-in-law doesn't understand the sleeping till 11AM thing though. I think he is starting to understand since hubby talked to him about different chronic diseases.

2:18 am

Hubby and I both have weird sleep patterns and just leave each other alone. He can sleep through anything, but if I'm in bed and he's up, he'll close the door so he doesn't bother me.

2:19 am

{{hugs}} kam and loads of support. xoxox

2:19 am

Back at ya!

2:20 am

Ya know, I just get up when I can't sleep, and then go back to bed when I get sleepy again.

2:20 am

What's wrong with quivering muscles in bed? 😀

2:23 am

They wake the other person up! You know, like a cat or dog continually scratching? It's annoying, but my hubby can't help it. Fortunately, his stops when he falls asleep, and if he can't sleep, he gets back up...trade-offs when your body doesn't work quite right. But I will give you another groan for the double entendre :)

2:23 am

nothing ruru.. so long as they are quivering for the right reason...

2:23 am

Ru, how did you get a smiley face in this chat?

2:24 am

I typed it in

2:24 am

I did too :)

2:25 am

but it's still text...

2:26 am

I am sending from my cell ph5

2:28 am

ah ha

2:30 am

I am off to sleep. Take care

2:30 am

Sleep well!

2:38 am

Well, I just learned a new ok word. This is a tough one for me, the Ks about killed me off, but I finished them up, still 23 to go.

3:39 am

good morning all

3:39 am

k grids suck!

3:46 am

10/16

3:49 am

ks killed

4:10 am

Hello, Sprite , if you are still here :-)

4:10 am

*hugs zooz* Hello dear man, yes I am. How are you and how are your parents doing?

4:12 am

I am okay thank you. Mother is doing okay too. had some bad news when dad went to the doctors but will not discuss it as it is not my place to.

4:12 am

How are you doing?

4:13 am

all my best for your father then, and your mother too. And you *hugssss* I am fine. Feeling good, enjoying the cold but sunny winterdays here.

4:13 am

Oh gosh no I want the warmer weather here NOW! lol

4:14 am

lol :) I like it right now. Sun and clear skies and this cripsy cold air. Healthy weather.

4:16 am

R tile greyed out!

4:16 am

good job :D

4:17 am

I do not think it is going to be that easy all the way through some how.

4:17 am

no way. 16 K words. Beastly ;)

4:18 am

Oh great at least it will be a challenge!

4:18 am

nah. Ks are never a challenge. Just a cruel and unusual punishment

4:19 am

lol

4:19 am

got them out of the way first though, so the rest is easy ;)

4:19 am

Wow you are good!

4:20 am

not with Ks I ain't, lol. I just get them out of the way first, so I can enjoy the rest of the grid.

4:21 am

Well i am on the Ks now and I would like to get them out of the way and have stalled at 8! lol

4:21 am

Moving on to the O now.

4:22 am

they are all 5 or below in length, if that helps

4:23 am

That is good to know as I know some of the Ks we have had in past grids can be rather large! Thank you.

4:23 am

and my new word learned for today: pa6/30. Another archaic word of course

4:24 am

Well the Enable we use is archaic so that would fit perfectly lol

4:24 am

hehehe true

4:25 am

yeah with shorter words we just have to whip them monkeys!

4:27 am

Yeah my fingers are pressing away at the keyboard without a care but it is the brain that gets annoyed when nothing seems to take lol

4:27 am

very true, same here. Especially with K words, when my brain shuts down and claims it doesn't even KNOW 16 K words.

4:28 am

LOL

4:28 am

such a pathetic liar, that brain of mine

4:29 am

Just been feeding mine with an apple but the apple is a bit too sharp!

4:30 am

No wonder they were only a £1 for six.

4:30 am

cook them into applesauce

4:31 am

No way! I would have to buy some pork then to go with it!

4:31 am

hahahaha sounds good to me

4:32 am

a favorite children combination here is chicken, french fries and applesauce.

4:32 am

ooh now chicken and fries sounds nice!

4:33 am

my liar brain keeps telling me 'insipient' is a word.

Morning all! Tricky little grid - I'm over halfway but only have 1 six, no sevens and I'm missing the O in the first column and the E and the H in the last column. It's going to be toughish, I think (I have 11 of the Ks)

4:34 am

Very good phantom though, Sprite!

4:34 am

dictionary agrees! It means lack of wisdom; foolishness. Tsk.

4:35 am

Hello, Matty :-)

4:35 am

OS 4/4

4:35 am

hiya matty! *hugs* You are well on your way though. If you want any clues, please let us know.

4:35 am

not a phantom, just not valid in enable for some odd reason.

I will! Still monkeying away (which is nearly PB). Jeff's with his parents this weekend so I'm all on me own :)

4:36 am

Oh yes you are right!

4:36 am

Incipient is the usual spelling

4:36 am

could be relaxing, a few days to oneself

Indeed - I'm going to a friend's for a sleepover tomorrow with gin.

4:37 am

Ah that is probably why then, molly.

4:37 am

hi Molly, incipient has a different meaning though. That is related to beginning things, isn't it?

4:37 am

Are you taking tonic with you too, Matty lol

4:38 am

sounds great, matty! :)

Oh yes - though Sarah will no doubt have some

4:38 am

why ru4 perfectly good gin with tonic? ;)

It should be fun - my friend and her nearly 18 year old daughter (who, I don't think, will be drinking gin, though she likes the odd port and lemonade, would you believe) :)

Oh, we'll try gin cocktails and tonic and just on its own. I doubt it'll be too messy but should be fun

4:39 am

<--- Not keen on gin.

4:39 am

Back in a bit got to get a bit of apple out that is stuck in my teeth. It is really annoying me know.

May I have stats for that E and that H in the last column, please?

4:39 am

Really Zoom? I thought it was like a national requirement of the UK to like gin. : D

Thanks - looking now :)

Found that weird E - thanks :)

4:41 am

let us know if you need more of a nudge

4:42 am

the en is a mushroom, and of course japanese in origin. The japanese really love their mushrooms.

4:42 am

hipshoe

4:42 am

close, zooz.

4:42 am

sorry..that is what happens when I leave the room without putting the cursor back

4:43 am

yeah you should have told us you were back, lolllll

Found it - thanks! :)

4:43 am

welcome back, zooz

4:43 am

Got it..Sorry once again.

Thanks to that, I now have nbt/nbs, for what it's worth. But at least the sun's come out.

4:44 am

Not seeing that E and enorm is out of reach.

4:44 am

it is 3 syllables, zooz, and in japanese most syllables end in vowels.

I monkeyed it....it uses the high value letter

4:45 am

Ah that did it thank you!

4:45 am

yay!

4:46 am

Actually I am sure it has been in the grid before.

4:46 am

yes it has. But rarely enough to be forgotten again

4:46 am

It has, people usually clue it as "the mushroom"

My phantom of the moment is aphid.

4:46 am

That is the only way I remember it.

4:47 am

I'll add it to the babblet list

4:47 am

I will try and remember that, Molly.

4:47 am

Words like that and naan do not stick in my memory because I don't eat them.

Sprite, can you tell me anything about that archaic P?

Naan is lovely!

4:48 am

added

4:48 am

matty, it has an ending that looks yiddish.

4:49 am

and it starts with exchanging money for stuff... but it means heathendom.

4:49 am

oh I love naan. Especially garlic naan.

4:49 am

My phantom is : Passion.

4:49 am

I got that word from the point value. I've never heard of it before and I am quite the heathen.

4:50 am

it was new for me too. My new word learned for today. Don't think it will stick in my head though, lol

4:50 am

ah poor zooz. Passion should never be a phantom :D

4:50 am

Sorry Enable, but anyone who has changed a soaking wet diaper knows that pissy is a word. : P

4:50 am

eww

Tis a strange word :) Thanks!

4:51 am

yeah. And when mad but not flaming red angry, we can be pissy too.l

4:51 am

yay matty!

And I agree re the pi word :)

4:51 am

I thought the mad definition of that word was what made it common and acceptable.

4:52 am

I would agree. But then again, let's never accuse enable of common sense and logic.

4:52 am

No, not in a million years.

4:53 am

LOL

4:57 am

fireflies. Not too bad a grid, apart from the 16 ks.

Well done Sprite! I have 49 left - seem to have come to a standstill

4:57 am

Congrats, Sprite!

4:57 am

54 left here.

4:57 am

anything I can help with before I go and pretend to be a productive member of this household?

Thanks. I shall hunt for it!

Tee hee! (my Jeff is a bit like that...)

5:02 am

I am off for today. *hugs* for all who want them and a vague wave in the direction of babble for those who don't. Have a lovely day.

5:05 am

Have a great day, Sprite!

5:07 am

Good morning all

5:07 am

Hello, Sukee :-)

5:08 am

Hi zoo

5:10 am

aww Pi**y should be there.

5:10 am

I mean HO***y is there :)

5:11 am

So, today snow is here and it's windy.

5:13 am

It has very slightly got milder here. We are at 7.3c so far!

5:14 am

It's -2 here, feels like -9

5:14 am

Not bad considering it is January

5:15 am

It will do with the wind chill factor, Sukee :-(

5:15 am

This year we haven't had the real cold, cold days like -30

5:16 am

It's all uphill from here, February almost...

5:17 am

With the house I got I would not survive temperatures of those degrees!

5:17 am

It was tough in my drafty apartment.

5:18 am

Hope you are keeping warm, sukee.

5:19 am

I am, this morning I am just in a t-shirt and it's okay. In the really cold weather I was wearing a fleece jacket I wear outside in March and October :)

5:19 am

Decided not to go to the gym today...

5:21 am

Yes I often wear my coat indoors with this cold weather and crappy house I have lol with a hot water bottle to go with it all lol

5:22 am

Oh are you not well then, Sukee, to not go to the gym or just fancied a day away from it?

5:22 am

Oh yes, I have a hot water bottle too. I have an electric blanket but I haven't hooked up the electric yet. Makes me nervous with the cats :)

5:22 am

I just don't want to go out in the snow and wind :)

5:23 am

In the winter I really should go later, it's tough at 7:00 AM.

5:23 am

I am sure the electric blankets are okay. I just never fancied having one of those.

5:24 am

Oh I can understand that, Sukee!

5:24 am

the cats like to chew on things and the cord has to stretch from the bottom of the bed to the top so it would be lying under my bed.

5:25 am

Not worth the risk then.

5:25 am

Maybe one day I will use it :)

5:25 am

Whatever, the blanket itself is quite warm.

5:27 am

My mind keeps wanting to type asps.

5:28 am

Well you are ot the only one who tried that :-

5:28 am

)

5:30 am

Well, I made chili yesterday so that will keep me warm :) Will be eating it for a couple of days.

5:31 am

Very nice. And it freezes well too!

5:31 am

Yes, I have some in the freezer also.

5:33 am

Okay I have 9 words left to find but I have run out of time for now. Have a great day, Sukee :-)

5:33 am

Happy babbling everyone!

5:33 am

Well done. You take care.

Hi kids.

hi doc

8:07 am

hi there scrabbs, trent et al

8:08 am

I am off til Tuesday--aaah, I can relax.

8:09 am

not even on call !

8:09 am

I was on call last weekend and last night.

8:10 am

ahhhh - any hiking prospects ?

8:10 am

I hope we get creamed with snow today and I can snowshoe tomorrow and Sunday.

8:12 am

yay ! -- we've been having mixed rain and snow with temps around the freezing mark...way warmer than normal for this time of year...

8:12 am

We have had 2 weeks of warm temps and all of our snow melted.

8:13 am

We started getting snow last night and will get a lot more the next 3 days.

8:13 am

hello Dr Scrabs!

8:14 am

Hi Mama

8:14 am

hope you get it ---we were supposed to get 20-25 cms last week.but they, again, mis-calculated...

8:15 am

hi Eva

8:15 am

hello montreal!

8:15 am

I used your pediatricians' group as an example at our partners' mtg on Tuesday, that we should consider charging for night calls.

8:16 am

how did that go over?

8:17 am

The difficulty is that 1/3 of our families have Medicaid. We are a rural practice with many families living in poverty.

8:18 am

not seeing much this am - bbl for last 49 - nice seeing you scrabbs and Eva - hand and take care - poof

8:18 am

Bye, Luc. Be well.

8:19 am

i imagine it would be difficult to implement there... i havent actually had to call during evening hours myself, as of yet. but from what i understand, theyre a little loosy-goosy about actually applying the charge.

8:19 am

I think the key is education--tell mothers when to call after hours, when to call when we're open, to look at our website, to avoid the ER. But it is difficult to educate the ignorant that think they know everything already.

8:21 am

getting charged a few times might educate them. heh ;)

8:24 am

We try, but we see very simple folks.

8:25 am

I remember the early years with babies. I didn't act rationally sometime, but never called at night

8:26 am

I'm lucky that our pedi's office has a 24 hr medical advice line

8:26 am

I've called at night before, during epic runs of the stomach flu when my toddler was throwing up every 20 minutes for hours

8:27 am

People don't respect us at all and are not resourceful, so they don't look up info or look at our website. They call us to ask about Tylenol doses.

8:27 am

Poor kid, mael.

8:28 am

mael - i was telling Scrabs that our pedi charges for the after-hours calls, but with exceptions: the first (i think) 3 months after your baby is born, you can call with no charge. also, if they end up referring you to the ER, they waive the fee.

8:28 am

We have a triage nurse service take our calls from 9pm-8am but WE pay for those calls, not the parents.

8:30 am

yeah, we're part of a big network and they specifically tell you to call, at any time, rather than take the kid to the ER.

8:31 am

eva, I'm glad they give you the first three months at least! those are the nerve wracking ones, though luckily nothing went wrong for me or mine

8:35 am

I would like to thank the Lord of the Rings for giving me the mi4/9 and the mi5/24 haha

hello

8:53 am

Hi Glant

8:53 am

stats please for the H in the right column?

8:54 am

Hi Glant

8:54 am

Hey Car, they won't even take my blood any more. In the UK, if you have had cancer, you can't donate blood, bone marrow, organs (after death) ever. They say they don't know enough about how cancer works to guarantee that my donation can't spark cancer in another.

8:54 am

HI 7/40

8:54 am

I see it now! ty

8:55 am

It is incredible how many of us have had cancer!

8:55 am

car clue please?

8:55 am

I had thyroid cancer which is relatively self contained. I did not require any radioactive iodine and once the thyroid was gone, I was free and clear.

8:55 am

... maybe babble is just a miraclecure

8:55 am

Glant, that is so interesting.

8:56 am

Ah, I had breast - and chemo and radiation. But the post cancer donation thing applies to everyone in the UK, no matter what cancer or when they had it. I've been clear for 11 years now.

8:56 am

My breastcancer came back after 25 years but, because it is so coimmon, oit's treatable

8:56 am

Food for thought.

8:57 am

Prior to cancer I was a regular blood donor and had donated over 27 pints.

8:57 am

Wow. That shuts down such a large donation population.

8:57 am

But my typing has deteriorated

8:58 am

Mine is going too. Old fingers...

8:58 am

sorry...hi 7/40: side area of your leg + sh 4/5

8:58 am

I am rather hoping mine never comes back Ruby. TYhey do say that 1 in 3 people will get cancer - and that was 10 years ago. Guessing the percentage will probably increase as we expose ourselves to more chemicals and pollutants.

We Welsh are known for our love of sheep, we have over 10 million of them.... and there are 3 million of us...

10:04 am

Aw, Glantarell, the video is not available in the US.

10:04 am

Oh....you want to talk sheep eh?

10:04 am

I'm from New Zealand

10:06 am

I love sheep too. Once I stayed at a sheep B & B. I learned so much about sheep, lambs, fiber, looms, etc. The B & B was near a hiking/kayaking haven.

10:06 am

Just search extreme shepherding in You Tube and you will find one of them Scrab

10:06 am

There are several editions of the video

10:07 am

Does NZ have more sheep than Wales now Mooli?

10:08 am

70 million as of last year

10:08 am

about 4.5 million people

10:08 am

Wow, you outnumber us by a long way these days

10:08 am

yeah, been that way for as long as I can remember

10:08 am

10:08 am

Glantarell, the one with the lights?

Serum sodium level and urine output/concentration must be frequently checked.

10:24 am

I'm sorry I misstated how many sheep New Zealand has...it has actually dropped substantially

10:24 am

now only 27.6 million, 70 million was the high back in 1987...

10:24 am

I would love to live in NZ.

10:25 am

Why the big drop?

10:25 am

That's where I'm orig from bich

10:25 am

still substantially more than our Welsh flock

10:25 am

Well, new zealand economy has been transitioning away from farming for some time...

10:27 am

I am stuck with 76 left. Time to go into town to shop. My refrigerator is almost empty.

10:28 am

I know that feeling

10:28 am

originally from NZ moolingwa me too just came back to western australia two months ago did 5year work contract there

10:29 am

Oh yeah lore? I have an uncle out in Perth...great city, one of my faves

10:30 am

bichon why would you like to live there? been waiting for you to say

10:30 am

I would love to live there too lore

10:30 am

I loved NZ.

10:30 am

either new Zealand or British Columbia

10:30 am

my mum and sis live on the Sunshine Coast

10:30 am

One of the few places I'd leave Wales for.

10:31 am

have you guys been to NZ?

10:31 am

so you'd be baleen out on England Glant :D

10:31 am

and thus we transition to the cetacean portion of our programme

10:31 am

I've been to Littleton, Canterbury, Wellington, Lower Hutt, New Plymouth, Aukland

10:31 am

why does everyone want to live there i was born and bred there i am from coromandel and just finished a work contract there interested to see what you think of my country thats all

10:32 am

that's a fair representation G :)

10:32 am

I think it may be the most beautiful place on earth lore with so much different geography

10:32 am

Used to go and holiday in Whitianga as a kid...loved that place

10:32 am

I loved the scenery, and the peple. Everyione was so friendly and welcoming. Plus the north island climate is lovely

10:32 am

It is # 1 on my bucket list to go from top to bottom in NZ and spend a month there

10:33 am

where you from mooingwa

10:33 am

grew up in hastings

10:33 am

But, it doesn't have any castles (unlike Wales)

10:34 am

I don't like castles.. they give me turrets syndrome

10:34 am

true Glan not old enough many maraes they would be the oldests Maraes (Maori meeting houses)

10:34 am

groan, the old ones are the best

10:35 am

The castle I work in has no turrets, just towers.

10:35 am

I doubt you have a single moat of evidence to support that claim ruru

10:35 am

i would love to go to Wales i think its beautiful

10:35 am

I went to wales once

10:36 am

It is, but probably n ot as beautiful as NZ. Mind you, we don't have earthquakes.

10:36 am

Wales Wisconsin, or Wales UK?

10:36 am

just some ramparts of an idea mool :D

10:37 am

wales uk

10:37 am

they been having quite a few lately started one week after i left they are not nice

10:37 am

have not been to wales, wisconsin

10:37 am

whereabouts Mool?

10:37 am

Abergavenny of all places

10:38 am

About half an hour's drive from me - pretty town

10:38 am

with a ruined castle...

10:38 am

hey i know that place that song

10:38 am

Then drove up through Hereford and back into England

10:38 am

yes, that song

10:38 am

Hereford's nice too

10:40 am

A lot of interesting places in the world

10:40 am

would like to see more :)

10:40 am

good morning everyone

10:40 am

sure is aussie has lots too so vast and different

10:41 am

yes, there are. There are also lots more places I wouldn;t travel to these days

10:41 am

morning cybernan

10:41 am

me too scary hoping to go to new york this year

10:41 am

I visited Oz too. Mackay, Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Port Pirie and Perth.

10:42 am

I've lived in NYC a couple of times

10:42 am

i'm looking forward to going back to BC this summer

10:42 am

did you do any outback places i have driven around most of it

10:42 am

definitely worth visiting if you have never been

10:42 am

I have my trip all booked

10:42 am

I went to NY on my own in 2013 - didn't expect to like t much (not keen on cities) but it was fantastic, and not scary.

10:43 am

used to live in Brisbane G, it's grown a lot in the last decade

10:43 am

New York is incredible. I love NYC

10:43 am

Did no outback places, did a little canoeing on a creek on the outskirts of Sydney, nearest I got to the country

10:43 am

i think i woul love NY been planning to o there for the last 10yrs

10:44 am

yeah, lot's to see and do there

10:44 am

a pretty unique place

10:44 am

Must confess, Australia and I did not see eye to eye. Too hot, too many dangerous critters, and not very friendly people (a long time ago when I was there)

10:45 am

can identify with that Glan country people are all good though differet breed to those city slickers

10:46 am

All the Aussies I have met in other parts fo the world have been lovely :)

10:46 am

aussies are generally fun people

10:48 am

In the 1970s it was very chauvanistic. And I was living in a pretty chauvanaist north of England at the time. I got asked to leave a pub in Sydney because 'we don't serve women in here'

10:48 am

wow

10:49 am

yeah, when I moved in the mid 80s, couldn't believe how racist they were, but the country's grown up a lot since then

10:49 am

one of many instances of rudeness and discourtesy from Aussie men. And the women didn't really speak - perhaps they were frightened of their men, who knows? I know it is very different now, thank goodness.

10:49 am

I think, generallly, those who travel a lot are friendlier and more open minded than those who stick to their own little corner of the world

10:49 am

There's still plenty of "Blokes" there, but it's gotten a lot better

10:50 am

i think its turned around now women very outspoken and assertive some of them quite scary

10:50 am

too true nan

10:50 am

ho6/30 ?

10:50 am

When I was thee it was an open secret that they were operating an aparthied regime but just not saying so in public. Everyone was white apart form the Aborigines, who were treated absolutely terribly. One of the reasons I didn't like it,

10:50 am

aeb...

10:50 am

10:50 am

I think you're right about people who travel, nan, travel broadens the mind

11:30 am

one of the ladies at my church when i was little had the pink cadillac. fast forward to today, shes on her, i think, 15th car from the company?! needless to say, she has achieved pretty decent success. ;)

11:32 am

probably once you get to manage a team it's a lot easier, but you have to be pretty pushy to get there, I think

11:33 am

yeah. and it helps to have been with the company for 37 years!

11:34 am

oh, sorry -- 18th car, if what im reading is correct!

11:35 am

says she hasnt had a car payment in over 35 years, thanks to the company.

11:36 am

i think its fair to say shes an exception to the norm. ;)

11:36 am

neither have we, but then we drive our cars for 10 years before buying a new one

11:37 am

Question from a newby. I'm guessing that the letters and numbers underneath the puzzle are how many words start with that letter?

11:38 am

beth -- no, the numbers are how many points that tile is worth when used in a word.

11:38 am

click on the Help icon above -- it's not too long + lays everything out pretty well.

11:38 am

oh, sorry -- underneath the puzzle! yes, thats what you described. :)

11:39 am

I'm talking about the Tile Stats below the puzzle. :)

11:39 am

Oh OK thanks, that's what I thought.

11:39 am

I'll check out the Help. Thanks.

11:39 am

tile stats are the number of words that begin with that letter and word stats are the number of words that are that length

11:40 am

Thanks.

11:40 am

At first I thought the Tile Stats were how many words with that letter in it. :)

11:41 am

youll pick it all up pretty quickly, im sure. :)

11:45 am

I got that one already. But found you have to plural it.

11:56 am

Actually it's a funny story how I found this. I told a friend that I wanted to invent a new word game similar to Scrabble but with a lot of different twists to it so he said I should call it Babble since my name starts with a B. He did a search on Babble and found this game and told me Babble was already a word game. lol

The right-hand H is one of the 7-letter ones. It's a compound word.

Still sick Nef :-( How are you?

9:19 pm

I'll be back later ... have to get the dogs out for a while. They are going bonkers.

9:19 pm

Working very hard to keep the sniffles from getting worse. I've had plugged sinuses & ears for the past 2 nights; but am doing everything I can to keep it from being any worse.

9:19 pm

I'm sorry you're still sick.

9:20 pm

Sounds like the crud I have. Hope you feel better soon. When I get back in I am having a hot rum drink. Guaranteed to make me feel better. BBL.

9:20 pm

9:46 pm

Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today

9:46 pm

By the way, congratulations to all the finishers!Way to go

9:47 pm

Hi Min! How are you doing today? (I just got here about 1/2 hour ago)

9:48 pm

I have been here Nef, but I have been in and out all night

9:49 pm

I have 2 words left and hoping someone asks for clues for those words.I don't like to ask for clues if I don't have to.

9:50 pm

I am duhhhed by the sa6, any clues please

9:51 pm

I need clues min lol

9:51 pm

Hello sandyloo! I have a story of clues in profile if U need

9:52 pm

oh that's right , I love your stories, I have used them before

9:52 pm

Probably not very helpful though since there are so many difficult words in grid that I could not include in my story

9:53 pm

sa6- walk ostentatiously

9:53 pm

That is a very big baby, but cute, in your profile sandyloo

9:54 pm

Thanks for the story, Min, I've been reading it & using the clues!

9:54 pm

Hello Knight Time! How are you doing? Welcome to chog.

9:54 pm

yw Nef

9:54 pm

LOL I am no techno head to say the least!!

9:55 pm

I am doing well - thanks

9:55 pm

still can't get the sa6, I have only 9 left and there is always one that gets me

9:55 pm

add a vowel and sometimes vowel to the sa4

9:56 pm

9:57 pm

Hi Min

9:57 pm

Thanks, KnightTime

9:58 pm

9:58 pm

Hi origami!Sorry you are still sick. Seems like a long time

9:58 pm

9:58 pm

Min , are all your stories true?

9:59 pm

Ick ... day 3 Min. Just a cold, but the fever keeps coming and going

10:00 pm

sandyloo ... nice to "meet" you - don't think I have seen you here before

10:00 pm

No. In fact, most of them are not true.I just do the best I can to use words from the grid to tell stories. I think that I have only written two that are stories that ARE factual

10:01 pm

ori, one of my friends has the same thing with the nasty cold & off & on fever.

10:01 pm

They are entertaining , I am sure I am not the only one who enjoys them

10:02 pm

S's Smeared! 1 left

10:03 pm

my dearest friend is having a very difficult time with her adult daughter - I have been going to her place every other weekend to take her out and give her some company. I completely forgot today :-(

10:03 pm

Do we remember when we always had an icon theme every day . I always enjoyed looking for them and I was able to make them normal sized

10:03 pm

I "met" sandyloo the other night; and tonight is the first time I think I've ever seen KnightTime here. (I think that that is amazing because their profiles say they've both been here for years)

10:04 pm

Yes, I remember. Who was it who did the icon themes?

10:04 pm

i rarely use the chog

10:04 pm

I have been here for years Nef but over the last 4 we moved to the country where the internet is bad but is now improved

10:05 pm

Ahh, yes, sandyloo, I remember you said that the other night too.

10:05 pm

Well, welcome back sandyloo. And nice to see you KnightTime. I remember seeing you a while back.

10:05 pm

I think it was Sprite . I always found them very educational and interesting and I was dissapointed when we stopped doing them.

10:05 pm

Sprite used to do the icon themes. I thought about taking over for her,but I really don't have time, but I do miss it.

10:06 pm

I see that KnightTime; you must be the "strong silent type" (after reading your profile! ;-)

10:06 pm

I looked into the voting times Nef and I was wrong about our senate being every three years. I have been told that house of reps every three years but senate every 6'

10:07 pm

hey all..I'm back for further punishment

10:07 pm

Still give an icon clue whenever I babble on Fridays since Friday's them was "icon clue", hence my icon for tonight.

10:07 pm

Is Sprite not playing at longer

10:07 pm

Hello IndiaJan! How are you doing? Welcome back to grid

10:08 pm

She is always playing

10:08 pm

Thanks sandyloo. (I did tell someone online what you had said; so I'll have to correct that.)

10:08 pm

hey min...thanks

10:08 pm

ori, sprite does play but at the moment she is very busy so her playing is sporadic.

10:08 pm

Hi Jan. How are you doing

10:08 pm

I have not seen Sprite in a very long time, but I never saw her much even when she did the icon themes.Think there are a lot of babblers who babble incognito which is fine.

10:09 pm

I have 8 left then I am going for a swim in our day which has a lovely little jetty where we can drink wine and then go for a swim

10:09 pm

Hi Jan and grannyrose

10:09 pm

Min you probably come on at a different time

10:10 pm

I am going to try to change my icon pic...

10:10 pm

That could be it. Also do not babble as much as I used to.

10:10 pm

I've seen sprite a few times when I've been up way too late here; she definitely isn't babbling at the same times that she used to.

10:10 pm

i dont chat often...some people arent very nice..must be babble frustration

10:11 pm

Hi rose. (I missed seeing you here!)

10:11 pm

I have made it my practice to ignore the mean people.

10:11 pm

I've heard that from a few babblers, but I have never had a problem here. Always nice people when I am babbling.

10:12 pm

lucky :)

10:12 pm

And I really enjoy the rest!

10:12 pm

Hello grannyrose! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid

10:13 pm

Min, babbling at this time does help. Not too many mean people common at this time of the day.

10:14 pm

cooee nef and min

10:14 pm

and g'day jan

10:14 pm

I only babble during the daytime on a Saturday or Sunday

10:14 pm

10:14 pm

hey granny

10:15 pm

10:15 pm

10:18 pm

i just crappy after, so i avoid.

10:20 pm

I guess I'm old enough that I feel someone being mean to others needs to be called out on it. Otherwise it just gets worse.

10:20 pm

I will hurry

10:21 pm

I still need 80 words, sandyloo; but maybe we can help you?

10:21 pm

yeah I agree only i dont think I changed anything..some people are set in their ways

10:37 pm

I am finished! I have fireworks! ap5/14 was my final word

10:37 pm

I will be here until midnight to give more clues if needed

10:37 pm

Jan is it very cold over in Canada? What is your temperature there?

10:39 pm

It has been a "cold" winter in the Sacramento Valley. Many nights dipping below freezing. And the rain - I know we shouldn't complain about rain in California - but enough already!

10:42 pm

We love the rain especially as we rely on rainwater for all our household water including washing and drinking . We have a large tank to collect water off the roof (130 thousand litres) Plenty in the winter but now summer is here we have half our tank left , Rain starts in April so it should last.

10:43 pm

Weird. I only have one sa7 and it does not end in a sometimes vowel .

10:44 pm

We have had a very serious drought in California for the last 5 years. Since CA provides most of the nation's food, it is a BIG problem. So I shouldn't complain.

10:44 pm

The sa6/27 ends in a vowel. That was my 2nd to last word

10:45 pm

You are right Molly. I clued the sa6/27

10:46 pm

But because of the drought, the rains we have been having have caused a lot of flooding and mud slides, etc, since the ground can't absorb the water.

10:47 pm

Most of my back yard has an inch of standing water going nowhere.

10:48 pm

Ah, I see, thanks.

10:49 pm

Can someone clue the pa 6/21?

10:52 pm

I don't have it ore; but will look now

10:53 pm

The pa 6/21 is pa 4/5 word plus a form of "to be" origami

10:54 pm

Thanks min!

10:54 pm

yw

10:54 pm

Thanks, Min.

10:59 pm

My saggy boat is about to tip over if I do not go to bed. I am having a hard time staying away. Goodnight babblers!
