2:37 am

ruby, rose says I can book a plane to Verviers. But I cannot seem to find any bookable flight.

2:37 am

Ronchamps is why I minored in art histtory

2:37 am

Where is verviers>?

2:38 am

ruby, we are booked into B&B Les Terrasses du Lac. the other place is booked out.

2:38 am

Oh,wow!! I am so happy

2:38 am

I mean annecy

2:39 am

My US lwyer wanted to come at the same time for my deposition, but I told him (effectively) to buzz off!

2:39 am

Annecy has an airport, how does sprite get there?

2:40 am

I don't think there are commercial flights to Annecy, just for Air France" crews who live here

2:40 am

that must be why then. What is the alternative? Geneva?

2:40 am

Maybe you can find a millionaire with his ownplane! lol

2:42 am

Annecy Haute-Savoie is where you can fly to. check out expedia.com

2:42 am

Geneva is 35 minutes by car but there is bus service from there to Annecy. Lyon also haas bus service and is easier to Annecy as the connection is more frequent and right at the airport.

2:42 am

thanks ruby, Lyon it will be then.

2:43 am

rose, I know... but there are no available flights at all

2:43 am

With Genefa, it is necessary to take the train downtown to get the bus. my DIL did it with no French, but I think Lyon is probably eaaier

2:43 am

yeah just saw that...

2:44 am

I prefer to keep the journey as walk-free as possible, so Lyon it is gonna be

2:44 am

I also think Geneva flights are the most expensive, at least that's what the lawyer said.....

2:44 am

Yes, Geneva would require a lot of walking

2:45 am

hang sprite. we are checking to see if we can pick you up in Geneva.

2:45 am

That is pretty complicated, Rose.

2:46 am

This plan has helped me greatly to fire the lawyer!!!

2:46 am

okay, butting out now...*grin*

2:47 am

Do you see the orange phantom hovering over thee grid?

2:48 am

Bye for now, I have to get in the tub to get warm, my hands are like icicles

2:49 am

But I'm smiling

2:49 am

*hugs ruby and sends her warm vibes*

2:49 am

good for you ruby. xoxox darling

2:50 am

I'm not so keen on Versailles; I think Chantilly is prettier. Verrsailles is meta-Trump

2:50 am

Gold gold gold

2:51 am

I was in Giverny when they were dredging the pond, Africans up to their necks in mud!!

2:51 am

versailles is interesting, but not that beautiful

2:51 am

(in the 60's

2:52 am

The garden is beautiful, but very formal

2:53 am

woof

2:56 am

never been to chantilly or giverny, so cannot give my vote for th5. But ruby has great taste, especially in gardens.

2:57 am

giverny is Monet's house and garden. i just want to st5 in a place where the Great Master has possibly stood.

2:58 am

:)

2:59 am

i love the Impressionists.

2:59 am

I found both biggies all by myself btw.

3:00 am

and I keep seeing amputees

3:06 am

yay you sprite

3:06 am

*grins* yay me... for once. Honey, I am so looking forward to it all. Am so excited. Prepare for an email of a meter long

3:07 am

3:08 am

brb, need extra painkillers. My back is driving me crazy

3:08 am

3:08 am

hey, i can recommend a great pain doc.

3:08 am

no sweetie, absolutely not. She is not in a good place

3:09 am

oh, my. i am sorry to hear that.

3:10 am

3:11 am

are you allowed to fill me in? via email ?

3:11 am

yes I am. Will let you know, hun

3:14 am

3:14 am

3:15 am

enjoy, my dear friend. Have fun with my email after dinner.... ;)

3:15 am

Morning all. May I have stats for the U?

Thank you - looking now :)

Hah. Fun word.

3:57 am

Fun for you, invisible for me!

3:57 am

Think lots and lots, Ruby. Sort of slang.

3:58 am

aaah, thank you

6:27 am

ru

6:30 am

ruby, did you ever hear from Annie?

6:58 am

Hi kids.

6:59 am

hello scrabbler, and good morning all my dear friends

7:00 am

Do you have the week off, Trif? This is winter break here.

7:03 am

YESSSAHHHHHHH

7:03 am

little excited about it... lol

7:03 am

What are your plans?

7:03 am

I see that.

7:04 am

I am going up to Vermont to visit secondo, spending a couple of days at my mums while carole and her family take a break, and in between I have a paper to write for grad school, and I am turning primo's old bedroom into a proper guest room, as I have finally accepted that my boy is launched, and won't be coming home again.

7:08 am

Nice plans. Yes, Primo should be launched. Good for him.

7:08 am

his new apartment is ridiculously cool.

7:08 am

Far too many twenty-somethings are still living with their parents.

7:09 am

I wouldn't mind....I like him quite a lot. But he needs his space. It's better for him. He is FINALLY living a 20-something life - going out with friends, doing fun things, etc.

7:10 am

Excellent for him!

7:10 am

he and his GF, who he lived with for four years, split earlier this year....and I am secretly thrilled, though I don't tell him that, of course. They were too young to be so settled

7:11 am

Emancipation is the goal of parenting so you have done your job, and I know he is fine young man.

7:11 am

plus (whispering)....she was a bitch

7:11 am

shhhhhhhh

7:12 am

I won't tell anyone.

7:12 am

lololol

7:12 am

But, yes, those early/high school relationships are best ended as young adults need to meet others and grow personally.

7:14 am

anyway - he got a loft space in an old factory. The design team in charge of the repurposing of the building hit it out of the park. It was a sort of complex of eight buildings, and they put a giant glass roof over the entire thing, so every hallway is four stories high, and eight buildings long - tons of light streams in, brick walls, iron lights on the side of each apartment door....and the insides! He has this HUGE space, all industrial and edgy, which is totally his aesthetic....and his cats LOVE walking across all the pipes and beams

7:15 am

Nice!

7:15 am

bonus - several of his coworkers live there, as well as a couple of friends from college.

7:17 am

And he can experience life as a single individual which is essential for twenty-somethings. The tasks of adolescence/young adulthood: identity, independence, individuation, etc.

7:18 am

you are killing me! I am taking adolescent psychology this round, and JUST finished that very chapter. Wrote a paper on the movie Juno, and how her psychosocial moratorium was foisted upon her....

7:19 am

count for the lone u please?

7:19 am

The 4 i words: identity, individuation, independence, and intimacy (on various levels.) Yes, I communicate these tasks with kids AND parents.

7:19 am

never mind

7:19 am

I have not found the u and keep looking at it.

ok, so i know i have been here before with you all, but I started the HCG diet with dietdoc.com last Sat. After the load (2 days of eating EVERYTHING) I was 182. Today i am 167. I had to go through a doc call, a nutrienist, and an RN. I am sooooo excited that this time i am not going it alone.

9:44 am

sue... its it a low/no carb based diet?

9:46 am

It is a 500 calorie per day diet with pregnancy hormone injections.

9:46 am

oooohkay...

9:50 am

I don't want to lose weight that way. I did the low carb diet, but I became constipated

9:51 am

If I do enough exercise and follow a diabetic diet, I do ok

9:57 am

stats for the lone o plz

9:58 am

op 4/5

9:58 am

9:58 am

I would suggest that anyone do their research and talk to a doctor before going on a diet that severe.

9:58 am

ty ori

9:59 am

YW

9:59 am

Way to go hurshy :D

9:59 am

:D

10:00 am

As for constipation on a diet, usually a fiber supplement takes care of that.

10:01 am

Dieting using hormones is a bad idea!

10:01 am

Bichon: PRUNES!!

10:01 am

don't the supplements make you feel crappy?

10:01 am

this is not my favorite breakfast conversation ever

10:02 am

sorry

10:02 am

'sok, the world does not revolve around me last i checked

10:03 am

Yes it does!

10:03 am

well.. that's refreshing around here hursh :D

10:03 am

hehe

10:03 am

500 calorie a day diets are very severe and have their problems

10:04 am

who was on one that was 500 every OTHER day, and whatever you want on the off days? crossy?

10:04 am

I'm trying to get up to 1500/day, but it's very difficult

10:04 am

UP to, or down to?

10:04 am

(sends ben and jerry's truck to ruby's house)

10:05 am

Up to. I weighed about 83lbs 15 months ago, not a pretty sight!

10:06 am

wow ruby

10:06 am

well if you can afford to eat out, you should just do that more. restaurants pack in the calories.

10:06 am

The restos here are not Worth the effort bug I go occasionally

10:07 am

how is that possible in france? :(

10:07 am

I'm up to about 100 which is fine

10:07 am

I'm in the mountains so the food is too cheesy

10:08 am

CHEESE! = CALORIES

10:08 am

Gratin this, cheese sauce that, it's gross

10:08 am

I guess it's where you are fromage in France isn't it ruby?

10:08 am

*wishes she could eat the food and ruby could put on the resultant pounds*

10:08 am

Yes'm fromage the Reblochon region, so I have a little every day I

10:09 am

i <3 cheese

10:09 am

i may regret this, but, help with the U?

10:10 am

slangy term for too many to count

10:10 am

I like the food better in the UK, better beef

10:10 am

oh nice, thanks bichon

10:10 am

good morning --- need I say it with a cheesy grin?

10:10 am

hahah nan

10:10 am

you LIKE the FOOD better in the UK???

10:10 am

i'd rather talk about cheese than be morbier

10:11 am

my mind is going to be permanently blown by you ruby

10:11 am

ruby, nothing did the trick. I finally went off the diet.

10:12 am

That's funny, hurshy, it's just this region -- beautiful but not noteed for its uisine

10:12 am

that surprised me too --- have had the best meals ever in France --- anything we've ever had in the UK was either greasy spoon or over cooked

10:12 am

well but if you LIKE cheese, as i do...

10:12 am

still, i will reconsider my considering of whether to consider moving to your region

10:13 am

I take a substantial amount of oxy, so that's always a concern. Yoghurt, fruit, orange juice. It's hard to eat much more than that

10:13 am

you are going to hate finding the u hursh.. I just guessed on it

10:13 am

i did find it, bichon cluuuued it

10:13 am

ruby, you're still in aa lot of pain?

10:14 am

I'll bet your weren't in Haute Savoie, nan

10:14 am

Not a lot, the oxy controls it

10:14 am

oxycodone ?

10:15 am

Yes

10:15 am

What causes the pain? I thought the cancer was in remission.

10:15 am

no one deserves to be in pain (in my opinion)

10:15 am

no -- Alsace and Lyon were the closest we got I think

10:15 am

I've been able to decrease the originally prescribed dose

10:16 am

lyon is beautiful..

10:16 am

Both are good food places, even though Lyon is not so far

10:16 am

I have to go to Alsace some day

10:16 am

Happily, that's my oncologists' attitudes

10:17 am

Wonderful duck, lamb and a white fish that I loved but can't remember the name

10:17 am

woohoo found both 8s on my own!!

10:17 am

good.. there is abuse out there for sure ruby.. but the people who need it really need it

10:17 am

Evidently oxy is a big problem in thet US. Here it is carefully controlled

10:17 am

We will be in Paris for one day in early May. I want to go to Giverny

10:17 am

I have the pa8 what's the other hursh (stats only please)

10:17 am

hu8/55

10:18 am

That's funny, Rose is going to Giverny in June

10:18 am

I thinks it's carefully controlled here, but people find a way to get their hands on it

10:18 am

funny I came in just now to see you all talking about health and such.. I am debating wether to try lifeway kefir drinks or not especially the 12 something versions of it

10:18 am

Lovely area, Bichon -- be sure to go to Malmaison as well as Monet's house.

10:18 am

I can't imagine that oxy can be takeen for pleasure!

10:19 am

What are kefir drinks?

10:19 am

ruru can you clue the pa8 pls?

10:19 am

kefir is some kind of yogurty thing, isn't it?

10:19 am

something the Sutherland family makes ruby :D

10:20 am

thanks for the hu8 hursh

10:20 am

I eat Greek yoghurt with BlackBerry jam every day

10:20 am

yw

10:20 am

kefir is a mid east form of yoghurt

10:20 am

perfect12 kefir by a company called lifway sold here in the us

10:20 am

10:22 am

Bye everybody, doggy dinner time

10:23 am

I keep it in the house for visitors

10:23 am

10:24 am

I eat microwave popcorn with LOTS of butter

10:24 am

how about CARAMEL?!

10:24 am

I grew up in a candy store

10:24 am

ruby my mom used to keep little bowls of candies in the house in the living room everyday

10:25 am

ok i may need to go eat some popcorn now

10:25 am

ruby immune to it?

10:25 am

I hadmy fill by the time I wwas 12, unlimited ice ream and andy

10:25 am

10:25 am

10:25 am

ooh -- not like chocolate? -- and living right next door to the best chocolate making country in the world!

10:25 am

I can take or leave chocolate too

10:25 am

you are so lucky, i wish i had had my fill and did not te4 toward avoirdupois now

10:26 am

avoirdupois?

10:27 am

so apparently avoirdupois was originally avoirdupoids (to have some pounds) but somehow the d got dropped over the years so that now it looks like it says "to have some peas", as in, "you are too fat, you need TO HAVE SOME PEAS!"

10:29 am

oh?

10:29 am

apparently this doesn't amuse other people as much as it does me.

10:29 am

yes.. it's certainly making it riskier for my current chase :D

10:53 am

God knows if I get in bed I may never get to the grid :D

10:54 am

*keeping mouth zipped

10:56 am

best to do that nan.. best to say nothing

10:58 am

have hit the wall -- hopefully the list will help

10:59 am

i don't get which numeral prefixes can have "tet" and which can have "tad", who decided these things?

11:00 am

I did mean Dart. And I have about 10 things to say about that bed comment, but I am keeping zipped as well.

11:00 am

Hell froze over again :D

11:01 am

you guys are really testing my resolve not to ask

11:01 am

Probably the Greeks and The Latin folks Hursh

11:01 am

Yes, chilly down there in Hell today

11:02 am

hell isn't affected by global warming I guess

11:03 am

Climate change Ru, climate change. (Global warming wasn't selling)

11:04 am

some scientists have also said that "global weirding" could be an apt descriptor

11:05 am

just go and burn more fossil fuels

11:05 am

according to trump, coal is good

11:05 am

i'm totally stuck at 15

11:05 am

Well, "the sky is falling" always worked in the past.

11:05 am

I have the pa8, can someone give stats for the other 8?

11:06 am

hu8 ori

11:06 am

hu8/55

11:06 am

Thanks

11:06 am

too bad humpiest wasn't in the grid today

11:07 am

hu 8 - a word that makes absolutely no sense whatever

11:07 am

Or humpee

11:08 am

disagree

11:08 am

I think hu8 makes sense. It is just "the most" version of that word.

11:09 am

cyber, you're thinking of the root as hu5. The root is the first SIX letters, not five

11:09 am

yes. if one is going to eat animals, what is the hu8 way to kill them, among several different options, one might ask

11:09 am

exactly --- most should be used with the word, not a suffix to creat a word that doesn't exist other than in this alternate universe called enable

11:12 am

last word - may need help - tu7

11:12 am

If you see it that way, than est should not be added to any word and we should just always say "the most ____"

11:12 am

either way, sam --- most should be used with the word -- not a suffix

11:12 am

tu + city in Australia mixed up

11:13 am

ty ruru

11:14 am

always wanted to know what the root of a morning glory is calle :D

11:14 am

i think there is some kind of linguistic rule, molly - like, one syllable words (eg "cute" may take -est), and two syllable words ending in y but not otherwise (eg prettiest) ? but, i'm cool with the evolution of that particular rule, personally.

11:15 am

I thought it was called a root

11:15 am

Anyone have stats for the U?

11:15 am

ty ruru

11:15 am

um7/40

11:16 am

i'm missing 5 s's

11:16 am

I'm sure the language will develop that way through common usage -- just sounds very awkward to me

11:16 am

Oh, I was completely on the wrong track. Thank you!

11:17 am

yeah s's were a pain

11:17 am

se7/32, divide into sevenths, maybe?

11:17 am

Language and grammar are (sadly) dying art forms. People are too lazy to spell correctly or use punctuation

11:17 am

thanks hursh

11:18 am

and the group of 7 that's a 6 (ironic!) and the deviated se6 that some people have surgically fixed

11:18 am

have that one

11:18 am

an 7 please?

11:18 am

the abbr for a 10th grader, the slowwwww furry animal minus L

11:18 am

i'm a deviant so I got that one right away

11:18 am

se5 related to those "seven" words

11:19 am

st5 a nasty infection, not strep but the other one

11:19 am

a + bird home + 3 prefix

11:19 am

oops that would double the t. just one t.

11:20 am

now that i look at the s's, i am not sure why i had so much trouble with them

11:20 am

the seven clues helped me a lot

11:20 am

oh good

11:21 am

ty hurshy

11:21 am

think i'm just needing some st combo I haven't found yet

11:21 am

ru 6 please?

11:21 am

there are 14 st words if i count right

11:21 am

Ru is really off his game. Who knew a little ooo-la-la would take him down so far? : D

11:21 am

how many letters ru?

11:22 am

first st5 is 12 points and one st5 before the infection is 10 points, those are the two weirdest st

11:22 am

don't drive down that dirt road, it is heavily ru6 after the storms we had last month

11:23 am

missing a st 7 I think is all.. i'll find it

11:23 am

ty hurshy

11:23 am

ah well there is only one of those

11:23 am

got it

11:23 am

11:23 am

I hope to really suck at this game soon molly :D

11:23 am

11:24 am

11:24 am

*Ties fingers up*

11:25 am

BTW, don't know why my icon is so huge. I can't figure out how to shrink it.

11:34 am

hydra, go to a "photo editor" and lessen the pixels

11:47 am

Open it in PAINT and resize it

11:47 am

350 should be your largest pixel size

11:48 am

Molly, what is "Paint". Is it a special program. I just use the photo editor on my computer

too much phantom trump in this grid.

11:51 am

Just noticed that too Kaplan

can't get rid of that nauseous baby king

11:53 am

Paint is the image editor included on most PCs. It is Microsoft, not MAC.

11:53 am

I think we have him for 4 years. Then we'll have to see if there's anything left of the country

Or he gets impeached (ha) and then we are ruled by the holy triumverate of bannon, pence and mcconnel.

This grid has clues in it.

11:57 am

I thought the chain of succession was Pence, Ryan, Hatch

Them too. But Bannon is in charge

11:58 am

Pence and Bannon are the scariest of the bunch

Yep.

The others are just spineless swamp creatures

12:03 pm

Deplorables?

12:04 pm

Bad news everyone.. apparently Anniebrook has passed away recently. I just got a notification.. so sorry to hear this news.. she was one of the nicest people here.

4:01 pm

Oh no!! I did not realise she was unwell. Such sad sad news, Ruru.

4:02 pm

a real drag.. she was a great person

4:03 pm

May she rest in peace

4:07 pm

Yes she was, Ruru. Always pleasant to me when I was on at the same time as her.

4:07 pm

Oh damn it. Damn it, damn it, damn it. Annie was a lovely person. I'm so glad I got to "know" her because of this place.

4:07 pm

Bichon and I have been trying to reach her since the 17th and, just now, we were going to call her!

4:07 pm

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this news :(

4:08 pm

If Ru got a notification Mom probably did too. But just in case, if anyone has Mom's email, or is friends with her on Facebook, I'm sure Mom would want to know.

4:09 pm

She was a special, special person.. if that we all could be so sharp and witty in our old age as her.. she was a marvel and a very intelligent person. I loved emailing with her.

4:09 pm

So, I lurk (almost all the time now) but I'm usually here and reading the chog. I'm so very sorry to hear of Annie's passing. What a kind sweet soul. :(

4:12 pm

I just sent mom a message on FB.

4:12 pm

Thanks Lil. It is sad news to pass along, but it helps people to hear about it and make their peace with it.

4:13 pm

So sad

4:18 pm

Where on FB lil?

4:19 pm

I think messages on Facebook are private.

4:19 pm

So very sorry to read about Annie. What a sad start to my day. A lovely lady.

4:19 pm

So very sorry to read about Annie. What a sad start to my day. A lovely lady.

4:19 pm

Somebody named Suellen posted a lovely message on F. It came up on my homepage

4:28 pm

I wrote to Crossy

4:29 pm

And bichon

4:29 pm

That is probably Annie's daughter Ruby.

4:29 pm

I'm not sure but I think her daughter is Elizabeth

4:30 pm

Sorry, my mistake.

4:31 pm

This is too sad!

thrump is my phantom (hi all)

I will miss Annie deeply. She was about my age. Anyone know how to contact family?

4:40 pm

Bichon I think she was 83

4:40 pm

This also must be devastating for Bobby

4:40 pm

I would love to have the daughter

4:40 pm

4:40 pm

Ok, about 13 years older than I

4:41 pm

I imagine Suellen is retrieving her emails for right now.. you can probably write there Bichon

4:42 pm

I know Mom has Annie's address. Perhaps Mom will post something on Facebook, or here, when she is ready.

4:42 pm

I reread Suellen's posting, she refers to herself as the "baby sitter"

4:43 pm

I imagçne that Bobby will go to live with his siter in CT
