yes.. I know Kaplan.. we had a horrible start to life the two of us.. he found solace in drugs and alcohol to handle his personal pain.. I hoped he would go to a therapist to look at that and get better. He rejected that.
If you use the word dis-ease, I would say psychological. And many, many addicts have underlying psychological issues, hence the over-used term "dual diagnosis"

Somewhere between then and now, he went out with his male friends once and now he drinks. when he goes anywhere he can get it. when he told me he thought it was funny. depression goes with adhd according to what i have read online so i guess that is making him drink or whatever. he isn't a heavy drinker though
I went to a lot of al-anon meetings and learned a lot.. really just by listening.. but in the long run they weren't for me..
